I was growing my hair for a few months to try out a new barber and a new style. I ended up booking with Grace after reading a bunch of positive reviews about her and Emerson Joseph.She was very attentive, talked through the style I wanted, and did an amazing job, Ill absolutely be going back.The shop is really cool vibe, friendly staff, offering a drink when I got there, comfortable seating area, etc.

Visiting from out of town and needed a haircut and beard trim. The shop is beautiful and all the staff is very friendly. Everyone seemed very knowledgeable and professional. My stylist, Alex, was super nice and gave a great cut. He even gave me some recommendations for places to visit while I was in town. The prices were very reasonable for a full cut, beard trim, hand massage, shampoo, condition, and cold face treatment. The “first time package” is really nice. I’d definitely come back.

Alex Garcia was amazing! I came in to get cleaned up while attending a conference in town. Even though Alex was the lowest cost barber, I figured I’d give it a shot. I am so glad I did! He gave me the best haircut of my 40 year old life and the conversation was just as good. You should definitely not overlook Alex. He’s also a Navy veteran if you’re one to support our troops.I was very impressed with the whole experience. Great space, great vibes, and truly outstanding service. Next time I’m in Charlotte, coming here will be top on my to-do list without a doubt.

I visited Emerson Joseph for the first time last month and my experience was fantastic. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by reception and was offered a complimentary beverage, and was directed to the seating area for when my stylist was ready. (which was only a one-two minute wait)My hair was cut by Megan and she was fantastic. She was very focused when cutting and was extremely diligent; very precise and paid high attention to detail. I had also left a relatively lengthy explanation of what my goal was with my hair and Megan actually read it and developed a plan according to what I expressed. She also spent extra time trying to get everything right. She thanked me for my patience but I couldve stayed in her chair all day because it was such a pleasant experience!During my cut, Megan brought in a senior stylist (Taylor) when she felt like she could use some help/advice for a particularly difficult part of my hair to cut. To me, this speaks a lot about the level of quality Megan (and EJ) tries to uphold because she would rather ask for assistance than risk making an error.Finally, on price. If you are like me and are just beginning to explore more high-end barbershops/salons, the price makes sense because of the value of the services and the experience.For one, everyone at this establishment is a highly trained professional in terms of skill, knowledge, and customer service. When I first sat in Megans chair, she began studying my hair to see which way it grows, where it naturally parts, my hair thickness, etc.Second, on top of receiving a cut from very talented and professional stylists, I received a shampoo, a hot towel over my forehead/eyes, a face massage with a cooling moisturizer, a hand massage and had my nails buffed (thank you Cameron), and had my hair styled. Objectively, its good value. Emotionally, its also worth it because its a relaxing experience and having a good haircut makes you feel more put together, which is priceless.Ive gone back a few times since my first visit and I know I will miss EJ when I move!

I am really disappointed by this place. Over $130 with tip for a haircut and beard trim. Haircut was fine, but experience was mid. Used straight razor on back of neck but clippers on beard line? I’ve spent half as much other places for an experience twice as good. Neck line is crooked.

Lizzie is the absolute best! She cut my husbands hair for our wedding and I couldnt ask for anything more precise or perfect! She understood exactly what he wanted and executed it to the T. Shes also very kind and knowledgable but not pushy. If you are having issues with your hair styling wise she can definitely educate you on products or methods that will make you fall in love with your hair! She listens and makes sure she gives you exactly what you want! You cant find a barber as genuine or caring anywhere else! 10/10 definitely recommend!

I’ve been getting my hair cuts from Taylor for 2+ years now, and it’s top notch. I’m super OCD with my hair stylists and barber shops, so once my original stylist moved away I opted Emerson Joseph and chose Taylor Lewis and lucked up. The staff was very nice and friendly. The staff welcomed me as soon as I went in, they checked me in, and offered me a drink while I wait for my stylist to finish up with her other client. I didnt mind waiting since I was 10 minutes early. My stylist was a junior stylist who is still learning the ropes of being a hair stylist. She seems relatively new. Since this was my first time here and being a guinea pig for my stylist, I didnt really know what to expect. She started off by washing my hair, which was nice because it included a scalp massage. After getting my hair washed I told the stylist how I wanted my hair to be cut and styled. I also showed her a picture just so that we were on the same page. While my hair was getting cut, another staff member came to file my nails and gave me a hand massage. A nice addition. My hair stylist would ask the senior stylist and educator for advice from time to time, so the cut took a bit longer than I had expected. Overall, I am happy with my haircut and the service provided. I would definitely come back again and probably would prefer this place over shear excellence.

