I would definitely come again if it were a family trip with kids. The pool was full of kids and they were having a great time. Game area and kid friendly area was also really awesome for kids. We went on a girls trip - adults, so it was nice but not the right hotel for restaurants, dressing up, club vibe, etc. Nice for family time though! Rooms were decent … nothing fancy but nothing wrong. No wow factor. Not enough adult entertainment choices for me.
Fun for everyone. Clean and beautiful rooms. Kids loved the arcade and bumper cars. If you are not doing valet parking it could take a bit time to get a spot especially after 3pm but I got a spot 2 times within 7 to 8 min.
Positives; Quick check in and Quick check out. Nice bathroom and abundance of towels. Nice seating area for pool. Security came quickly.Negatives: Smells of weed, even in bedrooms. The room next to me had occupants fighting, shouting, banging items and consistent antisocial behaviour which I had to alert security too. Those occupants continued to stay, with audible vomiting noises and their arguments throughout my stay.My bedroom was fairly clean, but my bed wasn’t made so when I went to sleep I realised my bed had no duvet and yet I still had to pay a housekeeping fee :/ since I checked out online. I support housekeeping but I didn’t receive the expected level of service. The hotel itself if quite grimy, the sofa near the bed had visible marks which was not reassuring that it was clean.Aside from the antisocial behaviour from the occupants next to me, the smell of weed and a grimy room it was okay. Wouldn’t stay here again, wouldn’t consider it family friendly. As a solo traveller I expected a resort to be safe and welcoming. It ended up being safe, but not a very pleasant environment.
I stayed at the GSR this past weekend with my family and the young lady that helped us at the Players Card area, her name was Natasha, she had some cool eye makeup. She went above and beyond and we had a great conversation. I just wanted to say I appreciate her service, but what really caught my attention during our conversation, I called myself a customer and she immediately corrected me and made it known that I was a guest, not a customer. Her unique and outgoing personality really stood out to me. Great Job.
Room was clean and comfortable. Casino had some decent gambling. Easy to earn a comp for a free buffet on Thursday. I didnt like being charged $2/day for a housekeeping gratuity when no housekeeping was performed on our room.
I just visited this Hotel, originally we were in the Sierra Tower apparently whoever cleaned this room did not do a very good job cleaning it. We found a red Solo cup full of soda in the refrigerator, I also found a piece of bone in the room . The rest of the room looks really nice.. at night time we realize that the AC was not working, and it was over 100° every day that we were there. Around 2:00 a.m. the room next to us there was a child who cried from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. in the morning I went to the front desk and told him that the AC was not working in my room either fix it or switch me to another room. I also told them of the other things. And I did complain about the walls being so things, that I heard a child that cried for over 4 hours. They were pretty good and understanding. They said yes we know the walls are very thin and you hear everything so they switched us to another Tower. The tower was quiet the walls were better and of course the AC was working. Thank you so much. I wished that the night club was open.
On My last visit to The Grand Sierra Resort, my main reason was to enjoy the amazing experience that I remembered while at the SPA! The treatment of the SPA Staff and the Service is Simply The Best!!! My immediate reaction was with the friendliness of Sarah, at the front desk. She was sure to satisfy in any way that she could service her guests. This was an awesome experience. As with my excitement being high, the services provided by Leslie, Our Hostess and “Lady of the Hour”, is very warm, accommodating and welcoming! She is Unforgettable and an Awesome Hostess!! I must say the best part of this experience is the skills, care and talents of Lloyd, the Masseuse, the man with the Magic Hands!! Simply The Best Cook Ever!! He has the ability to make you feel the calming affect in releasing all body stress!! Amazing job and I sincerely appreciate and admire the effort and dedication of the entire team!! Thank you Lloyd, Leslie, Sarah and all the SPA staff members for All Your Support and Love in providing Your Guest With Your Best!! See You Next Time!!
I just spent the week there for Hot August Nights. I will not be coming back. I took my whole family there. rented seven rooms at the cost of over $10000.00. If you had rooms from floor 17 and up you had to wait in line for the elevators at times up 45 minutes to get to you room and the same to get back down. Parking was terrible. ever day in the evening i had to spend 30 min looking for a place to park .On Saturday night I spent an hour and a half driving around for a place to park.i parked a block away. I went to the front desk and asked were a guest staying at the hotel can park. The told me that it is first come first served. They let locals park in the parking lot for free to come look at cars and i was paying to stay at GSR with no place to park. I ended up going back to my truck and paid $20.00 for valet parking. i took my valet parking stub back to the front desk and asked if they could comp my parking. the lady at the desk said no that I made the choice to pay for valet. I under stand that it was Hot August Nights week and there was a lot of people there for the event.I still should have been able to park. In the past years i have stayed at the pepper mill and had no issues. next year Im back to the pepper mill!
My mom was offered a 3 night stay for free, so we were excited! However, my mom had upgraded to a Queens deluxe which was supposed to be the new junior suite. They told her all she had to put down was $25. We get there and of course it was $150 more for the upgrade, then it was another $125 for incidental fees. I paid the $125 that was supposed to be refunded, but instead they charged $127 and told me I wouldn’t be refunded.I started bringing my own cleaning things for hotel rooms because as you can see from the pictures, Hotels are not clean anymore. I don’t know when this movement started, but it’s the reality. As soon as we got in the room, I started wiping everything off with my Clorox wipes, sprayed my all purpose cleaner to clean the sink, toilet, and shower. Wiped the phones etc., etc.. Only to sit down and find a hair on my pillow case. I will say this though at first the housekeeping crew was lagging, but after the first day of keeping us waiting, then they were on it as far as cleaning, so they stepped up their game. The restaurant Grand Cafe, you have to try theirTempura vegetables, and their cauliflower wings were impeccable! I ate the vegetables with a side of ranch instead of the sauce it comes with, but please try it if you love fried vegetables. I mean the flavor, the seasoning, and the crunch I can’t give the words to make you feel the true pleasure of this food. However, the service was not that great, well I’ll say this, the people who served us our drinks were actually the sweet people who deserved the tips, and the people serving our food were the crazy ones! The first night we went because it was late, it was me and my parents, and another family behind us. We waited in line for at least 40 minutes, and we would have not been seated if the mom of the family behind us wouldn’t have asked what’s going on. Then I have to tell you this and then that is all I will say. We get to our seats, the young man who served our drinks was a real sweetheart, then we sat at our table for another hour. Our initial waitress, just flat out told us, she assigned us to someone who could help us better. She said that she was sure her manager would be sending her home. I had to just laugh because it was the most ridiculous blatant act of prejudice I’ve ever seen. 😂 Yes you guessed it the server she assigned to us was a young black lady. She really said that, Oh I felt that she could serve you better. WOW! I told my mom that we wouldn’t go back, but the food was so good! So I’m only recommending because of the food, not the service at all. Our second time going, our waitress was going crazy because my mom told her that we waited that for over an hour. So the lady got an attitude and was very sarcastic. Funny once again the young lady who served our drinks was super sweet. However, I give it a 8.5 out of 10 due the lack of customer service, the food 9.5/10. Over all, the staff needs to be more organized, and if they are prejudiced for whatever reason, that’s a personal issue. They should get trained to have better poker faces. Racism is old, it is stupidity, and really an insult to God, not the person because he made them. So take it up with him. Thank you so much for listening.
Spent two nights at the Grand Sierra Resort while on a business trip to Reno. The rooms are nice and spacious. A bit of wear evident on some of the furniture, but not run down. The bathroom and shower were above average and the showerhead put out plenty of water. Theres a mimi fridge and room safe hidden in one of the cabinets and coffee service and bottled water is refreshed daily. For a casino hotel the check-in process was super convenient, and I highly recommend checking in on-line before you arrive. During the day the casino is busy and full of people. Late night, after midnight, the crowd definitely changes. However I still felt safe. All in all a very good option when visiting Reno.
So we come her ki d of frequently from out of town. We saw and amazing show!! When we checked in they had given away our room that we had paid extra for and were not going to refund it. We were told that is just how it goes from the front desk. So we called and they talked to the manager we got our room the next night but they offered nothing for the inconvenience or an apology. Which is really annoying because they are normally much better than that.
We went there for a long weekend with family. They have all the amenities necessary to keep little kids entertained, big kids entertained, and adults entertained. We ate at restaurants that were within the resort and casino and the food was very good. Service at the casino, the hotel, the restaurants, the bars, and the swimming pool were all exceptional. It was our first trip to the Grand Sierra and when we left, I immediately signed up for their rewards program because we will be back.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Booked a room months ago, only to arrive and be told parking permit was $150 because of Hot August nights, and I would be parking off premises. They used guest parking for a cars how and a swap meet. Old inside, head of security looks like a fat, cardiac patient Steven Segal wannabe. Dont waste your money here. New Element hotel 2 miles away is very clean, doesnt stink like cigarettes, and they actually let you park there, AT NO CHARGE! Reporting this establishment to the Better Business Department.
I recently stayed at this hotel during a work trip. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The check-in process went pretty smoothly despite a slightly long wait in line, which seems to be the norm these days. Although there were kiosks available for check-in, I had a few questions to ask, so I opted to wait in line. I am glad I did. They ended up upgrading me to a larger room. The room itself was a delight. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the workspace was just what I needed. The air filters were clearly doing their job, as there was no hint of smoke smell near the elevators or on the 4th floor, ensuring a fresh and clean environment.I really appreciated the food options, too. There was a cafe/bakery-type shop on the casino floor that had amazing nachos. Some of the items were kind of expensive, but quite a few were actually a great deal. They also had delicious desserts.
The location was great and the casino was very nice and clean. The room was nice as well. Fair price. The downfall , the pool closed at 8pm on a Saturday ! Even after my wife called and spoke to someone before we booked because a pool is a luxury for us that doesn’t have a pool. All the kids from the pool went to the hot tubs that were open until 10pm which was miserable for adults trying to spend quality time together. The sushi joint in resort was OK nothing great. I would not eat there again. I would leave resort for food next time. Plus is they do have a bowling alley which was good for the kids.
Beautiful hotel, clean updated rooms, awesome pool, great staff - we loved this place!!!The staff at the fun quest area were SO helpful and patient with every single kid in those long lines to cash in your tickets. I was very impressed!!We will definitely stay here if we find ourselves in Reno again!
Terrible experience. My husband, myself and my son booked a room for two nights. We were woken up the second night around 2 am to what sounded like an ocean. My husband got up and turned the lights on and there was water everywhere. In a matter of minutes the entire floor was completely covered with water. It was coming through the light fixtures in the middle of the room as well as the bathroom. The bathroom was where the main leak was coming from. Part of the shower ceiling fell to the floor. My 6 year old was traumatized. They ended up giving us a new room but that was pretty much it. No apology. Nothing to try to make the situation better. I asked them if maybe they could extend our stay a day so we could go to the pool because we had planned on getting up early to go to the pool before check out. But because of the huge inconvenience of the river in our room at 2 am we overslept. They denied my request and told us we could have a $50 dining credit but it had to used before we checked out. It was 10:30, check out was at 12. There was no way we could use that before we left. All in all very disappointed in the service here at the GSR. We are locals and go often. Guess we have to find a new hotel.
This was our first time staying at GSR and we were very happy with our choice to stay there instead of our usual hotel on the main casino strip. Though I was worried about what the rooms would look like based on the carpet in the hallway, the rooms were impressive and spacious. Some staff were really nice but quite a number were grumpy. We were willing to overlook that considering the number of intoxicated people they have to deal with on a daily basis throughout the day. There were enough activities to keep the adults and kids in the group busy throughout the weekend.
