Nice place if you like to be seen and/or have fun. No drama. Good vibes. Im an 80s baby, and the DJ definitely took me there🫡. Must visit if in town. There is a $20 cover charge, and 18% graduity is automatically included. But service was worth it. The male bartender was good . Very alert and attentive considering how crowded it het at one point.
The vibes are cool and the place is nice. The rooftop is a great addition but Ima little older so the night crowd aint for Auntie on Saturdays 😂 Id rather do a day party on Saturdays 🎉
I would recommend anywhere else in CLT but this place. I recently went here on June 29th and had the worst customer experience ever. Typical club that just wants to take your money. I beg you to go to Stats, Encore + more. Anywhere but Imperial, unless you want to be robbed and taken advantage of.
WOULD NOT recommend. Service was consistent but other than that I hated my experience. It was my birthday and I really wanted to enjoy myself but the atmosphere and music was old and lame and the prices are way too high. I got a section 2 bottles $900 and only had seats for 4 bodies. Will not be back !
3 of the bouncers ganged up on my brother and started attacking him then kicked him out. simply because they did not know he was apart of the group they had previously let in. which is fine but why are your employees putting their hands on their costumers aggressively in the first place??! we tried to call to get the footage from that night and unfortunately we were told there were no camerasDO NOT RECOMMEND
This is a must visit when in need of good vibes! We were a group of 14 experiencing a night on the town in a new city. We took the advice of a local and ended up on the rooftop for drinks and hookah. The service was great! Staff was extremely accommodating and attentive, not just to us, but to every guest there. They were definitely busy, and yet the staff took the time to check in as much as possible. Would definitely go again and recommend you try it as well!
Great vibe and decor. The rooftop was amazing, most of the staff was friendly. Only played trap music not my thing but seemed to fit majority of the people there. My biggest complaint is I purchased hookah, and told to set it on the speaker after the waitress had already sat it down on the giant table in the middle of the room because the other waitress said the table was reserved. Ive never been to an establishment that sold hookah but didnt have a safe place for you to smoke it; on top of the club being overly crowded a huge fire hazard all together. The drinks were expensive and gross, I tried two different drinks and they both tasted disgusting with very little alcohol in them.
Love this place! Especially the rooftop. Thursdays and Saturdays are the best. My only con is that lately theyve taken away the seating upstairs which is the whole reason I loved going. Great music and lounge/bar vibe to sit down and do hookah or have drinks and catch up, dance if you wanted. Started to become so packed and no seating more like a club which was a con for me. It may be a one off event though. They have huge moscow mules that are amazing and so fun to drink in a group!
Hookah girl was lit! Bartenders were really nice….but these WINGS whew!!! So good! They had lamb chops, wings and salmon and I’ll be back to try to the lamb and salmon. The wings taste so freaking good!!! 😋😋😋😋😋 overall nice spot. Forgot to say with each meal you get all the sides (3 to be exact). It’s worth it!!!
20 dollar cover for women and 30 dollar cover for men??…to hang with a bunch of college students in flip flops and tennis shoes…really?? I passed.
I just wanted to come on here and say that this is by far the BEST bar/lounge/club in Charlotte. You will not leave out disappointed. you’re instantly greeted by a few security as you walk up the stairs (they may look intimidating but are friendly.. as long as you follow direction). As you walk in, depending on the day of week and time, the downstairs may or may not be packed. There are sections but they do get reserved. Upstairs is a VIBE for sure. The only thing I will say is that you cannot bring down your hookah from upstairs to downstairs, i had to learn the hard way but nevertheless, we were accommodated.Staff is amazing, but jazzy jazz is AMAZING!!! We always look forward to seeing her behind the bar. This is for sure our go to spot every weekend. Ambience, service, drinks, HOOKAH… it’s all on point. Thank you!I will say, if you truly want to experience the whole nine, be prepared to spend some money.. if not, go to your local chain bar to drink.
I’ve always enjoyed going to places with highly skilled mixologists and this location is no exception. It was a pleasant surprise when the jazz ensemble performed right when the night started getting busy. The only distraction to the night was the apparent owner and his commercial flashing on the television over and over....the video flaunted his wealth and prestige and made me resent overpaying for my drinks!
The drinks are top notch, every flavor thoughtfully accounted for. The jazz is superb, full of that plugging rhythm that makes your whole body move. I could write poetry about this place. I cannot rate them highly enough. To me, is the crown of Charlotte. You just dont find this level of artistry anywhere anymore.