I came in months ago for the first time and got a head shave plus a face rejuvenation by Megan, needless to say I’ve been coming once a week ever since. The staff is very professional, offer of a beverage, library, and a pool table are some of what to expect upon arrival and throughout.

Being a full time, truck driver, athlete/superhero for my children and nieces I booked the stress release body massage package with RAQUEL 🙌. I typically go to Tru Rest Float Spa for stress release however after booking with Raquel and her Theru Gun session nothing beats her targeted approach to getting all the knots and tension out of my neck and back. Truly a game changer massage session to continue trucking and my grueling workout regimen.

Pretty sure this place is hiring womens hairdressers and trying to pass them off as barbers. They are different skillsets that require different training and equipment. I was paired with a lady who took three attempts to get a close shave on my undercut, eventually borrowing a shaver from another hairdresser that she didnt know how to use properly - and even then, the shave was only sort of close. (About as long as I would expect it to be after a few days of growth following a proper shave.) I could tell she was a hairdresser and not a barber because a qualified barber would die of embarrassment after a display like that. I cant imagine how someone who doesnt know how to shave hair got a job at a barber shop.This place tries to dazzle you with a lot of ritzy extras, but hand massages and beer in the waiting room dont count for much when you hire hair cutters who cant cut hair. I have gotten much more competent cuts at normal everyday barber shops - and those places dont charge an insulting price for their work. Save your money and go to a real barber.

What a nightmare that was. Never go here if you’re in a hurry. I stopped in for a haircut and beard trim. They charge me $154. No explanations. No prices given it was ridiculous . the length of time in the chair was exausting . She asked me if I wanted my lines cleaned up with a razor and I said yes. I did not know it was going to cost an extra $70 and an extra 45 minutes. At the end of the day I left stressed out, late, Taken advantage of and did not get what I asked for. The haircut wasn’t even right and I was ready to get up when I first started. to get a haircut and Beard trim was well over an hour. I literally had to get up out of the chair and leave. So awkward so over priced and the quality was not there.

Stopped in here while in Charlotte for business. Love the atmosphere and dedication to customer service. Breanna (the RMT) is definitely a hidden gem - highly recommend.

I showed up for my appointment, only to find out my stylist had left early because she did not feel well. I never got a call or text to update me. I found out when I walked in. I was insured that the price would be the same as what I paid before and everything would remain the same. Turns out they charged my card for $20 more than what I used to pay and claim their other stylist price went up after I brought it up. Once again, a big lack in communication on their end.

Best mens grooming in Charlotte! Ive been a member here over a year and use this place a lot. Ive had my hair cut by 4 different stylist and each one was incredible! The attention to detail by all the staff, especially my regular Perri, is world class. When you walk in you are greeted and offered a free drink. While you wait you get to watch sports or play pool. The chairs are super comfy. While getting your hair cut you get a free shoe shine and hand detail and the entire staff makes you feel very welcome. The bathrooms is like a spa too! Ive rented out the speakeasy a few times for private parties and its the best kept secret in Charlotte! Its a sure fire way to impress anyone! Ive been a member at a lot of private clubs and places like this and this is the only one Ive kept because the value is so high! I cant recommend this place enough...go, join, stop by...you want regret it!

My experience was amazing! Christina was super friendly and helpful setting up my appointment and getting me checked in. Mallory did a phenomenal job cutting my hair, took her time, and ensured my desired look was achieved. Mallory also went out of her way to inform me of the current promotions and due to her efforts I was able to book a massage at a special rate immediately following my cut. Lastly, Lindsay provided one of the better massages i have ever received. I only have amazing things to say about this gentlemen’s grooming business and encourage anyone staying or living in Charlotte to check it out. Excellent customer service and all around experience. I did 12 years in the Navy so getting a haircut was always a thoughtless process (just keep it short). I decided I wanted to try growing my hair and beard for the first time in my life and let them both go for about 6 months. I saw Taylor who, after a quick chat about what I wanted to do with the cut, got straight to work. I left feeling like a million bucks!

