We’ve been here a few times and the place is clean and masseuses are consistent. Only thing is they make you feel bad if you leave tip that is less than 20% - we left an 18% tip and the staff was quick to comment and then speak amongst themselves about their disagreeing with it. If you are expecting patrons to leave 20%, probably best to just note that ahead of time, in your services list, on the website or in the space to set expectations instead of making patrons feel bad about an 18% tip.

My partner brought me here for a prenatal massage and mother’s day gift. My massage felt like a child was giving me a massage as it was just gentle rubbing for probably the first 45 minutes with an excess amount of oil.The massage started getting some what better but i hardly felt any medium, firm massage. My partner definitely gives better massages)The girl than asked if i wanted her to focus on other areas and i requested my feet and hands.I feel like she completely ignored my requests because she only gave me a stone massage on my feet and didn’t pay any attention to my hands. Not to mention that i am in my third trimester and she asked for me to lay on my back which i have heard numerous amount of times that pregnant woman should not lay on their back.What bothered me the most was how the lady in the front desk did not smile or asked how my experience went after coming out to the lobby and demanded a tip from my partner when he came in the lobby to pick me up.

Been coming here for a year now. They been very accommodating even on last minute calls. Lil gem for a quick massage, the prices are very reasonable. Massages are great- you gotta be specific to them what part you’d like to get massage or give attention. Otherwise they will to give you standard full body massage. Plenty of street parking.

In summary: for many this is a good deal. But Be careful if you have an injury or surgery. Masseuse may not listen to your requests for less pressure.This review is really a blend of 4 star and 1 star. For me, 4 stars because I don’t have any major injuries and don’t mind an intense massage. The massages here are not as professional and targeted as at a place that costs a lot more. But I love the specials and the ability to come over and relax on short notice. I’d suggest directing your masseuse to the spots you want as you’re getting the massage as they aren’t as trained to home in on knots as a higher end establishment. But again, my experiences have primarily been relaxing and at least enjoyable, albeit painful at times.1 star for my girlfriend, who had a bad experience and who I want to encourage the management to talk to the staff and ask them to be more attentive. She had a spine surgery and marked the middle of her back as a no go area. The masseur did avoid this spot, but repeatedly used too much pressure elsewhere on her back despite her repeatedly asking for less pressure (she had put “medium”). From looking over reviews, I see this is not an isolated experience. If someone asks for less pressure, please LOWER THE PRESSURE and *do not increase again* without them asking for more. She now has back pain the next day and what I hoped would be a relaxing experience turned into a nightmare.Hopefully, nothing with the surgery was damaged. While I thought we might get massages here and she might not have the most heavenly experience, I at least hoped it would be relaxing and not painful and borderline traumatizing. I’m not expecting a 5 star spa experience for the price. For many people, this place is a hidden gem and a good experience. But please, just listen to people and try to be sensitive to them to avoid injuring clients.

Nice clean environment! I they had both male and female available for massage , I choose male. The only problem is I never received the full body massage . The male therapist had no idea what he was doing . Just rub my back for 35 of the 90 mins until I requested him to show attention to rest of my body . Which still didn’t do any good because all he did was rub me down . Even when I ask him to massage & not rub .I don’t recommend this place

The location is easy to find with ample free street parking. The spa is very clean. I love the minimalist decor, nothing too stimulating, which is calming. The rooms are dimly lit, which I appreciate. The room was a bit cold, so they did have a space heater, which oddly was turned off halfway through my massage. The massage bed was also heated, but took a while to warm up. So it was a bit chilly for a massage. Otherwise the ambiance and music was peaceful. Massage was very nice, at a reasonable price. The staff was lovely. Removed one star because experience is inconsistent. Sometimes you get a private room, sometimes youre in the community room where the staff talks to each other and it is less relaxing if people are having conversations, obviously.

Oh my gosh the massage is insane. I got chills - goosebumps. I went to another dimension. The prices are better than what’s listed on the website. I feel amazing and ready to sleep. Can’t wait to go back.

Ive been going here for years. Lately you get a therapists hour, so you pay for an hour and get about 50 minutes. Ive had this happen multiple times. They seem to start the hour the second you walk in the door.

The massage was great just at the end they had the nerve to pressure me to leave a big tip and that just killed all the massage experience...Tips are optional and not a obligation they need to know that..If you cant just ignore them with the tips if they are not happy with it just walk away from them lol 😆 😂 or just take you money back.By the way we were 3 clients and paid ($165) Total tips $35 for the 3 therapist it may not be a lot of money but I mean come on not everyone make the same income.

Perfectly lovely 1 hour full body massage. It cost $65. I tipped $10 and was pressured to tip more before leaving. I left an additional $5 for total of $15. Left me with an unpleasant feeling after an otherwise fine experience. They shouldn’t pressure for tips- I think it’s rude.

