My favorite place and especially favorite bartender Margo here! If you’re in NOLA, you have to come here. They are continuously adding improvements as well to this already awesome bar! Mystery shot is amazing as well😎
One of my fave music venues. It sits on the border of the quarter and frenchmen so it occupies a weird middle. Can feel a bit sketchy from there to Envie Espresso at night. Otherwise, always have great music, seating and standing + another bar and small courtyard in the back. Their cocktails are fun and all nola / music inspired. Great bands for a younger crowd in the evening. Not playing Jazz all the time. For example, I saw a soul cover of Forrest Gump by Frank Ocean one night.
An iconic and historic spot in FQ, this club host many of popular and upcoming bands. Has a huge floor in front of the stage to sit and enjoy, or dance with while the bands perform. No cover, bars are available in front and back. Drinks are pretty good and decently priced. Bar tenders take good care and have good skills. There’s a beautiful small patio in the back, with gorgeous murals.
Nancy Lil Red Gros ! One of our locals from Marrero. She puts on a great show, as she has an outstanding voice and non-stop movement on the stage as she performs. The club, been going for years as they quite often have good musicians. Be prepared to stand, there is not much in the way of seating. Service, also limited , 2 bartenders, only one was provided service.
This place rocks. Its just a bar. When I came here, the jazz band SingleMaltPlease was doing a live show. The bar has a number of cocktails inspired by various musicians, each of which tasted great. This is a great, chill place.
BMC is one of the really good destinations for a legit NOLA music club experience. Great location on the very edge of the French Quarter, near the Market and Frenchman Street. During the afternoon and early evening no cover and very reasonable drink prices. Good selection of local draft beers, fully stocked bar and nice staff.
Not too many people there when we went. It was early but the artists were great!
Great place, great music and I will always frequent this place when I go to New Orleans.
Went for a night cap... And guess who shows up... Craig Robinson. Unannounced and no advertisement at all. We were there watching the band about to leave and I looked to my left and saw somebody walking in. Didnt take me but a second to recognize him. He got on stage and did an impromptu show. Kind of a medley and had really good audience participation. Drink prices are good atmosphere is good and not too crowded.
Amazing music. NOLA gem. The sax player slays (everyone is fab). No cover. Great drinks, good prices. Tip the band!!!!
Out of all of the clubs in and around Frenchmen, this one was one of our favorites. Just a short block off Frenchmen street on Decatur heading towards the French Market. No cover. Great vibe of the club and people. Music was spectacular. We went several times. They always hosted great performers from a touch of jazz inspired folk to some smoking hot brass jazz. Absolutely loved it. Unlike some of the places on Frenchmen, its not crammed packed although I have a feeling that will change with this review to waiting line! It is only standing room. No real tables or stools. Just be prepared for that. Walk up bar at the back was perfect. Well be back here.
Always good music, inexpensively. The listed cocktails are decent. Otherwise stick to something simple.
L.O.V.E. Just saw Dapper Dandies, a definite MUST SEE especially for lovers of Dixieland/Jazz band music.
This place was so much fun! The live band playing was AWESOME! I can’t remember their name but the lead singer was a woman who had a great voice! The crowed was perfect. And when it got late mad they started taking tables away they offered us a free drink for taking our table. I definitely suggest giving this place a shot.
My mother and I love spending our evening here listening to local bands. The bartenders are always friendly. I love that we can hear such a great variety of music in one evening.
Great staff and good drinks in a chill bar with stellar entertainment for a casual afternoon wander through the city. On New Years Day we lucked into a Jon Roniger and the Good For Nothin Band show and really enjoyed chilling out with a beer, chatting a little with the band, and hanging out. Could have flown home after that day a happy camper.
Whatever musicians you had February 14th at 7 were absolutely amazing. We were on a timeline but stopped in for 1 song. We stayed for a long time
This is a cool jazz club. We stopped in for a drink and ended up staying a few hours. We watched this band called Friends Who Play, and they were so amazing. The bartender was great as well. Definitely recommend stopping into this place
Nice bar with often live music. By occasion a bit quiet and empty. Could use a bit more furnishing. But we visited in the afternoon, it could be different experience on a busy night. Great selection of beverages.
No cover, GREAT music! Authentic local band totally slaps. Played nothing but absolute bangers. Tip them!!