Wow, this was my first time and I went with Carla who I believe is the most senior stylist and I seriously can not put into words how amazed I was with everything. I got the full treatment. Shoes shine, haircut, hot towel and she was amazing. Quite honestly the best experience I’ve had in over my 40 years. Prices were phenomenal for what you get. First class service and first class quality. I’m opting for the speakeasy option as well. What a steal! See you all again soon!

I have to have someone that is experienced with curls and cow licks lol. I was placed with Ana. She had asked great questions about my hair and my concerns.She did a superb job the first and second time around! I couldnt ask for a better person and she has my vote of confidence!Emerson Joseph has great staff and environment. If you are on the fence about going here, just do it. I got my hair cut with Carly, and it was such a wonderful experience. I didn’t want to go to your average joe shmo barber because I had super long hair (my hair ran about halfway down my back before she cut it, now it’s much shorter) and I didn’t want to trust just anyone with it, since I needed it cut for my wedding (not just a simple buzz or something) in 10 days. I have 0 regrets and you won’t either. I will definitely be coming back for future appointments!

Yesterday I took my seven year old son on the train down to Charlotte just to have fun for the day. He decided he wanted a haircut ! He looked in the window at Emerson Joseph and he said it looked like a really cool place for a haircut so we went in. As I attempted to inquire about a haircut for my son with a young white female, our conversation was interrupted by an older white lady. She didn’t even look in the computer for an appointment to see it anything was available, she said they were all booked for the day and we may have better luck at a barbershop down the street which was a place called The Cut. The “down the street” she referred us too a barbershop. So I said ok no problem and proceeded to leave. Not sure if it’s her issue with our skin or if it’s Emerson Joseph’s, but it’s 2022 people! Get over it! I was willing to spend whatever it cost for my child to have an experience there! But I guess the white gentleman that came in after us made the cut.

I have been coming to EJ for a couple of years now and the service has always been exceptional. My most recent experience was the best yet and I have already booked my next appointment with Danielle, she is exceptional and I look much less like a wild animal thanks to her styling skills!

I’ve been going to Emerson & Joseph consistency now for two years or so. They are very welcoming upon arrival & so caring w/ the way they treat you, whether it be taking your coat, grabbing you an ice cold beer, or pouring you a nice, fresh water. The staff is most helpful w/ arraninging my appointments & recommending products for me to use after each cut. I have never left displeased, never looked in the mirror after my cut is done, and never walked far from the door w/out receiving a compliment. One day someone approached shortly after a cut w/ a business card complimenting it while saying they could do a better job for a lower price, even asking me what I paid. I thanked the man for the card, politely took it, and carried about my way. I get so much more than what they ring me up for. I go there knowing that I am cared about as a customer & leave w/o one worry guessing if I got a great haircut or not. That gentlemen never offered me that, and that is what I find most valuable. I don’t go there for the cut, I go there for the experience.

From first impressions with reception to shoe shine to sitting in the barber chair and every service in between, the customer service is impeccable. Personally, Brooke B is the best for my high maintenance needs.

I left early and couldn’t find parking. Was literally driving around to find a spot. I’m never late. I get there after walking several blocks sweating with a hurt back and happen to be 15 mins late. There wasn’t anyone waiting and my stylist was sweeping hair in the corner. These haircuts are like $100+ and I’ve started taking my son here. They turned me away when I got there because I was late, glad I didn’t pay for parking. For a place like this with so much overhead cost and having been hit hard by COVID, to turn me away for being late once (parking issues Uptown and construction) it’s pretty terrible service. I’ll never come back here. No need to waste my time parking, driving around uptown, walking to get there, and then paying $$ for a haircut. I was even planning to increase my membership there. Forget it! I’ll find a better place with better customer service.

Was never a customer here but I am a customer of Hayden Olivia Bridal just upstairs from this place. After an hour of traveling in the car to uptown I had to use the bathroom very badly and when I tried going upstairs to Hayden Olivia the elevator wasn’t working. So I went into this place, carrying my wedding dress and a huge tote bag with my other wedding stuff in it, and BEGGED to use their restroom. The front desk lady was SUPER rude and denied me help. Just thought it was very rude to make someone wander around uptown carrying a VERY heavy wedding dress trying to find a restroom when it could have been very easy to help me out. Very selfish staff here.

