PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE! I am literally begging you. My friends and I came here for a good time but had the complete opposite experience. The bouncers are rude and AGGRESSIVE. One of their bouncers is a tall guy with a ponytail and tried fighting my friends and I for no reason at all. He appeared to be drunk and/or on drugs. None of the other bouncers or staff stepped in on our behalf and we didn’t even receive a refund for the drinks/tickets. We were forced to leave because the security guard was threatening to assault my friends and I. He also tried fighting other customers that night. This place has multiple reviews where people are complaining about the same issues my friends and I had at this place. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. Completely unprofessional!! 0/5 stars!
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! If I can give it 0 stars I would. The staff were very unprofessional. The security guards are very aggressive and wanted to fight the group I was there with for no reason. It was the same security guard that was complained about in all these other reviews the one with the ponytail, it looked like he was drunk and also on drugs. I don’t know how he still has a job here. But if you are Waikiki and wanted to go out for a good time definitely don’t go here.
This place has the potential to be so cool. The seating is great, the drinks were good, and obviously the dance floor is super fun. But there is a ridiculous cover, even on a Monday, and the DJ was awful. He would not allow anyone to request a song unless they “tipped” at least $5, and then even still he’d only play the song for ~30 seconds.
Warning: Stay away! The security staff is not only intoxicated but also aggressively hostile. The bar poses a severe safety risk. Shockingly, my boyfriend was physically assaulted without any prior verbal warning or explanation. Not only it resulted in bleeding wounds, but also his outfit was ripped. Its imperative that all the security guards be apprehended, and the establishment shut down. Upon further investigation, I discovered similar incidents reported by other customers, yet those unprofessional aggressors continue to be employed there. Refer to the attached photos and consider exploring other venues – numerous clubs and bars offer a safer atmosphere, professional security, and no cover charge. Prioritize your safety!
Title: Play Bar Night Club: The Gold Standard in Nightlife HospitalityStepping into Play Bar Night Club after my harrowing ordeal at The District was like walking from night into day. The stark contrast in atmosphere and customer service immediately washed away the remnants of my previous discontent. From the outset, Play Bars staff demonstrated what true hospitality looks like. They welcomed me with genuine warmth and respect, ensuring my entry was smooth and enjoyable. Security, while vigilant, was courteous and professional, offering a sense of safety without the overbearing presence that I had unfortunately grown accustomed to.Inside, the ambiance was electric yet inviting, with a crowd that seemed to mirror the clubs ethos of fun and respect. The music, lighting, and decor all contributed to an experience that was both exhilarating and comfortable. Unlike The District, there was no need for me to use an ATM, as Play Bar offered various secure and hassle-free payment options, reflecting their commitment to customer convenience and safety. The bartenders at Play Bar deserve a special mention. Their friendly demeanor and expert mixology skills ensured that every drink was not just a beverage but part of the nights experience. They were attentive and efficient, even when the bar was buzzing with patrons.Management at Play Bar was also a highlight. They were present, approachable, and clearly dedicated to providing a top-notch experience. Their open attitude made me feel like my enjoyment was their priority, a sentiment that seems woven into the fabric of their establishment. To cap off an already fantastic night, I witnessed the staff handle a minor customer issue with such diplomacy and fairness that it reinforced my sense that Play Bar is the epitome of what a night club should be. There was no drama, no escalation, just a swift and satisfactory resolution that left all parties content. In every aspect, Play Bar Night Club outshines and outperforms its competition. Its a venue that not only redeems the tarnished reputation left by places like The District but sets a new standard for what a night club can and should be. If youre looking for a night out where fun, respect, and safety are guaranteed, look no further than Play Bar. This club isnt just a great night out; its the place where memories are made, and worries are left at the door.
First time at the club with my sister for our birthday vacation on 3/18. We loved the cool lights on the dance floor, the music was great and a really live and energetic atmosphere. Also, the owner was awesome and personable. He helped to make us a have a great birthday experience at the club
Playbar Waikiki Nightclub is a popular nightlife destination located in the heart of Waikiki, Hawaii. The dance floor is spacious, allowing guests to move freely and enjoy themselves. In terms of service, the staff at Playbar Waikiki Nightclub are generally not the most friendly and attentive. During peak hours, it can be challenging to find seating or get quick service due to the high volume of patrons. One aspect that may be off-putting for some visitors is the cover charge. While it is understandable for clubs to have cover charges to maintain exclusivity and manage crowd control, some individuals may find it steep compared to other establishments in the area.Playbar Waikiki Nightclub offers an enjoyable nightlife experience with its lively ambiance and diverse music selection. However, potential visitors should consider factors such as cover charges, crowdedness, and strict dresscode before making their decision.
We didn’t even make it inside before the bouncer said there was a dress code. The “dress code” is not listed on their website. People can walk in with bikini tops and flip flops but sweat shorts are not allowed. CRAZYYYY. In conclusion not worth your time
I had a mixed experience that left me with conflicting impressions. The atmosphere is charged with energy, thanks to great music that keeps the vibe alive. However, the frequent ejections of patrons left me uncertain about the reasons behind them, creating a somewhat unsettling environment. The staff and bouncers were generally okay, easy to talk to and answered my questions while dealing with angry folks that got kicked out. The drink selection is standard, and locally priced. The real highlight here is undoubtedly the music, providing an enjoyable backdrop for the night, and the dance floor was fun.If you can overlook the occasional disruptions and focus on the music, this might be worth a visit. Just be prepared for a rollercoaster of an experience with the unpredictable ejections, which may or may not be justified.
This is a very horrible place to go to. Do not waste your money. There is nothing good about this place. The security guard with the ponytail is very aggressive and would assault you at the slightest chance. This is definitely not a place to go for a good time. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
Homophobic and trashy. Blatantly so homophobic. The guards are trash and their dresscode policy actively wants womem to wear limited clothing but requires men to wear sleeves. The guards were nasty and everyone who was leaving there actively told people in line not to go in because its not worth it. Avoid the guards in the photos too because they are verbally abusive.
