Waited 10 minutes at bar around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday. No service from the black bartender so I left. I used to bartend there years ago. Not the place it used to be. Peter you need better bartenders!!No excuse

The Fish Fry is back and better than ever. Chef Lonnie is Killin it in the kitchen!!

My husband and I met at the Pub 37 years ago, so we decided to celebrate there last night. It was the best decision weve made in a while! We were greeted by Deb behind the bar, chatted with some of the regulars and went up a few stairs to have dinner. It was amazing. There, we met Katie and a very busy gentleman taking care of a table of 17, both of whom couldnt have been more friendly, accommodating and welcoming to us. My husband had the N.Y. strip steak which he described as perfect, and I had the fish fry (it was Friday after all). It was delicious. It was very comfortable and relaxed. And it was very nice. I know well be back.

The pub is a great place to meet and hang with friends. Katies cooking is superb, portions are very fair. The remodel looks great.

I use to go there a lot when i wasyounger .when it had dance floor and pool table It was a little darker .I havent been there.for long time...I was shocked to see the change.dance floor gone pool table gone. And brighter. And. It has a food menu .It a good change.The food is good the and nice place to relax sometimes change is good

Good food, cheap drinks, and guys. What more could you ask for lol. Food options were a little limited for my vegetarian friend, would be my only complaint

The drinks are strong, the atmosphere is great and Katie makes the best burger in town. They are always so consistent with their service!!

Went here once on a date. Very welcoming and some of the nicest and carefree people you’ll come across. Definitely check it out if you’re open to meet new and beautiful people who aren’t afraid to be themselves.

I brought my sister and brother in law here last night. Although we are all straight, we were welcomed with open arms. We must have had discussions with at least 24 people here last night. The owner even gave us some cupcakes. Please pray for the owner. She is going through a rough patch. I bind all demonic forces that have a stronghold over this establishment in Jesus’ name. I pray for everyone I met there last night that they have continued success in their careers and to have continued positive interactions with all Christians they meet. Amen!

What a great place and great place to hang out ! The bartenders Carolyn and Sean (happy birthday Sean) were outstanding! Food cooked by Katie was phenomenal , great sized plate , and awesome meat hot sauce ! Definitely goin back!

This bar has been the best bar ever to me. In addition they are having their 40th anniversary this weekend. If you have not seen the avenue pub and you live in Rochester and are gay, lesbian, trans, cross dresser, or friend, you need to visit this iconic bar. Been in business this long.. They must be doing something right!

First time visiting the area. I was welcome by Katie. Lets just say Ive never felt so welcome and accepted in a LGBT setting like I did here.Katie is one of a kind .

In reply to DWIGHT WASCOMS review .... I found it quite ironic that a customer who is in the bar SEVERAL times a week, would write such negativity. Luckily we have GREAT loyal customers that LOVE coming to the bar. We have been in business for 40 years, so that alone speaks volumes....So, Dwight, if you truly feel that service is terrible and bartenders are old... well by all means you can save your party budget by going elsewhere.... Love this place. Its open but gay, its calm but fun, its not quite a pub but not a bar. The food is great and great value. When you dont want a club, when you just need somewhere that everyone knows your name... Come here.

Great place had a great time had some drinks and ate.

They really need to fire Miss Deborah, What a horrible unpleasant and unfriendly c u next tuesday. She is the main reason I will not go in there. Very rude and nasty and looks at new comers like they are a bag of dog poop instead of being welcoming! All the reviews are quiet accurate. The crowd ranges from friendly to pompous to generally weird and people who make you feel ick. The bathrooms are gross and havent been remodeled in 30 yrs with a 30 yr old stench of piss. Save your money guys and go to The Forum. For the gals, go to 140 Alex.

I was in this bar in its hey day when they had a dance floor and a DJ. Back then it was excellent,now its a dive,that was 30 years ago. As for Miss Deborah,I remember her from another bar called Bobbys,she was fired because her attitude sucked.

Were having our SAGE happy hour tonight and Katie fixed us some great finger foods.. Of. Course Carolyn is keeping us from going thirsty. Having a great time!!!

Katie makes the best food, her melts on Thursdays are an orgasim in your mouth. The bartenders are so great and give the best service.

My boyfriend and I just moved to Rochester and one of the first days we are here we pass by Avenue Pub, so we decided to check it out because we were looking for a chill gay-friendly place to drink and socialize. Needless to say, this place is not it!The bar itself seemed pretty nice: pool table, darts, covered outdoor smoking area, but the service was AWFUL! The bartender literally told us Either buy something or get out. This isnt a hang out stop. We were both put off by this but decided to suck it up and buy a couple beers (which was flat). The bartender then said Im only being strict cause I dont know you. Personally that is the worst way to build new clientele. We wont be returning.

This is a very cute gay bar that caters to a more mature crowd. When I visited, people were friendly, the bar tender was great, and the atmosphere was comfortable and safe.

What can I say this place is just fun family friends classic affordable Corner Bar that delivers on what it promises the bartenders are amazing the drinks are affordable I hope you guys dont go the way of all the other ones in the city and have to close because of the internet its not about the internet anymore guys get out and meet some people stop hiding behind your screen youre not that ugly

I spent five days in Rochester and three of those evenings I stopped by this pub for food and drinks and everything was wonderful. Thank you for the hospitality Avenue Pub!

Staff was very friendly and the Tuscan chicken with rice and zucchini was absolutely fantastic.

Carolyn provides top notch bar service, and the food is always delicious.
