I cannot recommend Leanne highly enough! I’ve been getting a full head of blonde highlights since I was 16 years old, so I have about 20 years worth of experience getting my hair done by (mostly) fantastic stylists in major metros, small towns, and everything in between…And Leanne is one of the most talented colorists I’ve ever seen. She is so talented, experienced, and has great vision/intuition — AND has the skills to match. So pleased with my color, and we’ve done something a little different with my color each time I’ve seen her, and I’ve loved it every time. Leanne is also super easy to talk to, I love being in her chair and chatting with her. Basically everything I’d consider to be a home run in a stylist!She was new to the salon when I booked with her, because I needed my hair done at the last minute, so I was booking with whoever was going to be available, and I was nervous entrusting my color to someone new (I’ve had experiences in the past that left my hair either disappointing, damaged, or both). Luckily I had no need to worry, I found my new go-to stylist! First I want to say its a whole vibe in Chads chair.. He made me feel so welcome beginning to end. I would recommend his service anytime not only because of his work but because of his interest in me the customer. His grace towards me was amazing. To feel appreciated and valued mean a lot. I booked my appointment last minute and went to the first available stylist and was lucky to sit in Chad’s chair! He is new to Memphis and did a fantastic cut. He educated me on my hair type and provided so many helpful tips and tricks! It’s hard to find somebody that knows how to cut/style textured hair and he did amazing.

If you plan on booking an appointment here, I highly recommend booking with Chad. He is so talented, not to mention he gives the best shampoo’s out of any hair stylist I’ve been to before.I had a baby 4 months ago and my hair has gone through some drastic changes in these last 4 months. I have been to Chad twice now for a haircut and left both times feeling more confident and so satisfied with my hair. 10/10 experience every single time!

Honestly I have never had a problem with this location until today. I got partial highlights just a “money piece” and a blowout it took from 11am until 4pm to do. When it was time for him to blow out my hair he had no clue what he was doing. I have curly kinky hair but for yall to tell me this gentlemen has experience with my hair type is crazy. The color on my hair looks absolutely stunning but the blowout was a no. Respectfully don’t do blowouts if you don’t know how to do them.

Made a same day appointment for a mani & pedi. I only had a short wait upon arrival, everyone was kind, and my nails looked great. Simple mani & pedi cost $75 + tip. It would be nice if they offered beverage service at this price point.

Came here for the first time for a trim and my first balayage. Agoud was my stylist and she did an amazing job. I have really thick hair so Ik it took her awhile but the results speak for themselves. I barley recognized myself. I didn’t have to wait long after checking in. I like the atmosphere and aesthetic of it.

Very pleased with haircut by Megan. She cut it last time so I asked for appt with her again. She is a delight to talk with while she snips and clips. When done it was just what I asked for.Easy to make appt - appreciated text reminder- very short wait when I arrived a bit early.

I booked a mani pedi for my husband and myself on his birthday and we arrived at 240pm. Appt scheduled for 245. We checked in and were told to have a seat. Well no one ever came to get ME for my service. After his pedi was over (apprx 350pm)the lady asked if I wanted to go sit with him while he gets a manicure. I said I would have liked to get the service that I have been sitting here for....The front desk people look at me stange and ask if I checked in upon arrival; well yeah. You all checked me in. And then I was told sorry my time frame was up so sorry.

Couples package delight. Ive had a number of massages and a few facials. This by far was the best. My massage was just deep and intense enough to give me longer lasting benefits. She recognized my issues and worked them slowly instead of forcefully. I am very impressed. We felt so good afterwards. The midtown location has a special perk-lunch in the bank vault.

Megan was absolutely amazing. She saved my hair. Its beautiful, I am so happy with it. Cut and color. Took her time, was gentle and just amazing with my color.

Took my daughter with two tone color, old color growing out, wanted the color for one color hair. Paid $80 3 hours in the chair for no difference! Still two tones light on top, dark on bottom. Wasted money & time!

