I have been coming here for two years and don’t agree with all the negative reviews. Many seem to focus on price but they are transparent up front about price. I am willing to pay a bit more for it being spacious and relaxing. I never feel they are rushing through and you get a really long good massage with a pedicure. Also it doesn’t have that toxic smell from a place that does a lot of acrylics. I prefer no polish on my hands and they do a very good job of a natural buff which some salons balk at. Plenty of other places I could go but prefer Allure.
The gel manicure chipped within 3 hours of getting it. When I called to see about getting it repaired they declined repairing or redoing it and would not offer a full refund. Do go here overall experience felt rushed and uncomfortable.
The man who did my nails glared at me the entire time, and he screamed repeatedly at the other workers. He didn’t get all of the sns off of my nails even after I pointed out that there was polish still on them. I went here out of convenience, but after this experience I will go out of my way to not go back.
$45 to remove powder dip - no additional color added. Nails are now super thin and in pain
I started coming here for my (M) haircut when Try moved. He’s the best around. Knows his techniques and extremely fair price. My go to guy for the last 3 years and I recommend him any day.
I would give Zero star to this manicure salon. Don’t go there they do zero effort to satisfy the customer. Very bad job. Chinese guys working there are very unpleasant, very unfriendly and racist. Rude staff and bad job and high price. Would not recommend at all
A very bad hair washing experience! Just washing my hair cost me $60! Washing and drying hair are charged separately. The hair washing service in the store was very unclean. My hair was washed in ten minutes. The clerk just put the shampoo on my hair, rubbed it a few times and rinsed it off. The price is outrageous and the experience is very poor!
I have been here probably 40 times in the last 5 years. Every single time it’s been a disappointing experience. They are one of the most expensive salons in dc, take the longest amount of time to complete a service, often forget a massage, and consistently provide the worst service. Today i went in trying to just get a layer of gel polish over my manicure that had gone yellow after two weeks. They charged for an entire gel manicure (no massage and no nail care) and my gel nails chipped after three hours and my fingers are also bleeding from the tool they use. My eye brows were also unevenly waxed today. It kind of looks like the left one is questioning everything with the curve they created. This place is the only nail salon in the neighborhood so I have given them chance after chance. But never again.
Not sure what theyre like for regular manicures, but I dont recommend them for acrylics. They cut me so much when they worked on my cuticles and they were slightly crooked. When I went back to get them take off the guy who put them on took off the gel polish and then used an acrylic to pop the other acrylics attached to my nails off. No acetone or anything. I have dried blood behind my nails and theres still glue on some of them. I went home and soaked them in my own nail polish remover.
I took my daughter here for a back-to-school cut and highlights. She is very particular about her hair and had a clear vision of what she wanted. The stylist asked a lot of questions and got it just exactly right!. In the end her hair is exactly what she wanted. She is walking around feeling like a million bucks!
Ive had blow outs and even a haircut by Fifi. Always wonderful. Today she did my color - and she did a terrific job! The owners are very friendly. Ive never had tried Allures nail services - but couldnt be more pleased with this salon.
Acrylic fill and pedicure today. I left completely satisfied with both the employees and their skill level. A little pricy but worth it.
I should really read reviews prior going somewhere. How badly can a simple blowout go? If you want to know, check this place. They charge as much as any other “well located” hair salon. I asked for a very short trim of my hair too, but it was literally chopped, worse asymmetric basic cut of my life. To my comment she blamed how dry my hair was and no attempt of even saying she can try to fix it so I said I will fix it at home.. I also felt towards the end the whole thing got worse because someone else wanted her services, the comb literally started to fly . She just went faster and faster. Didn’t even give me the chance of saying I don’t want oil and spray, everything was so fast. Horrible experience . I know that if you go cheap it can cost you more as you will have to fix it somewhere, but this is NOT cheap. They should simply not offer certain services. I wish I had a full refund of at least the hair cut.
Very unpleasant experience compared to when the salon first open. Customer service was horrible!!
Very over priced compared to other salons that offer the same services. I came to fix a broken toenail from a pedicure I got from them a little overwhelmed a week ago (I got dip for my nails and deluxe pedicure with gel services, totaling $200). I brought my 10 year old daughter and her 10 year old friend for basic kid pedicures ($30 for kids age 10 and under, according to their printed menu). Half way through, the manager (or owner) said their feet were like adults and didn’t believe that the girls were 10, and wanted to charge me $40 instead. The basic kid pedicure was basically a polish change, very minimal effort. Also, they were not polite about it. I just hope that this experience had nothing to do with the fact that these were girls a of color. Very disappointing.
Wonderful experience. Best manicure and removal of gel polish. Their gentle tools for removal keep nails and cuticle healthy. No scarring. Also kids mani/pedi were the best
Have been going here a while, but Im moving on. The last manicure was the worst Ive ever had. Left with my cuticles bleeding and nails cut on an angle, each one shorter on one side than the other. It was a dip manicure, which usually last a month, but this time it was chipping and peeling within days. They also are just not as friendly as they once were.
Scam. Way overcharged. Got what was supposed to be a $25 basic manicure, but was instead charged $45 and I didn’t even get polish, which comes with the basic manicure because I was told it would be extra money. He charged me $45 just to remove my 3 acrylic nails. Literally so rude and so terrible.
