I recently had the pleasure of visiting Upscale Restaurant & Lounge, an exceptional restaurant, lounge, and nightclub, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the stylish ambiance and elegant decor. The mature crowd was dressed to impress, adding to the sophisticated atmosphere.Our waitress was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was exceptional, with a wide variety of delicious dishes that were beautifully presented. The bartenders crafted amazing cocktails that perfectly complemented our meals.The DJ kept the energy high with a fantastic mix of music that had everyone on the dance floor. It was the perfect place to dance and have fun with friends. Security was tight, making us feel safe throughout the night, which was much appreciated.Overall, Upscale Restaurant & Lounge is a cool spot to enjoy great food, dance, and socialize in a chic and secure environment. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again soon!

It is a decent collection of age groups who have different perspectives on enjoying life!Everyone has his or her own unique opinion about the club, so I am grateful for the club being open Thursday through Saturday!Nothing is perfect, but it is better than most!

Called first to check on dress code. A friend came in from out of town. I Specifically asked about dress code/attire. I was told no t-shirts, sneakers, or sports wear. We get there and apparently the same person that told me instructed the security to not let us in. I had on a $160 Timberland SHOES, not boots, SHOES. Great business model. Lol

I come here to have good wholesome fun. Friendly crowd and nice music. Whoever is in the kitchen needs a RAISE! The food be on point! 🔥🔥🔥 I just know those cooks are from the south. I may go back just to pick up food.

I recently relocated to the Virgina Beach area looking for a black own business to show support and listen to good music with mature adults. Well got there paid 150& for VIP section was escorted to section by Pat 1 hour late different waitress requested we move due to the section we got seated in was reserve. Requested a refund and left. A waitress also never came to our section the entire hour to see if we wanted to order anything. Mmmm that’s how y’all treat people who are new to Virgina beach. We must do better and communicate’

This place is the ghetto! Dont let the name fool you. Avoid Saturday nights. Theres a lot of price gouging going on. The only thing they do right is wings and thats all I usually go there for. I showed up on Saturday night around 11-1130pm for wings. Club is open until 2am mind you, I wasnt trying to get into the club. I just wanted to order wings to go. I would have stood outside, I didnt care. I asked if i could just order wings. Bald headed guy at the door tells me they have parties and I have to pay $20 to get in. To order some wings and be on my way?! What do parties have to do with me? Im a paying customer as well. Absolutely not! Swiftly turned around and went elsewhere.

I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! THE OWNER IS ABSOLUTELY DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE. he attitude WAS DISGUSTING. I ordered food and waited over an hour for food and tried to confront the owner about it politely. I didnt want a refund I just wanted him to check the order. Also the waiter brought out cold food and didnt bring out the other half of the order. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwanted as a woman being in his establishment. PLEASE EAT BEFORE YOU COME HERE. but as for me, I will NEVER STOP FOOT INTO THIS BUILDING AGAIN. They basically took my money and I NEVER RECEIVED MY ORDER. The owner should be ASHAMED of himself! GOD gave him a great business to flourish and still going strong after covid which most black owned businesses closed. I know, for sure, if he talked down on me like this, he probably is extremely disrespectful to his staff. Please note: the waitress was very polite and the lady at the front entrance had beautiful energy. You do NOT TREAT YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS like dirt. He Needs a reality check which GOD will give him.i will be calling the BBB

Great place to get out and have a good time. I met a friend out at the last minute Saturday and I had a good time. I havent been since Covid and they now charge $20 on Saturday nights which I refuse to pay to go to any club and pay when so many places has no cover charge. (A friend let me use their VIP card) lol Great music R&B and hiphop. 30+

I went here on a Saturday night, and paid a $20 cover charge just to enter. I sat at a table and tried to wave down at least three different waitresses who passed by the area several times. After 45 minutes, I was finally able to wave one down, however, she said shell be right over. She never came, but she passed by several more times, never looking back my way. 15 minutes later, I had to leave my table to walk through the lounge to find a waitress. I ordered chicken wings, fries, and asked for a cup of water since I do not drink alcohol. They charged me $4 for a 16oz of water, just to have with my meal. I requested to speak to a lady manager and asked for a free cup of water with my $15 meal. She said the owner does not allow them to give out cups of water, not even with a purchased meal. Patrons have to purchase the bottles of water in addition to their food orders. This is a bad look for a black owned business that is money gouging. I would not recommend this business to anyone!

