$15 per person, I think it is a good price. However, the dance lesson dragged well over the time it was supposed to end and I didn’t really get to freestyle dance due to this. I understand things happen but starting 20 minutes later than expected seems a bit unprofessional to me, but that’s just me. If you plan on coming, don’t rush, otherwise, nice venue with good music (not wheelchair accessible).
Meh. I see what they’re trying to do but with lessons you gotta teach the step piece by piece and put it to the music as you go along, not towards the end. The lessons should be for one to two hours then DJ set. We ended up leaving cause the lessons were going on and on without the music for awhile. And they charge $15 to get in. Not really worth it, imo
This is my favorite place to go out in the Boston area. They are open almost everyday and it’s a great place to really hone your dance skills, make new friends, and see familiar faces. The classes are very accessible for all levels and they walk through a lot of great content. My only feedback would be to offer a discounted card-based membership for regulars. The cash-only cover is a bit high and I would be inclined to come more often if I was rewarded for my customer loyalty.
This place say Havana I was thinking more like Cuban, they dont put Cuban music 🎶 yes salsa but not enough also alot of bachata, Havana should be the Salsa with a good old fashioned beat 🪘🪘🪘🪘 it should be 80 percent salsa and 10 percent bachata and a little of merengue ...Cuba libre!!!!! The alcohol is very expensive, but going to Boston almost all bar are like that,no food...You do meet a lot of people.
Ive come here to celebrate birthday with a group and Ive come by myself. Its always such an amazing time. All levels of skill are welcome and everyone is super nice.
1 of MY FAVE Spots to always Latin Dance, in Boston. Always, plenty of good people to dance with and great people and instructors. Even BETTER and great Bartenders and Staff.
I think the Havana Club is really a good concept, learn salsa at a cheap price. My girl was Dominican so she did not have a lot of fun because they should have played a bit more dembo or bachata. However, she did have a great time so it was solid. 15 minutes solo dancing followed by partner dancing until its 10 or 10:30pm, after you can dance until the venue closes.I took out a star because you could ask a girl to dance but many people do bring their dates so as usual, many guys were just standing around. I used to be that guy who would just stand around as well so I feel for the many guys who did not get to really enjoy their night. Yeah honestly a dedicated partner is the way to go for this venue, there just isnt enough women to entertain the men. A lot of guys do come from the universities so there is a big younger crowd there. The drinks though were heavily priced, I did not appreciate that as well. Not worth it IMO, a shot was $13. Honestly its better to pregame before coming here but its still a fun time because the whole point is to dance rather than get drunk.
Its great place for salsa.. they charge$12 on Friday night to enter and it’s worth it.. bar is located inside with decent drink menu...they give 30-45 minutes lessons for beginners... crowd is nice and music is good.. staff is also nice.. single person entry is allowed and u can find people to dance with..
Im terrible at dancing, and I’m a VERY shy person, but the Saturday night dance lesson had me up and running pretty quickly! Some reviews would have you imagine that it’s absolutely hopeless if you don’t bring a partner, but they’re wrong. There are a lot of couples that keep to themselves, and the lead/follow situation is a bit chaotic, but everyone is so nice and willing to dance! There were some moments that I was by myself, but - instead of moping around and isolating myself on the edge - I (a scaring looking guy) was happily practicing the steps in the middle, so follows (girls) actively came up to me and asked if I needed a partner when the instructor said to switch. As long as you’re there to dance and have fun, you couldn’t possibly have a bad time. Will come back VERY soon and more often!
The best latin social dance spot (Salsa/Bachata) in the city. There is social dancing available almost every day of the week. Havana Mondays are something special because it is a really a night for dancers. There is social dancing 5 nights a week- Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues, Thurs. There are sometimes performance and good artists that make visits occasionally so those days are treats if you are in attendance. You do not need a partner if you go solo because the dance community is very friendly there. There is a cash bar if that is your thing, but those nights are only on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you going to have a drink at this place watch your cup, be careful, don’t leave your drink on the table to go to dance. I had a terrible experience last Thursday, ingenuous, someone put drugs in my drink while I was dancing. I got to the hospital really bad, I thought I was dying because of the intoxication symptoms caused by that.
Love the classes, teachers, dj’s , crowd and the vibe. Definitely the best place for socials in Boston!
