Thursday night karaoke. Had a great time just watching. Service was quick. Seat yourself. Plenty of seating. Good and encouraging crowd. Sectioned building layout but allows for people to play darts, games, etc if they don’t want to partake in karaoke. Food was good and prices reasonable. We will be back.
I ordered from here on lunchdrop today. They don’t put your food in a bag, no silverware to eat with, got a scrap piece of chicken with nothing but fried feathers. No ranch for my salad and no blue cheese for my wings. For $20! UnbelievableResponse: Lunchdrop is a courier service. Drivers should not be packaging/bagging food. We order from restaurants at our office through Lunchdrop everyday. Never have I received food without a bag and my name written on the plate. There are two empty sections on the salad plate. Why not put the dressings there? I still wouldn’t have been able to eat it without a fork, but it was space for the dressings nonetheless. Also, why did the burned feather scraps even make it to a plate to be served?
We were a party of four that went here yesterday, they did not take us in because we had takeout from another place, we were okay with keeping our takeouts outside and sitting inside but they didnt let us, so we agreed to sit outside. The server was super sweet but we still didnt feel very welcomed. When they told us that they charge for water and we were already disappointed because of all that happened before this, we just left as there were other highly rated options around.Update after owners response:You can see why we left here, the owner was the one who made us feel unwelcome, and now he openly proves himself with his reply. I honestly feel bad for the server there, she was so apologetic because of how he treated us.And its not just this single review that has a reply like this, I read multiple single star reviews where the owner bashes his customers because he cant take constructive criticism. Also, they probably charge their customers for water because of multiple sanitation complaints about pests (read other reviews to verify).Im grateful we dodged a bullet by not eating here.If you are in this area and are looking for better options, I highly recommend MacGregor Draft House, the service and food was excellent.
I recently stumbled upon the Back Then Bar and Grill and I have to say, it is definitely a hidden gem. This place has it all – from a variety of games like billiards and corn hole games, to multiple TVs to watch your favorite sports team, and not to mention, the delicious food and drinks. The staff at Back Then Bar and Grill are incredibly friendly and personable. They make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in the door. The bartender is a true mixologist, whipping up some of the best cocktails Ive had in a while. The menu has something for everyone. Whatever youre in the mood for, Back Then Bar and Grill has got you covered. The prices are also very reasonable, making it a perfect spot to hang out with friends.Overall, I highly recommend Back Then Bar and Grill. Its the perfect spot to unwind after work, catch up with friends, or watch a game. I know Ill definitely be coming back here again and again.
I went there for a girls night out on a Friday. It’s tucked in the back of the shopping center and there’s some outdoor picnic tables. It is a bar with loud music but it’s a fairly intimate venue which is nice. The atmosphere definitely has an older 1980s vibe as the name states. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We arrived early, but ended up staying for the band performing that night. We ate buffalo chicken dip, hamburger with sweet potato fries, salads and beverages. All of the food and drinks were good and accurate (no onions, dressing on the side).
This place has done a lot of upgrades since they opened. They have a ton of tvs and will be great for watching sports. They have a room with a free pool table and video slots with huge recliners. These two rooms are quieter than the main room and great to get away and chill. The main room is also where they have karaoke and dueling pianos. The food was really good too. We had a burger and the Steak Sami, both were delicious. I asked for mine to be low-carb, and they were very accommodating. I had to give 4 stars for service because the bartenders, although they were trying, were very inexperienced. I think they will get better. We will definitely be back for dueling piano night.
This place is hard to find since it is located at the very back end of the plaza where the building is NOT visible from the parking lot. Draft beer menu was great. I enjoyed the Mango Cart on tap, however, the food was subpar. We ordered the calamari for appetizers and the Fish & Chips - the fish had way too much breading on it and the chips were either super salty or had too much seasoning on them. Service and atmosphere was good but I dont think I would visit again.
Great place! Love the outdoor seating, the environment, and everything here! Staffs great, drinks are adequately prices, and foods gotten a lot better!Very motorcyclist friendly too! Its great that motorcycles can park close so they dont take all of the car parking away from other patrons. Eye candy for the people as well!
This is an awesome place to eat and listen to music! The food is absolutely amazing. I had the Buffalo Mac n cheese and the chicken was so tender I cut it with my fork. Service staff is friendly and courteous. The owner Tony makes his way to each table to make sure they are taken care of. Live bands on the weekends and different types entertainment during the week. Come check Back Then Bar and Grill out
Stopped in after a long drive later in the evening. Able to seat ourselves, we chose a table perfect for viewing the game on a huge tv.Greeted by friendly staff and also asked if we would like to participate in a music bingo. Haze was our server and made outstanding recommendations. Excellent portions of food, friendly staff, music was loud enough to enjoy but not so loud you needed to shout to hear others at the table. Even though we were simply traveling through, it is a place I want to come back to as a staple whenever I’m in the area again and would be someplace I could see myself coming to weekly if I lived closer.
I had the French dip sandwich (not on the menu yet) and my boyfriend had the build your own Mac bowl (he added pork but they accidentally gave him steak). Everything was delicious!!!! Tony & Larissa......the place is great!!! Keep doing what your doing!!!! The staff was great!!! Even our new waitress, Bri, was the bomb!!! Stayed for a live band!!! Had a great time!!!
The dueling piano show was a blast! The musicians are very talented and also very funny, quite a hoot! Both cocktails I had were good (blueberry bulleit and cucumber dream) and the food was good as well. Service was very attentive and everything came out quickly! The dueling piano shows are every Wednesday evening, and I’d highly recommend the show! They also do karaoke, trivia, and live music other nights of the week. I can also see it being a great place to come watch a game, lots of TVs, good drinks and food while watching, and cornhole, pool, and probably other games available as well.
Delicious food with an engaging and open atmosphere. Mid-week lunchtime is not too busy and service was pretty fast. The Coconut Shrimp w/ Sweet Habanero Dipping Sauce is on the Appetizer menu but makes a great entrée. Getting a single Brisket Taco on the side made for a more than filling meal. I dont recommend the guacamole as it tastes like a pre-processed version and has the typical plastic/preservative aftertaste. The Philly Steak Burger is a good serving size with tender meat and sautéed peppers and onions. It has enough cheese to keep everything together without overpowering the rest of the flavors. The fries are really good too.
