Perception Organic Spa

I had purchased a spa package for my friend who lives in Richmond and she enjoyed it so much that when I came home to visit, we booked again. We had the facial, pedicure and massage package with organic lunch and champagne. Everything was wonderful and relaxing! I love the industrial elements on the interior of the building and the decor is wonderful. I started with Thi and a facial, which was amazing. I especially loved that she did some massage as well. Then it was on to Chris for a massage. I had been traveling for several days and was carrying a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. She listened to my concerns, adjusted the massage to a deeper level at my request, and worked out all the tension. It was heavenly! Next, we had a yummy salad and a cheese plate for lunch, along with a glass of champagne. Lastly, Mandy gave me a great hot oil pedicure. From start to finish it was a great experience and the entire staff was wonderful.

Meh. Its one of those places that has a lot of well-dressed native English speakers up front, but then the staff doing your nails are hard to communicate with due to language issues. I have special requests due to some issues (gentle massage, dont clip my cuticles) and they handled them ok, but I had to keep reminding the technician of them. This apparently upset the mean woman in the chair next to me, and she kept making harrumphing noises and then spoke rudely to me. Im a really nice and kind person, but I am going to stand up for myself so that I dont get injured! I wish I could leave a review for this patron, haha. She had a laptop out the whole time, who works during a pedicure? And then gets mad at the person next to her asking a technician to not massage her ankles? I only went here because my regular place was booked solid for three months and I was desperate because Im unable to do my own toes. Very nice place, but wish they would hire technicians who can fully communicate with the clients. Also, for older or less able patrons, their seats are very difficult to get in and out of. Very slippery and awkward. I also didnt feel super taken care of, I left feeling jangly and upset.Update: Nice, the owner called me racist. I dont think wanting to be able to fully communicate with someone who could easily injure you is racist. I was kind to everyone there, even the mean customer who sat next to me. I almost never review anything, and now Im regretting I did since the business came after me!

Come here if you want to be cheated out of your money.I dont even know where to start. My husband and I made appointments for mani/pedis 2 months in advance to celebrate our birthdays with some relaxation. We took off of work and were excited for some pampering. Then, 1.5 days before, I checked the website and saw that the type of pedicure I booked for myself was no longer listed and the price for his pedicure (the libation beer pedicure, now called local brew spirited) had gone up 15%. The manicure prices had also increased. Wed received no outreach in advance to tell us that a service wed booked was no longer available and were given no notice of the price change. I reached out about our concerns and was simply told that the services and pricing had changed and there was nothing that could be done except pick different services if we wanted. There was no effort from management and obviously no plan for the customers this impacted.Given the short notice, we didnt have many other options so we showed up for our appointments, keeping a positive mindset. We were gravely disappointed.Among other things, my husbands pedicure started 30 minutes late. We were charged $99 for his libation beer pedicure (estimated to take 1 hour) yet they somehow wrapped his up in about 30 minutes and we both moved to manicures at the same time. On top of that, he did not get what was promised on the website. His pedicure was almost identical to mine (despite being $30 more) except for one difference: He was given half a can of beer (he had no choice in the type) to drink and the other half was poured in his foot bath. I suppose the half a beer in the foot bath was what made it a beer soak. but there was no fresh lemon on top. There was also no draft beer nourishing masque. The woman used the exact same products and steps on his feet as on mine (from the same tray of products).For my manicure ($69), I got regular polish (non gel). Im aware that this typically only lasts a few days but mine had significant chips within about 12 hours (they actually werent perfect when I left the salon but by that point I was so frustrated I just left) including 2 nails that had completely peeled off. In that time, I didnt shower, do dishes, clean, etc... so theres no reason why theyd have such significant damage. I had lunch with my friends for my birthday and they were appalled. Completely shocked by the state of them after less than a day. I had to repaint the two nails that had peeled in a different color (which has managed to stay on without any chipping for 2 days now). By 24 hours later, there were even more huge chips/portions peeled off.I will be finding a new salon.Edit: Since I dont want anyone to get the impression (based on the spas comment) that the issue is resolved, I want to make clear that it is not. They initially offered me partial credit to be used at a future appointment but then told me they actually couldnt offer that. When I asked for an explanation they started ignoring me. I pointed out, for example, that my issues were not just with the change to prices and services but with the fact that the services rendered did not match the descriptions (I also pointed out that I was not provided with an itemized reciept). They havent responded to multiple attempts to reach them over the last week. They did, however, update their comment in that time to claim that I am confused and dishonest. I am neither of those things. If I was, theyd be able to provide clear answers to my polite questions and concerns instead of ghosting me. Be aware that if you post an honest review, theyll call you a liar and ignore you instead of trying to address the fact that they ripped you off.