Nice atmosphere. Great rooftop partying
Oh yes the imperial, msn I remember the Latin nights and hop hop nights during the spring and summer time before corona. I be breaking it down on that rooftop and them women couldn’t take there eyes off me either. No matter if they were with there man or woman LGBTQ don’t got nothing on me baby Salaam Alaakum ✊🏾😎
It was decent, music could have been much better. My girls & I wanted to have a good fun night not listen to trap music the entire time. & when they finally played music “for the ladies” it was ice spice & sexy redd. Super wack. The drinks were also really pricy, 3 drinks for me & my two friends & we literally paid $50 so we left very sober. Was visiting from another state so that kind of price for 3 drinks was definitely a jump scare!
Imperial is dope I moved to Charlotte a year and a half ago from New York because my job relocated me here and this club is lit. The service is good and I always get a section every time I come here the only concern I have is No vegan food options and sometimes depending on the DJ they play the old south hits which is not bad but it kills the momentum.
My friends went in and I tried following behind only to be choked and beaten by bouncers. I will be pressing charges.
It was raining so I didnt get to enjoy the rooftop experience. (I was disappointed at that) No fault to the establishment.(Not a complaint) But the bartender was heavy handed with the Tequila and Im not used to that at lounges in downtown Charlotte.
Horrible place of business. Janky staff. Whole business is a rip off
Kee was our waitress and Christina the hookah girl really showed so much care for my bestfriend for her grad celebrations and I would recommend them for service 10/10
Visited on a Fri night. The atmosphere and live jazz band was fantastic. They played a mixture of classics and popular contemporary r&b covers. Patrons were a relatively diverse group (age/race). Only small complaint is that the decor and quality of cocktails left a lot to be desired, but I happened to get a seemingly young bartender that may not have had a lot of experience in mixing higher end cocktails. Would go again!
Very unprofessional. New rules in place that deny patrons entry if sandals/flip flops are worn no matter what you are actually wearing. These rules are not stated on their Instagram page. Sneakers, jeans, and other casual wear are allowed though.
Stopped in for quick drinks with friends, bartender is very personable, was proud to share a very special hickory smoked Old Fashioned. Amazing! Highly recommend it. Friend was very pleased with the Whiskey Mule also. Excellent music feed, will definitely return. Great hide-away spot after Queen City BBQ
There was no where to sit but, expect you to buy those expensive drinks. The bartender switch the price on my drink after turning down the 1st one for the same type of drink 😂 She did lower the price 🤷🏾♀️
For the mature adults that enjoy all types of music. Cozy little spot in a very convenient and busy part of town. Indoor seating is somewhat limited but inviting. Decent bar service. Outdoor area allows you to enjoy the skyline while dancing to some awesome music. Will again when in the area for sure. My new hideaway.
The venue was a little too nefarious for my taste.
Best Old-Fashioned Ive ever had. Bartenders really take their time making the drinks and are fun to watch. Bar has a great ambiance and bar staff. Really laid back and has a 1920s feel. 4 stars because speciality drinks are expensive and place is usually dead. I think they only get busy late at night.
The location wasnt bad. I had visited it years prior but under another name. The only bad thing I will mention is that the security allowed too many people into the section beside us which left us with hardly any space of our own.
I am floored that this place is not packed to the door with patrons. Their craft cocktails are better than the ones I have tried in even larger cities like Houston. The jazz band plays renditions of current top 40 songs as well as others and creates an unbeatable classy environment.
Was looking for more of a chill vibe speak easy spot and this was not exactly what we were expecting. The music on the main floor was so loud we couldnt hear so we relocated to roof bar. Much better! The cocktails were delicious...but they had a hard time getting our tabs right....double charged several of us.
We googled jazz lounge and The Imperial came up. I think cocktail bar is more appropriate than jazz lounge. The mood was more upbeat and energetic than we were looking for, but we enjoyed most of the music even though it seemed to be a DJ with a laptop and one live drummer who played well. Drinks were also good.
Really cool cocktail bar with average prices. Have not been here in warmer weather but think time on the rooftop deck would add to the experience. Had a couple of whiskey drinks and a tequila drink and everything was good.
I always enjoy coming to the Imperial for a good cocktail and the dark and swanky vibes. Live Jazz is great as well, only I wish there was a dance floor. It gets very loud so it’s hard to speak to anybody and there’s no room to dance. I recooked the Imperial Old Fashioned cocktail, but anything you get will be expertly made. Never have had to wait to get in.
I thought the drinks were OUTSTANDING! We had the Old Fashioned and it was as good as advertised. The service on the other hand was extremely slow and unpleasant. I actually felt unwanted. It was unfortunate BC I love checking out new spots in Charlotte, but not sure if well be back. There are other great old fashioneds in Charlotte. Overall, if youre looking for a great cocktail, definitely check it out. If youre looking for an awesome customer service experience to couple..this isnt your spot.