We booked a 2 night 3 day stay here at GSR and it seems nice until you get to your room that online sleeps 4 and the sofa bed did not have the proper size mattress and was not dressed for sleeping. No bed linens in the room no extra pillows or blankets. We waited over a half hour on the phone for the front desk to tell us that’s the way the room was. We had to go down to the front desk and then again explain our room only to be told that we would then be charged for a roll away bed in which we already paid for 4 people in the room! They eventually said they would give us the beds at no charge but I’m not sure that was true. We’ll see at check out. I’ll post again after checkout. Hopefully no more issues here. Also the Vista tower elevators are not all working only two are in operation now 😩. Takes a while to get up and down. The room shows it age and needs an update as well as more furniture. Saving factor is all the access for kid friendly activities and chances for parents to have alone time.
My favorite part is that I did NOT smell smoke. Food was great, service was wonderful. A fun place to people watch even if you Dont gamble. Didnt spend the night so I dont have an opinion about the rooms.
Room was clean. Location perfect for getting to a store or gas station.Front desk employees were good.Service in the casino area on the other hand was not very good. Me and my husband waited for an hour or two at the slot machines, waitress walked right past us looking at us. She didn’t offer us any drinks, I would at least think they would give you drinks when you play at the slots, in my opinion not worth spending money on slots if you don’t get offered any drinks.Had to drive to gas station just to get drinks.
This is the first and last time we will be staying here. I was really torn up too since I was really wanting to love this hotel because of all of what it had to offer. Unfortunately, as soon as we went to lie down we noticed a few stains and even more on the inside. I was mind blown 🤯 either the quality has been very inferior or we just got dealt a bad room! I’m really hoping they were just makeup stains and not blood or feces
Have stayed at this hotel over a dozen times for Hot August Nights but will never return after our most recent visit. A/C in the room was broken, fridge was broken, ice machine in the hallway was broken, drinks from the vending machine were hot. Every piece of furniture had questionable stains. Disgusting and uncomfortable, the room temperature made it impossible to sleep. The elevator situation is a complete fiasco as well, at times we were waiting 15+ minutes and having to ride with 20+ other guests. When we voiced these issues, the best GSR could offer was to transfer us to another room, which they could not guarantee would have working A/C. Overall a very disappointing experience, not at all what you expect when spending thousands of dollars on lodging for a few days. Lots of great memories at this place, but unfortunately we will not be back after this wildly disheartening stay. 0 stars!
Awesome place to stay a few nights on our road trip. Booked directly through their site (was best price I could find when browsing). Booked for just one night, and after checking in got an email offer for a stay at a discounted price and with resort fee waived. That was nice (but also makes me question this resort fee if they can do easily waive it, especially when it was pretty much equal to 60% of total room cost)I’m not much of a gambler, so spent time at pool and walking around the building. The pool area is nice, but the main “family” swimming pool was super dirty (bugs, lots of sunscreen, and other debris in it), but going up to the adult only infinity pool was way cleaner and nicer. The arcade area was also fun with lots of options, but a bit expensive for games. You can burn through 20$ quickly on just a few games. They have also a massive bowling alley, and I believe was at 16$/person/hour or something. Which is a bit more than I am willing to pay for a few games.Location, while not the worst, is pretty removed from the city core. But a quick bus ride gets you there, and the bus stop luckily is right at one of the building entrances.
We were sure what we expected since we dont normally go to resorts like this but I have to say its an enjoyable place to spend a few days without kids. Theres always something going on between concerts, the casino, movie theater, arcade, bowling, and everything else this place offers. There are a bunch of restaurants and while they arent exactly fine dining theyre good. This place needs one thing though, a park. Something small, manicured and appropriate to the climate and terrain. A nice rock garden with shade, benches and maybe a mile of paths just so you can get outside and enjoy the weather without being blasted by music and noise. If theyd even have a quiet hour twice during pool hours, that would be nice too.But we had a good time relaxing and taking part in the activities. Make sure you go off the reservation to see what else the city has to offer. They arent kidding when they call Reno the biggest little city.
Just hosted our family reunion here at this it was all around a mostly good experience. The staff in general was great. We had a great time with the buffet, escape rooms, casino in general, and the arcade. The room was great, view was nice, the water pressure was not so much. The pool felt small with how many folks were there and the size of the hotel, which made enjoying it a bit difficult. The biggest negative by far with this resort oddly enough is the elevators. The concept seems good, but the actual execution was an absolute disaster and just a completely self inflicted wound. There wasnt a day where you didnt meet entire cars full of people who are just exhausted battling the elevator to either go down or up. When you get ushered into a service elevator by equally flustered security folks then something isnt going well.Would I return if the occasion arose? Are the elevators fixed? If not, would be a real solid maybe, would prefer elsewhere. If yes, then likely yes. Its just that frustrating.
Had a great time, room was average and we did have one minor issue but the resort quickly handled it. We enjoy staying here for all the amenities it has to offer for the kids as well as adults. Highly recommended if youre in the Reno area.
Sad. We used to like this place until our bag was stolen by the pool and security was completely unhelpful and weak. There are so many blind spots in their cameras by the pool that walking away with items seems to be quite easy. I took this up all the way to the Dir. of Security whos lack of communication was appalling. They didnt even suggest we look in lost & found. They claim there is no footage - while my smashed phones were found in Lost & Found (we thought of asking them) and my credit cards have multiple fraudulent charges and there is an active police investigation. So, in short, stay here at your own risk and know that thieves prowl this place knowing they will not be caught.
There was a guy covertly filming people as they checked in. I did not feel safe here at all. Its way to big to be efficient. Only here for the rv parking. An executive King suite was about $400 w/ tax. Lamps only turn on with the overhead lighting, a light out in the bathroom and no fan in the bathroom. Minimally clean, I was so tired I just forced myself not to look. You know that management are not giving staff enough TIME to clean a room if the rooms arent clean in a place like this. I bet they test them with timers like its an Olympic sport. Terrible management and skimping on paying workers. That is the only bet I would make on a place like this. The restaurants are literally disgusting. We overpaid at the steak house in an attempt to get something edible, and had the worst food of any 4 star hotel Ive ever stayed in my life. Theres no way this deserves the badge of 4 star. These reviews must be fake or Reno has lower standards than I thought. Only here for one night but wont even be attempting breakfast tomorrow. Where do people stay on their way down to the Sierra Nevadas after a night in bend? I swear a decent boutique hotel without slots and smoking would clean up.
We were here for the first few days of hot August nights, and my fiancé‘s birthday ! They did a pretty good job of displaying the classic cars, although I wish they didn’t have to block the hotel entrance to the public. Not realizing it was a free concert, We ended up buying tickets to sit in the shade for Thursday night to see the Wave and Starship. Some food was available outside near the area where the concert was also. We paid for the tickets to sit in the back with a table under a nice covered open canopy. View and Sound from back at the “Garage” bar was quite good. We decided by the end the tix were definitely worth the $100 each. We had comfortable, seats at a table with shade, great people to talk to, and free drinks! what more could you want? (Well maybe a few better snacks but otherwise perfect.) And I won some money at the Casino! Housecleaning at hotel could improve a bit, but a really great trip overall.
Stayed here before and everything was great. We went up Mother’s Day weekend and checked in at 7:30pm. Went up to our room and it had not been cleaned. Called the front desk and they said to come back down. Dragged all our stuff back down, waited around for the supervisor to put us in another room. Went up and it had technically been cleaned but there was hair on the toilet, the counter, the coffee bar, and a whole bundle of hair on the side of the bed. And the tile floor was real sticky. Called down and they said they would have housekeeping come re-clean the room. Went to dinner at Charlie Palmer (another poor experience where I ended up paying $96 for one of us to have dinner) came back at 10:00 to find housekeeping had not came yet. The said 30 more minutes, so we left for a drive. When we came back they had came and removed the hair from the side of the bed but everything else remained the same. They gave us $50 in food and beverage credit and refunded $39 of my resort fee. A quick one night trip and I gave this place $300 to sleep in a dirty room and eat protein bars for dinner. The view from the room was nice though.
Our visit at GSR was for enjoyment during Hot August Nights. Their venue has a large parking filled with hot rods, classics and collectable cars and trucks. Easy check in and out. The Rim restaurant food was delicious. Gambling was fun. Win a jackpot and put it all back in. I need to learn when to walk away.
Took my family here and had a great time! So many things to do and so many restaurants to choose from. The room was excellent and very clean! The craps tables did no disappoint either lol. Going out to the pool and letting the kids swim and have fun was probably our favorite thing to do.
Upon entering the casino, one is immediately struck by the vibrant atmosphere and constant activity. The resorts customer service is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff. All rooms are well-maintained and offer a comfortable and inviting ambience. The Grand Ballroom provides an expansive venue for various events and occasions, while meeting rooms are also available for business gatherings. The resorts facilities are extensive, including a spa, swimming pool, and other amenities. Overall, this establishment offers an impressive and enjoyable experience.
Personally, this is my favorite place to stay for an adult weekend in Reno. They comp nights better than other places in Reno and have pretty good rewards. Also, they have the better buffet in town and on Thursdays its easy enough to earn free buffet tickets with gambling some. The rooms are very nice. The water pressure sucks for the showers, the ambience is a bit blah compared to other casinos in Reno, and the elevators take time to get to your room. But, it also has a less crowded feel even in weekends and is easier to get around. I would recommend them for an adults weekend anytime.
We stayed at GSR for three nights during the first half of Hot August Nights. The amenities of the hotel is where its at! We rented a cabana at the pool, enjoyed services at the spa, bowled at the bowling alley, and dined at the buffet, the steakhouse, and several of the other restaurants inside of the hotel. We enjoyed the convenience of having all the activities we wanted to do inside of the hotel. The food was great all around and we are still talking about Charlie Palmers Steakhouse! The best part of our stay was in fact the service. From check-in, to the bowling alley, the buffet, and the pool server, Erewen at the Steakhouse, and definitely the anazing spa staff!!!! The service is what kept us there. Big shot out to all of the hotel staff as they did an amazing job all during a very busy time. Now the bad news and the reason why we are only at three stars...the rooms. The rooms were terrible. Mind you I chose deluxe rooms when booking, with two queens. When we arrived I asked if they had any adjoining rooms and was accommodated and given two rooms on the 6th floor. The rooms were dated, which is okay given the age of the hotel. But what was not okay was the lack of cleanliness. There was food and hair all over the floors. Dust all over the wooden headboard surrounding each bed. Hair in the shower. And a baby roach, likely going after the food on the floor under our desk. In addition to being poorly cleaned, there were some very concerning stains on the walls, lamp shade, bathroom door frame and the all the base boards and doors were stained and peeling as well. Again, given the age of the hotel we overlooked it. But the beds were the most uncomfortable beds Ive slept in at a hotel. Neither myself, my husband, nor my mother slept comfortably. In fact by the third night, I could barely walk due to my lower back hurting so bad. We had plans to go hang in Sparks and watch the drag races but we were all so tired from lack of sleep we just drove on home. Overall, I will definitely visit GSR again for the amenities. The spa was beautiful, and again we thoroughly enjoyed all they had to offer. But without a clean room and a comfy bed Im afraid I will have to book an Airbnb or stay at a neighboring hotel. Maybe one day they will upgrade the rooms and Ill stay again. The staff here were the true stars.
I have stayed here a handful of times and all of them have been a wonderful experience however, this last time up for a 10 Hour Dr. with my family, five adult children and my wife we booked our rooms adjacent to each other in the suite tower and somehow the reservations did not get made correctly after more than two hours in the lobby, waiting for our rooms to get cleaned. We finally settled in at 2 am I was unhappy with the front desk staff I don’t hear well and the heavy accent really put a damper on trying to check in. Then to charge us an additional $480 for the three rooms plus the suite after we were told that the resort charges would be waived because we reserve so many rooms next to each other just was very disappointed. This is a really cool place to stay in. This was a horrible experience this time.
Great resort/casino! Soooo much stuff to do. Great pool, including a pool for adults only. Bowling alley, Starbucks, driving range and movie theater. The casino is clean. Staff were very helpful. Less than one mile from the airport but didn’t hear any planes in the rooms. We stayed for four days and barely left, everything you need is on site!
