Massage Envy

Do not sign up for a membership with this establishment. There is no guarantee they will even be around to honor your monthly payments. This company closed their South Hill location with no notification, and no refunds for years of my payments. I have been a member of Massage Envy for years in Seattle, and then for almost 5 years at the South Hill location. After COVID it was very difficult to even make an appointment unless you stalked their calendar and made one weeks in advance. But I stuck it out because I had so many months of payments stacked up by that point. Well they up and closed the clinic. I called to have my membership cancelled. Apparently a verbal cancellation isn’t good enough. I had to complete a complicated Adobe form and return it to them. Good luck to the elderly or anyone unfamiliar with computers. Mind you they just CLOSED my clinic. After I emailed my written request to have my account closed they just kept charging me. I called and spoke to the manager Ana and let her know how frustrating the experience had been for me as a long time customer. She offered to end my membership for me. Ummmm. Thank you? I told her that I needed to be refunded for the charges they charged after I had requested verbally AND in writing for my membership to end. She laughed and said “Refund you?” After I re-explained why this needed to happen she agreed and said she would refund me. I later received an email saying that she was unable to refund me as my card had expired, and that she needed updated card information. I said no thank you. Seeing as they had been unresponsible with my card information in the past that they could just mail me a check. Ana emailed back saying they do not have the ability to mail me a check. I just spoke with her on the phone. I was forced to provide her with my card information to receive payment for funds they they owe me due to their mistake. She laughed at me throughout the entire conversation. Ana you are unbelievably smug and have no business providing any kind of customer service. Enjoy my THOUSANDS of dollars in un-used massages. Fellow citizens you have been warned. Try to have this 100% truthful review taken down and I will see you in small claims court and it will be my extreme pleasure. Mind you this all could have been avoided with a simple check in the mail. I made ZERO demands for refunds of back payments. I simply asked for a refund of what had been taken from my credit card after a verbal and written request to close my account.

I signed up for a years worth of massages. I made 3 massage appointments. The fourth I was notified the same day the therapist went home sick. That was the only time that month I could make the appointment. Next scheduled apt I was sick and called first thing in the morning to notify them. I was then told I would be charged 50%! No prior knowledge of this. Then, I asked to speak with management and Tasha said she would have someone call me. No one called me. I had my husband stop by the office, as I am still sick, to ask them to call me. Someone out of state called me back... then, I stated I am disappointed in the office and want a refund. The lady never gave me her name, told me they dont give refunds and then hung up the phone on me! What a crock! I want my money back!

I have been a member of Massage Envy both in Texas and here in Spokane Washington for about a year. Becoming a member really saves you money if you have a massage several times a month. I have found the therapist employed at Massage Envy to be a higher quality than just the average massage. I see Nicole for a stretch and massage. This week I saw Mikaela for a 90 minute massage. I am very pleased with the quality of massage I received. The knowledge they both presented of my history and the therapy I have received are exceptional. I would recommend Massage Envy.

Massage therapist Arial was very good. Location is not convenient but service is good and can get appointments within a week usually.

I have seen many good therapists at Massage Envy over the years. Most recently Jim and Brittany have been very helpful. But the person I really want to recognize in this review is your front desk staff member, Malia. It is not often in this day and age that I experience truly exceptional customer service — anywhere. Malia is consistently friendly and positive. She has shown herself to be an empathetic and supportive problem solver when there is ever anything amiss or confusing as to account issues. She has incredible follow through and is a skilled communicator. She goes the extra mile, jumping up from her seat to open doors for customers — even after I’ve told her that such isn’t necessary. I find myself looking forward to our brief interactions. I recognize that I have been guilty of engaging with service team members in ways that almost render them invisible — moving through my day with the internal checklist and not always taking the time to truly SEE the people that are helping me. Malia’s presence and full engagement in her job and with each client makes it impossible not to see her. I hope that she is equally seen and valued by those writing her paycheck and doing her performance reviews. This is an employee that you don’t want to lose!

Steven was awesome! He used just the right amount of pressure and worked out all my knots! He was very friendly but not super chatty, which I love. Allowed me to just relax and enjoy my “me time”. Will definitely go see him again!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this location and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations.First and foremost, I had an amazing experience with my therapist Brittany. She is truly a gifted masseuse who knows how to work out all of the knots and tension in my muscles. She was attentive, professional, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire session.In addition to the outstanding service provided by Brittany, I was also impressed by the overall cleanliness and calming atmosphere of the location. They are great with my difficult schedule, very understanding of changes. Jim and Stephen are both excellent with the deep tissue massage I need for my neck and back. Wasnt super comfortable with male therapists before seeing them, but now I am. Everyone there is very friendly and the facility is very clean and comfortable.

