This was a delicious experience. It is one of the better barbecue places that weve been to. We bought the combo platter with three options: the brisket, the half a chicken, and the pulled pork besides we got were waffle fries and sweet mash. This was split between two people and more than we both could eat together. We also got the carrot cake that weve ever had. Carrot cake is one of the most difficult cakes to do well, and by far, this was an 8 out of 10. We will be coming here again. Friendly staff!
I am impressive of great service & such as comfy place to sit and bring a friend or family who love BBQ. We ordered combo for a good price for couples. Especially for Brisket beef, it tasted very spices and extra salt. Some of that tasted dry but different texture. I think it should less salt. For pretzel with extra cheese cup, I suggest to use that for Mac cheese if you need more extra cheese. They also provide 6 different flavor of BBQ sauces you can add for brisket beef or chicken. Sweet potato isn’t so bad. Just a little bitter and need to add spices. That will taste better. Thanks for the best service.
Carryout for 6 and 4 meals weren’t edible. One brisket was burnt and the other had so much fat. What can I say about this chicken. Pick up was scheduled for 5:45 but they called at 5:20 saying it was ready. No cornbread either. Seriously!AUGUST 17thI called and talked to management. My name and phone number were taken and I was told I would be called back. It’s been a week and I still haven’t heard from them.
Just had our company Christmas party at Ginopolis Bar-BQ Smokehouse and what a great place! The party room was quite a surprise with a full bar, plenty of seating, and game equipment for the guests to use. The food was fantastic, but the best feature at Ginopolis was the personal service we received from the owners Melissa and Pete, and our waitress Caitlyn. I would definitely recommend Ginopolis Bar-BQ Smokehouse to anyone looking for a private party room. Thank you Melissa and Pete!Sue, Novi Spring Inc.(Sorry I couldn’t add more pictures but I didn’t get permission from our guests)
Our family of four had pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and a burger. I was pretty disappointed in all of the meat. The brisket was almost inedible; chewy and dry. No wonder they serve it with an au jus because otherwise youd choke on it. My pulled pork was ok but there was aluminum foil mixed in (picture attached). That was a definite turn off. The ribs were overdone. The sides and sauces were fine as was the service. If you know good bbq, youll want to give this place a pass.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner at Ginopolis in downtown Brighton, MI. Geri, our server, was very attentive. My husband had the Brisket Reuben & I enjoyed the Pulled Chicken dinner. If you like Greek Salads try theirs with Greek Vinaigrette dressing, its tasty. Dinners included two sides. I chose Sautéd Bacon Green Beans & Sweet Potato Mash. Green Beans had good flavor and the Sweet Potato Mash is creamy yumminess! Pulled Chicken comes dressed with G House BBQ sauce. I asked to try Carolina Gold, Memphis, and Texas Bold sauces. BBQ sauce is a personal preference type of thing, but I highly recommend Texas Bold. G sauce is good, too! A staple item that comes with dinner is cornbread. Its sweet, but moist. I prefer cornbread unsweetened, but the moistness couldnt be beat. Thanks, Peter G, for stopping by and introducing yourself. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!
The protein section order the brisket and the bacon. Amazing!! I smoke my own food so pretty picky but for $7 for the both you won’t be disappointed. Filled me up for boozing and the sauces were good. Page the bartender was phenomenal. Definitely will be back.
I stopped here very quick on Sat night to see what it was about. The music was good (they mixed a few old school top hits in with line dancing type county hits) It got people up and dancing! I love to see that. It appeared also, that they had hired a younger couple to do professional line, or country dancing. They were fun to watch! (possibly they were just patrons, I have no idea! LOL) There were a decent amount of people there & was fun. I only had one drink and no food but the service was quick and nice! Bottom line, I like this business a whole lot better this way than the old BBQ restaurant. This is much more fun!
This place was super cute! Great food! I feel the dj needed to stick to just country music since it is a country bar. Also, I think having a line dance teacher out there dancing to get things going a bit as far as dancing. Also, I recommend a karaoke night day!
Between the three of us, we tried most of the protein selections and were underwhelmed by all of them. I had the beef brisket, it tasted good, but was very dry. I felt like it was cooked yesterday and reheated for lunch. I tried the PBJ Tater Tots. They were great as were the seasoned waffle fries. If the entries were as good this would be an outstanding restaurant. Great service and nice facility.
We got the 3 piece combo meal and we chose the pulled pork, onion straws, brisket, smoked chicken and a burger. It was impossibly good. The quantity and the quality reached above our expectations. The service was great as well.over all we would give this place a 8.5 out of 10. Definitely recommend. The waitress also bought us a goody box to go🤩
This place is just OK. The service weve had the two times weve eaten here has been excellent (same waiter). The brisket and pulled pork is good but nowhere near what you can get in a few places downtown Detroit if you are willing to make the drive. The pulled chicken I did not like, it just tasted not bad but odd, I cant really explain it. I cant speak to the ribs as Ive not tried them. The sauces are good. The sides are the biggest disappointment and need a serious upgrade. The green beans are just bad. The fireroasted corn should be on the cob and a lot better. They need sweet potato fries. The other sides weve tried were just average to a little below. The mother clucker (chicken sandwich) is pretty bland. The kids menu needs better options that kids actually want to eat. The outdoor seating and live music is pretty nice if you get a nice day when they have that going on. Prices are too high for the quality of food you get (the sides). Its not exactly the same food options but you can get a lot better southern meal down the street at Bourbons for a little cheaper and the portions are two meals really. If you stick to the beef/pork and fries and want to enjoy a beer while listening to music then its worth going.
I would give it a 3.5 or maybe a 4 star. The atmosphere and music was awsome! Just what this town needed- a really fun place to go dance and enjoy themselves with people that arent 22 with rap music OR arent eating a 100.00 meal! However, the reason for the 3.5 star is the food. Maybe based on other reviews it was just the night we were all there. A group of us went for line dancing and our food was cold and not good at all. It isnt expensive but it certainly isnt cheap. My bill with drinks was over 60.00 and I left hungry. I hope it was just the night, our order or because it is new... I really want to go back and give it another shot. My BD is next weekend so maybe I can talk the girls into giving it another shot!