I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you do, bring a fan. It’s 74 degrees and super stuffy in the summer in the rooms. The smoke smell travels to at least the 7th floor. If you’re overlooking the pool and there’s a concert, you won’t be able to sleep. There is a beverage cooler in the room so that was nice. The beds are okay and the room was a decent size. The ice machines also run out pretty fast.
Room was nice. Plenty of pillows and storage for two people. They fixed the tv remote quickly when I notified them it wasnt working. Shower was large but the shower floor tile was a bit slippery. I thought the toilet paper was rough. There were plenty of towels and big mirrors. Its easy to get to on the shuttle from the airport and they run on time so you wont miss your flight. Room service was great and the front desk was helpful. The spa was nice as well.
Last time I stayed the room was really dirty. The prices for food was high as well. The gaming is great. Lots of choices and the players club rewards are generous for the most part. All in all it is a good place to come if you want action, poppin nightclubs, or keep the kids entertained.
Our rooms were wonderful. We loved that there were things for kids to entertain themselves with. The only flaws were that the slots took our money right away and that there was no housekeeping for a two night stay. It was still a relaxing and enjoyable experience overall.
Room was great, I loved the view of the room. Room service took 30 mins for some towels but it was all good, super nice staff. Also for whatever reason I was robbed 5 dollars off the vending machine 🥲. Should lowkey provide a bit more entertainment for kids. I understand its casino 😭 but I stayed there for a week with my cousins and they get bored easily. For the most part great hotel.
Won’t be back! Definitely not worth it for forth of July your better off just paying for the pool 25 for adults and 10 for kids then staying at the hotel. It took us 3 hours to get back to our room and no one cared. Customer service sucked I ended up checking out and was told I was not going to get any of my receipt or anything until the next day..I never been treated so poorly at a hotel before.. just wasn’t the experience I thought it would be or the service for the price not worth it.
If I could give it 0 I would unfortunately. Very beautiful casino probably the nicest in Reno. I had an unfortunate confrontation with security, my girlfriend and I were talking to these younger girls probably in high school my girlfriend and them were mutually complimenting each other on makeup and hair and an officer asked why we were talking to these young girls and immediately pressed us without any questions previously and we ended up getting kicked out because they were incompetent and unable to handle to the situation. We ended up having 3-4 security officers confronting us when I was remaining calm, although some of them were straight being losers. I wouldn’t recommend you don’t win here anyway hit the western village or somewhere small for the big bucks these guys take there Job way to seriously. I wish I got there names before leaving so I could leave a warning but the best one i can give is just don’t go it’s not worth it go somewhere calm and respectful
Horrible rooms. The parking was bad. My husband has to park out bike 2 parking lots away and walk. The room had 4 long black hairs in the bathroom. Im blonde and my husband is bald. The shower was a walk in and flooded the bathroom. I used all the towels to mop it up. The TV remote didnt work. I will never be staying here again free rooms or not. No shelf in the shower or wash clothes. I had to wash my face with a hand towel.
This is a really nice casino-hotel close to the Reno airport. The rooms are nothing special but they are large, have nice finishes, are spotlessly clean, and most have a good view. Plenty of great dining options, lots of new and fun slots, and casino floor is safe, clean, and very well managed. Overall, a place that competes with top Vegas hotels.
The place is very nice but the elevators alone made the stay unbearable. They have smart elevators that are supposed to make it faster but it does not. It took me 30 minutes just to get to my floor. I mentioned to front desk staff about elevator issues and they just shrugged their shoulders and said yeah its really bad when its busy. They asked what floor I was on (almost the top floor) and they said, ohhh yeah that sucks.
I would like to commend Gene from the reservations team for her exceptional assistance. She was incredibly accommodating and patient as I confirmed dates with my family. Thanks to her, my family and I are very excited about our upcoming trip. Gene truly exemplifies outstanding customer service.
Great place to bring the family lots of things to do for the kids. Also. The driving range is fun. The pools are clean. The hot tubs are great. Also, lots of options for food. Would definitely recommend.
I travel for a living, and GSR is by far the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in. Avoid at all costs. Horrible. The elevator to the Vista tower is a frustrating joke (it took over 45 mins to get an elevator to our room). We asked to switch rooms due to the elevator, and the manager at the front desk was SO rude. Moldy chair cushions at the pool. We found used qtips in a chair in our room, carpets are disgusting, dust, and hair all over our room. Lights didnt work in the bathroom... we had to buy a lamp at Walmart just so we could see in the bathroom. Id rather stay at a Budget Inn than GSR. Seriously, AVOID, AVIOD, AVOID. So disappointing.
The elevators are enough of a reason to never go back. You will wait 15-30 min just for the elevator. The concert venue did not allow in/out privileges but does not sell food, doors opened for the concert at 5pm and set times went until 11pm.. 6 hours no food. They seem to allow locals at the pool which makes it crowded. I did like the escape room and the Starbucks employees were very nice.
The Grand Sierra Resort Hotel in Reno, Nevada, offers a visually appealing experience, but their customer service falls significantly short of expectations. On my first visit, I had to wait four hours past the designated check-in time, and the accommodations were subpar.Recently, I encountered another issue with their misleading online booking system. I believed I was reserving a 1,349 sq. ft. Vista Executive Suite. However, due to a change in plans, I discovered that what I was booking was not as advertised. It turns out that to get the 1,349 sq. ft. suite, you need to book an additional connecting room at an extra charge. This requirement was not clearly stated during the online booking process. Instead, it was ambiguously noted at the bottom as *two-bedroom, which is not immediately clear that an additional fee is involved. When I contacted the manager, they acknowledged that the information was not clear and that only someone familiar with the hotel or someone who called would understand that it meant paying for an additional room. As a result, I had to cancel the reservation, as the additional space required for my family of five would have cost an extra $1,000. This experience was frustrating due to the unclear website information and inadequate customer service.
Good:-There’s a fantastic Starbucks!-the restaurants had great food!-the front desk staff are absolutely fantastic and were so nice from the start!-the cleaning staff are so kind!Areas for Improvement:-The room cleanliness. I recognize that there is a shortage of staff, however, maybe providing better guidelines for what they should be cleaning might support them better! I have provided pictures of the things I found (unknown stain on bed, splatters of random substances on walls and bathrooms)-Awkward shower set-up. The shower handle is behind the door that only opens on one side. This one was a first for me! Picture provided-The heavy greeting of smoke upon entering the building from all sides. I can say I definitely got second hand smoke as I was coughing quite a bit during my week long stay. Providing air purification in the entry may help alleviate guests being SMACKED with smoke. I recognize this is a casino, however, being marked as a casino and resort, when I see resort I think “luxury” and the constant smell of smoke doesn’t create that sense, for me at least
The room was not properly cleaned. There was a lot of old rice on the floor. There were hairs on the bed. We asked for immediate cleanup since we wanted to rest after a long drive. They said it would be 40 min. We waited, but It took longer than the said time. Ended up just changing a room. I suggest the management should have a follow-up inspection on their cleanliness.
My Autistic 36 year old son , non verbal polite non aggressive adult was in the swimming pool. The teenage life guard identified by son was wet went in the pool and told him to leave, he (son)was banned from the pool. No reason given.Of course he denies it when comforted by security and his supervisor. This place needs to retrain and stop discriminating against the disabled. If we do not here back will be filing a complaint with the state.
A bunch of us stayed at GSR for a celebration of life event that took place in town. It was not a great experience. The lady who checked us in was very nice but Housekeeping here is HORRIBLE! A bunch of familys rooms were disgusting. Dirty bedding/sheets, stuff left in the fridge, crumbs all over the floor, hair EVERYWHERE! All over the bathroom, in the shower, wads on the floor, IN THE BED under the sheets! We found a top of a Deodorant that maybe broke off along with chips & crumbs under the dresser. Out of sight out of mind I guess? Then when people requested their rooms to be cleaned AFTER they checked in and found this, they still came in and did the bare minimum after waiting hours for them to come at all. Then our 2nd night staying there the main elevators for the Vista tower was not working. Seemed like only 1 elevator was barely working for tons of guest going up to their rooms around 10pm. Had to be taken up by the service elevators as did a lot of other guests. Sunday morning (the next morning) same thing, only P5 seemed to be working. The elevator lobby on floor 19 you can tell nobody cleaned at all. There were these maybe condiment packets that were there right in front of the elevators all weekend long with dried spilled stuff all over. The casino itself is cool but Housekeeping is horrible.
Great resort. Rooms were very spacious, well maintained & clean. Many amenities within steps. Lots of secure parking, might need to walk a bit! Would not hesitate to stay there again.
Mixed emotions. There for a conference for high school students, accommodated all our needs. I did call housekeeping to just have my garbage emptied, for the first full day I was there. Returning to my room they had changed out the towels, and my bed. I dont mind that as long as its not an extra charge. The same thing happened the following day, without my own personal request. Also, maintenance was happening with painting on the S floor ( in front of the elevators) while the conference was happening. Inconvenient time, especially with many minors walking in and out of the elevators. Would have been nice if the hotel would have planned this. Its before or after our conference. The painters were very polite! Love the view, the hot tub was great.
I absolutely love this place, I stay here for three days and a beautiful room. I was at the pool. We had a bungalow. I got very Sunburnt but with every visit it just keeps getting better thank you very much. Keep up the great work everybody!!!!
Take this place off your list of places to stay in Reno. Not First Responder or Veteran friendly. Web page shows that they offer up to a 30% Discount for Heroes. There is NO discount. Price is exactly the same to anyone that books online. Way to go GSR! Honor Heroes with a ZERO percent discount! ALSO- dont try to use your AAA discount..... Its more than the online price! Poor sales tactics, shady!
On July 20, 2024 I checked in online but still needed to check-in at the front desk. Are stay was from Saturday July 20th through Thursday July 25th. When checking in around 10 something at night the front desk guy he was rude his name was Brandon He check his computer and had a note pad and wrote down something stated let me check with my Manager to see if we have any clean rooms. Which didnt sound right to me. He went to go talk to her came back to the front desk without her, and said the rooms that we had Vista King Deluxe was no longer available we put down a 410.00 dollars deposit and we checked in online using their online check in system. I told him no you go and get your Manager we need to speak to her immediately. Anytime you have an issue Manager should of came out of her office in the first place. He was gone a good 15 to 20 minutes finally they both come out of the office she wasnt nice very condescending and disrespectful her name is Rosa She looked at the computer and said our rooms was not guaranteed which doesnt sound right here. This is how I view this they gave our King Deluxe rooms away. They upgraded someone but didnt want to tell the truth about this matter. She said we can change rooms tomorrow due to them being sold out and Rosa said she going to put notes in the system one room was in the Sierra Tower and the other in the Vista tower queen rooms not the King Deluxe rooms that we booked we are in two different towers. The next morning I went down to speak to the front desk and Lisa was the agent who was working very nice and friendly I informed her that Im here to exchange both rooms from last night check-in their were no notes in their system from night Manager Rosa didnt put any notes in the system I feel like she didnt care and thats part of your job duties to keep her team informed. Lisa looked in the system and stated their were no notes for both rooms. I said I need to talk to your manager now please she went to the back and got Rachel she was very nice and said how may I help you I informed her what happened last night. She immediately apologized and said let me change your rooms right now and stated wow you guys are not in the same Towers. We are spending close to 2 thousand and something dollars for Vista Deluxe King Rooms for 5 days. The manager Rosa didnt even care because she never put notes in the system to let the next Manager know what was going on and she lied to us and the other worker who was working with her. I will be taking this to the upper management I work for a 4.3 million dollars company and I work in customer service and I know how to treat people. And the way her staff treated myself and my family was uncalled for I have stayed at this Hotel 3 times already and I still feel like they really need to work on their cleaning staff and night staff and communication is the key.