The interior of the salon is so beautiful, plus it smells heavenly! I was greeted at the door and immediately shown the rack for nail colors as I was there for a pedicure. There was no wait and I went right back into a semi-private room, something I’ve never seen before. Kat made me feel comfortable right away. She got me a glass of water and was so friendly and helpful. She did a great job refreshing my legs and feet with sugar scrubs and other products that smelled and felt amazing! We had such a friendly conversation and she was such a delightful person! My nail color looks fantastic and she trimmed my nails just the way I like them. I was so pleased with everything at this salon. I visit Richmond quite often and will definitely be back and will ask for Kat when I return.

I did the half day spa treatment and it was way beyond my expectations. The staff was very professional, competent and warm. I left with a feeling of well-being that I really needed!! Great place AND Great experience. Would come back again and would definitely refer folks.

A little pricey, but absolutely worth it. I had a massage, facial, and underarm wax. I probably won’t go back for the wax just bc it’s clearly more of an eyebrows only kind of wax room (very small) but the spa experience upstairs is fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Thi is the BEST. The new seats, however, are not; hard to get into and dangerous to get out of, way too slippery. Also the adjustments forward and back are awkward. The spa as a whole seems a little cluttered with all the stuff for sale, but it’s pleasant anyway.

Thi did a beautiful job with my nails! Very relaxing environment.

I went in for a full set of dip powder nail enhancements and I had a lovely experience. I was easily able to set an appointment for the same day using their website. When I arrived, I loved the ambiance: it was cozy, clean, and they played lofi hip hop in the background. My nail tech, Ro, was amazing. His work was neat and efficient, but not rushed. Due to anxiety, I can sometimes be quite stiff or a bit jumpy, which can be challenging for some, but he remained gentle and accommodating the entire time. I wish I had come prepared to tip more.My only warnings are that the salon was small, but thats expected due to the location and the number of services they offer. Also, my tech assumed a couple things about how I wanted my nails done. His assumptions were right, loved the outcome, so I didnt speak up. There is an opportunity to write exactly what you want when booking and Im certain if I had asked for changes on the spot it would have been no problem.

EDIT: The best place to get your nails done in Richmond when done by Thi. The white nails are done by Thi and this picture was taken 2 weeks after they were done (dip and extensions). The red nails were done by someone else and the picture was taken less than a week after they were done (also dip). I paid $75 for nails that look like they were painted, not dipped and all but two nails cracked and chipped in less than a week.If you want your nails to look good get them done by Thi.

I had an amazing experience here! The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. Thi does my nails, she is AMAZING! Not only are all the nail services great, they also offer massage, facials, body treatments, and waxing! Did I mention everything is organic and made in house?? LOVE. Here’s a picture of my nails, I got a shellac mani, and as you can see Thi ate and left no crumbs. 10/10

Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time or money. I had to pay 136 to get my polish changed, my nails ruined, burned and upon inspection my polish looks like a child did my nails. Clipped and not filed. Choppy and rough edges. This place was recommended by the Marriott downtown. Not sure why they would send their guests there. So mad I wasted money. Tech was inexperienced to say the least. I blame Management for not making sure things are being done properly. The guest should have to be deemed mean or a tough customer because they ask for the service they pay for. But seriously… 136 to change my color?!?!? Never again. Don’t go here. I will be filing a complaint with the hotel as well. They give their stamp of approval for those visiting the area. SHAME

Im very satisfied, its my first time coming here and Im very satisfied with this place.Not only the quality but also the staff are extremely cute. Next time I will definitely come back!! 💕…

I found this place while wandering around with the love of my life. We stepped in to buy oils and Kimberly was so welcoming that we curiously asked about couples massage. To our luck, they had an opening right then and were able to take us in. The price is more than fair. I took leap of faith and even paid gratuity upfront, just asked to ensure they will deliver. Taylor and Kate used their expertise to transport us into a very peaceful state of mind with their skills. It has been the BEST massage EVER, certainly coming back for more. If you havent, give this place a try! They also offer pedicure and manicure services.