Food was excellent. Got the pulled chicken, pulled pork and brisket. Owner stopped over to check on us twice. Service from both bartenders (Brock and Harry) was fantastic! Thanks to Mr. Ginopolis for the expertise. See ya soon.
The food was very good. The five people in my group all really enjoyed what they ordered. The mud pie and pecan pie deserts were great. The kids meal was impressive and came with a little finger puppet that my son loved. Service was very quick on a Thursday night. The owner walked around to all the tables to check in on guests. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean and had a comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely recommend and be returning again.
Great barbecue, the ribs fall off the bone. We used to go to the Farmington hills location all the time. A buddy of mine ordered the bacon wrapped mac & cheese bites they were amazing too. Prices are very reasonable. Would highly recommend!
I placed a carryout order. The meal was promptly prepared and ready when I arrived. The staff was very friendly as well.I went with high hopes, after seeing pictures of the food and the very positive review. Unfortunately, the food was sub par. It was all perfectly edible, but it was quite bland overall.I ordered the brisket combo with mac and cheese, green beans, and a side of pulled pork. The beans were the highlight of the meal: well cooked and flavorful. The mac and cheese was passable, but tasted a bit artificial. The pork was extremely bland, but moist. There was very little smokiness. It tasted almost vinegar-y. The brisket was a bit better flavor-wise, but quite dry. The meat flavor did come through slightly, with a hint of smoke and the spice rub. The BBQ sauces were both quite good; the meats ultimately just served as a vehicle for the sauces. The cornbread was a northern style cornbread: a bit sweet and moist, with just a thin, cake-like crust and a mild corn flavor.
Horrible service!!! First time we tried going to this place and will never do so again! Their menu looked great… my family of 5 was seated for over 15 minutes and not a single waitstaff acknowledged that we were there! It wasn’t busy either, maybe 6 or 8 tables and 3 servers. After the third or fourth time the table right next to us was visited by the waiter we walked out. Who knows if the food is any better than the service. We went next door to The Pound, dropped $100, and weren’t disappointed!
Delicious! We went there to celebrate my birthday and I’m glad we did! I got the BBQ salad with pulled pork and it was great and a huge portion! My husband has the ribs and love them. The corn bread was amazing! My two year old got the Mac and cheese and ate it all. I didn’t see desserts on the menu (maybe I missed them) otherwise I would have treated myself to a birthday dessert! We will definitely be back!
Awesome barbecue. Brisket is delicious, sauces are great, sides are tasty. The smoked sausage is my personal favorite. Tatertots are golden and crispy, baked beans are perfect, mac and cheese is pretty good.. Prices are very reasonable. Service is great. Only thing that I did not like was the ribs, which they are just too plain. This is my familys new place to go.
Terrible. Got the combo platter. Everything seemed oven cooked. No smoke ring on anything. No bark. Grey brisket soaked in beef broth. Ribs were dry and tasted old. Pulled pork was like it was soaked in apple sauce. Just gross. After returning nearly a full $30 plate i was compensated $10. Neat. Death to rich hipsters.
If your thinking about it, dont come here. It took forever to receive the food. When it arrived it was cold. I ordered flame roasted corn, now when you think of flame roasted corn, you thing of a nice warm corn on the cob right? No, I received a bowl of corn with more onion and green pepper than corn. Owners if your reading this, I want my corn. Anyway, the brisket was not great. Clearly not smoked and overall kinda tasteless. Not a great experience.
If i only had 5 stars left to give, this place would get them all. I am absolutely in love. Every meat was tender and tasty. The bbq sauces were all delicious. The cornbread was moist. And the coleslaw was even incredible. Do not miss Ginopolis!
The pulled pork was amazing, they have 5 or 6 BBQ sauces sitting at the table for you to decide which is right for you. In my case the answer was all of them. They all brought something unique. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a BBQ joint. Staff was very friendly and I believe we were even seated by the owner which was awesome. Great food , great experience.
We had the Beef brisket dinner and it was full of great flavor and melted in my mouth! All of meal was well prepared and delicious. I enjoyed their homemade potato chips as well. Very good service and the owner stopped at our table to say hello and get our feedback.
Ordered a ton of BBQ, several sides of BBQ sauce to go with the pulled pork, etc & the sauces never came in the order. Didn’t find out til I got home. Food was decent but can’t give you a good score if you leave parts of my order out. And not driving 15 min back into town to get what y’all forgot. Sauce is crucial for pulled pork.
The food is good. Dont deny that. The service is not on par. Called to place a carryout order and was told that they do not accept phone in orders on busy nights and I would have to place the order online. The online ordering system is not great. It took me about 10 minutes to order 3 meals. The system said that it would take 35 minutes to prepare. I received a text about 5 minutes later saying mynordernwould be ready in 5 minutes. I had a 20 minute drive. When I arrived the dining room was half empty and 4 members of the service staff were loitering around the host station, engrossed in conversation. That is not my definition of busy.Refocus to all aspects of customer service and presentation.
Went during the pandemic and ordered online. They are offering 20% off when you pick up. The Mac and cheese bites are amazing! Brisket is nice and tender. Corn bread was also really good! Best Ive had at a barbecue restaurant by far. The people are so nice, wonderful service. We will be back very soon!
Hands down one of the best meals I have had in a long time!!!! Staff very nice but the food is amazing!! Mac and cheese the coleslaw the baked beans........ are all top notch! The pig pen fries are delicious. The BBQ sauces are on point! Can’t say enough about this place!
So excited to go for lunch today. We had the jumbo wings, soup, and coleslaw. All was amazing. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the service was pretty slow. Took quite a while to get our drinks, and then the soup, wings, and coleslaw all came out at once when our drinks were almost gone. We figured that the restaurant has only been open for 5 days, so service will improve in time. Everyone was very, very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be going back.