Office received lunch drop orders and nothing was correct. People ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap - One only got bare lettuce in a tortilla without any chicken or croutons (as advertised). Another ordered the same thing and received four small cuts of chicken - NO dressing, croutons, or cheese. Mine was a joke sized chicken salad sandwich. Tried calling the store and no manager was even in house. 0/10 would not recommend ordering any sort of delivery from this place. Waste of money.
This was our first trip there. The food was great atmosphere and nice. Of the four adults, everyone was 100% satisfied with the food and our server. Jack did a nice job! I recommend the chicken dinner, two others, head burgers, and one fish taco all were great!
My husband just picked this place randomly on the way back home from the beach coming through Apex. I knew I liked this place as soon as I walked in. They were having line dancing lessons. The music was not loud, atmosphere was great. We had great service. I had wings and tater tots. The tots were cooked perfect. My husband had a cheeseburger and the Mac n cheese. Off the chart. The owner, Tony, mother came out and welcome us there and checked on us. The owner came out personally and spoke with us, not just for a few seconds but for about 10 minutes. A true downhome guy. He also has a restaurant in downtown Raleigh and building another restaurant in Wilson. Back then bar and grill is in Apex in Me Gregory downs. I will definitely go back.
Place is really nice and enjoy the times I go for karaoke. Service is always stellar. However, the last two times Id went and ordered the boneless wings, they were more like boneless nuggets. Definitely different than what Id had before. Not sure if you guys have a different supplier, but the difference is noticeable. That aside, going there has been one of the highlights of my week.
My friend Tom & I enjoyed another OUTSTANDING meal at Back Then last night. Given my love of seafood the chef suggested the fish sandwich. The crispy savory coating gave way to succulent fish. We threw some darts. The dart boards & lighting is the best Ive even used. A very talented band jammed some 80s tunes. The numerous flat screen showed the NBA Playoffs & more importantly the NHLs Stanley Cup Playoffs. What a night! Thank you for the outstanding service, meal, & memorable experience.See you @ Back Then!!!
I had such a wonderful time at back then bar and grill thanks to our drop dead gorgeous server Aline. Me and a couple of friends went for their karaoke night and we just had a great time enjoying delicious food paired with nicely made drinks. Will definitely be returning again. Thank you.
Travelling for work and this was nearby so I popped in for a quick drink. Which turned into all night. Total surprise at both the fun atmosphere, great service and engaged community of friendly customers! Really enjoyed myself.Special shout-out to Kirsten, who rocks the socks right off the dryer behind the bar. Great personality, welcoming and makes you feel like a local right off the bat.
We came here because of the high rating, not sure what happened. Ordered a few appetizers and they were horrible. Pretzel bites looked and tasted like they were three days old, shrimp were also inedible. French fries were ok but we had to send appetizers back uneaten. Wait staff was great though! Band was good too. Waitress said there was a new cook.
Took our entire family of 5 her (kids are 15, 11, and 7) spontaneously on a Tuesday night and had a great time! It happened to be Taco Tuesday as well as Music Bingo night, which the kids were really excited about. Service was great, plus the hamburger and truffle fries I had are in the top 5 of the best Ive ever had. Wasnt a big fan of the spicy margarita I got, but our waitress was quick to exchange it out for something else w/ out hesitation. The space itself is surprisingly large with a full bar, large dining room, dart boards, pool tables, and an elevated seating area with a handfull of leather, theater like armchairs. They also have numerous large screen TVs throughout, making it a great place to watch sports. Family friendly in the early evening, but might be geared towards an older crowd later in the night, we saw a few flyers for different events throughout the week, so no matter the day you come in, there will be something fun going on. Its definitely worth a night out with the family or friends!
Service was polite and prompt, but I wasnt expecting our servers nipple to be hanging out of his cutout shirt. LOL, that was just a bit weird. The whole place looked like it had seen better days and needed at the very least a good cleaning. No joke, my shoes stuck to the floor from the front door all the way back to the room where we were sat. That was unsettling.
Food was good overall. We ordered two bbq sandwiches and sweet potato fries. We ordered both of the sandwiches without coleslaw. When the food came out they both had slaw on them so the waitress took them back to the kitchen. About 10ish mins later she came back and we noticed after she’d walked away that the slaw had only been partially scraped off of our sandwiches. Nothing had been remade at all. Not a big deal just wanted to include it in the review. The main complaint I had is that a waitress (who was not our waitress, just a young lady walking around as the place was slow at the time) bent over with her very low cut top right in front of my fiancé, got in his face and asked “are we ready to order yet” didn’t look at or even acknowledge the other three people at the table.
Brought my team here for a work outing. Idk if there’s new management or what since my last visit, but everything was trash!! Tell me how do you BURN (like to the black) chicken tenders TWICE!? the egg rolls were nasty and burnt too. The only thing they didn’t burn was the chicken which wasn’t done and was rubbery. Management didn’t think any of our complaints were big deals as he had a smirk on his face the entire convo. They tried to give us our food at a discounted price!!! The inedible food!!! Close this place down or fire everyone because it’s just horrible, never again !
I came to eat with my wife and kids and we had a great time. The food was great the servers very professional and friendly. We also meet the owners and they were delightful. The atmosphere was very great as well. I strongly recommend back then bar and grill.
Sign said seat yourself so, I did. Not busy at all at 4PM on a Sunday. Had 2 servers walk right by me and never got asked for a drink order or anything, so I left. Came from out of town and this place was highly recommended. For what, Im not sure. Definitely not the service.
I had the best experience my first night here. The waitstaff worked so hard to serve everyone, even though it was shoulder to shoulder. Amazing vibes, amazing owners. Everyone made me feel at home the moment I stepped inside. The food is AMAZING. Truffle fries, chicken wings, live music. This place is one you dont want to miss out on. The full experience.
The owners Tony and Larissa were very friendly from the moment we came in. We enjoyed our time there, Tony is a trip and I loved everything about him and what he stood for. Cody you are a man of many hats an you wore them well, you were so sweet to us. Thank you so much for making our night very enjoyable. If you are looking for a spot that cares about everyone that comes and goes, and some great food, you should give them a try.
