Came to celebrate a birthday and everything was phenomenal. We stayed on Seven (adults only floor) and loved it. It has light snacks for breakfast, during the day, and happy hour 5-7. The concierge service was amazing. Everyone we encountered at the pool, walking, bars, restaurants were courteous and happy help. Dinner at Signature was out of this world! You must reserve ahead of time. Our reservation wasn’t found but they were able to still accommodate us. It was a wonderful birthday weekend and can’t wait to return!

This is a beautiful resort that provides exceptional service. I believe they meticulously hire individuals with great personalities and stellar service. Everyone we encountered here was extremely helpful, always smiled and gave eye contact when speaking with us. Carlos was one of the most memorable staff members. He assisted us with our belongings and checked in on us frequently throughout our visit. The staff at the front always greeted everyone passing by.The layout and design of the place is stunning throughout. The restroom stalls on the lobby floor are very clean and spacious. There are numerous places to eat on site. The lobby area furniture is comfortable to sit in and their courtyard has a beautiful view of you want to eat breakfast out there. As for the rooms they are a bit outdated. They are not as impressive and the queen size bed I slept on kept making noises when I turned throughout the night or got up. Everything in the room worked, but again the rooms could use some renovating. The pools were phenomenal. I had the opportunity to enjoy the infinity pool all to myself early in the morning. Its a very nice and picturesque view from the pool. The kids had a fantastic time in the other pool and they also enjoyed using the self tanning booth. They offer towels and cucumber water at the counter next to the pool, which is very convenient. The pool area was not crowded when we went and that was also a plus. The hotel offers Smores night each evening and it was a hit. The fire pit can be extremely hot and face scorching. But the experience was fun. Remember to get your supplies in the shop next to the pool. The kids pool area was closed off during the time we were there. There are so many different viewpoints at this resort to take numerous memorable pictures. We did not get the opportunity to try the food on site as we were out most parts of the day.You have the option to valet or self park. If you decide to self park, you can pay online per their signs.

We have been coming to this place many times in the past 5 yrs. This is one of our favorite spots. Three different types of pools. Kids pool with slides to a large infinity family pool to an adult only pool. Food is great and the pool side food and drinks services are exceptional. It’s always a bit crowded which is a good sign. The terraced garden in the back is awesome with great scenery. The general service can be a bit different depending on the time of your stay. During the summer there is a lot of college kids who don’t have the proper training on customer service. However this is not a unique problem to this resort and we will have to deal with this problem anywhere we go these days.

This post is solely for the main pools and the Loma spa pool. Let me start with the fact that I love the property, but have struggled to want to go to La Cantera and take advantage of your beautiful pools, simply because the pool service at every pool is terrible. The last 2 times my husband and I have a spa day, during the week, there is one person servicing the spa pool and you see them maybe every 30 minutes (if youre lucky). I figured that was just because it was a weekday, and so I assumed La Cantera must have more pool staff on the weekends... especially during the summer. Today, on a Saturday in August, my friend and I were at the adult pool and there was one waiter for the entire pool. It took over an hour to get our food we ordered and my friends Rose was completely melted and just water when she finally got her drink. Please please please start having more staff at your pools. We even went to the pool bar to speed up service and the guy was not friendly at all and told us we couldnt order food at the bar, we had to order food through the singular pool server that was already completely overwhelmed. Also, for as nice as a resort as La Cantera is, I still dont understand how theres no music playing at the adult pool on weekends. Most people are going to enjoy the pools and at this point its not worth the price you have to pay, for the pool service/ambiance that is offered.

What a fun resort tucked into San Antonio. Great for a 3-4 day getaway. Pools are fantastic. Haven’t golfed there but I assume the courses are very nice. Service is excellent. Everyone is kind and helpful. Pool side food was great. Which most of the time other places. It’s not. The resort itself is really beautiful. The restaurants are all good. Breakfast buffet on the weekends is top notch. However, not sure I would go again as the value isn’t there to take a 6 yo. Need to raise the eat free age. The rooms are nice. They are clean. But a bit dated. The bathroom is nice and clean. But could really use a walk in shower. Overall, still a great place to take kids. Or for a grown up weekend. They do have a very nice adult only pool. Or you can roast s’mores with the kids each night.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay! Beautiful resort. Love the views of the hill country, the resort grounds and the infinity pool. The staff took great care of us and made us feel welcome. Our suite was beautiful and luxurious. Sweetfire Restaurant, located inside the resort had great food. We enjoyed working out in the gym and swimming in the adult pool. We also took advantage of the free shuttle to and from La Cantera Mall which is very nice!

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. After having my travel agent book La Cantera for my first Texas staycation I was looking forward to a relaxing 5 days. Well upon my arrival painting in the mail lobby was occurring and is still happening. The smell is nauseating. 1st disappointment was the outdated room in need of serious upgrades. The furniture was scratched, the bathroom tile is discolored and the fixtures are literally rusting. I was willing to overlook it as the grounds are beautiful. I had a great view and it was not so crowded so the pools were relaxing. Well after coming from the pool and showering I was greeted by a roach in my bathroom. I should have checked the reviews from last month to see its not the first occurrence. I called the front desk twice with no answer. I packed my bags to check out. Brandon who was at the front desk only wanted to offer a new room and a resort credit. No thank you. I do not want to stay in a hotel with roaches. He then told me they would have to investigate to see if I indeed had a bug or infestation and determine if I am eligible for a refund but would need to go through the 3rd party I booked with. I have video and pictures. I NEED A REFUND for the remaining nights. I left realizing he did not check me out but received my keys and bracelet you need for the pool. I returned and spoke with Mr. Garcia to let him know the issues. He was very apologetic and checked me out and let me know the process. I am waiting for them to refund the balance to the 3rd party. No one should have to endure pests in a luxury resort. I hope La Cantera does the right thing. I would not stay here until they upgrade and get some pest control services. It is not worth the $$$$ at the point.

The resort was amazing. Was there for a corporate event of a 3 night stay. The minute you pull up I was greeted by a very friendly bell hop. Check in was quick and easy, woman at front desk was nice and helpful. Explained the layout and answered any questions I had. During the event the food and hospitality were 5 star. The rooms were just the right size, beds were comfortable, rainfall shower was perfect at the end of a long day. Everyone was friendly and helpful. And the views around the hotel were spectacular. Definitely a place worth staying.

First the good: the grounds are STUNNING and well maintained. There’s tons of little seating areas outside that are situated so it feels like you have the place to yourself. I’d say this facility specializes is weddings/events more than vacation/spa experiences but the staff are friendly and quick. There’s a lot to do And the location cannot be beat. For a hotel that could have easily been too stuffy for kids the staff and facilities were very accommodating to rambunctious pre-schoolers.Now, the rough:Rooms were large but for the scale of hotel I was shocked at how dingy, old, and bubbling up the carpets were. There was also a mysterious white dust on the window side of the curtains which my Childs found in 5 seconds flat. The food was mediocre and every single order we made all weekend had at least one thing wrong with the order.Asked for champagne to be sent to the room, never arrived. They tried to double charge me room rates and when I pointed it out they tried to fight me on it at first.