This place can be a lot of fun with the right music. They have a lady who hypes the crowd and shes amazing, freaky, and funny. Its a good mix of every type of party-goer. Give it a shot. But now, most shots are spilled on the slippery dance floor. Whoops!
Now I know what BMC stands for. We live right down the street on Esplanade and always hear terrific music coming out of this clubs doors. I sit in front of our place and listen to the music. Happened to stop in at the BMC on Sunday and found an incredible band that was playing a couple of Otis Redding songs just perfectly. Everyone was singing along and friendly and staff was cordial and it was a beautiful afternoon respite, pre Siesta kind of thing while my wife shopped at The French Market across the street. Great fun.
Is incredible how a simple place can be so awesome at nights. Excellent music, bands are greats, drinks are good but the music make this place magic.
Show the band some love. they are not holding back
Youll experience a fantastic show!
This was a great spot for some music. It was not busy at all, but the band we saw, Duane Bartels Band, was probably the highlight of my stay in New Orleans.
Very fun place, they have live music everyday. usually a couple of bands play 4 night, and the drinks are very reasonably priced so although the venue is somewhat small its more of an intimate vibe then crushed feeling. Had a really good time, and Im definitely going back the next time
Really enjoy the intimate atmosphere here. Very relaxing while listening to the various bands that grace the stage performing the music they love.
Stopped in looking for a live music and stayed for two different bands on a Saturday night. Great entertainment, nice open layout, some seating, good vibes from the crowd. No cover, so be sure to have cash to tip the bands!!
Stumbled across this place where Kyle Lacey and the Harlem River band were playing . Great music, great entertainers. Excellent sound system. The place should have been packed, but wasnt. Service and drink prices really good.
Awesome live music. Tasty bar food. I especially like the pizza rolls. They are big and flavorful. Good bar selection. There is a patio bar where you will have a nice time, with a drink of your choice. While listening to live music. Make sure to order an appetizer. The bartenders are very nice and friendly. I especially enjoyed chatting with Brady. Ask for her, she offers drink specials. And she is just simply nice and friendly to begin with. The bar is very nice looking too.
Amazing energy and vibe. Drinks are the cheapest Ive seen! And they were not watered down! The bands were amazing! A lot key spot that I will return to!
This place wasnt crowded at the beginning of the night, but was full by the end of the night. The band played long and hard and I really enjoyed the music here. There is plenty of space to stand, to sit and to dance. The drinks were pretty good. The staff was nice and friendly.
The music is always good, and there is usually a fun crowd out on the dance floor. I really want to love this place, and did for a while, but... The beer is $1 or more, than anywhere else near Frenchmen, which is a little annoying. The great food on the back patio is no longer there, I used to eat there every chance I got. The bartenders always are a bit slow as they are usually talking to somebody, which is nice if youre that somebody, but if youre not...The last time I went, I saw one of the bartenders get huffy when she had to list off the light beer she had to a tourist, which they have decent selection out back, but not too many light beers. Then after the customer started to walk away she yelled at him to come back and told him that when she serves a beer she expects a tip and that he should just leave and not come back. I turned and left, but I wish I had said something, which is probably why Im writing this review.I almost always leave a tip for beer, but I certainly dont feel obligated to tip for someone to grab a bottle and pop the top. And the times I wont tip is if I dont think they do their job well, like they are being a bit rude or made me wait for 5 minutes while they have a conversation. I may eventually go back again, over looking this incident and the other things for the music and the fun crowd, but I certainly wont feel as good about going or recommend the place like I did when I first started going there.
Great drinks. I had a Muddy Water, that you really should try, even youre like me and dont usually drink cocktails. The music changes during the late afternoon and evening, like most bars. The music was good, but dont expect to always hear New Orleans jazz. One band played slot of 70s music. Its still worth a stop in for a drink. And if they have the chairs out, a place to sit down, take a load off and listen to some good music.
LOVE THIS BAR! We just happened to stop in on a Sunday evening, while visiting New Orleans, because it was the first bar we heard that had live music. The first band, Snake and The Charmers, were so much fun and played great music! The venue is cool, the drinks are cheap and the music is even better. I cant wait to go back the next time we visit!