Stopped in for brunch. It took 45 minutes for our food to start coming out and I emphasize “start”when it did.. it was by the piece, fruit, 5 minutes later 2 sides, 10 minutes later omelettes, 5 minutes later of French toast that was burnt. Server was super nice and friendly. This is definitely not a place I would recommend for brunch
We had the best time for a social gathering! Our friend and my husband had a joint birthday celebration at BTBAG last night! Thirty of our friends used the small room in the back and had appetizers served. The space was perfect for our group with lots of seating and room to stand. Mike and Monte kept drinks in our hands all night…they were awesome! We had never had to wait and they were SO fun and friendly. All of our friends commented how good the food and service was. After a few hours of socializing we hopped on the dance floor and enjoyed the band. I don’t remember the last time I had so much fun!
Went for bike night. The boneless wings wings were probably some of the best Ive ever had. Everyone was super friendly and responsive especially for how packed it was. Will definitely visit again.
My wife and I went in yesterday (1/12/24) for the first time and it was awesome! Weve lived in Apex for over 26 years and this is by far the best bar weve been to. There are two bars, a dance floor, two other separate rooms that have dart boards, a pool table, and a mini-arcade. The place is spotless and features many TVs to watch sports. Our bartender, Shay, was superb and they have a great selection of adult beverages. We got the six bone-in wings and onions rings - both were fantastic! We got to meet the manager who was very friendly and obviously totally engaged and committed to the success of the restaurant!
Stopped for a quick bite and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Im not from around the area but if I ever find myself in Cary, N.C. again, Ill be sure to come back.
Dont go, if you do drink! We felt harassed. We arrived @ 8:15 on a Friday night to grab some dessert, we ordered a brownie sundae, 2 waters & 1 beer. They asked for a cc to hold and start tab, we said no were paying with cash... waitress was good, but apparently she was being told by owner/manager that wed have to give her a credit card to hold till we paid our tab... We ordered 1 more beer and paid cash right then, we hadnt even gotten 1/2 way through our dessert. Then, just 10 mins later the waitress came back and asked if we were going to have any more drinks (alcohol) if not, wed have to move, cause we were at a prime table for people who were going to watch band...we hadnt even finished the beers we had. We just cannot believe how they treated us and think they wanted to hold our credit card!!This was our first & last visit to Back Then Bar
Fun bar with great bands. The building is smaller so can get quite loud when there is a live band. Was not that impressed with the food. Buffalo Mac is not Mac and cheese as explained as there was no cheese. I will give them another shot to try their burgers which several have recommended. Wait staff are ok - not overly friendly but gets the job done.
What a great place. We went early (4pm), so there were not a lot of people there. Which was great. The place is really cool. Huge TVs everywhere. Theres a large stage that I read they have live music on the weekends. We want to come back and give that a try.The food was awesome! Im from Wisconsin and the cheese curds were authentic. They even served them with ranch and marinara sauce (although I would recommend the sauce be cold, not warm, but thats overly picky). My burger was great and the tots were crispy. My wife got the chicken tenders with sweet potato fries and they were also really good. They had a good beer selection and the service was great. Well definitely be back!
I cant say enough about Back Then Bar and Grill. One of our new fav spots, and we wanted to post to acknowledge the great food, spacious atmosphere, live music, dueling pianos, and friendly staff. Tony and Larissa have outdone themselves with this treasure. Although their chef-prepared menu offers a variety of tastes, wed recommend trying their Brazilian Burger with two or more cocktails when you visit.
Great place to go for people looking to meet 35-60 year olds. You might take that as negative, but for those who don’t like dating apps, this place is fantastic. You’re welcome! Staff is great as well.
Back then Bar is a newer spot with typical bar fare and tons of entertainment. The restaurant is a little hard to find. A number of sources pointed us to a different restaurant entirely. Park in the main lot in front and walk down the center of the complex to the back. This place has loads of entertainment. 10 massive TVs (amongst others) above the stage, an impressive array of dart boards, and a pool table. I got a burger, fries, and wings all of which were good. The fries reminded me of McDonalds fries which is a compliment! The servers were new but everyone was working hard and friendly. It wasnt very busy but our food still took quite a while to come out. We were interested in pool but its tucked in a back room that doesnt smell great. There are also some slot machines back there which are an odd choice.
Fantastic place, just opened up but the vibe is already outstanding. Props to the chef for the best stuffed mushrooms I think I have ever tasted, there is a little bit of heat to them that definitely makes them stand out from other stuffed mushrooms I’ve had elsewhere. Overall experience was a 10/10. Looking forward to what they do in the future, everyone should check them out!
Abby was a great bartender that catered to my needs. Would most definitely come backAlso Whitney did amazing job with bringing me a Dr P
My wife and I went there last night to experience the dueling pianos and have a little fun and good food. We weren’t disappointed! The wait staff is super attentive and nice - the food (mostly comfort foods) is really good and well presented - and the piano entertainment was super fun! If Wednesdays are this much fun we can only imagine how awesome their weekends are! We’ve also been there for lunch a few times. The food is consistently great! We won’t go to any other pub/bar/grill in the area!
This place is amazing! Came here on a date night thanks to offline and the food was delicious. The restaurant is very large and while it wasn’t too busy when we arrived (we were a bit early for a weekend night) by the time we were leaving the live band was setting up and the place was filling up. Right before we got up to leave one of the owners, Tony, was coming around to tables checking on everyone and ended up giving us a tour of the entire place. He is wonderful and afterwards we couldn’t stop talking about his amazing energy and planning to invite our friends to come back with us. I’m so glad I found out about to this place! (Thanks offline!)
We came out for some live music and enjoyed Nightshift who played a good variety, heard old fist pumping rock n roll, some pop country, and some dance tunes that got people out of their seats. Great time for this early 60s couple. I saw a good range of age groups enjoying themselves, not what I expected from a place called Back Then.
Back Then Bar and Grill is the best. Great atmosphere, food, and off the charts service. Always a great time and always some type of event going on. My only complaint is that they have stopped the Wednesday night dueling pianos. Otherwise, a wonderful spot to hang out. Make sure to ask for Medina, Carolee, or Stephanie. They are the very best!!
My friends and I tried this bar out for the first time on Wednesday, 11/1. The service was great, and the food was pretty good too. What makes this place so great is the atmosphere. We came on the Dueling Pianos night and it did not disappoint. The guys on stage were amazing and absolutely hilarious. It gave me a very “home-y” vibe. Will definitely be visiting again!
