05/24/24. After a great steak dinner at a very popular restaurant at St Armands Circle, we wanted to check out some live music at a club because it was still early (10 pm). Some of the night spots were closing down already. A local told us to try the Gator Club. We drove over there but hesitated to go in because there were several police cars with lights on in front of the club and 8 police officers standing in front of the place with a big crowd outside of the club. We decided that maybe it was better to skip this place with that type of action going on. We headed back to our hotel.
Last Friday The bartender at the first floor, by the men bathroom was rude and racist. I was not even drunk, it was just me watching a good band and I ask for my fourth beer and the guy make the sign with his hand cutting the throat and say no more service for you … I have to move to the other bar to order for my beer and leave. It was my first time there. So bad.
Checked out Johnny Diamond at Gators last month and had to stay for their whole show. Loved their retro selection and personal spin. It was busy and happening but not packed. No wait for cocktails, room to hang out, and plenty of dancing. $5 cover was a bargain. Nice to have music that rocks and plays past 11 pm. The Gator Club certainly provides a rare and needed service to the Sarasota community and I thank them. Running a 2 AM dance club with live music (and DJ upstairs) can’t be easy. It gives service industry folk a chance to enjoy weekends as well. Almost every other place is empty and closed before midnight.
Hadn’t planned to go to The Gator Club when the evening started but so glad we ended up here because we had an amazing time! Lots of energy that just continues to increase. We really enjoyed the Whiskey bar with so many wonderful selections to choose from. Great service from staff that seems happy to be working there and excellent band. Definitely will be back soon!
Drinks are outrageously overpriced and cant make a drink correctly to the point that they taste like poison. Couldnt make a simple shot of sex on the beach, a hurricane, a nasty tasting long Island, or even a purple hooter. After trying to just get one drink and couldnt get even one right decided that $13 for a long island and terrible that I will not return especially with a ten dollar cover! They should be paying me 10 to try their awful drinks from inexperienced artemders. The old man as a bartender has a monstrous attitude problem with usto.ers who throw him a tip. He should be fired the way he treated my friend for asking for change for playing pool.

The Gator Club on main street, Sarasota has a great atmosphere, and super cool visitors. Wednesday is karaoke night for the ones who like to sing a tune. Gator Club has a bingo night as well, you can win sexy adult prizes. Music is good, DJ s and bands playing (ask them what night they play) . This hidden gem is located in a beautiful aria with restaurants and places to have a great timeI met a cool security guy while sitting outside. Thank you Caesar! Hope to visit soon again!
Constructed in 1912 as a general store with residential space upstairs. Then sold and turned into a cigar & soda fountain store. After prohibition ended it was sold and turned into a bar frequented by Ringling brothers circus specifically the animal handlers. In 1940 name was changed to “the gator club” In 1988 Jay Foley purchased the bar and invested a lot of money to return it to its original appearance (historial designation 1997 tax breaks for all the work done)
My Friday night escapade led me to The Gator Club in Sarasota, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! The friendly atmosphere kicked in right at the entrance, with the girls at the bar setting the tone for the night. Their warmth and helpfulness made ordering a breeze, and they were the architects of some fantastic conversations. As the clock ticked past 11:30, the place transformed into a lively hub of energy. The vibrant crowd, infectious music, and overall atmosphere created the perfect recipe for a night to remember. The Gator Club isnt just a bar; its a magnet for those seeking a lively downtown experience in Sarasota. Cheers to the fantastic staff, the lively crowd, and the unforgettable Friday night memories! Highly recommend for anyone looking to spice up their evening in downtown Sarasota.
We’ve been twice and had a great time. Only complaint is the strong musty smell upstairs like they’ve had or have a water and/or mold problem.
The Gator Club is an excellent night club to hang out on any day of the week live music goes down 5-7 nights a week in the club friendly people lots of singles ,good service, greatatmosphere just a awsome place to hit after dinner or a burger at one of the many restaurants surrounding the Gator clubFor me the upstairs bar room is the spot lots of locals and people who frequent the club to hear D.J.d music crisp and loud or to shoot some 8 Ball on the billiard table that is located upstairs. Clean, old school friendly, and if your looking to hook up you just might The Gator Club you cant go wrong! Live Music! Ample parking, Beautiful people from all walks of life. Every time I’m at the Gator club it a great time the Bar tenders are awesome the music is always good the atmosphere is wonderful upstairs still has that original feeling the way it was at the turn of the century five. Stars on my review.
Would have been a blast if it wasn’t for only one bad bartender. Left because of it. The MC as awesome though.
The Gator Club is an absolute gem in every sense of the word! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with an atmosphere that exuded warmth and energy. Five stars without a doubt – this place has it all and more!
Absolute worst club I ever been to !! Every bar has different prices and if you don’t tip the bartenders to their likings you get thrown out !
