Enter into serenity! This is Asha. From the moment you walk through the door, the vibe is felt. Initially, I planned on sauna only but ended up trying all the bath house amenities soak, sauna, steam, cold bath AND bucket. The eucalyptus sauna was my personal favorite.

Friendly & welcoming staff in the reception area.Condescending staff member treated me like a child. Pool appears clean with nice temperatures. Lots of puddles of pooled up water on the floor- many other clients have suggested putting drains in yet it has not happened. As you are not allowed to have phone/camera with you, I have no photos of items mentioned. Was hoping for a better experience.

I understand that the bath house cannot control how loud people talk but it was the least relaxing place I’ve been. In the saunas these girls were whispering super loud and laughing, in the hot tub same thing you could hear the giggles from the sauna. It defiantly took away from the experience.Massage that i had was relaxing but not the best.

For the price I wasnt that impressed. Ive been to bath houses around the world and this place is missing a few key elements and its quite expensive to not have them. One would be along with the 2 warm pools they have they need a jacuzzi or some type of pool with a jet or waterfall to massage body parts. The steam room is a little small. Saunas are a decent size.I just feel for the price its expensive for what they dont offer.

Had a good time overall. We booked a massage and a couple of hours in the baths. Got there at the start time of the massage, and the front ladies rushed us in. Which was great. But we never got reintroduced, so we found ourselves looking around for things afterward.Overall, the experience was a good one. The saunas were my favorite part. The hot tubs were nice, too.Definitely try the cold plunge!! Why not!! You are already there! I couldnt stay in for long but the numbness afterward was interesting!!

Super relaxing and great atmosphere. There are two warm pools, one cold plung, two saunas, and a steam room. The first sauna is my personal favorite. It is in the room attached to the locker area. This sauna does not have eucalyptus oil. The oil was harsh on my eyes. If youre not sensitive like I am, you will have both to choose from. The oil isnt overwhelming. Again, Im just sensitive.I love that you are required to shower after the sauna/steam room before reentering the pools. Keeps everything sanitary. The locker room is coed. There are individual changing rooms. I wasnt aware there would be men when I walked in, so it was a shock. I only mention it to make sure youre not surprised. In the back area, there are two buckets. THOSE ARE FILLED WITH COLD WATER! COLD FREAKING WATER. I was not aware. I thought it was a funky type of shower. Since they are near the shower heads. It is for after the sauna to cool you down. I would like to set the scene.I am laughing with my friend. We just got out of the eucalyptus sauna, Im overheated (bc I was having too much fun and stayed in a tad too long. Its totally my fault) The warm pool is filled with people. Im under the bucket against the farthest wall, facing the pool. I pull the chain and am ASSAULTED by liquid chaos. I screamed, and my knees buckled, and I couldnt breathe. (The voice volume required by Asha is a whisper) I look up to EVERYONE in the pool, laughing. In hindsight, it was the best part of the day. Not the most relaxing, but I cant wait to go back.

Sigh. Why cant Sacramento do this right. Were a big city, and enough people who desire a traditional, peaceful bath house experience must live here, right? Where are they? And where are the staff who should be maintaining said environment? Good grief - was like a sorority house when we were here. Just ick. Gab, gab, gab, blah, blah, blah, loud, loud, LOUD.For the immediate term: Perhaps make the front of the house the gabbing zone and make the back of the house the quiet zone? Better yet, just enforce quiet throughout.Just zip it or take it back to the sauna at your midtown loft. For the longer term - to the owner and staff: Set the precedent and enforce it. Lead. Teach Sacramentans how its done. Not long ago, we didnt have good coffee, chocolate, beer or really good food. Such strides this city has made. Perhaps soon, well have a true bathhouse.