Went to this bar at 3am. Bar closes at 4am according to google. We had a drink at the bar. At 3:30, they turned on the lights and the bouncers got in our face to get the f out. Very aggressive and Very vulgar. We went outside and when outside, 2 of us went to the sidewalk with a bouncer who seemed nice. Our other friend who was close to 60yo was leg swiped and pushed to the ground by two other bouncers. One was bald and he is the one who assaulted my friend. The other one had a pony tail (hair pulled back) and he was the one who was verbally assistive. Police were called. Charges are filed. I do not recommend anyone to go here ever. Worst place ever!!!!
I forgot my drivers license and credit card here and there was no way of contacting them as the place was closed until 10 pm next day. The numbers and support forms they have online doesn’t work. They don’t even have number in google map. Imagine you have flight the next day and you can’t travel because of this. How come such a big business be careless about such common scenarios? It is so disappointing and unprofessional in my opinion. If you decide to go to this place, know this beforehand.
This place is garbage. Bartenders dont prioritize first come first serve. Then you wait 20 minutes to tell you its a $50 minimum on card... So you go to the ATM and come back... Wait another 10 min for them to give you a BEER. Even asked for a lime with my Modelo... After all that didnt even get that little thing. This place is trash.
Bouncers were hostile to begin with. There is a $10 cover charge which is fine except there was no one inside. Then they tell you there’s a $50 minimum on cards after you order your drinks. The dance floor looks cool but there’s no drinks allowed on it. There’s also a strict dress code. Lots of weird rules for seemingly no reason. Definitely won’t be bothering to return.
I have never ever had a worst experience at a bar in my entire lifetime. I am service industry for 12 years I have a lot of respect for people.. I had a vape in my hand they told me not to hit it, and I respected that and went outside to hit my vape. A girl walked in and told me that she wanted to go around the corner to hit her vape so I went around the corner with her because she grabbed my hand. Now I’m getting kicked out but she’s still allowed inside.
This place is cool. The most you’ll get out of a club in Waikiki. Played some hip hop. Mixed crowd. I would go back. Better to go after 10pm. Wish they played more updated r&b/hip hop music.
The bartender kaja is aggressive & very rude to customers & security will just side by her although she’s the one in the wrong. That bartender will lose more Customers and cause more bad reviews, I’m positively sure.
This bar was stinky P UDidn’t pop off till 2 am but the dance floor was fun. $50 minimum for card charges too
Worst dance experience we have ever had. Took our cover charge (no problem) then they tell you there is a $50 minimum charge. We were a little taken back but continued on. We had to wait for a drink and then we got a seat, waitress said she would not serve us because we had tab open at the bar. ( again no issues) so we asked to close our tab so we could get served. They then asked us to leave for no reason and charged us $70 dollars (not including cover) and would not refund or let us finish our drinks or dance. This was our wedding gift to go out dancing and yet it turned out to be a scam.Avoid this place!
My wife and I went there after reading the reviews. We had a greet time. Made friends and danced all night. The bouncers are a little over bearing with the rules. A girl we were with was talked to 3 times for breaking rules. She took her drinks to the dance floor and her lay was dropping flowers everywhere. We had no issues with twerking or dirty dancing. It was a ten dollar cover but the drinks were strong. 8/10 recommend
Servers were great at letting you know how to work the bar, bartenders had a decent poor for the area, bathrooms were tidy (always tip your bathroom attendant fellas), being there are plenty of tourists theres a slow moving dance floor sometimes. Over all a good experience, although not the same youd expect from a club back home for me. Dance floor is small but formidable for the crowd before midnight. Bring friends if you dont want to be in contact with others. The more the merrier.
Drinks were ok priced. Atmosphere was weird a lot of girls being rowdy and drunk. Dance floor looked cool but you can’t take drinks on it so it’s dry. Service from bartenders was good. Entry fee $10. Tiny bathrooms but they were clean.
Security dont want you to have a good time period they look for anything to go wrong all way dr standing dancing. This place is racist period if you are black its quite nerve wrecking when you trying have a good time. Anthropology you was like you were wrong for being there. Tres lightly if you are black
They don’t let you drink on the dance floor. Yes, you read that right lol, pretty bizarre. Because of this weird policy it ends up being 75% of the crowd standing around awkwardly watching the other 25% dance. Honestly this could be a really cool spot - the music is decent, the layout is nice, and the dance floor is actually really cool - but their weird rules kind of mess up the whole vibe.
The bar we were at previously had mentioned this was the place to dance so we were excited! The server stated you opened at 10pm and we were ready. Well you opened at 1030pm which was fine we were excited! I went up to the bar and simply asked the bartender if she knew what a green tea shot is (I bartend at very busy bar in the Midwest USA and I know not a lot of drinks are similar). She rolled her eyes and said yes. I said awesome I need 6 of them. She huffed and rolled her eyes again. I asked her how her night was I didnt get much of a response. She then charges me 12 dollars per shot, when I watched her make them it was for maybe 4 of them not 6. I paid and tipped with no problem. She proceeded to be a not very nice service worker all night. The DJ also acted like he hated his job. I dont mind paying that much (back home they are 5.50 a piece) but I do mind when the service is terrible.
We got here early, front desk female was really kind and recommended another bar until they opened. I was nervous because of all the bad reviews but we came here tonight (Tuesday) and it was actually a great turn out. I’m black (so the music here is great) and I enjoyed the music, drinks were strong, server was attentive and bouncers didn’t bother us. Follow the rules and you’ll be fine. It was slow but it’s Tuesday and it was still fun! They play great music. The vibes are definitely there and I wish we could be able to go on a Saturday I know it would be fun! Worth going!
