We just stayed at the W over the weekend for a quick little getaway from our kids in Seattle. We were quite pleased with this little bar in our hotel. The tall gorgeous blonde waitress was striking and made us amazing drinks.
Atmosphere was fun. Service was terrible. Came in for a quick brunch at 11:30am on a Sunday. Ordered fairly quickly, received our drinks, and over an hour later our food still hadn’t arrived. The waitress said she would go check but never came back with an update. Another 15 minutes passed and our food arrives. We look at it and it looks like it has been sitting out for a good 20 minutes. The avocado on the avocado toast had turned brown and the cilantro looked like steamed spinach. The toast on my sandwich was rock hard and the fries cold. The plastic plate that one meal was served on was warped. The eggs started to crust over. It was pretty bad. The manager stopped by and asked us how the food was because he could tell we looked pretty disappointed. I told him it looked like it has been sitting out for 20 minutes and he said when he saw it was done it was brought up right away. He asked if we would like our food to be remade but warned us there was only one line cook so that it might be awhile. At that point we had already wasted so much time waiting around I asked for our tab (a round of drinks) so that we could leave. I’m not sure why he thought it was okay to put out food that was in that condition let alone lie about it not sitting out. I’ve worked in the service industry for years so I know what food looks like when it has been forgotten about. Anyways, attached is a picture of the very sad looking avocado toast because now all I can do is laugh about it.
My Wife and I love going here when we visit Arizona.... have yet to stay at the hotel but the host a day pool party pretty much everyday.... I believe its free to get in during the week days and if youre NOT a guest at the hotel its only$20 to get in on the weekend (Fri-Sun)... which honestly is not that bad considering you get a live dj as well..... drinks are pricey but its the W, its expected.
Food poisoning: Im almost sure my close friend got food poisoning here as we had exactly the same food and drink the entire night (I was DD) and the only difference was his drink, the gin martini with the olives, so we narrowed it down to that, especially the olives (yes, it is possible for olives to go bad. I didnt think so either until I looked it up, which caused more concern). We should have been suspicious when they said they didnt have any martini glasses and it took a long time for them to make the drink. It also came out in a small plastic cup which felt off.My friend was in town for a conference, and I didnt realize how bad it was until I met back up with him later the next day. Even as I was making the phone call to try to report this to a manager here, he was still vomiting. His symptoms were even worse earlier in the day causing him to have to leave the conference early on.I was able to reach someone in security on the hotel side, who then followed up with an email including management on the bar/lounge side (separate companies). They asked for details, copy of the receipt, etc. and I provided all that promptly. I expected prompt attention to be paid to this and for adjustments to be made at the very least. Sadly, I didnt even hear back from anyone on the bar/lounge side. I followed up multiple times over the course of multiple weeks to the point that I gave up, and it has now been over a month.I much prefer giving credit where it is due, but in this case I felt obligated to share this experience. It really did ruin my friends special visit from the east coast to hang with me here. I informed the staff as soon as I could in the hopes that this would prevent anyone from going through the same thing, and Im publishing this review for the same reason.
The W is solid hotel chain which caters to a certain type of peopleI have been to the daytime pool party here. Its fantastic! It is well-managed, organized, fun and safe. However, at night, its a different story! I was here a couple of years ago, and it was fun. However, now, there is dress code for entry. Guys cannot wear sandals or hats. Really? In this day and age, neither of those items are indicative that you are a low rent, dirt bag, or criminal. The door men also seemed to be running some sort of scam or operation to allow entry. They told us the bar was at capacity and refused us entry along with a few other groups. However, we had friends staying at the hotel. They had to come to the door and have a 5 minute discussion with these people to get us into the lounge...which was not even half full. Ridiculous.Hopefully, they update these policies and evaluate their staff. It is really a great hotel and venue without all the BS.
Whoa, now thats what I call top-notch hotel security! They really know their stuff, and they always have your back - especially that short and stocky guy , real 😎. Its great to feel safe and secure when youre away from home, and this hotel definitely delivers on that front.