Came to celebrate my uncles birthday. Arrived with 2 other people. We were instructed to let them know we were in the VIP section upon entering. But the guy at the door was rude and apparently a lil money hungry. He proceeded to tell us that only one person in my group did what they were supposed to do. Meanwhile we could barely get a word out because he was to busy trying to collect $20. I don’t recommend this establishment for people under 60.

Just celebrated my wife and daughter birthday the 16th. Thanks to Nelda for seating us in the VIP section I requested. We had a wonderful time. Will definitely reserve VIP for future celebrations.

From my understanding Thursday night is ladies night. Their website advertised their hours are 9 pm to 2 am. Someone needs to update the website for the correct hours of operation. Dj announces last call for alcohol at 12 this lounge truly closes at 1 am not 2 am. False advertisement 1st red flag. When u try to call the establishment no ones never answers the phone, so if u have a question regarding vip or etc good luck on that. My last visit was Thursday November 9, 2023. The Service was horrible the waitresses will disappear for over a hour, I had a party of 5 people in Vip section, we were forced to walk to the bar and wait a ridiculously long time to order a drinks and food 2nd red flag. 3rd red flag, I know its a 30 and up crowd, everyone in my party was 40 and up , but the DJ that Thursday night kept playing rocking chair music all night, I had to keep walking around the establishment to stay awake and not fall asleep. If it was not for the fact I was partying for a good Friend birthday party, I would have left after the 1st 30 minutes of being in their establishment.Does the music really have to be that damn slow. The members of my party felt like we walk into a retirement home, Sorry to say this place needs to be revamp, please train your waitresses on how to properly server customers, if a customer pays for vip section we should not have to go to the bar for anything relate to drinks and food, thats the whole purpose for reserving VIP. Please have your Dj speed the music up , Im not saying play this new 2023 drill music, but some 90s hip-hop music would be appropriate for a 30 and up crowd. This is the reason I gave 2-Stars as a review, the food was cooked properly 3-stars on the food, drinks were ok. Astomshere 2-stars seen alot people from old jobs and previous organizations but the music was putting me to sleep 💤 honest to God. Far as the service zero 0 Stars the line to enter the establishment was moving at a good rate , but the service was Chaotic. It was a headache to order food and drinks.. I rather stay than pay to listen to sleepy rocking chair. Whoever the manager and owner is just know yall can do much better smh.

This antiquated establishment is lost in the past. There dress code is for grandparents only. You can wear sneakers but not boots if you’re a man. Everyone is above 70 and they only want an elderly crowd. If you are over 70, this is your spot. If you don’t want to party with your grandparents, you will hate it. It’s all Steve Harvey suits lol. The owner is old and grumpy and wants young women to party with his old friends. The service is subpar and the decor is whole in the wall worthy. Besides DJ Jack of Spades, the music is trash and outdated. Never again! Don’t go here if you’re not someone’s great grandparent.

This used to be my absolute favorite place to go on a Saturday night. Ive been countless times with friends and family and Ive always had an amazing time... until last night. Its been about 6 months since the last time we came, and its changed drastically. First off, they charged $20 at the door. Between my partner and I, thats $40. We pay, go inside, and the ENTIRE venue was reserved for several different parties. Usually There might be 1 or 2 parties going on, but theres always somewhere to sit. Last night, there were well over 75 people standing with nowhere to sit.... in the entire club. All tables were reserved. Unfortunately, that meant that none of us could order food since we had nowhere to take it. At one point, my wife and I thought we had found a table. A waitress stormed over and told us it was also reserved and that there shouldve been a sign on the table letting us know. I apologized and asked where we could sit that wasnt reserved and she replied Wherever you find a table. 😒 After that, we walked 3 laps around the place and settled on huddling in a dark corner with 20+ other people. We ended up paying $40 to walk around for 20 minutes! We left after that...Upon reading other reviews, Ive seen someone mention that theyre charging for tables now. Not sure how true that is... This place has truly changed. It used to be a great place with great vibes and great music. Im not sure well ever return or bring family. 🥺

