I recently visited The Cuban with my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate International Women’s Day. We chose to go for brunch on a Saturday afternoon, as they offer brunch only on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 3 pm. The menu was impressive, and our waiter Justin recommended the Cuban steak and eggs, which my son and I ordered. My daughter-in-law opted for the Santa Clara healthy omelette. The portions were just right for one person, and we also shared the delicious Matanzas pancakes. One of the highlights of the brunch was the 90 minutes of drink refills included with the purchase of any entree, offering options like mimosa, Bloody Mary, or champagne punch. After a couple of drinks, we felt satisfied and content. The food was delicious, but I found the steak in my dish a little salty. Unfortunately, my daughter-in-law did not enjoy her drink. She also felt that the waiter did not come to our table as often as to other tables, which was a bit disappointing. However, the staff was generally very attentive. They were all dressed in black attire and black gloves, with the waiters wearing light hats and the waitresses in red or pink hats, adding a festive touch. The atmosphere was pleasant, with Spanish music playing at a comfortable volume, allowing us to hear each other talk. We noticed that some people were there to celebrate birthdays, and we could hear the staff performing a birthday song. Another plus was the plenty of free parking available. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back for more. I would give this place 4 out of 5 stars.
Celebrated my aunts birthday at this establishment. Everyone working there had smiles on their faces. Made me feel at home. Nice atmosphere. The food was great. I ordered the salmon very tasty. Will definitely go back. Kinda pricey though but worth it.
Amazing atmosphere. Best of all, the service and food were excellent!!!Whether date night, family outing, or a celebration, this is the place to go.From the second you touch the property, you feel like youre on vacation. From the antique vehicles parked at the entrance to the festive music playing in the background down to the staff singing the birthday song. Amazing. I definitely will be back.
We went on a Thursday night this time and the was plenty of seating options inside as well as outside. The food was outstanding, I ordered the Salmon and my wife a skirt steak with traditional Cuban side orders of plantains, rice and salad. The warm bread medallions and flavored Butter was amazing. Our waiter was prompt, very courteous and professional with a friendly personality. You will not be disappointed with your visit to this beautifully appointed Cuban restaurant with adornments inside and 1950s cars decorating outside parking spots.
Amazing gem in Nassau. Wow. I used to always pass by until I finally had time to stop. Service amazing, the stuff super friendly. Super on top of all clients. The place looks amazing. Cocktails are perfect, and the food is perfect. Wow. Forget about it. U must come to believe it. Thank you very much
Great place to bring family or to visit with friends. Theres a band and live music. Food is delicious, although not authentic Cuban abuela cuisine - still great. Prices are reasonable. Cocktails are well balanced and service is warm, friendly yet professional. I have been there a few times and will definitely go back.
We came to this restaurant on a weekday with a large party (5+) for an early dinner after a graduation ceremony. We loved the ambiance, the drinks were well-made and strong, the food was very good (well seasoned/prepared, decent portions): we had skirt steak, salmon, grilled octopus, chicken, and shrimp. The guacamole they bring to the table is extremely good (although maybe a tad pricey for guac). The service was fairly attentive in the beginning, and then sort of dropped off after the entrees. Even the desserts were good!Okay, so just remember not to get sticker shock when the bill comes! We easily blew $100/pp after gratuity (20% for parties of 6+) had been added. We were understanding of some of the factors that may contribute to this (its NY/Long Island, post-pandemic inflation, half our party eats fish/seafood only). Youre going to look again to see if Google said $$ or $$$....it should be more like $$$ now, but you will enjoy the splurge. Youve been warned! Prepare your pocket, take some beautiful photos, and create a wonderful experience here.