Normally like staying here but the overall business practices have gone way down. They rarely have a mobile check-in line anymore, which means having to stand in the regular lengthy lines to check in. The comped rooms are no longer that and charged exorbitant resort fees of $45 a night. Lastly they’re to refund all deposits upon checkout but the charge still went through on the credit card, therefore having to deal with the hassle of getting it refunded. I hope they get it together again. Got “in touch” w the email provided in response, or course no one ever replied back?
Went to a Concert here for the first time and not having been here before for a concert it was difficult to locate the venue.Asked several employees of the hotel and other vendors and each one gave us either different directions or just did not know where the venue was.We looked at several different wall maps or interactive vidoes diaplays and they where useless.Finally....a movie usher was able to direct us to the proper level to go to and the exact location of the venue. He gets 5 🌟!Made it to the concert in time. But GSR really needs to set up their game on directions to the many different venues that are here for first timers like us.Ever hear of a human manned Kiosh? The concert was good and the staff at the venue where very helpful.Cheers
The best place about GSR is the location and there’s a lot to do at the hotel but honestly, we have been going there for 20 years and it’s gotten pretty bad. Very dirty. No respect from the staff. Had to beg for towels and the prices are completely insane. Absurd even. $25.00 for personal pizza and the room was NASTY DIRTY. Very expensive. Not clean. You can pay a lot less for the same experience at Circus Circus or the Silver Legacy.
We are currently staying at the GSR for a mini vacation. Such a great place. So much to do and entertainment under one roof. The self check in kiosk experience could have been better. The kiosk will give you key cards and tells you your room number but that’s it. Back in line to get info on where the elevators are to go to your room. So far, all the staff at the GSR have been awesome. The pool is by far the best.
A very luxurious hotel/casino that does’t have ‘quite close’ toilet seats and they wait until the day is half over to open the pool (10AM). No microwaves in the rooms. They charge extra for early check-in yet we had to call to get any towels in the room.
The GSR is the only place I stay at in Reno!Being one of the newer properties in Reno, the GSR is located away from the older, more sketchy hotels of Reno; it almost stands like an island. The staff is friendly and the mobile check-in process makes things easy. The property overall is clean and easy to navigate. The rooms have been remodeled and are spacious and well appointed. The only issues can be the elevator banks, they do get crowded. Also, the property could stand to install more EV charging stations.Overall, it’s a good hotel!
Came in for ACE training, and the rooms were amazing! Security thru the elevator we didnt have to worry about random people on our floor. Everyone was friendly, from the bell people and valet, too, when we checked in and out of the hotel. Only issue we had, we came in during the week and it was so hot outside, we tried dropping the AC in our room too cool us down, but the AC was on high fan and set at 64 but the room never went down below 73 the whole time we were there. We had to get a $40 box fan from Walmart to make the room comfortable. We even had the window vents open. It helped but didnt cool us down completely. Everywhere else in the hotel was cold and freezing except the rooms, it was muggy and hot throughout our stay. We were going too call too switch rooms but we were didnt want too have too pack up and relocate cause I believe we would have lost our amazing view of North Reno.
Overall the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is a pretty nice place that only suffers from a few minor issues. The first issue is if youre there Monday thru Thursday theres only one real place you can get food at after 11 pm and thats the Grand Cafe. While the food isnt bad there I never once had a wait of less than 20-25 minutes despite only being 1/3 full which tells me theyre understaffed. The second issue is that its away from everything else so if you plan on seeing the rest of Reno you either need to be prepared to pay for an Uber everywhere you go or rent a car. Other than that the place was great! Plenty of games and nice staff!
The room was nice and there was plenty to do in the hotel but valet broke my key fob, which cost a few hundred dollars to replace. Made an incident report and they did a fake investigation and claim they aren’t at fault, which is bs.
Visited for a night. Checked in around 4:30p and was given a room key. Went to room and it was trashed. Wasn’t cleaned until 8pm. Hair still on the pillows, mirror had fingerprints all over it, towel and soap in the shower, and no toilet paper. Was credited back resort fee and the gratuity. Wildly uncomfortable stay and walked away paying 200 bucks for the room. Wouldn’t happen at a Hilton or Marriott. You’d be given a refund. Normally GSR is wonderful. Just really tough weekend for them. Lots of helpful staff and nice people, just manager on the hotel side was not accommodating and housekeeping staff severely dropped the ball.
The Grand Sierra is a great hotel with many in-house amenities. Movie theater, bowling, pools, gambling, restaurants and so much more. Seasonal activities, concerts... you name it... theyve got it! Great perks and new and favorite slots. The rooms are nice... beds are a little hard for my liking... and the shower heads could use an upgrade. Overall... still a pretty great hotel with great deals.
The Jr suites are nice and roomy. Dont get a room on the first or second floor...A lot to do, good restaurants a large pool area, concerts and shows. Overall a great experience.
Uniquely on this trip we had to deal with front desk and security several times. They took a while to get in touch with and the front desk, security and their text service were a bit disconnected from each other. But security was great once put in action.
Original room, broken a/c. Couldnt be repaired for quite some time, so moved into another room. Hot, but told it would cool and a loud fan was brought in. Told entry card for new room was on its way up. After four hours and numerous assurances, never arrived. Room not cooling off at all. Told hotel having problems with a/c and they dont know which rooms are ok. Assistant manager took no responsibility, but offered a room that she assured was ok. It was not, so I went back to room with fan. Offered a quieter fan. Another loud one delivered. Ran the a/c at full blast all night with fan for half the night. It lowered the temperature by one degree. Great casino and public areas, terrible rooms and worse service. (I have stayed in probably hundreds of hotels/motels in my life. This had to be the very worst experience I have had, and I have been in two that had fires )
I love the GSR - we had a snag with the express check in machines, but it was resolved quickly. The room we had was STELLAR. I wish I could have stayed longer. The view, the bathroom, the PILLOWS! I travel quite often and this was probably my favorite hotel.✨ MY ONLY COMPLAINT ✨The pool closes at 8pm? The two small hot tubs are open until 10, but they’re jam packed with people. The normally inviting cabana seating was inaccessible because people in the jacuzzi threw their towels all over the seats so it’s not like you can sit and wait for people to leave since there’s nowhere to sit unless you want to sit on / next to people’s belongings. This was incredibly disappointing.
Very nice hotel. The rooms are clean. The elevator can get chaotic and backed up. There are lots to do in this resort with reasonable pricing. We called for room service, but they never perform room service.
Didnt rate service bc we didnt use any services. I was sick so I stayed in the room. It was beautiful. The whole building was very nice. Didnt care for the smoking.
Overpriced for such an old hotel. The rooms are stuffy and smoke from the casino can be smelled from the 4th floor hallway. Our air wasnt blowing well and the room was stuffy so we checked the air filter and it definitely had not been changed in a long time. One of the bulbs was burnt out in the bathroom and the room itself isnt very well lit so I had to do my makeup with a tiny mirror by the window. The shower drain was clogged and my kid found a pill on the floor near the bed. The pool is ok but the lounge chairs need new pads badly. So definitely not worth the price they charge in my opinion. The staff are friendly and we had great service at the Grand cafe our first evening.
I would avoid this hotel around major holidays.....day passes when your occ is high is horrible for your guestsWe decided to take a quick trip for the 4th as we have gone and enjoyed GSR in the past. This trip was horrible, the service was terrible, the waits were extremely long and they ran out of food at the pool due to overselling with day passes. I was there for 2 nights, and I walked by trash near the elevator both days. I believe they were stretched thin and unable to accommodate the guests there for the day or staying in the hotel. As I stated above, I have stayed here and enjoyed it, but this trip was awful. Before writing this review, I did attempt to reach out to the GM 3 times with no response because I wanted to understand what happened over those days.
I’ve stayed here multiple times before , last time was early July 2024. I’m a truck driver and they no longer allow tractor trailers on the property. They expect you to leave your trailer unsecured off site if you decide to stay. Their policy is ridiculous as they have acres of parking available. Their customer service is atrocious as it took 20 minutes on hold to get a hold of someone on the phone. Truck drivers aren’t welcomed at the Grand Sierra Resort. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
Great place to gamble. Very nice, very clean. All new machines for slots. Plenty of food options and a Starbucks for coffee. We did not stay at GSR but the casino and shops area is top notch.
I just came by to look around. I felt like it needed to be updated in some areas. This is a very large casino with a large pool and plenty of shops. Also round table pizza is here, port of subs. And game rooms and a small gift shop. The buffet is about $55 per person 😋 a lot of walking and plenty of parking.
Close to scheels and the minor league park. Great parking and overall the casino is pretty clean. Not great custodial as all the trash cans are full, and the restrooms usually need attention, but the casino itself is well kept.
Worst stay ever. Stayed in room 425 and it had horrible view. We were asked it we wanted a higher floor at first, but that room was taken. So we got stuck with this horrible room. Room next to us had 5 kids staying in there. From the sounds of it no adult was present and they were banging on our wall and door that splits the rooms. The very next morning the guy cleaning room 423 woke us up early from him mopping the floor. Banging the mop side to side hitting the walls. We did not even stay the second night cause the stay from first night was that bad. And the beds are horrible, you sink into mattress bad. Wont be staying here or recommending this place to anyone. Lovely view of roof.
Close to the airport and they do have a shuttle which is very convenient if flying. I didnt get offered a drink the whole time I was on the casino floor which I spent about 6 hours playing altogether. The rooms are luxurious and the view beautiful but I do question the mirrors and an outlet which may or may not contain some sort of surveillance devices...
Not the same GSR I stayed in a few years ago. Its gone down hill fast. The karts are gone, says permanently closed. Kids running loose all over the casino without parents, pretty much a free for all. Not much for dancing. The rooms werent as clean and didnt have towels. Took about an hour to get towels. If you do stay get the top floor so you dont have to hear all the jungle gyms above you. All in all I probably wouldnt stay again.
I told the server right when i sat down i wanted something gluten free and he replied almost nothing and he said the ceasar salad with no croutons and so im looking all over the menu and he doesnt say anything and i look at him and then i look back at the menu and i say i dont see any salads at all. He responds real curt and snobby maybe if you turned it over and IM REAL SORRY I DIDNT RECOGNIZE THE OTHER SIDE HAD MORE MENU!!! GEEZE
This was one of the most horrible stays Ive ever had in a hotel casino. First off it was Mothers Day Weekend. When we reserved the room we requested a bathtub as I have severe back issues. When we checked in we found that we were not given a room with a bath tub. When I called down to ask I was told that they were all booked up and there was not a bathtub available. Then the room looked cleaned at first glance but there was hair in the shower on the walls and floor. Counters were sticky. We went to bed that night thinking that the weekend would get better. Little did we know. We got up and went downstairs the next morning to enjoy the casino. When we got back up to the room we find that the maids have came and made our bedand cleaned up our room. We find that they helped them self to our chips that were sitting on the counter and $100 in 20s out of my wallet. We quickly made a report and was told we would have to wait to talk to risk management. Well risk management took over a week to respond and when they did they basically said that the Grand Sierra was not liable for what I said happened. So basically they said I was a liar and this didnt happen. This completely ruined my mothers Day weekend. I was so upset that I didnt want to eat or go out. I expecially didnt want to spend another $ at that casino. All I wanted to do was go home. And I definitely didnt feel safe leaving anything in the room.. I am so upset on how I was treated through our this whole ordeal. I have still never actually been contacted in person I just received emails. Im definitely not understanding how the housekeeping took stuff out of my room and the Grand Sierra is not responsible. This could have been so much worse. This is all over $140 when in all actuality would have spent 10 times more than that had we been having a good time and treated right at The Grand Sierra. This completely ruined my Mothers Day weekend. I will never spend another dime in this hotel. And I will never stay there again, which is unfortunate because they have a great musical lineup for concerts.
