The Hop Nite Club & Diner

I absolutely fell in love with this place from the moment we walked in. The energy from the dance floor is welcoming and contagious. I personally can dance anywhere without any liquid courage but my friend is another story. She was asking me to dance just because the music is diverse from oldies to country to rap and Latino music. The staff is always so friendly from the lady at the door and the security guard. The bartenders are always slammed but are quick to get to you. The female bartender is our fave because she always greets us with a smile and is quick to attend to us and make our drinks. There is a server there that is always so nice to us and cleaned us a table last time we came in she is light complexion with short dark hair and glasses. I hate that I don’t remember her name but I plan to ask next time so I can recommend her. The crowd is usually older but lots of regulars and that’s what we enjoy is seeing a lot of the same people there and dancing. If you’re looking for a good time and dancing I would definitely recommend the Hop!

I was having the time of my life at this club, until about the last 30 minutes of the evening. I was having fun dancing all night, and even so when I was dancing with a lady I wanted to get to know better. Well the bouncer guy came up to me right as I was about to talk to her and cut me off. I showed him my house keys to let him know that I was NOT driving and did not have my car keys and was rather driving with my friend, and told me I was cut off drinking regardless . Upset about this, I went to the bartender to close my tab where the bouncer dude FOLLOWED me and told the bartender I was cut off after he saw me tell the bartender I was closing out. I honestly didnt even drink that much there and felt like I was treated unfairly! I have been to other bars around the area where the bartenders and bouncers know me well, and they would have never cut me off for this amount I drank. I was ready to go and I was so upset when I left. I love the music and dancing and the atmosphere of The Hop, but if you are going to treat your patrons this way, then I will go elsewhere to give my business to even if it is a different genre of music. I will NEVER come back here again after this experience. Sad it happened at the end of the night too because I was ready to give this place a 5 star review only after my second time visiting. Yall play great music of back in the day but have horrible customer service!!! Again, you guys lost a great customer and will never recommend others to come here!So after a couple of days of thinking about this, I wanted to come back and update this review. I did enjoy the music and dancing, so I will give one star back for a two star rating. However, I cannot give any more stars back due to the professionalism of your bouncer/doorman. If I did drink too much that night, then ok I completely understand if you want to stop serving me. However, the way the doorman handled the situation was very unprofessional. He should have first pulled me off to the side and had a small talk with me. He should have sternly warned me of what I was doing to make him suspect that I drank to much, and that if I continued my actions I would be cut off. He should NOT have jumped right in front of me in the middle of the club with everyone standing around and when I was about to talk to someone to abruptly say youre cut off and no more drinks. He also should not have followed me like a hawk and told the bartender to stop serving me as he saw me clearly tell him that I was closing my tab. No other doorman anywhere Ive gone to has gone to that extreme action. If he had simply talked to me first, I would have been more accepting and maybe would come back on another night with the mindset of how many drinks I know I should have. However, his actions left a bad taste in my mouth and I simply cant come back to this club and give it any more business. Still a lost customer but wanted to come back here with more clarity to my thought process.

This place is TRASH! A physically & mentally handicapped lady was getting groped & kissed on, & apparently didnt like it, & of course the only gentleman there, me, stood up & persuasively told him to leave her alone or else. Well, you guessed it, they kicked me out! I asked the older door guy, & the other Idiot, What if it was your daughter? No response! JOKE!!!

The dj Jimmy gray or what ever his name is ,is trash. And outdated he will play what you want to hear if you pay him and if he has a problem let me know ur garbage

Around Halloween me and a group, aged 30 and up went to midtown first. It was ridiculously packed and was aggravating. I’ve never been to Hop and agreed so we could get our party started.Omg I had so much fun and don’t even want to bother going to midtown anymore. The atmosphere is so fun and the jams they had on I was positive DJ was bluetoothed to my phone on my “ol’school playlist”!It was actually nice to not be bothered by any youngsters, stupidity etc. We had a blast and I can’t wait to go again!