This was our first visit to La Cantera. I came with my husband who was attending a work seminar. It feels like it is well-managed but we didnt use many of the hotel services or amenities. The reception staff was warm and welcoming. They were able to accommodate my husbands request for a room closer to the meeting rooms than where we were originally booked. (He had a foot injury.)The grounds of La Cantera are extremely well-maintained with flowering, water-wise plants like Esperanza, Mexican Bird of Paradise, Texas Sage, Oleanders, Mountain Laurels, Salvias, & other Sages, punctuated by lush green grass lawns with various seating areas mostly in shady spots under trees and covered pergolas. It was just lovely to sit and watch the sun set, even in August! The valet service is excellent - they use a texting system to call up the car and its extremely efficient. After the first time you call for your car, just copy and paste the valet ticket number in the same text thread and your car is pulled up in about 5 minutes. The valet manager was also accommodating when I asked if we could keep the car in the covered parking (there were plenty of open spaces at the time I asked) for a few hours because we had musical instruments in the car and we had already checked out. There are NOT as many kids running around here as there are at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort, which I find is a plus. Although this IS a family-oriented place and I saw kids at the pool and some in the lobby, they seemed better behaved here than at the other place I mentioned. The only complaint I have - and the reason for only four stars overall - is that the restrooms that are closest to the lobby are kind of a hike and they are not well marked. I could not find the restroom and a very kind cashier at Henriettas Market helped me by leading me directly to the restroom, which was around a corner. She shouldnt have to do that. The hotel should have better signage, signs that can be seen from a distance down the hallway, pointing to the restroom around the corner. Overall, I thought it was a bad design for Lobby restrooms that could be made better with one or two more strategically placed signs (a renovation to put bathrooms closer to the lobby would be even better, of course). We will be back to La Cantera, despite the lobby restroom situation, lol!

The staff here was horrible! We came here for my niece’s prom pictures, which was pre-coordinated with one of the young ladies prior to arrival. There were other teens there doing the same thing. The only difference was the color of our skin vs theirs. We took pictures in the front foyer then were told to it would be better to go by the check-in desk from the same young lady my sister coordinated with. When we got by the desk, NICK (refused to give last name) was EXTREMELY rude and talked to us very disrespectful stating we couldn’t be there without approval, even though we told him we were told to go there. He then proceeded to tell us we to hurry up and get out of the way in the NASTIEST manner which in turn led us to ask what his problem was. There were customers walking up and admiring our niece’s dress and photos and complimenting her and NICK continue to be rude in front of the customers to our group so we went outside. As we started to head outside, security came and decided to talk with our sister who had to relay for a 3rd time she coordinated with one the ladies who worked there. Mind you this whole time, there was a Caucasian family doing the same thing and NOT ONCE did they harass them. We went outside and the security refused to let the photographer go outside to finish the pictures. When asked why we had to leave and not the other family, the said they had a reservation at the restaurant. So we were in front of the hotel when the family walked out and we discussed our photo experience, and they relayed they never had a reservation and they didn’t have any issues and were allowed to go across the street and take additional photos! The discrimination here is real. We made sure not to be in the way and it was suppose to be a memorable moment that was ruined. But the pure disrespect from the staff and the security definitely doesn’t warrant any support to this resort! Poor communication amongst the staff could’ve prevented this as well as proper training on customer service. Do better!**Photos of the family not escorted out by security!**

My recent stay at La Cantera Resort & Spa was nothing short of extraordinary, leaving me with a treasure trove of memories and a deep sense of relaxation and contentment. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth, luxury, and unparalleled hospitality. As I drove up the scenic hill towards the resort, I was immediately struck by the stunning views of the Texas Hill Country. The resort’s architecture seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings, creating a serene and inviting ambiance. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with the staff going out of their way to ensure I felt welcomed. They even provided a quick tour of the property, highlighting the various amenities and features available to guests. My room was nothing short of spectacular. Spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated, it offered all the comforts I could ask for. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the linens felt like a cloud against my skin. The room also featured a private balcony that overlooked the lush landscape, providing the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The bathroom was equally impressive, with a large soaking tub, a separate rain shower, and luxurious bath products that made every bath feel like a spa experience. The culinary offerings at La Cantera were simply divine. I had the pleasure of dining at several of the on-site restaurants, each offering a unique and delicious experience. The breakfast buffet at SweetFire Kitchen was a daily delight, with a wide array of options ranging from fresh pastries and fruits to made-to-order omelets. Dinner at Signature was an absolute highlight; the chefs creative take on Texas cuisine was a culinary journey that tantalized my taste buds. Every meal was accompanied by impeccable service, with the staff always attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.A visit to the Loma de Vida Spa was a must, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped into the spa, I felt transported to a world of tranquility and relaxation. The treatments were luxurious and tailored to my needs, leaving me feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. The spa facilities, including the infinity pool and relaxation areas, were serene and beautifully designed, providing the perfect environment to unwind. The wellness programs offered, such as yoga and meditation, were a wonderful addition to the overall experience.La Cantera offers a wealth of amenities and activities to suit every type of traveler. The resort’s multiple pools were a favorite spot, especially the adults-only infinity pool, which offered breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. The golf course was meticulously maintained and provided a challenging yet enjoyable experience. For those looking to explore, the resort’s location is perfect, with easy access to nearby attractions such as The Shops at La Cantera and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. What truly set my stay apart was the exceptional service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. From the concierge who helped arrange off-site excursions to the housekeeping staff who kept my room immaculate, the level of care and attention to detail was remarkable.La Cantera Resort & Spa is a haven of luxury, relaxation, and unparalleled service. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or simply a place to unwind, this resort offers everything you could possibly need and more. I left feeling completely refreshed and cannot wait to return to this incredible sanctuary in the Texas Hill Country.

The Cantera resort has beautiful architecture and very nice views. The Sweetifre breakfast was delicious and many staff members were very welcoming. The infinite pool was great. For us, the check in experience was frustrating as the receptionist was clearly not interested in welcoming us. The room, although it has nice furniture is very dark, the shower was dripping water non-stop and the sofa bed for which we paid an extra 75 dollars a night was creaking beyond belief.Lastly, the restaurant “Primero” had the most below average Fajitas we have had in years….

My first time at this establishment celebrating my fiancé birthday was TERRIBLE. The staff at Topaz were very rude. Definitely felt discriminated against. They look at you as if a person of color shouldnt be there. I booked cabana from 5-9. Arrived at 510. Upon arrival was told by staff members, its been busy today so if the cabana is not clean Ill help you guys clean it up Unacceptable! I paid good money to have a cabana READY upon my arrival and you gonna tell me to do your job??!! So that was issue #1. #2 It took an hour for us to get a server after talking to 4-5 workers asking who are waiter/waitress is! Then had the audacity to charge a service fee! This resort is a joke! The hotel staff front desk were great! Loren and Kris ! Were very sympathetic to our experience at Topaz. However I will not return to this resort, simply due to being mistreated at the Topaz as less then because I am of African American decent.