Just had my 70th birthday party here. Amazing amazing food, service, location and help. Melissa and Pete went way out of their way to make it special. The food was absolutely fantastic! The bartenders were truly great! They left nothing to chance. I really suggest you use them for your catering needs and party needs, or just to come for dinner. You will. Ot regret it. The wings are huge and tasty, the Mac and cheese is really great and the ribs and pulled chicken and pork are yummy! Please try to get there soon. You will NOT regret it!
Had a great dinner there with friends. Our server was wonderful and the food delicious. One thing: We were given Styrofoam after-dinner to-go boxes. How about sustainability?
Had lunch at Ginopolis on Saturday (11/2/19). The food was amazing...especially the ribs. Im hoping the service improves. We waited to be seated for approximately 15 min. There was no wait, it just took three staff members that long to figure out where to seat us and then the same three employees to clean a four top table?? Once seated, it took another 10 min. to be acknowledged. Once we ordered, the food came out quickly and was great. The server was very pleasant, but not very knowledgeable of the menu or bar. Hopefully just inexperienced staff and this will improve.
Absolutely AMAZING!! From service to food , our dining experience was above and beyond what we expected!! Our waitress was super sweet and the owner was so fun! We ordered all the options to try out the menu and everything was delightfully tasty. This is for sure our new go to option for eating out. We’re so pleased we finally got to try it. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you for an incredible evening.
Good food!...but not much of choice for vegetarians. I would like go there more often but I would have to leave my wife at home who is a vegetarian or go somewhere else. The service was great and the drinks were good. Oh yeah you guys were noted for great pizzas! Wheres your pizza thats what made you great! Add that to your menu. Over all very nice place!
Stopped here on a whim for a late lunch, early dinner, and couldnt have left happier. The food was amazing, though slightly over cooked on the brisket, and our server Jillian was amazing! She had a wonderful personality and excellent service. Definitely planning on a trip back.
The best beef brisket I have had! Very friendly wait staff with prompt service. And Pete, the owner, took the time to talk with me and my family. We were celebrating our sons birthday and Pete made a point to meet him and our daughter in law at the front door to welcome them!We have to found our new favorite restaurant in Brighton!!!
Yum yum yum. Great food. The Cajun catfish was super flaky and the spices were just spicy enough. The cornbread is sweat and almost cake-like & oh so delish. The gumbo also really good. Wouldve liked a hotter BBQ sauce option on the table. Service was good. The downside: this place is so noisy that it detracts from the meal. The noise when you walk in almost bowls you backwards. Fix that and Id bump this to a 5 star.
I just really like this place. It is rare to have owners or managers stop by to see if everything is ok anymore! The staff is friendly as well; Tom the bartender. Last visit we got cheese curds to go & I must say they were the best I ever had. Brisket Rueben & onion loaf are so good.
We’ve been to every place in Brighton a million times. These guys opened up and we wanted to give them a try. We aren’t big BBQ people but maybe they’ve changed our minds! Everything was fantastic. From our wedge salad to the BBQ and slaw, cornbread, my wife’s bourbon slushy, and so on. Every staff person was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back. Really a great experience!
Good food & service. Glad to finally have a good BBQ option close to home! Came with a big party & the waitress was accommodating & did a good job. The atmosphere is a little loud but to be expected at this type of restaurant on a weekend. I will definitely be back to eat here again & tell my family about this place.
Not familiar with this side of town, but found this bbq place and I’m glad I did. Forgot the servers name but she was great, believe her hair was shaved on the sides and back. Anyways, food was exactly what I was looking for, from the brisket to all the sides. Skipped on dessert, maybe next time 😁
This was my 2nd time in. Was just meeting a friend for a beer. The bartender Brock greeted us with a smile and took awesome care of us. He was running the bar and the restaurant at the same time. He is a gem. Thanks for the awesome service. Well be back for some BBQ. People were loving it.
We had, Brisket was very good, chicken was little on dry side, beans were excellent, mashed sweet potatoes pretty good. Also chicken sandwich was wonderful, fries were great.Old couple from Arizona
Updating my 2 star review to a 5 star.Wife got the fried chicken. If you grabbed a bone and shook the meat fell off. 10/10Daughter got the Mac and cheese with pulled pork. The pulled pork was moist and smokey and the Mac and cheese was awesome.I got the pit boss, this is a smoked burger that was amazing. Super moist and flavorful. Mike me up cause I could do some asmr with the tots.Only complaint this time was the generous amount of Onion on the burger.
Food was good. Standard BBQ fare. Good sauces. Big portions. Service was less than stellar. They were not busy either, so not sure if it was just yhe day or what.
Disappointing. I so wanted to like this place. Hostess on phone taking a carry out order when we arrived. Waited nearly 5 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone even though waiters were standing around. Food was good, but portions were smaller than expected. Service was not great. Waited nearly 10 minutes for drinks after we ordered them. Had to wait another few minutes for straws. Asked for more ice for tea, waited another 5-6 minutes. I could forgive if waiter was super busy, but he wasnt. He was chatting with the hostess. Asked for more iced tea, waited another 10 minutes only to be told no one knew where the iced tea packets were and the manager was in the basement working a party. Iced tea packets? Could he not go in the basement to ask? Ive worked in restaurants for nearly 20 years. I can forgive a whole lot, but this was not good. He did apologize numerous times, but it lost its effect after a while. I doubt we will be back.
My husband and I shared the barn yard combo. Delicious! The ribs and pulled pork were my favorite. I enjoyed all of their sauces too. Great service at the bar. We will definitely be back!
At first everything looked great including the carry out process. Even when we came home to dig into our New Year’s Eve treat, everything tasted okay. However a few hours later both my wife and myself (both ordered the same thing) became incredibly ill from food poisoning with in a few hours. Definitely not the way I wanted to start off my new year.
I had dinner with friends. Very nice dinner. The BBQ chicken salad was delicious, pulled pork sandwich, wings were great. The atmosphere is very nice. Great kids menu! The owners Peter and Melissa Ginopolis couldnt have been nicer. Great waitress, too. I would highly recommend trying this Brighton restaurant on Main Street.