My favorite find of Sacramento exploration so far. The design is very cool, they leaned into some experimental exposed framing and bricks and I think it turned out well. Everything felt clean and maintained well. Love the quiet aspect and I really like the separate buildings with similar features it makes a great circuit. 2 hours feels like the right amount too it didnt feel rushed but I never felt bored. I celebrated my birthday with a small group of friends here as I have visited bath houses in both Asia and Europe and love the concept. The price was also very affordable and thought it was a great activity to do with the girls.Unfortunately the experience was just okay. They had us change and get ready in their overflow locker room which would have been uncomfortably close for 4 people, however we had 6 people in total and they kept bringing other people in to show them where they would put their stuff and had them wait outside the door. We felt rushed getting out of the way, which was a feat since the floors were soaked with puddles and there was only a very small amount of counter space. So we were sort of juggling our stuff and playing human Tetris to try to get to the lockers. The spa baths were nice but there were only 2 medium sized pools that felt to be of a very similar temperature. One had essential oils which was nice. On top of that, they were in fairly small rooms that echo so if there is a just a handful of people in them the room tends to get loud easily despite our best efforts in whispering. For the most part, we would be kindly reminded to quiet down by the staff.HOWEVER, there was one point where about 3-4 separate groups were in the larger bath and an employee came out of what was called the Green room to aggressively quiet everyone down and began threatening to kick us out if we didn’t keep the noise level down. We all looked around so confused at each other because we thought we were all doing a very diligent job in whispering. She told us that if we wanted to be social we had to go into the courtyard… which happened to be right next to this room with the wall of windows open, so I’m not sure how that would have reduced the noise. It was also raining heavily and so wasn’t really an option. At that point, we were just over the experience and so we chose to end our session 30 mins early… and so began the difficult experience of changing back into our clothes in the previously stated locker closet.I wanted to share our experience with the front of staff, however we were never asked how our experience was, but rather just took our payment while also working to check-in other clients.I feel that they really had a great idea with putting this in Sacramento, however I feel that the space and layout of the facility really requires a very limited amount of people at a time… they really seemed be focused on packing in as many customers as possible which detracted from the overall experience and negated the reason for being there - to relax!I don’t want to knock too hard on the staff because most of them were very lovely to us, apart from just seeming busy. The one exception was the angry staff member… maybe more customer service training there?!I would be willing to try this place again, but perhaps will save it for a weekday.

Absolutely incredible experience. I came here for my bachelorette/bridal shower weekend and had the most amazing time. The different options for water and sauna temperature made the experience accessible to everyone, and having the outdoor relaxation space made it even more so. The girls could bring books to read and other things to do when they werent relaxing at the different stations. Even the showers and locker rooms are thoughtfully appointed. Truly, the quality of what you get for the cost is a steal. I wish I still lived locally so I could come more often! Id be here every month.

11/17/23: I’m updating this review after going to Asha again - we were treated SO disrespectfully by a staff. After enjoying a session of peace and quiet, we were walking out and she yelled at us for having a quiet conversation on the way out. We have no problem following the rules that create a peaceful atmosphere, It was the most rude I’ve ever been treated at Asha, Absolutely unacceptable, uncalled for,and disrespectful.09/23: We love Asha, what a great place to enjoy and relax. I really appreciate that there is always a wide range a folks enjoying Asha. Given this, I find it really disappointing that they do not have size inclusive resources such a towels. This seems like such an easy thing to address but they towels are so small and dont often fit folks comfortably. Hope they resolve this so everyone can enjoy!

I went for a birthday treat and it was a wonderful experience. The sound immersion is different and I can see how it might not be for everyone but I did feel rested and relaxed at the end and want to try it again. For first time customers, it would be nice if staff took the time to walk through the place and even provide a written example of how one might want to try things. We were given information verbally and shown the lockers and where to change and then pointed in the direction of where other things are located. We had to go back to the front desk to confirm where to meet the massage therapist. Perhaps a video walk-thru on the website could help. Massage was wonderful and I would go back!. I tipped at checkout but really wanted to tip just for the massage. I agree with the prior comment about tipping. It does not seem appropriate for the use of the place and for me, took away from the experience.

Great place, but they cant seem to get customers to follow the rules. There seems to be a number of frequent abusers that for some reason get a hall pass over others. With two separate areas you might want to have one space available for light conversion and the other no conversion that is strictly enforced to include removal from the facility without a refund. Have people sign an electronic waiver that they follow the rules or they will be removed.