Everything will be fine as long as your plate has some food left and your glass is not empty. Otherwise the guy with the hat will let you know it’s time to leave the premises.
Great spot with friendly servers and bartenders. Food used to be always good but they lost that chef. Good drinks. Daily events are awesome. Shoutout to Tony, Shae, Mike, Monte, Billy, Matt, Carolee, and Elanie. They always make it a good time.
My only knock for 4 stars is the cover charge for when bands are playing. I came to eat but a band was playing so our group was hot with $5 cover. If you got a voucher or something I get it.... They want you to spend money ...... We did.....$80 for food and drinks for 2 people. Plus the $10 cover. Come on. But the burger is awesome, salads are great, love the classic shoestring French fries
My boyfriend and i go there almost every Thursday for karaoke night. The crowd is amazing and Aline is very accommodating!
Food was all delicious. Burgers cooked perfectly. Quick service and the bartender, while she was very busy the whole time, took great care of us. Nice interior space too with good dart boards and well kept pool tables.
We went to back then bar and grill for a Wednesday dueling piano show and we had an amazing time. There was a vast selection of reasonably priced tasty cocktails, draft beer, and wine. The food menu was large and the items we tried were all delicious. The show was a ton of fun to watch and musicians were incredibly talented across a variety of genres. Plenty of parking, lots of tables with great views, and very attentive friendly staff/owners.
Everything about the Back Then Bar and Grill is amazing. From the moment that our group walked in the door, we were welcomed with open arms. Our waitress Brie was warm and attentive. Tonys mom and dad were there, and they came over and said hi. We went on a Tuesday, so several of us had the Taco Tuesday special. Afterward, we met Tony and Larissa, and it felt like we were meeting some new friends. Next time I visit Cary, this will be a mandatory stop.
Overall a fun atmosphere, excellent food, and outstanding service. Specifically, the hamburgers and calamari we ordered were delicious and reasonably priced. The owners Tony and Larissa make their way around and spend time getting to know the customers and treat everyone like family. We went on a Wednesday night for the dueling piano show and had a blast. We will definitely be making this place a regular date night. With the added options of playing cornhole outside and a free pool table inside, I can also see this as being a fun place to bring friends and family.
My first visit to the Back and Bar Grill was nothing short of exceptional! The star of the evening was undoubtedly our server, Brie. Her outstanding service elevated the entire experience.Bries attentiveness was truly commendable. It felt like she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Having worked in the service industry myself, I understand the demands it can entail, especially with a large party. Brie effortlessly handled everything with a level of professionalism that was truly top-notch.If youre looking for a place where the service is exceptional and the atmosphere inviting, I wholeheartedly recommend the Back and Bar Grill. Ask for Brie – shes a gem! Youre guaranteed to have a memorable time. I cant wait to return!
The calamari was over fried. The truffle fries had nearly no season to them. The steak sando cant be called a steak anything for lack of steak. The fries were served under the fish in the fish and chips, so they were soggy from the excess grease. The fish was flaky and good. it could have been cooked a little longer. The Caesar side salad was the highlight of the meal sadly. Good atmosphere, plenty of TVs for sports and such. Dart boards are available to use. Staff was mostly friendly.
To be fair, I go there with a big group to play music bingo. But the managers know theres going to be a big group when they run the music bingo event. The service is terrible, and the food is decidedly mediocre. The last time, there was a piece of ceramic in my salad. Like a tiny piece of glass! What I will say is its a good place to go do karaoke or watch a game, if you dont mind bad food with bad service!
Good food, great atmosphere. Abby was an awesome bartender & the drinks were delicious. We will be back!
This place is definitely a hidden gem. The food and atmosphere were amazing. Our server ( sorry, forgot her name) was great and very attentive. She offered options so many options. Also, the owner, Tony, is one of the most friendliest, most genuine people that you will ever meet. I will most definitely be back. The calamari was superb 18 thumbs up. I would recommend this place to anyone.
At 8:30 pm we walked in for Diner and the Man at the door said $10.00 for cover to see the band I was not there to see the BAND I there for Food I’ll not be back We ask to eat outside on those new picnic tables
What a great place! Just got back from trivia taco Tuesday. Our first experience was one of the best I’ve ever had. Food and drinks excellent , so many things to do here , more TVs for viewing than I have ever seen- what a GREAT to spend viewing sports- inside or out. The owner has made this a destination to experience from state of the art dart boards , pool, dance floor ,etc. I promise you , you will enjoy your time here . The Waite staff is friendly and knowledgeable .This is one of Cary’s best kept secrets. I wish I had found this place sooner- we will be back.
Hospitality is top notch! Excellent service, friendly faces and cool vibe. Great food, served up with large portions. Recommend highly! Five stars
We are visiting the area tonight from Fayetteville. We had in the GPS a local bar, apparently in the area. Somehow, we ended up at this bar, and we are glad we did. We enjoyed talking with the owner, Tony, and the staff. They were absolutely amazing. We had a great time. We had plans for tomorrow but have decided to go back and hang out there for the day. It is an amazing atmosphere with the friendliest people. Leaving, we said we would definitely make a trip back up to hang out here. Thank you to everyone for being so nice. We enjoy great company and we found it there tonight. I cant wait to try the food tomorrow.
First visit. Staff was very welcoming. Brie was our server. She was super attentive and sweet. She provided excellent service! My wife and I split the American burger. Burger was very good. Our first visit will not be our last.
Ive gone here several times since they opened. The quality has continually declince since opened. Tonight was the worst since open. The food burger was very dry and the fries were overly salty. This place is not worth the price.
We are here at least 3 times a week and love the staff and food. Abby was our server tonight and we usually have Alini.
Absolutely amazing service from Dee!!! Food was fabulous as was the atmosphere. For sure coming back 😁
Back Then Bar hit it out of the park for this group of baseball players/parents. We recently came in after a long day of baseball and BTB was able to accommodate our group despite the off peak dinner time. Our server was super friendly, welcoming, and made for a pleasurable night. The food and menu were also exceptional. Our boys enjoyed the game room while we waited for our dinner. The owner stopped by after our dinner to check in and we all raved about the service and food. This is a must go to if you are staying in town. Great job Back Then Bar!