It has a beautiful Spanish flair, it is very San Antonio, and has so much to offer (large spa, restaurants, events, etc.).It’s perfect for simply hanging out, a staycation, or a romantic getaway. I shared this feedback with the hotel, twice, but they didn’t care. Given that La Cantera is 4 star and ranked as one of the top 5 hotels in Texas, I came here with a certain expectation. We booked Deluxe room w/2 Queen beds for $500/night during Spring Break. I told my kids this would be one of the nicest hotels they’ve ever stayed at and it fell very short of that. Our room was down a long dated hallway. Our view was of the cars departing the hotel. At $500/night, I was expecting more. The room next to us had room service and the dinner trays were still there at 9am. I’m paying too much to look and smell garbage in the morning. The pools are lovely and the main selling point. But the kids pool wasn’t that clean probably from kids running through the garden (some sign or effort to stop this would be nice) as a short cut to go down the slide. The other pools were wonderful. Sadly we encountered gum stuck on the floor next to our lounge chair. The staff is extremely friendly and makes every effort to be helpful (staff really made our stay wonderful), but they tended to only work the side of the pool closest to the bar; drink cups and food trays piled up high throughout the day. Guest would move the trays to an empty table so twice the chairs/tables were being used just to hold garbage. The staff were constantly on the move so not lack of effort, perhaps more staff is required? Also, the guest key only works at half the gates, but the gates all look exactly the same and have the same welcome signage. There is no indication as to which ones are “exit only” so new arriving guests would stand at the gate wondering why their key wouldn’t work. Again, simple update of signage would solve this. The prices on the website for the Kids Club were inaccurate ($79 website/$110 actual). Easy to note on the website that prices vary during certain times. And the schedule handed out for kids activities missed dates of some activities. Along this line, the hours for when the pools are open are only listed AT the pool. Adding this to the activity sheet (or on the website) would be nice. The “kids” arcade was absolutely terrible. Of the 7 games, 2 were too violent for younger kids (7 & under), 2 they physically couldn’t reach (my youngest is almost 4 feet tall) and 1 was broken. Then there was at least 5 claw games that were almost bare with only 3-5 items remaining. Note, parents HATE claw games. The card readers and prize machine worked intermittently as they required Wifi, which had a poor signal there. We called the number for help, nobody answered, walked up to the front desk for help and then we were sent all the way back to the recreation desk (why not post a sign that says go to recreation desk next door for help- that would save an hour of frustration). Again, the staff was EXTREMELY nice (particularly Enrique, always very calm and friendly!) and helpful, but there’s only so much they can do. The game room is outsourced. Again, 4 star hotel and $500/night. You already are making a ton of money off of me in other areas of the hotel, just have a nice array of games kids can play. Something simple and fun became a waste of money and more importantly, time.Signature restaurant was exceptional. The creativity of the flavors and the service was superior. Sweet Fire was also a wonderful experience, great food and excellent service. Ricardo was a great driver and very friendly.Overall I would say our stay was nice, but there were so many little inconveniences and irritations throughout that I wouldn’t run home and tell my friends this is one of the best in Texas. Hyatt Regency Lost Pines, Gaylord Texan, Omni Barton Creek and Miraval were all better experiences. There’s a lot of opportunities to make La Cantera a better stay and a lot of what I noted above doesn’t require a large investment. The friendliness of the staff and the relaxing poolside views is what I’ll remember most. Again, we didn’t have a terrible stay, but the rooms are FAR over priced for the experience received.

This place is a joke. The only employee that was pleasant was the front gate gentleman, (older in age).Everyone else seemed to be unhappy in general. Nothing compared to the service you get at Hyatt hill country or JW Marriott. Also the property is old and a bit run down. The views are beautiful and it has potential for sure. Pools are in need of some cosmetic repairs. Trash cans were scarce and then the few we’d see were overflowing,There were cups, plates, & pool towels everywhere. Poolside service was virtually non existent despite there appearing to be plenty staff. We are used to tipping for all services (bellhop, valet, servers, etc) but it didn’t seem to be the vibe here, like they didn’t even try to have decent customer service and didn’t seem like other guests were tipping either. No one seemed to know anything when you’d ask them a question and couldn’t be bothered to help or try to find out. We asked for adjoining rooms as well as early check in, willing to pay the extra fees and neither happened. Arrived at 12 and we were supposed to get a text that our room was ready. That never happened. We didn’t get checked in til 345. Room was ok. AC didn’t cool too well, pillows were lumpy.Traffic was horrible due to nearby attractions closing hours. So be aware and plan around that. Not much for families to do. Arcade was small. Only family activity I saw was smores and you had to go inside and get the kit to take back outside. Pool has 2 kid slides but otherwise boring for my kids. We were planning on going to spa but I’d rather go to tried and trusted places and avoid being overcharged and let down.Few good things I’d come back for was the golf course & food/cocktails @ grille 254. Food was shockingly amazing. They do have a variety of restaurants so that is good. They do have a restaurant with a decent selection of tequila and mezcal. But to stay here? Never again. Not worth the cost. Pools were meh. Activities were meh and hardly existent. The RESORT as a whole was meh.For the price, go to Hyatt hill country or JW or even the Gaylord in Grapevine.

And we had to change rooms three times till finally, they had the one that we booked. It’s 4:01 PM, and we are trying to nap. The room next to us is loud, and drilling sounds are coming from the wall as if they were doing some construction work. We parked our Tesla in the Valet when we arrived last night and asked if they could charge it for us, and they said they would. As we went to get our car, it had not been charged at all; now we are late to our reservations. The customer service is horrible. It was our first time at the La Cantera Resort. Overall I have very good things to say about it, like the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of just about everything, and just how expansive the campus is. (very beautiful and HEATED pools!) Talk about a remarkable view of the TX Hill Country. The things that were a bit upsetting though were some of the creature comforts you’d hope to have in the room you’re staying in at a 4-Star resort. A couple examples were first, the bed pillows are rock hard. My wife and I both woke up with kinks in our necks. And second, the shower had several leaks and the water never got very hot.Very minor things in the grand scheme, but if I had to share any tips before coming here it’d be to bring your own pillows.

The customer service that we experienced today was deplorable! I booked a stay for a girls spa weekend for my daughter and daughter-in-laws birthdays several months ago . When the date arrived, my daughter-in-laws family was all sick with a virus. I called the resort and explained the situation and was so glad that the woman I talked to said that she could do a complementary one-time re-schedule. I gave her the dates (July 12-14) and she said the dates were open and she would re-schedule. We booked spa appointments and arrived on July 12. When we arrived, we were told by the receptionist that the original booking had been cancelled and a no show fee was not charged, but there was no record of our reservation for July 12-14. He arranged for us to talk to the manager, Dylan Schaefer, and he was the worst! He said there was nothing he could do about the situation. He had no rooms available and without an email showing the re-scheduled confirmation number, he refused to take any responsibility and find other accommodations for us. It seemed like he didnt believe us and was totally unapologetic about their mistake. He put it all on us like it was our mistake, which it wasnt. I think he just wanted us to go away. Rude manager, dreadful customer service, and a totally unpleasant experience!! Thankfully, we were able to book a room and spa appointments at Mokara and we are trying to forget how badly we were treated at La Cantera.