My wife and I really like Asha but our past few times haven’t been as good as they could be. They definitely market themselves as a quiet space, with signs all over reminding you to whisper. But naturally many people don’t follow these guidelines. The employees have never managed the sound level when we’re there, even though they said they would. When we mentioned the noise level their response was it’s busy on the weekend, try coming back during a weekday when it’s slower.

Cool experience, but I literally got so sick from coming here. I guess I couldve expected that with a shared steam room, but ... overall gross experience. When I was in the pool people would NOT stop talking and no one asked them to. Not a super relaxing experience to be in a pool and hear a bunch of people talking about work. Fun in theory, not in practice. The floors in the locker room were filthy as well. I dropped my shirt on the ground and it got covered in dark brown dirt-water, so I had to throw the shirt away. Read review on why I took off a star.My 2nd visit was a few days ago, 5/31. My husband booked this special surprise for me. He booked massage at the time they open, 10am. I got there a few minutes early, but decided to wait in car thinking doors opened right at 10am. I walked in at 10am... Long story short, by the time I got situated with my locker and walked to the back, massage got started at about 10:10ish. Low and behold my 50 minute massage stopped at exactly 10:50. I lost over 10 minutes. Although I understand they must respect next appointment and so forth, I let the front desk know that when they called to remind him of my appointment no one made him aware doors would be open prior to 10am and/or that I should be there 15 minutes early. Plus, it wasnt like I was late. I walked in at exactly 10am. I was taken aback a bit when one of the ladies at the front desk who was probably the manager on site said, well Im sure he got an email and it says it to arrive 15 minutes early. I just wish they would have made it super clear doors open 945 not 10am. I also wish the front desk nice gal would have rushed me a bit and let me know to hurry into my massage since they stop exactly after 50 minutes of my appointment time. I dont know if that was her fault for not rushing me or she didnt know my therapist would stop at exactly 10:50. So thats why I took 1 star off. The bathhouse facility itself is great! Love courtyard and annex pool! Now for my massage experience, I would rate it 3 out of 5 ⭐ 1st time getting one here and probably be my last. It was not great, but it wasnt bad. It was decent, cant complain, it was a massage. Wasnt as relaxed at the end as I have been when I have received other professional massages.I dont know, maybe those extra 10 minutes I lost would have made a difference? My massage therapist was nice and made me feel comfortable and seem to have knowledge about anatomy, etc.But overall, good spot for some quiet self care. Fee to use facilities for 2 hours is worth it!

Just the bathhouse area is worth it.They have 2 hot baths, 1 cold plunge bath, 2 cold dump buckets, two dry saunas and a steam room. I went here with my daughter, as a Mothers Day present. It was a great experience! We went on a Tuesday evening, from 5:00 to 7:30. When we first checked in, it was very busy, but the process went smoothly. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The changing rooms, lockers, and bathrooms were very clean and well-maintained. The vibe was chill and fairly quiet. A few conversations were going on in the common areas, but nothing really above a whisper, for the most part. The steam rooms were always full, but the sauna only had 2-4 ppl in it at any given time. The Essential Oil Sauna had a lovely Eucalyptus aroma! The Cold Water Buckets were amazingly refreshing! I was chicken, and didnt try the Cold Water Plunge...this time, but everyone who did said the water was freezing, but very stimulating and therapeutic! The 2 Hot Water Pools were heavenly! The temperature was perfect...not too hot, but hot enough for tired, achy muscles to receive great relief. Although the Hot Pools could easily hold 15 - 20 ppl, we didnt see more than 10 ppl at a time. The outdoor community area had a nice long deck where ppl would sit and sunbathe. They had several covered & uncovered spaces to sit and lounge, with a variety of furniture choices. Great decore...simple yet inviting. One incredible thing we noticed was none of the outdoor spaces had any insects, no flies, bees, or mosquitoes... which added to the overall enjoyment of that lovely space! We will definitely be returning...often!

