Pushy and disrespectful sales pitch for their membership.I gifted my wife a massage. She reports the message was “okay”, she’s had better for much cheaper. She was pressured to sign up for the membership even after informing the staff they she wanted to talk to me first. The staff disrespected me and my wife by insisting the membership could be canceled at anytime. My wife, buckled and signed up.Upon learning about the situation, I called the same day to cancel, had to leave a voicemail.Fast forward a month and we receive a membership charge. We will not be using massage envy again.
I went to the Maple Grove location for the first time yesterday. They were very welcoming. The front desk sat down with me and talked over what my goals were for the appointment which was very well communicated to my therapist. The therapist I saw, Divia, was AMAZING! She took her time on areas that I was focused on but made sure that I still had a full body massage. I am very hopeful that this will continue to be a good experience as they are under new ownership. First impressions matter and this was a good one!
I had a massage yesterday for my birthday and since I’ve never been here, I got the introductory rate of $80 for a 60 minute session. I wanted an appointment in the morning so I booked with Poly As she was available. The front desk lady was extremely sweet And so was my masseuse But I did not enjoy the actual service. It felt rushed, and I’ve had massages before, and was just unfamiliar with the technique that she was using. I did want her to do a scalp massage but what she did was actually pull my hair and it hurt. Afterwards, she did not offer me any water, she just open the door for me to be let out into the lobby. She did not discuss anything with me about when I should return or ask how I enjoyed the service. Overall, it was a rough start to my birthday But nonetheless wanted to leave my review.
I paid for 60 min full body massage firm there was no firm massage only massaged my back and shoulders which is what I wanted. Focus on but wanted the full body massage and also cut my massage early by 15 mins jay was the one who did it, It was definitely a bad first experience and will not recommend anyone going here
So I had an oxygen facial with Amari And from the way, the facial was done the vibe the conversation I have got a membership for 12 months so they will be seeing me every three weeks. She gave me a lot of information on what I should and shouldn’t do. So I will be coming back to see her. She was a great student and knows a lot.
Highly recommend Amy. She could tell I was anxious about what to expect and she helped put me at ease. It was a very relaxing massage, she did great!!
Do not sign up for a membership at Massage Envy in Maple Grove. I can never get an appointment when I really need one. I canceled my membership today and was told I have only 60 days to make up for my monthly messages. I have 5 built up. I said, well, lets get started booking them. I was told the next opening was in mid November. A month from now! There will be no way to catch up. Its like throwing 500 dollars away. Its very frustrating 😑
I had a fantastic experience at the Maple Grove location with Chad. He was excellent and the staff members were very friendly and professional.
Beware. Contract - you sign up - they arent staffed appropriately to fulfill your monthly sessions obligation. They have plenty available during the day - but at night...not great if you workTwo cancellations - same day. However, if a member cancels - so sad too bad.Manager - does not return calls/communications. Maybe in over her head. I had to escalate very high to get any attention.I tried to cancel 2x - but, funny, the cancellation didnt happen. The only saving grace was the therapists. However, that opinion changed last week. Last week, I went in for a rescheduled massage. Not my regular - but I just want to be done with Massage Envy and get my commitment done. The therapist hurt me really bad. I had to ask to lighten up 2x. I ended up with bruises on my my upper back. He only massaged my back - 90 minutes. No shoulders, arms, head... I get that he was new. But, this was tough. There are far better places that you can go that are dependable, honest and follow through on commitments.
I’m usually one who likes to leave reviews when I have had a positive experience, however, this experience was so terrible I figured I had to do my due diligence. I cancelled my membership here back in January 2022 due to inability to schedule and the fact that I had moved, or so I thought. Apparently, they lost my cancellation paperwork, and I noticed my card was still being charged. I attempted to call the Maple Grove location many times, with no answer, left a message, no callback. Attempted to contact the Plymouth location since no one answers the phone over at Maple Grove, which they also confirmed, and indicted they could not help me since they are franchised. I FINALLY reached a nice lady named Josie at the Maple Grove who told me her manager would be in the next day and would give me a call back. Well, that day came and went, and no one called. I followed up the next Monday and someone actually answered the phone, a woman named Sara, who refused to tell me if she was a manager or not. Instead of apologizing for not processing my cancellation properly and discussing the payments that had been taken out of my account and the credits remaining which I was utilizing, she continued to argue with me the entire time back and forth getting absolutely nowhere. Not only did she not apologize for their lack of processing my cancellation properly, but then wanted to charge me for services after the fact and accused me of a “witch hunt” when I asked for her name since I clearly needed to take better records of my interactions with this place. Completely unprofessional and I would personally look elsewhere for massage services.