Not sure why other reviews have mentioned needing a partner. Just ask a lady to dance! Plenty of people to dance with and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. The bouncer was nice and the bartenders were quick to make drinks but I showed up very late (12:40) so I think they were a bit checked out after a long night (?). Paid $15 for a black label with pineapple juice. Friendly/generous pour.I was happy to hear a variety of music. I was concerned that mostly salsa would be playing since I’m not great at salsa but plenty of bachata and cumbia played as well! Will definitely be returningForgot to mention $15 cash cover
Your bouncer caused bodily harm to guests there for not doing anything wrong and not resisting. Place should be shut down immediately. Brings absolute shame to the community of Cambridge for there actions.
I cant even think of the right word to describe this place. Two instructors are giving dance classes in the same room, which is quite confusing. You cant even dance with your partner because it gets so crowded that you keep bumping into people. There are only two bartenders for such a big crowd. We paid $15 to go in but couldnt enjoy the whole night dancing. Left around midnight.
I had a great time, the vibe was definitely it but the type of bachata they were putting on the dance floor wasn’t the best, would have loved to hear authentic dominican bachata (Anthony Santos, Raulin Rodriguez, Elvis Martinez etc…)
The dancing was great, great athmosohsre, and a lot of fun people. The lesson prior to the dancing was pretty bad. It was hard to hear what the instructors were saying. They would have you follow the choreography as they are performing said choreography. They would break down the dance moves.Super fun spot to go if you already know how to dance but I would skip the lesson.
I go somewhat regularly and its made me a much better dancer - still a long way to go. I saw another review complaining about the bouncer and the vaccine card policy. Every time I go, the bouncer gives me a big smile and thanks me for coming. Very nice person just like the rest of the staff. Ive never had a bad experience and I appreciate knowing everyone inside is vaccinated.
My partner and I went to the Saturday salsa + bachata dance lesson and after party. We enjoyed our night so much, and will definitely be back again soon. The instructors, music, and drinks were wonderful. Any dancer of all levels will enjoy it here. Btw, there is a coat and bag check there which is free
Friendly staff. Very friendly bouncer. Not beginner friendly. You DO NEED a partner for this place. Website clearly states no partner needed. You dance solo non beginner friendly báchata/salsa for 10-15 minutes which was fun. THEN you NEED a partner. One of the gentleman that came to learn solo, poor guy walked around for 10-15 minutes trying to find someone but obviously couldn’t SINCE YOU NEED A PARTNER.5 guys sitting alone on seats because they came alone with the intention to strictly learn. DO NOT COME IF you are single, or did not bring a friend… at least offer solo dancing if you’re going to state no partner needed. Waste of money. I’m not shy AT ALL, and social interactions I excel at. Frustrated since I paid 15 dollars to dance 15 minutes.Cute place for a date, or learning WITH A PARTNER. The beginner friendly dancing Is like expecting a 4 year old child to read a short 300 page novel...( I know how to get by with bachata) Manage your own expectations. I would’ve danced more beginner friendly bachata at a club or bar much more easily, and would’ve easily found a “partner” there.
Havana Club is one of the best places to dance bachata in Boston. I am a regular, and I really like the very spacious hardwood dance floor, the friendly atmosphere and people, and the wonderful music. Jeff makes a point in keeping the dancers safe. The staff shows strong professionalism and high integrity. Today, I lost my wedding band; Jeff and his wonderful staff made a real effort in finding my ring. I am extremely grateful that they found it and returned it to me on the same day. If you like latin dance, I highly recommend Havana Club!
I really like this place. I met some really abstract woman on a random park bench in Harvard square who invited me here and showed me the way to dance like a fiend here. I love how the atmosphere is extremely welcoming and the lesson at the beginning was very helpful for me. I love the experience of having a specific activity to practice in a social setting rather than just sitting around wasting away and drinking booze. Cool place! Thanks for all the salsa.
Seemed great if you already know how to dance, but if youre a beginner don’t bother. The lessons are awful if you don’t already know dances. Within the first 2 minutes they just started saying numbers without telling what’s going on. Half the people don’t know what’s happening and the instructors act like it should be common knowledge. If you don’t know how to dance and want to be embarrassed then this is your place.
Took a super fun and engaging Salsa/Bachata dance class here. Not much of a dancer myself, but the instructor does a great job of teaching the steps so anyone can follow along. Highly recommend for an exciting date night out!
This place very much impressed me!! I took a friend for a night out on monday and we had a blast! The employees were very attentive as far as seeing if we were having fun and feeling comfortable. We felt very safe and they definitely showed us a few moves. Free water which was awesome!! Good music and everyone who attended were extremely fun and inviting. You will definitely find a partner within minutes of arriving even if you come alone!