I’m almost hesitant to leave a review because I don’t want my very favorite spot to get too popular BUTTT I’ve been coming to Perception Organic faithfully for about a year. I usually get a shellac, manicure and shellac pedicure of various types, but I’ve also gotten dip, tips, etc here and there and I’ve never been anything less than thrilled with the result. It’s a beautiful, relaxing space from the moment you walk in the door. Hot tip: The complementary hot tea is to die for, don’t skip it.

Super relaxing experience 🥰 amazing atmosphere and staff. Love that they use natural and organic stuff when possible. A little pricey ($87 for one of the pedicures with shellac) but definitely a good experience!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Perception and it will be my go-to spa from now on!Booking was easy and straightforward through their website. I needed to make an adjustment after booking and the receptionist was quick and courteous when assisting me.This was my first time there and all of the staff was incredibly polite throughout my entire stay. Tien was my technician for my waxing appointment and she was extremely professional, kind, and personable during my service.The ambiance throughout Perception is so serene and relaxing, even in the busier downstairs area. Is it pricier than what you might find elsewhere? Yes. Is it worth the extra cost? Absolutely. Am I already planning my next appointment? Without a doubt. Im eager to see what their facial, massage, and mani/pedi experiences are like.

My friend and I absolutely loved our experience at this establishment. It was everything that I wanted. Everyone was friendly and very accommodating. The environment was very soothing I loved every second of it.My concerns are regarding pricing. I was not asked if I wanted my facial upgraded at an additional cost. I would have agreed to it because it was the best facial Ive ever had. A heads up would have been nice though before changing what I requested. Also, the price for my spa packages increased April 1st. I scheduled my appointment mid March for April 15th. Nothing was said during scheduling about a price increase during setting the appointment or upon arrival. My friend said she saw small signs but I didnt.Thankfully, they quickly refunded me the difference because their website still had the price I made the appointment for.I ABSOLUTELY recommend this spa. You will enjoy the experience!! Just be aware of being given a more expensive service without notification.

I would never set foot into this place again & want to warn others about this awful company. After my massage I paid the receptionist & added a tip as usual. Later that evening I checked my account & noticed they took out MORE money without my permission. I left a message & did not receive a call back. I called again 2 days later & they sent me a refund receipt via my email. Funny thing is that I have yet to receive my money. My bank stated they have had more than enough time to give me my refund. Be very wise & careful when going to this place.I DO NOT recommend!

I absolutely loved Perception Spa. A friend gave me an incredible gift card, and I had such a calm and relaxing day, with a massage, facial, delicious lunch, and pedicure. Sometimes it is so necessary to treat yourself- I would definitely recommend Perception Spa to anyone who wants a nice day of pampering and self-care!!

I regularly get my nails done here with Thi! Their kindness and attention to detail is what keeps me coming back ☺️ It’s so nice walking into the spa and being greeted by such pleasant people. They offer you water and tea, allow you to start looking at all the many nail polish colors ahead of time, and answer any questions you may have. The spa’s atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing - it’s becoming even more so with their recent interior design updates. It’s so refreshing seeing all the new changes ❤️

A delightfully different urban spa experience where you are surrounded by all-natural products and services, quiet and inviting rooms upstairs and down, and highly professional staff who are friendly and relaxed. I felt specially treated from the start and was very impressed with the massage and nail services I received.

The overall experience was marvelous. Background music, the intimacy of a smaller space rather then the massive factory businesses.

Got a couples massage one rainy day and yum. Great massage and lovely atmosphere upstairs. Extremely relaxing, loved the complimentary ginger tea and aromatherapy. My husband and I were the only ones there and we spent an additional hour after our massage just sipping hot tea, chatting, and looking out the window over Cary St. Nobody bothered us or rushed us. Just beautiful. The prices are typical for these kinds of places, I think we spent $125-150 each for an hour massage. Not cheap, but less than the high-end hotel spas. They have spa packages too if youre looking for some extra pampering.

Did a spa package and everyone was excellent! I appreciate the organic products used and the treatments were great.The only awkward part is the one size temporary bra and underpants for the body scrub were definitely not meant for XL ladies. Otherwise everything was awesome!