When I come in, they give great attention and customer service. My stylist delivers a great experience and seems genuine in her conversation with me during my visit. I just need them to have a good Bourbon for me next time. 😁

Upon entering, I was greeted and asked what was needed. After starting beard trim I was treated to a (Keurig) fresh cup of coffee while awaiting service. The coffee was barely cool enough to sip when a stylist called my name, brought my coffee to her station, and proceeded to trim the beard. When finished, she demonstrated some beard balm that was effective and smelled good. The cashier noted that I had a lot of walking ahead of me, and volunteered to hold the product for me, till it was convenient for me to pick up. VERY professional all around, and very reasonably priced.

Emerson joseph. I would give this place 2.5 out 5 stars.First, location. The location is good if you live/work downtown or in uptown. The parking is atrocious if you plan to go, at all. You’ll have to pray to the parking God(s) or walk a bit. Probably both. I get it though, location and demographic catering. Im just not a fan of the location and parking options (for this, no star).The staff; Almost all of them are friendly and polite. The front desk or appointment desk is right when you walk in and I was greeted promptly. I was offered a beverage of my choice and allowed to sit somewhere comfy while I waited. However, after I was given a drink and seated, I sat unattended for 20 minutes. No one, except the masseuse said hi to me. For this I say… improve on customer service especially if you are charging nearly $50 per cut. Now, my stylist was polite, apologized for the delay, and offered another drink. This salvaged the experience. This gains the first star. But how or when would a person getting shampooed and cut be able to consume the beverage? Just saying…The cut: my stylist was nice and she asked questions, gave information, feedback, advice, and was very proficient. I received the haircut I asked for and she was very skilled in doing so. Second star earned.The overall experience; hype. I am not sorry to say this, it is just hype. The full service cut does give you the following: shampoo, hand treatment (if you want), shoe shine (if you want), scalp massage, beverage of your choice, hangout space, good haircut, a “man’s lounge”, and appealing aesthetics. I mean overall you do get a decent amount for your buck (giving you that extra half star). But why should it cost so much and the customer service suffer so much? I have had better customer service at great clips. The hair cut is mediocre compared to others, but the service is better. I have been cut at some other local shops and they too are offering a better customer service experience.Personally, I would say that is not a place to go for the money saver, or for the person wanting a quick cut. You will be here a while, I wouldn’t expect great attention or service outside of the realm of a cut. It was basically hurry in and when you’re done get out. The vibe is very chauvinistic and lacked the heart and soul of what this place tries to offer. Don’t take my word for it completely, you might have a different experience. Will I go back, maybe. To be honest a big maybe. Again my stylist did a great job and that would be the only thing worth going back for, but not at the tune of $44 + tax and tip.

Excellent service and reasonable prices. This is a Mens Salon and it has it all from straight razor shaves to massages. The staff is friendly and skilled. The prices seem a bit high but considering its inside uptown, you dont have to go far and spend money and time to go out of your way, which saves you more money if you think about it.

I have never been so furious in my life. I went in to get my beard cleaned up. I was EXPLICIT on how I wanted it cut. This wasnt my first time getting it cut, but the first time here. Thought this was a high-end barbershop. It took me a year to grow it to exactly where I wanted it. I stopped her several times during the cut. She kept on whacked the whole goddamn thing off. Took it from 3 inches down to half an inch. If you want to play pool or drink a beer or see bimbos in short dresses, by all means hang out. You want a beard trim? RUN AWAY.

Kinda expensive for what you get. I’m pretty sure the stylist farted during my shave cause it smelled like rotten eggs all of a sudden. She was cute so I didn’t mind even though it did kill my relaxed mood. I might return in the future if I’m ever uptown and need a shave and a cut.

Horrible experience lol. A 10.00 dollar haircut for 39.00. This is the exact same thing as sports clips just less experienced gals. They even raised the tip on the way out. I asked her to put a 2.00 dollar tip on this crappy cut and she raised it up a dollar. Its just the principle. If you want a crappy cut for a high price please come to this place.

Ron Swanson is a man who demands all the bacon and eggs, and Ana is a woman who demands all the Google stars.