This is not your typical club! I loved learning how to dance salsa and bachata before we were allowed to dance however we wanted after the lessons, applying what we learned just an hour before. This is such a fun place to go on a Friday or Saturday night, I would highly recommend it.
Great place to dance, definitely would recommend it. Space is large but on the interior so there aren’t any windows. Stayed pretty cool on a hot day because of their large fans. Staff were nice and bathrooms were clean!
What a great enterprise! I have been coming here for more than 10 years, off and on, and as of last night, I am ON for Monday nights!! I went last night, and I am so impressed with the caliber of the mix and the dancers! I am rusty, still recovering from years of abstinence, and I will admit that I was in over my head! These folks, at the end of the evening, have known each other for years. So it was clubby that way. As it should be. And they made me most welcome. I intend to become a regular. It was so good. For me. I will plan to arrive before the lesson.Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are very different, and very good. And this is hosted by the Greek community, and they are very classy. Nothing fancy, and not a hint of crass commercialism. And another thing that I love about Havana Club is that they may play an occasional Reggeton, they dont make it endless, as I have encountered too many times.
Really enjoyed the night there. Very good, friendly and respectful community for dancing. I went by myself and I felt secure during all night long. I only will add more merengue to the playlist XD
Please be careful here. I am not sure if it was staff or another patron, but someone put something in my drink here last night. I am a 6 foot 270lb man, this can happen to anyone. I’m lucky my friends were there to take care of me, things could have been much worse.Edit after Owner Response:I am glad that, as an owner, you memorize each patron at the bar every night and your first instinct is to deflect rather than seeking more info. Sadly this is to be expected based off of the tone in other review responses. This is a disgusting problem rampant all over the city and I, as a bar owner, would be be focused on ensuring the safety of my patrons. Again, I am thankful that I was not alone, as my friends were able to make sure I got home safely, something I would not have been able to do on my own. As I said, this can happen to anyone at any time--go out in groups, and stay vigilant.
Strict vaccine card policy and rude bouncer who prides himself in turning people away.I presented an iPhone photo of my Passport (which has been accepted at ever bar I’ve gone to in Boston and Chicago…) and bouncer insisted that it was invalid.I offered to show him matching insurance cards, bank accounts, social media accounts etc. but he was insistent on that not being “valid” because of everyone’s “safety.”😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑 Really? He bragged how he “once sent a guy all the way back to Lowell.”When I asked to speak to anyone else inside, like a manager/owner, the answer was a hard no…Went home but didn’t end up going back because I was so turned off by this guy.I realize he was “just doing his job,” but why not accept this form of ID when EVERYWHERE else I’ve gone has accepted this? Any explanation? This was my first time going to visit here and my last time trying to visit here.I will Not be making a second attempt to visit.(Visited on 8/2/2022)
I absolutely love Havana club. It is one of my favorite places to go for Salsa/Bachata dancing, especially during the week. The staff is very friendly and check Covid vaccine cards for all people entering. The dancers are usually experienced, which makes dancing here so much more fun!
Far better than your typical nightclub. There’s really a great variety of skill levels and the beginner class at 9pm is great to go to if it’s you’re first time Latin dancing.
It is a great place to dance salsa. I went out two nights in a row. Never got rejected by any of the girls I asked out. My only advice would be that they should make it easier for women to get in. The male to female ratio was too high on Friday night. That means that they should allow ladies to get in for free until certain time of the night.
There was a guard, tall bald, very rude and unprofessional with customers last night. It was my first night in that club and the last.
The atmosphere looks great! Didnt get to experience it though because my husband and I didnt have proof of vaccination. Definitely bring it with you if you have it! We came all that way and couldnt come in :(
I hadnt been in a few years and it was even better than I remembered. The dance hall has been well-maintained and is beautiful. A large crowd of wonderful dancers of all abilities, from beginner to advanced. The instructors for the lessons are fun and put everyone at ease. No partner necessary. I love bachata and thought I would be excited to go to a salsa/bachata dance night, but I found that I would have preferred a higher ratio of salsa songs. At any rate, I stayed for hours and had a blast.
Great place on Mondays for bachata with a class at 8 pm for beginners and other one more advance! The weekends are more club style but still enjoyable for hard core dancers. The place gets hot so Dress with layers
Always a fun time, lots of good music, fun ambience. On weekends its a healthy mix of dancers and novices who are very willing to learn with new partners. On weekdays the dancing post lessons is primarily between other students, so you dont see the experts but most people end up dancing with new people in every song and gaining a lot of practice.