Update: still so clean and welcoming. Their CND polish is very long lasting including shellac. Still a frequent customer after many years.Excellent service. Very clean and welcoming. I enjoy going back and back again even after a longer stretch away. I went in for a pedicure and shellac manicure at lunch time and enjoyed the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Even a neck warmer! The owner is very hospitable and even handed out Christmas cards! I have gotten many small unexpected gifts over the years of going here.

Ive only had positive experiences at Perception! I go most often for mani/pedis but have also gotten facial waxing and a massage. I usually go to Tien and shes amazing.

A lovely experience. Very relaxing. I had a detox pedicure. The water was too hot, and later the heated booties were also way too hot, but otherwise a nice place to spend an hour and a half.

I was here for a best friend’s birthday weekend. I got the 90 min poultice massage, the birthday girl got the 90 min hot stones massage, and our last friend got a 60 min therapeutic massage. We all thought it was worth it, especially me, since I could take the poultices back and use it at home after my appointment up to ~6x. My masseur was extremely kind and soft-spoken. He made me feel comfortable and was experienced in the massage I paid for. I’ll be back again next time I visit!

Exceptional staff in politeness and accomodation. Services are all top notch as Ive had eye brow tinting and waxing done, as well as numerous Mani/Pedis done. Facials are completely blissful from start to finish I noticed an immediate difference in my skin. Also had a full body massage and it was stellar, the masseuse made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. Products are completely natural and organic! Atmosphere is like a secret get away in the middle of the city. Highly recommend this place for all services. Ive always left feeling like a renewed person in all aspects.

The therapists were wonderful! Nothing to complain about their!However, I booked over the phone with an apparently newer receptionist. I asked for couples massages and for my wife to have the para-hydrating facial. We were first time customers- we got there and everything went smooth. Received our treatments and went to pay. The amount seemed odd, but I just assumed they included a tip. When handed the receipt, the lady had charged me for a $175 facial for my wife instead of the $115 I requested. She first said “Oh I’m sorry their are multiple kinds of hydrating facials and I must have hit the wrong one”....and then called her manager over. I felt like they would have resolved the issue but then she told me all she could do was give me 10% off because “I still received the treatment”. I kindly tried to tell her that we were taken upstairs, our treatments weren’t verified, and that lady just started doing the facial.....and no matter what treatment she received I wouldn’t have known the difference to even tell her she’s doing the wrong one. Then the receptionist, who owned her mistake at first, chimed back in and told me “I was the one that scheduled you and you just said hydrating”. I said “ma’am, I read the treatment right off the website to you so I know that’s a lie....and you also put me in your system as Brett instead of Brad so someone might have a hearing issue.” So the manager told me that 10% is all she could do because she still had to pay for the chemicals....rather than owning her mistake. So I left and told her that she could then tip her therapists and explain that to them since they wanted to steal my money over there error- that’s just bad business ethics. Yes, it wasn’t the therapist fault and I know that, but nor was it mine and I had to pay the consequence- but I’m hoping this message finds them so they know what went on!I have since reached out to the only email contact on their page and have yet to receive a response.

I moved to Richmond a few months ago, and by far this is my favorite nail salon. The interior is beautiful and welcoming. Very lovely.Thi is my favorite nail technician; she is warm and pleasant to be around, and she is very attentive to your needs. I would definitely recommend this spa to my friends and family! I will definitely be coming back!

This place is my favorite nail salon. Everyone is very polite and professional. They are taking very good precautions for Covid as well. Everyone has to fill out a screening survey, get their temperature checked, and wash your hands upon arrival. I love how the atmosphere is so relaxing, which is why I go to get my nails done. It’s my “self care” time, so I appreciate that I can close my eyes and just enjoy being well taken care of. This place is the best of the best!

I always enjoy my time at Perception! I like that the salon uses organic polishes...bonus, it doesnt smell like chemicals like most nail salons do. The staff is always courteous, skilled, and great about taking me on time.

The hot oil manicure is hands down the best I’ve ever had! Thi was wonderful and is very talented/skilled. Looking forward to going back again!