Went in on a Monday for drinks and some live music. First off the live music is the reason to check this place out. The bar service is poor the drinks were good but the bar tender was more interested in her phone or flirting with dudes at the bar. We only had a chance to get two drinks because both girls working downstairs were more interested in taking shots with drunk dudes. I want to give this place 1 star but the musicians dont deserve that. If the music was as good as the bar service I would have easily dropped 100 bucks and rated this place 5 stars.
Biggest collection of Paul Reed Smith guitars Ive EVER seen. Great friendly staff (even for THIS newbie)! State of the art fret reworking equipment.
The entertainment here is tops and just close enough to Frenchman to be near all the other clubs but just far enough away to avoid the crowded spaces of places like the spotted cat. We saw a brass band here one Saturday afternoon and ended up staying a lot longer cause it was just a chill joint! The mixed drink i got was a little too sweet for my tastes however.
Big Mike and the R&B Kings were Awesome! The door man was fantastic and reeled us in. We were so glad he did! Cheap drinks, Great music, clean bathrooms and friendly staff! Dont hesitate on this one!
Every band that plays here are great. The food is yummy as are some of their signature drinks. Best of all the customer service of the staff. Highly recommend getting of Bourbon to check out BMC, and ask for Actress Michelle Torres to serve u!
I had yet another great time.. The band was wonderful like always and I danced until I could go anymore.... Lol the drinks was amazing. Everyone was so friendly.
Very inviting. One of the easier places to get into for good live music on a crowded night. They have no strict coverage charge policy. In fact, its almost an honor system. Youll respect this and wind up spending more money here than you thought you would. A brilliant business model!
A lot of fun BUT it depends on the bands that are playing. We were there on Tuesday the night before Halloween The band that was playing at 9:30pm was very good, playing mostly jazz from the prohibition period. The band that followed played rock, they were talented but was to loud for the small club, the singer was insulting. He asked for requests but ridiculed choices.I am just visiting so I am not aware of the names of the bands that played but if you call the club I am sure they can help you out.
Perfect place to go if you wanting to hear some real jazz music. The Bartender Kai was very kind and knowledgeable about suggesting particular drinks. Will definitely be coming back!
First of all, this is a dive bar. Its not corporate, its not pretty, its not sparkling clean. Its dark, musty, and small. But for authentic live music in an unpretentious joint in the French Quarter this is the place to be. No cover charge. Drinks are on the expensive side and seating is limited. But with music this good, who wants to sit? The older people who still enjoy a great band did sit and they looked like they were having a great time.
Awesome stage with great sound system for you to enjoy all the wonderful musicians that preform there. Ample selection of booze and a patio area to enjoy some fresh air or a good cigar. A must see in The Quarter!
This place is amazing. The music was great, and Jessie, our bartender, made our evening with her humor and excellent service. I will be coming back here any time I am in New Orleans.
Such a cool low key place to listen to music...when we went we saw the doctors of funk and man they laid the house down! This venue was great, there is a unique outdoor patio and plenty of room on the dance floor!
Live music and drinks!!! Do you need anything else? The band Roccadile was playing and they were great. Really nice groove and good vocals
Good find with reasonably priced drinks, live music, and a cute patio in the back w/ an extra bar. We loved Jade, the bartender. She is very nice and knowledgeable on good drinks!
Recently renovated, its clean, has craft cocktails, a great beer selection and some excellent local bands. You can also order food here. Be sure to tip the band because thats how they make their income.
What an awesome place. A converted space that is now used to inform and educate the Community on local, state, and national issues. Knowledgeable and informed radio hosts make the whole experience seem effortless. They guided us through the interview and made us comfortable and at ease from start to finish. If you need to discuss current, relevant issues this is the place and the space.
No cover, live music all day. Jeff Chaz is a great bluesman! Been coming here for years even when it was the Matador with its horseshoe shaped bar!! Nice patio now out back.
This place was incredible!I was there. It was st.pattys day. A man named moris, or maybe melvin,- or whatever, approached me while i was outside. The man couldnt speak,- literally; he had this paper that he wrote on... thats how i learned his name. And then he wrote,- im famous.I didnt believe it.So I was like,- do you know harry? And he wrote,- artistSo he definitly knew harry. And then he handed me his sheet of paper and i realized that he was writing on the back of an eviction notice. Morti needed, like, 250$ otherwise he was gonna get evicted..... real quick, i was like,- Yall this mans famous and getting evicted! Can anyobe pay his rent?!And then i got kicked out. But this whole group of folks followed me and cash appd the dude his rent money.Dude got his rent paid!!!And folks were like,- do you know who this is?!And then this lady walked up to me and was like,- seriously, do you know who this is??!?!I still dont really know, for sure. But what i do know is that i was there, mardy got his rent paid and, apparently, he was famous and everybody loved it.Great time. Bring friends. -1star for getting kicked out or whatever.
