Nice open floor plan. Not too big and not too small. The drink prices are HIGH!! 2 drinks, one with a double shot was $36. Theres no dedicated kitchen, but there was a caterer. The art is nice and theres a stage for performances. The seating is...um... not the best. Overall a chill spot though if youre looking for a weekend stop

Came in on a Friday night and was very disappointed by the terrible service received from the moment we walked in no one greeted us besides the security and once we sat down all the staff were sitting down smoking hookah and didn’t acknowledge us at all. We sat and waited for 20 mins before we left and no one asked us if we wanted to order anything and on top of that there were only 4 people including us and two other people so they weren’t busy! I’ve been to House of Soul multiple times and this is probably the worst experience I’ve ever had! Do Better!

I’m giving these place 2 stars because when we came in it was almost empty it was 11 o’clock they still charge us $20 price is too much for 2 1/2 hours to get in plus the drinks are price too high two drinks was $30. They don’t even give you a nice glass it’s in a plastic cup, the service was OK. She kept coming back to check but y’all are overcharging & overpriced and who is over this place who is the management of this place?? because they don’t even check the reviews to even respond back like y’all don’t even care about the place of business like it’s really sad and I know it’s a black owner.

Well the facility used to be ran by a local family and back then they really had a handle on how to treat people. Im not sure whos running the club now the cover was free however my security had to pay $10 because his shirt didnt have a logo and they had shirts for sell at the front door, even though I was personally envited by the headliner of the night.Also when the headliner took a break for the second half of the show she had to wait at the bar for a drink but other than that the guest showed up in a great number of support.Other than that that was my experience.

Relaxed and laid back atmosphere for anyone. Live music, good food and the drinks were excellent with beautiful service. We will most definitely be returning again soon

The owner has the nastiest attitude that I’ve seen; especially being that she’s black and majority of her customers are black. The customer service at this place is the worse I’ve seen in the Stl area. I wouldn’t expect the customer service to be good because the owner is rude, therefore why would she expect anything different from her staff. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend this places at all.

Drinks too high $24.00 for a double jack...! Ridiculous...Hell thats how much the whole 5th of jack costs!

Never been here, but the atmosphere was so chill. Drinks were strong, social distancing enforced and security was on point as well. Will definitely come back

Visited March 12,2023 from Arkansas. We really enjoyed ourselves. The security guard and the lady that found us seats was very nice and professional. The owner came over and introduced herself was very nice. The vibe was very awesome. We will be back the next time we in St Louis..

First time and not happy. Paid for VIP SEATS and was given general seats! The manager was horrible. Paid $90 dollars for a booth and got nothing! Bad first impression, and the sad thing it was hubby birthday.

The atmosphere was cool, staff pleasant, music had a good vibe, but if you do not arrive when the doors open and hold seats you will not be sitting at this venue. Arrived at 9:20PM and was told about the 2 drink minimum, but not the venue was now standing room only. I really hoped to stay and enjoy the band, but it was not comfortable while standing. It appeared to be plenty more room to add a few more tables and chairs but no accommodations were provided. We did inquire aboutthe only seating that was available, and we were told we would have to purchase a bottle for $185 for seating for 6. Or purchase 2 bottles at $185 each to accommodate our party of 7. We left and went to Bee Bees and paid the $15 cover and enjoyed music, drinks and friends while seated.

Great vibes & friendly staff. I hadnt been in a couple of years and was pleased to see the service has not changed. We celebrated my moms 57th birthday and had a great time.

Took a lift to this club Friday night and it was closed. Waste of money and time!

Very spacious venue for lounging & dancing, inspiring decor, well-stocked bar & a nice hors doeuvre spread.

Relaxing! Enjoyable! Great entertainment! Respectful! Just an awesome place to be, to have fun and enjoy!

This place use to be my go to spot on Saturday and some times on Fridays, but the last time I visited on 11/28/22, my brother and I went inside.. paid our entry and was walked to our seats, which was along the walls directly in the middle. Now as soon as I was about to take a seat my brother saw 2 ROACHES crawling up the wall. I then said EWWW BRO, GET THEM, thats nasty. So my brother grabbed the waitress and informed her about the bugs.. she then decided to seat us at thehigh round tables and continued to check on us asking if we were okay...needless to say we left after being there for only 10 minutes because I JUST COULDNT RELAX and ENJOY MYSELF after seeing ROACHES...no wonder the lights are always off..makes me wonder do they really clean up in there. SORRY house of soul

I booked a booth the day before my birthday which was a Friday night. Doors open up at 7 but no one was there at 7 but the bouncer. The bartenders arrived close to 8. I get there after 8, no one knows what booth I reserved and no sign of the hostess or owner. The DJ did not arrive until 9:30, so there was no music inside. There was a food truck outside playing music by the patio. The only plus. Then my booth ended up being a table pushed up against the wall with chairs. For the price I paid, they couldve at least sectioned it off! That was not a booth! They couldve just told me there were no available booths. DO NOT BOOK A BOOTH UNLESS U CAN VERIFY ITS AN ACTUAL BOOTH. The place was unorganized, and the owner was rude & dismissive. How do you run a business like this? Everything was done via text, which is also unprofessional & impersonal. Its better to just walk in before 9 & save some seats. DO NOT BOOK A BOOTH, or you will get a table close to everyone else, bumping into you & all in your space. The 2 stars are for the bartenders & the DJ. The music was a good mix of old school & it did get packed around 10:30.