The hotel its self is a very nice hotel, the elevator system is terrible! We were on the 19th floor and the elevators were not going down, they kept coming up and were too full to ride up and then back down again. I called the frost desk and advised them that myself and my family, (husband, 5 yo, 6months old, and mother in law) along with other multiple guests on this floor a few who had been waiting for more than 10 minutes for an elevator, the gentleman at the front desk who took my call was very nice and apologized for it an said he would call maintenance, not thinking of the service elevator at the time I called back an the same gentleman answered and I asked about the service elevator, he advised me that was his next call to see if they could get it authorized as he new we had small children and multiple other people were waiting and he had just called maintenance, so he patched me through to security and I spoke with a lady named Trish. Trish was very rude, I advised her of the situation and that we had small children and had a dinner reservation for 5:30. Trish then advised me that there was nothing that they could do to help my family or the other guests as maintenance had already been called. My family and I ended up walking down 16 flights of stairs. After returning from our dinner we were informed from the other guests that was on the floor with us, that they had sent up a gentleman to escort other guests on the service elevator. I spoke with the hotel manager and she was also very nice and apologized for Trish being rude. GSR, please get more customer service training for your employees that need it!
I was trying to write a good review but I just couldn’t. There was no life guards on standby, my eight year old daughter got hives from the body wash, and the costumer service was horrible and had no manners whatsoever!! Overall if you are planning on taking a vacation in reno in this hotel, I recommend rethinking your options.
Will definitely be coming back, stopped by on a work related trip. Had lunch, walked around. Casino and all its amenities, they also have a big outside pool which looked wonderful. Place was very nice, excellent customer service! A big plus for me was that they are dog friendly. Yay!!!
We thought the picture posted on Expedia made the room worth upgrading. Boy-o-boy were we wrong. The carpet was heavily stained, along with the bench at the foot of the bed. The mattresses are old and tend to lean to one side. The music at the pool was unusually loud and not our style and most of the food places were not open or closed early. To be honest, it was an expensive disappointment.
The rooms were great, but it was way too crowded and me and my family couldn’t enjoy anything. They also shouldn’t have put all of the bars and gambling on the ground floor where all the families come in. Too much smoke from the cigars people were smoking.
We celebrated our 45th anniversary over the 4th july weekend. The location, rooms, food choices, and services were first Class. In fact the facilities ranked with our Hard Rock Casinos in Florida. Very Satisfied! Return trip a must. By the way, the hotel website is outdated, does not match the Resort branding....needs a reset people!
Fun casino family friendly. Lots to do other than just gamble? The only downfall is that the cocktails take too long, and they dont listen to the orders that you get them. The steak house is highly overpriced. And we ended up going. To have japanese, which was way better.
Room was good however you couldnt lock the bathroom. Not a big deal since I was with people I trust but still really werid. The pool was disgusting tho theres like 50 gallons of chlorine in there. There was only one elevator working when we went because theyre trying this new thing where you choose your floor from outside the elevator which results in it taking five years because its confusing on how to use and just bad. So there was only one elevator where you pick from the inside so yeah. Overall didnt really get the resort treatment kinda disappointed. Tried to go bowling but it was closed for a veterans event which I understand but was still annoying. The golfing thing was surprisingly fun tho 😃. Oh yeah, theres a casino too but like gambling is cringe so yeah. There are escape rooms there and stuff but we didnt do them so yeah.
I booked a last minute getaway here on a 4th of July celebration, and had the best time in Reno...the staff was so overwhelmed with the Holiday, our room was not ready at check in. After an hour wait, a manager looked at the jr. suite I booked and went in the back and got permission and upgraded us to an even nicer suite. It was beautiful and comfortable for 5 days. The pool, the fireworks display and the room made for a great getaway on the 4th of July Holiday. Its a great location too if you want to visit the River Walk downtown, and surrounding restaurants. GSR has friendly staff, and outstanding service. I Won a couple hundred on some penny slots, so it was a very fun trip.
I absolutely love this place!! GSR is beautiful!! I love being here. They have the best staff the best slots and their high limit room is phenomenal. Wanna win big bucks? Stay at the GSR!! Great for golf, swimming, bowling, partying and living life in your own way!! I’ll always stay at GSR RENO NEVADA!
Arrived here after a 17 hour drive from Denver. Was greeted by an unfriendly person behind the counter. She told us the wrong way to get to our room bc she was distracted with something else, after asking someone the way to our room, we got there only for it to be occupied already! We went back down to the desk, waited in line again, where they didnt apologize, but just gave us another room. Went up to the new room where the keys did NOT work! At this point we were 45 minutes in the hotel without being able to get into a room. We went back down only for them to assign us another room bc the keys apparently werent working due to someone being in the second room we tried to get in to!! No one was friendly or apologetic during any of this.
Rooms are spacious. Bed & pillows are very comfortable and clean. Love the complementary waters shaving cream razors and even toothbrush & toothpaste oh and the toiletries. They even provide a blowdryer and minifridge. The only complaint we had was the water pressure. My husband tried to adjust the shower head, but we came to the conclusion that there wasnt enough water pressure. So they might want to change out the heads because they dont work like they should if there isnt enough pressure. And this is for GSR-loosen up your machines as a non gambler. I didnt observe not once any jackpot winners. But it seemed as though your attendees enjoyed the DJ more, and thats your crowd at a casino? We will return, but this time with the family as we did see an upgrade and more things to do for the kids! But the free fall is still down. Its been months since we were here and it was down then. We had a terrible view-we faced the side of the bldng so we didnt bother to open the curtains. Overall adjust the water pressure, loosen up the machines, and youll get a 5☆ on the next review! Check in/out was a breeze, too!
Hotel was ok, pool was not clean, went in hot tub instead. All of kid things on lower level were amazing. Bowling was good. First night bowling the lane kept malfunctioning second night lane was much better.
Starting from valet parking to reception, all crew members have the best customer service and attention to detail. Be sure to get a casino card to use it and start earning points towards free rooms, buffet, etc, the machines are not bad either.
Close to the airport and close to the office so the location is pretty darn good. The rooms had just been updated and we were upgraded as well. Very happy with the room, but some of the service at the restaurant and while at the slots was a little slow. It wasnt even that packed, but it seemed like we spent a lot of time waiting. I hate to say it, but they would have gotten more of our money if they had been a little more on time with stuff. The one downer for us was the fact that the entire hotel room floor smelled like marijuana. I dont care what you do in your personal time, but the fact that the entire hotel floor smelled like it was a little off-putting.We had some great views from our room and didnt even realize there was an ice skating rink until we saw it. I would definitely come back, but probably not gamble as much since part of that. Fun is getting drinks while you gamble. To wait for 15 minutes or more for a drink. Seemed a little excessive.
Ended up here after our flight was cancelled, but we didnt know how lucky we were. Were from Vegas; I didnt realize there were casinos so kid-friendly, haha. Our family had a blast staying there for two nights.
Hot Aug nights is usually the best here but this year the headliner cancelled for some reason and they substituted a band. Without telling the public. Not good Sat nights Aug 11 24.
Room was dirty and rude staff. You pay a lot of money for it to be ghetto. No microwaves in room you have to pay extra for one so I was told, even though you spend lots of money for a room for it to not be clean and when mentioned to staff it takes forever for them to do something about it. Used to be a great hotel now it’s just shady and seems they are lazy with the cleanliness. Made a noise complaint because we were trying to sleep and people running up and down the hall screaming, nothing was done about it. Only good thing was their restaurants downstairs to eat at which are expensive. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Overall service was TERRIBLE. When we arrived at the hotel and tried to check in, they were so overbooked that it took 30 minutes. The check in agent was in a back room and apparently he had to manually override the system. The entire elevator system sucked. There are 3 different sets depending on what floor your room is on. In order to go up, you can your room key and pick the floor, then they assign an elevator. Out of the 5 elevators in our section, only 3 were working. The actual elevator have no buttens, its very weird. This system has no concept of when an elevator is too full. It will just keep assigning people to the same one. I went on multiple elevators that where way too full for comfort. The elevator will only stop at floors that have been requested so its possible to get stuck. When we got to our rooms (we had 2) neither were double queens like we booked. They were both deluxe kings. While we appreciated the upgrade, when traveling with 4 people in one room, thats not going to work. We explored the room for a bit and noticed the couch had a pull out bed. But that was broken. We called the front desk and they gave us a $25 credit and said they could send a free rollaway bed. Called the front desk at 9:20pm, after waiting over an hour we just went to bed. At 12 they called the room and asked if we still wanted the bed. Umm yeah, they still didnt come till 20 minutes later. Valet is not great but there is a ton of free parking very close so its not a big deal. Hotel was close to everything. We wont be back but it was finem
This place has the worst incidental holds !! How is 50 dollars a night okay... how is it okay to charge me more for incidentals than the entire room charge. Thats insane to me. Oh and the pet policy changing after alllll these years being the same is a real inconvenience! The new owners are 100% only about profit, nor does it looks like the care about there guest and employees !!
They sponsor baseball tournaments that require you to stay at the hotel. The baseball tournaments have games that start at 8AM. ON THE SAME NIGHT they host concerts that happen right outside your window until 11pm. When I call and ask for any type of compensation off the absorbinant price they charge Im offered ear plugs. No customer service, they dont care about kids and force you to stay there
Always a good time coming to the GSR! Great shows great food and fun times all around. We will most certainly continue to come here time in and time out for quality entertainment that book here. It’s always nice to get away for a weekend and spend time here.
Upon check in, a phone number and QR code is given for text messages to be sent for any issues, requests or questions. I sent messages to this number requesting extra towels. Received a response of “someone will be there shortly”. About an hour and a half later I asked again. This time I received the response “within 45 minutes”. Almost two hours later someone finally arrived. I adjusted my schedule for the day to accommodate this. Had an issue with a lamp that was broken and appearing to be very dangerous, sent the text about this explaining the safety issue, they said “within 45 minutes”. Five hours later someone finally arrives. The WiFi is extremely slow, YouTube has consistent problems loading a video. The elevator system is ridiculous. Expect to wait 5-7 minutes every time an elevator is needed. This allowed a lot of time to get to know other hotel guests and hearing all the problems they were having with the internet also. At one point we had to ride in the service elevator because.Requested some compensation from the front desk manager. The response was “no, sorry”. Overall a pretty bad experience here.
The room was clean. Mattress and pillows were firm. Theres a lot to do for the whole family. We gambled, played Bingo, & bowled. We only dined at the Sports Bar. The food was very good and served in large, sharable portions. The resort was also in a convenient location. We would stay here again.
DO NOT STAY HERE!! What they promote all inclusive amenities is a lie!! The pool was closed, the ice skating rink was closed, the massage persons were all attending a convention and the associates are rude!! We were charged a resort fee after we left!! Our room was prepaid and we had no car either. How can you charge extra when what you advertise is a lie. This is all deceptive advertising. We also got charged a room cleaning fee for every day when we only received towels once. Talking to a manager was fruitless. There is absolutely zero customer service. And the whole casino is smoking. Not an area for non smokers. This is the worst destination I’ve ever been to😡
Grand Sierra is our go to Reno resort. Especially when traveling with our family. Everything in terms of entertainment and amenities is available on site from pool to restaurants, bowling and even a movie theatre. Were always satisfied when we leave.
Didnt stay in a room this time. Had dinner at Johnny Rockets. Our server Tina was awesome. Food very good.
Room was fairly good. It was clean but our toilet seat was not the right size as the bowl. It seems an easy fix so I have no idea why they would replace the wrong size seat?I was comped 2 nights by email, when I called they said the room for that was unavailable but the next one up was available at an additional costs. When i checked their website the “comped” room was available. Upon check-in I addressed this issue and it’s an “upsell” tactic. So the free rooms aren’t free really.A few slot machines were out of service or not working properly.I’d say this resort isn’t what it use to be.