The whole point of a massage is to relax you and this location is nothing but wasted time and stress. Sarah (manager) is absolutely useless in handing any customer concerns. When I first moved here, I booked a bunch of appointments. This location never answers the phone, so it was a struggle to get someone on the phone. I came in for my first session and was told the massage therapist doesnt use the Hyperice massager, so they canceled my appointments and didnt even let me know. I found out later that person refused to use the Hyperice massager way before my appointments were scheduled. Then I had Martha who was a wonderful, top notch massage therapist but she moved back to CA. One of my appointments with Martha was canceled but I came in because no one bothered to let me know. Sarahs response to customer complaints is an oh well approach and blaming staffing issues. Staff doesnt want to work evenings or weekends. No apology, no compensation. I told the Woodbury location manager who was at this location training staff and she was apologetic and gave me a free 30-min session for my troubles. Why would another manager be training Sarahs staff anyway? Then I was put with Chad. One night Sarah said, were trying to find another therapist for you because Chad doesnt feel like hes a good fit for you. Chad never mentioned this to me. The reason is Chad didnt want to work evenings. They have evening/weekend appointments but discourage staff to book them. Then when there are no appointments, everyone gets to go home. I never said anything until after this event occurred, but for the record Chad acted very fake towards me and just gave average massages. He told me I have a lightning bolt of tension and that a prossage/Biofreeze application was needed. He could have easily added that 10-minute application as I was his last client for the evening. I guess they dont care about the customers or making extra money. Chad may have been there for many years, but he is not skilled nor professional. I complained to corporate. Sarahs response was to cancel all of my appointments and attempt to cancel my membership. She said there are no therapists at the Maple Grove location for me. This location should just be shut down. The therapists run the show and do whatever they want. Sarah caters to the therapists and ignores the customers. It really makes the brand look bad. The owners own multiple successful locations in the south so this location I guess doesnt matter to them because the owners never bothered to call me.
Company policy is the worst. I have 90 minutes left there that the staff can not allow me to use because company policy will not allow me to use up the credits I have already paid for without an active credit card on file (for them to pull more money out). I am trying to use up me credits because after you cancel your membership, your credits expire in 30 days. I had a 90-minute massage scheduled today and I have 90 minutes of credit that they have already pulled from my acct. I walked in today for my 11AM appt and was told that because I did not reply to the text they sent and because I do not have an active CC on file, they canceled my appt. This to the worse Company Policy . Not good for the consumer. Buyer beware if you sign up for a program here. Easy to sign up. VERY Hard to get out without loosen money or spending more. Nice People but BAD company policy.
I have had nothing but great experiences at Massage Envy. Josie, the Assistant Clinic Manager was PHENOMENAL to work with. She walked through the paperwork process and has an amazing personality and is very professional and personable with clients. Josie made me feel incredibly welcomed and relaxed while she was explaining everything. My massage therapist, Bendu, was one of the relaxing and gentle people I have ever met. Bendu asked what stress areas I wanted to take care of during my massage, and she hit every. single. one. By the time my massage was over, I felt like I was walking on clouds. Bendu was absolutely fantastic and I will DEFINITELY be coming back to see her. Thank you Josie and Bendu!
My wife and I have been members over 9 years. In summary, Id look elsewhere. If you are wondering why we have been members so long if were unhappy, its because we were trying to use up our built up sessions. My wife finally used up her backlog of sessions and cancelled her membership last year and Ive been trying to use up the sessions Ive built up so I can cancel mine. Its hard to get in (I have 12 sessions built up) to the good therapists. My last two appointments were cancelled because the therapist wasnt available. Booking at any of the three closest locations for a therapist above average in deep tissue is at least a week out add a couple cancellations and you cant get ahead. Ive even reached out to management to ask if I could pause membership to use up my backlog. They arent flexible. Ive gifted sessions to others but you can only do one per month and theres an extra charge. Overall the therapists are decent or at least try hard, but because there isnt a baseline for massage style/pressure, etc. one therapists idea of deep tissue is anothers somewhat firm pressure. The therapist tells the front desk what their good at and there doesnt seem to be a check/balance to confirm it. Ive had at least 7 cases where I book a deep tissue and when the therapist asks what type of massage I want (deep tissue), theyve responded that they only do Swedish or light pressure. The therapist usually does a good job trying to do a good job, but even through Ive mentioned the disconnect, and that they have a system broken, the front desk staff (one claimed she was an assistant manager) state that its not their fault because thats what the form says. One older therapist shared that she can only physically do a Swedish massage and that she has tried to get the form fixed but that management wont listen/get the system fixed. She did a good job but I felt bad for her because I knew she was trying to use a firmer pressure than she could do. Clearly a management/system issue. Seems to be a lot of turnover and if you do find a good therapist, word must travel fast as they are hard to get into after just a few months. Ive had a few times where even though they called to confirm the session the day before, I showed up and they didnt have it on file. Another example is when I scheduled a reflexology session (foot massage)...the front desk said they had an excellent reflexology therapist that could do a full hour...when I got to the room, the therapist says that she can only do 15 minutes max because its such a hard massage and that the front desk shouldnt be scheduling her for these anyway. To use up sessions, I tried a stretching session for 60 minutes and 30 minutes in, she shared its the first time anyone has done 60 minutes and she doesnt really have any other stretches and wasnt sure why they book hour sessions for stretching. I did receive an email thanking me for my loyalty a few years ago, I think it was an upgrade to a aromatherapy or something like that...when I mentioned it at my next appointment they said I couldnt get the upgrade because I needed to print off the email for it to qualify... really?? a member thats been with you 9+ years, needs to print an email to get loyalty rewards?? When I shared ideas or concerns with the front desk, Ive offered that if management cares, they are welcome to give me a call do discuss...Ive never been contacted and yes..., Ive requested that management give me a call to discuss with them...Ive never heard from them...which is why Im doing a public post. - Adding to my post after I received an email from clinic0537. I was looking forward to a dialogue but it turned out to be a request to have me change my complaint to either Plymouth or Rogers and not the Maple Grove one. It speaks for itself to say that the email came from a generic clinic0537, wasnt personally signed (I have no idea who reached out to me)...and...if I had questions they cared enough to provide the general number.