Came here on a girls weekend trip and chose a package including massage, facial, and pedicure with lunch. Our experience was beyond 5 stars. Everything was relaxing, top notch service. Masseuses were clearly experienced in customizing the treatment, and we left feeling rejuvenated. All staff was kind, very attentive, and did not rush us through the services. We live out of state and have already talked about a future trip where we return to Perception Spa.

Excellent quality & experience every time! My nails always look perfect, & I get at least 1 more week out of my shellac compared to other nail salons. My husband & I had a little pre-wedding spa day, & they brought us complementary glasses of champagne & chocolate strawberries to celebrate the occasion.

I drove 2 hours on my birthday. the receptionist and the massage were professional but the pedicure was not. She rushed me as soon as i walked in and the water was cold in the foot bath. and light if any scrubbing....very disappointed.

Way over-priced for the services provided. The massage was subpar, and you could hear the phone ringing and people laughing and talking. The pedicure was okay, but the polish-job from the manicure didnt last 30 hours. My husband truly wasted his money on the gift card he purchased. It was not a relaxing or cost effective experience. Ive had better quality service at a strip mall nail salon.

What an experience. My husband is in Fort Lee graduating BOLC tomorrow. And I was looking for a quick last minute set. They got me in right away. Super friendly and the place was absolutely gorgeous. So relaxing. And the man who did my set was so good!! They don’t do acrylics. They do dip powder with extensions. Never got them before. Will definitely be getting them done like that next time!!Unfortunately we are leaving for Alaska on Saturday so I won’t be able to return here. But 12/10 would recommend!!!

Went for couple massages and we loved the atmosphere walking through the door. I had therapist Tom and oh my goodness was he amazing. My boyfriend has had back issues since a previous car accident and he couldn’t stop talking about how he felt so much relief after his massage with Jacquelin. We both are in agreement that we will be returning.Thanks Jacqueline and Tom! We feel like new people!

Not really impressed with the initial interactions with the receptionist. I was clear that this was my first time stopping into this spa. I was given sub par treatment. I observed the interactions following my intial one. It was clear that the “regulars” received an improved interaction than what I had received. The little things make a difference, please treat everyone the same.Otherwise my nail tech who did my pedicure was wonderful. She was very sweet and attempted to make the rest of my stay comfortable. This is the reason they received 3 stars . Otherwise I would’ve given them one star; the first interaction is always the most notable. Please remember this.

My rating is based on price -- the dip is incredibly over priced and was not on the menu when I initially made my appointment for gel. Since I prefer dip and this is what I get at home I asked my manicurist if I could switch to dip when I saw the containers by our table. She did this gracefully, but my charge at the end of the appointment was $65. I live in Charlotte and have my nails dipped anytime I need a manicure and Ive never been charged over $45. They charged me $50 for the dip and $15 for the manicure. Needless to say, this is over priced and I wont return.The additional charge was NOT reviewed with me -- I assumed it was similarly priced with the gel which is common.

My friend and I were in need of a spoiling and boy did we get pampered! The ladies were extremely clean and took our temperature at the door. We got the best pedicures of our lives (we are real connoisseurs!) in an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. We will never go anywhere else

The ladies that did the massage , the counterclerk, and lady that guided us upstairs were great. However, the Asian managers or owners were not as kind and watched us as if we came to steal from them. The place was very small and they had one small restroom upstairs with a curtain. For these reasons, I will take my business elsewhere.

When my group arrived we didn’t notice the sign on the door for the Covid checklist. We were then greeted by a very rude receptionist. There was a major difference in how we were treated by the receptionist versus how other guests were treated. As we came in we were talking about our excitement for the first time spa experience and I feel like we were immediately cast as the “loud group” within 5 seconds of us being there. She could have nicely told us what we were supposed to do without a condescending attitude. The rest of the staff was so sweet and inviting!I would also add the protocols should’ve been emailed or told to us over the phone. First time visitors are excited and may miss the small signs on the door.

Ive been a member at Perception for several years now, and the atmosphere and the treatments are far and beyond anywhere else in Richmond. Tsondu is the best masseuse in town, and Chloe is my favorite for nails, although Kim is also so sweet and does a great job. Cant recommend them enough!

I went there and had already cut my toe nails. I specifically told the woman I didn’t want them to cut my nails multiple times. She REPEATEDLY kept trying to cut them. I kept telling her to stop, that it was too sensitive. Now I have an ingrown toenail from where she hacked at the nail without permission. I would NOT recommend.