Pricing is great, food was superb. Maybe one of the best smoked wings and ribs Ive ever had. Kids meals were amazing and honestly delicious, came with a surprise toy that the boys loved and cinnamon pretzel bites. Portions were great too. Get the bacon and brisket baked beans and the mac n chz as a side!Mud Pie was gone so fast I couldnt get a picture in time!
The food was excellent! One of the best bbq dinners Ive had. The owner came around to every table whole we were there and talked with everyone. Great restaurant, family friendly, and welcoming. We will definitely be returning and telling others to visit.
First visit earlier tonight, surely wont be the last. Great, friendly staff, all our meals (brisket, fried chicken, fish n chips) were excellent, as were all the sides. The owner, Peter stopped by to say hi and see how things were which was a nice touch. You dont see that in most places any more. Will definitely return and recommend.
We stopped in on a warm, sunny Fall afternoon to give it a try since we had yet to patronize. The inside is very cool looking and gives off a great vibe. We sat on the patio which was enlarged by adding seating at the rail - smart idea and better allows for people-watching. I just had a couple of craft beers (selection is so-so) and my wife enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. We arrived later than planned and ended up in the shade whi h definitely was much cooler than expected - space heaters would be a good idea. We look forward to returning in the Spring.
I had the pulled pork, added on the sausage, green beans, and mac & cheese. The green beans were out of this world and the pulled pork was seriously among the best bbq Ive ever had! Mac & cheese and sausage were delicious too. I will absolutely be back. Plus, the owner personally visited all the tables to ensure our satisfaction. That was a nice touch! This restaurant is ideal for families too, which is nice since downtown Brighton doesnt have many restaurants that cater to kids.
Loved it. Cant wait to go back. A tad loud so keep that in mind if you are trying to go to dinner to visit with someone. The Reuben is to die for. Same with thr loaded waffle fries.
Dropped in with some friends on Saturday and decided to get the fries with pulled pork, and a dinner combo with brisket, pulled pork, sausage, pork ribs & cornbread, mac and slaw on the side. The appetizer was great; the stars of the dinner plate were the ribs and pulled pork. Ribs were seasoned well and fell off the bone delicious. Pork was great, too and paired well with the Texas BBQ sauce- tried them all, the best way to go. The brisket? Not the greatest. It was a bit overdone and the rub was not for me. The corn bread was a sweet one, lots of honey. Delicious! I will be back soon... glad to have a local BBQ joint finally!
The food was terrific, every dish we had was perfectly created. The staff is prompt and knowledgeable. Bonus is Mr G hopping around the place making sure everyone is feeling welcome and satisfied with their meal. We will be back, and often!
A group of us enjoyed an exceptional dinner here. Our orders included ribs,Brisket, pulled pork, and grilled salmon. Everyone gave very high ratings to their dishes. We are looking forward to our next meal here. The staff is very friendly, and the owner is welcoming.
We had lunch there yesterday and the food was really good but the service was terrible. We had to ask for silverware, napkins etc and the waitress definitely had an attitude. All the tables around us needed to be cleaned off while most of the while four waitresses were in the back corner talking. Good food, terrible service.
Great Mac & Cheese! Polite & friendly staff! Kids loved their waffle fries. Only complaint was no option for chicken strips for the kids. Otherwise atmosphere was great, bathrooms clean and good food!
App was easy to use, only took 20 minutes for pickup. But the food is gross. Its really bad BBQ. St. Louis ribs, sausage link, sweet potatoes, corn bread and wedge salad were horrible. The green beans were good though. If they were not a BBQ joint then it would be 2 stars, but expectation is higher with that in the name!
Ordered takeout last week. Service was fine, food was sub-par. Mac-n-cheese had no flavor, and none of the meats we tried were really good at all. Very disappointed. The best thing we ate was the baked beans, which is not great for a place that is supposed to be known for their BBQ and meats. Also, responding to a negative review to request that they remove the review is not a good look.
My family went to Ginopolis a few days ago and it was crowded! We got this lovely server named Leah! She was so nice and careful. (I have a severe dairy allergy) everything was so perfect for us! Will definitely come back and see her!
I could not have been happier with our experience catering with Ginopolis. We had originally placed a catering order with them for a November party. Of course it was cancelled due to the pandemic. Melissa returned my deposit no questions asked and completely understood. We decided to place a smaller order with them for the same date a few days later, and Melissa delivered it personally. The food was excellent as always. There’s not much better than ribs that literally fall off the bone. I was absolutely thrilled with our experience and can’t wait to visit them and cater with them again!
Our first time experience was marvelous! As was most of the food. To be honest, some of the appetizers were just so-so. Overall, the food was great! We will be back to try different things. It was about time that Brighton was blessed with a really good barbecue!
We had appetizer of waffle fries bacon cheese and pork, and then ribs corn bread and coleslaw for the main meal. All was really good. Reasonable prices for downtown Brighton. Staff was friendly. I will definitely return.
First time eating here. Pulled pork and brisket came out cold. Aside from being cold this was the worst tasting bbq (pork or brisket) that I have ever had. The brisket was very tough and had no flavor and the pork was equally bad (I ate one bite and that was enough). Perhaps they are suffering from pandemic shortage in the kitchen, in which case, I feel for them, but if you are any restaurant, at least serve warm food.
Great BBQ. Prices are high, but we shared a pick three and it was plenty for two, with some to take home too. Try the Texas sauce mixed with the Chipotle for a nice sweet but spicy mix.
All the food was spectacular on opening night. We had the brisket dinner, chicken dinner, bacon wrapped macaroni and cheese bites, bacon green beans, and fire roased corn. The bacon wrapped macaroni bites were sooo good. The meat was so tasty that sauce is not required but there are many to choose from if desired. Pete, the owner, was very friendly. We are definitely looking forward to returning.
I cant tell you how much we loved watching a happy staff serve us such great food and nice size pours. They know how to serve BBQ southern style with slaw and pickles and cornbread. Great place. Glad to have them in Brighton!!