Security was on the dance floor but not in a cool way. Looking for a reason to start a fight or kick someone out. Threatening environment for no reason. Also dress code is weird. You absolutely need belt loops because it’s a policy and they’re a “high end” club. They’re not. The dance floor is so tiny and security makes it feel like an adult supervision field trip. Go to sky bar instead !!
Horrible place to go party. My friends and I were harassed in the bathroom to tip a lady that would hand us paper towel. Then tried getting ice and water and the bartender was literally saying no. So instead I tried buying shots of ice and the bartender still didn’t want to. She proceeded to be so aggressive and started yelling then the security kicked us out and I was so confused because she was the only one yelling. I definitely do not recommend going to this place the bartenders and security are horrible and it’s a place you can’t get water
Worst bar Ive ever been too. I have traveled around the world and the workers here are the worst Ive ever experienced. The bouncers look for fights and have zero respect for the patrions. The bartenders are great however the bouncers are terrible and look for fights despite talking to them with reason and respect. Awful bar and would never return or recommend. The employees deserve to be fired here. Awful service
Cool little spot. Sunday nights are pretty slow but the DJ was awesome.
Very fun and laid back… drinks aren’t too expensive. But there was a creep recording girls on the dance floor and when a guy tried to block him, the security guard told him to leave. Creep kept recording no problem…
What kind of night club prohibits dancing??? Why have a dance floor at all? Is it for looking and standing only? Save yourself the trouble of dealing with pushy bouncers and paying a cover only to get yelled at for dancing at a night club with music and a dance floor. Call it what it is, a club with a sticky light up floor, not a dance floor where everyone hates their job.
Staff would make me feel uncomfortable when I wanted to go to my hotel room that was behind the club. Made a circle around me they looked like they were on drugs demanding to know where I was going and giving me a look of disbelief when I would say my hotel. The staff wear a creepy 86 button that looks like the white power 88 symbol.
Had a pretty good experience here. Drinks are reasonably priced. Pretty open during the weeks and packed on the weekends. Noticed they tend to play a larger variety of music on the less crowded nights. When it gets busy youll mostly be listening to hip-hop; more of a latin mix on the week nights. Cool light up dance floor and a decent more mature crowd compared to some of the other clubs in the area.
You cant have your drink on the dancefloor. You have to go to the bar to drink it and they dont give free water. It sucks here. You cant even twerk here without the bouncer kicking you out. For real. Not kidding.
Avoid this place at all cost, all the bad reviews are 100% accurate.Weird dress code about belt loops50$ minimum credit card hold10$ entry feeSketchy afUnsafe for female presenting peopleBouncers actively looking for fights like you wouldn’t believeOnly cash acceptedTerrible drinksDon’t go here there are lots of places around to go to instead. All the women I went with left 5 minutes later. Not worth it whatsoever.
Great club to chill or show off some dance moves! Make sure to talk to the DJ if you want a song. Dress code is strict, but vibe is still a mood!
I tried many different night clubs, I do not recommend this one.Bouncers very agressive.Exemple out of many, they don’t hesitate to push you violently if your have a drink in the 10 m^2 dance floor.Go somewhere else !
If you are looking for the time of your life this is not the place! The bartenders are rude and unhelpful. My friend started to order a drink and she made the time out gesture with her hands didn’t let her finish what she was ordering made her a random drink that she didn’t even ask for. I then ordered a rum and pineapple and she just gave me pineapple juice with no alcohol. Also the bar wasn’t even busy so it wasn’t like they were overwhelmed with customers. The point is don’t waste your time or money here. You also have to pay with cash. If you want to pay with card there is a $50 minimum plus a 10 cover fee to get into the club. They were only serving older men and could careless about anyone else. If I could give this place negative stars I would.
The reviews make me laugh so hard that its unreal... 90% of these bad reviews r from entitled people that didnt get they way. So they come to write a review like they voice mattered when it doesnt. The place is a great place to party but be in dress code and show respect. All the workers show respect until disrespectful. Overall tho most of everyone has a blast when here unless they fked up.
If i could rate -0 I would. A shot of tequila $31.00. ? I’m confused that’s the price of a whole bottle. On top of that it’s a $10 cover. What’s the point lol. Trust me I didn’t order any drinks and if I could get my refund I would.
Drinks are affordable, security makes sure everyone is in good hands. Music is great for everyone. Coming back for sure, don’t let the reviews scare you away. It’s worth the $10 charge, dress accordingly.
Genuinely one of the worst businesses i’ve ever set foot in. hawaii will be a better place when it goes under.
Turned up at 10pm, opening hours. They didnt let us in at 10. Waited for ages. Let us in like 10:10.No door charge for females apparently (score), but they charged our male friend $5.Dollar drinks inside, far too strong.Old music, nothing new. Felt like I was 18 again.Dance floor was good, better than other bars where everyone was sitting. Had a better vibe than other places.
Definitely Crowded to where it can be little much to handle. Bartender was cool, had a Corona waiting for me every time I walked up. Music was good and the drinks were too. Not to expensive but you could blow a $100 easily. In all honesty if it was a little bigger and more open it would be dope. Im just here as a tourist too, bouncers were cool to me every time I came; sorry to anyone who had a different experience. Seen someone post about if you werent a white or a white tourist(dont quote me) you were treated badly. Im a minority and had no trouble. Just think if you come with respect you get it too.
Definitely not a place for African Americans. Bouncers were very nice to the women in front of my friends and I. We walk up give our ID and the bouncer says one of my friends ID is fake. We say, this is the same ID she used to travel. The bouncer VERY rudely kept saying it was fake. We step aside and the next group are white tourist and the bouncer was very respectful. Not a place where they want US. I see other reviews say the same thing. I would give 0 stars if I could.
