Great dive venue with some interesting characters frequenting it. They sometimes have some good music and always cheap drinks. Ive rarely been here when it has been crowded but it used to ALWAYS be full of cigarette smoke (which Im not a smoker and find smoke disgusting but almost everybody in this joint seemed to be a chain smoker) so this place VASTLY improved when they stopped indoor smoking in NOLA. It seems they dont have as much live music as they used to so it isnt on my regular rotation but I still end up here a few times a year.
Was listening to band at jam session when for no apparent reason someone came up and turned off the mikes. The people performing were good so not sure why thus was done. Will not return.
It was loud yet intimate, definitely a fun dive.Cheap drinks. (I was very surprised at my tab.) Only on the street parking. But its in a neighborhood.
Great neighborhood bar with friendly locals. One of the few places for live music in Midcity. Back in the day on Wednesdays, a band called Major Bacon would serve free BLTS!! 🥓🥬🍅 Plenty of food options from the neighbors, Pizza, burgers and breakfast joints. Got shade and plenty of outdoor seating. Thanks for letting me hang out.
The place was clean neat the tables was nice and shiny. Napkins in the napkin holder. And the service was prompt. Nobody complained about nothing. The cashier was on her game and the cooks was nice friendly and on top of they game. Dressed.nice and neat and clean uniforms. Even outside was clean. I love MELBAS from Jeanie Crockett
This was a good spit to stop for a drink and the food next door at Bubs was delicious. Definitely stop in!
Elvis was right. PEANUT BUTTER does Compliment a Burger .
Great dive bar on the street car line! Bubs burgers are delicious!
Live shows here under new mgmt have been so cringey (white rapper night, woo) Order a margarita and the bartender slides you a white claw. Despite the broken chairs and sticky tabletops drinks aint even that cheap. There are hundreds of dive bars in this city you should visit before trying out this spot.
A geoup of 8 of us came through on vacation and made this our first stop. We had the pleasure of having Mel as our bartender and she made the best bloody mary that any of us had had in our lives! That includes all the ones we had throughout the city during our week there. Some of us came back the next day and a different bartender admitted he couldnt make bloody marys like Mel. This place gave us the best welcoming to the city. The only downside is that theres no number to call so I can ask how she made them. Thanks again!
A great neighborhood dive bar thats been around forever. Fantastic place to visit to meet locals, get cheap drinks and more than likely catch some music. A good amount of seating both indoor and out with ample amenities make it worth the visit.
I hope to post some pictures soon. Well I was impressed with this place. The neighbor sandwich shop was actually integrated into each other. You could order a Philly and drink all at once. Well decorated and friendly atmosphere and what this place got a 5th star was for the music. You play eightys and you win right off the bat. It wasnt all new wave however I heard that throughout the week you will hear just about every genre. Also the place was very clean. I totally recommend.
Super chill bar, lots of local talents come here. Beer is cheap as any. Has a very Ms Maes feel to it. Stage is big enough to accommodate most bands, I could even imagine a metal band performing. Cool place.
This bar was great. The bar tender was awesome, and the people were friendly. We played at least 10 games of air hockey and counldnt have had a better time. They had great drink specials the night we were there but it is cash only so be aware. They do of course have an ATM in the back if you need cash.
5/5 starts was in town for Buku with some friends from Texas. Our Air BNB happened to be nearby and our host recommended Banks St. Bar.First I’ll start with the staff… All very friendly and welcoming made us feel like we were back home. Drinks were made really well too!Second the customers… The regulars that came in were also very cool and welcoming, lots of diversity everyone was so free spirited and just welcoming. Had a really nice time meeting the staff and customers!Third the location… location is perfect, located near, a few restaurants, even by a barbershop, definitely can’t beat that. I will definitely come back to revisit Banks! I highly, highly recommend!Becca, Mya, Mikayla and Kerian were awesome bar staff!
Cool divey bar with a surprisingly good lineup of live music. The food comes from the place next door, which is pretty good. The bar tenders were friendly and attentive, if a bit understaffed for a relatively busy night.
Its like Cheers, but with hot bartenders. Its been even better now since the new management actually cares about the place. The music and other entertainment is a lot better than it used to be, and theres Trillys Cheesesteaks next door (they have vegan versions of their menu items). Its a great place to hang out
Naomi is the best bartender west of the French Quarter! Bank Street Bar has everything I want from a neighborhood bar: a level pool table, cool art everywhere, a solid selection of craft beer, and covered outdoor seating with large tables and good lighting.