I read the service was terrible but I didn’t know it was that bad I was sitting at a table alone for over 20 mins and not one waitress approached me damn shame I ended up leaving hungry and disappointed

Visited this establishment on March 11th following a weekend at the MEACC Classic. Atmosphere was great, no young kids no sneakers ,but very casual but classy dress code. Security was ever visible and the food was awesome. Great place to have a great time and enjoy your self! Safe environment

Not sure whats going on with this place, Resteraunt and Lounge?. It use to be the spot. But lately they raised the price to $20 per person yet they reserve every table out where there is no where to sit and enjoy dinner and drinks. So much for trying to enjoy an evening out when you gotta stand in the corner or against the wall with 50 other patrons staring at a bunch empty tables with reserve signs on them. Really Upscales what the heck is really going on?

The worse club Ive ever been too. Bought a section and bottle and was told to leave right after that. Terrible club the staff was extremely rude they took our money and refused to give it back. I plan on pursuing litigation against this establishment. They had no valid reason to tell us to leave. On top of that the club was 55 and up club. I wouldnt recommend at all.

This is fanatic adult environment. Music always good. If you love to dance and have a adult beverage and be surrounded by mature adults you will love this place. Plus if you like chicken wings they serve the best fried wings and fries

It was truly an awesome experience at upscale . The online reservations, the set up for my party was outstanding. I love my tables reserved my name on them. The food was delicious and in place when i arrived. The owner was available for assistance. My waitress was also good. Shout out to Dj Andre for acknowledging my birthday throughout the night. My party had a ball at upscale. Thanks so much.

This club is 50s and up so if your trying to dance this is not the spot. Food is microwaved. The drinks are expensive and the staff sucks. Choose anywhere else!!!!

Awesome Awesome over 30 spot. Great mix of ages and music. Very laid back atmosphere. Drink prices are in scale with Bars in ATL but buying the bottle is cheaper. Bring a crowd and buy the bottle. Thank me later.

Nice older crowd so not so much drama. Old-school jams are nice. Wings are humongous! Drinks after happy hour kinda pricey! $10 bucks for a Jack n coke last time I went. Worth a visit though....Saw in other post they are charging for tables now.... That is a deal breaker for me. This aint Vegas..... It was 3 years ago last time I went so my review is old....

My husband and I went to Upscale on Saturday June 19, 2021. It was $15 each which was not the problem. We went in ordered a drink at the bar and sat at a table. The music was great older crowd and that’s what we like. After 15 minutes when my drink was empty not 1 waitress came to our table to see if we needed another drink. We sat there for 40 minutes and no one came to ask us about a drink. The waitress went to other tables except ours. To make things even worse we were from out of town and I was disappointed. I think they need to be retrained because the the waitress are making them look bad.

Went to a birthday party here, they gave a decent amount of food and refilled the containers to make sure that it didnt run low. The waitresses were attentive and accessible.They cater to a mature crowd, the DJ plays 90s & early 2000s music, the dance floor stays full and theres no drama or ruckus. If you like to go out and dance by yourself, with your man or with your girls this is a nice spot.

First time at Upscale traveling from out of town and I must admit it was a wonderful experience! The setting as very comfortable and the band was off the chain! Friendly waitresses. The crowd was great! Love the fact that there is no cover charge until 10p which means the more settle crowd can enjoy the early time! I will be coming back this way!

This place takes the term Grown & Sexy to a while other level! My family and I had a blast this past weekend. We visited during the Caribbean Festival as well as for my sisters 40th bday celebration. Mrs. Nelda and her staff were awesome. They made sure that we enjoyed ourselves. From the ambience,to the the music,all the way down to the food. Everything was spectacular. My sister was all smiles. The security guard and the lady at the front (I dont know their names) were very welcoming also. We will definitely be visiting this place when we come back to the area. If you are looking for a laid back environment with good music and great food,then this is the place for you!