This was our first and probably last meal there. The Smokey BLT was terrible. The toughest sandwich I have ever had. The bacon was with no flavor and like leather. Ordered a cherry lemonade...tasted like a cup of sugar...no cherry or lemon flavor to it. Over priced for what was served. Not worth trying a dinner plate.
The place is very clean. The brisket was a bit dry & the ribs were very fatty. Not sure of the theme as it seems to be half sports bar, half BBQ joint. Either way, a decent place to eat & the staff was great.
Weve got a two-month-old at home, and on Valentines day my in-laws came into town so we could have our first date night since she was born (woo hoo!). We were going to go to a different restaurant but the smell of BBQ and the street appeal drew us in.We were worried it would be packed due to Valentines day, but we got a table right away. The server, hostess, and manager (or maybe the owner?) were very friendly and the food was delicious.I had my first cocktail since before I was pregnant here. I wish I could remember the name of the drink, but it was a brown bourbon-based slushy drink served in a mason jar. It was delicious and potent, and I would definitely get it again. I think it had the word southern in the name.
The short wait at the bar W/ hand crafted bourbon drink was so good! Best chopped Greek salad - tossed side of onion straws on top ..delicious 😋 everyone raved about their meals & making plans to go back! Staff all hustled made it a great night!
We had a fantastic meal with the kids. Everybody loved their good and there were zero complaints. Our waiter, Christopher, was on it and very attentive. Kudos! Great bbq, great atmosphere, great service.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, Pete the owner came by our table a couple times, to make sure everyone was happy and just to chat, very nice man. You can tell he takes great pride and care of his place! A very nice touch, most restuarant owners do not do that!
My husband and I decided to take a walk downtown and then find a place to eat dinner tonight (a Sunday), we chose Ginopolis as neither of us had been there before. We absolutely loved it here! I was a little leary at first because when the hostess sat us at our table it was dirty however a couple minutes later a gentleman walked up and asked how we were doing, noticed the table was dirty and immediately got a rag to clean it. This man turned out to be the owner and he stopped by a few times to chat with us while we were there, as he did with all the other tables. And the food was really good. We had a really good time and will definitely be back again! Also, they give a 10% discount to military and first responders!
The shrimp was delicious. Love the Carolina sauce. Great variety of other sauces at the table to try. Had the privelage of meeting the owner Peter who stopped at our table to say hi
Food was amazing! Owner was very personable. We came during the holiday glow, so it was really busy. Service was slightly off point, but I would definitely go back. Great addition to downtown Brighton.
Pete’s restaurants have been outstanding for my entire dining career. Over 50 years. Luvya Pete and your beautiful Family. Marty Crandall
Did something change in the way you cooked the food or did you change food vendors?Or did we just hit a bad time. The chicken and ribs had zero char on it, as any bbq place has , And the chicken was borderline cooked. Red enough inside to make you second guess it. Mac and cheese looked and tasted like it came from a stoffers box. The ribs were rubber. I hope this economy doesn’t have this place cutting corners.
The food is ALWAYS good. Great customer service, too. One time (in three years) they made a mistake with my order, they immediately fixed it. They quickly turned what could have been a negative experience into a positive, and I left happy.
Went in today with the kids while theyre home for Christmas, had ribs, fried chicken, and pulled pork; it was all delicious! Our waitress was great, kept our drinks topped off and brought appetizers while waiting for everyone to show up.
Outstanding beef brisket! The atmosphere is great and the staff are super friendly. There was a pretty long wait for a table, so we sat at the bar and enjoyed appetizers and bourbon slushy’s - awesome! I would definitely recommend this BBQ place!
The food and service was outstanding. A nice homey atmosphere. The bathrooms were very clean as well The owner was out checking on everyone and making small talk. I really appreciate that. We will be back again and will be bringing more friends.
Cowgirls is not a country bar and we drove there from out of town because we thought we were going to be listening to country and western music and be able to do a little dancing. There were two people in a makeshift band playing Creedence Clearwater, the mama and papas in Kid Rock with nobody dancing basically don’t waste your time going there I’m looking for country music.
We ordered online and gave our pick up time. 20 minutes before the stated time they messaged to say the food was ready. We still arrived at the time we specified (couldnt get there sooner) and our food was just sitting out. Nothing was warm. The food itself wasnt good. The Brisket was very lean (Brisket is not a lean cut of meat) and didnt have a good smokey flavor to it.The ribs were very fatty and didnt have much meat on them. There was very little good bbq flavor in the ribs. The sausage was oversmoked and the smoke flavor overpowered everything. The smoke ring on the sausage was too deep into the meat. Couldnt finish it.The mac and cheese tasted like it was velvetta cheese over noodles.Waffle fries were good, though cold. The cornbread was pretty good. Not too sweet with a light texture.Their carolina bbq sauce tasted more like a mustard sauce when carolina bbq sauce is typically vinegar based, not mustard based. This was our second time eating here. Both were bad. There wont be a third time.If you know good bbq, this place is a disappointment.
Terrible service and rude staff. We waited an hour to be seated when there were 5 or 6 tables open. After an hour the hostest told us it wont be anytime soon for us to be seated. When asked why she said that is what the manager said. This place was not busy, just rude. We went to The Pound and were sat right away and had a fantastic dinner.
Amazing food! They were also really accommodating with our extremely large group of people and their basement is super nice with lots of games! Will definitely be back!
This place is great and the bbq is delicious! We were working in michigan and ate here a few nights in a row. So far the food and service was great everytime
Dropped in here to check it out, and were glad we did. Theyve been open 3 weeks now, and Peter G.s extensive experience in the restaurant business shows. No startup glitches, they were running great without hiccups. The first impression is the restaurant is inviting and comfortable. The second impression is a friendly greeting and Peter Ginapolis, the owner, is working the front, introduces himself to us, and takes us to our table. He came back a couple more times to make sure everything was to our liking, and even took me outside to meet his chefs who were working the smoker. The quality of the ingredients is evident- everything was fresh and prepared technically well, seasoning and flavor profiles were just right. The pulled pork was delicious, just the right amount of smoke (they use both hickory and cherry in the smoker), excellent texture, and not one glob of fat or connective tissue on the plate. The pulled chicken was equally of high quality, not dried out, and well seasoned. Sides were good, roasted corn, brisket bacon beans, mac n cheese. All great. There is a good selection of draft and bottled beers, wine, and a full bar. Menu has a bigger selection of items than most BBQ restaurants, with apps, seafood, salads, sandwiches, and full dinners.Ginopolis BBQ is a nice addition to the already great variety of good restaurants in downtown Brighton, and we will be coming back.