Bottom bar bartender definitely on H - just floating through life high as hell - good luck management winning
A packed 3rd of July night with karaoke contest downstairs, pool tables bustling upstairs and salsa in the front room upstairs
Don’t order the rum and coke it tastes like cold medicine. also waiting for wednesday karaoke for almost 2 hours and they didn’t tell us it cuts off at 1:30 so we waited for over 90 minutes without a warning. they let people pay to cut the line for karaoke too so be prepared for that. were really rude about the wait and pretty much everything else. they atmosphere would have been better if the experience was nicer.
Gorgeous historical building. Sean was fantastic. Polite, friendly, and a breath of fresh air. Drinks were delicious. Pool was free the night we went. Karaoke downstairs was the best I have experienced in years. Able to bring in food. Atmosphere was my favorite part. Thank you guys for a fantastic memory for our vacation!
Samantha was great, very attentive and good at keeping the atmosphere fun even on a Tuesday night.
We go to Bingo on Tuesdays….CRAZY FUN!!! The host Mike is soooo good! But some Tuesdays we bow out because the bartender Michelle is so nasty that we don’t want to put up with her negativity. She doesn’t care how nice people are, or how well we tip….she’s mean.
The absolute BEST customer service around. The staff here makes sure that the customers have the best experience no matter the day, time, or situation. Thank you all for going above and beyond!
Great bar, Shaun is a cool bar tender. Awesome venue and location.
This is a cool little bar, prices are reasonable, and the security is good. Caesar is a very cool kat!
They didn’t accept my foreign passport. Must be a USA ID or passport.
$11 for one Tito’s drink. Are we in NYC?? No, Sarasota! Get real!
There is a cover charge but if you are military, you get in for free! Thank you for honoring our service members. Im assuming there was a cover charge bc of the band & DJ.We loved the Reggae Band! Absolutely wonderful! Looking forward to seeing them again. Upstairs, the DJ was on point! Sully did amazing! As long as these two are there, I will definitely return.Reason a 5 was not given, the female bartender upstairs where the DJ was located was rude & unprofessional. If you come to work with a negative attitude then dont come!
Always a fun night out. Good music.Update 1 year later: Discovered they have reggae night on Thursday’s with an amazing live band. Usually I’ll go on weekends and they have two floors to choose from with different music. But Thursday was really fun too!Plus, someone accidentally bumped into me and spilled my beer....not even 5 minutes later the security brought me a new one. You can’t bear the service here and the people that come are always nice too. (A more mature crowd) Definitely recommend.
New to sarasotaStaff was great.Overpriced drinks, and generally dead environment.patrons seems to have a grudge for outsiders.$10 cover charge was seriously not warranted except maybe for live music.Had a much better time at Smokin Joes Pub and the office, also Raffurtys Bar and Grill. If you are over 40 years old, this place is probably for you, otherwise, try your luck somewhere else.
Great atmosphere, pool tables upstairs, live music (bands, DJ’s, karaoke), four bars running on busy nights, friendly bartenders, bouncers, and managers with great personalities. Local favorite and tourist destination. A must for anyone looking to experience the culture and feel of downtown Sarasota.
I hate to even post anything considering I come here daily but we have a friend in out of town who’s handicap and the bar by the dj wouldnt let us pull up a chair and sit down. I pulled one and the bartender yelled at me. The bartender Knowingly could see our friend could barely walk nor stand and none of the booths had any seating. He told me “no it’s standing bar only try to find a booth or stand”. And moved the chair I tried to bring over. Whats unfortunate about all of this is because idk if I’ll return. Sucks because there’s a few bartenders we love to see here. But honestly Places even dive bars/clubs like these should be a little more accommodating for people with disabilities…. I will say the bartender from Cincinnati who was working the other bar was very helpful and accommodating and we did let our friend sit and bring up a chair no issues there. but after that incident our guest from out of town just wanted to leave which I don’t blame him he felt completely disrespected.
The club used to be a fun and relaxing place, but they have recently really disappointed me. I had purchased a VIP card years ago, but the last time I went, one of the security members took my card to explain to another security member that I had the right to enter the side entrance with a guest. I didnt realize at the time that he never gave my card back, and when I went to collect it from him later that night he claimed he didnt have it.
They will not let disabled people in...with thier service dog... Im a disabled veteran with a trained dog..with VA papers...and I was refused entry...This a again the law...Im going back and getting it on video!
DON’T GO HERE! The bouncers are awful people that probably just work there to have an excuse to beat people to a pulp without getting arrested for it. They jumped my friends and ruthlessly beat them. Keep in mind my friends didn’t try to fight them at all and didn’t even throw any punches. My buddy was just yelling for help as this bouncer had him in a head lock just ruthlessly beating him, punching him in the head over and over again. It seemed as if the bouncers had a bad day and were just wanting an excuse to kill somebody. My friends are not fighters and didn’t put up a fight at all. The bouncers just kept beating them and threw my friends face first down the stairs after. This USED TO BE a great place. Not anymore. They seriously need to fire some people.