They treat Kamaʻāina with disrespect. Music is ok and drinks are cheap but not recommended for locals or tourists. I’d hate to see how they treat anyone who isn’t native. Worst possible place to go. Please find anywhere else to go. Security is too up tight and will kick you out for drinking their drinks or for the slightest of reason . I’m not the type to leave a review. I’m very Pono and respectful and would hate to leave a review like this. They do not care and will kick you out for even walking around with drinks. Just get drugged is what they want I suppose. I’ll be sure not to come back and will tell my hoalohas❣️
Ghetto place pretending to be upscale. Amateur bartenders, DJ plays music like it’s a middle school dance. More security than attendees that’ll manhandle you to just get out of their way like they aren’t the service providers.
HANDS DOWN the best bar/club in Waikiki. The hours are fantastic and their bar tenders are fabulous. Security is also outstanding and sexy🥰I WILL BE returning back in June so I’ll see you all soon. One Love from the Cali Girl Keke DANIELS🥰❤️😘
Gave this place a chance despite the bad reviews. They were right. Water costs $4 for a bottle (they don’t give you tap water) and there is a $50 credit minimum. Security is also actively looking to kick people out, and when rules are broken they are selective about who they enforce them on.
You HAVE to wear pants with belt loops. Doesn’t matter how nice your shorts are. I think intent has been lost because of enforcement of a verbatim rule. Allow the security to determine what dress/outfits are considered acceptable for the club based on an understanding of the image the club wants to portray verses a simple “we can’t let you in because you don’t have belt loops” rule. Jeans and khakis pants in a tropical area is ridiculous especially in 2022.
I’ve never been to a “club” with such a bad sound system. Zero Base sounds like your high school $25 cars sound system. Just trash! I don’t usually say this, but I’m pretty sure they are racist. They didn’t let in any of the black women trying to get in. Saying it was for dress code. I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Hmm.
Really cool dance floor with nice lights. Def the jump off spot, open late, usually a dj. These reviews about bouncers being a little “extra” is true. They will warn you, and even kick you out if you walk on the dance floor with a drink - which I think is a FANTASTIC rule! It’s a dope dance floor with lights inside it **
I had a terrible experience here on Saturday night . When I went to the this terrible establishment I kept ordering multiple shots and drinks , I thought I was having a good time until it was time to close out my tab , they said they did not have my I.d or card . Mind you I have pretty good tolerance to alcohol , it was going to take me a lot more to be forgetful . Even after asking 3 times one of the bartenders even got really rude with me . I called my husband & he came down there and asked for my things back & it magically appeared. Now I thought of different scenarios to where maybe they thought I was too drunk but why would that be the case they would just need to close out my tab & stop serving me alcohol . Someone who worked there definitely tried there hardest to keep my I.d & card . Never go bck. They will definitely try to take advantage of you
DO NOT GO! Especially if you are a woman alone. I was ‘forced’ drinks, that did not take, by a couple. When I realized something was very off, I went a bouncer and explained what I assumed was happening. After that I was physically escorted out by the bouncer I expressed my concern to. Please be careful if you are not a local, and maybe to naive. I would just stay away!!!
Worst bar/club Ive ever visited. Im wholly convinced the only people who visit here do so because theres no other options opened around that time. When we visited in January they also had the weirdest rule where a facemask was required at all times on the dancefloor, while if you stood right next to the dance floor, no one would bat an eye. Atmosphere also really wasnt my thing.
$50 minimum, zero crowd, mid music, weak drinks
This is a good place to dance after you have a couple drinks. The dance floor is usually full so get friendly with your partner. Drinks are reasonable priced and the bartenders dont have any problems keeping up with the crowd. Mostly a mid 20s crowd.
Had a couple drinks at the bar . Cool vibes and decent spot to grab a single lady/guy . Not sure about the racists accusations in here as I was able to get in with shorts and slides no problem in December . It’s always about energy so if you come in with that mindset of having a good time you will . Aloha and hang loose !
Do not go to this bar/club it’s a scam. 10$ entrance and 50$ minimum charge which they don’t tell you. Whole stuff unfriendly just looking for a reason to kick you out. Besides that, the music is bad
Since this bar down down street from my hotel thought I stop by but didnt get too far because I never went in due to their bogus dress code. Few issues with this:1. 2 guys (white) in front of me seem to knew the bouncer and they had flip flops and shorts on and let them right in. Soon as I walked up (black guy here) I couldnt enter due to me wearing a sweat pants. Was told because my sweats dont have a belt loop..but the white guys in front of me had swim shorts. Perceived to me seem they vetting certain folks they want in there. Play hip hop but dont want anyone black in there.2. Seem pretty silly to have a dress code for bar in a tourist area where.most people wear shorts and flip flops, dont make any sense. Losing out on money.Ill take my.money elsewhere where Im sure my skin color dont matter.
Shorts okay....sweatpants...not so much. I really wish I knew this before walking 2 miles back to my condo to get ready, shower, change, and walk 2 miles back to the bar....only to get rejected at the door. UPDATE your signage, because I read it thoroughly.
We thought the other reviews were kidding about the dancing. They were not. You can only sit down in the booths and sip your drink. We felt absolutely scammed with the drinks as well - they called the last call at 11:30 and let us buy 2 beers and a shot per person. Then, they turned on the lights at 11:35 and RUSHED people out, and you can’t finish the drinks outside. How are we supposed to finish the drinks in 5 minutes? What a shady business.
Beware - the establishment waters down their drinks by ~50%, so the cheap drinks are not actually a good value. Confirmed by everyone in my party. Music is fairly good, overall vibe is a miss. There are better places to go in Waikiki. Also - there is a MINIMUM $50 charge if using a credit card at the bar. Be warned
This place is ratchet. There is no class here. Just... Want you to know.
Nice space, tons of seating and great drinks. The music wasn’t bad. The room had sports on some televisions and MTV music videos on others. Maybe it’s because we were there “early” for nightlife, but there were a lot of people just standing around and no one on the dance floor.
Play Bar Night Club is in a very nice area and the club itself is in good shape. However, coming from someone who is under 21, the experience is not worth the cover charge of $15. You are restricted to pretty much the dance floor which is small and cramped with the few people that can fit. It’s a shame sense this seems to be the only club that allows 18+.