The pool is the only good part. They are trying to rip you off and the staff hate customers. I would not go here other than the pool and girls there. The place is as overpriced as can be and the food looked miserable. They serve very small drinks. I would not recommend anything other than the pool, but they push you hard for everything else.
Friday night at the Cottontail Lounge was great! The atmosphere was enjoyable, bar service was attentive and drinks were delicious. We were looking forward to ending our trip with our last night in Arizona at the Cottontail Lounge on Saturday night. When we tried to enter Saturday evening, the door man opening the velvet rope stanchion informed us there is a no open shoe dress code for males and we would need to change shoes if we wanted to enter. As a guest of the W, it was an instant turn-off that we weren’t able to enjoy an amenity of the hotel we had enjoyed the night before. Could I have changed shoes? Yes. But in my opinion, the principle of the matter was we were trying to access the upstairs bar area that is centered around a SWIMMING POOL yet no open toed shoes were allowed? But we did see two men walking down the stairs wearing no shirts with drinks in their hand. It just seemed like a strange rule to enforce when the vibe of the entire lounge from the bumping music, scantily dressed wait staff and casual nature of the lounge warranted a “dress code” but only tailored to the shoes. We chose to stay in our room for the evening and not spend likely $150 +/- on drinks as we had done the night before. A drop in the bucket for the lounge on the whole but we will not be returning to the Cottontail when we are in Scottsdale.
Went to Cottontail after a wedding with a large group and had a great time! The place is HUGE so it was actually the perfect place to bring a large group of people which can be quite hard at most bars. There were tons of places to sit by the pool on little U-shaped couches, in general there were lots of spots to hang in groups all over both seated and standing or dance. There were all types of people there so I wouldn’t say it was specific to any age group or type of person. The music was good and it was just all around a fun vibe. It’s bumping. Definitely would go back!
I was here for a PFW party and it was ok. There werent that many people there and security was trash. We left the party to eat downstairs and security didnt tell us a thing after we said that we were coming back. As we try to re-enter thats when we were told that we had to pay a cover charge because we didnt have a wrist band. It would of been nice if you had of told us. The food was ok very overpriced. This W is probably the worse considering how much prettier the other W in different states are.
Really bad experience ...theyre pouring drinks in tiny plastic bathroom cups now. I ordered a whiskey neat and complained about my tiny cup and they said its the same as ordering a shot which is incorrect. A whiskey neat is supposed to be 2 ounces and a shot is 1.5 Oz. And the first time I was there, they lost my debit card. I think the bartenders there have alot more beauty than brains.
Attempted to have a couple of cocktails after our date night dinner and the gentleman checking identification in front of the W said “because we weren’t guest of the hotel we could not get access to the bar”. Would not recommend.
Our party started downstairs at the lobby bar of the W Hotel where there was a live band playing. Love the atmosphere very much upscale and comfortable. Upstairs was even more delightful with the lights, the music, the pool, the night sky Oh my! The ambiance was phenomenal. My only complaint is the drinks were quite watered down for the price. The bar staff were friendly and efficient.
Beautiful lounge! Plenty of seats and space. Grab drinks while you visit and wait. If the bar is closed just go upstairs to the W. There is a pool up there. 24hr valet parking.
Great ambiance and customer service! The staff is very personable and welcoming. The music they have during the week/weekends makes it that much better! Whether it is the awesome pool parties during the summer, or the lively night scene the rest of the year, this is the place to be.
Big Fan. The ambiance is nice and classy. Lots of places to mingle and the flow of people is great--meaning that you can walk anywhere and you will constantly have a different view of the venue. Place definitely added as a great place to stop by in Old Town. Definitely coming back!
Don’t come here. There are several better places in the neighborhood. Extremely pricey drinks served in cheap plastic glasses and drinks tasted bad. This place has no views. The only views you get are of the street from the pool area where they stop serving alcohol after 5pm. The place is meant for business travelers staying at the hotel looking to expense drinks on company’s dime.