How great we feel every time we are here at The Gator Club! If you visit our town and want to be part of Sarasota nightlife you cant miss this club. The atmosphere is a lot of fun. Not just the live bands downstairs always play great music but also upstairs the DJ. Great drinks! Always a good vibe and everyone is very welcoming.
Ive been going here for a few months now and every time i walk in its always so pleasant to be greeted by the staff. Its nice to decide whether you want to hear a live band play downstairs or if you go upstairs you can see a DJ playing. Drinks are always good and tasty.
Bouncers / security are violent terrible human beings. Their job is the protect the bar and the patrons within. Instead they just escalated a misunderstanding and violently beat down long time customers. I couldn’t believe my eyes with how brutal they were beating someone that wasn’t even fighting back and just screaming for help as they were punching him in the head over and over while he was pinned on the floor. Don’t go here looking to have fun, you might be the bouncers next victim. Do better gator club.
Awesome bartenders, crowd, and live music. Will return EVERY time I come to Sarasota. My new favorite place.
Great service on a very busy St. Patricks eve street party
After having a wonderful sit down discussion today with the owner about the attitude of one of their doormen last night, I got to know him, and Im glad I did. He took almost a whole 2 hours out of his day to make me feel welcome at this establishment. However awful I was treated by an employee clearly did not reflect the amount of respect the ownership/management have for Veterans/the disabled!! Family owned and operated, it used to be an old brothel. The upstairs features a DJ at night in the midst of beautiful woodwork and every kind of whiskey imaginable, they have the largest selection in Sarasota. The downstairs features a stage with a large bar and a smaller one by the door. It is where they have live music, perfect for dancing! All things considered it is a very nice place. The reason I gave it 4 stars was the attitude of that one employee as I said above but, dont let one bad apple spoil the tree.
10$ cover charge is crazy for a Friday night and no band..(well apparently there was but since I didnt have cash to enter I didnt get to hear it from even outside!) Never been before... never will to again Sat outside since I didnt want to pay and watched the bouncers and other workers instigate drunks trying to enter by shoving them almost knocking into me... looks like a lot of drama and the community seems to agree. I would be embarrassed if this was my establishment or my families!
The blonde manager was extremely aggressive with me and did not train her staff appropriately as to what the dress code was and just wanted to take our money. When I tried to speak with her about the issue she got in my face and was very disrespectful! I will never return to this establishment ever and will instruct all of my friends in the Sarasota area not to support a discriminatory place as this. Very disappointed!
Could use an upgrade esp on stairsDrinks are always on point and bartenders are always fast and sweetThe city police harassing people leaving takes from the great experience
This place was pretty fun. There was a cover for the live music when we went, but nbd. The bouncers were friendly and the girls working the bar downstairs and upstairs were all super nice and really helpful.
Very nice place. Everyone was friendly. The atmosphere was awesome. I didn’t eat any food there so I can’t read the food. Going back soon.
Theres no way that upstairs floor isnt collapsing one day. I dont want to be up there when it does and I sure dont want to be underneath either. When its busy and crowded everyone is condensed into a group right in front of the DJ booth. Changed my review to 2 stars because I thought Id give it another shot but the vibes are soooo off. Just stank people and stank looks. Music is trash, I could hear the songs they play on the throwback radio station all day every day.
Great local bar with hometown and old school feel and flavor. Regular people, not trendy or hipster, but natural style and engaging, unforced service.
Great place, a lot of fun. I think the bouncers should take a chill pill though and not get violent with people. In three occasions I’ve witnessed them overreact and even hurt people. I’d suggest management to encourage staff to start treating people with more respect. Most people are actually really nice, they should start assuming that everybody is nice, more likely than not, that’s going to be the right move.
Should have believed and listened to the other bad reviews. Our experience was not any different.Horrific service, terrible management, and bouncers always on some sort of power trip. Bouncers/ security doormen were beyond rude. We couldn’t even ask them questions without them threatening to kick us out. We were a group of 5 ladies and were sitting outside and had ordered some drinks. There was a $10 cover to go inside, however we were told to be in the clear as we were sitting outside. We asked our server if we could use the restrooms and she said yes, just to talk to security. A few of us went to ask how we could use the restroom, and bouncers began to yell at us saying we were harassing them and gave zero solutions to how we could use restrooms. Side door bouncers told us to ask the front door bouncers, but once we walked to the front, the side door bouncers had ran to the front and told the front door bouncers not to let us in. Front door bouncers spoke to us as if we were children who did not know how to speak English. At one point they suggested we went to a different restaurant to simply use their bathrooms. We saw several people leave their ID’s with the bouncers to use the restroom inside but for some reason that was not acceptable for our party. Bouncers, managers, and other employees were all staring and talking about us, pointing fingers, etc. An extremely unpleasant experience and will never go back. We will be sure to let everyone else know to never go to this club.
