My husband and I have been coming to desert sun resort sun for around 4 years now, and each time it has been like a little slice of heaven. The rooms are clean and resort is extremely well kept. The vibes both fun and tranquil. Everyone we meet here has always been extremely respectful and we always cannot wait to get back here for another stay. The location is also great, with lots of great food spots nearby to either get food delivered or go out on the town. 5 stars all around for this quaint resort in the heart of Palm Springs!
The ground keep is clean and the staff is welcoming. The volleyball set up in the pool was fun. Lots of nice spots to isolate yourself and relax. Looking forward to coming back for the day. Thank you
I came here with my boyfriend for his birthday and my first nudist retreat. Desert Sun Resort was an incredible experience and the accommodations and staff were excellent. The environment was very comfortable and friendly which made my first nudist experience a breeze. We will definitely be back again soon! Thank you so much for providing such an amazing experience.
For us this place is heaven on earth. We especially loved using the beautiful tennis court.Suggestion: Get smart TVs so have a choice to watch Netflix, etc.Until next time! Thanks for a relaxing time away.
This was our first visit but will not be our last. Clean, well cared for grounds. Other guests were open and friendly. I wish the cafe had been open. A cold beer and hamburger late afternoon would have been a nice addition.
I rarely write reviews. And the fact Im willing to pen one for a nudist place shows how much my experience meant to me. This day pass was one of my best purchases ever. Theresa was professional on the phone and even better in person. Joanna, the bartender/server is stellar. 1000% great at her job!!! More importantly, she has a heart of gold and judges no one. Shes going to excel anywhere she ever goes in life. Its an honor to know her.The environment was top notch. Lunch was excellent!!!! Fellow guests were simply lovely and welcoming to a solo male. Cant wait to come back. It was my 1st time. Recent transplant to the area.Blessings to the entire staff. Professional, efficient, hard working. You do hospitality very very well. Every single one of you!!! Yay, you!!!!!!!
Dear Desert Sun Resort,I hope this message finds you well! I am writing to express my utmost delight and appreciation for the incredible experience my wife and I had during our recent stay at your marvelous resort. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by your attentive staff, who provided exceptional hospitality throughout our entire stay. Their genuine smiles, professionalism, and eagerness to assist promptly made us feel right at home. The impeccable accommodations at Desert Sun Resort exceeded our already high expectations. Not only was our room pleasing to the eye, but it also showcased a pristine level of cleanliness and attention to detail. The serene atmosphere, coupled with the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, instantly set the tone for a truly immersive and rejuvenating experience. One aspect that truly stood out was the exceptional level of service we received from your resorts team members. From the front desk to the restaurant staff (Jocelyne and Joanna), every encounter was marked with friendliness, efficiency, and a sincere desire to ensure our stay was nothing but perfect. We were particularly impressed by the staffs ability to anticipate our needs, going above and beyond in making thoughtful recommendations and ensuring all our requests were promptly fulfilled. The resorts facilities were equally exceptional, providing everything necessary for a truly memorable getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the well-maintained swimming pool, which offered both relaxation and invigorating opportunities, while the jacuzzi provided a much-needed indulgence from the rat-race we call life!Furthermore, we must express our gratitude for the culinary delights we discovered at the resorts restaurant. The menu showcased a variety of delectable dishes, carefully prepared by your talented chef (Roberto). Each meal was perfect!Lastly, we cannot emphasize enough the idyllic location and natural surroundings of Desert Sun Resort. The serene beauty of the surrounding desert, coupled with the tantalizing colors of the sunsets, provided an awe-inspiring backdrop for our stay. The tranquility and seclusion offered us an unmatched sense of calm and serenity we had been seeking.Overall, our experience at Desert Sun Resort was fantastic, largely due to the exceptional dedication of your staff, the impeccable accommodations, the outstanding service, and the picturesque setting. We sincerely thank you for providing us with an unforgettable getaway, filled with cherished memories. As fervent ambassadors of Desert Sun Resort, we will undoubtedly recommend it to friends, family, and anyone seeking an outstanding oasis of relaxation and hospitality.Once again, we extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude. We eagerly look forward to the opportunity to return and make new memories at Desert Sun Resort soon.Warmest regards,M Baker
I was with a friend about 5 years ago and again a couple years back. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We really came for the laid back vibe and naturist setting, where we felt completely comfortable, even though the staff and some other visitors were dressed. We kept pretty much to ourselves, explored Palm Springs during the day but more in the cooler evenings. Tons to do in that town. When we werent out and about, we just floated in the side pool and talked for hours, or enjoyed a drink by the firepit in the evening. Its the desert, so I had no problems with water restrictions and didnt find any other conditions of the stay intrusive. We werent in the room much, but they were comfortable and had everything we needed. Not over-the-top expensive and I wouldnt call it a luxury spa, but I wasnt looking for that either. The resort been around for awhile and is a favorite of many, including me. Hope to return soon.