Decent club, terrible staff. Took 20 minutes to get a bartenders attention to close out, she then yelled at a crowd of us that we had to go to our initial server; which of course most of us didnt know who that was.Respectfully asked a bouncer where to direct me, and he just pushed me back to wait.10 more minutes later, the club owner went to to the bar, thus having security push us out of the way so he could get served quicker.End of it all, took over 45 minutes just to close out with extreme attitude from staff. This was before 1am; before busy closing time.
If I could give it zero, I would! Terrible experience! YOU CANNOT DANCE!!! The DJ made an announcement for everyone to sit down and there are signs around saying no dancing! What kind of bar is this?!?! The DJ was terrible as well! I do not recommend.... spend your money on something else!
Ratchet. That is about the best word to describe this place. I must admit my judgement was based upon only about 10 minutes of actual soberness... Because our friend new the bartender we got hooked up pretty well and then I blacked out - but from what I remember... The place was small and cramped. Its a great location right in the midst of all the things happenin on Kuhio Ave... cover charge is $5 (itd be better if there wasnt a charge) but inside is dark and dim. The light up dance floor is a bit uneven and really dirty. Floors are sticky, and its so packed you can barely walk around anywhere without getting bumped into by other drunkards - but mainly its like a meat market... where the guy to girl ratio is outnumbered 8:1 - just about every girl there is dressed to impress and you got about four guys trying to hunt them down all at the same time.Id almost compelled to give this place two stars but because we got taken care of at the bar and the fact that every guy there is chasing after every girl there - there wasnt much of a wait to get drinks at all. And by the look of photos it looked like I had a good time but i credit the alcohol not the venue.
I was a bit hesitant following the negative reviews. Nevertheless, I had a good time. DJ was great, drinks were good, security was…. That depends on you! I danced! Ppl danced environment felt safe!
I should of read the reviews first. This place has extremely horrible reviews dating back to 5 years ago to now. This is despicable behavior. These people need to be fined and brought up on charges for racial profiling. I’m not going to write a long review. All black people who have encountered an issue with this place need to report them. Do not attempt to gain access to this place. Keep your money, do not waste your time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. REPORT THEM !!!!!!
The bouncer was kind and our waitress was respecful!!! The floors were a little sticky but it’s a nightclub that’s to be expected! Met some GREAT locals and had a good time with the $1 mixed drinks special! If u want a good time in Waikiki this is the place to go! (Around 11pm)
They play hip-hop!! Hooray!! Only thing about this place was it had a mildew type of smell to it but the bartender Rory was awesome! This is not an upscale bar by no means.. its all good to be in flip flops & t-shirts. Great drink specials. We had fun.
Super cheap drink specials, glowing dance floor, Top 40 pop/hip hop, and VERY colorfully diverse and young crowd. This is the right spot if you want to get a little ratchet and feel comfortable enough to make it clap since you are not surrounded by the predominant demographic of caucasian baby boomer tourists that are at most of the local bars. They have a $10 cover at the door, although I hate paying covers the low priced drinks make up for it in the end. They have daily specials that go as low as $1 for a mixed drink on some days....thats crazy. They didnt seem to have a very strict dress code as I saw many different casual styles, which you can see from my photos. There around like 20 bouncers inside keeping a close eye on things so at first I thought it was a strip club, but it turned out to be a very good danceclub. The dj was very much on point and I know good djs bc Im deep in the NYC nightlife scene. He kept the crowd moving even when switching genres from dancehall to hip hop to trap. There are waitresses walking the floor taking orders. The bathrooms are decent. It looks like both locals and tourists mix here and maybe a good place to socialize and meet singles.Overall a cool local spot to turn up with a fun crowd.
We looked up the reviews for this place and almost didnt waste our time going because they were so bad...HOWEVER...Im so glad we went!! The music was lit, the drinks were lit, the vibe was lit! I will say the bartenders were a little rude and wouldnt give us water without paying for it, but other than that we had a blast at this spot and would recommend!
Don’t go here!!!!!!!! Warning!!! the staff is looking for a fight! My boyfriend left bloody. He’s not aggressive at all!!! The bouncers jumped him because he was looking for me in the club!!! Worst place ever.! This is not ok. This club should be shut DOWN!!!! If you’re African American just stay AWAY!!!
Went on a Monday and of course there was nobody. Security werent in any rush to let us in even though it was opening hours as we arrived at 9pm. The security seemed annoyed that I interrupted him while he was eating instead of working.$5 door charge when we were the only people in the club and it was pretty smelly and the glasses were dirty. Cheap drinks...$3 pitchers for draft beer. Wouldnt reccomend this place. A tad shady
If you are a white tourist who shows respect and are willing to pay cash youll be fine. That said, the staff is physically and violently aggressive towards anyone who is neither a white tourist nor a local. It was the only place in town with good music, but seeing certain undesired patrons get punched in the face by staff and their friends was a turn-off.Too local for its own good, probably gonna get shutdown once someone presses charges after being assaulted.
Had a couple drinks with a co worker and security cut us off for drinks for no reason I honestly have no clue why they cut us off. Homeboy with a black collared shirt tried to start a fight with my coworker by saying “You got a eye problem you keep looking over at me?” after the same dude Cut us off from the drinks. Do not waste your time at this spot!
An okay 18+ night club with great music selection.Play Bar is not the most appealing club Ive visited, but if youre young and curious it wont be a complete let down. The music varies between hip-hop, R&B, reggeaton (latin), and some house/dance. Usually an abundance of military as well. Granted the dance floor isnt the biggest and you can expect your shoes to get trampled on quite often. Never the less, it is possible to have a great time with a group of friends.
I was denied access for not having proper attire. And then 1 hr later some guy walks out wearing the same company attire I wear which most likely didnt meet the requirements. If youre gonna enforce the dress code enforce it for everyone not just certain people. Horrible.