My go-to social dance venue in Cambridge/Boston area. Parking garage and bar next door. Music variety is better some nights than others. If you dont get there early on weekends you could be waiting in line to get in for an hour. Not recommended for people who dont salsa as this is a salsa club, not a normal club. Cash only admission and bar.
In my 10 years of salsa dancing, I have never had a salsa club owner call me back to talk about their events. This club has a great owner, great dance floor, excellent instructors, positive vibe, and bar... Its a treasure for the dancing community.
We celebrated a birthday here and Jeff was really helpful and responsive with everything. The crowd was friendly and fun. There were two lessons going on at once and that was a bit confusing but otherwise we had a great time.
Beginner friendly, great environment to dance with or without partner, also great to meet new people
This place is amazing. It is so much fun, and well worth the $12 to enter. I went with a friend and danced the entire evening, then I went back with the neighbor, and its very inviting. Its not like a typical pick up joint. The bartenders are excellent, and youre guaranteed to have a fantastic time!!!
There are only a few Latin places and Cambridge/Boston and by Latin I mean clubs were you can dance salsa, bachata and not only reggaeton. Here people come to dance or to learn. Theres a cover fee and the bar options are very limited.I believe classes start earlier and then it turns into a club. Very spacious so if youre learning you wont bump into other dancers.Bring comfy shoes and get ready to sweat it out — Latin style.
$15 cover to get in. Classes from 9-10pm and then it’s a regular dance floor. It was a big and mixed crowd which is fun. Definitely recommend if you want to learn some tricks in a low pressure place
Fun and ample space to dance to Latin rythims. Drinks are reasonably priced. It does fill up after 11 p.m. so come early if you want to avoid a line to enter.
Havana club is one of the best Salsa and Bachata venues in all of Boston offering dancing: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. The music selection varies by night. My personal favorite is Bachata Mondays.Wonderful for first time dancers with a club class offered most nights. Also fantastic for more advanced dancers, with most of the latin dance community visiting on one of the many nights.Come and enjoy!
They charged me $12 for one hour lesson which looked like a joke than dance lesson. One guy on the stage on distance tries to teach basic moves to over hundred people in the hall. I was on my own, no one to corrected my moves or anything, even how I was doing my moves was not noticed. Imagine how much you learn. I would earn much better by watching YouTube.False claims on their website. They say no partner required. Completely untrue. Everybody comes with a partner and the dance requires a partner. If you are going alone, youd better sit aside and just watch.
I have a medical exemption for the vax but couldnt get in. Vaxed people get & transmit Covid. I test every week but cant get in. No one wears a mask. I find this practice discriminatory, political & completely nonsensical. It would make more sense to me if masks were also required but yes I will absolutely respect your decisions and policies. I look forward to a time when none of this is necessary. Enjoy your day.
Havanna Club has some of the BEST salsa and bachata dancing in Boston! Come here to DANCE. The place is spacious, but not super atmospheric (kind of reminds me of my elementary school cafeteria with a stage). Drinks are inexpensive, people are super friendly. Cash only for entrance, but bar takes cards. If you want an epic night of Salsa/Bachata, Havanna Club is it.
A second home for Latin dancers in Boston. Welcoming to all levels.Yes, it gets hot in summer. But that’s part of the experience.Bachata Mondays all the way :)
Great place for Salsa and bachata. $12 cover charge, drinks are about $9 w/ $10 minimum. Lessons at 9pm on Friday and Saturday. Gender ratio is pretty good.
Best place in Boston for casual latin dancing on weekend and some weekdays. Usually full of people of various ethnic background and age, with apx 70% guys vs women. All nice and kind. Many regulars and studio ppl (students). Salsa mostly on 1 with few exceptions. There is a class (2 levels) to start with and get you going through the night. Music varies, sometimes more or less inspiring, mostly slasa, some bachata (depending on day of a week), little merenge/chacha/kizomba (kiz started recently).
A frequent mix of both regulars and noobs, and always a kind crowd. Its the perfect club for non cluby people. The instructors are competent and enthusiastic and its a fun element for sure.
Pretty good music; but it really is about 70% bachata. Not sure where to go for mostly salsa, but again I enjoyed. Friendly crowd
Great place to dance salsa and bachata. It can get very crowded on a Friday or Saturday night, so come early if you dont want to wait.