Weve been here twice so far, celebrating anniversary & birthdays. And we plan on coming back again soon! The service is great. The food is AMAZING- tastes delicious/flavorful, well-seasoned, not salty, not greasy, nice size portions, the presentation is beautiful. So far, we have enjoyed the ropa vieja, calamari, quesadilla Cubana, mariquitas, chicharrones de pollo, pollo sofrito, churrasco Cubano, salmon en miel limoncellos, The Cuban Pudin, & chocolate cake with banana ice cream. Weve also enjoyed their peach sangria pitcher & Willys Cuban mule (mango flavored). Theres been more, but I forget. Point being there has been nothing - food, drink, service, atmosphere - that we havent enjoyed! The first time we visited, it was midweek. The second was a Friday night when there was a live DJ and performers. It was so much fun! There were families there with kids who were enjoying the dance floor together. A LOT of people celebrating birthdays and others just enjoying the atmosphere. Plenty of picture opportunities. Inside and outside - the decor is AMAZING and authentic from the cars out front to the flags, wood, and tin ceiling accents within. And there are photographers to capture professional shots at additional costs.Well be back to try the brunch special next time. When you go ask for Jeffersons section. He was the best!!! Attentive, kind, informative (shared details about events so we could plan our next visit), and even surprised us with an anniversary song with his fellow staff. Thank you, Jefferson. And thanks Alex for making our reservation. Well be back!
This is a place you head to if youre ready for a party! Im not sure how the crowd is during the week, but this past Saturday night, pre July 4th holiday weekend, the place was hopping! We got there just in time before it filled up too much! The service was very good. Our waiter Oscar was attentive and friendly. The girl that made our guacamole was also very sweet even tho she didnt speak English. I know a bit of Spanish so we communicated just fine. There was a DJ that was very good. He played some very good Latin music 🎶 and everyone was rocking! Lol. The food was very good and the Red Sangria was pretty good also! 👍 Was practically impossible to have a conversation but it was a good time none the less.
This place definitely put thought into their decor for the Halloween season. Outside has decorations for you to take pictures and even outdoor seating! I did dine in and my waiter was Yeser, he was an excellent server. He made sure that my glass was always full of their delicious punch. Its unlimited with brunch and there are other beverages that are unlimited as well!!! I enjoyed their Cuban steak (medium well), eggs, and potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. My favorite part of the meal was the red sauce that you see in the picture. This place gives you family vibes and also date night vibes at the same time if you come later on in the day. Cant wait to go back with my family!
Nice quaint restaurant. The servers were super friendly and tending. I LOVED the guava drink. We enjoyed the pork chop dish, and just LOVED the Plato Illegal, which serves a variety of meats..delicious. The presentation was awesome, as it comes out on a generous sized platter and still sizzles upon serving.
My friends and I went here and it was an okay experience. The food was decent but the restaurant is WAY TOO LOUD. You can barely order your food without screaming at the waiter. If you want to talk to the people youre with you have to yell at each other. It was a Saturday night so it was busy and getting our waiters attention was difficult. My friend says its better and less crowded on the weekday. Maybe Ill give it a whirl on a quieter weekday.
Went to The Cuban for lunch the other day and had a lovely time.We enjoyed our meal and the service staff was attentive. We went on a weekday with many of the tables free. The environment does seem fitting. Even the outside.Would like to go for happy hour or dinner when theres live music. Will advise again...
Was wanting to come to this place for a bit so I finally did for my birthday. I did call to see if I had to make reservations and was told it was not needed.I went on the weekend for dinner, and wow, the wait was long. Many people were out waiting all the parking spots were practically taken in that lil area. It was 1 hr and 40 min. I do recommend coming a little earlier if possible! Maybe it was like that cause many were waiting to go indoors, outdoors was available tho at this time.Once we were finally seated it took the wait staff long to get to us, a big party was seated to the left of us, we were asked once if we were with them and said no. We were given our memes and waited for a long while. I was wondering what was up, we were trying to draw attention to the wait staff and the person said oh we thought you were with them, and we said no again we werent, so then they proceeded to take out order.I definitely like the drinks there. The food when were served the waiter almost dropped, so the calamari sauce spilled on my plate that contained the chicken. The food was good for us all.The atmosphere there was awesome, the performance was cool too!.