Gave a 1 star because they have a ridiculous dress code for hawaii, no lt allowing tank tops on a slow weekday. Posting this on at Tuesday, the day after memorial day. Play bar is not an upscale venue...girls can walk in wearing nearly nothing any day of the week.
I am flabbergasted as I was in Waikiki for the Annual Clown Association meeting and even though I was in my full clown outfit and make-up (was conservatively put together) I was denied entry by the bouncers. I understand that they have the right to refuse service but clowns are people too. All Clowns Unite we need to stand proud.I just they have dancing ... we are coming back tonight in our clown outfits and make-up - Have you ever seen clowns dance to Post Malone - Its da bomb!
Wow!!!! I have never been to a worse club in my life!!! Bouncer and bartender honestly remind me of zombies!!! (No personality what so ever)...very dry!!! Maybe smile for once guys!!! Im on vacation, made it feel like I was in a jail cell!!!...they clearly hate their jobs!!!10$ entrance fee one day, day before it was 5$. Buddy is pocketing the loot fosho. Do not recommend this place for the life of me!!!! Hire some new staff asap!!!
Go Somewhere Else for a Better Place- Only been 4 times- Im under 21 so I pay $15 dollars- Free for 21+- I pay this much because theres not many places that allow 18+ so they get over on me. I heard mainland clubs are better and cheaper.- Dance floor is small and crowded (overpacked on Saturdays)- How good the music is varies on the day. I have heard some good DJs and some boring ones.- Overall: Tight space, okay DJ, weird people
If youre in Hawaii please come and check this place out! From dancing to the drinks to the overall atmosphere this place has it all. The owner is amazing and his staff will take care of you! One of the best nightlife establishments hands down! Highly recommended!
The workers were very rude and were harassing people in my group. The bartenders weren’t hospitable and refused to serve us when we asked questions. Someone from our party got kicked out without warning. Terrible place
Beautiful inside, lit dance floor with bathroom attendant ; however Stronger negative vibe from all the Intimidating bouncers with angry looks that crushed the energy in the room . 🥴 not many people dancing even at 1:30 am.
Honestly wish i could give zero stars but that’s not even a thing.. i went with a group of friends and the security guard looked at me and said there was a “dress code” that i had sweat pants on. They stated that i needed to either have dress pants or shorts on.. Okay... so we went to the ABC store to go buy shorts stood in line AGAIN and we asked okay can we go in now?? the same security made me lift my t-shirt up for him to say “no, those look like swim trunks” and shooed us away.. keep in mind another guy in our group was wearing very similar shorts. I had an odd feeling about the guy from the beginning because before even going in he was specifically targeting me .. oh well you lost almost $100 last night. idiotic
WASTE OF TIME. not a club just a extremely lit up bar. NO DANCING plastered everywhere inside but nowhere outside. Paid $20 to get in just to then be told they closed in 2 hours at 12 and there was no dancing. Why wasn’t this posted on the booth where you pay at? 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Over crowded and if you do find a table and sit down which the party of 7 that I was with did, if someone orders bottle service you will be asked to move. Maybe they should have that area roped off or clearly posted on the outside so you know before you pay 10 dollar cover charge to be disappointed. Much better places in Waikiki to enjoy yourself with a much better atmosphere. And Im not a tourist just visiting Im a local. This is the 3rd time Ive been there and bad experience everytime so yep wont be back.
ZERO STARS!!!! Bad vibes from security. My group got kicked out for sitting down with our masks on and dancing. If it could negative I’d choose it. Only nice ppl were bartenders and servers. Security guard with Z chain sucked!!!!
It got the job done. Pay $4 for a bottle of water. Can only get one free soda gun water with every drink, had to tip the bar back for a refill on WATER. Will not go back, glad I milked this place for what its worth.
Really fun place to be, we went on a Tuesday night. They had a $2 Drink Special. Good music, took song requests. Stayed from 11pm to 1:30am and saw no more than 20 to 30 people in the club.
Great place for people to visit. Friendly local crowd. Place to have a blast along with pretty cheap booze. The owner Chris has a great way with the customers. Place is strict with rules but its for your own safety. Probably the loudest place at waikiki. One of the best clubs Ive visited. Visit for sure for an awesome time and done really great music. Cheers Chris. REX
First bartender looked like she didn’t wana be there and the second one was oooooon 🔥 vibes were there music was good too even though we were the only ones there 🤣
Place opens at 10 and closes at 12, not much time to have fun. Last night in Honolulu, went to the bouncer to ask if we could get in faster if we bought a bottle. He told us to go somewhere else for that service.
Amazing staff! Reasonable prices for Waikiki, the music is definitely amazing! The DJ plays what the crowd wants, great vibes! Only place we found in Waikiki with party vibes all night! Definitely recommend!
Well worst club or whatever you want to call it!!! Im from Atlanta this spot wouldve been shut down the first week of opening and security wouldve been taken out back and whooped definitely not a spot for blacks or people close to it smh please read all of the reviews!! O wish I wouldve!!!
Was told as an out of state guest, staying on beach front, could not attend their venue because I had jersey shorts and button up polo shirt, coming from mid-west of United States, wouldnt recommend because of the discrimination
$10 cover for NOTHING! music was terrible. Drinks were very over priced. Shots were small, probably half a shot for $11. There was no crowd at all, people came and left.
Back in 2015 it had the best bar and bouncers. The bouncers had the best in mind for the drunk military. Would absolutely recommend due to the bouncers especially homeboy that was like 66 that had my ba k and treated me like ohana.
Entered with 2 girls over 21 and a 18 y.o girl. It was the first two girls birthdays so i offered to invite them to a drink. I was told by the bar tender that i needed all my friends at the bar before i could buy them a drink. So i got everyone to come to the bar when the same girl told me i was missing the red bracelet. Another dude politely showed me the door where the bouncer was giving the red bracelets and asked me to get one. So i waited at the door waiting for the bouncer to get me a bracelet, when the angry bloke shouted something along the line of why are you staring at me like a f*** **** do you wnat me to bash you ??? At that point i left without responding. Go to Kellys or Mooses . these guys have a lot to learn about respecting their customers.