Dont waste your time. Ive scheduled a massage there twice now. Both times I re-arranged my work schedule to make the appointment work and both times they canceled the massage at the very last minute. (Not covid related either time, just poor scheduling and staff)Save your time and go somewhere reliable. I highly recommend Just For Me spa in Stillwater, its a bit of a drive, but worth it compared to this joke. Its unfortunate because I get a massage every month and was trying to find somewhere closer than my regular Just For Me Spa, but Massage Envy made me a lifetime customer anywhere else but there.
Worst massage and experience I think I’ve ever had. I got there 10 min early and sat there for over 20 Mi minutes before someone had me start my paperwork. My massage was supposed to be 90 min and didn’t even last 75 minutes, and that’s with changing before and after. Massage was less than mediocre. There are a ton of places to go around maple grove, step up your game Massage Envy.
Overall a bad experience with a membership. The massages received over the past couple of years are decent. The sessions I’ve had with therapists that smoke are super unpleasant. The main complaint is with membership. My schedule, plus limited therapist availability (before Covid), has made it difficult to get regular messages so I’ve built up a stock pile of 9-11 paid, unused sessions over the past two years. However, there’s no way to catch up. If I freeze the membership, I cannot use the sessions. If I cancel, I lose all the sessions I’ve paid for. This cycle that I’ve found myself in makes it very difficult to cancel. At some point I’ll just have to cancel and eat the cost of the paid sessions. Their policies are not flexible and it makes it feel like I’m trapped. Very frustrating.Be cautious about joining. It would be best to simply pay as you go... if you can find an available appointment.
Therapists I have had regularly are wonderful.Due to the staff & managements unprofessional behavior, they will be losing my business. Recently they continued to tell me my payment was pending. That specific payment had cleared my bank almost 30 days prior. Then they proceeded to take not 1 payment but 2 payments out of my account last week. Committing bank fraud & not getting back to me with a solution, not returning calls & just terrible customer service will be the exact reason I cancel my contract.I called for the 2nd time today & finally the owner DEBBIE got on the phone. Nothing but excuse after excuse. I can see why the staff has ni communication skills. This place is a complete joke. IMassage Envys corporate office has 1.5 stars...consider that before you make the decision to ever go there.
I have read several bad reviews for this location and wanted to weigh in. I am not affiliated with this company, but have been a member for 8 months at the time of this review. First, becoming a member is very easy and they dont really explain everything it entails in detail. They are pretty tricky at getting you to sign onto being a member following a massage and make it sound like a wonderful experience that is so simple and easy and they used words like no obligation, and easily hold, freeze, or discontinue your membership whenever you want. This is very misleading. Once you become a member you are literally locked into a binding contract of monthly withdrawals for a year, and then you have to make a request in writing to cancel your membership only after your year is up.With that being said, I have had very positive experiences with actually receiving my massages. They are always on time for my appointments, the therapists are always very professional and they do a good job listening to what I have to say. While the process of becoming a member and understanding the contract is impossible and very misleading, they do offer good services that I am happy to have signed up for.I will be terminating my contract at the end of the year, however - if I can figure out how...
Edit to Add: do no be fooled by the “manager” response to every review, I’ve been talking to people and battling this for months. Today when I came to finally cancel as they told me I have to do in person at least 10 days before the next billing cycle the 1 person who can apparently help me of course isn’t here and I have to come back again or risk being charged again next month. Such a scamDO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP - the massages are average, I’ve had a couple above average massages but overall nothing to write home about. If you get behind on your membership and build up massages you either forfeit hundreds of dollars of unused services or never get out of your contract. It’s a robbery and their customer service is less than ideal. There’s no flexibility and they don’t care about circumstances or real life they just want their money! Beware!
During the pandemic I had the monthly dues taken out for 4 months before stopping in to freeze the account. I had 6 hours in the bank. I received a text today that unless I cancelled immediately I would be charged the higher rate If you cancel you lose your massages unless you sign back up within the year. I’m out 550 dollars and they didn’t offer any options. The franchise wouldn’t help correct this! Stay away from Massage Envy!!!