Stayed at The Villas Briscoe Suite for my birthday. As soon as we walked into the villa, it was noticeably warm. The thermostat wouldnt work. We had to call maintenance to come fix it which was embarrassing in front of the guests to say the least. There were several rolly pollys found near the bedroom and restroom. There were only 2 USB ports in the entire villa and neither of them worked. This resort is severely outdated and in need of an upgrade. It screams 2010. Theres also an iPad mounted on the wall for some reason. The villa itself is pretty big, but for some reason the 2 bedroom part of the suite was off limits? The website shows otherwise. The only nice thing was the outdoor shower and the golf cart. I expected more for $2k per night.

I’ve stayed at this hotel three or four times in the last ten years. The prices just keep going up. You used to be able to stay for around $250 a night in the summer and it’s gone up almost $100 a night so just to stay here two nights in a basic room is over $700 it’s most definitely not worth that price!! I go on nicer cruises for what it would cost to stay here two nights with food and drinks ect.

La Cantera Resort and Spa is an exceptional destination that seamlessly blends luxury, comfort, and top-notch service. The welcoming and attentive staff ensures a flawless experience from the moment you arrive. The accommodations are outstanding; we stayed at The Villas to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The view from the Villas was stunning, with all the modern amenities you could desire inside! Specifically, Henry and Collin were exceptional team members within the Villas who helped make our stay fabulous!I highly recommend that anyone visiting La Cantera stop by and enjoy the exceptional service at the Topaz Adult Pool bar. We were greeted by a lovely bartender, Rubi, who added to our overall experience! Her enthusiasm and dedication were her priorities in each exchange we observed, making the bar experience a highlight of our stay! The resorts array of services and facilities is equally impressive. Whether relaxing by the pools, indulging in a rejuvenating treatment at Loma de Vida, or enjoying a meal at one of the on-site restaurants, every detail is meticulously crafted to provide an unparalleled experience! La Cantera is a haven of tranquility and elegance, perfect for relaxation and adventure. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable getaway/staycation!

The resort was beautiful, the accommodations were luxurious and every staff member that I encountered was extremely helpful and kind. The low rating for this review has everything to do with how business was conducted. While dining at Sweetfire Kitchen, the balance was paid in cash. Prior to leaving the cash on the table I asked the gentleman at the host stand about paying with cash, and since I didnt want change he stated I could leave it on the table. Unfortunatley a member of my party inadvertently signed the receipt which authorized the balance to be charged to the room. This charge was discovered while reviewing the itemized invoice for the stay prior to checking out (viewed on the television in the suite). This essentially means I would be paying twice for that one dining experience. I spoke with a concierge member where I was staying, explained to them the situation while taking full accountability for signing the receipt, and the concierge member told me that they verified everything with Sweetfire kitchen. I subsequently received an updated printed and emailed itemized invoice with Sweetfire Kitchen REMOVED and the balance was adjusted to reflect this (the balance decreased). I checked out from the property on 6/2, and a few days later my card was appropriately charged for the stay. Here we are on 6/27/24 and there is a pending charge on my card for SWEETFIRE KITCHEN. The very charge that we discussed with the female concierge at the Villas which was REMOVED from my final invoice. I called La Cantera today, was transferred FOUR times and was eventually connected with a supervisor. She mentioned being busy and that she would return my call. Compassion and understanding from everyone that I talked to today was out the window. They were passing the buck and saying Hold on let me tranfer you. Its interesting how the tone of the staff changes when youre there, in front of them, versus over the phone when there is a dispute. Was the concierge attempting to mitigate the situation by just removing the charge to keep me quiet in the moment? Well never know, but right is right and wrong is wrong. Im not paying twice for something no matter how miniscule the purchase is, would you? I really wanted to love this place.

The resort is amazing! The basic rooms are all quality but nothing too fancy. They all appear to have the same three pieces of identical art hanging on the walls based on a group of us staying here in seperate rooms. The nicer rooms get a bit of an upgrade with an espresso pod coffee maker instead of a base kurig. Also the bathrooms get a nicer touch with a tub and separate standing shower as well as more seating and potentially a seperate room with bigger kitchenette area. The staff are what make the place great tho. From front desk to refilling the water to picking up and the facility. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The golf course is beautiful although I do not play. You could not have a better location for the resort. It overlooks the town on one side and the backside holds the golf course and lots of greenery. There are many amenities on location making this a one stop getaway. Multiple places to eat or drink, spa, swimming pools.I recommend this resort to everyone. I will definitely be back.

The experience was terrible overall. At checkin at 4 o clock, the check in person told us that the Sweetfire restaurant was open. When we got there they told us it was closed and that they opened at 5pm. We were very hungry so we went to PRimero Cantina. Huge fail, the items we ordered were not good. The fish ceviche did not taste fresh. The guacamole was like a green paste, it did not taste like authentic Avocados were used. We wanted some spice so we wanted some salsa, we had to order the chips and salsa to get salsa for$7, It thought that was ridiculous after buying the fake guacamole and 3 pounds of chips. For dinner we decided to order room service. WE know room service charges are ridiculous now a days but we did not feel like going out to the restaurants. We ordered a caesar salad which said that it came with anchovies, and there were no anchovies. The overall taste of the salad was as good as a pre-packaged HEB salad. The chicken quesadillas were mediocre to bad, and it came with tons of little tabasco bottles, huge fail. IF you are trying to sell an authentic mexican or tex-mex experience you guys have failed enormously. I dont think we will be coming back. We spent almost a thousand dollars between the hotel stay, terrible food and overpriced Spa for a 1/10 experience in my opinion.

VALET THIEVES - DONT VALETFor the most part I had a great weekend here two weeks ago. When I checked in I paid to upgrade to the 7th floor which included free valet, spa access, and a couple of other perks. The weekend was great… until I realized shoes were stoled out of my truck after leaving. Now the hotel is distancing themselves from the valet, yet they were quick to include it in the upgraded room. The valet is essentially doing nothing to look into the issue or make it right. I was told I had to file a police report for them to even look into it. So I did. Waiting to hear back, but I don’t expect anything. It’s a shame you go spend thousands at a resort for a weekend and have to worry about a valet worker stealing out of your vehicle. When I asked if there was any financial compensation to be offered (credit for next time, etc) I was told I was “just looking for free money”.If you go here DO NOT USE THE VALET. They steal. Luckily I locked everything else up in my vehicle and that’s all they could get. Shame that this is now how I remember the trip.