The food was delicious. Even though the place was crowded, the employee who was celebrating the guests birthdays was hitting on the drums nonstop right next to people eating. I understand the ambiance, but there should be a coordination or a plan in place that informs them to head to the table for celebration instead of beating on that drum nonstop. Aside from that, its a great place to hang out with friends on a Saturday night.
I would say just don’t have their tequila or sangria, they use really bad products. You’ll wake up with a hang over with just one drink. Been there several times. And I hear from everyone that has been, and I experience that too. The atmosphere is really good though. Good music, the food is ok
Extremely lively restaurant. I recommend putting in a reservation so that you can secure a seat as it does get packed. Really enjoyed the live music, you can literally order ya food and go dance while you wait for it to come out. The drinks weren’t bad, could have been a little stronger. The food was okay, wasn’t a huge fan of what I got due to seasoning.
So I been here dozens of times and never a negative experience! Last night I took a great friend for her birthday we were 8 all together! My friend lost a birthday card we went back to look for it, the lady took my info & we weren’t expecting a call! To my surprise I actually got a call, they found her card! She was upset because it was from her niece! Needless to say they went beyond customer service! She was so happy! She says she can’t wait to go back! Dinner, drinks and entertainment 🎉 definitely recommend this place
I ordered take out last Friday. Was greeted by an older gentleman who took me aside to ask my name and allowed me to wait as he grabbed my order from the kitchen. He also asked if I wanted extra dinner rolls of which I replied yes. He was really sweet. I ordered 2 ropa Viejas, garlic chicken, and oxtails. The food was fantastic and hot every Cuban cravings… the rolls were hot, which I appreciated. Can’t wait to dine or take out again.
This place is great. The food is good. The vibes are great. The people are awesome. I take one star away from service because they tend to take a while to come back to your table, but not a deterrence from returning here over and over again.
Loved the food, absolutely delicious, well spiced, great presentation. The drinks were to die for. Servers so professional, attending to your every needs. Very clean, great atmosphere. My only issue was the seats at the booths are in dire need of repairs. Otherwise loved the restaurant.
In the area and decided to try something new. The energetic greeting upon arrival was a setup for an amazing dining experience. Never having tried Cuban Cuisine, we relied on Carlo our server’s suggestions. Seated by the fireplace offered a great opportunity to experience all that The Cuban had to offer. From the views of the bar with TVs to the area that looked to be a stage for live music. It allowed us to pan the entire restaurant and even see the birthday guests be serenaded by the Mariachi band (I guess they’re called Mariachi). Actually, every table is a good one. It was the fireplace for me😊. The staff was very friendly, our server was knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly and prompt. The food though… everything was on point! The empanadas were filled with lots of delicious meat. This is the reason only reason my plate wasn’t cleaned🤣. The atmosphere, energy, food and exceptional service all made this experience one to rave about. The Cuban offers pickup and delivery service and brunch on Sat & Sun 11am - 3pm. The Cuban is next door to the bowling alley which might be the reason parking out front can be a bit challenging but there’s ample parking in the back. Stop by The Cuban and prepare for an amazing experience!