I have been going here since they opened earlier this year. I go with a group of friends and we all have a ball. They have the best bands in the area on Saturday and the staff is the best. I usually get something to eat and everything I have had is wonderful. The place is huge and there is room for the large crowd that seems to return week after week. They have adjoining rooms for a place to carry on a conversation or just play a game of pool. The crowd runs into all age ranges and there is someone for everybody. I highly recommend checking it out for a fun night on the town.
Food was average. They were out of multiple things (gluten free buns, macaroni and cheese) but the servers were really helpful trying to accommodate and did a great job. The tortilla wasn’t big enough for the quesadilla burger which was a bit odd.
For a place thats only been open for a couple of months, wow have they got it going with their food & service. Mozz sticks were really good, amazing burgers, and my wife really enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Our server was very personable and double checked everything. And was really cool that the owner Tony came by a couple of times to check on us and tell us about his plans. We even saw him talk with another table... they wanted to watch the US Womens Open on one of the ~20 Big Screen TVs and Tony happily obliged. We are looking forward to going back on Dueling Piano Nights (every Wednesday). Wonderful experience this evening.
This place is a MUST!! The food is AMAZING! Tony and his entire family are the most generous and kind hearted folks you’ll ever meet. They go around introducing themselves to everyone that have come in and make sure everyone is being taken care of! I was highly impressed with the entire place they have events EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!! Fun activities outside that anyone can enjoy!I will continue to bring my friends and family here!!
Very heavy, very good pub fare. The chicken tenders are almost half breasts per tender in size, and the garlic parm sauce is to die for.Service is prompt, and servers are chill. Worth going back there, esp if youre already doing stuff at the mall.
I love this place, mostly because I love to dance! The music, and the bands that play here on Fri/Sat nights, definitely make that easy for me! The staff are so friendly too. I have a bit of germ phobia, so, when I saw how clean the womens bathroom was at 11:00 pm, that really impressed me. I will definitely be back soon, bringing my 86yr old dad with me for lunch on Sunday...since they make the best veggie soup that I have ever tasted!
Went last night on a date and it happened to be trivia night which was really fun. Got to meet the owner and played some pool. Lots to do at one single location it’s a bar it’s a restaurant it’s obviously a live music joint sometimes too i would definitely go back. Also the sweet potato fries were banging.
Wow, I already cant wait to go back and introduce friends to this awesome place! This was my first dueling piano show and it was a blast. Our drinks were delicious, staff was friendly, food was fresh, atmosphere was fun, and entertainment was outstanding. I was impressed by musicians talent and how they engaged the audience.
First time coming here and it was great! The food was really good and the service was phenomenal. Aline was my waitress tonight and she was super nice and attentive. Definitely get the cheese curds with the marinara sauce. Super delicious! 10/10
Good comfort food menu. Enjoyed taco and burger on our first visit. Staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Cody made tasty skinny margaritas. So good that we came back the next day for dinner and dueling pianos. The entertainment was so much fun! They got the whole crowd involved, too.The owners enthusiastically shared their plans for the establishment. I love the philosophy about culture and people. We will be back.
We decided to try Back Then Bar and Grill for Sunday football. We saw that they had the NFL Package. There were plenty of TVs, food and service was amazing. Also very reasonably priced. I recommend people trying this place. This will be our new spot for Sunday.
There are many things I could speak about, but let’s start with the food. You wouldn’t think a ‘sports bar’ would offer such an array of choices. We have been several times now, and we’ve never been less than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. All of the waitresses are superb but we really like Bri. She is fast, attentive, she always in a great mood. That being said, all of the servers have always treated us amazingly. There is no better place to watch sports. I don’t know how many tv’s they have but I can easily say more than anywhere else in the triangle that I’ve ever seen. And to make it better, they are all huge TV’s. They have the full NFL, NHL, MLB, etc Ticket through Direct TV. We love that! The weekends are packed for their bands I’ve heard, but we have never been. All in all this place is definitely a favorite of ours and we will be back again soon!
Never knew this place was so close to me. The food was incredible! Was so surprised and pleased. Will be coming back- thanks Offline!
I went here for the first time last night with friends for music bingo. The food and drink were great, the service and staff were even better. Also it seems like they have something fun offered almost every night of the week. And, with the number of TVs hanging it should be a really fun spot once football season arrives. Ill definitely be going back.
I cant say enough about our experience here. I will start by saying the Brazilian Burger is AMAZING. I had never heard of that type of cheese but it is sooo good. Wish I had room for dessert because they have a banana pudding that is all homemade including the wafers. The people here are friendly, happy, and very attentive. Our waitress, I think her name was Kiersten, was on point. The owner and his wife both came to speak with us and were very genuine in their desire to provide us a great experience. It’s obvious they care for the business and their patrons. While I can’t come often because we are from Savannah Georgia, we will come every time we visit my family in Cary. I wish I could give them 10 Stars but I’ll settle for the 5 because that’s my only choice!
The food was actually very good for being a bar and our server was spot on with the refills and she was extremely pleasant.
I suffer from food allergies, so I called the restaurant before we left home. The hostess let me talk to the chef who said he would prepare a special dish for me. I had the steak bistro in olive oil sauce with mixed vegetables. It was delicious. The neat was so tender and the veggies had a great flavor. Plus I suffered no problems. Everyone had prompt service and the wait staff was very attentive. The restaurant also has a bar with an extensive menu. So come on over and try this little piece of cuisine heaven. Your taste buds will thank you.
Great food and fantastic staff. My wife has food allergies so trying new places can be a bit difficult. We called to ask about special dietary requests and we were immediately transferred to the cook (or possibly the owner) who answered all of my wifes questions. A much better experience than the other place she called that laughed at her on the phone. When we got there the waitress made sure to get all the requirements listed out just right for her food. When the food came out it was just as she requested. The owner came by to make sure everything was exactly right as well. All on a busy Friday night.Well definitely be back again. One thing, this is a new place so the signage outside is a bit hard to find. They are in the back of the area and not very visible from the parking area. When you get to the crosswalk they are back there.
Awesome food, service, and overall vibe! Love the laid back atmosphere and friendly folks-killer wings too! Thanks Tony!
Ordered a French dip. It was oily and messy.. The steak was tough and dry. The au jus sauce was very salty. I asked for another sauce but it came back diluted and lack of taste. I did not enjoy the food.
Such a hidden gem! I recently attended a Rockstar Connect Networking Event held by Eli Alcorn on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 and this was such an awesome location. The Back Then Bar and Grill has dueling pianos, a great beer selection and we had awesome service by Brie, our fantastic waitress, who was constantly checking on everyones needs.