Amazing experience. I am a very nervous person and its hard for me to explain what I want or be comfortable with new stylist. My stylist was incredibly sweet and patient with me, had lots of options for me to choose, told me her opinions without pushing, and really went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and not rushed (I got thick hair so it definitely needs extra time).I apsolutely love x100 my hair, it looks better than it has in years. 100% will be back.

Zoe (sorry if I misspelled it) was so amazing! I had a haircut mishap at a completely different salon and called around desperately hoping I could find someone to fix it. It was one of those situations where you can only put your hair in a ponytail until you find someone else willing to take a look. Her attitude, charisma, and energy were so lovely! She treated my hair with care, was super happy to suggest ideas for how we could fix my hair, and cut it so well. I enjoy looking in the mirror now and will be back. She’s earned a customer! 10/10 service and I felt amazing during and after her service. I recommend her to anyone who needs a touch up or is nervous about going to a professional salon, since it can be scary sometimes.

Went for a women’s haircut today with a new stylist named Agoud. I have very long, somewhat unruly hair. I don’t know how she did it, but she nailed it! Down to the last detail I got exactly what I asked for and envisioned in my head. She asked questions about length, details, etc. and we looked at inspiration pics for what I wanted. She listened and gave me honestly the best haircut I’ve had in a decade. Will definitely be back to see her, she’s AWESOME!

I go to this Goulds regularly. Amazing massages from Ronnie and nail services by Renita. Both are top in their game! One suggestion to Goulds owners...have you ever thought of leasing out that large corner spot at Poplar Plaza where the record store used to be? The current location is small and in need of renovation. The mural that was painted near the hair dryers last year is terrible...it looks like a cactus, a wig, and a Band-Aid. You could really make a lovely day spa in that corner space. Just saying:)

I needed a haircut and color touch up while I was staying in Memphis. I found this place on Google, and it had really good reviews. I found the front desk ladies to be very friendly. I was able to get in within 2 days of my call. Nicole was my stylist, and I couldn’t be happier with my cut and hair color. She listened to what I wanted, and delivered very professional results. The cost was considerably less than back home at my usual salon. A very pleasant surprise! I would definitely recommend Gould’s and Nicole.

I started going to Ronnie, the massage therapist, on a regular basis to help with my chronic pain issues. So far Ive had 3 appointments within a span of 6 weeks, and my pain level has gone from a 10 (on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst) to a 6. This positive change has improved my quality of life, making sitting, walking, and jogging more comfortable. Very skilled and professional. Thank you; I will be back!

Omg.the energy from everyone was unexpected and the cleanliness, and how they made me feel doing my visit I will definitely go back. Mr. Ronnie is the go to man if you need every bone pop and every tense spot focus on, and Ms Melody honey she has an amazing personality and she did my feet and hands and she did amazing job I will be requesting those people

I went to Gould’s today for my birthday and received a massage by Mr. Ronnie and I literally felt all the tension and pain melt away from my body after my massage. He made my body feel brand new. I will definitely be back to see him again! I also received a facial from Geneva. She is such a sweet and talented young lady. She made my face glow on my special day. Thanks Goulds!

I have had nothing but great customer service. Stacy is one of the best to give a wonderful massage. She did so well that I am not having near the trouble I have had with bursitis in my hips. Sharon gives an excellent mani and pedi and Lisa is a first rate stylist. She took my short short hair and transformed it into almost shoulder length. I have so many compliments on my hair. They all listen to you and do their best to give you what you expect and deserve.

I absolutely loved my experience here. It was my first time waxing and Sheronda did a great job making me comfortable. The body wrap made me feel more relaxed than I have been in years. The whole staff was friendly and professional and the place was so clean and comfortable. Ill be back!

I have seen a lot of stylists and had a lot of haircuts, but have never had a stylist like Dyrin. I hate to tell you how great he is because it will be hard for me to get an appointment with him. He listens; he knows what he is doing, and I think he works at night doing stand up. I told him I hope he does not leave; he told me he will be right here for my next appointment unless he finds a partner who will support him in the style to which he would like to become accustomed.