First time here and did not know you had to have $5 CASH to get in, so then we were told we had to open a bar tab in order to get the $5 dollar bill…like what??? Who carries cash nowadays?? They need to get more current with the times and take credit card or Apple Pay. THEN the rude and very unfriendly girl bartender was not very nice about us closing our bar out after we got our 5 dollar bill, I am not comfortable with having my credit card out there like that, don’t trust that especially at a new place. That is my choice and option to do that, it’s not like we didn’t buy drinks after that with the same credit card, but her face told us that she prejudged us for closing out our tab, which put a bad taste in our mouth for her service. The drinks were good even though pretty small for the price, but I can live with that I suppose. The music and atmosphere was great, all ages and ethnic variations which was really nice, people dancing and having a good time. Overall, had a great time! Would like to see a better system with paying to get inand the bartender needs to have a better attitude or a better poker face and sweeter demeanor, drinks a bit too high…Did not have the food this time but will come back and give it a second chance.

Visited for the first time this last weekend, and this will be the first of many visits, I am quite sure! Came in from Dallas with my GF; she has talked MUCH about this place, and set a great expectation that was exceeded, and we will be back for more.!Great prices on drinks! Excellent music! Diverse crowd! Fantastic lighting! Great atmosphere for some great fun!

Leaving the hop. A handicap man who put his truck in the care of valet service is stranded. He left his keys and truck in their care. Only to return at closing to find they have misplaced his keys. He is now here at 2am in the morning with no way home because they have lost track of his keys. Instead of asking if they can take him home to get his spare keys. Theyre asking if he has somebody that can get them and bring them to him. Nice, great service and Im sure hes happy he paid for the secure valet service.WorkUpdate. 2:52 a.m. still trying to figure out how hes going to get home. I guess on the bright they left his truck unlocked. So at least he has a place to sit while hes trying to figure a way out of his dilemma. Great service guys.

The only thing I have a problem with is whichever DJ is in the booth, last night I saw two get in there at around midnight and right in the middle of a song. . While a bunch of us are dancing, it turns into story time. I dont know if this guy was wanting us to run up and grab an autograph or what. Dude seriously shut up! Stop bragging! The band I played with was invited to play monsters of Rock in the 80s. Not once twice! I played before venues number in 75,000 plus as lead guitar. You never know who is hanging out in your club! No body knows who I am.

If you like to dance this is the dance floor to do it. The floor isnt slippery. I think there is a new DJ. The music lineup has changed. Thursday nights are ladies night and there is no cover for ladies. The bartenders and waitstaff have always been attentive. I hear the owner is investing some more into the rear patio and the restrooms. There is no longer a restroom attendant. Oh wear a shirt with a collar. There is a bit of a dress code. You can call for more accurate info

I would give it a five star because the music and prices are good. But what makes the place not so interesting to me is that about 10:30 on it becomes a very aggressive interracial hunt, mainly men looking for what I observed was drunk women, if youre a woman whos uncomfortable with that type of atmosphere you might want to check out more of the clubs around that area theres a bunch of good ones and theyre obviously much safer

Great place, fun atmosphere my only complaint is the sound. Seriously if your deaf your walking out deafer and if you have perfect hearing you’re walking out deaf. Please please fix the sound system or DJ what ever it is causing this issue fix it so I can change my review to a 5 star. Please and thank you :)

I went to the hop on Friday night November 12th 2021 and had a great time. Good music (70s, 80s,) good sound system, good dance floor, good drink service at reasonable prices. I had not been to the Hop in 25 years! I moved out of town and went back while on a visit to Houston and had a great time.

The Hop has been here since the 80s. Friendly people, dance and great price on drinks. If you’re hungry they serve food specials too. Dance lights are great too. Try out this place for fun.

Great place to go dancing. Thursday is ladies night, no cover for ladies! It does need a bit of updating.(what 30 year old club doesnt)The bartenders are attentive to all humans no matter what nationality or gender. They are so patient! I have seen some winners that I would lose patience with, and the tenders just make their drinks without batting an eye. I hear the owner found someone to help him get the place looking better and setting up the new enclosed patio. The bathroom is unattended now. Im grateful for that.