So I was having a hard time finding a gift for my wife’s birthday this year so I thought getting her a massage would be a perfect answer. It would of been a perfect gift but I decided to get her a massage and facial at Massage envy Maple Grove. What a mistake. My daughter and I went in to purchase her a 1hr massage backed up with a 1hr facial we set it up for the following Saturday due to them being backed up. So next Saturday morning I received a call stating that her appointment was for Sunday not for Saturday. There is no way I would of set a appointment being that we have had a family get together set for that Sunday. My daughter also remembers her saying Saturday. I just chalked it up as a miscommunication. Not a big deal but kinda disappointing. So we cancelled the appointment and set up up for a Sunday two weeks later. So the morning of the appointment I get a voicemail stating that the facial appointment had to be cancelled and they could only do the massage. So I called and talked to a manager named Sarah. She apologized and said that she would add a enhancement to her massage package. So my wife shows up about 1-2 hrs after I talked to Sarah for her massage and they did the massage but forgot about the enhancement they were supposed to add on. Kinda a really bad first experience going here. This was our first time going and will probably be the last. I just want to say thanks Massage Envy for completely making a mess of my wife’s birthday present.
I only rated four stars because I have only had one experience here as a non-member, but it was very enjoyable. I have never had a massage so I was a little unsure of what to expect. The staff was very friendly and the woman who worked with me, Fran, was easy to talk to and responsive to my needs. The facility was clean and calming. I would not hesitate to make another visit.
I was a member at this location for 5 years. Quit when the massage therapists went down hill year after year. Last week my husband purchased a massage for me. It was the worst massage I have ever had. I tried talking to the therapist as she was going but it didnt change. I nicely told the desk staff that it was not a good experience. They said the manager would call me (never got a call). My husband was so upset he paid $100 for the massage he called in and wanted an refund or another massage for me. They refused. Then he talked to the area manager - no help. I will never, ever spend 1 more dime here!!!!!
Ive been a member for around 10 years. Its become increasingly difficult to book appointments and management has gone down hill. My last appointment was cancelled without notice. I showed up and they said the manager canceled my appointment the week before. I asked to speak to a manager none were on site. I asked for a manager to call me and none did. Its time to cancel my membership and find a place that cares about its customers.
Very inconsistent! They have some really good massage therapists like Bridget and Chad, but they also have some bad ones. Receptionist are nice but there management is not very good. They also make it very difficult to cancel your membership. I had to go in person just to sign a document and I couldnt sign it and fax it either. Then when I cancelled they told me I would have 60 days to use pre-paids instead though they had the date less than a 30 days. When I called them to fix this they kept putting me on hold and then said they would call me back. I explained exactly what the manager told me and wrote down for me. When they called back they moved the date out to be exactly 30 days. Again I got put on hold a lot and then they finally got it correct. They need to get better organized.
My mothers was told she was able to transfer a hour massage she had left to me. When I called to set up an appointment. They were able to find my name but said nothing showed under it. I then asked if they could look up my moms account and they said nothing showed under hers. So where did her hour go. She called to inquire and got no where with it as well. Clearly, they had my information from her giving to them. Very frustrating. Will not use this company ever. Should have warned her about all the negative things Ive heard before she went there in the first place!
I have had a membership with massage envy for a few years! I have always loved it there and loved the staff. The staff and people are super amazing, the facility is always very clean, and they always care for my needs. The massages I received have always been awesome and they have always made sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. I cannot wait to continue to go to this place and receive amazing massages.
I received a gift card for my birthday and was told they were going to add it to my profile and I did not need that information any more. It was all handled. When I tried using it-the information previously given was incorrect. Not my problem I told them. When you have the massage envy name you are massage envy. The training issue here is not mine to fix. I have found that the people behind the desk need more training and frankly the owner should have the location secretly shopped. I have had no issues with the massages. It is not the employees fault that the training is not given. I too own a couple companies and have found that the policies are inconsistently being applied on more than one occasion. I would be frustrated working here as no clear direction is being given.
I called to make an appointment and Mya was very friendly and helpful. She suggested I see Tiffany for a more personalized massage. Glad I listened to her because Tiffany was great for what I needed. The place was very clean and relaxing and I would have signed up for the membership if I lived closer. I will definitely be back in at nonmember prices when I am in the area!