Cool place but seating is limited 👎
My friends and I frequent the W probably too often (according to my bank account). But its such a great ambiance. We love being outside on the roof by the pool. Recently I went when they had a DJ that also plays the saxophone. Oh my gosh, he was soooo good! He had everyone dancing and enjoying the vibe.
Place is awesome. Best pool parties in town! Not to mention a great cocktail list, live music 4 nights a week and a super friendly staff. If you want great service and beautiful outdoor ambiance, have to check it out.
Please fix your google times. Took a trip down to have some drinks just to find out it is only open on weekends while google showed open on Sunday until 2am. Get it fixed please as to keep me from spending un
I love there newly renovated top floor. I received a private invite only for an event and this was the perfect setting for it. They had a bar and pool area with canopies as well. Lovely place job well done!😎
W Scottsdale is by far the best location to stay in the Scottsdale area. It has a great night life scene and is accommodating to an variety of guests. Great place to host bachelor parties, business meetings, happy hours, and make sure you dont miss out on the pool parties. Their staff is the best in town!
I find myself here every weekend and I must say this is by far the best bar in Old town Scottsdale. The pool parties in the spring are a great time and the drinks made by Nayra are always refreshing. I hosted my baby shower there last summer and Eva, their VIP host, made the experience so easy, I recommend her to everyone for parties. Check it out!
Was fortunate to stay there over 4th of July weekend for a bachelor party. Best one Ive been on, been to Vegas and Miami for bachelor parties before and I must say, WOW!!!! The pool parties were a little blurry but thats a good thing. The drinks are cold and the women are smokin, if you wanna party you dont even have to leave the hotel which is the best part.
Shade lounge has a great staff along with a Seriously a perfect place to host your next happy hour event! Next time you go in ask for a nice Manhattan, they have an excellent selection of bourbons as well as a ton of other liquors. I was amazed at the amount of scotch there is to choose from.
Shade lounge at W hotel Scottsdale has a little something for everyone. Whether you want to enjoy a delicious craft cocktail/martini or sip on a cold beer they have you covered! You also get to enjoy the beautiful scenery and ambiance. The staff is very pleasant too and gives phenomenal service. Definitely my favorite place to start and sometimes end the night!
Great location inside the W. Classy, sexy and fun! Amazing cocktails and their decor is on point. Great place for events and entertainment. Looking for a great place to go out in Scottsdale? This is the place!
Fun place. I ordered the same drink upstairs that I did downstairs and upstairs charged me $3 more. But lets face it... you arent there for the drinks anyway.
Beautiful renovations. The space upstairs looks great & plenty of great choices even if you dont reserve a table.
Good place to hang out but the speakers quality outside and the mediocre DJ were not good. Had 2 small sad execuse of speakers and a dj that put music from the 90s. Ill be back hoping for better.
Great crowd and fun atmosphere! The staff is very personable and friendly. The lighting and music are on point. 10/10 would recommend!
The bathing suit rule on weekends is very dumb, but outside of that it is a nice spot.
Great food with a very chic vibe. Sushi was amazing.
This place is Awesome, always has Great events going on like fashion shows and Yoga classes up on the WetDeck, not to mention they host some EPIC Pool Parties!!!
Awesome, experience. This is a must visit, soley for the party scene, especially for vacationers.Enjoy!
Very relaxing and all around good vibe lounge. I recommend going to this lounge in a large group.
Its a very beautiful place with alot of wonderful people working there I give it a big 5 stars
Drinks are ridiculously expensive. Not many people and music wasnt that great either. Id go somewhere else next time.
Beats, drinks, and a friendly staff will provide either your day or night with an amazing experience. Come see what our establishment has to offer :)
Awesome bar. Closed for renovations atm, but was awesome this summer and should be even better after its reopened.
My favorite W by far! Great vibe friendly staff and quick service. Will definitely be back for another stay!
Cozy!
Over priced. Everything is served on plastic and the music for being pretty empty was blasting
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Best pool parties in town!