The is the club of our choice. Me and my husband love the variety of music and the diverse crowd. Management and staff have always been courteous and friendly, Louise makes the best drinks and as busy as she gets has always been friendly and served us with a smile. I always feel safe when I am not at my husbands side. I give The Hop FIVE STARS. Thanks!

Go there to dance. People are friendly and the music makes your feet start stepping. I injured my back was paralyzed for 10 weeks then started working on my walking. My girlfriend took me there for the exercise. I used to constantly hold onto things so I wouldnt fall. 11/20/21 I seldom have to hold onto things and Im getting better and will be there dancing again soon. Its been a great place to go emotionally and physically cause the people are friendly. See you soon!

I love going to The Hop. We always have a good time there dancing. The only thing I do not like is that the DJ plays the same songs every time I go. He does not mix it up a bit and does not play any requests.

First time visiting there. On a Saturday night with another female. I live in Houston.She invited me. The music& videos were very good. Dance floor was large.Great for dancing. Older crowd some younger ppl. Here& there. Lighting good on dance floor. Waitress was nice & attentive. Mixed drinks were too expensive for the small glasses. Beer prices were ok. Small selection of beers. Ordered hot wings. They were good. The men seem to be afraid to ask us to dance. Me & my friend went up couple times to dance by ourselves. One guy kind of joined in. I danced by my table by myself on a lot of songs! Overall I enjoyed the night. Will go back but with a male friend to dance with. After 8 oclock there was.$5 charge. Guy in front of me & my friend,paid for us. That was great!

Top notch place to unwind and groove and sweat ya cares away.

If you like being around an older crowd and love the 80s music well then this is the spot for you. The Hop has been around ever since I went to Junior High at Webster intermediate I still have friends that go to the hop on Thursday nights I think they have some drink specials, and there is never never any drama at all I love the Hop.

They played a variety of music we sat at the bar so my husband could watch the game. Our waitress was polite but there was a short order guy at the bar my husband ask if he could ask the taller gentleman to.get out front the TV and he suggested we move!! Where though?!? On a Saturday night the bar was full. Its one thing if we were rude but we were running a tab. He was just being a douche!!!!

These bartenders are rude, maybe its a racial thing, I dont know. The two women bartenders were rude to my friend and I... when it was time to pay , she gave a copy of the receipt for me to sign, I reached for the pen and she slammed the pen on the counter...she continuously rolled her eyes at my friend and I like she did not want is to serve us. Also the valet guy was just as rude...we were first in line, he ignored us and went to help the people behind us, he literally walked right by us .. I had to say something to him in order for him to help us. This is my first and last time coming here. Either these people are racist or theyre rude and disrespectful to everyone that comes here. I will never come here again. Worst Experience in Webster period!

Although, Ive rated it high, I will say the bad reviews are alittle accurate in a sense of that is how they perceive it. I first went when I was 22, and stop somewhere around 3yrs ago. I had an amazing time every time. Although, im not saying they overexaggerated, what I am saying is everything in life should be taken with a grain of salt. To the lady who got drugged, I can asure you louis had nothing to do with, I know him very well, easiest going fella you could meet. But that was some what her fault or better yet been prevented, if ur gonna get a free drink from a stranger, know the protocol, order from the waitress, 9/10 itll be a women. For the woman whose daughter had the most awful experience, come on wise up, of course theyre go gaga over yall your two college aged women. But im sure had it been hunky 20something yr olds, it would have been aok okie dokie. Heck, thats the reason I went every weekend, cause I was a feast per say. And to the gentleman expressing complaints over the drug usage, come on give the old fellers a break, some of them barely walk alone much less after a few. I mean I dont blame them for having to use a party enhancements. Most of them are good people whove worked extremely hard, and know its time to play hard....cut em sum slack..now as far as the door prices ill say they are tricky with the door prices, theyll get you in a hurry, but its $3 to $4 so come on man. Inconclusion ill say that the hop is an amazing place to go, the music, the atmosphere, its a good set up, but if your not a go out alot kinda person, I suggest you enjoy it in the company of 3 o 4 other couples to maximize, your enjoyment and suppress those over the top and blown abit out of control stories...and no I am no owner, employee, o representatives of any kind im simply a patron who fell in love with a bar/club regardless off the little cosmetic issues. If you enjoy dancing to older music youll like The Hop. Yes its tattered. Yes the bathrooms arent shiny. Yes the booze memu is limited. But if you want to dance to the oldies, if youre not allergic to smoke this place can be a hoot.