Best little dive bar in mid city. Very easy meet people and the drinks are cheap. I have seen a few hidden gems of music here and there is never any cover.
Was attending a friends show there last night. I had brought this friends my stage lighting to barrow for the night. The Doorboy hassled me about bringing it in but ultimately let me in with lights. I proceeded to set them behind sound booth and say hello to some friends. The doorboy proceeded to not only take the light boxes but my backpack and other personal items outside on the street And proceeded to tell me that “my kind” are not welcome there and to never return to the bar again! Not sure what “my kind” are but If it’s mid 30s, kind and understanding is “my kind” Then I will gladly stay away but I am truly baffled Why the doorboy raised his voice multiple times, cursing and making a scene out of kicking me out. He was the one that seemed high on something other than liquor.
Management fired the entire staff and imposed draconian measures to get the to be rehired including telling staff that only managers are allowed to be high on marijuana. This restaurant’s owners are ok with their managers violating federal law and be high. Is that the kind of place you want to give your business to? Probably not.
A really solid dive bar with Philly cheese steak and other bar snacks served from an attached kitchen/ pop up most nights. Free BLTs on Wed nights. Good live music. Open way late.
Someone slipped something in my wife’s drink at this place last night. It maybe a great neighborhood bar. Beware ladies. Thanks to her friend she got home safely.
It wasnt my scene at all and the people were very judgmental because we were too normal the bathroom is like a stall on the dancefloor area n it smells like a big armpit literally. But if your into the college punk ska metal scene this is your place to go. Maybe it was just the band they had that night bc the time I went b4 then was totally different so either the band just brought that crowd or it just changed.
Its a cute and funky bar with live music each night. New owners just put in a beautiful new bar. Picnic style tables outside on a tree lined street.
The new management has done a nice job with this place and it has become a great neighborhood bar. They have a suprisingly nice mezcal selection, and some of the weeknight bands are actually pretty good these days!
Aesthetically very nice. Bartenders are quite snouty though and act like they’re doing you a favor when you buy a drink. Not my type of joint.
I am conflicted about Banks Street Bar. First of all, they have Ghost in the Machine on tap. Plus, you can totally order from Trillys next door, which is fantastic when you are eating food. Im not, right now. I gave up food for Lent. Seriously. I am hard core, right?!?Anyway, I went to open mic night, once, to play my ukulele, and it was lame, so Im going to let that color my entire experience for life, because internet, and now the entire emotional impression that is the Banks Street Bar includes no one that can do sound and a comedian that keeps a whole crowd out in the sidewalk while everyone else is open-miking. Rude.It is also fairly seedy, but it has a pool table, so 4 stars.
Five star bartender. Burger Joint next door is top notch.
Ok, this is not the cutest bar ever, but the mojitos are everything! In a tourist hell hole city that has been completely white washed, this place is serving a couple of pre-blended mojitos that restore my faith in mass-produced food stuffs.
Fun locals-oriented dive bar with a friendly atmosphere, fantastic bartenders, and great vibes. Good priced drinks as well, they make a good margarita!
Tons of fun, live music, pool tables, street b parking but great area for this bar for music and within the surrounding blocks different food and its a nice quiet area, very popular venue for local Live bands
Bubs Burgers next door is fantastic and Bank Street has a great vibe and great music that you dont normally see anywhere else in town.
It’s nice and chill place to hang out. You can meet cool people in this place and drink prices are affordable. I absolutely like to spend time here to meet new people and make friends.
The bartenders are friendly & they mix drinks to perfection. I ordered a Hennessey & Cranberry & lets just say I will be back for more.
We ended here after a pub crawl in mid city. Another great neighborhood bar in New Orleans. They have a podium with live music.
A perfectly decent dive bar to get crunked and meet some weirdos.Thankfully it is rarely packed, so you can takeover a booth and play solipsistic card games with your friends, or listen to bad loud music.
Takes forever to get a drink, even if theres no one else at the bar. The band MATTED was playing and they were amazing, they alone got the place a second star.
WORST BAR IN MIDCITY!! B**** bartender stole half my change and and then claimed, I dont steal from people! Id have given it to her as tip if she hadnt deducted it from my change! Come here for a good rip-off, lousy service, and bad music. #WORSTOFNOLA
Yikes. Two warm paradise park drafts for $16. Gouging notwithstanding, thats borderline hotel prices at this humble dive. RIP old friend.