Absolutely horrible service. I would never recommend anyone go there on a weekend. Not only do they not take reservations which I can’t really wrap my brain around for a place like this, but they also cannot seem to abide by their own two hour limit policy. We literally waited OVER TWO AND A HALF HOURS for a table and every time we went back and checked to see why we were waiting longer, they proceeded to tell us they could not kick their customers out. I’m sorry? Not quite sure why you can’t tell a table that their time limit has surpassed so that they can seat more customers. Only to be seated and not even be able to communicate because of how insanely loud it was in there. Food was good but not worth going back a second time after such an absurd first experience. They’re not the only place with good Cuban food and ambience. I think an apology and some free drinks or a dessert or a small discount on the bill would have been warranted for the ridiculous amount of time we waited. But I’m not entirely sure they even did anything. Oh, and I definitely got charged a credit card transaction fee, even though I paid in cash. But of course I couldn’t even explain that to them because of how loud it was. The amount of money we spent for the experience absolutely did not equate. I will most definitely never be back here and definitely do not recommend this business. They need better management and to reevaluate how they do things in there
I gave the 3 star rating for two reasons. When my party of 10 became a party of 8 I was told we couldnt sit at the table for 10. We were put at a table for 6 with 2 chairs added, making a very tight eating space. 10 minutes later, I noticed a party of 8 sitting at the table for 10, they move the table for 2 away from them. This pissed me off because that was not an option for us. I had a reservation for my moms 75th, so I would have thought wed get the better table but not so. Then the two of the appetizers were wrong, but we were so hungry we didnt even bother to say anything. We just wanted my mom to have fun, so we kept it moving. The dinner was great, the music and entertainment were nice. But the bad start was a big turnoff. Maybe Ill try one of the other locations, but I dont see myself returning to Garden City.
11/9/2022.Went to lunch to celebrate my Mom’s 83rd Birthday! We sat in a nice corner booth and ordered ordered drinks and appetizersThe peach cosmo was strong but delicious😋We ordered avocado with stuffed crab meat, mixed ceviche, coconut, shrimp, and mussels in coconut milk!Everything was good and will definitely return. Our server brought out what was supposed to be a complimentary dessert and a shot of rum for the birthday girl (mom). However these items showed up on the bill… our server would not come to our table to discuss the issue. We did not want to spoil the ambiance so we paid….otherwise I would have given 5 stars ⭐️
MAKE SURE TO HAVE IN WRITING THAT THEY WILL ACCOMMODATE A PREFIX MENU FOR YOUR PARTY!I chose this restaurant for my graduation party because of the amazing prefix menu options, and on 5/13 I called to make a reservation for 11. I asked about package #3 to which they confirmed we can choose the package and also gave me a quote including tax and tip. I sent all of my guests the prefix menu that was on their website and verbally confirmed with the restaurant. When we arrived, they said we couldn’t order from the prefix menu. I speak to the manager, Carolina who responded in a very unprofessional manner. She claimed I did the reservation online (Resy didn’t allow me to do the reservation online b/c of the amount of guests so I HAD to call) and said she didn’t know what I was talking about as I showed her the menu I got from the website. I showed her when I called to make the reservation and she responded with she didn’t know and I never called. I was wearing my graduation gown, and felt very disappointed as she claimed I lied or didn’t know what I was talking about when I showed her the proof. I had no choice to but to dine as I didn’t want to risk not finding another place. Management and staff need support in better communication with one another and their potential guests. In terms of the food, it was okay. The family appetizer was really good. But for the entree the food was bland and tasted old.
Visited in 2019 and the portions were not big but they were reasonable and the drinks were flavorful and strong. I visited again in 2021 and while the drinks remained good, the food portion has shrunk considerably. We ordered two steaks and as you can tell by the picture we got more onions than steak. I think we would had gotten more meat even at a Tapas bar. Left feeling like i had been robbed, hence the one star.
Nice place for a meal with a side of music and dancing. This place was on time with an online reservation. Additionally, the valet parking was nice on Friday. The drinks were good. However, my other half thought the price was slightly high, and I agree. The menu variety was plentiful, which was nice, and the menu was well structured. The empanada was emblematic of the quality level I would expect from a Cuban restaurant, which was a win. We will revisit this place again. The crowd was fun but classy. There was a good live dj who also played instruments. The wait staff was extremely attentive. Lastly, the table to our left had a large fish which I am ordering next time, it was beautiful.