Jim gives the best massages. He finds all the spots that need work. I get headaches a lot and he has been able to relieve them every time. I have had a lot of massages all over the world and I would rate him in the top 10% of massage therapists!

Brittany was amazing at giving my massage. I went in not being able to move my back and hardly breathe to feeling a great deal of relief. I highly recommend her.

Malia at the front desk is friendly, professional and efficient. She does a great job booking my appointments, and checking me in and out. She has fantastic customer service skills.

Jim is great! Saw him regularly for about 9 months, and left feeling relaxed and much better each and every time! You should definitely make a stop in and see Jim ASAP!

Always love coming in. The staff are all awesome from the front desk to the estheticians and massage therapists. I joined the monthly membership I love it so much.

Brittany is a very knowledgeable therapist. She asks intuitive questions to help guide the treatment plan. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience that ensures a successful treatment. She is also very personable and easy to talk to when wanted.

Friends bought me a 60min massageIt took him 40 When I went into the room. It was 9:09 when I left the room it was 9:50 Anyway to the point it was supposed to be a one hour massage, rapid tension release with Aromatherapy treatment.

Best massage! James (Jim) has been my favorite therapist since starting massage envy! I’m so thankful for him, he has helped me a lot!

She was awesome! I just started Golfing and I came in with really tight muscles. She didnt complain about the extra work for her and I felt much betteral sfterwards! Conversation was fun and robust too! Shes a 5 star lady

This is by far the Best massage Envy I have been to! The front desk workers are so nice and knowledgeable. Brittany and Steven are my go to therapist’s! I have a lot of back issues and after coming in here a couple times a month I can walk again without pain! The membership is worth every penny! Don’t listen to the bad reviews! This place rocks!!!

The 60 minute massage was about 40 minutes. That included the add on hand exfoliation. I was back in my car before the hour was up.

I have been here twice. The first time was good but the second time made me never want to go back again. The second time I had a guy that I cannot remember his name but he was horrible. Ive never given a one star review for a massage in my life but this guy was borderline abusive in behavior. He was rude and continued to massage very aggressively hard even after I mentioned multiple times that he was hurting me. He literally laughed and told me that I requested deep pressure so I should be able to handle it???? It felt like he was honestly just being a bully. I have never left a massage crying until this one. Please screen your massage therapists. I go to many other places and I have never had someone act like this before. I truly hope he is gone but unfortunately I will NEVER go back or recommend North Spokane Massage Envy.

I called and made an appointment the same day and was pleased I could get in. The massage was great, the environment was fantastic, and as soon as I walked in I was excited to go back, HOWEVER, at the end I went to pay and of course they spoke of the membership. The membership, in order to get, can only be obtained with the waiving of the sign up fee if you apply for it at that moment, no other time. I hadnt had time to even consider it and felt pressured to take the option. Normally, Id kindly decline and go on my way, but the manager was pushy, came across as fake and slightly rude.When I asked the price Id be paying she replied with It would have been $118. That wasnt what I asked, at all. She then asked when she could schedule my next appointment, due to their non-member prices Id already decided I wouldnt be returning. When I went to leave she told me, See you in a few weeks! I felt that was -very- rude, who says that to someone unless theyve made an appointment?It ended my afternoon on a frustrated note. I LOVED the massage, and I even loved their membership package, but I did not like the managers pushiness and cheeky comments. I would suggest this place to anyone who plans on taking the membership, or who doesnt mind how the manager handles people who choose not to take it as an option. Who knows, maybe the manager will read this and change her tune!

They used to be much better when they first opened. Now they are hard to get booked with the therapist you like and they dont call ahead when you need to update info which takes time away from your session. On top of that the staff is arrogant and dont seem to care much anymore. Overall the prices have gone up and the service has gone down. Been a member for years and I think Im done with ME. Dont get me wrong there are some great therapists here but the overall management and is really lacking for the cost.

The massage experience is great. What is not great is the appalling lack of available appointments. I had my massagecanceled last week and it was going to be 8 weeks before I could get another one. In the meantime I am billed monthly for a service I cannot access.