Awesome atmosphere and great service. Abby is a Star-Tender!!! Well definitely be back soon
We went on a weekday - Loved the atmosphere! Service was great! I can only imagine how busy the place must be on weekends.
Good food, awesome environment. Live music and good drinks. Staff is courteous and they have a pool table in the back.
My husband and I have been to Plus piano bar in Raleigh several times... from going there, we learned the owner, Tony and his wife were opening a new place in Cary which happens to be very close to us. They have different themes during the week, from trivia to tacos to karaoke and live bands...we decided to go last Friday when I learned they were having a band thats 80s themed(our favorite type)... we made reservations to get good seats and went early to get a bite before... everything was delicious! Wait staff was friendly and on top of things. They have a great set up for dining, dancing and even a lounge area with a pool table ifyou choose. On our way out, we ran into Tony and spoke with him for a bit... such a great guy, hes definitely found his calling! Well definitely be back! And if youre ever in Raleigh, you have to check out Plus... such a talented group of guys!!!
Classy great local farm ingredients nc seafood great flavors and even better personalities. New spot to me and my group but we will be back. We cook a-lot so its hard to find food available that can compare to what we do for ourselves and this place was great!
New establishment within walking distance to our hotel. We grabbed a late lunch. I ordered the quesadilla burger with sweet potato fries. Both were fantastic! My fiancé ordered the turkey club and said the same. Portions were huge!Tanya was our server and offered helpful menu input, and was a pleasure to meet.If ever back in Cary, we would definitely return.
We went in, sat down and waited for someone to come give us a menu or bring us a drink or even speak to us. No one ever did so we left and went somewhere else.😪 After reading the owners response, Im glad we didnt stay. Instead of bashing your potential customers, why dont you address the problem you clearly have. We did read the sign and did seat ourselves. NO ONE CAME! I shouldnt have to get up and go to the bar to get service! There were like 6 other people in there. You werent too busy to look at your reviews and post such a scathing response. But were too busy to wait on our family. No problem for me. There are plenty of other places to eat. Just keep replying...instead of waiting on your customers.
We play in a dart league every Thursday night and our waitress Abbby and Alini are wonderful!!?
My friend and I came in here for a late lunch/brunch on Saturday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and told that we could sit anywhere, and we chose to sit at the bar. The bartender was amazing, very attentive, gave suggestions, and poured a really nice drink! I was under the impression that this place was more of a brunch spot, but it was very empty for a Saturday.
Another restaurant that advertises in the Go.Play.Save coupon book just to get people to visit their business, but then do not accept the coupon. Ordered takeout and went to pick it up and was advised it can’t be used for takeout, even though it doesn’t say that like others do. Seems like a shady way to do business but it is becoming more and more common.
We went to Back Then Bar and Grill for the second time yesterday, and the food was great, AGAIN. We need this place to be there for a LONG time, so PLEASE check them out. In the two times we’ve been there since we found out about them, we, and those we were with, had the Touchdown [appetizer sampler] Platter, Coconut Shrimp, Fish and Chips [twice], BTBG Chicken sandwich [both Fried and Grilled], Quesadilla Burger, Grown-up Grilled Cheese, and Steak Sando. Everyone LOVED their entrees. The Tater Tots, Onion Rings, and Fries were very good as well. HOWEVER, the most surprisingand amazing item we had was the Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie; if there’s any remaining when you get there [ask] order it IMMEDIATELY so you are ensured of having it for dessert!!!We can’t wait to go “Back” to try other things on the menu, and another slice [or two] of the Peanut Butter Pie!!In addition, the service by everyone was terrific; you were made to feel like they really cared for your patronage. Thank you Alexis, and the others. The place is HUGE, with 50 TVs, Games [darts, pool], Trivia, Karaoke, and more., Theres a LONG bar, lots of room for big parties, and youre not back to back with others...Back Then is in MacGregor Village, 107 Edinburgh South Drive, #129, CaryThey are in the back, where Tony’s [Bourbon St.] Oyster Bar used to be, across from where Jimmy V’s Steakhouse used to be. Look it up, it is WELL worth the trip!! Maybe you’ll see us there…
Came for taco and trivia Tuesday and had a great experience! Quick service. Trivia was a lot of fun and the margaritas and tacos were delicious. The fish tacos were my fav. Highly recommend if you want to enjoy great food in a fun atmosphere. Will def come back!
This place is a hidden gem!!! I was in Cary for business and wanted a simple place to have a beer and some good food. This place delivered!! Tony the owner greeted me as soon as I walked in, he was so polite and energetic making good conversation. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and simple. Friday nights the have live music which was a bonus! I will definitely be back next time in in Cary, NC.
The owner Tony and his beautiful wife and lovely staff were very friendly and accommodating. I have never been to this kind of event and didn’t know much of music but I had a ball. It was truly truly a perfect relaxing fun experience. I had the cucumber core and the blueberry buliet as my drinks and loved them both. The cucumber was refreshing and the the blueberry one was very very strong which kind of drowned out the blueberry purée and cinnamon. My friend had the Back Then Old Fashioned (Usually my drink of choice) and it was also very good but a bit sweet, possibly from the cherry in bottom. Her other drink I cannot remember name of but it was also very tasty with very fruity notes. For entrees we had quesadilla burger medium rare with onion rings and cajun shrimp pasta. The cream sauce for the pasta seemed a little bland which with the full flavor of Parmesan you would expect more especially since sauce doesn’t penetrate cavatappi noodles well. The shrimp however were seasoned to perfection and very flavorful. The quesadilla burger was very tasty and the onion rings were great as well. Theres multiple other onsite activities of cornhole, pool, darts, and more. The restrooms are individual open gender toilets and are pretty clean for a bar. Overall I had a great time and would definitely return and try more things.
What a fun place. Walked right in, got seated immediately, great view of the band, and OveRDUb is a GREAT band. Food was delicious, service immediate with such an attentive wait staff....unbelievably friendly and helpful. And the facility itself, cannot say enough. Will definitely be back there frequently!!
Really unique place! Food was pretty solid, staff were very nice, and they have tons of dartboards which was pretty cool.