Drinks were not good for their price, signed up for karaoke 2 hours in advance and they closed before i was able to sing. rude attendees as well
We where looking for live music, preferably salsa or merengue. But we found a live Jamaican band instead. Perfect! The server was very friendly and hospitable. We danced like we havent danced in a long time! I do have pictures on my phone, maybe ill upload them when I have more time.. Great place for a night out in Sarasota!
The music selection is very poor and lacking. I dont enjoy the live bands that perform downstairs and the DJs that perform upstairs really stink. Not a wide variety of females to socialize with here, so if youre into women with different shapes and sizes its slim pickings. The only thing I like about this club are the drink prices, and the great location with plenty of parking spaces. Unless this club figures out a way to broaden its customer base more diversely, I dont recommend coming here.
The location, area, and establishment along with staff are lovely, inviting and pleasant. The drinks are reasonably priced and delicious Matt makes awesome drinks! THANK YOU. The DJ however, on Sat 6/3 was HORRIBLE! He played the same songs over & over. (you should not here a song more than once on a blend.) He did not even flow from one to the next. I could have connected my phone and played Pandora w/ads and it would have been a HIT!.
I am somewhat of a regular weekender at The Gator Club and I have only good things to say about the place! The staff is very courteous and friendly, the location is easy to access with ample parking to the back of the building and the building itself although old and historic, has a character of its own. They have such a wide variety of music going on their and the age ranges from 21-71! I know that you cant make everyone happy but the place is always packed and people always seem to enjoy themselves there!I highly recommend The Gator Club! See you there!
This place is perfect. Downstairs is a bar and the dance floor with some seating. Upstairs has low lighting with comfortable lounging areas, a tv, a second bar, and an overall quiet atmosphere where you can still hear the live music downstairs. It has something for everyone here, without being too overcrowded.
Had an amazing night here celebrating NYE. The staff are accommodating and will spark a conversation with you (when they’re not so busy. After reading all the bad reviews about security, I would like to point out that the security are NOT there to be your buddy. They are there to keep people safe and I think they do a fantastic job. In the world of bars, you have to except trouble when you’re surrounding by drunk people and some, that clearly drink too much and can’t handle it. This is not the bars fault and after being a randomly attacked by a very drunk man, for no reason... it was a pleasure to see them act immediately, professionally and calm. If it wasn’t for you guys being so responsive, it could have gone a very different way and for that I am forever grateful. Everyone makes mistakes, we’re only human and if you get penalised for something, even if you are not in the wrong there is always a reason and I believe that it’s how you behave towards the staff, will reflect on their behaviour to you.Bartenders Fantasia and friendly, lovely venue with comfy seats and a smoking are up stairs (inside). Drinks are averagely priced, great music and a great vibe. Don’t be out off by the bad reviews, you can’t please everyone and I can only imagine how hard their job must be. Keep it guys, we will back! Thank you!
Have never been to the Gator Club as a customer, however have been planning to go for a while now. Two nights ago my girlfriend and I were playing Pokémon Go downtown and were asked by a man for money. When we said no he began following us. As I’ve lived in a city before, I know how important it is to be able to read your surroundings and react accordingly. I pulled my girlfriend into the Gator Club and watched as the strange man rounded the corner and stayed there. I informed the bouncer of what was going on and he went above and beyond to walk us out of the establishment and stand guard until the man saw him and walked back the way that he came. I made sure to wish he bouncer a good night and we took a short walk to our car. Had it not been for the bouncer I’m certain that we would’ve been mugged. This was on Tuesday night. I can say that the Gator Club just gained two customers and I feel incredibly safe there. Thank you for looking out for the ladies downtown and we will DEFINITELY be back soon!
What a fun bar to visit while in Sarasota! We went with a group of friends on a Saturday night and they had a live band playing 90s/early 2000s sing alongs. It was a blast. The drinks were very reasonable and service was quick enough for a packed bar!
Place is ok, but we encountered extremely poor customer service here. Bartender mixed up cards and got tabs wrong. On top of openly refusing to help (sayd she was sure its not her fault), her cursing at customers seemed to not bother the other staff. She asked security to take us out (and they did) without even willing to double check her work.We ended up talking to a manager in the morning and resolving the problem. The crowd isnt bad but Id avoid any further head aches with this bar.
Nice place to dance. ....clean as well as spacious dance floor space.GO upstairs and play some pool and grab a cocktail.Downtown Sarasota is fairly safe ......cops all over the place.Dont drive take a cab. UBER!!Pretty much the only nightlife thing to do in Sarasota.Note: Warning !! DANGER!!I HAVE BEEN GOING TO GATORS FOR YEARS DURING THE MONTH OF MAY .I HAVE A timeshare in the area. For some reason people over drink and the night air is warm.Well.... people have a tendency to fall going out the door of GATORS.I have witness several injuries of people falling on the side walk from tripping on the steps of Gators. Why doesnt this get corrected???Way to many unnecessary inquiries.