Mixed bag. Service and atmosphere were great. Prices seemed fair. Food was just okay. My wife enjoyed her BBQ chicken salad. I ordered the beef brisket and was pretty disappointed. It comes served in a large dish of au jus, which sounds like a good idea, but ultimately washes off any seasoning or flavor from the rub. The end result was a pretty bland brisket with lots of juice. This soup style approach to serving brisket also makes it difficult to use any of their BBQ sauces unless you decide to squirt the BBQ sauce in with the inch deep au jus. Logistically, I think it would have worked out much better with the au jus on the side. Lesson learned. Perhaps the restaurant will consider my suggestion. Corn and mac and cheese sides were also just so-so. Cornbread was very good.
Solid BBQ! Despite being short-staffed (like nearly all restaurants right now!), servers were attentive to our tables and others, and did a great job. Were not from the area, but the next time were driving through Brighton, well likely stop again.
Had the cajun catfish today, Im glad there is finally a place around here to get great catfish! daughters pulled pork and chicken were good as well. or server was prompt and friendly. well definitely be back!
My buddy and I really enjoyed our recent experience at Ginopolis! We both got the BBQ Brisket Rueben and it was an awesome combination of flavors, I’d definitely recommend it and get it again in the future! The restaurant has a great atmosphere with great service. Definitely recommend supporting this local business!
Everything about this place is amazing. I absolutely love the bourbon slushies and the brisket Reuben! But i don’t think you can go wrong. The service has always been good as well.
Ribs and baked beans are amazing here. The owner introduced himself to our table and other tables. Service was exceptional - our food was hot and our drinks were paid attention to. Definitely recommend dining here You will not be disappointed
If you want good barbeque and youre in Brighton, you will be tempted by this spot! You will see bar-bq in the name, its on main street, they have a 4 and a half star rating. I love good bbq, you will think to yourself, I should get some!If you were fooled by this place like I was, you will regret your life choices. There is no good barbeque here. Most of the other reviews mention this is awful pre-packaged food, and these people have no idea how a smoker or fire works to cook food. Their kitchen uses ovens, broilers and microwaves for your whole meal, and you will be lucky if your food doesnt sit under a lamp for half an hour while your waitstaff provides awful service.Avoid this place.
Nice atmosphere! Food is good, but didnt come out hot, more like room temp. Good place to take the kids out for dinner. They have a kids menu which is great, but wish they also had crayons and paper to entertain children.
Drinks are good, food is fantastic, and the servers are always very nice. Great place to eat anytime, but especially when Brighton has their downtown Ladies Night
The pulled pork platter, corn bread, and sauces were fantastic. The owner seems to give every table special attention and clearly knows how to run a restaurant. We will be back soon!
I had the brisket with baked beans and sweet potato mash, it was all delicious! Best BBQ I’ve had around the area.
I love the cornbread cake. My pulled pork was good. The only reason for 3 stars was my fathers smoked chicken, it was grossly over smoked and Ill be lucky if I can ever get him to go back.
Place is not the best to be honest. Youre better off BBQn yourself, or buying from the tasty as it can get, BBQ truck you find usually in front of the Beverage Cellar. Its as basic as the flaky owners wife, as well as opposite of concupiscible as can be, and as dull as the lack of personality bartenders who hardly know how to mix drinks let alone pour a craft beer. Servicein general, at the current time, take out mostlt, is below par, they seem to flip employees a lot. Many of the good ones weve seen are gone.Menu never changes much and they never offer specials, well at least not any time we have been there, which was but a couple times too many. Pete is alright, nice guy. But seems like he works harder than his staff. We tried a few times to give them a chance but we all agree they dont deserve a spot in our community of amazing and notable other long lasting establishments. They cannot hold up to their end of the bargain.•The owners have done enough to show face, let hire a general manager and go home.•Try not to fire and hire so much. Your original staff was the best.• Have more specials. We are certain you have items hitting the use by date, put them out there.•Take Out process sucks. Or maybe its the never smiling, moody, seems like they hate their job, bartenders or Hostesses.• 1 star for the review. Second ☆ is for the head chef, and those who help smoke items. Keep up the good flavor, but take your knowledge and open your own place.☆《 》☆ FYHR
When we arrived at 6:45PM, we were told a table should be ready in 30 minutes or so. Around the 40 min mark we asked about how much longer. The hostess said just a few minutes. At the 1 hour mark we inquired again and were informed that our table was taken by regulars and that they refused to leave. As a local here in Brighton, we are a bit bummed that the service is so poor and they blamed a group that took a table. Note that the establishment served the group and never informed us. Too bad.
Music too loud. Had to yell across the table to talk. The owners are friendly. The food was average. Nothing to write home about. For a BBQ place, not feeling it. Famous Daves gets my vote.
We attempted to eat here with our family, which included our 5-week-old who was in her car seat. The restaurant didn’t have a sling to set the car seat in but instead offered to have us set the car seat in an upside down high chair; it was wobbly and not secure, so with no other options for her car seat, we decided to leave. The staff was very kind and helpful, but it’s super disappointing that a family restaurant doesn’t have a safer option for car seats.
We just left the restaurant pretty disappointed. We were very excited to make this the first restaurant we went to after quarentine and never got greeted by a server. We waited a good 15-20 before deciding to leave. I could understand if this was in the middle of a lunch rush but shouldnt happen at 230. We will be back to give it a go but pretty bummed out so far.