The first time I came it was a much needed respite and revitalization… both me and my fiancé needed our muscles to relax as both our jobs are demanding on the body sometimes. The second time we were not so lucky, they don’t have any kind of training for the staff to be competent enough to handle emergency situations in case of anyone fainting. They had to rely on a nurse who happened to be a patron that day and the kindness of myself and another lady (that frazzled our nerves half to death to get a tall and big man) to get staff aware of what was going on and to get him water. They barely could get themselves collected enough to call the ambulance calmly. Not only were we not offered any coupon for another visit or something to smooth over the experience but still asked for gratuity but thanked profusely for my help. I was shocked 😳… my first experience was nothing like this. I don’t know what’s going on with this business other than they are the only ones in town and therefore get overcrowded and overwhelmed easily. The front desk doesn’t provide tissues everywhere and getting them to provide something seems to feel like a big deal but in turn they still know to ask for tips. I’m a homecare provider and a CNA for over 10 years… trust when I say I understand serving people. But our profession still helping the health of others has NEVER been one to ask for gratuity. If a business wants to claim health advocacy why ask for gratuity?? Especially when it’s not a coffee shop and should not be compared to one. 🤷🏻‍♀️

First time at Asha, and came in for a prenatal massage. The massage was okay. This was my second prenatal massage and the setup was different, where you lay on your side. Personally not a fan of that technique. Each side of the body is divided in half and it felt choppy. My massage was also cut a little short even tho I was on time and waiting in the lobby. But my main concern was Asha pairing the massage with the bathhouse. As a pregnant woman, studies show risk in heating core body temp and birth defects. Idk if that’s built into the price? If it is, they should consider an alternative like the salt room instead. Or remove it altogether. At the same time, the bathhouse is so small! I wish the soaking area was at least double the size. I was shocked how many people were in the waters and there were still people checking in. That’s not a relaxing environment. Plus everything is co-ed from change rooms to bathrooms. It’d be nice to consider women only hours.

The staff is super friendly! However, upon walking into the bathhouse I was stunned at how many people were there wow. Luckily I was starting in the salt room. It was odd (especially the beanbags lol) but something different and it was ok. I fell asleep and felt relaxed. Then, it was my turn for the bathhouse and since some people had left, I was comfortable enough to dip in. The cold plunge was so cold and it felt great! The steam and sauna are a bit small but they’re fine... the problem is everyone wants to socialize here! I just wanted time to myself so it was a little challenging to get that with everyone being so chatty.I was off to my massage and it started out painful so I asked for lighter pressure. I had to ask again but then it was ok. Half way through the massage the AC came on and was blowing right on me so I was freezing! Also the sheets weren’t on the massage table the right way so the therapist kept pulling them down and rearranging.. the music got louder and louder it felt it just wasn’t very relaxing which was a bummer.Overall, it’s affordable and the only spa-type thing in Sacramento. I wish I loved it but it’s just not for me.

I’ve been to Asha Urban Baths three times now and absolutely love this place! Such a great place to unwind and relax. Once your inside you completely forget about the outside world. Dim lighting and soft music is so nice. Very clean and well kept! The staff are so nice and friendly and the owner Cori is wonderful! Plan to stay at least 2 hours to fully get the experience. Bring bathing suits to shower in and wear during your soaks. Nice outdoor patio in the back to have lunch or read. Can’t wait to visit again!

I’ve been going to bath houses in Asia since I was a kid and know the therapeutic benefits. Who doesn’t like being in a quiet space with warm water and heat to help detox the day away? When I heard that ASHA was opening I was really excited to try it out. I’ve been here more than a few times and have done a few of the pampering packages (yoga, massage and bathhouse) and done drop ins for just the bathhouse as well. The prices are reasonable and I like that you get a locker with a key and bath shoes and towels included. They have full use showers so if you’re headed out to meet people/work you can clean up after your bath time and dry your hair etc. Although I found after a couple of hours of soaking I’m so relaxed that all I want is a nap!The staff has always been friendly and the space is clean. It IS small though, and they only have 1 hot water pool, and a small cold plunge pool. They have both dry and wet saunas which are nice. Most patrons are respectful and quiet. They come for the same reason I do which is to have peace, reflection and relaxation. If people are loud the staff are quick to come and ask them to be quiet for those others that are there. It’s self regulating but sometimes I think people can be unaware of how loud they are as noise echoes in the pool area.I’ve loved the massages I’ve received there. Every masseuse has been experienced and really listened to what my body needed. They have a very small parking lot, so keep that in mind although there is usually plenty of street parking.A great place if you’re looking for something relaxing to do by yourself or with friends.