Out of everywhere we wandered around Frenchmen, this was by FAR our favorite. Hands down. The atmosphere was amazing, the performers were incredible, and it was exactly the New Orleans jazz club vibe wed been looking for!
Our bartender Latoya was great, she seemed calm and happy to interact. Very chill and mixed a great Muddy Waters and Sazerac. The Kim Turk Band was great! Very entertaining, talented, with great stage presence!
Wonderful club with generous drinks, good food, and last, but not certainly not least, FANTASTIC live music acts. Even if you dont like bars or to drink much, seriously, come here for the music. You will not be disappointed.
Fun, low-key club at the edge of the quarter, just off Frenchmen. Cheap drinks. Fun bands. No cover. The crowd varies wildly, probably due to its central location, everyone wanders in from college co-eds to grandparents. Everyone has fun.
My favorite live music in this area of New Orleans. Consistently great performers. Good cocktails, friendly people, and a decent sized dance floor in front of the stage.
If I could rate the band it would be a 5 out of 5. I forget who it was that night but the music slapped. There are two areas, the front has live music. The back patio area has a second bar and a very chill vibe, with extremely fine art.
I was visiting NOLA & walked by this place. I like blues & jazz music so I stopped as there was a live band, it was great. Wasnt super crowded which I think is nice both Friday & Saturday I was there (went twice), close to other places so you can hop. No cover.
I gathered all my friends there. Very nice please. The bartenders were friendly, the drinks were so great, and the view was breathtaking on the balcony. Will definitely visit again.
That place was so fun, BUT charging for regular size cocktail in a plastic 17$ ?!!!That’s ridiculous!!!We visited many jazz bars in there, everywhere was nice and cocktails price were 6-10$.Well we better spend time in bars next door.
We had a great time here! The bands were great and there was plenty of room to dance. Everyone in the bar was singing along and having a good time.
I was enjoying the jazz band until the strong smell of puke crept up behind me. I turned to see an older man collapsed on the floor in a pool of... well you get the picture.Obviously the place cleared out pretty quick. Id have given this place 4 or 5 stars if any member of the staff would have attempted to handle this situation. Id say for at least 5 minutes he just floundered there without any staff stepping in. I left before the situation was resolved so not sure how it eventually ended, but if a scene like that could go on for that long Id hate to see what else could go down.
Incredible music on a Sunday night. We sat and enjoyed the live band and drinks
Pulled in off the street by the energy of Sierra Green & the Soul Machine. Found good beer selection (not many but solid choices), attentive bartender who ramped up her game with professional ease as the crowd grew from sparse to standing room only. Stayed until the band stopped; why move on when youve found just what you didnt know you were looking for?
Great atmosphere with a relaxed crowd and friendly bar staff. Came in the early evening was not overcrowded but started to get busy quickly, would recommend coming early if you would like a table! Great music on the evening we came as well.
Amazing music. Friendly people
Fell across this place whilst walking to Frenchmen Street from the Riverfront streetcar - wow how lucky was I ? On my first visit to New Orleans - the magic being made by Lil Red & her band was exactly why Im here on holiday ! Great venue.
Went to NOLA for my birthday in 2014. We had some time to kill and passed by this corner gem on the way. Stopped in for a during and stayed for four of them! The band was amazing I even bought there cd! Beers were cold bartender was friendly. The only bar left with a old fashion cigarette matching that still works! Going back to NOLA in October for my 30th birthday. This will definitely be on my top list of places to revisit!
Cool spot with good entertainment, but the bartender was terrible. Would have stayed longer, but I was never offered another drink after sitting at the bar with an empty cup for 20 minutes. Moved on to Maison & dropped about $100 in there.
Fair price and great music! It was a great way to end a night with a solid 7 piece band playing a wide variety of covers and a bit of improv. Service was fast and friendly!