They have a lady managing the bathroom that harasses you to tip her. She offered me hand lotion then went on to harass me to tip her because ‘the service isn’t free’.
Security was great but the bartender was not. I asked for a cup of water and she refused. Instead she wanted to charge me $4 for a bottle. She was extremely rude about it too.
The dance floor is way too small, the bouncers are always picking fights with customers. The music is decent and its one if the few clubs that stay open until 4
Some of the staff are disrespectful and the crowd that comes there are ratchet and have no respect. I know its a bar but damn the girls in there have no self control its like people are looking for a fight. If u want to see some girls that cant control there liquor and looking for a fight with shity customer service thats the place to go. Omg and dont get me started on how the look..lmao
Dance floor gets packed, hip hop music, good place to end the night if your toasty. Dont be hostile at all if someone has a problem with you, leave. Occasional fights outside, dont get involved.
The worst club in Waikiki. Customer service is non existent and drinks are watered down / expensive. PSA they close at 11:00 not 4:00 AM dont waste your time standing in line to get in, the bouncers simply wont talk to anyone after 9:00.
Dress code too extensive. This is HAWAII..AN ISLAND. ITS marketed as a black hiphop club. The dress code is meant to keep African Americans out. I could not get in b.c. of my Hawaiian shorts. Do not come to this place.
Was excited to come here as its open till 4am. Music wasnt great, $10 cover, and long wait times at the bar. Cant dance with a drink.
My friend had on a 2 piece jump suit . And they wouldn’t let us in on a Wednesday….:( very disappointing especially since we’ve hosted events here before.
Don’t go here. They took my drink and told me to leave with no explanation. And that’s after spending 200+ on drinks for way more than myself. They won’t tell you why, once you’ve spent enough you’re out. They hunted me down and kicked me our once I closed my tab, end of story.
Showed up and turns out dancing isn’t allowed?? What’s the point of a club with no dancing? That just makes this a bar…So call it what it is: a bar. Don’t waste your time like I did.It even says dancing right here on google maps. I don’t get it
I will say I go here cause my buddy likes this place a lot. But the bouncers actually ruin the mood with how aggressive and mean they are.
IS NOT 18+Bouncer turned us away and said Google wont let them change it (bs)Super rude aswell
Dress code which we thought.. okay. But then we get in and it’s 0/10. No dancing and weird vibes. Save your $5 and go to McDonald’s for a Big Mac.
Stay away from this place if you dont want to ruin your impression of Hawaii. The music is awfully old and switching every 15 seconds. The security personnel is super rude and swears on you, like if trying to pick a fight or provoke, so is the manager.Generally speaking this is a place for pure savages.
If you’re a normal person, disregard the negative reviews. This is a great spot. DJ mixes a solid set. Highly recommend if you’re visiting, especially during covid with limited options.
Absolute joke of a place. Bouncers lie to get people kicked out and then ask for money to get back In. Go any where else. Clown show.🤡🤡 I hope this place closes down for the hood of Hawaii
Dont come here...this place is not very welcoming to African Americans.. ..I love to have fun especially on vacation...but this place is not where I would if I was African American. Security person ( African American with blonde dyed hair cut made me feel very uncomfortable)
Literally turning it up doesnt make it better. Couldnt even get in the door the blasting music was so bad. Basic beats with no rythum that you can hear 5 blocks away. I feel sorry for the people at the hotels in the area, its just noise for the the sake shakingof loud noise shaking the curb.... Or maybe the ground is just trembling in terror.
Great club with wonderful, attentive staff. Although no dancing is strictly enforced due to COVID, the DJ will have you yearning to get down!
Horrible attitude with the bouncer trying to take my 20 dollars and then another 15 to go in. I will never come here again. The bouncer let the men in front just come in and he didn’t even check his ID. Don’t waste your time !!! I would give it negative stars but you can’t do that.
Went there on a Saturday was dancing with my wife and the security guard kicked me out which I wasnt messing with anyone. Ill never go here again thanks a lot.
Great place to grab a drink and dance!Ignore the bad comments…. If you are nice and respectful with the people here, they will return you with the same! Thank you for the great night! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Staying at a hotel, I googled nearby bars to see what on Gods green earth could be playing bass so loud at 3am while patrons shout into oblivion. This is clearly it. Feels like Im in hell. Id give anything for the sweet silent void of release from this mortal plane.
To be completely honest it was a pretty awful club.Drinks not a great price and also bouncers seemed to be quite intrusive.Whilst not seeing the other offerings of nearby clubs, cant say Id go here on any occasion. Maybe could be busier in peak season?
I wish I could give this place 0 stars notfriendly or nice at all. the bouncers were super disrespectful and didn’t let us in. smh said our ids were fake
Absolute garbage place, Canadians here on vacations and the bouncer was super rude and didn’t let us in just for stepping out when we were allowed to come back in and out for the night.. don’t waste your time on this spot, scam city
Beware. They kick you out for dancing...this place needs to close, they dont know how to run a proper club, this place is cursed, beware go some where else or get kick out for dancing....
Don’t go there they’ll just kick you out without telling you what happened. I am a very calm person and I was kicked out. I asked why? And they Said they don’t know🤷♀️.
Extremely bad services . Charge £14 for cranberry amd vodka. What a kind a rip off. Music was decent.. There is better clubs out there out waste Ur time here
Playbar is by far my favorite bar in Waikiki, cheep drinks with good music. Lots of people at night. Shun was a sweetheart and always made sure our drinks were full!
My ATL Crew had a GREAT time here on a Wednesday night. DJ was AMAZING!!! GREAT managment!! The whole team showed love. Stop by when visiting Waikiki.