This place is a Godsend! The staff here are so friendly and professional. The prices are also unbelievably amazing!My partner and I came here for his birthday in November for the 90 minute Reflexology& Deep Tissue Massage. We were in heaven! Their hands were so firm and sure. Started off with a scalp, neck and face massage to relax which is always a win for me.We have fallen in love with this place and have since come back for a Christmas present. We are trying to make this a monthly bill because it is soo worth it!Thank you all so much for such wonderful service!

Worst massage ever. My therapist used full force with her elbows on my spine several times. She also refused to go lighter even when I asked her nicely. Ive been here before and it was ok but Im now seeing a chiropractor for the damage from this one massage. And at the end they had the nerve to pressure me to leave a big enough tip. Stay far away from this place!!

I love Piedmont Family Spa. This spa has come through for me time and time again when I need a massage on short notice. The prices are more than fair and all the massage therapists are skilled and each has their own technique. I especially recommend any of the female staff. I’ve never had a bad experience with a male but the women are incredible! I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

On a week night called and ask to see if they can take me for a 1 hr foot massage. They didn’t hesitate and told me to come in.The 1 hr foot massage consist of 15 minutes of actual foot massage and the rest of the 45 minutes were wasted on my shoulder, back and arms.I am not the type to complain at the very moment because it would add more tension between the masseuse and myself.I gave it a try and wouldn’t be coming back.

When I called to book our appointment the lady was very hesitant to give me a direct price. They told me to show up after seven I showed up at 7:20 and they told me I was late. She did to get my massage I paid in the vans for an hour massage. The lady that came in had no idea about the body and how it works it was the worst massage I’ve ever had. I got up and went to leave 15 minutes in the massage, He said sorry let me bring someone else and the other person they brought had absolutely no idea all she did was tease me and think that I wanted something more than an actual massage. I’ve been here in the past and had a decent to good massage and now they have fell off please do not waste your money time or effort you will be disappointed.

They are good but very demanding on tipping. I had a chair cloth on massage and I gave 17% tip and the masause said that it supposed to be 20%. He demanded for more tip.

I love that one can get a mini neck and back massage with the foot massage. Clean and always good service.

5 star all the way! I went in with some muscle pain in my back from lifting my heavy dog into my car and when I walked out, it was gone! The massage was amazing. I asked for firm and got it. Waylan (sic) felt where my back was troubled and put in the time and effort to help me out. I also had some foot pain (Ive been clocking a lot of miles) and that is also entirely gone. The place was quiet, relaxing, and I got an amazing treatment for beyond reasonable pricing. I cannot say enough for the Family Spa. Thank you!

Great massage therapists and consistently good massages!

I went for a 90 min massage today. The price on line says 90 cash. I Paid $100 total and the lady at the front begin to grumble I ask was anything wrong and her and Katie stated $10 was not enough tip they expect at least 20%. I stated I paid the price listed and if they expect more maybe they should change there prices. I have given an $20 tip before at this establishment as well as $10. I will no patronage this business any longer.

It was just ok. Nothing to rave about. I think they were short staffed because I was told to come at a specific time, got there and still had to wait about 10 mins. I just got back in town from traveling on a flight and was tired and wanted to relax. I got a foot massage which was mediocre to say the least. The guy seemed to be rushing, and at the end he tapped me and said done. By the time i took the towel off my face, he was already across the room to start the next persons massage. This felt a bit.. odd to say the least. Overall, its not horrible, but nothing to rave about. The place is clean though.

My mother went and said the mandarin speaking woman was very rude at the end, demanding extra tip after she already tipped $15. Ended up guilting her out of $5 more. She should’ve taken the whole tip back. She will not be returning.

My wife and I went there today and had wonderful massages. They accommodated us when we arrived early and both masseuses knew what they were doing. The spa is clean and the people there are warm and friendly. We look forward to returning hen we’re next in Berkeley.

It was easy to get an appointment for two people. The price is great and the place is clean and nicely decorated. In regards to the massage:I felt like it was closer to a sports massage. The guy come in and I felt like a slab of meat he was determined to tenderize. When he came across muscle knots, he went in full elbow and knees. I remember thinking, thank goodness I didnt request hard pressure. This was medium level! Also, I appreciated that he didnt go easy on me because Im a woman (maybe he did?).Flip, face up, he turned into baker, kneading a big ball of dough (thats me 😁) . I have sometimes seen bakers slap dough, I never understood why. I didnt understand why he slapped my legs but once he did, I felt like a racehorse ready to run! 🏇

Everything was great except my masseuse’s finger nails were too long (for a masseuse). It hurt during the massage as I got a deep tissue massage on my hamstring. I now have pinch marks all up and down my leg. I tried to give the feedback but not sure the team understood.I hope they can encourage everyone to get fingernails clipped. I had a very nice man, but not sure his name sorry.