Had so much fun!!! Its a huge dance floor, with people of all ages. The drinks are fruity and taste good but weak. I loved every moment of it
Plain and simple for dancing salsa, merengue, and bachata. Drinks are cheap and get the job done. Honestly, for Cambridge its 4/5 but in other major cities this would be a 2/5 lol
Great salsa/bachata location for all skills levels, started with an intro section so newcomers can learn the basics, then you are set off to practice and dance the night away, great fun for a night out with friends
Make sure you check THEIR personal website. I was using Bostonsalsacentral.com and they advertised a social on Tuesdays and Thursdays but there isnt one. Its just a class those days.
The places is great, as a Caribbean who loves music I think the DJ is not good. He should play real Dominican music.
My mom was very proud of my salsa moves after going here. I wish she’s that excited about my career.
Love that place! Dj is awesome, music is great, dancers are very talented!Best place to dance salsa/bachata in Boston!!
Great place for latin dancing for beginners and experts alike. Nights start out with a lesson and break up into social dancing the whole night after
#great #vibes , late into da night means more spilled drinks n wetter dance floor ... #good #times #dimes
I loved dancing classes and social, I will back for sure.
The space is perfect. You can really dance and have a good time. People come to dance and party and that is rare in the city.
Friendly people, easy to follow and practical instructions to dance salsa, good prices, nice music! Strongly recommend!
Great atmosphere, dancing is VERY fun and everyone is genuinely looking to just dance and enjoy the night
Excellent lessons, after the lesson the dancers are typically very experienced. It can be intimidating as a new dancer.
My first time there and I like very cool and nice people
Fun. Great instruction. Decent pricing. Only a few creepballs the large majority are just fun and enjoy dancing.
Awesome place for latin dancing in Cambridge. But whats the deal with the pice? Too price for a college town
Nice but crowded, many different level are learning at the same time.Good experience, but will not go there every friday
Great place for latin dancing, however dont expect much in terms of ambiance.
What an amazing club! Great time, attended an after party here this past weekend and it was great, amazing staff and great drinks
Will revert back to five stars once the discriminatory and highly unnecessary vaccination policy is removed
Best place for salsa and bachata. Always a fun crowd of all levels.
Only cash. That sucks.
It’s one of the best place to learn Bachata and Salsa in Boston area.
Very fun place, nice owner and great club for dancing!
I WENT LAST NIGHT IS GOOD CLUB TO LEARN SALSA DANCE NICEPLACE TO HAVE FUN AND ENYOY THE NIGHT
Wonderful place, I recommend for everyone.
Air conditioning was busted in 80° weather and got turned away at the door because tank tops arent allowed. Ridiculous.
Nice atmosphere. They offer salsa lessons too.
Always fun. Great place to dance on weekends
No better place to learn how to salsa! Great teachers and a great community environment!
Great atmosphere and fun place to learn salsa/bachata
Great place to be if u r looking for fun and relax after some tiredful weak, thumbs,
As of last night, they have a discriminatory and unnecessary vaccine policy. 👎🏼👎🏼
Best location for salsa and bachata dancing in Boston.
Great place to dance salsa.. very impressing people that dance salsa
I’ve been to Havana. And this ain’t Havana. Fun though
Went on a Bachata monday, lesson & social. Fun experience
Great dance lessons and awesome drinks!
I enjoyed the Latin night there when I was in Boston
Great place, great people expensive sometimes, goo to enjoy with friens
Best place for salsa in Boston and the happiest people!
The best place to salsa in Boston :)
Great place to learn to dance bachata and salsa
Best Latin dance in Boston area.
Good place to practice your latin dancing skills
My favorite place to dance in Boston.
Great music and upscale, friendly clientele.
One of the best salsa social place to be
Cash only. Not very friendly vibe at the door.
Requires vaccine card to get in
Awesome ambience and great experience
Best place for salsa in the Boston area.
So fun!! Bachata lovers!
Great
Great bartenders :)
Always a good time ❤
Salsa sessions are fun!
Best place
Awesome dance place
Fun salsa and bachata
Unfriendly staff.
Great Music and Dancers
It is an excellent place to dance and have fun, but the bad smell of sweat becomes unpleasant as soon as you enter the club, it is very hot. They should look for an immediate solution, install air conditioning, air fresheners, since it has many followers.
I love it because you can dance freely and enjoy drinks at the same time
I liked it a lot before because it was more salsa on Fridays, but now its more bachata
Very good and fun place. Plus its not that expensive
Nice place, just missing some chairs😐
Bachata! Dip!