I dont understand all the negative reviews. Sounds like angry garbage people just mad at life in general over petty things. Ive been coming to this location now every 2 weeks for nearly a year and these ladies have always made every attempt to meet all my needs as best as they can. Have they been perfect every time? No. Have I? No. Is anyone perfect 100% of the time? No. We all fall short. They truly have a friendly staff that deserves praise for all their hard work. Thank you for all you do Massage Envy to help reduce my stress in this hectic world we live in. Its truly appreciated.JM
Ive been a member for years, originally from the Roseville location. I moved 2 years ago & now Maple Grove is closer. I had kid & wasnt able to fit a massage into my busy schedule, so I had a lot of prepaid appointments. I didnt want to cancel & be out all that money, so I worked out times with my husband so I could go. I started going 2 times a week. I liked the therapists, I tried to stay with the same 2. It became harder to book with them, even when booking for a whole month. The front desk people were always nice, even when they were alone, slammed, & being yelled at. My problem is with management, and how they run things. Seeing how horribly the front desk staff was treated for being short staffed, training new employees, customers waiting. There was no manager on duty to help customers with problems? I had always been patient and waited knowing that its not the front desk staffs fault. I wouldnt have written a review if I had not had this experience with management. the fact that Roseville and Blaines management got involved to try and help me out, feel better, after Maple Grove did nothing is nice. So what happened, I went in for my regular Tuesday massage to find I was not on their schedule. I had the print out of appointments from their computer that showed I have an appointment that day. I felt bad for the girl working because shes new and alone, so she didnt know how to help me or how to make this mistake on their part better. I was there an hour with the new girl trying to reschedule and to see what went wrong, if someone accidentally canceled it, while letting other people check in and out so they didnt have to wait behind me while trying to figure it out. The only solution was to reschedule and have management call me the next day. It took 2 days for management to call, just to tell me that there is no record in their computer system that shows I ever had an appointment on that day and time, so if it was never there it couldnt have been deleted or canceled by anyone, yet I have it on 2 different prints from their computer. They didnt seem to care that their mistake had caused me to waste time and gas, and upset me to the point that I was vomiting. I was told all they would do is reschedule me. They even told me that they had gotten the message about the problem to call me, but they were to busy to call me. So, I figured that I will just use up the last of my pre-pays, which I was getting different answers on how many I had left, and cancel my membership. I then call over to Roseville to ask about the cancellation process, where they were very helpful and even told me that I didnt have to go into their location to do it it, that I could just have Maple Grove fax them the papers after I filled them out. I told them that Maple Grove had said that I had to have Rosville mail me the papers than I could mail them back. Roseville then told me that they would call over to Maple Grove and tell them that I could do them at Maple Grove and they could than fax them to Roseville. Roseville has great customer service. I hadnt given them my name or number, they mustve gotten it from caller id, because not even ten minutes later the Rosville manager called me to see what she could do to help the situation, that this is not how they would like me to feel. She told me that maybe Blaine could be a better location for me, that they were connected to the same group as them(owner management?), and that she would call Blaines manager and have her call me to see what might work. Again around ten minutes later Blaines manager called me to see what she could do, I said that between traffic and family I didnt think I could get there on weekdays and for the times I could make it for on weekends was limited, so she said she would speak to a few therapists to see if they would be willing to come in or adjust things a little and call me back so I can have a good experience. From what I can see by the reviews, Maple Grove has the lowest score, and that it is based mostly on management.
I have been a member here for many years. They have always made me feel welcome and with the variety of massage therapists, Ive always received exactly what Ive been looking for during my sessions. The membership is amazing! It saves alot of money when used the way it is intended to be used! The negative reviews probably come from people who dont use their membership the way it was designed. Its a no brainer when it comes to regular massage! The front desk girls are great too! Keep up the good work Massage Envy!
Horrendous. Called many many times, multiple times a day to try and rebook the appointment THEY canceled on me an hour before my appointment time. Manager was incredibly rude and very unhelpful. Essentially called me a liar because her front desk staff couldn’t do their job and she didn’t know I called…. Ridiculous. Ended up calling Plymouth who got me in the NEXT day. Also contacted corporate and to elevate this ridiculous customer service. WILL not ever be back.
This place is a joke, calling to get a massage is impossible you are put on hold and are waiting forever, the front desk staff are kind of rude, the management run things poorly they have no sympathy. They cant hold staff for the life of them once you like your therapist you book your next massage and BAM the person you had left. Happened to me 4 times. If your interested in getting a massage go to a chiropractor or go to a different location other than Maple Grove and Coon Rapids. The BEST god darn therapist at MG is Kisha. If it wasnt for her I wouldnt have gone back. My bill comes out on the 18th of the month I was told by one of the front desk ladies if I canceled by the 8th of the month I will be ok. I canceled by the 8th and faxed it in they never called me for 3 days after so I finally called them and they explained that my monthly fee will come out on the 18th still even tho I still canceled. I wasnt happy so the lady I talked to said she would call me back 2 days go by and she still hasnt called me back and its the 15th today, after calling them back again since its in a 10 day grace period they still have to take the monthly fee out so thank you to the lady who screwed me. After this experience I have realized they arent on top of things here, I will never go to massage envy again I am beyond mad about this, they need to do a better job on educating their staff better on cancelations and information in general because they are losing customers like its their job. So disappointed...
The therapists are pretty good, but never seem to stick around for long. Each time Ive found a therapist I like, theyre gone the following month. The staff on the other hand (management included) is RUDE! Not at all interested in the needs of the client. The membership is just a way for them to get your money. They dont disclose all information and stop being interested in being professional and polite once youve signed up. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS LOCATION!
I’m definitely not one to complain but I don’t want someone to be as disappointed as I am. I communicated that I would like to focus on my upper back, which I’d say she did however she basically rubbed lotion on me. I ask two different times during the massage if she could add more pressure and work on breaking up the “knots” in my back. She did not change what she was doing at all. Such a waste of money. Btw her name was Tammy, maybe a different person would be better but I do not recommend Tammy if you are looking for an actual massage. She also was not friendly or welcoming at all.