If you need to get away from Bourbon Street then this is a great alternative. Great music and service. They have a nice courtyard as well which I was happy to find out was cigar friendly. If you visit New Orleans then you should make time for BMC.
Place seems to have music and vibe suitable for all age groups. We, a couple on both sides of 60, returned there twice. Dixiland of the 30th yesterday sounded authentic. It is the bar just before you turn to Frenchman street so crowds seem to pass by. Better for us.
This is nice very friendly place that has some of the best live jazz music around. Thoroughly enjoyed it there.
Great music and friendly staff. It was recommended to me from a server at another local restaurant which is always a good sign. Could have used more seating. was pretty sparse in there during the day.
My favorite spot in NOLA. I stop multiple times every time Im there. Relaxing with the BEST live music!
Loved this AWESOME place.. band was awesome! Drinks AWESOME, crowd great.. theres also a cute courtyard attached in the back
My husband and I were in New Orleans on vacation and had gone to Frenchmans Street to visit the music clubs there. We were getting ready to head back to our hotel when we passed the BMC. We went in and the music was fabulous. The band Deep Soul(?) was playing and if we had stopped there first, its the only club we would have gone to. I wasnt ready to leave when we did but you have to call it a night sometime. If I make it back down there, it will definitely be at the top of my list of places to visit.
Awesome music and drinks. Dont miss out on this great music venue. 5 star
Great spot for music any night of the week. The back patio is a nice place to chill when you need a break or just want relax and converse with your friends.
One of my top 2 favorite Music Clubs in NOLA!! Always a great show, and a fully stocked bar. What else can you ask for??
The drinks were ok, but the audio levels were way off; we could barely hear the singer
Great music & atmosphere on each night (3) we visited
Awesome Jazz and Blues band the night I was there! Inexpensive beverages. I highly recommend it if you like great live music from local artists!
Every time I passed this bar the band was fantastic. We stopped and danced one evening, but the atmosphere lingered for my whole trip!
Great BLUES music, great service. The band, Temped, entertained. Each band member was superb. Good drinks, we stumbled upon this place and LOVED IT💟✅
Great live music that makes the experience fun filled. Interaction with band and a friendly atmosphere! Definitely recommended
3 stars because the music was good. Otherwise its a pretty grungy place with very little beer selection. Decent sized stage and if they have a good act might be worth sticking around for a bit.
Great live music! I give all shouts to Shawn Williams and her band. Very good vocals and easy on the eyes!
I enjoy going to BMC for the music, but their current set up is not good for crowds. There are very few places to sit, which is not abnormal for the area. But if you stand at this location, you are blocking the view of the people at the bar and tables and they are not happy about it.
BMC usually has great music for free. The newest set up with the bar and stage switching places seems to work better than the old one. Bathrooms are decent for the French Quarter/Frenchmen, and theres a chill courtyard in the back for resting.
Loved it, it was what I was looking for as far as entertainment in new orleans! Bourbon st is for the youngsters, I loved frenchman st and all the bars there ESPECIALLY BMC! Thank you for the memories...
I had a great time at BMC and absolutely loved Joy Orleans. What a voice!! She really made the whole experience fun and exciting. Highly recommend you catch Joy Friday nights.
Stayed in NOLA for a week, floated around to a bunch of jazz and blues bars but BMC hits the sweet spot on so many levels - we always ended up back here most nights. I wish I could take this place home with me.
Great live music. Friendly staff. Strong signature drinks. Great beers on tap and a large selection of bottled beer. Cute bartenders.
Great atmosphere, well ventilated on the evening we were there, it was hella hot outside but nice and breezy even though it was packed.
Nice little bar with live bands playing. Kind of flies under the radar because of Frenchmen street a corner away but its a good one to go to if you dont want the craziness of the latter.
I visit New Orleans all the time but tonight the bartender who served us had the ugliest attitude. I always enjoy the music and I am a gooooooood tipper let’s just say she didn’t get a good tip....
Little Red and the Big Bad had a wonderful set while we were there. Good drinks, and good music made for a great night.
I had a wonderful time watching live music here. Excellent staff. Great drinks.
OUTSTANDING MUSIC. Daper Dandies is wonderful. Atmosphere is great, music great, I would recommend this place to anyone wanting old school New Orleans. No Cover charge.