Now I’m having a difficult time to get booked with the therapist I like and the evening appointment that works for me, especially in the summer. On top of that the staff dont seem to care much anymore. They just stop calling me to try to set up appointments that works for me. Been a member for years and I’m thinking of canceling my membership with ME. It’s been great when ME was able to accommodate the evening appointment time I needed and the therapist I like. Most of my appointments I make is right after I get off work.

Massage Envy has a beautiful peaceful atmosphere and skilled and competent therapists and specialists. Everyone is friendly and courteous, and they are open so early and so late that I can still get a massage no matter how hectic my schedule gets. Having a membership helps me make taking care of myself a regular occurrence, and I am feeling less pain and stress. Ive been a member for over a year, and they have worked with me about payments and frozen my account for me when times got tight. Thanks.

Service was fine, prices kept climbing. We decided to cancel our membership which weve had for over a year and they made us come in and sign paper work. They didnt cancel it, made us come in again to sign and still didnt cancel it. Long story short, had to talk with the manager 3 times over a month time frame before we were clear. Two extra $70 payments for a service we didnt want or use. Beware

I have struggled with a neck injury for 8 years now. I moved back to the area a year ago and one of the gals at the reception desk recommended Ryan for a deep tissue and especially with his specialty with neck. I have been regularly seeing him for almost a year, And I cant say enough good things! I have had so many improvements and so glad I found someone who can help manage my pain/discomfort. And not to mention the relaxing atmosphere and super friendly staff!👌

My massage therapist is Jim/James. He is professional and he understands anatomy of the body and he provides excellent therapy.

I actually signed up for a year. My contract was supposed to be finished in the middle of January. Back in November I gave the written notice that I was gonna cancel my membership at the end of my contract. The girl was very nice and told me that wouldnt be a problem but that I would be obligated to pay December and January. I had no problem with that because I believe in staying true to what a contract states. I told her I would come in after my final payment was made and redeem my sessions.No problem she said and maybe we can convince you to join another year. I wasnt gonna join again because my two hour massages were more like an hour and a half to the tune of $120 plus tip!January rolls around and I go to book my final session. The girl who answered turned me over to the very condescending owner who told me that my member ship had been terminated without possibility of renewal. I said fine by me, how do I get my $120 bucks back since youre not fulfilling your part of the deal?Like a robot she said the same thing.When I got on the phone with Visa, we called Massage Envy. This owner made up some ridiculous story about how since I didnt redeem my massages by the end of my contract that theyre not obligated to provide me service or a gift card. Thats their policy! Visa couldnt do anything and now Im out 120 bucks. Real classy. Go anywhere else other than Massage Envy!

Every massage therapist Ive had a session with has been great. Its super clean, professional, and I really the atmosphere. Only negative would be a little pressure on the up selling from time to time but otherwise Every thing is great.

I would give them a half star if possible. I had an appointment on 04/26/2022. I was refused service by them because of my medical issues. They violated the US SUPREME COURT ORDER. I strongly suggest that no one visit this establishment, since they refused to accommodate me. They will do the same to anyone.

Fantastic staff, relaxing atmosphere, and now they have FACIALS. The therapists and front desk are always very welcoming and knowledgeable. Theres such a wide variety of therapists and theyre open late enough I can always find what Im looking for.

Worst service I have received. Please look into taking your money somewhere else and do not sign a contract with them. There are so many other options than here. If you have issues you will not be able to get ahold of management as they are never available, and won’t return your phone call. Corporate will also not return calls or emails. I have been trying to get ahold of someone for almost two year and am now looking to get a lawyer involved.

Tried different massage therapist and was not able to get a true deep tissue massage. Unfortunately I signed up for a year membership. I wasted money on unused massage credits and was not able to let anyone else use the credits or redeem them as gift cards. Trying to cancel the membership after the year was up was ridiculous. I had repeated phone calls as only a manager who was often not available, could cancel a membership. When I finally connected with a manager I was told I had to sign a cancellation form and wait 10 days before I no longer would be charged. So heres to another month of wasted money. DO NOT waste your time or money on this business!