My wife and I have been going to La Cantera for years as a staycation spot in a convenient location. I can agree with a lot of the reviews about rooms being dated or beat up. The service has always been *at least* good if not great for us. Sometimes folks don’t know how to help but they try real hard. If you’re booking at $200 and are able to use the pools it’s a decent deal, the grounds and pools are awesome. Now, with that said, I’ve been increasingly disappointed with the value and experience as I’ve booked “nicer”(more expensive) rooms. The quality doesn’t really get better, half of the rooms are in bad locations, bad layouts, and there are less total so it’s more likely you’ll get one. They all have the same dated quality. When I’m paying >$1k for a weekend I expect a certain level of accommodation and I don’t think La cantera really meets the mark. Most recently my wife and I booked a king villa which are billed as “…an ideal hideaway for families, friends and business groups”. It’s definitely not a hideaway from your neighbors as all(as far as I know) of the king villas are around a pool, no hill country views, a pool or hot tub. Interestingly I called and asked if we would have a hill country view and they told me “all the views at the villa are good but if you want to guarantee a good view we will need a $100 a night deposit”. Now, I’m not exactly a penny pincher but that’s pretty….unsavory.I could have, while sitting on my patio, leaned over and picked up my neighbors patio chairs. Our patio door was 15 feet from the hot tub/pool. Like ten feet from seating. There is 0 privacy. The villas, bizarrely, were also *full* of kids. Like 2 or 3 kids to 1 adult. You can hear the pool clearly(talking, chairs dragging, trash cans, splashing) you can hear through the walls clearly. I get it’s a hotel, I get families travel, I get noise is a thing, I guess I was just expecting more of a secluded vibe or feel. It certainly didn’t meet that expectation, unless you count how inconveniently far you are from the hotel with no options but to go up to the main building, or leave, for food. You get a golf cart but you better hope you have good weather. The room itself was bigger/better layout than anything we’d had in the main building, though. All in all it’s a convenient place to go if you’re local, in a location I really like, and it has great pools and grounds. Accommodations aren’t really worth it to upgrade as they don’t really get better and you’re certainly not getting your moneys worth.Edit: I kind of find the responses from company to be filler/hand wavy. “We will begin a renovation…” is kind of useless to me. It feels like it’s trying to capture people who are reading reviews ahead of booking - I’m pretty sure yall told us that two years ago.

After I went to battle with the bugs, I needed to leave the resort around 6am to make a very important appointment in San Antonio. The valet was missing, and the door to the lobby was locked along with the key to my car. It took them almost 15 minutes to get me my keys, and I was late to my appointment. I asked for an audience with the management to discuss all of this and was told I’d be contacted. That was 3 weeks go... I think they’re struggling, and I was very disappointed in my stay. It’s too bad because it’s a lovely place. It’s just not well maintained and lacks the service for the price. My room also wasn’t stocked with shampoo, etc, but those things aren’t as big a deal. Incredible! The spa is one of the nicest spas Ive been to. The attention to detail on every level ensures a relaxing, beautiful, and luxury spa experience. Ive been here a few times, the massages are amazing, I didnt care for the facial, but the massage and the amenities the spa offers is incredible and allows you to enjoy the facility and views all day if you choose. I like a facial that makes my skin feel cleaner and that was not my experience, maybe if youre looking for a treatment that infuses products for aging or moisture youd like the facial style, but for me I want my skin and pores feeling refreshed. One of my favorite parts of the spa is the pool with a full service wait staff that will bring you juices, cocktails, food, snacks, smoothies, power bowls, etc. You can just relax before or after your service under an umbrella at the infinity pool overlooking the beautiful hill country, its quiet, Ive seen deer walk by, listen to birds, and the sound of the trees brushing against each other....beside the occasional sound of golfers teeing off, its incredibly peaceful and breezy. I flew all the way from California to San Antonio, TX to treat my mom for her birthday to what I thought would be a great, relaxing experience at La Cantera Resort. The resort is beautiful, otherwise I wouldnt have taken a flight to go there for the second time (I had had a great experience the first time!).However, there is SOOO much room for improvement for customer service and how to deal with unhappy customers. On the first night of our stay at La Cantera, all of a sudden, the REALLY LOUD fire alarm went off 3 times in the middle of the night. It was a shock to the system the first time and very, very annoying the two other times it rang. My mother, who was my guest, suffers from severe anxiety and sleep insomnia and the fire alarm going off at night prevented her from sleeping all night and gave her a panic attack. It made me feel horrible for her and it was exactly the opposite of what I had pictured and planned for her.I raised the issue with La Cantera Resort customer service team the next morning. They understood and acknowledged that I was VERY unhappy. All they did was apologizing because the fire alarm issue was an accident beyond their control, which I do appreciate, and they then escalated the problem with their front office manager. To deal with my dissatisfaction, all they offered was to refund $39 worth of property fees (for 1 night only!) out of a bill of over $1,800 that I spent for 2 days at la Cantera for stay, spa and restaurants. I find that appalling and unacceptable. This is not the way you deal with dissatisfied customers, especially if they are returning customers. I wont be going back!

Nice resort but they seem to have a problem with drug use here. on the last day of the trip, we were tired and wanted to have a lazy day sleeping in the room until we went out for dinner in the evening. multiple times throughout the day we were woken up by extremely loud music coming from next door and our room completely stinking of weed smoke. not just our room, but the entire hallway outside our room all the way to the elevators would stink of weed smoke.i called the front desk multiple times but each time i called, the hotel said they would take care of it only for my room to start stinking of marijuana again a few hours later.seems that the hotel doesnt do anything about it and thats probably why people come here and do such things. guess they prefer renting out the room over enforcing their no smoking / no drugs policy.problem is, this is a resort/spa where people come for wellness and relaxation, its not a party hotel. its also a family place and a lot of people bring their children here. cant imagine why the hotel doesnt kick people like this out immediately.absolutely ruined what would otherwise have been a great trip. if you have children, i would suggest you find a different resort/spa because this place does not enforce their own no smoking / no drug policy even when you report it multiple times and give them the room number of the people who are doing it.

Was in town for Thanksgiving week and my only regret is we didnt have more downtime to actually enjoy this beautiful resort. Our room was clean and well-stocked and we only had one direct neighbor the whole week, which only stayed for one night. So it was relatively quiet. I dont know if I missed it on the website, but either way, it should be heavily marketed that all the pools on site are heated. If I had known, I wouldve brought a swimsuit. We thought people were crazy swimming in 60 degree weather, til I finally reached down into the water one day and realized it was bath water warm! I also think that they might have a water softener system, which I think is another perk they should tout on their website. We arrived at the beginning of the week ahead of Thanksgiving, so maybe we got a more prepared experienced than those showing up closer to the holiday. But I know everyone was working really hard to make sure guests were taken care of. We had heard from one of the workers that they had 750 reservations for their Thanksgiving dinner on site, which absolutely baffled us as to how they were going to navigate that. But they did! Everyone survived! They also had great activities you could do on resort. We only had time for smores one day, and it took us three nights to actually work our way through the scavenger hunt but that was fun as well — even for adults!SOME guests were a bit rude and inconsiderate. We ate breakfast on site the morning after Thanksgiving. We made reservations the night before assuming thered be a wait, which there was, but it was only about 20 minutes. You wouldve thought some guests had never had to wait for a table in their whole lives. The restaurant is clearly busy and theyre clearly shortstaffed, as are many hotels around the world, have some grace, the food isnt gonna run away.Overall, Id definitely stay here the next time Im in town visiting family. Maybe next time well stay on the adults only floor, though. I dont hate kids, but there were many times we heard kids running up and down the hallway and screaming in nearby rooms. Id say this hotel is VERY kid friendly. Maybe it was the holiday, but Ive never seen so many kids at a hotel.