My favorite casino here in the Reno area. I stay & gamble here more than any other resort in the city. The pool area fun & has a smaller 2nd pool for 21+ with an extra bar. The rooms are clean whenever I stay & have never had an issue.
We have stayed at GSR many times and each time the experience gets worse and worse. Our first experience was fantastic, but over the past 7 months, it has steadily declined.Last night, it took forever to check (hire more reception staff), the elevators had lines into the hallway just to get to the rooms, and our room…..ugh.We upgraded to a King Deluxe. When we got into our room we noticed that the a/c wasn’t working properly. Called down and was assured that someone would run up and fix it. OK cool, we had reservations, so we left. Get back a couple hours later and the room is still hot. Called down again, “oh he is on his way”. We leave for dinner. Come back (a little tipsy) and there is a very loud box fan in the room.We get into pj’s and settle in, thinking the fan was to help cool the room down while the a/c kicked in. Nope! The a/c was never fixed. They just stuck a very loud VERY undersized box fan in our suite and called it good. We soon realized that the room STILL wasn’t cooling off. Called down again. Initially told “hotel is sold out sorry”, so we asked for a discount on the room, put on eternal hold to eventually be told “no discount, but we can move you to a lesser room 6 floors away” while we paid for an upgraded room, we’re already in pj’s, and had ordered a movie. Also, 2 lights in the room didn’t work, another lamp was leaning weirdly, and the tv was crooked on the wall. Just not worth what we spent. We won’t be staying here again. Will try the Atlantis or Peppermill next.p.s. The buffet at GSR is TERRIBLE. Seriously not just bad, but kinda gross too. If you want a good buffet go to the Atlantis.
The hotel was disapointing. When i arrived, there was a big line for the checkin. And all the days i was there, i realized there was always a line for the checkin and checkout. The services at the reception, are not good, if you need them to keep your suitcase before or after you leave the room, it is difficult to find or speak with the staff, they are always in a hurry and just leave you there waiting. The price is another thing to pay attention. The room is 110$ but there is 45$ for the resort fee, there is more housekeeping gratuity 2, the tourism fee 2, and a tax of 15$. The service room is annoying. I used to spend out the whole morning, but when I arrived after the lunch, just to keep in the room for 15 minutes, the room service people that hadnt cleaned my room the entire morning, just knock the door to clear the room, so since I was in the room, they decide you dont want them to clean it. They do it at any time you arrive to the room, the entire week was like this, when i came to room between 10am to 14 pm, imediatelly they knock the door to clean the room. If you are going to this hotel to relax, for me it had the oposite effect.
This place has so much to do other than gambling like the driving range. Awesome drinks and the rooms are so nice beds are comfortable and pillows are huge. The elevator buttons were not ideal everyone was a little confused by them but not bad. Shower had a huge rainfall feature. Pool and hot tubs were very nice. Bartenders were all very good at their jobs because the drinks are delicious and conversation can be made to feel welcome that is always a plus. Will definitely be looking forward to returning for another visit.
My family and I recently stayed the Grand Sierra Resort. In our room there were several items and issues that we ran into.1. There was a hole in the floor under the carpet by the bed. I found this by stepping in it and twisting my ankle.2. In the bathroom; the light switch panel was off the wall. Considering it’s in the bathroom and moisture is abound; this is big safety hazard.3. In the shower; the showerhead that you can personally remove did not work at all.4. In the shower; the nozzle that turns the water on & off (plus controls water temperature) was not securely installed and simply did not stay in position. You had to take a scolding hot shower or cold.5. The refrigerator did not work. The food we had in there just rotted overnight. Water bottles and soda were just warm.6. Pillow Stains on almost all pillows (some look like biological fluids, blood, etc)7. A HUGE couch stain of either a lot of blood, coffee, or red kool aid under the cushions.8. The drawers in the nightstand were not securely installed. You would open the drawer and it would just collapse.9. The drawers that secure the safe and fridge were broken. The right cabinet when pulled open would not close. You had to lift the cabinet door up and then attempt to close the door.We were so excited and looked forward to this stay. We loved what we saw online when we booked the reservation. I have to say that we were very disappointed with all of the issues that we encountered; especially for the amount we paid for the room. You want to get your moneys worth in every life experience and this room at the GSR simply failed. We contacted the GSR, emailed them all of these issues, and they did not even get back to us.
It was my anniversary and definitely not the place to spend it! Kids ransacked all the areas for entertainment. To top it off we had a domestic dispute in the room next to us. We called front desk and the option was to move us out to a 2 bed queen room “on our day”! I went down at 4 am to complain about our stay and how terrible the bed was that made my back and hip sore. Service finally came through and upgraded us to a suite. The bed was crap but room was nice. I unfortunately checked out early.Steak house was goodAnd cafe was convenient, try the cheesecakesI really wish this place worked for us. In all honesty they should have at least charged me half price.
As always the restaurants and casino were outstanding but our room in the Vista Tower was not. In addition, GSR is trying out a new elevator service to access your rooms in this tower and it is abominable. Everyone who used it complained. You need to flash your room key to order an elevator to your floor. There are eight elevators servicing this tower and you can only use the one ordered. This led to long waits and frustration as you watched other elevators open but were unable to use them.
I always stay at the grand Sierra but it has become terrible. I spend 6k-7k over a 4-5 day period and always get a suite. This trip the suite doors wouldn’t open. After waiting over an hour an “engineer” with a hammer opened it. The last trip the suite air conditioner didn’t work for a day. I mainly sports bet and play craps I’m not going to tell you about the eye making a “mistake” on one of my trips but the pit bosses don’t care you can’t get on the craps table and the even though there are open spots. It’s gone down hill. I used to love it but I’m going to be headed to Atlantis or peppermill. When you can’t play craps because people want to hangout even though the workers at the table know you and say hello it’s bad. Also the restaurants eh not going to say anymore just disappointing I used to love this place and told my friends and fam this was the best place but things change. Avoid it, plenty of regulars I have talked to say the same thing. They don’t care about the people who spend money there only the people washing money
During our recent stay at GSR, we found that there was no handicapped parking available.I spoke to two members of the hotel and security management team and both of them offered no solution, and brushed me off.GSR is in gross violation of the ADA act by not providing adequate handicapped parking. (there was a lot with a few spaces, however that lot was blocked off.)A member of the valet team offered us a spot in the hotels VIP lot, however that lot is not equipped with a wheelchair ramp. I had to use a driveway to get up to the entrance, and was nearly hit twice by cars that did not see me.I will not recommend the Grand Sierra to any of my friends or family and we will not be returning.
Clean rooms, luxury marble tiled bathrooms, fancy faucets, regular toilets. They have updated their elevator system so now when you need to go to a room in the tower you press the floor that you wish to go to its on the outside of the elevator and it assigns you an elevator that will be coming shortly and you get on it and takes you to the floor there are no buttons on the inside of the elevator there are little tiny screens to tell you what floor youre headed to and all that the floors that trip has been programmed to stop at you must have a room key to get on an elevator after pressing your desired floor you have to put your key to the sensor and that will allow you onto the elevator anyone who does not have a key will get stuck on the floor and then just messed up because theres no way to get to another floor unless you have a key so guests of guests need to be escorted everywhere the only floor that you dont need a key form if youre up on the upper floors to get off on is the C floor which is the ground floor that houses the casino and registration and restaurants and such if guests of guests have other people they know that are on other floors they will need to be escorted to the other peoples rooms because without a key but just cannot go Florida to play some gas and go without a key is the casino floor I find this highly disturbing that there are no controls on the inside of the elevator there are a bunch of lights and but not talking about seismic activity in slow elevators during earthquakes I guess they light up if the building is experiencing an earthquake. As far as gambling was concerned at this casino I had a hard time losing especially after I was insert a new bill into the machine I would always get like a bonus round with the maximum number of free spins I went in with $100 and came out with 300 and wouldnt come out with a lot more had I not been tired and kept falling asleep at the machine because the bonus things were long arduous and tedious and time consuming but winning free money is greatDownstairs on the lower lower lower lower lower level theres a restaurant called Johnny Rocket they have the best hamburgers in town at the moment you can also get hot dogs and chicken salads but thats not the only thing that stands out about them, its the authentic theme of the 1950s, from the dishes and to the uniforms the artwork on the walls the tables and chairs even the floor itself was in 1950s theme they used to wear in 1950s like uniforms back in the day but apparently theyve updated and become more modernized so everybody looks quite dapperAnd of course the Hotel Casino staff was extremely friendly, helpful and ready to jump at a moments notice to get whatever you needed. They have acres and Acres of free parking surrounding the building as well as one of the largest pools area Ive ever seen in a hotel casino the pools had hot tubs dotting the outside and around the pool there is a couple of alcoholic bar where you can buy liquor to lounge around with at the side of the poolThey have a really cool fully equipped Business Center or you can do things on the computer and see email printers even have laminating machines that you need to use to get something laminatedAnother thing I can say about our registration check in was there was a huge long line on a Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. however they did not lead people to stand in line for long as a matter of fact they had staff members to man the registration desk and there was about 15 of them dealing with this line that was really super long it took no longer than 10 minutes to get through a line that would look like it took 2 hours overall I give this place 5 Stars cuz its really great hotel casino to stay and party and gamble on Modern machines with really high payoutsAnother thing that stands out to my memory is all the employees no matter what department they worked in if you thank them they would always end the conversation with of course
I worked at the Grand Sierra 3 years ago. I worked really hard, I was a good employee. Now, 3 years later, I have a permanent spinal cord injury I suffered in San Francisco on a bus, and am trying to find work. Im up for a job, and the hiring manager told me my former managers at the Grand Sierra are giving her the runaround. Make sure you understand this place, and how they treat their former employees
Great place to stay. Nice rooms. Plenty of things to do in the building, no need to leave for food or entertainment. Love staying here. When you ask for non smoking room, you get a room that DOESNT smell like an ashtray.
The service here is outstanding as usual the entire facility itself. There is something for everyone which includes families with kids. The service though is great from the eating places toThe housekeeping.
I like this hotel because it is somewhat out of the way of downtown Reno. I hate most casinos due to the smell of cigarettes, but the GSR does a good job of minimizing the smell. It was barely noticeable. I didnt play, but I did walk the casino floor, and it was clean with lots of table games and slots to play. The staff was friendly, and the drink girls were easy to find. We ate the restaurant inside the casino Chickies and Petes, it was good, not great. The service was good, and the prices are what you would expect inside a casino. We got coffee at the Starbucks and pastries at the little shop next store to the Starbucks, which were delicious. I recommend the Danish. The room was clean and prepared for us. There were some stains on a couple of pieces of furniture, but nothing that would make you want another room or gross you out. It just looked like spilled drinks. The bed was comfortable, and the TV worked just fine. We were woken up at about 3am by our neighbors who were talking pretty loud, but that is what happens in Hotel/Casinos, so we cant complain too much. I used their gym, which was well equipped and clean. Cant ask for much more. We had a great stay at GSR and will definitely go back.
This is the second time I have gone with family. Easy to get around town, but really didn’t need to leave. Lots to do right there, arcade, bowling, swimming and great food.
Price was average for a hotel of this type in this area. There are additional fees attached to the hotel room base cost. Staff was neither friendly or unfriendly. Hotel was cute and cleanish. Fridge still had food in it from previous guest. Beds were ok. Not the best and not the worst. Good location for food and to avoid the traffic for the most part. Overall I will stay here again probably.
A bit expensive for a room with pretty major bed divots. They charge a ridiculously high resort fee - and then charge guests to attend their weekly reggae music at the pool. What is the resort fee for? Dont know as other places dont charge for the pool or wifi. I would look elsewhere...