I once Frequently patronize Upscale on Friday & Saturday nights. I Loved loved loved to stay on the dance floor (late 90s-early 2000s).I was so proud to see... 20 years later it is STILL a Beautiful Clean Classy establishment with a great atmosphere... still serving Good Food and playing Great Music! Visited from out of town and Ubered to enjoy our evening. Checked website prior to, to ascertain the Dress code, which must be hidden from plain view. Nothing states what acceptable clothing and footwear are to enter. Upon entry, the RentaGuard at the door, Al Robinson, greeted us very rudely in tone and was confrontational in his demeanor; He clearly missed his nap. Even after attempting to explain our point of view, he made our encounter hostile. While waiting on our Uber to leve, we observed men with gum bottom shoes entering without issue. So what is the dress code really?

SMH Went here for the last 6 weeks andupon arrival $10.00door fee. Looked around and all tables were reserved,asked about seating the waitress replied ,theres a $25.00 fee to sit at a table even the tiny glass table at the entrance. This is not good for an older crowd. Then we couldnt order food due to standing and ordered $80.00 in drinks with no seat and left the club to go somewhere else to eat again this is no place for older people especially if you dont like standing for hours in heels and standing up to eat if you decide to order food .This place use to operate better than this dont know why you cant sit for free until 11:30 WHY.

The first time me coming here after cov 19, The guy at the door was very rude. Then the bartender Boss Lady was rude and overcharged me for two drinks. The DJ must have been drunk because all his songs that he was playing with skipping. Bathrooms were just nasty and to me it was not worth no $15 to get in. I will not be coming to this place ever again.

Went to the establishment during a getaway to Virginia Beach for our anniversary. Fridays were so hyped up and there was about 20 people there. The DJ absolutely sucked. No one was dancing and he was all over the place with his line up(definitely not DJ Raaj P) The bar tender was clueless of how to make mixed drinks. The club name is such an over statement. Had some old guy trying to hold up the pool table for $1.50. I could understnd if this was a pool hall where the table rules apply...but at a night club?...he must have been a local lol. Definitely dont suggest this place for a night out.

This is my first time here and the music has been a drag I’m giving it a 3 star because at least the drinks are on point. I was told this was a jumping spot, this is a club for 60 and older.

Worst service ever! No one came to our table to take our order, we had to get up to go and place it ourselves as well as get our own drinks. While watching other tables being serviced. We asked a waitress for water and never got it. When I asked to speak with a manager, I watched the waiter go and tell the management and no one ever bothered to come and acknowledge our issues. So we left, never will go back again.

The worst service ever had payed 30 dollars for me and my sister and the drinks were high and payed for me food in advance and took over two hours to come 3 servers walked passed us and had to get a friend whose father was celebrating his birthday to get a server attention not going back for a few more years if its still around

At least twice that ive been there Ive had issues at the front door. Im partially disabled and keep my medication in a daily medicine holder. I also use a cane and braces for my knees. One time here I was told i needed each medicine bottle the next time I came in. This most recent time I came in my support shoes and with visible cane and knee braces and was given a disgusted look by the doorman and told he guessed he would let me in since he sees my cane but tennis shoes arent allowed. I offered to show him my disabilitycard since it was such a big deal, but he told me to go in like he was making such a HUGE allowance for me. So thank you front desk for making me feel lesser for being a partially disabled veteran. I wouldnt even step foot in there except my family members always want to celebrate bdays there. Since I wasnt dressed with my backside hanging out on 4 inch heels I am not an inportant customer in the eyes of the front door man. They have no problem letting in woman wearing nothing but a tshirt that shows their panties if they lift an arm. Just dont wear shoes made for support. And bring every last medicine bottle with you in your purse. Priorities right?

She had a straight attitude with my sister then had the audacity to threaten somebody with security when it was the server who messed up?! To Nakkita: YOU need to check yourself especially when you ARE the bartender only, and there to please the CUSTOMER #1. Remember you are at work #2 Watch your mouth or expect issues all the way around the board. If I wasnt a business owner nor with my mother and sister for Happy Hour after WORK!!; things wouldnt have went as smooth as it did, and as a Independent Women, dont get it twisted. PLEASE. Do Not. Be mindful of your manners and words, youre at work sweetie. Keep it that way. Sooo remember: Treat others how you would want to be treated. Especially when family is in involved, knowing 9/10 you would feel the same/ maybe more. Since it being our first time ever walking into Upscales and seeing mostly people Over 40😕Ill just take it as you had a bad day and you WILL be BETTER and more Lady like next time your server messes up an order and you forget how to count.😊 Thank you.