Great hip hop music , the 1 star ratings are fake
My partner and I were refused the entry because he was wearing shorts (??!!!). In Hawaii, yep, people tends to wear shorts... So be more prepared than us ;)
Hmmmm. Needs better management. Seems they only know how to throw people out. Great music though.
Dunno whats everyone so upset about but im having a blast on a wednesday night. Cheap drinks good crowd nice services. I guess if you play nice you get to be treated nice? Or maybe its just luck. But still good night so far
I did not like it there. Under 21 cant get in until 10:30. Dont understand that logic. Very rude. I took my shoes off to dance and got in trouble and kicked out.
Theres a reason why its 2.4 stars..update your policy and club photos..acting like youre in Los Angeles expecting everyone to be in ties and suit when your homepage is filled with everyone wearing casual outfits
Ok not the best option bouncers are cool. The girls are ok they are humans too. Too long to get a drink and cant bring drink on the floor.
Worst entry conditions and rude security guard - no plain white T-shirts allowed ?! I’ve been going clubbing in Waikiki for years and everybody I know avoids this bar! Not recommended
Tried to to buy a bottle at 10:30 pm (opens at 10pm), was.told all the bottles and tables were sold out. I guess I didnt really fit the part they wanted.
Wack place and men are required to have shorts with belt loops. Such a pointless rule and easy way to lose money .
I love their music cause the play a lot of hip hop but other than that it’s waaaaayyyyy too crowded and there’s a lot of sketchy activity there to the point that you may not wanna go alone, but it’s always open late and there’s always hella ppl there, just don’t expect much more than wildlife in and outside of that club, oh and good luck finding parking
This was the worst experience of my life. The rules are ridiculously strict. If you are under 21 you are restricted to go to a certain part of the club. The employees are unbearable. Terrible...
Noisy, fun and drunk))) danced until closing time. Polite staff, nice people.
The worst experience ever! Got kicked out for no reasons. Locals here think they are better than everyone and will kick you out.
Small and very crowded. $10 to get in if over 21. $20 if under 21. You must pay the $20 again if you leave and come back (under 21). People under 21 are also restricted to only half of what already felt like a small club.
Staff was extremely good to my husband and I but we really couldn’t do the smellscape. Please do something about the smell of urine cause we wouldn’t have stayed all night
Over crowded for the most part. Which makes it unable to experience the potential. Good drinks. 2 dollar long islands when I was there lol . But its okay
Ladies, watch your drinks and dont accept any free drinks from guys. There are predators out there. Be careful.
Cover charge but the inside is terrible. No dancing allowed, and a $50 minimum to use card. Waste of time and money.
Bouncers don’t know how to do their job. Clearly don’t know what a real ID looks like and tenured confiscate actually IDs of people of age. How embarrassing
Came to check it out on vacation. Club opens at 10. Closes at 12. By the time we went thru the long line and got inside it was closing time. Super disappointed I wasted my Friday night.
The best dance club so far! They play variety of music!
$1 drinks, enough said. Small place, but very fun. Good hip hop and rap music
The ratio of women to men in this place is madness. Five girls for every guy. Full moon?
Kicked me out for no good reason while I was just trying to dance definitely recommend not coming to this place.
They dont want you as a customer. Im not sure why they exist but its probably to launder money.
Love the people. Dress code is loose. Place is a lot of fun. 18+ military friendly
Just dont bother... not worth the drama with the waitresses going against eachother. .
The service was great and the people were nice, but this place smells very strongly of urine. I almost couldnt drink in there.
Club was fun, dancing was fun but staff just seemed rude and unfriendly. Also if youre under 21 they physically take your ID
Bar was fun but my wife needed water cause she was drunk and they refused unless she paid money. Worst customer service ever.
Mutual. We went.on the legends pub crawl tonight and have to say, was left pretty damn dissapointed!!.dont get sucked in... feel free to ask qs. (Nothin against the pl)
Great atmosphere with cheap drinks. Music selection lit. Wish the dance floor was bigger
READ THE REAL REVIEWS. The security discriminate against certain types of people and WILL kick you out without offering you a reason. Stay away!
Save your money. You’re literally not even allowed to dance. Not by yourself. Not with others. No dancing AT ALL. (At least until COVID is over)
Great time! decently priced drinks, fun crowd and a friendly staff. worth checking out
This was the spot for hiphop...Im from CALI and this club showed love..the bouncers were cool and treated me right..much alohas..
The worst bar Ive ever been at. The drinks are as bad as the music...
One of the security guys was super rude and was even staring into the girls bathroom honestly he was enough to make me not want to go back
Security tries to kill your vibe when you’re just trying to have fun. Go somewhere else.
Complete waste of time. Whatever was going on was NOT music and definitely NOT dancing. Just jocks jumping like hoodlums in a circle to offensive rap.
Its UNREASONABLE to charge $4 for water. Something that should be free. If I wanted bottled water, I would’ve asked for it.
Security is very racist & rough, grabbed me like a piece of meat
Open from 9-12am due to Covid. Get there before 11 because once they reach capacity, you will not get in.
This place is horrible. Security has a huge ego. Don’t go here! It’s super ghetto.
Laid back. Had a cool time. Prices were excellent. So, no complaints.
Place is too small, DJ only played Hip Hop music. I would not return.
Well when I do visit Honolulu in July I’m definetly steering away from this place , bloody awful reviews ,but surprisingly the business still survives but not to long with these types of reviews ....
Lovely dance floor but its kind of shady and smells rank.
Great atmosphere music and waitresses!! Came on vacation but will recommend to others!
Not a fan, over priced, kind of dirty. Dance floor is cool, but really small.
Dont spend your money here. Go to Smiths U ion bar, youll have a better time
All the reviews are right dont waste your time , This club isnt for fun
Bad vibes, rude staff.. good Dj and ambiance..but I will never go again
Great music and staff, but my livingroon is bigger that their dance floor
Incompetent bouncer. Needs to learn to read foreign IDs.