The best massage ever, so I signed up for the membership. Relaxing, yet working out my knots, but not too hard. Been going for 2-3 years now.The first massage is $39, and yes they do push the membership. It is quite a bit of a pain to cancel the membership, yes it needs to be 30 days before your renew day of the month, but you can also put the membership on hold like at some gyms. When you do cancel you need to use any accumulated massages within 30 days. The benefits are that you have a massage every month (it forces me to take time for myself), and they can roll over to the next month and then you can get one 2 hour massage or two 1 hour massages, or it can even be split if you want to do a 90 minute. Also, any additional massages are at the lower membership rate.
By far the WORST massage I have ever experienced!I have been receiving regular massages for over fifteen years. Having recently moved to the area, I needed to find a new massage therapist and had recently won a gift certificate (through a local TV promo) for an hour massage at Massage Envy. Upon the first therapist, at another location, was unable to come in to keep appointments, I promptly called the Maple Grove location, explained the situation, and my need to get in ASAP. The young woman on the phone was quite helpful, empathetic, and when I explained my need for deep tissue therapy and although she stated there were no deep tissue specialists available, I was assured Val was able to meet my needs for tension release and tight knots. First off, the room was FREEZING! (When I shared this with the attendants at the front desk upon my departure I was told, Was the table warmer not on? Thank you for letting us know. We will take care of it right away so its fixed for the next person.) If there was a table warmer, I certainly wasnt one of the benefactors. Val was very sweet, kind, and quite light handed. When I asked for more pressure, what I received was a knobby elbow. If the desired outcome of this session was to knead me like dough, it was successful. Her main massage technique is to use the heels of her palms, not my cup of tea. As another reviewer had previously stated, upon completing one half of the massage, she then slapped from the bottom of my feet all the way up to the top of my shoulders, finishing with karate chops to the trapezoid area. If I would have thought it wouldnt have completely ruined her day, I would have asked her to step out so I could dress and leave. Then, to top it all off, upon presenting my official Massage Envy, have an hour on us gift card, I was told it didnt cover the tax. By this point I was ready to run out the door, so I paid the tax (even though in the state of MN there is no tax charged for services given for promotional services.)I would like to say, The reason I am sharing the details of my experience is so that someone doesnt pay full price for a service which is obviously an acceptable technique. I was VERY specific with my requests and in expressing my needs, yet this was the match up they encouraged as being a good fit.
I have been a member for several years and management has continued to disappoint me. Today I came in to an appointment which I booked three days short of a month ago and I was told my appointment didnt show up in the computer. The receptionist said that this wasnt the first time that this had happened and they have an order to fix the system, which they are waiting on. The receptionist was kind and honest. When the apparent manager came out she made an accusatory statement inferring I had made the mistake. I have owned numerous businesses and can assure you that this one is very poorly run. Not only do people take off work for a mid day massage they also look forward to the 90 min retreat so do yourself a favor and take your business down the road.
Despite the fact that the terms and conditions of the annual contract clearly state that they can release you from your contract for extenuating circumstances, being unemployed for six months is not considered an extenuating circumstance by management.Sure, they offered to let me suspend my account for a maximum of 6 months, but that would imply that I would want to use them ever again after this situation. Theyd rather risk a poor reputation and negative customer reviews than relenquish $180, or the remaining three months of my contract term.Lesson learned: never sign up for the annual contract at Massage Envy if you have any concerns about your employment/income situation. Massage Envy doesnt give a f**k.
Poor communication regarding prices. I would have some a longer massage had I known, but maybe it was good I didnt because my neck is so messed up after the massage I cant turn it. One of the worst massages Ive ever had. Very poor technique.
I wish I had read down on the Yelp reviews before buying my wife a 6 massage gift. They buried an auto-renewal with a 30 day cancellation clause into a contract. What possible need does anyone have for that. If I dont want another massage, how would I know that a month before I pay for it?In any case, they didnt tell me that and they didnt say anything to my wife about it either. While it may be in the contract, contractually correct is not the best kind of correct if you want happy, loyal customers. Contractual language is NOT what people expect when they buy a limited service. My wife has liked the massages well enough, so they managed to ruin a relationship with good customers because sticking to their deceptive business practices is more important than being honest with their customers.Note that they are NOT BBB accredited and have an F rating from BBB.Why go to a deceptive place when there are so many good places where you can truly relax and forget about consulting your lawyer before getting a simple massage?
Purchased a gift card from Massage Envy and my significant other had no interest in the service. Called back with in a couple of days to request refund options and was told there was none. (Use it or loose it). I might have expected such an answer from a mom and pop business (maybe) but not form a larger multi location business. Im guessing their management and employees have never received a gift they didnt really want and just needed to eat the cost. Really in this day and age of customer service - (less than 48 hrs) kinda makes ya think life is all about buyer beware - even if they look like a credible business. Im sure they treat regular customers better but as a 1st buyer there will never be a second time.
Called and booked a massage, asked for firm/deep due to pain and tension, employee ensures me that the message therapist could do that and take care of me... multiple times. Get in the room and on the table and massage therapist starts rubbing neck and shoulders gently...I was assuming she was just getting an idea of the obvious knots and strain in my shoulders. She asked how I was feeling and if I wanted anything different, so I ask for it to be firmer because of my tension causing pain....she informs me that what she was doing was as firm as she gets...It literally felt like my 10 year old was trying to give me a massage. NO pressure what so ever. Needless to say, I left still in pain. I emailed the office... no response.