This hotel also has 4 different pools you can go to, one of them being mainly for the little ones. I would definitely say this hotel so also very kid friendly/family friendly. They have such reliable friendly and welcoming staff and the rooms are very nice.

I was interested in doing an event at the Palo Duro venue space. However when I initially called to get information they told me their sales manager was not available and they took down my information and told me someone will reach out to me in 1 business day. I waited weeks for them to call me back and they never did. So I called back and told them that I did not receive any phone call or email and they told me wait another 1-2 business days. I waited exactly 10 days and they still did not respond so i called them and told them I really want to speak with someone that can help me booking an event and they finally did via email. It would take multiple days just for a reply and sometimes I would have to send more than one email just for a response. Eventually they just completely stopped responding to my emails. Sad to see businesses operate this way when a potential customer shows interest.

Not all courses do this. Thanks!Rather inconvenient to be unable to pull golf cart over to our car to transfer golf clubs to golf cart. But the simplest delight of our stay was the warm towel that Rex of the golf staff gave me for my bare legs. I admit I had miscalculated the weather. But he came to our rescue. So thoughtful!!As far as the room - lovely, spacious, clean, & comfortable beds. But loud slamming doors can be heard all the way down the hall. This is one of my favorite spots to stay at when I come to San Antonio. It is family friendly but I feel it’s a bit more oriented for couples-which I like.I love the views to the city and hill country, that is what sold me the first time we came. I have such wonderful memories just sitting outside on their patio watching the sun set with the fire going, sipping on wine and pizza, and conversing until late night. The adults only pool has an awesome no edge effect and the drinks are really good. I recommend their Mango Chile drink for those that don’t care for the heavy taste of alcohol but also don’t want anything too sweet. The only reason that I did not give them a 5 star is because I did notice a few things around the property that need attention/repairs.

I wouldn’t come here even if someone put a GUN to my head and I mean that. I understand people like to spend money unnecessary but this ain’t the way even for you folks. For every night you’re here you’ll have to pay for parking. Their ridiculous prices do not come with breakfast included and guess what, after you’ve paid for the room, if you used a booking service like Expedia, the hotel will gladly drop another bill to your room for hundreds of Dollars for every night you spend there. Meaning on your booking fees, the taxes weren’t enough. They’ll be more taxes, resort fee leisure and any other fees they can cough up. I’m sure they are people who are used to paying anything they are told but if you care on how you spend your money and budget for it.. this is not a place for you. There will be a leisure fee of $39.00 for every day/night you’re here. They will be $19.49 fee for every night you park on their premises. They’ll add another$4.19 for fee state occupancy tax and another county tax. And all this is in addition to the $300/night you spent for a mediocre room that doesn’t even have a microwave in it at best..Look the place outside looks nice but that’s it.. When I’m booking a hotel or any place to stay I don’t care for hidden fees.. that’s just the absolute worst. This is the true definition of hidden fees to milk people. Last time we’ll come here and I’ll tell everyone about the experience. In addition, the rooms are very much out dated, absolutely nothing luxurious about the rooms. We found a moth on the first night in our room, first time experiencing that in a hotel for sure.Ps. Service and customer service was very good though.

The Seven resort as well as the spa were beautiful and we loved the offerings. Only negative was the noise level in the spa. Not sure if it was the crowd the days I was there or the culture. My boyfriend and I recently stayed here for 2 nights. We had a weird incident on our last day, as we were driving up the security booth at the entrance, the guy stopped us and asked if we were workers or if we were there to perform any work. We gave him a weird look and said “we are guests” to which he replied with an explanation of how he needs to verify where everyone is going etc and we said that’s ok we are guests at the hotel. He then asked if we were there to deliver door dash and for the third time, we said “we are guests, we are staying at the hotel”. He made a weird face and let us inWhile we understand the need to ask where people are going or verify reservations, we found it inappropriate to assume that we are working on the grounds or delivering door dash. I don’t want to use inflammatory words to describe the exchange but my partner and I are mexican and I don’t think this is the way he greets white guests and guests with fancier cars. The luxury experience that they market completely goes out of the window after being treated that way, the exchange made us feel very bad and we ended our trip with a bitter note. It’s unacceptable that in 2023, hospitality workers aren’t trained to treat all guests equally. And it’s a shame because we come to San Antonio often and this is a gorgeous hotel with great amenities but we will never stay here again. Do better.

Stunning Property, But Room for Culinary ImprovementI recently had the opportunity to stay at a beautiful hotel that left me with mixed feelings. While the property itself was stunning, boasting impressive amenities and an idyllic atmosphere, I must admit that my dining experiences fell significantly short of expectations. The hotels restaurants, unfortunately, failed to deliver on the culinary front. The quality of the food was consistently disappointing, and there was an evident need for a dramatic improvement in this aspect. From lackluster flavors to subpar presentation, it was clear that the kitchen was struggling to meet the standards one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. As a guest, I believe that the dining options should be an integral part of the overall experience, complementing the grandeur of the property. The inconsistent quality and disappointing flavors detracted from the otherwise enjoyable stay, leaving me feeling dissatisfied. To truly elevate the guest experience, I would strongly recommend that the hotel management invest significant effort into revamping their culinary offerings. Recruiting skilled chefs, sourcing high-quality ingredients, and paying attention to detail in both taste and presentation would go a long way towards rectifying this notable flaw.Given the immense potential of the property, it is my hope that the management takes this feedback to heart and undertakes the necessary steps to enhance their dining experience. With the right improvements, this hotel has the potential to become a true culinary destination and provide a complete package of luxury and fine dining for its guests.

We walk into primero and it was super empty yet the server that greeted us looked like she didn’t want to be there, she only came to take our order and never saw her again as someone else brought out our food , never got refills or anything . Which btw food isn’t good , the queso was powdery like and thick, my soda tasted watered down.4. We finish and walk my son to the kids area and the water slides are closed but the sign says it should be opened. So we walk him into the hot tub where a guy was there that made us super uncomfortable, my husband didn’t have his swim shorts and he’s like it doesn’t matter I’m in my underwear, which he was . I could tell my son felt uncomfortable being in there as the things he was telling my son weren’t to be talked to with a child . We had to ask if they could open the pool slides and they did after 20 mins.5. I stayed behind while my family went to six flags we are on the 6th floor idk what the heck is above us or behind us but the loud noises haven’t stopped since I’ve been here since 5 and it’s 8:20 , sounds like loud furniture moving and clicking heel noises.I proceeded to go look for a cocktail at the adults only pool to watch the sunset and I walk down there around 7 and bar is closed. Is anything opened ? Or is all the attention and staff at the wedding yall are hosting this evening ?I finally gave up and just came to my room to lay back down and look at my sheets and a bug is on it , that was it for me.Overall everything feels off , the staff has been friendly but this is suppose to be a resort and have activities and it just feels like any regular motelUnfortunately this will be our last time here and please don’t copy and paste the same response you give everyone, shows y’all don’t really care

