OYO Hotel Columbia SC I-20I-26

UPDATE: it has been 2 WEEKS since I checked out and they HAVE NOT REFUNDED my deposit!! SCAM ALERT!!I was passing by Columbia and needed to stop by for one night so I picked this hotel for the price. I booked online through hotels.com for a king bed, no smoking room. It was pretty hard to find because the name is not actually OYO. They just bought Regency Inn and renovating but no sign on the road to tell you that. When I finally found it, I got told they only have doubles. I thought it was just one night so I was fine with it. I have been to many hotels so when I got to the room, I immediately check the bed and the restroom to make sure they’re clean. The beds seem fine but I found a live roach in the bathtub. The room also has a smoking smell lingering in the air. I was annoyed but at this point it was late and I was tired so I thought it’s alright for one night. I came home and 2 days later and I got about 15 insect bites all over my body (I suspect it’s bed bugs). Now I have to wash everything I brought with me and treat these bites. Save yourself, spend a little more money and do not stay there!

The hotel has new ownership and they working on the staffing and overhauling the rooms so I consider it a work in progress, but the staff makes up for it. They were super professional and did the best to make my stay as pleasant as possible. When I did have an issue they went above and beyond to rectify the situation. If I was in town again I would not hesitate one bit on staying here again.Ignore the current poor rating which was mostly when it was under previous ownership. This hotel is a budget diamond in the rough.

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Rooms look nothing like the pictures online. There are roaches in the rooms.. one of the rooms I was in had leaks under the sink and air conditioner. There is mold in the rooms. Homeless people sitting under the stairs. Its never quite. And they charged me $280 for the week plus $50 deposit on the room. I will never come back to this hotel again. I do not reccomend this place at all.Update: Ive been out of this place for a week now and i still havent recieved my $50 deposit.

When we arrived it was trash all around the building and we thought the building was abandoned the way it looked from the outside, there where crackheads outside of the hotel talking to themselves and I honestly did not feel safe or comfortable staying there so my mom decided to cancel the reservation. She called customer service and they told her they would refund the money in approximately 24-48hrs , it’s has now been 2 weeks and we still had not received a refund and they will be expecting a lawsuit.

I made a reservation and was a bit concerned when I pulled in. It looked like a bad quality motel. However, the gentleman at the desk was great and I was surprised by the room. It was clean, wifi was great quality, shower was hot, beds were comfortable. No complaints at all. Awesome price too!

Why do hotels have to hire new people with no customer service skills? And inconsistently enforce policies contrary to what they advertise? The website says a person can check in as early as 6am subject to availability. Of course now they have a new person who says No to hear the sound of the word come from her lips apparently. #obnoxious the review that follows is from earlier stays Excellent customer service. Hotel is becoming an Oyo. Great price through the Oyo app. New manager went out of his way to be accommodating. Room was great. Dominos wouldnt deliver pizza out of safety concerns. Hotel seemed totally safe to me. Dont expect much from the breakfast. Youll be disappointed. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again.

The rooms werent horrible. There were no bugs, and the floors were clean. But this was obviously a smoking room at one point. The body length mirror was broken and leaned against a wall. The bathroom door had a crack running through it from were someone possibly tried to bust through it. There was no WiFi at the hotel. The TV had HBO but it had a constant loud whining that made hearing it impossible. The ice machines didnt work either. We got a room with two beds and were given a room with only one but we made do. When we pulled up and saw the outside of the hotel, we honestly thought it was abandoned. There were rooms with boarded windows and ripped out ductwork and bathtubs under the staircases. The outside was bad, the room was okay. On the plus side, the pool was surprisingly good. It was very clean and had a seat that lowered disabled people into the pool. If you cant get in anywhere else, you can stay here and itll be okay.

You know what youre getting when you pick the cheapest place in town but this place is worse than you think it is. I paid for a booking through hotels.com and when I arrived they only had 3 rooms available, two of which didnt have working locks. (Think about that for a second, this super sketchy motel, and you cant even count on the locked door.) The third was being saved for someone else. The attendant said that she would refund my booking fee, but the owning company denied it. Trust me, theres places that are only a few dollars more a night that are so much better than this place. The sign on the pole says Regency Inn and Suites but the paper board sign inside the office says OYO. Just stay away, far away.

This place was a living nightmare, I feel like giving it one star is one star too many. They couldnt get us a room key because the machine was low on batteries so they said they would have to let us into our room every time we came and went. Once we got in our room we noticed immediately it smelled like smoke and there was a large stain on the bed spread. The smoke detector had been removed and there was a hole in the wall not related to the smoke detector. The washroom was like something out of a horror movie. The tub was grey with obvious stains and the toilet seat was yellow. I could list about a dozen more things that made my skin crawl but I think anyone still reading gets the point. DO NOT GO HERE.