First massage I’ve ever received and was not disappointed. I have had back problems for YEARS due to Active Duty Military service and for the first time, I can take a deep breath without any sharp pains in my back. Highly professional, and highly skilled. Definitely recommend!

My daughter wanted a spa day for her birthday. She is 12 and I called here because I knew the products would be easier on her being organic. They were very accommodating and sweet. My daughter and her friend were so relaxed after facials they were quiet. We all then had pedicures together. I loved mine and so did everyone else. We will be back again! Thank you for helping make my daughters birthday!

Came on a Saturday afternoon with a spa party of 4. Coordinating the whole thing was a breeze and the service we received was top notch! The interior is beautiful, everyone was very friendly, and we were allowed to use their second floor cafe area for a quick snack after our services.

Bought the Stress reducing manicure​. The technician was very nice and did a good job with the French manicure, but it lasted barely 36 hours. Sure, I didnt spend extra for the 2 week stuff...but come on, for what I paid I would have expected at least 48 hours. This would be 2 stars, if the staff wasnt so nice.

I thought itd be fun to wander around Carytown and find a new nail salon, but I think this was one of the worst pedi experiences Ive ever had. First off, it cost $60 plus tip ($72 total) for a basic 30 minute gel pedicure...and the experience was the opposite of luxurious. The salon itself is old and in need of a major makeover. The soaking basins were gross and gave me the heebie jeebies (they dont cover them with one-time use plastic wrap). When the nail tech removed my old gel polish, she filed so hard that she scuffed the tops of two of my toes, and then she proceeded to make it worse by pouring a product with alcohol all over them. Her paint job was imprecise, and I have topcoat all over the edges of my toenails that days later still wont come off. In most other salons, I can get so much more for this price (and not leave with abrasions). Do not suggest.

I have been seeing Katie for my nails after a horrible manicure destroyed my nails and cuticles. My nails are very healthy and growing now! She has also encouraged me to step outside of my boring same color polish choices which I am loving :)I highly recommend Perception Organic Spa.

Received a gift certificate from my lovely daughter for my BFF and I to go on my B-day !! It was the best massage experience.. relaxing atmosphere, excellent customer service, attention to detail, cleanliness. Overall a great way to spend the day.

I made three appointments for this week, all 3 were either changed or outright cancelled at the last minute, because they overbooked. If Id done this to them Id be charged a cancellation fee for cancelling less than 48 hours, but I got a half hearted sorry when I called to ask why I received an email saying my appointments were cancelled. Im pretty bummed, I used to genuinely love this place.

Clean spa, all organic products, attentive staff. Great prices when you sign up for their salon membership. $49 for a monthly massage or facial and $59 for a monthly massage or facial plus a manicure. You cant beat that price in Carytown! Plus all other services/products are 10% off in addition to that. When I get their gel manicure it stays on for a full two weeks. They also dont try to pressure you into buying product like most facial salons do, they are no pressure and very professional. Love this place!

This is NOT a place, space, or atmosphere for ANYONE NOT familiar with Rva/Cary town area. We called ahead once we discovered we were lost and not able to locate parking. Once arriving to the location we were greeted by management who was least than able to communicate effectively and/or listen to a positive resolution for both parties. Instead of listening, with an open mind and heart we were told if you arrive again late you wont be able to receive service. Please keep in mind we spend over 20 minutes looking for parking. Then spending 10 minutes talking to problem solve. Management returned to tardy/late policy which we didnt dispute. We simple asked for gift cards instead of receiving partial services at that time. We agreed to pay for all services scheduled with the plan to return at a later time. This fell on deaf ears. I had to explain multiple times with other members of my party trying to explain. We were never rude, never disrespectful, never refusing to pay. We also were never informed of the issue with parking in this area. We were not greeted in a manner I have EVER experienced from a Spa location. My best advice would be to require problem and conflict resolution skills to all of management and front desk (greeting) individuals. When first time clients call to make a reservation inform them of the parking situation. Instead of only securing a credit card. When someone comes from out of town for a service be somewhat accommodating. I have had better communication with children and teens that I have worked with in school systems. Management was more concerned with hearing herself speak than the logic and solution presented to her. Based on my front door/greeting experience I would not recommend this place. And after looking closer at the reviews this is an area that needs growth and development here. Sadly, this wasnt a tranquil, soothing, relaxing or happy experience. It absolutely put a damper on my day in Rva. DONT BOOK HERE!!!!!