The good: Walking in was grand & gorgeous. The casino was super cool. I loved how much there was to do for the kids. The shower was luxurious & I never wanted to get out. The gym was gorgeous. Our view from the 15th floor was pretty cool & overall it was a good experience. When I lost my wallet it was very quickly found & I am super grateful for that. The not so good: I wouldn’t say the worst service, but definitely not good service. Whether it was the front desk, Jamba Juice, or the Starbucks, it felt like every worker didn’t want to be there, didn’t want to serve you & would continue their casual conversations with other workers even when you were standing there waiting. Brandon at security had a real bad attitude & at what point said “whatever” when we were talking about something. As a Canadian who has worked in customer service for 10 years, it was disappointing to be talked to the way he did.
Went to see Bruce Hornsby. As a frequent concert attendee, I was happy that there wasnt any physical obstacles to seeing the show. However, I was disappointed by the lighting and sound quality.Going to attend another show here in November (Joe Bonamassa) and hoping that they will bring their own systems. I know his crew and him and know that they tour with all of their own gear and systems. I know they will recognize the deficiencies and will rectify them if possible. If it isnt better, I wont return and opt to see all my shows elsewhere, where sound and lighting are done properly
BEWARE!!! If you book a stay here, you may be charged an extra $50 per night for hidden resort fees when you check in. If it seems like you are getting a good deal on your room, its probably too good to be true...Update: I spoke with customer service, and they just told me that thats the way it is. Third parties are not able to collect the resort fee so if you book through a third party, the GSR will collect this resort fee when you arrive. For me, the front desk associate told me that they needed my credit card for the deposit, and then just kept my deposit to cover the resort fee.
I frequent gsr a lot and every time I get a room its different but in a good way there designer for the place did a great job Im always happy there
Terrible elevator system. I asked mgmt to call me to discuss the elevators and my call went unanswered. I left the next day. It took me 39 minutes to get to my room on the 17th floor and my $30 personal pizza that I purchased in their overpriced Roundtable Pizza was cold by the time I arrived back at my room. Management at this hotel is horrible and I will never return.
We have stayed at plenty of Casino resorts before in multiple, different states. We were very disappointed in this resort and would never go back.First off, why would a pool close at 7pm every night? Especially a kid friendly resort.Second, there was a t- shirt and bottle of water left in our room which made us feel like the room was not clean well or cleaned at all.Third, Our Rooms air was not working and stuck at 78 degrees all night/ day.The first night we arrived I called the front desk and they sent someone up for maintenance to take a look at the air/ thermostat. Also said sorry about the items left in the room it was cleaned. The maintenance guy arrived and said there was no air filter so he added one to help with the air flow. He then said we should call the front desk for a box fan because it may only take the temperature down a couple degrees. That we were the third room so far tonight that needed to request a box fan.It was 11:30pm and I called the desk and told them what the maintenance guy said. I said I did not want a box fan and to switch rooms. They sent me a box fan instead which helped nothing. It was then Midnight by the time we got the fan and I was too exhausted to go downstairs and argue in person. Also my daughter had her regionals gymnastics competition at the resort the next morning.By the next morning the entire family one by one started getting sick. Not sure if it was food poisoning for a stomach bug but we couldn’t be in a hot room anymore. We tried to switch again and they said they couldn’t.We had no choice but to stay one more night at the hotel because we were too sick to drive back five hours home.Sunday came and we left a day earlier than we booked. All the front desk did was give us our night we did not end up staying for free. I would have expected a discount for the awful service and in a room with no air. We paid $796 for 2 nights in a 78 degree room with a box fan. That is unacceptable. We were looking forward to a vacation away for a weekend relaxing and my daughter having a great competition. Instead money was wasted. We probably would have been better off at the Hampton Inn.If the resort would have just switched us room’s everything would have been better and no issues. They never said why they couldn’t switch us rooms, but if we were the third room that needed a box fan I am assuming there were multiple rooms with the issue. So then we should have been given some sort of discount or refund for the hassle.
We just stayed here at the GSR hotel last weekend and it was the best time. They have many things to keep you busy at the hotel itself, Escape Rooms, VR games, golf, bowling, and many others. The staff was super helpful and great customer service. Would definitely stay here again.
I came to the Grand Sierra after initially having rented a private studio that turned out awful. My mother-in-law, who has been a loyal GSR rewards member for years, recommended GSR for a relaxing and safe stay.I was able to get checked in fairly easy, the kiosk wouldnt allow me to do a mobile check-in, but it was pretty quick to get to a person at that time. I was able to get to my room without issue on night 1.Day 2: Wake up and go grab Starbucks from downstairs. Its busy but no problem. I attempt to return to my room (14th floor), and my key wont work in the elevator. Go to the front desk and wait about 20 minutes to speak to a person, and they reprogram my keys. I go back to the elevator, and it still doesnt work. I go back to the line and wait - its busy. Im hoping to catch the eye of the employee who helped, but no such luck. 35 more mins. I explain what happened. They give me a NEW set of keys, and I head back to the elevator. It doesnt work, again. I go back and just go to the counter- I explained that Ive been waiting to get back to my room for an hour now. She tells me she will call security to let me in. 15 minutes, later a man comes, he doesnt know what is going on he then asks me for my ID I explain Im locked out and simply went to get my coffee and was trying to start my day. He escorts me to the elevator and prompts me to try my key. IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. He uses his. We get to the 14th floor, and we get to my room. He prompts me to use my key again. I explain it hasnt worked, but I obliged and shocker - it doesnt work. He lets me in and checks my ID. He leaves, and I still have no keys. I get ready and take off for the afternoon to get a bite to eat and head back to chill in my room before I go to the pool.I walk back in and realize - no key - immediately Im annoyed. Who wouldnt be? So I see the sign pointed at a service window that says reprint key, so I wait for 20 minutes. The GSR employee then asks me if I just got in the line I said no, I saw the sign and my key isnt working she merely points and says you will have to go into that line - there is a zig-zag waiting to be helped. At this point, Im furious. My food is getting cold, and now I move with the herd waiting for service. 48 minutes later , I watched this same GSR rep assist 5 different people who just walked up behind me without issue. I was flabbergasted, to be honest. Just then, I feel what every womans worst nightmare might be - my tampon is full. I can feel the slow leak beginning, and Im still in this line. Its my turn, and the open lane has no employee...so I stop someone and say, Can someone, PLEASE? I explain for the 6th time that my keys have not worked, and he tells me the elevator is having tech issues - mind you, Ive obviously seen people going to my floor and such. He says he will call security to let me in...meanwhile I feel the gush happen and frantically as the check-ins were full of people and my light colored pants were doing zero favors I ask how much longer to which the GSR rep responded weve called as soon as possible. At this point, I am in tears, back to the column and slowing dying inside, mortified, and feeling the feminine issue really being an issue. Sweating, I look over across the counter and ask the female manager to PLEASE do something I NEED to go to my room. She brushes me off. Other guests are asking me if I am OK as my tears soak my face. I again ask the male employee he goes to get a manager behind the door who has ZERO empathy and has a dead stare as I demand to be let into my room. I stood there for another 30 mins as my pants filled. Finally, when Peter arrived from security, again, no one explained the situation to him. He then went to go talk to the manager behind the door, and again, I was left to wait while all dignity flew out the door. Peter was empathic. He politely guided me through the security elevator to avoid further humiliation. They waived a $45 charge, and not once did anyone ever apologize.Day 3: I couldnt leave faster.
This location is great for the entire Family. During winter they have an ice skating rink. They have bowling, movie theater, small arcade, outdoor golf driving range, kids jungle gym, pizza, burgers, and lots of other places to eat. Staff was very friendly. Some room still not updated. Indoor Starbucks you can use your mobile app to oder ahead on.
Not sure what the fuss was about?? The room wasnt clean past first glance. Crud in the corners. Wait staff was rude beyond belief. One of there employees yelled at me for not gambling enough or something, couldnt really understand what he was saying just the inflection of his voice. Totally weirded me out. I tried to address the situation with Amber Addison in management and was disappointed how she continued to interrupt me and create a frustrating situation as I was trying to explain the situation. Sad to see how bad the level of professionalism theyre ok with.
I havent been here in years. Took the family to boreals for snow day and decided to stay here for three days. The rooms were dirty, and towels had stains and pubic hairs. Dresser was tilted. Cups had lipstick. If you have a previous reward card, good luck creating a login. No one can help you. Most of the workers were rude, like they didnt want to work here.
Its great for a place to work off a thorough stuffing at a Chinese buffet down the road ($21) vs GSRs buffet ($50). Mostly female bartenders...I can bet 99% of them never did a day of barbacking. Just walk in cute and get the job. Oops! Showing my age.I like the remodel of the bowling. Very nice.
Disappointed for the first time. I checked out early in the morning .. sleep only 3hours smh…It’s not worth it to drive and travel 2 and half hours drive from my place. I supposed to have a Summit two queen bed room but instead I got 1 bed only , I’m so sad . Service for water bottles and personal needs arrived to our room 835 like 45minutes . So tired waiting. Exhausted feeling plus disappointment. I am not happy for this 1 bed room only usually got 2 bedrooms all the time . It is too far away also from the elevator. I don’t think I’m going to come back again , cannot recommend to anyone.
Came into town for my daughters gymnastics competition and enjoyed our stay there. Friendly service, staff was nice and helpful, rooms were clean, the Pavillion Venue was perfect to host the competition with the amount of teams that attended, they had a kid-friendly level with restaurants that separated the casino and smoke...all in all, it was a good experience. We will return another time to stay!
Overall, a great experience. The place can use some more fun tables like crapps and roulette.Great that they have a bowling alley, pool, escape room etc. and round table pizza
Room was fantastic and the restaurants were great. I am sure the gambling is good too, but not a gambler.😁 They could of had more employees manning the check in.
Pretty sketch area, specifically the perimeter of their property, saturated in litter, and the construction dump site next to the river... Which surely is not toxic (smh). The whole area reeks of garbage and human waste... But based on the aluminum flowers from 1962 the planted ... instead of environmentally beneficial live plants, I am guessing that GSR is not too worried about the grounds... or thier general outward appearance...
Stayed here early last week for my birthday. Had an amazing experience. Front desk staff was amazing and helpful. Rewards desk also amazing. Food was outstanding at uno mas and chickie and Pete’s was good as well. Slots weren’t too good to my grandparents but I had some good hits and a lot of fun at the tables. Had Tina I think her name was at multiple tables and she always had good energy. Kinda hate the 6-5 blackjack but there was only one of those tables. Minimums weren’t bad either. 10-15 depending on game and time of day. Overall had an awesome birthday at GSR
Its too big and too corporate. From the check in process to the service. But the rooms are really nice and the price is right, and the employees that havent had their souls crushed are super nice.
I have stayed in executive suites in the GSR a handful of times for business and had a decent experience. So I decided to treat my pregnant wife with a birthday prenatal massage and stay in the executive suites at the GSR. Unfortunately I have to say this experience was far from executive treatment. From the get go there were complications with the reservation at check in. I showed up early into town (after 3pm) on a sooner than expected flight back for business. So I went to the “resort” to make sure she would have a smooth check-in, and that her massage would not have any issues. Suffice it to say, she was nearly unable to check in, and got double charged for the massage that was prepaid for. Once we get up to the room, everything seemed fine on the surface, but come to find out the there were several underlying amenity issues. We were planning on having dinner at the steakhouse, so we were anticipating leftovers. Luckily we had realized the fridge in the room was not functional. So, we had called the front desk and they said they would replace it while we were out to dinner. Upon our return, we had found an extra fridge unplugged and directly adjacent to the bed. After being transferred for the 3rd time to the same extension I had called initially, we were told they would send someone up to take care of it. No one showed up so I dragged it out and o the hallway. Longer story short, poor service poor amenities and poor execution for exorbitant prices. Highly suggest spending your money anywhere else with greater customer response and care.