You can wear cowboy hats or fedoras but no baseball caps. I guess they consider everyone who wears a baseball cap a thug/gangster!! Stereotyping!! 9/10/22 Update! they now allow you to wear any caps.

Sound system sucks they do not adjust it for each song had a friend ask the dj to send a shout out shout to a friend for their birthday was rude about it and said so what probably will not come back as it was a bad first impression

I applied as a waitress at the hop just looking to make quick cash, seeing that I just moved to Webster less than a week ago. I worked an entire night as shot girl and left with zero dollars. Now this was not because I didnt sell or make any tips, its basically because the owner Kevin is a crook. Their inventory system is the one of the worst i have seen and he said at the end of the night I actually owed him money, opposed to making ANY AT ALL. He then told me I didnt know how to manage my money. I am 30 years old. Not that Im happy about it , but Ive been waitressing and bartending at strip clubs since I was 18 years old. Ive managed more money than the hop had probably seen in its existence. I called Kevin out and he immediately started getting defensive and snatched all the money I made out of my hand. But let me tell you, earlier in the night a bartender had told me of a similar situation involving another girl. Im almost positive this guy uses girls for a night or two , messes with inventory, takes their money and never pays them. He is a crook. And as Ive seen from other bloggers , this is not the first case of money theft. Not to mention the place looks like new strands of disease are formed there, its disgusting and roach infested.

Its really a great little dive with great drinks and pretty good food too... my only complaint is the DJ RARELY takes requests. ..he sticks to the same music line up night after night year after year...

I went to this place with my friends Feb 21, 2020 and the waitress with curly hair charge my card 25 dollar for my virgin pina colada. Terrible be careful with the waitress better to use cash or pay directly to the bar.

Not a good experience at all!! we had been there a good 22 hrs and all teh sudden the manager coems over and tells my husband he has to take off his cap. WHY???? SIR either take it off or leave so we left never again will i go there - and we had the crowd with us..lol there was 15 people in the entire place and 11 of us left

The service was great. Music was what we expected. The drinks are inexpensive, may be low quality mix cocktails but with friends and music it was all good. Recommend and will be back.

40 and up club. With a nice crowd on Saturday nights. Friendly people with a lot of mixed couples just out having fun enjoying life! Great music also!

Its a shame this place is so nasty. Stinks and the carpet probably holds every disease known to man in incubation. It has so much potential. If theyd renovate and change ownership this place would rock.

This place is nicknamed The MeatMarket..so you can get an idea what to look for...nothing but lonely people waiting to get picked up by the opposite sex or same sex whatever your in to..the bathroom is disgusting..yuk..please make sure all your shots are up to date...bring Sanitizer...and your own toilet paper..dont ask why...any how I would find another spot to enjoy a night out...

As long as you go with a good group of friends its fun. Its an older crowd but Ive always enjoyed the variety of music they play.

Lady at the bar skimmed $30 off my change for 2 drinks and had the nerve to get uppity with me when I called her out on it. I wonder how many people she has scammed this way.

The worst place I could have visited in my life, as mentioned in the previous review, it is highly recommended if you want to contract hepatitis or observe people consuming cocaine, is absolute decadence. Bad looking people, the bar staff quite unpleasant, the music is terrible, in short, dont expose yourself by going to see it, ITS NOT WORTH IT, ITS HORRIBLE!