Had an amazing relaxing time. From the employees to the guest all were very friendly. The grounds were absolutely stunning.Loved the option of salt water or regular pools. The spa was awesome. The massages were top notch. The only problem was there were no coffee makers in the room.
OMG I cannot recommend this place enough.First of all, the service. We arrived early, before the room was ready. They let us check in and told us that they would try to get the room ready for us to get into early. In the meantime, we were free to use the facilities and charge to our room. When the room was ready (early), they found us lounging by the pool and delivered our keys. The cafe took orders and served us poolside. Evening delivering drinks to us while we were in the pool. And the staff looked like they genuinely enjoyed working there. They were all super pleasant and helpful. Just that little thing made the stay so much nicer. The FacilitiesEverything was so clean and well kept. The pools and hot tubs are open 24 hours. The room was a delight. We did not stay long enough to enjoy all of the amenities, but everything was pristine. The ServicesWe did have time to take advantage of the spa. We got massages--HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I got the CBD oil massage because of some issues with my joints. I will tell you, I have not felt this pain free in a long time.Overall, this was a fantastic experience. We are already planning our next trip there -- and will definitely book a much longer stay.
Loss of access to the upper pools and elimination of the exercise room are very unfortunate. The rules surrounding no longer allowing use of personal alcohol beverages is a major downside. This change is to force guests to have to buy alcoholic beverages only from the resort cafe, with very limited selection and lack of creativity. This is a major change dampening guests stay and enjoyment. It also likely had something to do with the loss of the former relationship between the resort and the full-time condominium residents, with guests migrating into the condominium owners area due to the new alcohol restrictions, and causing increased problems for the owners. Due to this loss of access to the saltwater pool and jacuzzi in the condominium area, as well as the elimination of the exercise facilities, we shortened our intended first stay from three days to just overnight, and canceled our return trip altogether. The most disappointing part is we were not informed about all these changes when we called to do our bookings. All very unfortunate changes that have adversely affected the entire operation and feel of what was once a longstanding, unique, and exceptional facility.
My wife and I stayed three nights. We have already booked a 10 night return trip. Very relaxing and friendly environment. Pools were clean and warm. Lunch is available Thursday through Monday. Very nice employees throughout the resort.
First timers to Desert Sun, it was a really clean place. The room #6 was fantastic. Good Service, friendly people. We met the Owners and would say Great couple to chat with. All different age people but more older 40+, mostly couples. My wife and I had a good time no pressure. Id ask them to work on the DJ dance room. Small closed off dance room, I would avoid the dancing. Drinks expensive so bring lots drinks.
January is such a lovely month to go somewhere sunny. By weather reports we were a little concerned it wouldnt be warm enough but we had three great days in the sun. When your days planning revolves around which pool at what time it seems fairly healthy. The room was nothing fancy but workable. I was able to do nearly normal routine in the gym room.Minor complaints: the bathroom was a one person at a time affair. The constant XM radio a little too loud at the main pool got old.
Fantastic place to relax clothes free! Cafe has delicious food and drinks. Check the cafe hours ahead of time, not always open. We loved the quiet pool and massages. One of our favorite weekend getaways.2022 update-still our fav sunny spot to get away!