This place was very nice on the outside. As you walk up to this restaurant you noticed vintage cars parked all around it. The food was delicious as were the drinks, but the service had much to be desired. We had to keep calling a server over for everything. From drinks to our order., and to complain about the heat. We were seated in an included outdoor area that was cold, and we were told that they couldnt do anything about the lack of heat. My meal was oxtails beans & rice and I had a white wine sangria to drink.
I have eaten at this restaurant many times over the years and have always had a positive experience with customer service. The waiters are always pleasant and friendly. Also, the food delicious.
A Cuban Restaurant, Bar and Club. Their food is excellent and has a wide range. Wine selection is limited but they have a full bar. The place has a dance floor, with live band and performances. The music was to loud and the dance floor is projected on TV screens in the restaurant area. Their service is a little slow but the place was packed. Table side Guacamole preparation was a great experience. They carry some rare Mezcal and Tequila served with a generous pour. The deserts were also good.
Food was amazing I was a bit skeptical at first because of some of the reviews saying it was a bit steep for the amount of food they give you, but honestly I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and they gave good amount of food. Food was delicious server was awesome everything about this place was Great definitely would recommend. Price wise it was Good for the amount of food and drinks we ordered. This place is also good for photos
Absolutely amazing. My partner and I went as vendors to do decor for a private party- we were welcomed and accommodated more than any place we have worked in a decade. We stayed to eat and WOW!!!! The drinks were balanced. The food was perfection. I mean it was like a group of Cuban grandmas were in the kitchen listening to music and cooking their happy hearts away. The mussels - the Cuban sandwich sliders - the avocado stuffed with crab. And our entrees… just wow. The sangria and pina colada as well. The staff is fast and attentive- the restaurant is very clean.I have traveled to Cuba before and the atmosphere is spot on with the faded pastel paints and old cars out front and the choice of patio chairs remind me of the restaurants of Cuba - nestled into alley ways and rooftops of residential buildings. So happy to have enjoyed this place.
The food was Excellent The service was terrible out of three things I ordered individually sitting at the bar. All three were wrong. I sat down. I ordered my drink. Jack on the rock with a Coke on the side She was made it wrong. I had to stop her halfway through it. I ordered a Cuban sandwich with no mustard. I got two sliders one with mustard one without then I ordered dessert cheesecake a few minutes go by she gives me check then they are looking at me to pay bill I pay it nowI’m still sitting waiting for my cheesecake 10 minutes go by grabbed the bartender, I asked what happened to my cheesecake. I never ordered it at that point. I’m just disgusted I got up. I paid my bill and left. out of three things I ordered. She cannot get one right
Brought the family here for Easter Sunday brunch.Although it was disappointing to find that the brunch menu was not offered due to the holiday, we nonetheless enjoyed our meal tremendously. Everyone at the table loved their meals. We definitely will make a point of coming for normal brunch one day soon.
Easy to see right off of Stewart Avenue servicing Garden City and the adjoining areas of Nassau County. Plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. Moderately clean facilities. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. Nice staff especially our server Oscar. We will definitely be going back.
First: This place isnt a T-shirt and jeans establishment. Second: on Friday and Saturday evenings (around 7ish) there is live music. Third: the food is absolutely delicious! The portion size is good and the prices per dish are about $18. The drinks are delicious and the appetizers are good. Customer is a little lack luster only because the place is typically packed on the weekends and so your table goes through several waiters. Its missing that personal customer service touch. Other than that its great. There is valet parking in the front and regular parking in the back.its a great time with great food!
True. Authentic Cuban cuisine. There was something for everyone. It seems to be a popular spot for birthday celebrations. We tipped the valet parking attendants because Valet parking was free. The bar was packed for patrons who wanted to catch a game while eating. The music made me want to get up and dance. We had coconut shrimp and the guacamole dip. The guacamole was prepared fresh from scratch in our presence and done to perfection, it was a hit.. We enjoyed the Paella Cubana, Sancho de Marisco. We ordered fried snapper to go. I wished it had a sauce to accompany the snapper. The vibe was relaxing, We never felt rushed to eat and leave. By time we were ready to leave an hour later. The wait time to be seated was an hour. Phew! I definitely recommend The Cubana. We will be back.