Great place for fun diverse music every band I ever heard were supersonic great the drinks 10dollars high for New Orleanss people because we like r drinks cheap and DJ hot but for non locals not bad at all I love this place always stop here frist
Excellent music, cool setup. Perfect place for the gateway to Frenchman St. when walking from the French Quarter.
Great jazz spot in New Orleans. The drinks are big and the vibe is perfect. Seating is limited but its a great place to pop in have a drink and keep on going.
OMG..I had a great time there, I specifically enjoyed Big Poppa Les and the Creole Cooking Band, they were really good!!!
Great live music every night and one of the few places in the quarter where you can get a drink thats not too watered down.
They have awesome band playing there . Place is full of energy. I will surely recommend this club. Go there, feel the beat and dance away the night.
Great music and well poured beverages. Highly recommend!
Nawlins Johnny was a GREAT BAND, New Orleans Rhythm and Blues, Funk, Soul, SOUTHERN ROCK, Air Conditioning, unwatered down Drinks,,, Dont miss this Great LIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCE,,,
Live music was amazing. No cover charge Drinks were super sweet but when I asked the bartender to make it less sweet she did
Stopped in and listened to great band. Cute little bar!
This is the place for live music around Frenchman. Great bands. No so jam packed. Prices favorable for tourists.
As a Co-Host of Expanding The Rainbow on 102.3 WHIV-LP FM here in NOLA (Thurs. 8-9am) I have to say I LOVE this Station and what it stands for. We Are New Orleans, not only the Future but the Here and Now. It offers a wide array of options for all, be it Music or Talk. Their is something for just about everyone 24/7. This Non-Profit Station is a fantastic place to stay informed for all topics dedicated to Human Rights and Social Justice!
We found ourselves here every night during our trip to New Orleans. Music starts at 5pm. Very good. Highly recommend visiting this place...
A nice, bluesy changeup from the more traditional jazz venues around the corner on Frenchmen Street. Crazy Eddie and Pete Carroll would probably stop in, lured by the Sound Of Music (as opposed to CO2, which draws mosquitos (or💰, in the case of wealth-addicts.))
Always has excellent live music! Great service from the awesome bartenders and a cool outdoor balcony and garden area
They care about what bands they put on stage. Great music everytime! Drinks are decently priced for people will pay in the quarter.
It was fun and a good experience good conversation the co-host in the house were beautiful black women that had awesome southern housepitality and made our artists feel wonderful and very comfortable
Went there to hear a band that i follow which made it a good time. Not much seating but it was ok because we danced all night. This place is nothing fancy but its all good.
Band was amazing and drinks were strong. Best way to kick off a NOLA weekend. SN: went there on a Saturday night.
My favorite place for live music in NOLA. I really enjoy the bands they book. Always a fun upbeat vibe.
So cool, we were lucky to catch the same amazing band we saw in the Drinkery earlier the same evening. Loved our time here
The band was decent, but the drinks were awful. They do this gross thing of combining different flavored liquors in the same drink.
I really enjoyed this place. The band was incredible, great location and u can sit upstairs on the balcony when open.
Spent 2 nights there this week, great bands on both nights, good value drinks and friendly bar staff, would highly recommend.
Start here before going to Frenchman street. Wonderful music and people. They have the best ac ac system in the area. Come in and cool off with great music.
I wish there were more seats, but great atmosphere. The bands were so good and the staff so nice!!! Great music!!
The band Single Malt Please was GREAT! Drinks were pretty good and reasonably priced.
Cool place to hang out. Hunter, the bouncer, was really helpful when we were entering and leaving the bar. Overall, great place with quality staff, drinks, and music
Loved the band and it was laid back atmosphere but hype if you want. Favorite place to go after I finish my shift
Excellent music Lil Red &Big Bad, free! Great atmosphere and drinks! Best stop we made
I know and love that I will always find good live music and unpretentious drinks here.No seating reservations available.
Had an awesome band playing but the place was pretty empty. Bartender was good at her job. Decent drinks and prices.
OMG. This place is AMAZING! Phenomenal bartenders, great drinks, and fantastic music. If youre in NOLA be sure to check it out.
This is one of the best bars in the city. Open atmosphere and live bands. We listened to The Lifesavers at French Quarter Fest.
Great live music venue. Great drinks. We enjoyed it very much.