Echoing what a previous reviewer said: They start with low dollar promotions, lots of direct mail coupons. I scheduled an appointment, had a great massage. I get weary of the heavy push for add on services: hot rocks, oils, aroma therapy on and on but I know this is how businesses work, its annoying but forgivable. They push you hard into a do-or-die membership. I agreed as long as I would get the great hands that treated me that day. Wrong; that girl immediately quit. So they reschedule you with Newbie. Shes not good, especially with the pushing of extra services, shes nervous, and not skilled at the table. You request someone else next time, the charges on your CC start piling up because they keep calling and cancelling your appointment for various reasons. Finally you complain and get another treatment with the one other good masseuse. I scheduled appointments out, they call and cancel because she quit too. Finally fraud on my CC caused it to be replaced and Massage Envy called to get it reestablished in their system. I said I have a pile of paid for massages already, freeze my account until I can come in and use them, they said they cannot do that, they need to have a new CC on file before they can schedule me FOR SERVICES I ALREADY PAID FOR! I went in to talk to them, the girls were cowering behind the counter when I questioned this policy (not abusively, just directly) you can tell they get this often. I know the drill: This is a corporate piracy operation and they use people up. You can keep what you owe me Massege Envy. You should know better in the age of Social Media that this abuse will not be allowed to continue.

I joined in Texas, and transferred my membership to Spokane. I love Massage Envy. I am a RN and I have always had knowledgeable therapists work on me. I respect the professionals employed by this organization. The staff is pleasant, helpful and extremely courteous. I endorse and recommend Massage Envy to anyone who is looking for quality massage therapy.

Honestly, the environment was awesome, and the massage was great. But the relaxation I felt after my appt was quickly replaced with anxiety, tension, and irritation. Seriously, the staff was nice EXCEPT for the manager who tried to shove a membership down my throat. I told her that I didnt want to add any more monthly bills and fees, considering I was so close to being debt-free (my goal before getting pregnant). She replies with sarcasm, oh, that must be nice. But this is for massages, its not the same thing, completely ignoring the fact that I politely declined. She continued to push until I literally grabbed my husband and starting storming out. She called after me, you forgot to book your next appt!. I wanted to give her the finger, but the better part of me held back. Because of HER, I wont be back.

I, being a new mother, and also a mother of 2 children went in to get a massage that was well needed! I dont have child care meaning I had to go during my work day. I had to take off work to go get the massage, for them to turn me away because I had a 2 month old baby with me. I couldnt believe what I was hearing and I am very disappointed that not only could they help a brand new mother, whos baby was sleeping quietly mind you, but you sent me away because of a liability, are you kidding me. whats the baby going to do? How is a two month old a liability? Now that I dont get an hour to relax I am taking my time to write a comment to make sure all the other mothers out there dont make the same mistake I did.

I signed up for a 6mth membership after being suckered into the $39.00 special. Everything started out ok. The therapist Trevor was decent but smelled of cigarette smoke. After the initial massage, I booked another massage a month at a time per the contract. Three months into the contract, I was cancelled on multiple times. The first time, I showed up for my massage only to be told that the therapist called in and they didnt have anyone else available but I could reschedule. The second time, I was walking out of my house to go to the appointment when Mike called to cancel. The third time (the one that threw me over the edge) was May 10th. I had booked a two hour massage for Mothers Day and was again walking out of the house to go when I got yet another call from Mike cancelling my appointment. I told Mike that I was cancelling my membership and he said that he would gladly take care of it for me. Fast forward to July and I get a call from Emily (who refuses to give her last name or an employee id number). She states that she put a massage on my account and would like to schedule it for me. I explained that my membership was cancelled back in May and I would like to speak with a manager. Emily says ok, that she will have someone call me. Another two weeks later and I get a call from Brittany. Brittany states the same thing of there is a massage on my account and she would like to schedule it for me. I explain to Brittany that I cancelled my membership and I would never come back to the business due to the poor customer service. I ask again to speak with a manager. Brittany continues to call through July and August. I told her specifically that Massage Envy DID NOT have authorization to debit my bank account for a membership as services were not being provided. She stated that she could freeze my account. I told her no because there was no account to freeze. I again asked to speak to a manager. The next phone call from Brittany had her threatening me with collections. I told her I wanted to speak with the collections manager and all of a sudden she was the collections manager. I asked for the name and number of the owner Sean Huntsman. I was told that he is a very busy man and I couldnt contact him. I asked for him to contact me. Brittany then emailed me on 8/25/2014 the freeze account form to which I email replied that I wouldnt be filling it out and I wanted to speak to the owner Sean Huntsman. On 8/26/14 I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. In September it was brought to my attention that Massage Envy had debited my bank account in July, August, and September for a membership that wasnt valid and without my authorization. I went to my bank and did a fraud dispute to get my money back. I also called the BBB to check on the status of my complaint. They said that Massage Envy wasnt responding at all. I asked about other complaints against the business. Apparently this isnt the first time they have debited peoples bank accounts without permission. Since March of 2013 Massage Envy has had 4 complaints. One even of them tricking a blind woman into signing a contract. STAY AWAY from this place. They have horrible business ethics and are very shady. I of course havent heard anything further from them since they have my money. Now the name of the game is not responding. Shame on the owner and the employees. It is very apparent that they are taught to scam people and to be dishonest.