Every time I come here I get a great therapist. I saw the same person for a long time and when she left, every time I came back I had a great experience! Now I have moved away the the M.E. by my house stinks! I have paid 4 visits to Coon Rapids Riverdale location and none of their therapists have come close! I miss going to Maple Grove! I have actually made the drive down there a few times with Chad and its so worth the drive to have a good massage.
Bought contract. Lived up to my end. Made and kept three appointments. They call at 10:00 to tell me 3:00 is canceled and they cant reschedule for today. I get that people get sick, but your a chain for petes sake. Call in back up. I took off work not knowing you called my home phone. Tried to cancel plan. You broke contract when I show up and you cant get me in. Nope my contract cant be changed. Ok Ill just be really passive aggressive for my next 10 appointments😂 Thats the Minnesotan in me. Have a great day.
It would have been 1 star but the manager saved the day and the review! I booked a 90 minute massage and was told that Lee was medium/firm... awesome....she didnt ask me.what I wanted done or where I was hurting...after 5 minutes of her scratching my head I said can we please move on to the rest of my body...then she went to my neck and shoulder and I asked for more pressure, she ignored me after 5 minutes I thought I dont want to waste 90 minutes like this so I stopped her and said lets just do 30 minutes .. she gets overly upset and yells at me... At this point I sit up and say I am done, this isnt relaxing or therapeutic. Here is why I give 4 stars the manager did the right thing and found me another therapist named Jason...he was amazing.... Best massage ever!
Visited in Sept 16 for a facial and Nov 16 for a massage when I was in the area visiting family. My facial was very professionally done and my skin felt soft and looked rested afterwards. Their skin care products were offered-not pushed. My massage was deep tissue focused mostly on neck, shoulders and upper back (I get migraines from holding tension in those areas) and my legs (I run). The technique was different from what I am used to back home, but was effective on my knots. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the membership plan was offered-not pushed. The facility is clean, quiet and relaxing. Dont hesitate to book here!
Wish I could rate zero stars . . . This company is ridiculous. I had a subpar facial about a month ago. The esthetician attempted to sell me about 10 products afterwards. Then the receptionist asked about becoming a member and prebooking my next appointment. I was not impressed by this facial so I was not planning on paying their ridiculous member fee. Apparently, I was booked for another appointment. I received a call stating that I missed my appointment tonight and if I could not attend then I would be charged 100% for the service. $125!!! I understand the estheticians time is valuable so I attempted to reschedule for this service that I would be charged for. The receptionist then rudely informed me that I would still be paying for the service I missed tonight in addition to the new service since they had left me a confirmation voicemail (which I have no record of receiving). I wish I would have read the reviews before ever stepping foot into this place.
STAY FAR AWAY!!!I read all of the bad reviews and they all validate what a horrible place this is. They will lie to you to get you to sign the contract. Make sure you want to be in a concrete 12 month contract before you sign with absolutely no way out. This business is ridiculous! The manager Stacy is unbelievably rude! If you want to do business, go to a different location or a different massage salon. I could go on, but its not worth my time.
Therapist are hit or miss. If you ate unhappy with this company they do not allow you to cancel your membership. I wasnt told until i became very unsatisfied with this company. This company will be robbing me and taking food out of a 5 year olds mouth until June of 2016. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Go to a chiropractor or more professional doctors office type place.
I honestly dont understand all the negative reviews. I went to this location the other day, and was throughly impressed. From the time I called to set up an appointment, to the time I left, I was treated extremely well. I can honestly say that this was the best massage Ive ever had. Angie was amazing. I suffer from a bit of sciatica, an today I feel a million times better. Thank you Angie! Ill definitely be back!
I went there on the Saturday before Mothers day intent on buying a massage for my wife as a gift. Got there at 846pm and the doors were closed but hours posted is 8am to 10 pm. The lady I see inside is mouthing were closed and some other stuff that I couldnt make out but didnt have the decency to explain to the man in front of her establishment why she is closed over an hour early. I had my children with me and we are wondering whats up. Now I get back in my car and call the store to ask if I could still get what I came for but she refused to pick up the phone. Then I notice a lady come out from the back of the store and I notice that she wouldnt leave because I am still sitting there. Lady eventually walks out with the store employee after she shut off the light. This employee apparently gets in her car and calls 911 because as I am not leaving in a timely manner for her. I decided to go into Ritas next door because I promised my children Ice cream when we left the house. As we are getting done there and are getting back in the car, here comes a Maple Grove squad SUV headed towards the car and ai am guessing he taught better than to bother me because after a brief pause, he decides to turn away from me and leave. Great Job Massage Envy! I wont be back. I promise you that....
Terrible management, hard to schedule, and appointments were lost when scheduled in advance. Ive been trying to close my membership for 5 months now (after meeting the one year commitment)... ended up cancelling credit card to stop charges... called Manager multiple times and they do not return calls.