Ive been here twice. Very interesting place. On the weekends, the night is full of bands on the 1st floor and a DJ on the 2nd floor. Im not one for DJs, but the place was packed and would be perfect for anyone who does! I havent seen the game area, but I hear theres billiards and such. They have music all week, or at least every time Ive gone by. Great place to relax, drink great beer, and meet new people during the week.
One of the best live music clubs in downtown Sarasota. The Daisy Dukes Band plays here once a month and the place is super fun when they are here. The place has two bars and a live music stage on the main level, with TVs for watching the games. There are 2 more bars on the upper level with a dance room and a billiards room. Its conveniently located on Downtowns Main St., and theres a parking garage across the street.
Pop the rock put on a great show on Saturday night they really laid it down and bar tenders were great and security was on there game no buckets 5 dollars a beer. But that’s for a great time and the gator club
Old house-style made into 2 story bar. Pool tables upstairs. Fair rock band. Not the friendliest atmosphere. Small, crowded and cramped. Gator is OK to stop for an over-priced drink ... but there are so many nicer places to go for a good time - I would not recommend. Previous poor reviews are correct - do not waste your time and $ at this old bordello. Bring your friends elsewhere.
My best friends band play here all the time and I just about got thrown put by the bouncer by the stage for saying hi...also the bar tenders are completely rude and morons. Wont switch the games up on TV and have no idea what a drink is. Fun but not worth the trip
Great place for dancing, cocktails and live music. The only problem is they allow smoking inside. You leave smelling like smoke and are exposed to 2nd hand cigarette smoke. I want to have fun not die of lung cancer. Send the smokers outside !!!!!
Well, Ive never been here. But from a having a career in management there is enough reviews here to warrant a possible change. It seems there is an overwhelming common denominator regarding your security. The worst thing you can do is not listen to your customers. There is a reason why all these fortune 500 companies spend millions on reviews and feedback. Good luck.I had to give a star indicator to write any kind of message. I dont know if you warrant 3 stars...I just think comments about security is telling.
Great place. The Staff are very professional. There are 2 floors for music. There is also a great variety of beer & liquor. I highly recommend. Fridays and Saturdays tend to be their busiest nights. Sunday to Saturday, down stairs, there are a variety of bands of varying genres of music that play, although for the most part they are pretty consistent with the line up day. Upstairs, where there is a pool table and bar and kind of reminds you of a 1950s penthouse or gentlemens club, there are sometimes events and on Fri & Sat there is a dj. Most of the djs are good, playing hip hop and EDM. Something for most.
Great club. Amazing bands. Cool energy and phenomenal people. Absolutely love this place. Cheers!!
The atmstophere was real nice.it has two floors. Live band downstairs and DJ upstairs. Dj plays nice music to dance to but cuts it short while dancing. Some stuff he mixed was good and some stuff was ok. There is a $5.00 cover fee. But overall it was nice . security is all over the place too.
I used to like this place, now they want a $10 cover to even go upstairs and drink their overpriced whiskeys. No thanks, Ill go elsewhere.
Gator Club was and is awesome. Chris took care of us like a VIP. We will be back soon! Love you guys!
I went to change my number and they changed my brothers number, they deleted the wrong one, the staff there told me that it couldnt be done and they mistreated me, they dont know anything about technology there and they are all inept, they didnt solve the problem and the T-mobile helped me with the problem which I am with themnow super efficient and attentive
Decent night club.. Kind of small though. Has upstairs d.js and live bands down stairs. Gets pretty crowded by 11:30pm. But definitely Worth a night out if the band or DJ is good!
From the sounds of it.. the Gator Club has gone down hill now that Ernie Ritz doesnt own it!! Very sad to hear.. it was a awesome place to go and grow up when he was the owner. It was always clean, good service, and the owner cared! I was proud to send people to the Gator club who were visiting Sarasota.. I guess Ill send them elsewhere. SMH 😏Its not necessary for me to respond to the owner as they have requested. I can read perfectly fine the reviews that prove my point. Its dirty, Smoked out, and horrible service. Not to mention the bouncers who have roid rage. Im good. No need to explain. The reviews are here for a reason. 🤔🤷♀️
I cant stand to go to a club and have to breath cigarette smoke. That is the case here and it is the only one around that still allows smoking inside. Besides being unhealthy, the place stinks from the smoke! Continued...Since I cant respond to the owners response, I can only edit mine. I have only reviewed on 3 sites but at your request, I will go to all the others. And as you know, the real problem is with your staff not keeping the rules you state you have about smoking. And you would rather keep your staff happy than your customers. Poor way to run a business!
They let their security manhandle women for no reason with zero consequences. This is not a safe place for women, you will be verbally and physically assaulted by their security and management will not do anything about it. Disgusting.
