This is a HOT spot on the weekends - the DJ last Friday was taking requests and played songs I havent heard in a good while. The remodels are incredible - really cool atmosphere with different lighting styles. The decor is really neat. Bar staff is very friendly and the drink selection is impressive.
Loved the place! just opened last week really good food and nice atmosphere and staff. Not alot of people there at time but believe because its so new and not much for advertising that we saw. Will definately be returning to try other dishes. I got the ribeye kabobs and wife got the dry rub ribs.Plate does not represent how much food you get, I Almost forgot to take photos of food before it was gone.
Saganaki with no opa!The food was disgusting! There’s no other way to describe it. The saganaki had weird cheeses in it and the pita that came with it taste as if they dumped a bucket of salt on it. They offered no sauce for the lamb kafta. The presentation was terrible. It’s was just a piece of meat on a dry bed of rice. They didn’t even have garlic paste! The decor is what pulled me in for dining, but the food killed the vibe. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless you just want to have an Instagram worthy drink. The best part about the entire experience was the waiter. The poor guy was the only one working. But he was attentive and friendly.
I don’t mean to be rude but this was probably one of the worst restaurant experiences my girlfriends and I have had. our server was fine, she handled the situation as best she could, but between the lack of menu options, and the overall unfortunate taste of the food, I will not be back. the kitchen had dropped my entree upon preparation, leaving me to not get served until the other people in my party had mostly finished. The cards were run wrong, a dish was sent back (which we have NEVER done) and my entree also came out wrong. I am happy that the appetizer was taken off the bill as compensation, but ultimately the group meal was entirely thrown off. again, the service was fine, but the restaurant as a whole has made its way onto my “do not reserve” list.
The place was empty but we had a good experience. The food was good and so were the drinks. It is a bit pricey, but overall met expectations. We got the hummus appetizer and it was good. I got a salad with a side of Brussels and it was a HUGE side. If you’re willing to pay for a good dining experience, I would recommend trying it out.
Very pretty atmosphere, unfortunately that does not make up for the poor service and overpriced cuisine and drinks. Ordered the saganaki fondue and it came out cold, separated, and chunky. We sent it back and they refunded. Then next in the menu was the bohemian tower, zucchini tasted crisp, but extremely salty, and not enough sauce to combat the saltiness. We next ordered the ribs, they were over cooked and impossible to eat without eating like a caveman. I also order the pistachio martini after the girl next to me recommended, flavor was good, but they only served me half a martini compared to her full glass. Overall, I do not recommend, overpriced and bad service and food. P.S. no toilet paper or paper towel in the bathroom.
Had a great time and Braden the waiter was 100% the best waiter I’ve had in months. Was a pleasant experience. Portion for ribeye skewer was a bit light but the bread and garlic hummus made up for it. My wife loved her drink as well.
Came here with my friends as we were walking in royal oak. Got seated pretty quickly. Very pretty vibe of the restaurant and we sat outside. I didn’t appreciate how the glasses for water were dirty for all of us as they were just sitting on the table. 3 of us got the chicken kabob.and 1 got the pasta. when the kabobs arrived we were very disappointed. Extremely small portion and dry flavorless chicken and rice. Being Middle Eastern I know real kabobs and this was not it. The waitress came back and my friend sent hers back. After that she didn’t come back to check on us, refill anything or ask if we wanted to order something else. My friends pasta was the only good thing. There’s plenty other restaurants in the area that are way better and have better service.
I’m not one to post reviews but I’m pretty unhappy. Had a reservation for 7:00. got seated around 7:20ish, so not horrible but that was just the beginning.we ordered drinks and a few apps to split. the saganaki fondue (we didn’t even eat), looked watery, chunky, and all together unappetizing. the ribs were SO tough, we couldn’t even cut them with the knives provided.the service was slow and awkward, with one dish coming out at a time with about 15-20 mins in between. took about 2 hours to complete drinks and apps.vibe is cute and it was busy, but not worth the time or money spent in this establishment.
Another Royal Oak underwhelming restaurant. Beautiful inside but you can go across the street to Boukies Mediterranean for half the price with better food and larger portions. Sure it doesnt have the atmosphere but Bohemia tries to be a higher end Mediterranean restaurant and it just misses the mark. Lazy execution, no market research, and an underwhelming experience for a prime Royal Oak location. Can someone please open a restaurant with some passion and creativity around here (besides Beppe - they get it)Servers were all very friendly, however, if not the most attentive.