Great place for barbecue! Great bark, nice smoke ring and very juicy and tender. The ribs, pulled pork and chicken all were very good! The sides were very tasty too. Very reasonable price also.
Dont let fact that is in Brighton fool you ,they have some great BBQ there! The place is small so on the weekend you might have to wait a little but its worth it.Friendly staff clean. Its all new but this place is gonna rock so get in there and try it. The BBQ is smoked and fall off the bone tender.
One of the best restaurants Ive been to in a while with really good barbecue great service and good atmosphere will definitely return in the future
Wonderful meal. I highly recommend this restaurant. Brisket, ribs and G sauce are all outstanding. Great outdoor seating as well. Peter and his staff will serve you well.
Great place on the corner , great atmosphere, spectacular food and service, you can feel the history that Ginopolis brings , and bourbon slushies lets not forget, thankyou to Peter and the crew , made for a special fathers day , just wish we could have stayed longer
Downtown Brighton is getting a bit of a restaurant boom. Ginopolis is the most recent new offering and brings something new in a real sit down barbeque place. You get teased right away as the outside smoker wafts a savory scent.Inside youre greeted by a shabby-shiek interior with a country/sports bar vibe. My daughter and I came in early for lunch while it wasnt busy yet, but as the noon hour got closer the conversation noise got loud at half full. At capacity, its probably a great time, but you might have to yell at your table mates. The menu is full of bbq favorites and is fairly priced. Today I had the brisket Reuben while my daughter had a grilled cheese and tots. All of the kids meals are right around $6 and if theyre all like the grilled cheese, tots, pretzel bites, and toy... then theyre a superior value for kids meals. My Brisket Reuben was good as well. I expected a slightly larger meat portion and while the brisket was cooked quite well it didnt seem to have much smoke flavor. Regardless, the sandwich was quite good coupled with their chips and a beer.I look forward to coming back for an order of their notable ribs.Service is on par for downtown Brighton but superior to the Pound, and thats a good place to start.
Now I dont have to drive to 12 Mile and Middlebelt for great Barbecue. The food here is deliciously amazing, well worth the wait or the drive.Hey Pete, get that Greek dressing back!Welcome to Brighton and it was good to see you again.
This was our first time at the restaurant the wait staff was very friendly and the food was amazing!!! We will definitely be back to eat there again and we have let all our friends and family know if they are ever in the area to stop and eat.
Really great BBQ. The food isnt dry and has a lot of flavor. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. He made us feel appreciated and welcome.Thank you!
First time going, waiter suggested a few things to try. Had bacon wrapped mac n cheese bites dipped in chipotle ranch and a sampler plate of meats. Everything was great.
Good food in a great location. My wife had the brisket Reuben and I had the pulled pork salad. Great selection of beers and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.
Excellent BBQ, best ribs Ive ever had at a restaurant! Great service, Peter and his son Nick are great hosts. Wish you best of luck at your new location.
The bbq combo platter is amazing, great flavors, best cold slaw and corn bread the best Ive ever had!! This family knows this business!! Great wait staff too!!
Tried to have dinner here a couple weeks ago. We were seated right away but never had a server come to our table, which was odd because it was not at all busy. We finally just left. The hostess watched us leave without saying a word.
I know most people visit for the smoked meats, but if you’re a fan of Greek salads, Ginopolis has the best chopped Greek I’ve ever had!
Im not really sure what they think that barbecue is but whatever they do that is not barbecue. Food was cold, brisket was horrible. Took our food back and it still came back not good. First time I ate there it was amazing. I dont know what corners are trying to cut but I will never be spending any money there again.
Large portions, friendly staff, and it was reasonably priced. The Cowboy Cobb salad was phenomenal ! In addition, it was nice to see the owner helping with serving and mingling with customers.
When youre charging $20 + for a plate of bbq you should be putting out a better product. Disappointedly mostly with the sides, Mac and cheese was noodles with a few bits of cheese melted on top.
Walked in for lunch, sat at the bar, no service, bathrooms were disgusting. Health department needs to stop by here. Walked out and went to the Cozy instead. Only two people working, must had been the families day off. Will not be coming back as a first impression is priceless.
Great food, good beers on tap and a decent 911 sauce that was not to painful on the mouth but definitely made me sweat after a bit. Great service, food came out fast!
Great food and a very friendly atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and the bill was fair. This place is very clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this place to others. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
Just had another amazing meal at Ginopilis.Owner is awesome, staff is great, food fantastic. Ive tried something new everytime and always happy. Today the ribs and tater tots were redonkulous.
Very happy with my first experience ordered the Barnyard and carried out , loved that it wasn’t over smoked and you could taste the flavors of the meat and rub instead of just a smoky flavor. I dabble in BBQ myself and wish they would give a whirl on whole slab short ribs , never be as good as mine but would be nice to see haha ! Max Junk Removal in Brighton is thumbs up on this joint !
Most definitely the best BBQ I have ever had. Staff are so nice, VERY clean. This place is AMAZING would very very much recommend.
Good food! Owner was there and came to our table to introduce himself and was checking on all the guests! Great addition to downtown Brighton area! BBQ was very good!
The food here is excellent and the staff is wonderful! The owner is always there checking on the guests which says a lot about the business. Highly recommend this restaurant 😊
How can a person go wrong with many restaurant faces owning the place. Wirh many generations in the business. 👍 Great Food.
Excellent food. Our waiter was friendly and informative. Nice low-key atmosphere was well suited for conversation.
Two more members of the clean plate club! Can confirm that the food here is amazing. Just dont bring your vegetarian buddies.
Every time we go here it is a great experience! The food is always great and you always see the owner wandering around checking in with you and making sure you are enjoying yourself! Would definitely recommend!
Lisa and I had a fantastic experience at Ginopolis Bar-BQ Smokehouse! The meal was way beyond our expectations! It was great to reconnect with Chad! Great cook but a better person! Thank you as alway for a great meal Chad! Love Chad and all the Ginopolis family! Get well soon Pete! Be back soon! 5 stars and more! Highly recommend ❤
We all ordered the grilled chicken greek salad. Waitstaff was attentive, and owner came by the table several times. Very loud in there but would definitely go back.