Not bad, but not great. The prices and atmosphere are spa-like, but the male service provider is more like what youd find at the cheap salons on every corner. The woman might be better: she had the only customer when I arrived, my guy answered the phone (yes, while doing my pedicure) and setup several appointments for her and she had people waiting for her when I left.
I was really iffy about going here after reading wishy washy reviews but decided to give it a try today. I stopped in and said Id like to come back in an hour, so technically I made an appointment. I returned after some errands and they were ready for me as soon as I picked out my color. I did a basic pedicure with Anna to see what their services are like and had a great experience. She asked me my preferences as we went along and did a beautiful job overall. Ill be returning to Anna for upgraded future pedicures.
Do not go here, they will charge you way too much money and do a terrible job and the service is the worst I have ever seen! I went in to get a very basic nail design and called ahead to make an appointment with the design tech, when I got there and showed them a picture they said they could do it but insisted I had to get a whole set of acrylics because my nails werent long enough for the design so I did and an hour and a half later when the entire acrylics were done it turns out they could not do the design and insisted I had to pay an insane amount even though all i wanted was a basic manicure with little hearts!! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND INSANE PRICES
I had a gel manicure and regular pedicure done in the evening the night before a flight for my friends wedding across the country. Nick who did them seemed to struggle and then he knocked a fan on to my toe nails while doing my manicure. I asked him to check my nails he said stated they were fine. When I arrived home at 8:01 pm and noticed that both my feet were very smudged and air bubbles in my gel manicure I called to see if I could get them fixed the answering machine picked up. In between flights the next day I called to explain what happened and they said come in to get it fixed I explained I’d be away for a week the women who claimed to be the manager stated no problem come back when you return we will fix it. To late for the wedding but fine. Reasonable. Flash forward to the day after I returned when I arrived at the salon the man who also claimed to be the manager stated it was grow out and wouldn’t fix it. I was not asking for the grow out to be fixed just the smudges poor business. Disrespectful and people on different pages. I strongly do not recommend this place as they are very untrustworthy and simply did not want to fix their own mistakes.
WAY too expensive. Be very careful with pricing BEFORE your service. They added on at least $15 for things I didn’t agree to. I was charged $95 and didn’t even have any polish applied on my feet or hands. They never mentioned prices up front and then in the middle of a service she said “oh you know this costs more?”
Go anywhere else but here. Rude staff, prices are incredibly high, and I don’t think the person that did my nails was trained properly a
Changing polish to gel is $20 up charge and not listed on menu. Terrible pedicure. Gel is over the cutical so in a week it will be jagged and fall off. I called them and told them about it, and they are going to re do the nails for free. All good in my book
Love this place! I have four nail salons within a 5 minute walk from my home, but choose to go a little farther to Allure because of how great their manicurists are. I also appreciate that the salon is spacious, so it never feels like you’re on top of people, even when it’s crowded.
Omg. I love this place. They know you by name and welcome you with open arms. Fifi is amazing with hair and makes you look fabulous. All the associates know your fingers and toes. Amazing!!!
I had my nails dipped (powder) and I don’t know what my nail tech did but they chipped almost immediately. I went in maybe 3 days later and I was treated quite poorly. The man kept checking on other clientele (I know I was a walk-in, but I had been there only a few days prior). Also, he put on an acrylic nail, even after I asked him not to. I suggest go somewhere else.
Very quick and professional. Only had mani and pedi but very happy with both. Will be a regular.
Excellent services! The owners are very professional and have cultivated a loyal and satisfied clientele — especially from the neighborhood! My nails are in the best condition they’ve ever been in thanks to Trish.
Absolutely terrific, Great people, great service, very caring and a very tranquil environment. I highly recommend for all. I am now a regular, and so are my friends and family members! A+A+A+
The lady who did my nails did a very bad job. She seems new and clueless. I asked her to cut my toenails, she cut them in different shapes and left them uneven and no shaping and she couldn’t understand what am saying. I am very unsatisfied
I enjoy this salon because it’s extremely clean and quiet and the technicians do a nice job. My only complaint is how expensive it is.
Very negative experience. Untrained staff and rude management. The man who was doing my manicure nicked me twice despite the fact that I told him ten times not to cut my cuticle. I dont think he was trained at all to do this. Never go back.
I’ve going here since they opened. I’ve never had a bad experience. It’s a friendly atmosphere and all the employees are very good. The establishment is spotless and hygienic. It’s my go to spot in DC.
My manicurist was very nice and gave me the best manicure of my life. I am looking forward to returning to Allure.
Booked my appointment for me to come and for them to telling me i gotta wait an hour and looking at me crazy like I’m the one doing the bookings
Walked in just to get my lashes done. Very professional. Quick. Done in a matter of minutes
Had an appointment for nail dipping and fifteen minutes later the technician had not shown up. Very disappointing!
One of the best gel manicures I‘ve ever had.
I would highly recommend this location for their service and experience. Look no more!!
Terrible!! Don’t go. They are basically Fraud.
Horrible experience. I do NOT recommend.
Very overpriced for mediocre pedi -50$!!!????
Good quality but awful service
Very expensive and poor quality. Go somewhere else!!
Peaceful, customer oriented and professional...loved the people
The whole team is very nice.
Great spa treatments.