I hate writing bad reviews. I really do. The atmosphere was very cool. The food wes extremely disgusting. The service was a little below par. I ordered beef ribs and what I got was burnt carbon. It was burnt back to just elements. It was like eating the black stuff off a grill. The other stuff was not that good. So sad. They need to quickly learn or they will be gone fast. Service needs to pay attention better. I left a tip for not good service but because I felt sorry for the place.
Underwhelming. The atmosphere and vibe are nice inside but the food is very lackluster. There are a ton of great Middle Eastern places in the area and the food was just so dry and not appetizing. I did enjoy the cocktails but honestly would not visit here again after the experience I had.
The atmosphere was nice and my friends and I had a lovely time. However, I’m not in a rush to go back and neither is my wallet. I’ll pay good money for quality food, but $15 a drink? Not sure where they think they are but this isn’t New York. I was excited about the grilled halloumi but when it came, it was a very skimpy portion. We each had maybe half a piece between us 4. The ribeye kebab was nice but the rice pilaf tasted bland, like some Uncle Ben’s I could have boiled at home. Mediocre. Save your money.
Tl;dr - Neat atmosphere, bad food, below average drinks, below average service. Needs a menu rework and/or kitchen staff shakeup. This place is nicely decorated, and thats where the good ends. I thought about calling privately to give feedback, but I dont want anyone else to make the same mistake I did in going there. I always insist that I will write a review and follow through maybe 1-2% of the time (for extraordinary or terrible places), Bohemia inspired me.Service was below average.Drinks are below average, you can get much better for the same price elsewhere. Id say to maybe stop for one drink to check out the decorations, but I dont want to encourage you to give your hard earned money to this establishment.Idk who is cooking in the back, but the food was terrible. Burnt to carbon ribs, chicken kabob plate with 5 small pieces of chicken and barely any rice for $18. I could keep going. The dips were okay & so was the bread, but Ive had better...*cough* across the street *cough*.The most laughable part about this place is that it is across the street from BOUKIES, the best halal Lebanese food in Metro Detroit.Management/owners if you are reading this review, PLEASE rework the menu and shake up the kitchen staff. Honestly closing and reopening might be best at this point.
This place was terrible. The hostess was very rude and not welcoming. The ambiance was nice, but the food and customer service was terrible. My sister and I ordered the chicken skewers and substituted the rice with veggies. The veggies came out raw, with the “boiled” meat on top. The chicken was so dry and came chopped up on top of the raw veggies. I asked them to cook the veggies and they were not accommodating about it at all. Honestly this was the worst restaurant I visited in a while
Walked over to the bar here when we were done eating at Pearls next door. We didnt eat, but had 2 cocktails. They were very good and strong, prices were fair. The bartender was very friendly and attentive!
What a great place! The ambiance is very whimsical and you feel like your being transported out of Royal Oak! The food is DELICIOUS- I have gone here over 4 times and have yet to try a dish that wasn’t amazing. Their bar is also great - the drinks are creative and refreshing!
I went to have drinks with my girl on Wednesday night. It was such a cute place. The vibe was amazing, the drinks were made perfect, the brussel sprouts were to die for. And our server Margo was so attentive. It is a hidden gem in Royal Oak, definitely a must try. We will be back.
Dont listen to the 3.4 rating, this place was absolutely amazing, the best place I visited in Royal Oak. Drinks were amazing, the staff was amazing, the food was incredible, the decoration is amazing. It is a very clean place, has a patio for outdoor seating. I honestly dont know why this is rated so low unless some people really hated someone that works there or are just sad individuals.
I wanted to try something new so I stopped in yesterday. I sat at the bar and had a few drinks and appetizers. The bartender Margo made a few suggestions that were spot on. She made me an old-fashion and a bourbon blackberry lemonade drink. The atmosphere, drinks, and service made this a 5 star experience.
Not worth your time. Its Bohemic style with many pretty items around but also bohemic attitude. Plates are small, menu is very very limited. Entree dishes have cup of rice, two pieces of chicken, or lamb, or steak. Looks like chef has no idea for good menu or not experienced in high quality cooking. No coffee, no desert. Do not recommend. Would not come back
Place and ambiance was nice, our party did not enjoy the food unfortunately. Everything sounds good on the menu, but it did not meet our expectations. Good place for a nice ambiance and for a drink though.