We went to the Grand Sierra to meet up with family and go to see the Tedeschi trucks band. The show was great!! They are AMAZING!!! the hotel is very nice, we liked the security features of the elevator and strangers not being able to get to the room floors, the rooms and very large and beautifully decorated, only issue we had was the tv remote did not work as it needed batteries, but we were not in the room long enough for it to matter to us.. we also hasd a fantastic dinner at the steak house, Charlie palmers.. food was wonderful and the service was superb 👌. I had the southwestern chicken dish witch was fantastic.. also my husband is not a fan of hotels and travel, but he said this is a nice hotel and he will come back again.. so it really is a nice place if he said that..
They have all kinds of hidden fees $45 resort fee, 2$ visitng fee for out of towners ,think that what she called it. Housekeeping fees when you leave. Ate at restaurant inside and my bill was 36 when I looked at my credit card 37$ was charged twice to it plus the 36. When i went down stairs the girl had no idea and had to get a manager. He couldnt figure it out n said if the charge stays on your bill call my credit card and dispute it. He gave me his name and # for him to talk to bank
Avoid this mismanaged Hell Hole!Entire place smells like a combination of human excrement and Pot smoke. Our room was disgustingly filthy - had NOT been cleaned from previous inhabitant!Waited 30 mins, moved to different room - smoke alarm was chirping every 30 seconds.Because the smell was nauseating my whole family - we decided to check out. They were nice enough to give us a refund (supposedly - hasn’t hit my bank acct yet).I will never go back to this hell hole.
Hi,My name is Liz and I am a local here in Reno born and raised. I just wanted to give a huge praise to some of the amazing employees at the bowling alley. Lucus and Archer have been amazing! They are always smiling have a wonderful attitude and take great care of our group when we come in and bowl. The management has always been just as wonderful to us! Rebecca and Bob. They are so very helpful, wonderfully accommodating and so friendly to us when we come in. We feel so welcome and love coming there because of them. Spencer at the pro shop has been an absolute professional and is extremely knowledgeable with bowling and the different kinds of bowling balls and knows how to drill them correctly. He takes great care of us and we are very happy with his work. The young woman at the Grill food court in the bowling alley from Iraq is also wonderful! She is always so sweet and helpful and the food is made fast and is delicious! I wish I knew everyone’s name because all the employees have been amazing to us and I can’t say enough great things about them! I love coming there! We are customers for life! We feel right at home and it is because they have amazing staff! Thank you for all you guys do for us! We are so appreciative!
Absolutely love this place been going Here since 2019 and just wanted to say Jeane at the front desk is super helpful and kind. She has such great customer service, definitely the nicest person weve met in Reno. If youre going to GSR ask to make Reservations with Jeane you wont be disappointed.
The room was beautiful, but those elevators are terrifying. Pushed the spa button figuring that was the pool floor and it opened into what can only be described as a potential murder site. Plastic hung over the door and the doors just kept opening with no way for me to push a button. I had to stand in the elevator until someone else called it and then wait for someone to get me to the casino floor so I could escape. Seriously terrifying experience for a woman traveling alone.
Self parking near valet but signs only say valet so if you dont already know theres self parking, youre left walking across the parking lot with all your luggage, up all the stairs, and to your room without help - which is NOT an easy task, especially when youre by yourself!Room thermostat is broken and we had to call for maintenance every time we needed to change the temperature. One time I called, the guest operator didnt want to deal with it, didnt listen to me, said something incoherent and transferred me to the front desk where reservations are made. Luckily when I called back immediately afterward I received a different operator who acknowledged our issue and sent maintenance for us again.Bathroom sink clogged. Towels and bedding are stiff and uncomfortable. Bed shams are unwashed, looks like someone bled on one of them and it crusted up and dried. The beds are indented in the middle, making them uncomfortable to lay on. Pillows have no form and flatten when using them. Some of the bedding including a pillow case arent clean. The hardwood floor is unswept. Shelving/storage is minimal: shelves we cant use and drawers that wont open. The TV is small. Plugs and cords sticking out all over the place. Windows dont open, not even on a crack, not even in a smoking room.I will never stay here again, unless its FREE. In my experience, the Western Village is a 100% better choice than the GSR.
I stayed here June 5th through June 7th. I took the kids here for a small vacation. The morning of June 7th I noticed a BEDBUG in the living room on the red lounge couch where we all sat and layed. At check out I informed the supervisor Gee, and head security Christopher, also contacted Michael Munda. They said Michael Munda will contact you within 72hrs. As of now I still havent talked to anyone nor receive a comp stay. I stayed in rm 1715
Always a great place to stay Nice newly remodeled rooms. The Casino is always updated and changed every trip. Had a great time there for my birthday and a nice jackpot to boot, making the trip even better.
The room was comped so that was nice. Overall the hotel is kind of run down. The hallway had cups, paper and bits of trash for all 3dsys we were there. We took a walk and the parking lot is filthy, lots of broken glass, trash and just looked dirty. Some damage on the wall outside the pool area, been there a whileBartenders are not up par, not engaging you when you sit at the bar waiting to be served, and I wont get started on the price of everything.GSR in the past was our favorite place, upscale, spotless and everyone was very friendly. What happenedProbably will not go back, even if room is comped. Its just not the same. Aside from the Casino area the place just looks tired. Most of the stores on lower level are goneBtw, check your room charges, theres a charge for housekeeping wether you use it or not
Elevator system sucks soooooooo effing bad!!!! There’s always a LONG AHHHHH LINE waiting for the elevator to go up smh! FIX THIS ISSUE GSR!!!. Also, there’s always a SHEEET TON of KIDS at this place. I don’t come to the casino for kids man come on.
Overall pretty decent for the price but what genius decided the button that turns off and on the lamp, also turns off the alarm clock???
Manager at desk is horrible made me wait 30 mins, guessing for there own entitlement. Go front desk manger you suck....also horrible service, plus there trying to expand. Do not play here loss of money all around and apparently time. Ceasers owns the row your better off there....
Outdated mega hotel casino resort. Typical hotel to forget. If you are not a gambler there is no reason to stay in. Big and clean rooms, somehow with an appearance of quality but...2 of the three lamps in the room did not work. Coffee machine did not work, asked for a replacement and arrived 45 mts later and of course no room service. TV remote malfunction as well. Not sure what the 50+ resort fee was supposed to get you, but overall feeling of being tested as cattle. They offer an airport shuttle with a disgruntled chofer. The 23 floor offers amazing views of giant parking lots, freeways and massive ugly roofs covering their massive facilities. For $200/night I am sure you will find better. Btw, the day we checked in it was $50 cheaper but no upgrade, resort credit or consolation price for your unhappy guest...
My non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes. The decco had old mismatched pillows. The bed had no comforter just sheet and blanket. Pushy waitresses who badgered my husband to get her tips up, she cussed when he declined a drink!
We was in room 2412 on 6/28/24 it was a nightmare trying to get on elevator. Too many people waiting on same one and elevator take too long to come, once it comes to many get on then you have to scan card again and wait about another 10 min, I think that is the most ridiculous setup I have ever seen. Also its hard finding a cocktail waitress once you find a cocktail waitress and order a drink it take them about 15 minutes to come back, and come back with an attitude of you dont give them no tip.smh. ☹️
Best experience ever. Rooms, pool, amenities, dining, gaming, and entertainment are all in one great location. LEX nightclub is great for shows, dancing, dining, and drinks. Fridays nights are dance lessons night after 7 p.m. Absolutely, love the GSR.
Our #1 place to stay. Only problem we encountered not enough handicap parking spots. And the no smoking area noone enforces no smoking machines in that area no selection. Would like to see the $1.00 dbl diamonds back in that srea.
My go-to place to stay and play in Reno. Property has everything you need, don’t really have to ever leave to get anything. Food options are spectacular, from the Mexican place, the buffet, to quick options such as Round Table Pizza and Port of Subs. Has a gym, pool, large bowling alley, shops, a chapel, movie theater, arcade, driving range, etc. Great place to stay away from downtown and right off 580.
I enjoyed every bit of this hotel they have a built-in casino inside bar and grill restaurants and a pool, and they have bowling, which i did not notice as my family and I got to the 19th it was a little scary being that high but we where okay the room where was shockingly beautiful the prices for the rooms where okay they also have great service here too
Hello,I really enjoy the Grand Sierra Resort. We have stayed at this hotel pleanty of times. We usually reserve a block of rooms. We bring our church here and our wrestling club. I was very disappointed this time. We stayed for a week. My father in law was in his room for 2 days and then discovered a bed bug on the bed. Thay contacted the front and they sent the pest control up to the room and verified that it was a bed bug. Now, I understand they do what needs to be done to take care of the problem. He was in a Suite. They did upgrade him to a better suite and gave him a 50.00 food voucher. I do not think that is enough I thought they would have refuned his room with a serious problem like this. If bed bugs come home with him, It is going to be very hard to get rid of them and who knows how much you will spend doing so. I believe we will still continue to stay here . It seems like they were on top of it so it made me feel better. I also had them come and check my room and we did not find anything in our room. This was in the Vista Tower. I stayed in the Sierra Tower.
This is my second time here with my three little children. We really liked this place and the amenities they have for young families. Was very impressed with the bathroom tile until I saw all the residue hair from some previous guest... The same tile after using a little soap caused me to slip and fall I couldnt get up for 5 minutes and there was no rails to use to help me get up until my little children helped up. Now my back is bruised 😞😞😞
Mothers day buffet was ok. Not worth the price tho. And champagne was $14. Of course mothers got one for free. 4 people cost $300. Good thing I saved $50 for veterans discount.
I live in Tahoe, so not too far from here, but far enough to when I visit Reno, I like to stay overnight. I was here the first week of May. There was an issue with my room, COCKROACHES!!!! When I mentioned this to the front desk they told me fill out some paperwork and they would get back to me. Its been a month and havent heard back. I have reached out several times since with no luck. Every time i hace called, I am told the managers are too busy and the person on the phone cant do anything to help. Video of COCKROACHES scurrying on our table under my food tray in the hotel room cant be uploaded here but was shown to the front desk at the time of incident.
First time staying at the hotel and experience was just ok. Hotel itself is in need of some refurbishment, chairs and tables in the restaurants and casino area were looking tattered. Food was good at restaurants and service from the wait staff was good.My overall reason for the 3 star was my experience at check-in. Staff in general were moody and not overly welcoming and when asked questions about how to get player cards or restaurant hours couldnt or wouldnt answer. If youve been before, go again its not a bad spot. If youve never been...Id look for alternatives first.
Its kind of out of the way from other casinos. The thing its got going for it is the rooms are newer and more updated. There is an arcade area at the bottom (basement) level that the kids seem to love. Everything else down there, like the restaurants and stores, are very bleh and dead.
I was visiting a local and was at a Joe satriani concert when I had too use the restroom. I waited quite a while in line for the restroom on the ground floor close to the Casino cage. To my dismay I rolled into the restroom on my wheelchair, because I am confined to it and can’t walk. I tried to get into any stall that was in the bathroom, humiliated because my wheelchair would not fit in any stall, thank goodness I didn’t have to go number two , because my wheel chair did not fit in any stall. There was one urinal that I was able to use on the north wall, and imagine the humiliation I endured having to try to go from a wheel chair. The bathroom was not handicap friendly and quite frankly there was no access for me at all. My worst nightmare ever.
Taking the elevator has been the worst experience. It will make you not want to go back down once you get to your room. There will be 30+ people waiting downstairs to get on an elevator and it will assign 15 people to one of the five elevators.
Room was great, service friendly. Its a casino, noisy, areas which were non smoking were polluted with smoke. I would not choose this again because of the smell of smokeSo, if your a non smoker Id avoid this.
NOT FUN No cocktail service while gambling here. They swirled all around us but we were never in their section and they keep saying well find your server, which never happened. Slots were very tight.
The GSR has pretty much everything you need so you never have to leave. Ample gaming. Lots of places to eat. Bowling, movie theater, arcade. Would definitely go back.