When I checked in to my room, it was smelly and the furniture is old and outdated. The mattress on the bed is absolutely the worst, very soft and in dire need of a change. To make things worst, the carpet was not even cleaned. But worst of all, I was on the receiving end of one of the poorest customer service provided by their staff and their front desk. No one would answer the front desk throughout our two-day stay and then we got ready to leave early on Friday morning and called no one answered called. No one answered called the concierge. No one answer a text for valet to bring car up. No one responded. Finally I carried my bag and my backpack down to the front lobby which they were all busy doing Christmas decorations. I asked if anybody was working at the front desk to a couple that was sitting down just talking away as if they had nothing else to do. Found out they were supposed to be behind the counter working. They both jumped up as someone bit them in the butt. Then I proceeded to check out. They had to contact someone to go pick up my bags where my wife was at the room finished bringing my car up. All they could do was say would you like some water for your trip? I said whatever I walked away she followed me out to the car and handed me the two waters and went back to probably sit down and continue her conversation with the co-worker. Who knows? Spent over $1,000 today. What a waste of money and time. Very disgusted

But do nothing to help in the way of helping you get from the parking lot to the front of the lobby or vice versa. There are no golf carts or buses roaming around to help even in the 100+ degree heat. This was off putting. I guess they have adopted the mindset of charge more and offer less. Also, I am not sure what was happening with the music at the adult pool. One day it was elevator style, one day Latino, one day knock off pop tunes. Im pretty sure everything was a knock off. . This is a large resort. Nothing is cheap here. Provide some decent party music at the adult pool. Mix it up.

La Cantera is a fantastic resort that offers breathtaking views, top-notch amenities, and luxurious finishes, making our weekend getaway truly rejuvenating. The overall facilities were nothing short of opulent. The service, however, had room for improvement. The front desk staff were quite satisfactory, but its important to note that the resort employs a number of Gen Z’s, who appeared to lack enthusiasm and energy in their service delivery. This left a bit to be desired.I would suggest that the management explore two potential avenues for enhancing service quality. Firstly, they could consider raising the base pay for their service staff to attract more talented individuals. Alternatively, they might consider recruiting hospitality staff from outside the US, as Ive experienced at the Lakeway Resort in Austin. The international staff there, working at a relatively high wage, offer exemplary service, clearly driven by their enthusiasm for living in the USA.Moreover, its surprising that La Cantera lacks a doorman, which is one of the simplest yet crucial roles in setting the tone for the customer experience. The bulky and heavy entrance doors, which require guests to pull them open, provide an uninviting introduction to an otherwise luxurious resort. Although a minor detail, its noticeable, especially when youre investing a significant amount for your stay.On the bright side, the rooms were impeccably clean, and the central water feature, despite being disappointingly off during our visit, typically serves as a captivating focal point in the central plaza. The food at La Cantera was a standout feature, especially at the Signature Restaurant. I must also commend the omelette maker, Pete, at Sweetfire, who provided an exceptional level of service. His dedication to his role was exactly what I had expected from the Gen Z staff elsewhere in the resort, but unfortunately did not consistently experience. In summary, La Cantera offers an exceptional resort experience, but a few service-related improvements could make it truly exceptional. I hope these suggestions are taken into consideration for the benefit of future guests.

While revising my final bill I found 2 very simple items which should have not been in our bill. When I explained these should not be in our bill her demeanor changed. She started to research in her computer and only after a few minutes she revealed the results of her investigation for this to actually be ours .....I wont go into further details ... All I can say is that she was rude and unprofessional in how she managed the situation. In addition, after she noticed me to be very upset about the situation and specially at how she was handling it she said to me (in a extremely SARCASTIC laugh/tone): I have credited your account --- GOOD BYYEEEEEE .... as in a GET OUT OF HERE ..... She received no further answer from me. As if this was not already bad enough as soon as I turned around she started to CRITIZING/INSULTING ME with the collegue next to her while I was walking away from the counter. If she is really a hotel front desk manager ..... OMG .... she is there to set things right, be understanding and be an example to other staff members ..... Being sarcastically rude and critical to a returning guest is probably not the image any hotel wants to give at checkout. ITS sad to say she single handedly tarnished the great effort done by all other staff members. If you do not have the personality to be the face of a hospitality company then ... DONT ! Extremely disrespected and disappointed.

My family and I had a wonderful stay. The resort is beautiful with great amenities. The pools and gym were nice and clean. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We only dined at a few restaurants, some were better than others. The employees were friendly; however, Peyton and Chris (front desk personnel) went over and beyond to make our stay an even better experience. Thank you!We booked our stay through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, booking through them provides great perks, i.e. early check-in, late check-out, upgrades (if available) and food credit. Overall, we had a wonderful experience!

Great resort at a good price! Had a wonderful time including our spa visits. Its verging on slightly outdated as far as decor and layout goes, but its definitely nice on the whole. Staff at hotel is very accommodating and delivers good service on the whole. I want to give the service 5 stars but unfortunately they earned only 3 from me. I booked a stay package with a bottle of wine, spa items, and a charcuterie board upon arrival. The wine should have been chilled ahead of time and/or be in the room with the charcuterie board on arrival, or at least sent for upon arrival. Instead, we were handed a warm bottle at the desk and then I had to request the charcuterie board again. I honestly think they would have forgotten it and never sent to us if I hadnt asked a second time, which I feel is unacceptable since when I ordered/ paid for the upgrades to the package, it actually asks you and makes you indicate what day of your stay and time of your arrival so that it could be ready on arrival. Also - The TexMex restaurant onsite has the WORST service Ive ever experienced in my life. Oh my God so horribleMassages were VERY good. I wish I could remember my providers name because she was fantastic. Spa is beautiful and well appinted (although again, service at Quench in the spa was HORRIBLE.)All in all well probably be back, but this time Ill know where service is lacking and avoid those.

Been here on a number of occassions always had lovely time. However on this occasion there were not enough staff to provide even a reasonable level of service. Not enough sun parasols around the pool area - think that was deliberate - directing to the shaded areas which incurred yet another fee. No yoga classes available as advertised.Really disappointed, not a great experience, will consider looking else where next time we in San Antonio.

Cons:Rooms as others have mentioned are outdated and have a mildew/damp smell. The pools are flooded with trash from others eating and drinking in area. They do not seem to have staff to clean up pool areas.Pros:Nice premise and views of the cityOverall very disappointed in what’s considered a luxury hotel but does not live up to it.

Front desk was inconsistent, lady next to me was a given a map of the hotel and showed which way her room was , while I have to ask for a map and ask which way to walk to find my room. Breakfast buffet was over priced , food is mediocre. Mexican restaurant by the pool had great service but food is not good at all. 24 hour restaurant (most affordable )ran out of food on a Saturday night at 9pm , not good if you have been swimming all day, and expected to conveniently purchase food and there wasn’t any available. Jared waiter by kids pool was A+. Nothing is inclusive at the resort. You have to pay extra for everything. High priced hotel with pools and view.

Amazing resort with beautiful views and landscaping. Great area. The rooms could use a bit of a renovation. The full dining restaurants are spectacular, but the Mexican restaurant and pool restaurant could be much better for a resort of this caliber. Very cheap (store bought tortillas, velveeta cheese queso, etc) for a place this nice.