Made a last minute reservation. Pulled up and was disappointed, old falling apart hotel, not even worth the $50 quoted for a night. Desk guy hinted I might not want to stay there. I assume he meant dangerous clientele or something,. I agreed to cancel and left and drove through the night for home. They still charged me for the room after cancellation. OYO will be burned in my brain forever as a hotel to avoid.

The hotel is not kept up. There was just one towel in our room, no toilet paper and no spindle for the roll anyway. Freezer part of fridge was iced over. Furniture was falling apart. A couple of roaches in the room. Bought our own tp and bug spray at Walmart. Have a feeling theres some shady people staying there. And did not get our room cleaned even once for a 3 night stay. Wont be going back as you can probably guess.

New ownership is fantastic. Whitney Cain took on the property - Has a beautiful Porsche out front and customer care is high. Knows what he is doing - rooms are being renovated with new paint and all new floors. If you need anything during your stay, ring the doorbell and he helps out right away!

Yes it is cheaper than some places but it is nasty af. There was weed n seeds in the night stand. There were people doing drug deals in the parking lot as my kids were getting into the room. My girlfriend and I were standing outside smoking a cig and there was a drug deal happening right below us. The whole place smelled of weed, there were liquor bottles and beer bottles everywhere, the lady that checked us in was rude. After being there for 10 mins i was ready to leave. I asked for a refund and the lady at the front wanted to put us in a different room. I was not staying there with my kids!!! It is not a family hotel. I would not recommend ANYONE staying there.

So I stayed at the regency a few months ago when the sweet blonde haired houskeeper was still working there the one married to the maintenance man she made sure I had everything I needed my room was clean and it was a good stay. So I came back again to stay hoping I would have the same experience. Now there is some lady having trouble cleaning the rooms due to her kids running around over the place while she barley can watch them and some old lady who stinks and looks like she is on drugs housekeeping. my room was not cleaned as well as what the blonde houskeeper does. She was a good housekeeper and without her there I will not be returning.

Worst motel ever. Infested with roaches, smells bad, no water in pool plus pictures must of been taken when they first opened the place, the pictures are not even close to what you get. I booked the room, NO REFUND $200 down the drain. Couldnt have my family there left within 30 minutes. I still feel the roaches crawling on my skin..yuk yuk yuk

Booked online with Hotels.com. Total waste of time. Arrived with confirmation number and rang bell at front window. After waiting I called the phone number on the door. Employee answers, I inform them of my reservation and confirmation number. Employee meets me at front window and says “We don’t have no rooms”. I replied that’s fine i have a reservation. Employee responded “I said we don’t have no rooms”. Waste of time and a little money dealing with OYO HOTEL COLUMBIA!! Had to go to another hotel and book a second room for the night, use different hotel

The hotel itself is okay for what it is, I love the room because they do make it feel like a home away from home. The rooms have a refrigerator and microwave plus a table and relaxing chair. Plus the rooms are affordable and the location is close to pretty much everything.

I have stayed here only 2 times. both times i had to have my room switched right after checkout. the first visit the beds had pee stains and smelled terrible. the room she gave us the next time was better but not by alot. the second time the electrical outlets looked like if we were to plug anything in a fire would occur. there were electrical wiring exposed right over the shower in the bathroom, i was scared to take a shower ! on top of all that we got locked in the bathroom for almost 30 minutes because the door wouldnt open! the wifi doesnt work. and yes, the onky good thibg is that they have smart TVS but they dont work ! the buildings look so bad. there are broken windowns and boarded up windows. doors have chipped paint and look as if they have been kicked in. the housekeeping looks like crack heads and the front lobby smells so BAD ! DO NOT STAY HERE ! american inn is right next door and probably the best on that entire road .

Needs to be shut down! They take advantage of people in desperate situations and dont even provide bare minimum in rooms. No PHONE! Microwave or refrigerator. The property is not at all as pictured and in deplorable conditions.

If your not open to surprises and disgusting experiences, do not!, and i repeat do not stay here. I walked in and seen 3 dead insects laying on the floor. Then the shower didnt work. I got in late so when i finally was able to dose off..i woke up to 2!!!!!! giant disgusting waterbugs crawling on my leg and toes. Freaked me out and grossed me completely. I immediately left the room pack my stuff up and asked the manager for a refund or discount. Older Indian man who refused me of any reimbursement and walked away when I asked for the number for corporate. Do not... I repeat... Do not stay here!!!