My wife was unable to be with me for this trip. The resort still made me feel welcome for my one week stay. I truly LOVED the pools and surroundings. All the pools and hot tubs are top notch. All staff and grounds people were friendly and nice to chat with. The rooms in the Chaparral Hotel are a little dated but serve the purpose as they are intended. I would recommend the second floor and ask for one with an balcony outside the room. All other guest were friendly and in the same mind set. Great place to lay outside in the sun naked and fall asleep. Very much looking forward to a return trip. If you have been wanting to try a place such as this but were unsure just remember this, everyone else has felt the same way that you will on your first visit. Being naked is a BIG deal but after a couple of days one realizes that it is really NO big deal at all. I promise you, that you WILL NOT regret a truly memorable visit to the Desert Sun Resort. Sincerly, Bruce
Was wife and I 1st time at at nude resort and we stayed for the day. Nothing negative to say at all. Staff we super friendly. The resort was clean and tranquil. Not many people because we went on a Sunday but the people who were there were very friendly and treated us newcomers as if we were regulars like themselves. We will be going back but will stay at the resort for the weekend.
Been coming here for over 15 years. They are now so obsessed with their beverage policy that a cup of water is no longer allowed unless it has a branded label on it....even if you bring it from the restaurant. The pool and grounds are lovely but not worth dealing with the beverage police! Things change.
Its a delightful place to escape from the stresses of everyday life. The pools are wonderful, one being a salt water pool. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. The rooms and condos are excellent. And best of all, its clothing optional. (So no photos.)
This place was quiet and boring actually. We were here for the day and the rules and restrictions is freaking rediculous.. even come down to bringing your own water to drink, youll have to buy it there, imaging the amount of water you would need to buy from them when its 115 degrees outside. Cant do this cant do that, even hearing comments from other people here, its like a prison camp. Nothing compare to Sea Mountain resort nearby... I wouldnt come back here again. Not very friendly staff either.
The experience exceeded our expectations. The staff was attentive and generous and the grounds were gorgeous. The only downside is that there werent many guests there to socialize with and it was a little cool weather wise..
Nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains is a magical place called Desert Sun Resort.Beautifully maintained and immaculately manicured landscaping makes for a luxurious destination.Whether the swimming pools, Jacuzzi, Tennis court, Spa, restaurant or simply relaxing in a clothing optional atmosphere all one would wish is there. Enhanced by the associates such as Teresa, Russo and Salma and the many others who make efforts beyond measure to ensure ones stay is truly memorable and shall keep one coming back to this Oasis in the Coachella Valley. The staff are wonderful ambassadors for Desert Sun Resort. If one wishes an assuredly unique experience do as I have done for more than 10 years, take a drive or a flight to Palm Springs and see this magical place for yourself.AlOhio
My first time visiting Palm Springs and while searching for things to do I stumbled upon Desert Sun Resort. Love the grounds, staff and manager even came to greet us. We did not stay at the resort although came back many times during the week for a day pass. The only complaint I have and this is my fault as well for being shy, is we were hoping to chat and possibly spark friendships but we were mainly on our own.We will definately go back!
We decided to visit Desert Sun Resort for the day since they offer day passes. Its been awhile since our last visit but always had a great time. However, this one want the best experience. Their website says you have to pay for the day visit online in order to assure you have a spot, apparently they limit day passes, but when I tried to pay, it never asked what day I was planning to go. So I called and talked to Kimberly who said I could just pay when I came in. We went the next day and they asked for our Ids?? My wife doesnt carry hers when we go out together. I told them we werent going to be drinking alcohol so she didnt have it on her. But I guess its their policy. I could live with that, but it would of been great if Kimberly would of mentioned it when I called. So shame on us for not having it. So it was a wasted drive for an hour each way. Thats not the reason for the 2 star review, this is. I had emailed and asked if we could bring water, since its over 100, and do we need towels? The manager answered and said they provide 1 towel each and no coolers?? I didnt ask about bringing a cooler but good to know, so we brought our water anyway. We checked in and mentioned the whole issue with the no Ids and not once did they even say hey sorry about that nothing, but oh well, it was our fault. there were only about 12 people there and basically had the place to ourselves. After a few hours we were getting hungry and wanted to have lunch at the cafe. But guess what, the cafe was CLOSED for the day. That was never mentioned at all, even when we checked in. Since we werent allowed to bring a cooler in, with maybe a sandwich or something, we couldnt eat or get anything extra to drink. The place isnt close enough to walk anywhere for lunch, so it was a major disappointment. Also, Tuesday must be their landscape day as we had the pleasure of hearing all the equipment going for the first 2 hours or so.So, you would think they would communicate with someone inquiring about a day pass that the cafe will be closed and we will be doing our landscape work on the day you planned to visit. We then could of planned another day or decided not to even go. Communication solves many, many problems DSR, try it. I realize this went on for awhile, but I dont like reading reviews that only give a vague reason for the low rating, I wanted to explain the reason. Needless to say we wont be back anytime soon
Omg this place is fantastic! After being there for a few minutes youre totally comfortable being nude. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming! Cant wait to go back! The rooms are nice and the little cafe was delicious!