Absolutely rude security!!Treat people without any respect.there is constructing going on at Main Street and we were not sure from which side we‘re able to enter the location because there was no clear signage(sign was down)Started yelling at us and pointing with finger on our group! Thanks!there are many more opportunities to have a beer with friendlier stuff!
Terrible service. Avoid this place/ i was here on Tuesday and a guy and a woman (“bartender” lol) threatened me. Rude and disrespectful people on ground level, gentlemen on 2nd floor. You better go somewhere else. Happy holidays !
Sean Dargin is a Sarasota staple. Only other bartenders wish they were as good as him Top notch with great humor! Him and Mark Miller are the only reason I keep coming back. Dont change a thing guys!
This is a two-story bar. Downstairs is more of a rock Club and upstairs has just recently turned into a lounge with tables you can sit at as well as a pool table. They offer a full bar with specialty drinks but is a little pricey.
ICONIC HISTORIC BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN SARASOTA!!! GREAT VIBES GREAT STAFF!! BINGO ON TUESDAYS TO WIN ADULT PRIZES .. WEDNESDAYS ARE FOR KAREOKE... LIVE REGGAE MUSIC WITH JAH MOVEMENT EVERY THURSDAY WITH DJ UPSTAIRS!!! ALSO LIVE MUSIC DOWNSTAIRS WITH DJ UPSTAIRS FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS!! SUNDAYS AND MONDAYS THERES A VERY WELCOMING OLDER GENTLEMAN SEAN WHO IS AMAZING!!!!
Arguably the best overall club in Downtown Sarasota.Band on the first floor, DJ on the 2nd.2 separate bars on each floor.
Be aware. Bouncers are very aggressive here for absolutely no reason and for people half there size. I have video of them throwing my friend down the stairs almost breaking his neck. They are lucky I don’t take this further and he is fine. Won’t be returning anytime soon along with the others I was with.
If you like a place with horrible service, smokey, dirty, sticky with a bunch of aggressive steroided out bouncers than this place is for you. The place was nice in the early 90s. A complete dump today. Needs a complete makeover and an entire new staff.
Great bartenders great prices, these two guys stole drinks I tried to tip the bartender as much as I could cause I felt bad she was a nice girl. An to do a good deed like that an be treated absolutely HORRIBLE BY SECURITY when a women told me to leave a spot that no one was sitting in cause she claims I was stealing her spot light an when I refused to leave cause I was waiting on a friend she threw a drink in my face this security guard gave me two sprained wrists a hematoma in each wrists an when I tried to grab my money off the floor he punches my sister in the back several times as shes trying to get my phone off the ground keep in mind this guy is 4x times our size my sister is 54 an as he comes back over to me to remove me from the club as Im trying tell him he pulled my top down he pushes me so hard the downtown side walks are huge an I still landed in the street with my breasts exposed GREAT place SECURITY IS COMPLETY HORRIBLE AN DOES NOT MAKE THIS PLACE FEEL SAFE AN ABUSE OF POWER EMBARRASED FOR YOU HOW YOU GUYS MADE THE ESTABLISHMENT LOOK SECURTY GUARD BEING EXTREMELY FORCEFULLY NEEDS TO BE FIRED HE IS THE WHITE BALLED ONE VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WILL BE POSTING PICS
They smoke cigarettes on the dance floor and everywhere inside making it IMPOSSIBLE to stay there and dance to a great band.
Stupid lickspittles here think they own the street, sidewalk, and half the utilities on the road. Maybe they should be more concerned about the 17 year old girls in bikinis on their stage every weekend.
Really cool place until me and the shot girl bumped into each other and she dropped her whole shot tray. Then i was forced to pay 100 dollars for a complete accident in a crowded bar. Definitely not what I was expecting while on vacation.
Brett and Chris were so sweet to me at the door! This place is always poppin and can’t go wrong with a hot dog stand out front!
The Gator Club has it all. Friendly service, great live entertainment, reasonably priced drinks, great mixture of younger and older crowds, and to top it off, this two-story bar has the delightful aesthetic of an early 20th century saloon... mostly because, it was an early 20th century saloon, established 1913. If you have the opportunity, visit the upstairs bar, play a game of pool, then relax on a chaise lounge with a cocktail. Definitely bring a friend along, if you can, to share the experience.
1st floor is almost better than second floor, horrible remixes on the 2nd floor. You definitely need a better DJ on a Saturday. The band is better than the 2nd floor…
Music, dancing, and pool. Band downstairs and a DJ upstairs. Monday and Tuesday open tables and no cover. As a local, I think this is the place to check out if youre new in town. Cover $5 after 9pm and it picks up by 10:30-11:00.