Love this place. Its my on deck watering spot!Thursdays ladies night is where its at.
Dive bar in Midcity. Lots of cool locals during the day. Sometimes live music with a cover at night. Go get yourself a boilermaker- a shot+a beer is $5!
I live right down the street from this bar literally a block the guy at door which have to be new because I been staying around over 10 years and been going to this bar now the people who was walking ahead of me he let them in without asking for a I’d or anything but when I walk up he’s asked me for my id and I’m like are you serious it’s obvious that your new because I’m a regular and I have a full grown beard but instead I still showed him id then goes to tell me I can’t let you in because your id expired June 2 and today is June 14 and mind you I’m 33 years old and I asked am I the only one you asked for id no response cool I said that to say this I will never ever spend my money with this bar ever because don’t just ask me for I’d ask everybody and did I mention I’m black at a Dominant white and never had a problem until now and that was horrible and a disgrace
Great place to see local talent and have a few drinks. Off the beaten path and way more chill than anywhere downtown.
It was HOT in there. I dk if its always like that but i seriously had to drink a constant flow of icewater to stay cool outside because at least outside there was a sligjt breeze. Inside was hot like a kitchen in the back of a chinese restraunt, hot and stuffy
Live Music every night, variety of genres. Diverse group of good, friendly bartenders.
Its a cool bar with cool bands, but way too expensive. a rum and coke here was $7
Not a bad spot. Usually has live music and there is a pool table. Drink prices are also reasonable.
Dive bar vibe. Pool table. Outside seating. Good beer on tap. Small restaurant next door for food.
Local vibe and great music. Not to mention the great food next door.
Music was too loud. Female bartender was rude. We left after 2 drinks a CD wont be back.
Monday Night Free Red Beans and Rice and $ Jameson. Live Music every night of the week. Very friendly bar staff for this divey, neighborhood joint.
Employees here are only allowed to do a little bit of speed as a treat, managers can have as much as they want 😟
I actually went to this bar when I went to NOLA- but your staff MADE the experience soooo you guys super suck now.
Wish they had a cider beer but the entertainment was perfect.
Cool place , food I tried was good , love the fried pickles , big screen TVs for watching the games , outside seating to eat or smoke .
The drinks were awesome. The burger place next door was just ok.
Awesome music and great people. This is one of the best neighbor hood bars Ive ever been in.
Great place. Was the second stop on my bands tour and everyone was super nice and great!
Total local bar. Good people, good times, good friends.
Great neighborhood dive bar. The bartender is great. Very friendly atmosphere.
Absolutely love this place! One server was lame and only served a couple people while the other lady hustled her butt off.
Excellent service, a perfect total dive bar. Crazy locals, very fun!
Small bar has a decent vibe. Attentive bartenders.

Nice people, good drinks, and dog friendly.
Great dive vibe minus a star for the restrooms lol. But forreal will come back to Banks time and time again
I will want another burger in 2 hours. You will want more than one. I dare you
The people here are unusually nice. The bartender Woody is the best ever.
Bar was out of every alcohol and beer except high life and creme de cassis.
A great neighborhood dive with free live music and a fun crowd.
Cool hangs every time I go there

Chill spot. Good music, good food next door.
Great shows! Always an enjoyable crowd.
Cool place to hang with the locals get drink and chill
Great music, great bartenders and great drinks.
Best bloodymary Ive had in a minute, excellent beer selection.
Nice sidebar on banks in a great old New Orleans historic neighborhoods and they have great people
Hole in the wall bar. Terrible decor with bands playing what feels like unnecessary noice.
Inexperienced bar tender on a busy Saturday night
Smells like pee sometimes. Music is v loud. I will always go back.
Always a great crowd, and friendly, attractive staff.
Takes forever to get a drink. Bartenders would rather talk to their friends then sell drinks.
Its a decent dive bar nice bartenders
A classic NOLA dive. Relaxed and the staff is nice.
Late Night, Good Fun and Great Philly Steak Sub
An incredible improvement over what it used to be, without losing its dive charm.
Comfy, great choices for drinks, good location.
Very chill bar, worth checking out.
Cool place for live music and a drink
Awesome bartenders, chill patio.
This bar was great for the last stop of the night
This place has the loosest slots and fanciest women
Awesome bar! Kamile at the bar is the best!
Creepy clientele and alot of um activity going on in this place. And not good activity.