Great food, great ambiance. Parking was a bit difficult due to the construction, but manageable. Look forward to visiting again!
Peter, the manager, and Scott, our waiter, were great. Food was delicious and we got live entertainment. A positive end to a trying day!
We took our friends from Grand Rapids. Everyone loved their food. The BBQ chicken was delicious. Service and atmosphere was spot on. Well be back!
Amazing creation with the Brisket Reuben! Smoked sausage also excellent! Service with a smile and a clean restaurant, I will be back soon. Next time with photos
Great food. The staff is still working out the kinks, but, thats expected with a newly opened restaurant. The owner is very friendly and made sure we were taken care of.
Busy restaurant , first time there I had the fish and chips yummy, George had the jumbo shrimp 🍤😋 We will go again ! The server was wonderful and knew the menu ! I wish I could remember hes name 😔 shame on me ...
Fantastic food and service. Best ribs Ive had in a very long time. Falling off the bone and juicy. Bourbon slushie is dangerously tasty.
Great food, amazing bbq! Atmosphere is upbeat and plesant. Owner stopped by the table to check on us. Wonderful service, looking forward to dining again.
Wow! We shared a combo meal to try everything, and had leftovers! Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage, everything was delicious!
Pretty disappointing. We dine in Brighton all the time and Ginopolis does not measure up. Pretty pricey for the size of the entrees and who wants to eat out of a basket for those prices? Also, ordered a shot of bourbon and it was an additional $2 to have it on the rocks! This restaurant will never survive the competition in downtown Brighton.
Love this place. Food is amazing. Kids loved the treat with their meals. Beer was good. Will be back.
Another terrific restaurant in the Ginopolis tradition. Nice addition to Brighton. Great food. Attentive service. Pete and his family oversee everything.
First time we tried this establishment. Wow food was excellent, my husband and i split the barnyard witn beans and mac n cheese as a side. Plenty of food.. we will be back. Yum
During this quarantine time, we decided to place an online order with Ginopolis. There was an error during purchasing, so we thought that we placed the order too late. However, the order went through without my knowledge. Colleen was awesome and called us twice to check if we were coming to get our food. I did not checking my phone until about 8 and then realized that our food was ready. So I rushed over to grab it and they stayed open just for us.Thank you!
My husband and I had dinner here tonight. Ordered the barnyard combo. Everything was delish. Best ribs I’ve ever had!! Happy you are here in Brighton!!!
Awesome food. Gumbo was especially good. Family owned business. Owner greeted us personally. Need to check this place out if youre in brighton
Wonderful and friendly place. Great food and good tastes and awesome selection of drinks. Owner greets you as well and feels very wholesome. 10/10 recommend.
Cold tough brisket and ice cold pecan pie with no whip cream or ice cream on the side. All the mixed drinks were awful as well. Steer far from the $12 glass of lemon juice called Ginopolis 75!
Shot a round of golf at huntmoor golf club. The fellas and I were looking for some bbq and stumbled onto Ginopolis, what a great find. The brisket was to die for. Great food!!!
Best BBQ ever. Most tender meats, perfectly spiced. Great staff, very friendly. Very Happy customer!!
Lovely place with great food. Everyone made us feel very welcome, and cant wait to go back.
Okay BBQ, ribs were a bit over cooked. Brisket was good. A bit pricy for what you get, I would prefer Smoke House over in Milford.
Wait staff was excellent and food was as well. To our delight, Peter Ginopolis made the rounds for conversation and pictures, as he always did when he ran Ginopolis at 12 Mile and Middlebelt (Farmington Hills) for years.
We ordered take out and had a great experience. The food was great and the staff incredibly kind when I went in to grab the food. Will definitely be back!!
Awesome BBQ! The brisket is outrageously good. Both the dinner portion and the brisket sandwich. The only downside is that the restaurant is very loud.
Love this spot! The Briskett is die for. Chad is the man !! Thanks for putting our pic on your website! I just saw it. Im bringing in my family tonight to celebrate my sons 12 th birthday!! See yall tonight, keep up the great service. Thank you!
Fantastic food! Fallen off the bone ribs, tender brisket, no fat pulled pork. And Pete Ginopolis walks around to greet you. Gotta try it!
The service was good but the food was sub par. We ordered the burnt ends and it was more like stewed pork. Not sure that barbeque is their forte
Really good food, great staff. Prices are reasonable. Has a relax vibe.
Great food, great service, Ginopolis was clean good atmosphere friendly staff and the owner was very cool. Cant wait to go back! Oh and try the Brisket it was very delicious 😋
Delicious Mac and cheese along with corn bread. The owner is very nice making sure we were taken care of!
A servicable bbq joint. The prices were higher than expected for a bar with mid tier bbq, still it was far better than and Applebees or Chilis.
I had the Pit Boss and Gumbo. Both were great!! Will definitely visit again!
Really liked the bbq combos Ginopolis had. Hope they keep serving some of it when it reopens as cowgirls.
If you haven’t been here yet, you need to GO! Food is amazing and Melissa and Pete are fabulous! Great brisket, sweet potatoes and service.
Pete and his family are always outstanding with a capital O Every visit has been better than the last. Thanks to you and your whole family and staff for everything.
Food was excellent. Service fast and friendly. Owner personally went around and greeted all the customers asked how the food and service was. Great atmosphere
Love the fried chicken. Its always really cold inside but dress for the freeze. The food is worth it
Good food and good service. Good menu selections. Enjoyed our dinner with party of 5. Plenty of room.
Very good dinner. Brisket, chicken and sides were excellent. Thanks for making our Easter much better.
Outstanding service and the food is amazing. Especially the smoked wings and cornbread!! This is a MUST TRY for anyones foodie list!!
Delicious! The owner stopped by our table to chat and make sure we were having a great time, love that kind of service.
Excellent service and great food. Unfortunately, this place is closing after 40 yrs of business.
It was really good, the whole family enjoyed themselves and the food! Thank you for bringing good bbq to our area.