Clean new facility. Excellent Grand Opening price. Friendly staff. Best of all, excellent skills and massage provided by Linda. Absolutely best massage since my stay in Korea over 10 years ago. I have tried so-called upscale facilities that costs nearly triple times more in East Bay area yet I have received much much better massage here than any other places. Street parking should not be a problem within very short walking distance. Ill definitely be going here on more frequently for my well-being.

This is my new favorite spot. Best massage I have had in years. Ive been back 4 times in 2 months. The foot massage includes a full body massage in a plush recliner (clothes on). They use hot stones on your feet, which is heaven. Perfect pressure. Youll feel like a million bucks afterwards. Clean, friendly, and an hour of heaven for 30 bucks. Honestly, why wouldnt you go? Absolutely LOVE this place!

Love this place,it lost 2 stars I feel pressured to give a tip(I always do)sometimes they look at each other as if its not enough and that makes me feel uncomfortable. Also they asked me was it ok for a male to give me a full body massage I replied yes I guess they forgot to ask him was he comfortable to do a lady needless to say it was not up to part I do feel he was uncomfortable.once I told the lady I was dissatisfied she said she do not understand she speak very little English lol oh wow,Im she understand dissatisfied.

Warning! Confirm your price before your massage. I was up charged 50% for not paying in cash.Disappointing. Booked a 2 hour foot massage listed at 60 for Two hr on the website. When massage was over I was told the special was cash price. Credit cards pay full price of $90. 50% up charge after service is performed is outrageous.

This is my first visit to Piedmont Family Spa for a massage. It is the BEST massage I have ever had! After suffering from painful back issues for a year, going to pain management doctors and having procedures, I am amazed at the instant relief I felt after Massage. Its intense- prepare yourself but you will not be disappointed!

Simple, clean and great price. Worth noting that Piedmont Family uses acupressure massage, so it can feel like they are massaging bone when in fact they are releasing pressure points. More painful (and for some, probably less relaxing) than Swedish deep tissue.

Me and my husband went here for our honeymoon looking for couples massages! They where available and so we jumped on it and we where very excited! We check in, they guide us to our rooms and we loved the the lighting, the music and the set up. During my experiance I felt very overwhelmed with the amount of pressure that was used during my massage. I did ask to use a lighter pressure, but then my masseuse went back to using the same amount of pressure used previously. I was in alot of pain during my massage & the areas I circled that needed to be worked on more than the rest of my body was not worked on enough, I felt that my masseuse spent more time on the areas that I didnt need worked on more than the areas that I truly needed to be worked on. The massage was also fast pace meaning that the motions where not slow and attentive, they where fast and just not enjoyable. The masseuse also hit my legs and back (which is a technique used in massage) but it did bring me pain. I remember the masseuse wiggling my arms all over the place, and I didnt understand the purpose of it. After the massage me and mg husband both felt the same way! And had the same bad experience in our massage. Hours later my back hurts very bad. It hurts to lay on my back. It hurts to lean up against a chair I sit on and I do feel very sore. I understand that some people do like and need intense pressure, but if you are a person looking to relax, unwind, and feel like a person is actually massaging you because it is something they love to do and not something they have to do, I do not recommend this place.

This is a nice place for what it is. This is not therapeutic massage so if you need something therapeutic, find another place. I came in for the foot massage and it encompasses more than that! Its a whole body clothed rubdown with extra emphasis on the feet and calves. It was lovely and very inexpensive so I would be happy to return for another.

One 30 minute session, and I can sleep like a tired out college student. I felt soreness all over probably one or two days after my massage session, but all the knots was gone. My lower back and shoulder felt .... Not tense. I dont know how to explain this. Its great.

Got another amazing 2 hours massage from them yesterday, they did my face, my hands, my back, my feet and legs. I feel like a whole new person. I have been having trouble sleeping and twisted my shoulder but last night I slept so good. I love this place.

Saw advertisement on IG. Got 1 hour deep tissue massage with hot stones. It was very good and facilities nice, clean and pleasant. Had to wait 15 minutes after scheduled time but got MT full hour.

It has been over 15 years since Ive had a massage. Since my medical condition has gotten more pronounced I never realized how much my body needed this kind of massage.

Hidden gem. I feel so grateful to have found the Piedmont Family Spa (PFA) today...had been feeling tight and stressed all week and called PFA and they were able to fit me in the same day. I got a 2 hr massage/foot combo with Sufe (sp?) and came out feeling like putty, happy and relaxed. Enjoy! :)

Fresh clean room clean sheets and excellent massage from Tina. I called late Friday and they accommodated me within a half hour for a one hour massage with hot stones and hot towels for a very reasonable rate, I would highly recommend this Spa.

Perfect weekend massage at reasonable price. I try and factor in a slightly higher tip since the base price is really low.
