Great place for locals and visitors. Everyone is very friendly. Non smoking inside but you can go outside. The rear patio is private and true to the Nawlins environment, its very comfortable, colorful and festive. Pet friendly atmosphere. Kenny, the owner is very welcoming. Richard, the bartender, is wonderful. You cant go wrong ordering jello shots. GrandPres offers jazz on Sundays. Local food spots near by. Located across from Louis Armstrong Park on Rampart Street. Make GrandPres a place to visit during your travels to New Orleans.
Went here while visiting because u have a friend who currently works here. His name is Richard and if you go visit you should for sure ask for him, hes one of the best! Was a good time both inside and on the patio. They had live music and the lady that was singing had a great voice and personality!!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Grandpres and my most memorable experience was encountering the Taco lady, Hidi, out front. Her delicious late-night snacks were a delightful surprise and added to the overall enjoyment of my visit.Thank you to Hidi. I highly recommend stopping by to grab a snack from Hidi and soak in the warm and welcoming ambiance of Grandpres. I will definitely be returning for more delicious food and good times. Cheers!
Great conversation and service from our bartender Trey. It was a very pleasant surprise to find this bar close to our hotel on the edge of the French Quarter. We were able to make some new friends and will definitely drop by when we visit New Orleans for a second time.
The service was really nice and prompt! Happy hour has great deals and the regulars are so nice! Would go again
Went last night after a recommendation and the bartender was super kind and talkative. We loved his whole attitude, will be recommending this place to others!
Great little gay bar with the cheapest drink prices in the French quarter. It’s only two blocks west of the main gay bars (Oz, Bourbon Pub Parade, etc) and Bourbon Street. They have nice seating and a back patio, etc. Definitely should check it out!
Amazing hangout on North Rampart. Drink specials. Wonderful place to watch football. Jazz Trio on Sundays. Hidden gem in the French Quarter.
My group was visiting the city for few days and we ended up here 3 out of the 4 nights. We had a bad experience at a busier club on bourbon street and decided to try out this bar instead. We couldnt have enjoyed our time anymore than we did! The whole staff was remarkable kind to each of us and the prices were considerably cheaper than the other bars in the area.Im definitely coming back as soon as Im in town and telling all my friends to stop by if they come to town!
Stumbled in here while trying to get away for a drink with close friends during a cocktail conference. Todd was hands down the best bartender we had all week. Service was spectacular and we loved every second we spent here. Perfect spot for a nice night out with some of my favorite people!
Me and my husband, “ Crane the Operator “ stopped in for a cool down and a quick drink and ended up having an incredible time!! Great bar and the patrons were so welcoming. We can’t stop talking about it. We will definitely be coming back here!!!
Ken is wonderful. I sadly forgot the bartenders name; however, he, and his lovely patrons, as well as the delicious peach Jello shots AND $3 tequila shots, made my vacation. The outdoor patio looks like a relaxing oasis. Thank you again!!
Every time were in the city we stop by GrandPres to have a few drinks and watch the football game if its on. The bar never lets us down. The owner is simply the very best and his staff goes above every time.
This bar is what New Orleans is all about! Came here with my electric scooter a few months ago and its now becoming a routine! The people are always so friendly, and the courtyard is absolutely gorgeous. Pro Tip - they make any amazing bloody mary! So glad I found this place!
One of the best gay dive bars in New Orleans. i constantly bring friends from out of town here for a low key experience. drinks are great and Aaron takes care of every customer like they are his personal friend. it’s a great spot to get away from the normal buzy bourbon street.
NEVER. AGAIN!Scenario:After the bartender served us our drinks they told us the card machine wasnt working- are you serious. So Luckily they had a ATM Inside. The manager came and spoke with me and told me they have been having card issues all day.So I asked him then why would you serve people drinks and not tell them cash only?!?He said look its busy and I have to keep customers. So I told him Im a customer- so I asked him if I get money out the ATM could he take the fee Im paying for my money out the ATM and take it off of the bill of our drinks. He said No! .. And with and attitude. I said well its not our fault the ATM and you knew this was a problem all day Im a customer and he told me Im a customer too why Should I suffer? At this point Im in shock that he would even let those words slip out of his mouth! So this individual continues to tell me how its difficult to be in his position and then tells me not to be mad at him - I just looked at him and he responded your going to mad at me anyway and threw his hands up and walked off. I was so over it.Then he tells my friend the best he can do is get us both a drink. Now what sense does that make?I will never come back to this place again. One thing I hate is scamming and bad management/customer service. On the other hand. This place has cheap / strong drinks.Bartenders are friendly. Its a neighborhood bar.... I almost forgot he gave me a resolution- to call cable company to get your money back.. Wow bravo to the management .... Never again
Went late on a Thursday, kinda quiet, but Todd was the absolute best. Tremendous hospitality. Great bartender. A million stars.
Bar tender Aaron was amazing. Had the best lemon drop ever! Such a wonderful little kept secret!
The owner renigged on an agreement he made to lend his space for a comedy sketch group to use. My friends (african american females) wrote a sketch show and had been promting it for weeks. But the night of, the owner said sometimes there are line dancers that come and wanted to keep the space open for them if they come. He graciously offered for them to perform outside (in the freezing, raining weather with no stage) I have NO desire to support a place like that. He is racist. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would.
My first time at New Orleans, and we have Amazing Experience.Thank you so much Mr Anthony, he was super nice with us.You should visit this place .
Friendly atmosphere and cheap drinks. Even have a breathalyzer if you have a hard time telling when you should stop.
Friendly lil place.....we stopped off on a walk to our hotel. Good drinks.
Aaron was the best! Great bar with friendly local people. This is a great alternative to the craziness of Bourbon Street.
Great courtyard in back for smoking or whatever. Also great prices and various specials and shows, along with being a great venue for drag shows and watching Saints games.
Cool laid back. Great bartenders!!!!! Aaron,Phillip,Michael. Karaoke Sunday night and its going down.....
Having so much fun! Michael is a great bartender! Trivia with Ricky was so much fun!
Southern Hospitality doesnt exist here, unpleasant and rude, I was so baffled by the scurrilous attitudes I was inspired to write my 1st Google review
Nostalgic gay bar. Old and historic like only NOLA can do!
Best local bar in the Quarter. Pay in $2 bills, it drives Phil up the wall. 😀
Great place and people, you just have to give it a chance. Great patio for smoking!
Wow by far a not so friendly place the bartender was not welcoming at all I cant believe this is what the old Star Light has become wish I could remember the bar tenders name because he needs to get a different line of work
Met my straight boyfriend at a gay bar of all things! Weird right?!
Great bar fun bartenders a true French quarter bar.
They are not welcoming to black women so I would not recommend this bar.
I always try to stop by this bar. Aaron is a great bartender.
An awesome place to chill and sing karaoke with locals on the backside of the Quarter
Amazing. Best prices in the neighborhood. Awesome patio!
Fun local gay bar with great drinks!
Sexy Staff! Jerry is great... The best ever