Was here yesterday. Note for some reviews they are talking about the massage, and others just about the bath house. Two different things. I didnt get a massage, nor do you have to to go and experience it. If you love Saunas and a super clean and friendly staff (shorter girl with dark hair that works there is very friendly) then check it out. I thought it was absolutely awesome and a legit perfect way to spend some money. As far as COVID. I went mid week mid morning and I had saunas and even the baths to myself. It was easy to avoid being close to people and spread out / wear masks.Overall 10/10 and really what more could you ask for? Saunas, showers, warm pools, cold dip, lawn chairs to soak in some sun in between saunas.

I just recently visited this place for the first time. Ive never been to a place like this. I dont typically like to be around people, strangers, especially soaking in hot tubs, but it was pretty cool. Everyone just kinda does their own thing so I didnt feel so self conscious. I was under the impression that the main hot tub contained the salt water but it didnt. The cold plunge tub has the salt water. That was slightly disappointing but it was my own misconception sooo...It was nice, relaxing. I went with 3 friends and we had a good time. The staff are fantastic. They are so warm, welcoming and friendly. Definitely the quintessence of all things customer service. I look forward to returning to Asha soon!!*I was mistaken in my initial review. The hot tub does contain salt water. Go check it out for a great relaxing time!

I’ve been going here since 2017. I really enjoyed everything about this place. Until recently on Valentine’s Day I had the worst experience. My mother and myself saw 2 women washing the private parts with their bare hands in front us. Then touched all over the soap pumps. Then a man came in and tossed all of his belongings on top of my towel. I asked him to move it, he looked at me an continue to shower. I ended my bathhouse experience soon after because I felt uncomfortable. We told the lady at the desk about it. She gave us $5 off our drop in. The experience made me not really want to come back. The staff are really nice people though! I did enjoy my first experience in the salt room.

Im so glad this place exists in Sacramento. When I was in Japan, I developed a bit of a public bath fixation. And this place really draws from that tradition. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, everyone there is very nice and respectful. Overall, its a relaxing and enjoyable place to be. There is a large, warm soaking pool. Its not as hot as most hot tubs, so you can sit in it longer without feeling like youre going to pass out. There is a steam room and a sauna. And also a cold dip pool, which is my favorite part. Taking a cold dip after getting hot in the sauna is the best. If youre curious, you really should give this place a shot. You might just like it.

This place is magical. I booked a massage for myself at 3pm and wasnt sure how much time to allot for bath house enjoyment before, so I erred on the side of caution with an hour and a half. I was able to do quite a few rounds of sauna, cold plunge, repeat, finished off with the warm pool. The I dried off and waited for my massage therapist Tim while reveling in a blissed-out state in an Adirondack chair. The massage was incredible. Everything was so relaxing and soul-replensihing. I was nervous about not knowing what to do, being the awkward first-timer, but you just hop in a sauna or the warm pool, relax, and get into the groove of the place. So looking forward to the annex thats coming soon, and visiting with friends sometime, to take advantage of the social courtyard space. So beautiful and well-thought-out!

Somewhat torn on this review, but Ill go with 4 stars. Ive been there a couple of times. You must call ahead to make certain there is enough room if youre dropping in. So in fact there isnt a true drop-in if its busy, such as a weekend afternoon. Yet, I appreciate the management decision to have customers wait as long as an hour since it prevents overcrowding. If you drop in and its busy you can leave then youll get a text from the Asha giving you 10 min to return. The Broadway coffee shop is a great place to wait because its walking distance. The bath house is clean and quiet, very relaxing, and a great getaway if you can plan it. In summary, if you can plan your visit Asha is a 4 star bath house.Tip - Bring a couple of your towels to save on the towel rental fee. The current visit price not including the salt lounge is $30. See the Asha Urban Baths website for pictures.