The food was delicious, and the vibe was great, but the service was lacking. Our waitress wasnt very attentive at all. My nephew even had to get the managers attention, and he seemed not to care.
Terrible place. I ordered a chicken dish. Chicken was like cardboard could not cut it with a knife. Husband ordered a pork dish not great at all. Stay away unless maybe you just want a drink.
Restaurant is very loud, more like a bar than a restaurant. Service was rushed, we were still eating our appetizer when our meal came out. I had the salmon which was listed as their signature dish, it was over cooked and dry. Prices were way to high. I always passed by and wanted to go, glad I did will be my 1st and only time, will not go back
We went here to have dessert and drinks and saw the old school card outside! This was exciting! Reminiscent of Cuba. We walked in and there were disco lights and lively music playing! This is a very energetic place with servers quickly bringing drinks and food to patrons. We got drinks that were nicely presented. The server gave options for what I could mix the mezcal with. The Havana vice could have used more liquor. The salads were very nicely portioned, fresh, and tasty! The desserts were phenomenal! The Bread pudding to be exact! I enjoyed it a lot.Overall, we had a great time. We xouldnt stay for the live music but I hear there is music pretty much every day and the weekend is even better which id love to visit! Its a must go to spot!
I have been wanting to go to this place for years and finally had the chance. I took my niece out for lunch to celebrate her achievements. There was no reservation required but the parking was not easy to find. There is, however, parking behind the building. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by Javier, one of the assistant managers. I told him we were celebrating my nieces hard work and wanted to sit in a quiet area, if possible so we could talk. The music is not too overpowering and the atmosphere is beautiful. There are so many great pictures that decorate the walls. Anyone who comes here should take a look at them as well as the antique cars. There is also a side room for private parties. On weekends, The Cuban features live music and dancing! Our waiter, Miguel, came over with a basket filled with the most delicious, freshly baked cuban bread. It was mout-watering, to say the least! To keep things festive but light, we ordered Pina Coladas! They were delish! As a pleasant surprise, Miguel made fresh guacamole! It was incredibly good, too! The avocados were perfectly ripened and he made the guaco so well, it gave my homemade guacamole a run for its money! I seldom enjoy guacamole when I dine out but this was fabulous! The warmth of the freshly made chips really hit the spot with each scoop of guacamole. There was not a drop left by the time we finished. It was that good!As a main entree, we ordered Paella. It was perfectly seasoned with the most wonderful blend of spices! The rice was perfectly cooked and melted on your tongue with every bite.Their coffee was delicious! Perfectly brewed with a bold flavor that is smooth and not bitter.I will have to come back to try their desserts which I am sure are equally as fabulous. Overall, the reasonably priced food, the excellent service and the lively atmosphere made me regret waiting so long to come here. This is a great place to take the family, for date night or to just enjoy really good food made by loving hands! As we left, Caroline, the other assistant manager chatted with us to thank us for coming here. I do intend to return as soon as I can. I had such a great time!
Tbh I had much higher expectations for this place. I went on a day that was rather hot and there were no fans for those of us sitting outside. So eating hot food was deff not the best option. The traditional seviche that I ordered was okay. I have had much better. The actual food itself was just rice with chicken and some seasoning. The price deff does not reflect the quality of food. Parking is also quite limited here. The service took quite some time so ended up getting dessert elsewhere.
Nice, first-time experience. We were there to celebrate my husbands birthday. He really enjoyed himself. Our server was very accommodating.