Not very LGBQT+ friendly. Cafe waitress was rude and guests told me I dont belong there and to leave. The cafe prices are absurd for drinks and a salad cost me $120.
Great resort and staff, everyone very friendly and polite. the only issue I have is my wife and I were drinking coffee in the cafe that we got at the front desk and were told we could not drink it there or around the main pool area even though we had just ordered breakfast at the cafe.really moronic rule, next time I will skip spending 200.00 in the cafe and go out and eat.
One blonde lady at the front desk is not the nicest person. People that live there dont like guests. One person that works there tells you one thing and one tells you another. And they told me terra cotta was closed which was a lie and they knew it. If you want clothing optional and a nice friendly environment there is better places then this. It looks nice but thats it.
Stayed a week over the New Year-2014. Had a wonderful time. Great place, very clean and the staff was very accommodating. We are going to return for Valentines day. Once you stay at a place like this, naked it is hard to stay at any other regular hotel...
The resort is so welcoming. 3 pools and 2 jacuzzis to choose from. Super clean. My second visit, the 1st was in a condo, 2nd in a villa. Loved both ❤️
Nice place the grounds were amazing largest place we have been to out of the 3 places. (Sea Mountain, Living Waters) they even have a restaurant and a waitress bv the pool for drinks and food. My husband and I were there for 3 days and never had to get dressed
Very peaceful, clean rooms , immaculate grounds , warm pool and very nice hot tub. Pools open 24 hours
Our favorite clothing optional resort, always relaxing. Meet many friendly people here. Weekends with dances are the best. Always a great time in the buff.
Amazing grounds, super big, and staff is incredible, mostly older straight people but welcoming to all. If u have never tried this type of place this is the place to go super amazing
I only wish I could stay longer, this has to be the number one oasis here in Palm 🌴 Springs. It is so relaxing and I felt very welcome. It is at the top of my list in any further travels I undertake around the world..... Cheers Andrew. (Kiwi from down under)
Very nice resort. Clean. Friendly. Safe. Heated pools. We will definitely return again. Wonderful massage!
We absolutely loved loved loved this place. We will return soon and hopefully we will be more planned out and ready for it. Great vibes all around and yummy drinks
Great place to enjoy the sun and warm weather.
Great vacation spot! They make you feel so comfortable and its very relaxing. Super friendly people here!
What a relaxing place. Met great people, the staff is super friendly. A quiet COVID vacation. That allowed for sun and social distancing.
Was there for my 51stBirthdayand was immediately comfortable and was able to relax. Staff awesome! Nearby to ammedities! Would definitely return. Quiet and nice.
I really like this place, its not party central outside of the weekends, but personally I like the quiet. The food is pretty good too.
Very relaxing oasis surrounded by great restaurants. Billy Reeds was killer!
Great place, clean & comfy rooms, excellent customer service. Definitely returning!
Great place very relaxing. Dont forget to get a massage. She was wonderful!
Very clean and quiet. I would have liked to know before that the cafe was only open on weekends
Clothes optional IS the thing. Not to shabby of a place. Very Friendly atmosphere
The showers are a little tricky, but we loved our stay.
Beautiful resort and very friendly staff. Great place to visit for sure.
Ive been visiting here for about 10 yrs. Great for friendly gatherings or just a solo week.
Not what we thought..more of a senior place...no microwave in room, when they said it would..bed hard.
We love this placeStaff is great and love meeting fellow guests.