First off, the space is beautiful. I can tell, much like Pinky’s upstairs, people will come just to take pictures to post on their social. A funky, eclectic mix of Mediterranean meets Mexico (?) meets tchotchkes that Grandma used to display. I loved it! So, IG worthy? Check. Now this will draw in the demographic I’m sure Bohemia is looking for. Younger, hipper, and don’t really bank on great meal as long as the drinks come in a martini glass and the lighting means less filters needed. Don’t get it twisted; I’m not saying the targeted demographic doesn’t want great food and great value, we all crave ambiance, but Bohemia just isn’t a destination for both.We had an absolutely fantastic waiter (Ethan) who was attentive without being a helicopter. He instantly made me feel like this was going to be great experience. We ordered multiple things…bread, hummus, arugula blood orange salad, spiced carrots, the cauliflower app, saganaki fondue and the chicken kabob. The bread and cauliflower are amazing! Especially that bread! Wow! Crunchy and soft and soaked in olive oil. It’s an absolute must! The hummus comes in a large bowl but it simply smeared around the bottom and sides. Presentation is important but your basically just wiping the sides of the bowl to get it. It’s passable for hummus but I wouldn’t order again. You have to order extra bread ($4 each) to have anything to dip in it. It doesn’t come with it. That’s fine, the bread is worth it. The sagonaki (?) fondue was basically a dry, lumpy cottage cheese like mess in this small skillet. Not creamy at all. Another item that doesn’t come with anything to dip in it. So you either buy more bread (but so good!) or eat it with a spoon? Who knows? We took one taste and didn’t touch it any further. The carrots are grilled and I love that char but they were incredibly under done, with a hot red pepper sauce on them. Meh. I was hoping for something in the same vein as BigaLora down the road, which has the most incredible carrots. It’s carrots! Who gets excited about carrots? This girl! The salad was unremarkable. Pistachios are a theme here. They seem to put them in most dishes and, while I love pistachios, they couldn’t salvage the carrots or salad. The chicken kabob was the biggest let down. Served pretty dang dry, with a scoop of very dry rice. It didn’t have any grill marks or char and would probably benefit from a sauce or two to add moisture and flavor. So at the end, I would go back for bread, to try the pistachio(!) martini and maybe for dinner if someone else was paying. The food just didn’t “complete” the experience. It’s fairly new and they will work out the kinks here and there, the owners are a successful restaurant group, so they hopefully know where tweaks are needed. Lots of style over substance.
Came on a tuesday and the place was pretty dead. however despite that, food took an hour to come out. waitress was im personable and might have been either new to serving or inexperienced. Food was great though and the inside is gorgeous but they need better cook times and a more attentive wait staff
So impressed that we went back the next day!. The best service ever! Amil was my server. He is Fantastic! And Ethan and Breaden were awesome. Food is good also. You gotta eat here!
I really enjoyed coming here. The humus and lamb were so delicious. Our server Braden G was great! He was very kind and attentive.
Stopped in there last week and Margo served us. She made great cocktail recommendations and an off menu creative cocktail that I loved. We will be back for more drinks.
Great cozy interior! My friends and I sat at the bar towards the end of the night and had a relaxing and cozy last call. The plants, textures, and rhinos are all fun to look at and enjoy.
Came here for my daughter’s 14th birthday and had the most delicious food and the best service. Beautiful place. Great drinks and food. Ethan was a wonderful server!
Brussel sprouts, halloumi, Kaffa bread we’re all goodcauliflower was not seasoned well and quite plainLamb Kafta was a little disappointing. Seasoning was little bland
I wish I could give zero stars. There is no such thing as Israeli food/cuisine. This restaurant is one big cultural appropriation of Palestinian culture. Please do not support this business.
Food was fantastic! I came here with my family for my daughter’s birthday. Braden was our server and he was fantastic! Will definitely come here again
Great place with good food and outstanding service. So glad we stumbled upon this place. I was very surprised to see low reviews but glad we did not pay attention to them. It will not be disappointed.
Great time, great atmosphere and food. Our waiters Amil and Ethan provided awesome insights on the menu too.
Horrible service, horrible food, and drinks tasted like floor cleaner (the white rhino). Nothing more to say. Disappointed. Two stars because of the atmosphere.
The food was great, our server Jenna was wonderful. We will be back.
Tasty apps and fun drinks in a fun, bright setting, but sadly food quality and service is incredibly poor.
Ribeye shishkob meat was chewy and not high quality. Also prices are high
Beautiful atmosphere...very small portions and overpriced. Add small plates to the name as a heads up.
Bad service, sub-average food. Theres a reason they have open reservations on open table.
Brayden G was the best! Food was great and the ambiance was amazing!
Amazing drinks. Great service. Food is fantastic.
The drinks were amazing, thank you Margo!
This place is so indie by the decor i love it