My biggest issue is they don’t have real baths. The “baths” are barely warm enough to be room temperature and are HEAVILY chlorinated. You would be better off using the hot tub at your gym. This is a very relaxing bathhouse and everyone respected the rule to keep conversations to a whisper. There is ample room for 6 or more people in the first bath and 10 or more in the larger one in the annex. You want to bring two towels. I had a wonderful experience there today! It was sooooo relaxing and I enjoyed every minute of it. I made an appointment ahead of time for the 11am salt room and they told me I could use the bathhouse before and after my appointment. There was only a few people there when I arrived at 10:15 and I had the hot soak to myself for a bit. They recommended switching back and forth between the hot and the cold for the best benefits. I got brave enough to do the cold plunge a few times but was only able to last a few seconds. They said it gets easier as you do it more. Make sure to stay hydrated. I’ll bring an electrolyte drink next time. I wish I hadn’t waited 3 years to come here! If you are on the fence just do it! Great for your health and very affordable!Items I recommend bringing if doing the salt room and bathhouse:1. Flip flops or shower shoes with good traction (I almost slipped on the wet floor)2. Two or three towels3. Change of clothes- long pants and T-shirt or tank top and sweater or jacket4. Book or magazine (rest on chairs between cycles) or read in the hot tub5. Two swimsuits (so you don’t have to get back in your wet suit after the salt room)6. Shower toiletries, comb, lotion for afterwards7. Snacks8. Cozy socks for salt room9. Reusable non glass water bottle10. Electrolyte tablets

Relaxing environment, nice visual aesthetic. However, I feel the music playing does not match the visual environment. Pachelbels Canon does not seem like a good background tune for a place considering itself urban. I also didnt like besides the chlorine & salt there was no minerals in the water to help heal or detox or relax the body like most bath establishment Ive gone too. The people posting 4-5 stars about this place must be part of the clique. After the holidays Ive been looking forward to an evening at Asha. All day I was thinking great thoughts about my night of relaxation. I check the google busy times analytics and it shows that between 7pm and 10pm this place really slows down from its busy time mid day. So I drive the 6 miles into town for my me time. I arrive and was turned away. Extremely disappointed. This is now the 2nd time Ive been turned away from this establishment. Apparently these is some party going on tonight and they are not letting anyone else in. The parking lot was not full and as I said......google analytics shows that saturday night business is roughly 1/2 of the business they get during a Saturday afternoon. They offered to put me on a wait list but could not guarantee how long the wait would be. Well I wasnt about to drive 6 miles back home to wait for them to tell me that the private party had ended and I could come back.Honestly, if youre going to run a business that has a capacity issue, then you should either require reservations so that people can plan ahead for their visit and not run the risk of having you turn them away or you should have time limits so that people cannot stay for several hours. You also should consider becoming a private club and let people who arent in the yoga clique know that they are not welcome.Sadly Im back at home and running a bath and considering telling everyone that Ive encouraged to patronize this business in the past to proceed with caution.

I am really confused and disappointed on why we had to wait so long to get in. This last Saturday, my fiance and I had to wait almost an hour (58 minutes according to the texts they sent me) to get called back. We were only the 2nd in line. Not a terrible wait for something so awesome, but when we finally did get called in, the place was empty. There was only one other couple in the heated water and Not one person in the sauna or the steam room. Then, when we checked out, the receptionist commented on how slow it was that day...so confused. It was very late last year but I have been in Asha when there were at least 12 other people back there. I am really disappointed with the changes and if its a compliance/safety issue, it needs to be handled better. Now, I admit that I liked the the fact it wasnt busy this time and I have really enjoyed going to Asha in the past but if I have to wait an hour for what seems like no good reason, then its not worth the price of admission.

The other patrons who were just as noisy and in the wrong were unjustly given a refund. I will never patronize this business again!