I had the pleasure of hosting a Rockstar Connect Networking Event on November 8, 2023 at Back Then Bar and Grill. The event was nothing short of amazing and look forward to hosting more events at this location.A special shoutout to Brie, our fantastic waitress, whose service was nothing short of stellar. Her dedication and welcoming demeanor added an extra layer of warmth to the event.
This restaurant is one of my favorite spots in Cary. The food is really good. My family really enjoys Taco Tuesdays. The establishment is open pretty late and the weekend until 2 am. On some nights, they offer kareoke with a great stage and lights. They offer and trivia night, too. On Friday and Saturday nights, they have live bands and dancing with a great DJ in between sets to keep the fun and excitement going. Theres a billiard room in the back room. On the other side, in the back, you can play darts. Additionally, there is a cozy area with comfortable reclining lounge chairs to hang out with your friend into the wee hours of the night. The ladies room is clean, organized, and stocked with dental floss piks and mouthwash. Its also a great place to host events. It is an all-inclusive environment with good vibes. I would have to say that because its a nightclub on weekend nights, the interior is somewhat darker and louder during those times. However, there is an outdoor area where you can talk and hang out, and play cornhole. I mean, you can always bring your food outside, weather permitting.
This is the best Bar and Grill, Thursday Night Karaoke I have ever been to in my life! People of ALL races were gathered and enjoying great food, customer service, freedom, expressions, and the overall environment of family oriented vibes. The energy in this place is hands down the best! The owners showed a genuine expression of love towards people in general. Their parents were there WOW, I said their parents were there, and YES, I called the MA & PA, because they made me feel like family. This is the place to go if you are looking for an amazing environment with no drama, only good vibes…
Under new ownership, and hes very involved. Greeting customers and super friendly. Food was great; cajun shrimp pasta and Buffalo pasta were both super tasty. Definitely worth a return on our next trip to Cary.
I was in the mood for a burger and am so glad I found this new place. The owner Tony and his wife are amiable and welcoming. The Jacked burger and tater tots were delicious and hit the spot.Theres plenty of room, tables, and TVs for your favorite sports. Ill be back!
Food was delicious and music was great. We had a blast. Great mixed age crowd.
Wings were pretty good and fairly priced everything else was priced high for a sports bar. Place was pretty slow for a Thursday night. Seems like a great place to watch sports. Pretty good selection of draft vs bottled beer.
Nice place to grab a bite to eat and drinks. Plenty of TV’s for sports and entertainment. Dancing is fun with a great variety of local bands
Delicious food and excellent service. Aline was my server and she was marvelous. She helped me decide on my food order. I went there Thursday night with my friends for karaoke and we all had a blast. Highly recommend this place.
It was very cold inside to the point of being uncomfortable. Owner was very polite. Bartender was very nice and server was attentive. Their drinks are too light on alcohol. The food was not good at all. Cold, tasteless burgers. A little tip: You have to season meat. Salad dressing so watered down it had little flavor. They had technical issues with the sound and made the same mistake which made an ear piercing pop 3 times within a few minutes. The dueling pianos just didnt have a fun feel. We came early to eat and then left dissatisfied after just a few songs.
Family owned, new business, very nice staff and the food was great. When we sat down the table was wobbly. The hostess noticed it and a few seconds later thre owner was at our table ( under our table) leveling the table. NO more wobble. My point is that they cared about ALL accepts of our dining experience. We had a great time! Thank you!
We had a very nice experience here. The owner was very friendly and engaged with our little one as well. The food was good. We both had speciality burgers-they were large and tasty. Atmosphere was good with lots of tvs. Not too loud which I liked. We’ll definitely be back.
I Love both locations .....Plus Dueling Pianos (Raleigh) and Back Then (Cary)....Back Then now has trivia, Karaoke dueling pianos and bands....best place in the area for a variety of entertainment options....Tony, the owner of both locations, is not only one of the singers/piano players, but is very hands on and approachable. I have been several times to both locations with dates and they are great venues.
I had a great time at this place that my friend and I kind of stumbled upon! The people were very nice and welcoming as well. I had never been to a spot that has dueling pianos and I had so much fun!!! I will definitely go back there!
First time. Stopped in around 1:00Not real bust. Menu looks great.Plenty of room. Barmaid explained that there is a lot of evening action, especially Thursday thro Sunday.Wish they had a table shuffleboard.Definitely going back.
Went in for lunch on Sunday. Took a while to get noticed at the bar and then took a while for food to come out. When food did arrive it was not as advertised. I got a steak sandwich and there was no garlic aioli on the sandwich. The bread was only half toasted, and the red peppers on the sandwich were charred on the outside, which I liked, but it was cold in the center. Bloody Mary was just V8 and light on alcohol with two olives. Not good. Bartender was nice but not a great experience. Has potential but needs some serious work.
Great place to pay with friends. Had dinner then stayed for the band. Food was great. Dance floor was packed.
Tons of fun for everyone in your family. They have endless monitors for watching sports, good food and great staff. Make sure to check out their dueling piano Wednesdays, by very talented musicians. I’ll be back over and over.
Awesome new bar and gril with great aesthetics, atmosphere, and staff. Our waiter was also the bartender and he was funny and very personable. I ordered the Korean wings for an appetizer. They were delicious with a little heat to them. The Brazilian burger was also very tasty.
Stopped in on a Wednesday night and was personally greeted by the owner. It’s so welcoming and an overall great experience. The food was amazing! We decided to stay for the dueling pianos. So fun!
The naw bar tender is awesome he made the best Black and TansAnd Damn dont he dress nice.Ok now to the good stuff. The food..I love tacos like no bodys business! Damn I love them, unfortunately I am so allergic to corn that I have to have blood transfusions!God bless they these tacos are on flour tortillas. 5$ each and small but mighty. I had three1st the brisket (Absolutely loved it)2nd the carnitas3rd the shrimp not as good as it could be. Still very goodMy Husband had buffalo wing platter and he loved it. (he went to Buffalo college) and is a bit of a hot wing snob! Lol!
Downtown look and feel, without the Downtown hassles. We ordered wings, wedge salad, cheese curds, and drinks. All very well done. Great staff too. And live music too! Been looking for a place to become a regular and this just might be it.
Looking for the best place for the perfect girls night? You found it! Back then karaoke night, on Thursdays, is exactly the place you need. Locally owned, you feel welcomed and ready to spend a fun night with your friends. 100% recommended. We will be back!