My friends and I made reservation for a spa package. I myself am Hispanic and my two female friends are African american. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by a very rude receptionist. She didn’t even greet us with courtesy. It was attitude as soon as she saw us. We did comply by covid regulations. And I did take my mask down as I was walking upstairs for my facial bc my glasses started to fog up. As soon as the receptionist asked me to put the mask back on I did. Everyone at the salon was nice expect for the receptionist and that pretty much ruined the experience for me. While I was getting my nails done the receptionist then greeted other clients who entered and (did not call in, as the owner stated we were supposed to do on a previous review) bc I was sitting right in front of the desk and the receptionist was standing up fixing merchandise.the receptionist then greeted these Caucasian clients and even helped them choose a color for their nails!!! Completely different then the service we received !!!! I will tell everyone about this terrible experience and I will not be going back to this spa!!! The owner can review the cameras but not the audio!! No excuses should be made for that type of service ! Specially with today’s events!!!!!!!

I usually love this place but I’m pretty upset with my most recent experience. I walked by and the place was EMPTY so I thought I’d get a pedicure. The people at the desk said they didn’t have time… despite them not having a single customer at the time.

Dont let the nail technician cut all of the skin on your fingers off. I didnt realize until it was too late and there was a big pile of skin in the technicians nippers after she cut all of my cuticles off and tons of skin on the sides of my fingers. There was some burning when she applied alcohol and then later that night my fingers were sore and very red. I took an ibuprofen, applied some neosporin and emailed the salon later that night to inform them that I was having adverse reactions to the manicure. Their response: an apology, an insistence that I should allow my cuticles and tons of finger skin to be removed in the future or tell the technician not do this---and then they added a note that they were cancelling our 3 pedicure appointments next month (I took two friends with me who also had appointments and we were hoping to make it a regular monthly event). My objective was to let them know about the skin issues so this might not happen to other people (I didnt ask for a refund - I simply stated the fact that I was having a lot of pain as a result of a service they provided)- and they rewarded me by cancelling my appointments for me and my friends.

I am always pleased with my service but I do not understand why there is a charge to take off polish???

When I was making my appointment, I looked online at all the facials to choose from. One was 50 minutes, others were 60. I didn’t mind paying the extra 20$ for an extra 10 minutes.Unfortunately, Chloe started my service a couple minutes late and ended my service ten minutes early. I asked the front desk if I got the facial I requested because the timing was off, the lady I spoke with comes back and says that she used all of the products for the facial I wanted.So?As a client, I wasn’t paying the extra 20$ for the products. I was paying the extra $20 for the time.As a massage Therapist being in the spa industry , I know many workers who cheat the clients time to make money at the cost of the client. Out of habit, I always look at the time when any service begins and ends so I know if I’m being treated properly. I didn’t get what I wanted or thought I was paying for.Front desk didn’t care. Still paying extra for something I didn’t get even though I expressed my dissatisfaction.Will not return, which is unfortunate because it was a cool little environment.Also, didn’t have any kind of glow afterwards. My skin wasn’t even soft. She didnt do any Décolleté massage while I sat and steamed for what felt like 10 minutes without her even touching me at all. I heard clicking behind me which sounded as if she was texting while I was steaming. Also didn’t use anything at all to moisturize my lips.Just a sad facial and a waste of money. Chloe should consider changing professions if she’s not willing to put in the effort to make her clients really feel better. Sad to admit- but I only tipped her $6 because of how poor the service was. If I had the time I was paying for, it would’ve been $20+.All in all, save some money and get the time you pay for and go somewhere else. If you don’t, just don’t ask for Chloe.