Nice vibes, Loved the first floor with bar and the live music from musicians on keys, drums, sax, and trumpet. Upstairs rooftop with bar and DJ, spinning more of a mix of Latin, & pop, a lot of hip/hop mixes with dance beats. Very slippery upstairs though, I even saw people poring bears on the floor, likely I had sneakers on so I couldnt imagine someone with heels on because I was slipping and even fell while dancing in my sneakers. But it was a fun time.
Good place for craft cocktails. The house old fashioned is on point. Live jazz band was playing on Saturday night. Saxophonist busted into a rousing rendition of purple rain. Good times, great vibe.
Was there for a day party 🥳🎉🎉 the vibe and crowd were real nice and chill, drinks were good
Came by on a jazz night and was really surprised at how cool the spot was. The crowd was pretty diverse of all ages and the vibe was great. The drinks were pretty unique and enjoyable and the service was great. Ill be back.
The Imperial was a nice chill spot before 11pm . The live jazz band was really good , as well as the DJ on the roof. The music selection was the best thing for me , the drinks were ok.I dont see the hype of the drinks ... my margarita was mediocre and the apple mule drink was good if you like apple cider. I did have one whiskey drink with a nicely prepped ice cube with an orange rind frozen to it , but my Hennessy XO I sipped at home beforehand was better . I felt the drinks were more show and sweet mixes compared to other bars and speak easys Ive visited.I have to agree with a few other reviews, the cleanliness of the ladies room is lacking , and I was disgusted with the sea of men leaving their restrooms without washing their hands at the community sinks in front of the bathrooms. Just think of all the nasty germs being spread. The bar staff werent pleasant or special... we actually had to wait for someone to come to the bar at 8:30 to help us. The website doesnt make sense , you can reserve tables but you dont get a call back or anyone at the bar knows what youre talking about .All in all I just see this place changing names and owners in a few years like all its predecessors ... people really dont care when they are drunk anyway , right ?Nothing special.
Strange place. Showed up Saturday night around midnight (says here it’s open until 2) and was told there was a private party by the doormen.. so it was $10?.. Surely if it’s private it’s private? Anyway, went in and there was no one inside, and upstairs was just weird. No jazz anywhere. Didn’t hang around or even have a drink.Edit: I’ve just read someone else’s review and it seems the “private party” is a theme... Just avoid the place.
Im not the usual drinker...as a matter of fact, I dont drink AT ALL. I walk into this brilliant place very parched and guess who made my day with a CranOrange [Cranberry juice and Orange juice ONLY] cocktail..? THESE IMPERIAL GUYS!!!This drink was on the rocks of course and it fully hydrated and energized my very positive day.HIGH FIVE!!
There is no venue in Charlotte that is doing craft cocktails like imperial. You pair that with some of the city’s most talented underground musicians, and the location and you realize this place is truly one of charlottes best spots. (Don’t tell the hipsters)
The craft cocktails are amazing - truly something unique. The live jazz on Saturday nights is really great, and the place has a really cool vibe.
One of the few places to enjoy Jazz in Charlotte. Small bar, but definitely worth having an old fashioned here. Very cool cocktail.
Relaxed vibe, with hand crafted drinks - even off menu! Live music and inclusive atmosphere! My wish is a light food menu. I’ll be back on my next trip to Charlotte.
I went there on a Friday evening. Its a pretty relaxed place. I had a Moscow Mule -- not the best Ive had, but definitely not bad! Id definitely go again.
Nice rooftop vibe...gets crowded so get there early! Drinks kinda expensive but overall, very nice vibe😎
Awesome live music. Friday night was the Harvey Cummings Band. Lively & diverse crowd. Creative drink menu, though my drink was a little weak.
Didnt eat, and the bartender didnt know how to make drinks, the size of the drinks were kid size.
Nice place looks very nice and very clean. But they have a little stream running next to it and is blocked by bushes. I would recommend them to cut the bushes and make seen itd be a good view.
Absolutely amazing jazz bar. Intimate environment on Friday & Saturday nights. Great rooftop patio w/ DJ. Amazing craft cocktails too.
I actually enjoy my time here. The DJ was great (it was Latin night), the drinks were well made too, never watered down. I’d recommend :)
Great service. Whitney was our bartender and was top tier! She made our night!
Good vibes! The rooftop lounge was nice and the crowd was pleasant!
The old senile big blueberry male bartender was garbage. Needs to be fired.
I had the old fashion and it was phenomenal! They way they made it was tops as well. Its a must go to place if you want high end service and cocktails.
Security will jump you, be careful they don’t play fair in this place
I love the vibes and the drinks Are the best In that area, Jaaz vibe and hip hop bands always perform Friday and Saturday nights too, but Latin Night is on Thursday
Intimate setting with great local talent. NO FOOD. Seating is scarce so get there early if you have more than two in your party.