Maw was really nice made us feel welcomed. Never really received that type of customer service at a bar. Atmosphere was different than my usual but in a good way. Live band was great.
I went with my friends on Thursday for karaoke night. Its so much fun! The staff were friendly, the people were having a blast and even the owner got on the stage to sing. You should go!
Loved the wings and my server ( Abby ) was the best. I will definitely be back.
Rockstar Connect held etworking event here and everything was great. Brie, our server, never missed a beat. Brie was Joyfully Attentive to our 20+ party. Well done. We will be back.
Aline was incredible! She got all of our order correct and made sure we had everything we needed. Great personality! Will come back just for her.
Probably a great college football Saturday or pro football Sunday location. Lots of TVs. Food and service were both sub par on our visit though.
Ma , pa, drinks, food and the atmosphere here is incomparable . Whitney was my server and made sure everything was perfect and was so helpful when I was indecisive trying to order. Best place to go when you need to unwind after work!!!
Came in this Thursday night. It happened to be karaoke. Nice place with a good look , but the female bartender was rude and unpleasant. The other two male bartenders were nice but just left with a frown. Outside of that it’s was ok I guess. Descent food and drinks.
This place is awesome!! Food was delicious, music was great, staff was attentive and so nice! The owner Tony made it a point to come say hi and chat. We will 100% become regulars here. We’ve been looking for a place like this and so glad we found it!!
Here for opening night… the owners Tony and wife are super fabulous!!! Food was fresh and the best thing I liked about it was that these successful people that own other restaurants are still GENUINELY asking all customers opinions about their new place.. just getting excited for live music coming up… so far so good!! Congratulations guys! 😊❤️
One of the best spots in the Raleigh/Cary area to go for kareoke!!!
You guys have to hire a better bartenders I mean come on guys they didnt even know how to make certain drinks also maybe theyre just getting to know the ropes but still. I felt as though that I wanted to get behind there and start doing stuff. I mean if you guys are looking for help Id be happy to work for you guys seem like a pretty cool place great atmosphere
Beer is nice and cold and the food is good , nice place to stop while on a bike ride
The dueling piano show was great! The guys are so talented and interactive, we had an absolute blast. The food and drinks were great too!
Love the corner bar feel. Food was decent bar food, blueberry brandy drink was delicious.
Waited 45min for a Burger..That was completely wrong asked for extra cheese nore irdered extra patty none...this was after 45minsDONT WASTE YOUR TIME
We stopped for dinner on Saturday evening and had a lot of fun playing trivia. Food was a little slow to come out but very tasty, and service was great with both our waitress and the manager coming to our table to check on us and apologise for the delay.
Abbey, Kirsten, Whitney, Mike and Aline are best!!! Best karaoke bar!! Beat service!!!
Taco Tuesday, good tacos - wish they had more variations.Good service, love Amanda.A little dark inside, some brighter paint colors would make it better.
I’ve had Chicken Champagne before in New York but this one is over the top! Deliciously yummy! So glad I found this place! They have Karaoke night, DJ, Live music! This is the place you have to be!!
The food was excellent! Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was amazing. The owner actually came and introduced himself to us and was super nice and welcoming. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
Tony and the guys are awesome, they have something fun going on every night. We really enjoyed our drinks. Its a great spot to bring some friends and have a memorable night.
Great spot with yummy food, particularly loved the chicken tenders. Whitney was our server and was fantastic, very quick and attentive.
A great bar and restaurant The owner and servers are so nice and welcoming a great place to hang out refresh your day and attitude Great food. Open for lunch also. We would definitely go back!
The food was fabulous!! Can’t wait for the new additions to the menu. Our waitress was kind and attentive!! The band rocked!! We will be back next weekend!! Thank you!!!!
1 star because the chicken tenders were drenched in sauce vs dipping sauce on the side. And the bartender didnt warn me when I ordered them. Any other place in the usa, the sauce is on the side
We loved Whitney! She was so fun, knowledgeable, and prompt with drinks and food! She made the evening so fun! Can’t wait to come back
Great, fun place to have a good meal and good time. The dueling piano show was awesome! Owner is very charismatic. Youre guaranteed to have a good time.
Always so much fun! Great food, superb owners, and great staff. Please add the “Crystal’s Buffalo Chicken Salad” to the menu!!!
Enjoy the Food, Girls are Great Consistently checking if you need anything & Great Atmosphere 👍
First time there with my family. They were still setting up televisions on the inside, but the food was good and staff was very friendly. We will be back to for sure.
Watched a live band that was good. Wish there was more seating around the stage though.
Wow, what a great place and you wouldn’t believe the improvements they’re making to this place. The sound system is outrageous. Brie waited on us, what a sweetheart….,she was fantastic!
I had a work event , did not have the food, and my margaritas were very sour.. new drink receipe is needed. I did enjoy the event and the staff was nice .
Was supposed to be some networking B2B event, which nobody showed for. Great patty melt. Top notch service and good atmosphere.
Great spot. Everyone was welcoming. Only problem was band was too loud. Had to yell to our friends to talk. Turn the volume down just a little bit.
Walked in at 4pm on a Saturday. Not busy. sat for 10 min and was never greeted. Employees just hanging out. Sad as we really wanted to try the food
Tony the manager came by our table as soon as we were seated. And he stayed with us with incredibly attentive service until we departed 2 and a half hours later.
The atmosphere is very cool and the waitstaff was very friendly.
Tony, the owner, is the best in the game. He makes every atmosphere so fun and easy. Great to just stop into his places but also handles every special/private event so carefully, easy, and sucessful.
The food and service were good. IGreat place to watch the games.
This was such a great time!! came for a dueling piano night and had the time of my life. they were super interactive and the drinks were WELL made.
Tony had created a wonderful restaurant where anyone can find something to enjoy. He and his wife genuinely want everyone to leave happy.Alexis & Ryan
Food was great and top notch service! Live music was fantastic! Cant say enough about how welcome we felt! Thanks Tony!
Stop by on the way back home from a trip. We picked the place at random and was pleasantly surprised. Service , food, employees and even the owner and his Mom was great.
Brie was an incredible professional server. She had her eyes and awareness on all things. So on point!
Was Our First Visit and it Was Absolutely Awesome!! Tony and His Staff Were Great Food and Drinks and Services Were Great Definitely Will Be Back Soon!!