Absolutely disgusting. There were roaches everywhere and hair in the bathroom. Whoever reviewed this with more than 1 star is a coworker or owner of Regency Inn. The whole placed reeked of weed. Literally walked in the room, and then straight back to the front office to get a refund. The older indian gentlemen got extremely upset and practically yelled at me, and only offered me half my money back. DO NOT STAY HERE. THERES A 100% CHANCE YOU WILL CATCH A DISEASE.Lol and the owner argues in some broken form of English. You need to learn how to take care of your establishment as well as your customers. No wonder there wasnt anybody there.

Do no go near this place, they deserve NO STARS. The place was damp and musty, no towels, open ceiling lights, marks on the bathtub. Outside window was cracked and drafty. No security lock on the door and the janitor guy walked into the room without a knock. Stay away from this place NO STARS

The staff were friendly. The room was big and homely. It had a desk and couch. Also a refrigerator and microwave. The bed was comfy. I slept great.

I didnt even stay here the disarray in the outside scared me away. What a S@#$- Hole! Seriously if you dont want to be robbed and or murdered dont stay here. Front desk was locked up I coulnt even check in or talk to anybody.

I made this reservation through Travelocity at 3am the morning of the 20th of September 2018...I arrived at the property later than expected because the website said it was 84 miles away and turns out it was 220 miles away...so I got there at about 5:45 am so tired I could hardly tell you my name...I had been driving now for 15 hours...I pulled up front where there was a well dressed, very nice colored man being helped through a locked door, and a tiny hole to slide your info through...we spoke awhile during his wait...when James the Indian guy got to me , just a average white guy he unlocked the door and invited me into the indoor lounge...I should have left then, because I just witnessed a horrible case of racism right in front of my eyes...and I am very sorry I didn’t speak up... I forget the guys name but I send you my apologies!!! I proceeded to check in only because I couldn’t go a step more...I opened the room door and immediately the smell of must and smoke and past wet dog hit me in the face... I grabbed my pillow and dog blanket from the car and she and I laid on top of everything and was dead asleep in minutes... I also need to note that there was only one working light in the far back corner of the room, luckily I only had to urinate!!! I woke up sharply at 11:30 when my alarm went off... I had asked for a late check out of 12 vs 11...all he would offer even though I had checked in less than 6 hours before...okay so as soon as I woke I jumped up and drew the very nasty curtains back and the first thing I see are cockroaches running everywhere from the light... I immediately got my dog and things in the car...didn’t get to even wash my face , because as I looked more closely I was physically sickened......I will attach some pics and let them finish my story...and no , even showing the owner the pics he refused to refund even a portion of the full what turned out to be $135.51....and the only amount I approved was $90.51... I got charged $20 for the extra hour from 11 to 12 pm and then $15 more for a pet clean up fee!!! So here are the pics!

Pubic hair all over the bathroom. Roaches running around the floor. We tried to leave within 30 minutes and they refused us a refund. I would sleep under a bridge before I went back to this place.

They only getting one star because you have to rate. I booked two days in advance and when I showed up they didnt have a room for me and then lied to the booking company about my arrival time. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Was looking to a hotel with extented stay & after reading the owner responses 2 all the customers reviews & I MUST say that Im APPLAUD!!! I WILL NEVER STAY AT REGENCY INN & THEY DONT RENT 2 FROM NY SO I WILL MAKE SURE THAT NONE OF MY FAMILY & FRIENDS FONT STAY EITHER

I didnt stay and they promised a refund and refused it later. It is a hole in the wall. I am reporting them to the BBB. Do not stay here. You will be sorry. Garbage is everywhere and it smells like dead animals.

Good place to stay in Columbia.You dont have to worry about anything being stolen. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean. Safe place

Love this place. The housekeeper is the sweetest lady. Very kind and helpful. We have stayed there multiple times and will stay there again.

They provided a safe environment for my children and I during my transition to Columbia. All of the staff was professional, understanding and showed great hospitality.

Very nasty employee lady I told her I wanted to check the room to see if it was clean she told me no refunds and I told her if the room is not clean yes I am supposed to get a refund mind you I am a former housekeeper of 8 years a supervisor and head of housekeeper for four they are committing fraud and trying to keep peoples money

I think this place will grow bigger as long as they get people to work hard for them and promote there hotel alot more. But they hotels are nice. Up scale is in time.

My name is Ashley Thomas i use to live here yes the owner can be a lil mean at times but he means well hes wife is a sweetheart i stayed there months on end my room was always clean yes there was stuff in the back but they were remodeling at the time i know bc i was there i miss columbia sc and i miss this hotel i aint never see no roaches there either

My stay was fine. Older place but room seemed clean. Offered me parking for a 35’ trailer.

Good service/staff, and the rules are don’t break the tv or steal the microwave. Best hotel to go to for the price.

The prices for short and long stays beat out the rest. The perfect place to spend a short vacation or for contractors out of town looking for some place clean and affordable.