Cute club but they don’t need to host brunch ever again. People who only paid for brunch weren’t even able to sit at real tables. They were sat at small table what lambs in your living room on on. Please stick to being a club and that breakfast was terrible and cold. The waffles were definitely Eggo Waffles. And the eggs and grits were watery. Won’t pay to go here for brunch ever again.

I went on 8/28 for the Michael Jackson tribute. Got there early to ensure me and my group had seating. It was nice at first but I ended up being disappointed. The singer, who had a beautiful voice, only sang maybe 2 MJ songs and by about 9:15 it became so packed! There was no security, no one checking people as they came in and no one was really wearing masks. The crowd dynamics changed quickly! In the beginning it was a nice older crowd then it shifted. Me and my party left and probably won’t be going back. It’s too much going on out here to be in places like that!

I enjoyed it immensely! It was a short stay, for I had another engagement. Great decor, exposed brick, private outdoor patio which featured a mobil cigar bar, the art, the stage and cabaret seating was on point! I wouldve loved valet parking.

I love going here because the vibe is lit. DJ always lit. My issue is, it USED to be free. It’s now $10. The owner Nicole claims she doesn’t charge every week but the last two time I came I paid. I asked her about the cover and she said you can’t go anywhere for free, they have a DJ, and things are cheap. Ok, so I paid for me and the ppl who were with me. We then went to the restroom where there was no soap, and of course there’s no kitchen in the building. They did have someone there selling food last night. And the drinks are not cheap. If I’m going to pay to get in somewhere, I want it to be worth it. At least have some soap and more places to sit. I gave three stars because the DJ always understands the assignment.

A quality experience. Thats what you get at the House of Soul. You notice it as soon as you walk in; an understated elegance thats comfortable yet classy. From the exposed brick on the walls to the original artwork hanging on them, theres a relaxed yet elevated atmosphere. Theres live music on Friday and Saturday evening and lots of room to dance! The drinks are delicious, potent and reasonably priced! The House of Soul has become my spot!

My fiancé and I have patronized this establishment many times for the past couple of years and have even recommended to friends. We love the ambiance and vibes and would come for date night from time to time. We even made the best out of the Valentine’s Day event, when there was no heat at all and they were warming the place up with space heaters (everyone was freezing), because the live music was on point and we enjoy the grown and sexy atmosphere that is difficult to find in STL. About a month ago, we stopped in for the first time in a while after going to dinner. We walked in around 8pm when thw live music had just started. There was no security at the door so we just went straight to the bar to order drinks. We immediately went to find seating and enjoy the show. After about 15 minutes, the owner came to our table to tell us that white T-shirts are not allowed. My fiancé was wearing a suede ivory shirt with jeans and casual shoes. We were trying to explain to her that his shirt was not of t shirt material and was also not white. The lights were dim so we understood that it was probably difficult to tell, but at the same time she refused to listen. She went on to tell us that security may be coming soon and will probably escort us out. We waited a couple minutes then see what would happen, and then took it upon ourselves to leave. We came to this decision because of the lack of professionalism that we experienced. If there had been security at the door, this issue could have been resolved either way before entering the building that night. Furthermore we would not have wasted our time or money if security had been there to begin with. We also noticed that there were other men there with colored t shirts with teddy bears on them and wearing sneakers. It just didn’t make any sense to at all. In conclusion, we will not be supporting this business again.Best,A Loyal Customer

We showed up from another state for a poetry event that I purchased online tickets for. I purchased tickets on eventbrite almost two months in advance in anticipation for my weekend getaway. When we arrived the doors were locked and nobody was in sight. There is a contact number that goes directly to a personal voice-mail. I received a text that simply stated that the event was cancelled. No information on a refund and no more conversation after that! Unprofessional!!!!

I’ve been to House of Soul a few times this most recent visit was for my birthday; though me and my group enjoyed ourselves, FOR THE PRICE THAT WE PAID did not level up to the experience we were expecting….our server SUCKED im sorry there was no other way to say it but, we waiting on her for drinks and to bring the bottle out and she up on stage doing mic night 😒 anyways once we finally got the bottle I asked her for cups; cus how are we going to drink the champagne right? NEVER CAME W/ CUPS I had to literally just pour the champagne in ppl mouths…overall had we had better VIP service I would’ve had a better review; im dissappointed honestly as mentioned before I’ve been down there more then once so this was a returning visit…

Came to St Louis from Chicago for an event at House of Soul. I love the space and that it is located downtown. Very youthful and mix of intergenerational crowd. Great place to hear live music from residents. People are very interactive.

I think its a nice place to chill and have a couple of drinks and listen to good music. Crazy that we cant use cash since we have to pay to get in. Everyone does not have a vemo, cash app, or whatever.

Beautiful, vibrant decor and the Bartenders are awesome. I had a blast. Music was a good mix up of old school & new school. Super chill spot. Definitely my kind of place.

I went to the House of soul on Easter Sunday for an event they had we paid $130 sum dollars fr the v.I.p it was a brunch,painting with live dj and free mamosas….but let me tell the vibe and the music was great but the food was TRASH it was cold no sesoning and they made our plates i though it was gon be a buffet !!!we had a 1/4 of a waffle one chicken wing the fruit was2 pieces of cut strawberries 3 grapes 2 blueberries 1 cut pineapple it was horrible it was NOT worth my money never again oh and the bathroom had no soap

I had the greatest time. Music was great, band was great. Owner was a the epitome of hospitality and customer service. Cant wait till the next live jazz concert. Thanks

Recieved second degree burn from faulty hookah, VIP section and staff was trash, drinks and hookah overpriced. Understaffed, unorganized, unprofessional and inexperienced. Nice solo artist, hope business improves would like to revisit.