The owners of this place are racist they charge 10 dollars to get inside on weekends this place is not safe for anyone to be around the music that they play is very unattractive
The gator club had wonderful employees! Jay, Jason, & Jessie! They were the best! Highly recommend this bar for a goodnight out in downtown Sarasota, FL
Security here is extremely over the top. As someone whos bounced before its extremely unprofessional to try to watch anyone use the bathroom between the deviders reguardless of the circumstance. Then again maybe some of your security is on the down low. Wont ever be back. Keep your 5 bucks or 10 whatever the cover is go to smokin joes down the road security wont stare at you while you relieve yourself
I was very disappointed in Gator Club management. Ive been to gator club several times, and had a very good experience till the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago I lost my phone there, and when I called looking for it two days after the loss, the employee notified me they didn’t find any iPhones. The girl who answered the phone told me she would wait for a manager to open the safe where it could possibly be. Later they called me back saying there is not iPhone.A week later - thanks to the technology- I received a message on my new Iphone, that my lost phone was turned on and located at the specific address. I called police and filed the report. The officer went to the location, and guess who had my iPhone? It was a Gator Clubs owner. Police officer brought my phone back to my apartment, and told me the owner had my phone in her safe all this time, and decided to bring it home to charge it. Remember, they told me they didn’t have my phone. On the screen my lost phone had a message: “it is a lost phone, please call this.. number” The owner had never called that number. I just found it to be very suspicious. It is shameful for somebody to hurt reputation of a popular club in such a way.
Its either empty or you have to pay cover. Security and doormen are very rude. Everyone who works here is on drugs, and theyll offer to sell them to you. Fights are common because they over serve people who are already drunk. I saw the barback cut himself while chopping limes and even though blood got all over the fruit, I saw him put it in the container that the bartender used to garnish drinks. Nasty! They also put bar snacks back into the container after customers have run their hands through them. Drinks are weak and overpriced. Bartenders are slow and inattentive, and if youre not a big-tipping regular you may completely be ignored. The clientele is AWFUL. People are so rude, if youre sitting in the parlor upstairs be prepared to be stepped on and have grotesque butts in your face. Youre lucky you even got a seat--there are not enough stools and chairs. NOT handicapped accessible-there are stairs at one entrance and no elevator to get to the second floor. The bands are truly awful and the music is way too loud. Forget about socializing here. Be prepared to wait forever for the bathroom and when you do get in its likely to be covered in vomit. On weekends its extremely packed, impossible to move or dance in. Great place to go if youre a sardine!!
Great drinks !! Guaranteed a great band downstairs !! Upstairs DJ are always great too !! I like the fact you can change it up with 2 levels music all in same building !! Been there a lot NEVER a bad time !!
Always a pleasure.I dont visit at night much....have to get up early for work.Never had a bad experience there.Definitely a must see venue when visiting downtown Sarasota
Worst experience I’ve had downtown. The old bartender there was extremely rude.
Super sketch crowd and weird bartenders. Smokey, unfriendly and the blonde bartender CANNOT do math. Watch your check / change. Will not go back. Lots of other places around to get a drink.
Fun place to dance. Live bands downstairs and a dj upstairs. Can be quite hot on crowded weekends and bathrooms are tiny. Drinks are reasonable.
First time in Florida on vacation with family. The atmosphere was great and service was excellent as well!!! Great drinks, Great Music and Great people!!
Exterior can be seen in movie Greatest Show On Eath in the parade scene going thru town. Historical place. Interesting interior downstairs. Wife and I met here. If you havent been, drop in at least once.
A must stop for me whenever I’m in Sarasota! Drinks are stiff. Bartenders are friendly and there are great bands on the weekends!
Every single time Im in town this is where I go! Downstairs they often have live music, upstairs they have karaoke (some nights) and pool. Absolutely love this place.
Such a cool place. You have to check out karaoke night!
A bit disappointed. Site shows open at 2, Open Now.....not. we drove here specifically for this place. Your website needs to be updated.**Edit** The website has been updated to reflect the correct time.. We went back and enjoyed the experience. Thanks.
I was charged $90 for two beers. I reported it as fraudulent charges with my bank and the better business bureau
I guess they have karaoke for certain individuals....some they refuse to let them participate and allow them to get beat up while the security guards DO NOTHING.THIS IS A SAD WORLD BUT TJIS WONT STOP HERE.....TRUST!
Love the bar and the atmosphere, although it could be better with friendlier staff especially the door guys. Seems like they are looking for trouble and try to intimidate, very rude.
Good music! DJ upstairs and live band downstairs! Teressa at the bar made our night!
One of the best venues in downtown sarasota. Expect great live music and a excelent selection of whisky, wine and craft beers.
Gross place. A lot of people told me the security guards are CREEPY, there’s UNDERAGE kids drinking, and the service is TERRIBLE and it’s true! Stay AWAY
Just had a couple of drinks.
Had so much fun here with my friends there was live band downstairs and club dance music upstairs
I was hanging out with a buddy of mine and he wasn’t allowed in because he had his foreign ID .. I’ve been here w several other tourist friends before and never had this happen.. very odd thing
This Club has awesome Reggae on Thursday nights starting at 10 PM.
Love stopping in for a drink, And Tessa is always a blast to hang with over a drink and have a good conversation!