My massage was great with Meachla. I dont think I spelled her name right. Her pressure was perfect during my massage.

Signed up for a membership last year have been trying to cancel for months and there’s always an excuse of why that can’t happen. Went in today and at first the lady at the counter was telling me that I’m gonna have to wait until January 2, 2020. My mom and I walked out and then we decided to go back in and get the managers name and number, when we walked in the doors you could hear the the lady we spoke to at the counter talking bad about and impersonating my mother. All in all I would not recommend signing up for a membership what so ever unless you want to spend lots of time and money and deal with poor customer service.

Do Not agree to a 1yr Contract they are so rude and inconsistent. They dont call to make sure that you have that months dues on the card you provide. They ran my card 11 times till the point of locking my card. The Managers dont help you they just say that you cant cancel your account and that it will go into Collections if you do not pay! so done with this company.!

I had the absolute worse experience at Massage Envy this past week. I signed up to do the $39 introductory 1 hour massage. My massage therapist was awesome, but the massage was only 50min...which was kind of a rip off. THEN, when i tried to pay and leave they wouldnt let me go without signing up for a years long membership. Carolyn (the owner) was EXTREMELY manipulative and fake and when I asked her if i could cancelled the membership anytime she said of course...I then left, and read the contract of the membership in my car...SHE SLIPPED IN AN EXTRA PART OF THE CONTRACT IN THE BACK THAT SAID IT COULDNT BE CANCELLED. I could only cancel it in the event of death or a doctors note. WTF?! I went right back in and gave that crappy owner a piece of my mind...luckily i caught it soon enough. Cancelled my credit card and I will NEVER step foot in that place again.

I went here and got a massage and facial in September and i absolutely LOVE this company, both services were amazing! the staff was great and very accommodating! Ive been back on regular basis since then.

I have been a member of message envy for over 10 years. I have lived On the East coast and west and have had messages all over the country. It is one thing I love about Message Envy. There is something wrong with this location. Management is poorly done, the customer service is wanting, both my wife and I have had unpleasant experiences and we have only live here a few months. The therapist are also the most pushy for add-ons. One of the best therapist is Britany, get her quick cause she is so popular she is booked out for months. 5 stars for her. I gave 2 stars because I didnt hate it but disliked it. If you can withstand the management then go for it, I can only put up for somethings for so long before I call it quits. May be the future Coeur DAlane location will be better.

Went there for a couples massage. The massage therapist that did my boyfriends made it very clear that the a massage therapist that was doing mine Was new and kept making him look stupid in front of us. Also they ran out of lotion in had no oils so halfway through the massage I got a dry massage on bare skin was not great.

They steal your money with memberships and if you say you don’t want to pay them anymore because of no availability on their schedule for months, they take all the money you’ve paid them to build up credits and absorb it and tell you to go on your way. This is stealing from people and not delivering on their end of a membership agreement. Illegal activity. I plan on suing them for failure to abide by the contract.

This place is ridiculous.....I have like 20+ credits that I can not use them. I make appointments months in advance (because thats all you can get) by the time the appointment arrives they call and cancel. This has happened at least 8 times. I wish I could get the last two years of monthly dues back!

Awful company. They dont tell you that you have to be a member for a year before you can cancel, and the whole cancelation process is ridiculous. I will never reccomend anyone to this place. I wish I never even signed up honestly

Horrible service and refused to give me my massage after they had me get undressed because I am pregnant! Wouldnt even give me my money back!! Dont go here, not recommended at all.

They are currently out 2 months but they continue to take your dues out contacting attorney general office to cancel membership good massagers here but very bad service i will never return here again

Wow. I was going to book a massage here, but the prices are outrageous. $95 for a 60 min and $143 for a 90 min? Not going to happen. Ever.