Taylor was really sweet and did a wonderful job on my curly hair. The highlights were nearly perfect. She cut my hair exactly as I requested. I got compliments all day.

Im planning on going to Goulds exclusively for at least the next years. I never had a bad haircut call Mama and you can tell that the hair stylist really know what theyre doing. Strong feeling of professionalism, friendliness, and the decor is stellar

For my birthday, my husband booked the Spa Day of Beauty for me at Goulds. I was so excited!!! It mostly lived up to my expectations, with a few minor disappointments. First was the facial. The girl was super sweet and professional. The actual facial felt great, but the description said to also expect a face, neck, and shoulder massage (which is part of why I chose the facial over the massage, because those are the parts I wanted massaged anyway)...what I got was a few rubs I could barely feel on my face and neck, and I dont think she even touched my shoulders. Next was lunch in the quiet room which was great! After that was mani/pedi, which according to the description was supposed to be a Paradise Fiji Mani/Pedi, but what I got was the basics. I had really been looking forward to the different treatments, but the nail tech seemed pretty stressed/overwhelmed and I dont like to rock the boat, so I didnt say anything. She did a great job, and my nail polish lasted 6-7 days, which never happens (the longest Ive ever gone before without chipping is 2-3 days). Anyway, its super expensive, and mostly great...maybe I just need to learn to speak up? But it would be nice if the descriptions in the book they give you when you get the gift card were accurate so Im not expecting things Im not going to get.

A horrible experience. Very disappointed in the quality of services. Booked a couples package for my husband and I and received the most horrible customer service. In addition, we were very disappointed with the quality of the massage. We waited 15 mins before getting started for our scheduled appointment, only to be rushed through lunch because they were behind schedule. Then to add insult, after being rushed, we were told that we couldnt get the manicure, which was a part of the package, because the manicurist had other appointments scheduled. When we voiced our disappointment to management, we were told that the staff reported that we didnt receive service because we took too long in the dressing room. In a nutshell, we were lying and it was all our fault.For an experience that was suppose to be relaxing and enjoyable, Gould ruined the day. Definitely not worth your time or money.

I wanted to go from my very dark brown to silver. It’s a process, which I understand. But the stylist who did my hair was new and had never done this process before. She left it on too long and completely fried my hair. It is totally porous and Not able to be saved. I have to sit years until my hair grows out. Don’t do hair bleaching is you legit don’t know how to do it. Do a strand test if you need to. This damage is devastating.

If you are tired of your hair stylist not listening to what you want, and would like to experience a great cut and color with someone who listens and actually engages in a discussion about your hair, make an appointment with Scott. Two years ago, two weeks before my sons wedding, the stylist I had depended on for the wedding was no longer available. Upon a friends recommendation, I made an appointment with Scott and was very, very pleased. Two years later, I am still a very loyal customer.

I was excited for my first appointment however they cancelled 15 mins before it started and had me reschedule. When I showed up for my rescheduled date they said they couldn’t find my reservation in the books so they tried to reschedule for ANOTHER time. At this point I was ready i was aggravated and ready to find a new salon but they suggested I try someone new. I did and my hair looked good, even though she accidentally burned my ear and me being there felt more like a burden on this woman’s hands than a client. Not my lucky day.

3 weeks ago my mother( who gets her nails done there every week) scheduled an appointment for me as a referral to get my hair cut by Maxine. I had mentioned to her that I was looking for a new Barber and she raved about Maxine so I decided to give her a try. Have a birthday coming up. Figured why not. Got the text confirmation then. Last weekend received another reminder via text and then finally yesterday received a text asking me to confirm the appointment. I responded and confirmed. We show up at my appointment time of 3pm to be told almost immediately that there was some kind of scheduling conflict and that not only was Maxines schedule supposed to blocked off she apparently wasnt even there. Adding insult to injury we were then offered to maybe , perhaps, if possible get worked in with another stylist who quite frankly didnt seem like she was too thrilled at the prospect of seeing me and barely made eye contact with myself or my mom. The receptionist honestly didnt seem like she could care less. When we asked to speak to a manager whos name we were told was Belinda we were advised she wouldnt be in until MondayFirst. The utter lack of communication is ridiculous. Second, the poor customer service and lack of empathy is flat out embarrassing. 3rd, as cliche as this sounds I had intended to be a repeat customer ,but given this experience I will never spend my money with this business.