This is the best club in Charlotte for real. Monday is underground LIT
Thought they served food. Very intimate seating. More a large room with a deck. We went to an establishment around the block and had an epic night. Too bad.
The imperial old fashioned is the best old fashioned Ive ever had. Well worth the price tag. The jazz band was phenomenal as well.
Great place, great vibe. A choice of sitting at a classy jazz like bar or partying on the terrace with a live DJ
The best old fashion in Charlotte. Solid jazz band that has phenomenal interpretations on todays music and classics.
Great place for a lowkey vibe. Bar tenders are great, DJ was random. A lot peoole were confused on musical selection.
I enjoy stopping by this place for drinks. Great service.
One of my favorite places in Charlotte! Highly recommend especially when the live Jazz music is playing.
Great drinks, handsome bartenders, Kenny, no longer has live music, but the dj was good.
I had the WORST experience here ever! It was my first and last and too bad because the atmosphere and crowd were nice but the service from the staff was beyond horrible! 3 thumbs down!
The wait was unbearable they had no people in the place but the wait was out crazy never again will I go there had to wait too long Plus it was nothing unordinary about the food and the cornbread was terrible I guess thats why it was so small they didnt want to make you punish didnt want to punish you any more than they had to with that cornbread
Very chill spot, great craft cocktails, and an amazing three piece house jazz band.
Live music inside, dance club on the roof. Deck area is a more quiet place to hang out.
Great staff and atmosphere. Plus great drinks and music to top it off! Favorite spot!
Fantastic service, great drinks, and the bartenders are excellent!! If you have not yried this place, you are missing life!!
Good vibe on fri/sat nights. Great drinks. Awesome atmosphere
Great place for night life. Live band. Roof Top R&B Hip Hop. And great drinks
By far the worst bar you could go to in CLT if you’re here please avoid this place like the plague
This is my new hang out spot. I love the people and atmosphere.
I really like the well diverse culture good music and I see my people enjoying a drinks I dont drink
Great place for cocktails. Enjoyed their Latin Thursday night!
Terrible service!! The hookah is disgusting and the management is terrible. I really cannot even believe the experience. I will not advice anyone to go here
Fun place to enjoy live jazz on the weekends. Prohibition themed, well made drinks.
Great cocktail fancy place. Try to knock out the beastly 166.50 oz mule for $65
One of my Favorite Original smoked Cocktail spots.Nice little Rooftop too
Awesome place for live music, good drinks, and a smooth atmosphere.
Great atmosphere, but please spray the rooftop. The sticky floor takes away from the experience.
Drinks were meh. Clever gimmicks for the sake of being clever. Tasted watered down and even came ¾ full.
The beer is a decent price...all other drinks are overpriced...$18 for a very small martini.
Saturdays are crazy and they need to reorganize this madness. Kills the vibe
Went in for the cheese board Wednesday thing and the bartender had no idea what we were talking about. Kind of disappointed the staff doesn’t know what’s going on. Maybe we’ll have to go back and try again.
Kind of a small place for the closed bar , but there is a roof top bar too which was good
Great house band and a good array of well made cocktails.
Fridays live Jazz..and drinks are so good. Casual environment.
Do not recommend . Overcharging & crowded as hell !
Excellent drink menu. Their old fashioned is top notch
Live jazz and interesting cocktails. You may even see a celebrity swing through to hear the music.
Unprofessional and terrible experience. First and last time for me.
Great atmosphere, great cocktails. Nothing like it in Charlotte.
Great music, safe ambiance. Healthy fun.
Great place! Great band! Definitely going back
Delicious cocktails, wonderful aptmosphere, and courteous bartenders.
Wonderful rooftop atmosphere. Good luckwhen it rains tho
I cant wait until you open again really miss dancing upstairs
Great drinks. Atmosphere is top notch.
Great music and atmosphere. Way too expensive.
Too crowded, could use more space.
Good Music + Great drinks = a fantastic time
Loved the music they play Thursday nights!
Nothing too exciting about this place. I went on a we can and it was pretty much empty
Great place and atmosphere. I will visit again when I am in Charlotte
The live band was slammin... CIAA weekend kickoff spot.
Cool vibes, good hookah!
Great drinks and outstanding jazz singer and players
Good vibe, good energy, good music.
Partied on the roof until it rained, and listened to live music downstairs - great night!
Sad, drove by and found out they closed last year... another covid victim :(
Small, but the rooftop lounge is a nice feature.
Cool atmosphere, a bit pricey for the budget conscious.
Very cool place to listen to jazz music.
Best spot for jazz and interesting cocktails.
This is a great place for a first date not to busy not to slow
One of the best bars in Charlotte for custom drinks
Lame. There was no band and the door man was low in spirits and no fun!