The bartenders at Gators will steal your heart. Quality bar run by even better people. Its worth your time.
The Gator Club employees stole my wallet and ran up a bill on my debit card here . Avoid this place.
Was at Gator Club recently. Had to leave as it was full of racist drunks! Horrible experience. I would give zero stars if it was an option.
Its a Great Night Life Experience and Definitely a Great Multiracial Downtown Night Life Experience and should be taken into consideration by many other nightclubs nationwide 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Kicked out for no reason just because I looked drunk , literally just paid to get in also barley drunkStop supporting this place go somewhere else please…
Hard to beat a Main Street Saturday lunch. The empanadas and fish tacos from the Farmers Market and The Gator Clubs wonderful Bloody Marys.
Multiple areas with different types of music, usually a live band downstairs and dance music upstairs. Good Location.
This place was the worst place ever had some guy take my drink without asking if a finishing already and i paid for that afterthat he try to bright me the same drink but he guive me what he want to bright me a cheap drink.
I absolutely love this venue for live music and dancing. Johnny Diamond rocked the house last night!!
They have cherryoki on Wednesday night and I sang for the upstairs ( She Talks To Angels) all around great place!!!
A lot of fun, good karaoke Monday and Wednesday
They charged my card $50 for two drinks. Ive called repeatedly, but they never answer and voicemail box is full. This happened to a friend of mine there also. Stay away!
Great place to have a good time. Always a good selection of music and the upstairs is where it really gets going!
Jamie is absolutely wonderful and Jenny at the bar always greets you with a smile. Great Atmosphere
Historical significance, part of the movie Palmetto with Woody Harelson was made there and great nightlife entertainment.
$10 entry fee for a grossly over crowded underwhelming bar with expensive drinks and bad music? No thank you
The best live music choice downtown, period. Downstairs is live music and upstairs and DJ dance music
If you are looking for live rock music and a drink this is the place. Note: if you are looking for loud music then you are in luck. You will be screaming to talk after 10pm.
I know Imost of the people who work there including the owners it is a wonderful place to go and Rachel it was not a two story old house back in the day,it was a bordello
Good atmosphere. Good drink prices. Excellent live bands.
Always a fun place to end the night in Sarasota!!!! Such a fun atmosphere!
Fantastic dance environment, bouncer was cute and accommodating
Bartenders are rude not a very inviting atmosphere plenty of other choices much better on main
Bouncers make this location not worth the trouble. I witnessed Fat guys looking to throw customers out for no reason. Makes the whole town look bad. They looking for legal trouble
Not 18+ the online lists lied so don’t go by that
Wonderful atmosphere ! Great Spirits Selection ! Attentive and Friendly Staff ! A Must Stop When Downtown !
They don’t know the law and think they own the sidewalk, disrespectful employees.
From the options around town, Gator Club has something a little different to offer and thats why I keep coming back 👍🏼
I liked that there was an upstairs and downstairs. Upstairs was a DJ which is not for me, downstsirs was band which was awesome.
Excellent dive by day with live music some nights.
Very poor management!
Great place to hear live music & have drinks and a fun time.
Masud interior design cumilla Bangladesh location map
Terrible service absolute trash. Only girl. Waster if time. Police are ComeIng Waste of time. Pathetic
They will charge you for a drink they dont give
Cool feel friendly staff, drinks are too high to garnish 5 stars though.
Great historic nightlife. Live music downstairs. Hip hop do upstairs.
The music was on and popping but allowing people to smoke cigs is a bit outdated, not a fan.
Live music. Full of people. Great comfort!! 8 dollars a drink.
I was there once and it was really nice. Want to see upstairs soon.
Supposedly “inclusive” place, did not allow a tourist to enter with a sleeveless t-shirt…
Historical building with a neat vibe in the heart of SRQ. Sit upstairs by the window and people watch.
Love this historic venue. Great service, reasonable prices, magical vibe
First time there and the owner gave me free admission for life i love it
I love this place but why cant they update their website? Their latest tweets are from 2016...🤣😂🤣🤣
Dj kept us dancing, yummy drinks. Id go back!
If I could break this rating down into two floors down I would...2nd floor is poppin and the 1st floor is just kinda there
Great sounds with their free reggae night.
Amazing service, best place to go out.
Cool place. Poorly managed. Update* sent email as management requested. Still no response...
Thursday nights are fun👌
Could be a nice place, but was packed when we were there and understaffed for the number of people there.
If I could give them a no star review, I would.
Always a great time good music and crowd.
Great place for drinks with friends
Trash club. Spike their drinks with rubbing alcohol allegedly
Bartender extremely rude for absolutely no reason
Great location, cool decor, reasonable prices.
Great place for live music and drinks
Saw Twinkle Rock Soul Radio band. Sensational!!!
Cool little bar with upstairs lounge as well
Great bar great scotch very cool vibe
Favorite Dance place in Sarasota!