Charlie my stylist listened to me and took great care in what I wanted done to my hair. Her coworkers also talked to me about the cut i was getting and gave their opinions to me. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I will go back to get my trims done.

From an employees standpoint , I think the staff and company presents their self friendly and clean , but in reality things are different. If you are young and African American I strongly urge you to reconsider applying for Gould’s Salon and Spa. I myself have attended a predominately Caucasian cosmetology school and have worked with various ethnicities. With that being said, I love all people , and I never like to pull the race card. But today I was terminated with no proper reason. When I visited David Gould , the owner of Gould’s Salon, he didn’t try to hear a word from me. I have pictures and evidence of Gould’s Poplar Plaza employees not following state board protocols. They receive 100 points on there state board visit but they have not thoroughly checked stylist station. I have pictures of the managers combs and station covered in old color build up and overlapping hairs from the coarse of hair services. That were reused on multiple clients. A review is not the time for me to tell you all stories of the many reasons you shouldn’t apply here but this is my review. And I thought it would help someone who was considering seeking employment here. They hire all races but are still extremely Prejudice

Went in for a trim. Valeria did a super job and even styled it. Id avoided going, suspecting price would be high, since its a spa. Finally got desperate for a good cut and figured Id bite the bullet. I was very surprised that it was $25! - same as the Sports Clips my hubby/son goes to. Ill be going back on a regular basis now.

I loved it here! I had received a facial from Stannett. She made my time there memorable. She is a great conversationalist and give great tips on skin care. I will definitely be going back!

I have been patronizing Goulds Salon at the Poplar Plaza location for over a year now, along with several of my friends. I have been extremely pleased with the service every time I have visited, regardless of the artist or treatment. I find the prices to be fair and competitive, and the staff to be helpful, kind, professional, and capable. Goulds Salon is very easy to recommend and I will certainly be visiting again.

My hairstylist didnt listen to what I wanted and just overall wasnt interested in what I wanted. It was expensive for the quality of service and I didnt leave happy. Wasnt mad, hair grows back, but would have at least appreciated her pretending to listen.

If I could give this place 0 Stars I would. This is a known Goulds that always give customer problems. They log on to Google using fake accounts to lure people in by rating it a high review.I scheduled an appointment for deep tissue massage with Ronnie. I arrived 15 mins ahead of the scheduled massage. I was highly disappointed because he never showed up...I waited 46 minutes then went to the front desk & asked for a manager. I found out that Khadijah was the manager but she never showed up to hear my complaint. When I ask the front desk personnel for Khadijah to show up, they asked me to wait because she was nowhere to be found. I called the corporate office and they sent me to the Goulds downtown. I am still a happy Goulds Customer because the Goulds downtown took excellent care of my needs.

I really enjoyed myself . I felt welcomed as soon as I came in and was greeted. Richard was very nice and professional. he gave me a great massage and was very informative afterwards . Thumbs up to you all .

Been doing hair for over 20 years. Carter change and I so needed my haircut!! Been to a few places in Memphis... needless to say Ive went home to fix it after. Well Ive meet a wonderful stylist named Amy. She listens and is attentive. I ve been there twice now and havent had to fix it. Lol its great

My favorite Goulds location in Memphis! I see Scott for my hair and hes amazing, I also use the massage, facial and pedicure services and have had a great experience with all of them. I recommend the Murad and Pom Power facials, the Swedish or Deep Tissue massages and the Fiji mani/pedis.