3 times in a row, after specifically asking for “deep tissue pressure”, I was scheduled with someone who can only perform light pressure... 3 times in a row. I’m not a complainer but Iv definitely waisted a ton of time going in & not being able to be treated.. EMPLOYEES NEED TO PAY MORE ATTENTION & STAY OFF OF THIER CELL PHONES WHEN HELPING CUSTOMERS SO THEY DO IT CORRECTLY!! Respectfully.
Love the therapists, but not the new agreement they make you sign. Read it carefully and you will find you are giving all your rights, no matter what happens, even a fire or malfunctioning of equipment. Sorry to part ways after over 10 years due to this ridiculous agreement. It is completely one sided in their favor.
Either your filter on your website isnt working or youre actually booked up through the beginning of 2023. Cant find a single appointment ANY day or time based on my preferences. Can someone confirm if theyre ACTUALLY booked? Hoping this is a mistake or else Ill have to go elsewhere.
Good compared to other Massage Envy locations. Prices are competitive, usually the massage are very good, but sometimes Im disappointed when i regu a new therapist. Essentially, you get the quality you pay for.
Unfortunately Kat the Manager doesn’t get it. I was treated like a peasant, hung up and frankly insulted. This is not an indictment on the therapist but rather insight on management and how much room they have for growth.
I have been going here regularly for probably ten years and I like it here. I just wish that every time I find a therapist I liked, that they would not leave but I always end up with another good one anyway.
I WANT EVERYONE TO UNDERSTAND THAT MASSAGE ENVY CONTINUES TO BILL YOUR CREDIT CARD AFTER THE 12 MONTH CONTRACT. WHY EVEN REFER TO IT AS A 12 MONTH CONTRACT IF YOU CONTINUE TO BILL PEOPLE AFTER THE TERM IS UP. I HAVE MOVED AN HOUR AWAY AND WAS TOLD I NEED TO CANCEL IN WRITING WITH THE MAPLE GROVE LOCATION. I HAVE BEEN LAID OFF FROM MY JOB, SO I HAVE NOT GONE IN DUE TO THE FACT I DONT HAVE EXTRA MONEY FOR TIPPING THERAPISTS. I HAVE 11 UNUSED MESSAGES AND WAS TOLD THAT ONCE I CANCEL MY ACCOUNT IN WRITING I LOSE THOSE MASSAGES EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE PAID FOR. APPARENTLY YOU CAN PUT YOUR ACCOUNT ON HOLD BUT CANT RECEIVE MASSAGES DURING THE TIME YOUR ACCOUNT IS FROZEN. I THOUGHT IN THIS STATE THAT ANY GIFT CARD COULD NOT EXPIRE OR HAVE A MONTHLY MAINTENANCE FEE. THIS BUSINESS IS NOT FORTHRIGHT OR ACCOMMODATING IN ANY WAY.PLEASE BEWARE AND I HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS SOMEONE ELSE FROM GETTING TAKEN BY MASSAGE ENVY!!! HEATHER
Always love the therapists there. Been a member for years. Receptionists are okay, they could be nicer over the phone. Thats my only complaint.
This place is great! Not only do they offer affordable massages, their staff is friendly and are always going above and beyond for their customers. I will most definitely be returning.
They were great for my first time there. They were friendly and open about all the questions I had. The therapist were great making me feel wonderful after I left.
First time client. Very pleasant on the phone, called to let me know I could come in early. The therapist was very great.
The companys cancellation policy is horrible if you have a medical condition or an emergency situation they still charge you full for any service. Really bad.
Really loved my therapist and wish I could remember her name but she did deep tissue and both times has been amazing.
Amber was great! I did the stretch therapy today and she is very knowledgeable and did a great job! I feel so much better!
I love my therapist! She listen and make sure I feel good during my session
The staff was very courteous and I had a wonderful 60 minute massage. I would definitely recommend them to people.
I called to make an appointment and got rudely rejected. This establishment is an utter joke and so are the people who work here. Will not return and would not recommend. Spend your hard earn money elsewhere.
Front Desk is Fantastic - Therapists Incredible! Way better than Blaine all-around!!
Massage Envy makes it easy for me to care for myself. Easy reservations and payment, excellence therapists!
Love my therapist she does an amazing job and such a nice person!
My appointment was scheduled wrong and they were very rude to me. The manager was very rude also. Will never go back
Appointments are constantly cancelled. I would go somewhere else where the service is consistent and reliable.
I have an excellent therapist in Kisha. Wish I could go more often.
Love going for massages, staff is friendly every time I go too
Loved it!! Wish they had more daytime deep tissue therapists.
Too many bad reviews to even consider this place. I think they need to consider hiring a consultant to revamp this chain.
Hard to schedule and not very good customer service
Jeff is amazing! !! I feel brand new again!
Extremely rude staff and management. Would NOT recommend this at all.
Maisey gives the best deep tissue massages!
Relaxing great massage. Thanks Sarah
Loved it for four years now.
Always great service
Good front staff
Love this place
Feels like home
Lucy was so attentive as always. She knows my style and uses the perfect amount of pressure. She always asks where she can give extra attention to help with my aches and stress. Some days I need quiet and peace, I’ve fallen asleep and even snored! Others, like today, I was a bit of a chatterbox and it was lovely!Thank you Lucy, your service has been a Godsend to me.