Loved it! My girlfriends and I came for a birthday and they were very accommodating of us all. It was a really relaxing atmosphere and their ginger tea is so good! All the workers were very friendly and helped us relax. Also I love thats it all organic :)

So my friends and I planned a VERY last minute spa day for a friend’s bachelorette day. Also, to preface, we are chronically late for everything. During the process of us trying to “get it together”(lol), the staff was incredibly accommodating and flexible and turned, what would have been a stressful mad dash, into the relaxing spa day that we all truly needed. Thank you so much Perception. 10/10 would recommend!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately their service was sub par. I came in for an eyebrow waxing. Admittedly it was a little over due. They have two options, eyebrow maintenance ($14) or eyebrow shaping ($15). I still had some shape so I figured maintenance should be okay. The lady was nice but said maybe five words the whole time. Usually I get asked what I like, what I am looking for, etc. I just figured she was good at her job and could tell I just needed a little cleanup. Wrong. Because I didnt get shaping she made sure I had NO shape. She waxed my eyebrows so they were two straight lines of hair above my eye. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw it! She literally took away ALL shape, even natural shape. If she would have told me that things were a little too overgrown that I should get the $1 shaping I would have had no problem approving the switch (although I still dont think I needed that service). Additionally, my eyebrows can get a little long, so usually the cosmetologist trims them up so they looked groomed, but not her. I left and went straight to another salon to see if they could fix the damage. To try and get a little shape back they had to take way more hair than Ive ever had taken, and my eyebrows are not very dense so it looks like I am just missing part of the middle of my brow now. Ugh, nightmare. Two stars because the ambiance was nice but I will never trust them with anything.

My friend and I got our nails done by Thi and Tien! They were both amazing and I had a great conversation with Tien. She was very attentive to details and I love my manicure

I own a business in Carytown and have been there forever (Carytown Optical)but like many of you I would fit in a manicure before work or at lunch at your typical mall salon. Several weeks ago while visiting chop suey book store across the street I happend to notice the sign for Perception salon which said the manicure price , that I already pay elsewhere, includes a 50 minute massage!!! As soon as my nails were in need of a manicure I dropped by and was in love at first sight (sound and smell) The staff is wonderful , the decor is soothing. There is always a tea of the day and flavored water such as the rosemary/lemon I had today . The massage chairs I have sat in for pedicures are the best. Candles are lit about and soft music is playing. The manicures have not been rushed whatsoever like that other person wrote. I can only believe that person works for the competition because I cannot imagine leaving this nail salon without eagerly awaiting your next visit!! I have not even gotten to the most amazing part. THE MASSAGE!! Oh WowI cannot even begin to explain this massage but Slavi (fromBulgaria) told me it would not be like a typical American massage and then I discovered what he meant Wow!! The massage is given in a dimly lit room with light music. All I can say is that You have never felt anything like this ! I will likely write a review just for Slavi (not sure if Ive spelled his name right) He uses techniques that I have never ever felt before . Amazing! Stress gone , Intoxicating ! And like I said This is included in my monthly membership!! Which is no more expensive than my usual mani /pedi ! Whattt ? Best kept secret in Richmond!To anyone man or woman in need of massage only who doesnt have their nails done still Go see Slavi for one massage and skip any other place , skip your chiropractors office ,skip those mall type massage envy places , go to Perception and see the masseuse from Bulgaria ! Youll love it.

I bought my wife a gift card and after taking her to get her nails and toes done the nail polish was already sprinkling and coming off of her nails. They did a horrible job and I could have gotten a much better job done at a much cheaper price.

Had the most amazing, relaxing Detox Pedicure! Couldn’t recommend Perception more. My toes and feet have never looked better. It is a beautiful spa with a wonderful team :)

I was in town for the weekend and decided to treat myself to a spa day. It was wonderful. The atmosphere was lovely. The services were top notch. I had an outstanding massage and facial. I recommend it highly.

I was offered a job there but was let go after a day and a half. I didn’t get a warm welcome nor did I get a proper training. The person that was supposed to be training me I believe had reservations about me due to my skin color. I would ask to learn information and she just wouldn’t give it. I think she was more concerned with keeping her job and wanted to make it seem others weren’t as capable as she was. They said they get paid weekly but were unable to give me my payment for another two weeks. Without having my ssn, calling my referrals or background checking me I’m not sure what the wait time is for. Not getting an explanation of why I’m being let go was confusing. I would not suggest working for this company.

Asked for an appointment through chat at 12:22They responded at 12:32 that an 11 am was available, I asked if she could book it for me (responding 7 mins later. ) Called to verify it was done just in case. When I called they said that time slot was booked at 1132am. Then why would it be available? Disappointed in lack of profesionalism or care for clientele.