The staff was polite and the location and view was amazing. Only issues were the distance from the room to the elevator was at least a football field away from the room. The room was nice except for after lifting my bags that Id place on the floor next to the air-condition, my bag was soaking wet so much so that my things inside the bag were dampen. I also notice several of the bugs that curl up into a ball when you touched them with tissue when trying to remove them. They were everywhere, in the bathroom and on the floors. They served us a lunch meal outside, the food looked delicious but there were flies all over the food since there were no servers to protect the food from the flies. The kid at the valet was somewhat disappointed at taking my car to valley apparently as he asked me when I arrived and gave him my key if I was wanting to valet this. And after receiving the car for departure the tire pressure light was on which Im assuming a nail was in my tire due to all of the road construction on the property leading from the entrance gate to the main lobby.

My aunts surprised me with a trip here for my birthday and you couldnt tell me we didnt leave the country! I was truly blown away by the property, food, service and the resort itself. There are so many amazing things I can say about this property. Not to mention, we met a great group of people at the pool and spent the whole night hanging out. The spa is just as amazing! We spent an entire day just using the facilities, getting treatments and grabbed lunch at the little café downstairs. Dont even think twice, just book it!

Fantastic resort. Bellmen, concierge, front desk, room service...they were all Fantastic and very helpful. The multiple pools were exceptionally clean and theres even pools setup for adults only. There are kid friendly pools as well. Several restaurants on sight, should be able to find something for everyone. The golf course is beautiful!! The clubhouse personnel and all related to golf course were very helpful and knowledgeable about the course. The rental clubs are by far the best rentals Ive ever used. The restaurant ar the course was my favorite, great bar/finger food after a exceptional round of golf.

This place is such a great jewel in the San Antonio area. The resort is amazing, with good restaurants and service. The spa was also amazing with sauna, heated pool, and steam room. The great thing about the spa is that once youre done, you can stay and enjoy the rest day in their amenities.

Everything was pretty good. Staff is extremely friendly! Rooms are great! Our BIGGEST complaint is how warm the pools are. The “heated” pool is not necessary during 100 degree weather. The pool felt like lukewarm bath water. It was very hard to be comfortable. It was so hot and the water was not refreshing at all. Maybe turn this feature off during hot summer months? At least In the adult only pools.

We have stayed at La Cantera many times over the past 20 years, both for banking conferences and for mini-vacations. The resort has always been top notch. On our most recent stay this past weekend, though, the level of service was extraordinary. Our room was upgraded to start, and then it seemed every single staff member on the resort grounds made eye contact and greeted us as we walked around. I would say their level of service matched what we see when we stay at a Ritz-Carlton. Everyone seemed interested in making our stay pleasant. In a post-Covid world, you just dont see that anymore. The grounds, restaurants, and golf course are fabulous. Yes, La Cantera is expensive, but with this kind of service, its also a great value. We are looking forward to our next trip there.

This resort was absolutely amazing! The views were beautiful even on a cloudy day, the multiples pools (all, kids, 21+ only), the incredibly welcoming and warming hospitality, my husband booked the adult only 7th floor and the perks were great, we had reservations at Signature which was delicious, we will definitely be extending our stay next time and checking in on time so we can enjoy all the other perks, seriously charming/lovely place and added to one of our favorite in-state visits! Thanks for the great stay Cantera!

Disappointed. Treated like a homeless person asking for a handout. Rooms were not ready at check in with no real explanation. Concierge was rude. Booked a suite that was supposed to have an adjoining room but they gave that away and provided a room all the way across the hotel instead, defeating the purpose of our family staying together. Valets vaping and getting into people’s vehicles. They lost water during the stay (not their fault) but instead of letting guests know and making a plan they just kept serving food and drinks like nothing was wrong even though people couldn’t even use the bathroom or wash. That is just awful. Overall we felt like instead of being catered to as expected from a “high end” resort we were made to feel like we just didn’t belong. This place appears nice on the surface but take a closer look and I think you will see it is just a facade sadly.

My wife and I really enjoyed this resort. It was our second time there in five years. This time, we spent most of our time at the 21yo and older pool and ate at the restaurants. I’d like to call out Steven, Alex, Nick and George. They were our servers and went above and beyond every time for us. They made our pool experience perfect. As for the room, it was a simple room and very clean. We could not hear our neighbors, except one baby who cried every so often. Overall, I’d strongly recommend this resort if you are in the San Antonio area. Be aware, it’s not a cheap resort but worth every dollar.

We have stated at La Cantera several times and have NEVER been treated the way we were recently. They has us booked us on a date that we previously cancelled, and when the date came, they charged us a $389 cancellation fee. When I called reservations to address it, the rep was VERY rude, said they had full authority to charge a cancelation fee without any regard to the situation or acknowledgment that it was their mistake, and hung up on me. This was completely their fault, and something weve never dealt with at any hotel before. This place used to be known for customer service and care, thats all gone now. BEWARE.

We decided to go out of our norm and try a different resort this time around. We picked a room with a view and did not opt for the adults only floor. We were incredibly disappointed with the state of our room... we would not classify the hotel rooms as anywhere near luxury. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We made full use of the hiking trail, pools, hot tub, and fire pits. However, we will not book here for future visits to Hill Country.

I booked a room here and cancelled three weeks out and received a confirmation email of full refund. When reviewing my credit card statement, a month after I was originally supposed to stay, they had charged me $1500 for the three full nights as a no-show, yet I didn’t not receive a phone call nor any invoice or email notification. I called and after investigating they said the charge was by accident and ultimately refunded my money. The situation seemed deceptive given I cancelled online and received confirmation, hence my review. I should not need to be auditing my credit card statement to discover this.

Rooms were ok, I did expect a lot better for the exorbitantly priced stay. Service staff super friendly, well mannered and helpful.Self Parking is horrible, a variable punishment for not using the valet service, which is great, but not affordable to even modestly earning persons...Amenities are amazing, also however if you want to use them, bring a fat wallet... a few hundred will be gone with even the most basic spa use...Overall a super nice place, however it is definately not a place to if you dont want to spend upwards of 1k each day... otherwise you will be starring at numbers, womdering just how much you can afford... a week here could eat up 10 grand fast if you dont pay attention...

Beautiful location. Amazing views. Spectacular staff. The actual resort itself is lack luster and has not aged well. There was hair in the “fresh” bath towels. The buffet at Sweet Fire Grill was mediocre, attentive staff, multiple dirty plates at serving stations, and cold food.

The only time it would go away was when I stepped out of the room into the fresh air outside. Apart from the smell, it was a comfortable room. The service was by far immaculate. The bellhop was very friendly and helped with the bags. The valets quickly got the car or would quickly shuttle you to your vehicle if you forgot something. The shuttle service drives you from the resort to the other areas around the resort. The attendants would call to check if everything was satisfactory. The restaurant employees readily welcomed and tended to the customers. It is located up in the hills of San Antonio and the mall is about a mile away. The hotel is very old and so were the rooms. It has carpet and a musty smell you can’t get rid of. For paying close to $500 a night, you expect it to be clean.