I absolutely love the dinner and show concept. I’ve dined here twice on a Friday night and was seated quickly even though the place was packed. Service was great. Drinks are on point and food was delicious as well. Took 1 star off because crab cakes were not good- at all, do not order. Some good choices are the shrimp empanadas and the octopus. I enjoyed the dancers and you they have a dance floor for the customers. Definitely a fun vibe here!
Nice place but very very crowded . Yes it was Saturday night so expected. Can hardly see the so called show from 90% of the restaurant. No reservations unless a big group. Lots of big birthday groups there so large full tables and very cluttered.Music was great. Appetizers were good. Drinks watered down. Make ths best of the crowded tight place anddance the night and crowded place away.
My first time at “The Cuban”. We arrived just before 3:00 PM. The atmosphere was set from the moment we entered the parking lot where we were greeted with a bit of Cuban history. Several well preserved classic 1940’ s -1950’s cars were parked waiting for the next guest to strike up a pose. Hoping to capitalize on the last few days of sunny weather we opted to sit in the covered outdoor area. We had fresh, perfectly seasoned guacamole made at the table. The staff was very cordial. Our waiter was busy, but it was clearly a team effort all the way. We had one small hiccup during the course of the evening, but it was immediately addressed by Xavier the manager. All in all, a variety of menu items, delicious, good portion sizes at a reasonable price with a casual, inviting atmosphere. Definitely worth a return trip with my 80 year old Hispanic mother-in law.
I would give zero stars. We stood at the hostesss desk for over 5 minutes and no one said hello, offered us a table or anything. It was not overly busy and at least 4 workers walked past us and 2 servers just stared our way. No acknowledgement. I guess theyre not in the business of making money.
OMG! What an amazing dining experience! The food is delicious, flavorful and the presentation is beautiful. The singer and dancers were AMAZING! I felt like I had been transported back in time to where dining was elegant. If youre in the vicinity, please stop by and enjoy the food, music and the feel of old Havana.
Awesome restaurant! Great music, amazing food! The ambiance here brings out the sabrasura that Cuban is known for! We had a great time here. Dance while you wait to be seated, eat and have a phenomenal meal, then hit the dance floor again to enjoy burning the calories you just ate lol. I will definitely be going back! Red Snapper is totally worth it. Delicious!
Excellent experience. The Cuban is a time piece that transports you to Cuba. The atmosphere really sets the Cuban experience starting with the vintage vehicles outside. As you enter the doors, you will feel like you are in the tropics ready to indulge in the festivities. It’s a great place to celebrate birthdays or just enjoy the positive vibes in a high energy environment. The guacamole is a must experience!!!! SOOO WORTH IT
The service was good as well as the food, went to celebrate a birthday. I decided to walk to the bar to purchase some shots for the birthday person. The girl at the bar refused to sell me the shots and went to talk behind my back to several waiters. After we ordered dessert, I found a sharp plastic in my cake after I had in my mouth which I almost swallowed, it really scared me because I was feeding my 2 year old son and what if he swallowed it, would had been a disaster. In overall supper disappointed with the service and the fact that there was a sharp item on my food.
I visited this Cuban Restaurant last Saturday June 8th, 2024 with my bestie. It was a terrific experience. Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. Atmosphere was clean and friendly. Great food and great drinks 🍷. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. Definitely deserving of 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
The Cuban is a very nice restaurant. The look and feel gives off vibes of a little Havana. The staff were very attentive and the restaurant is kept clean. While the food was very good, the cocktails were decent. Some nitpicks were that the tables next to the outdoor area were a bit wobbly and they had a live mariachi band for some reason
Food was great! I had the best steak of my life! There is outdoor seating which I loved and a dance area with live entertainment. My boyfriend and I got on the dance floor and did our thing ( we don’t dance much) but it was fun. The atmosphere is nice. There seems to always be a crowd. We got there early so we didn’t have to wait for a table. We’re just new parents having a night out in town and it was fun!
The food was good! We didnt eat inside but we were in the outdoor area and it wasnt too uncomfortable even though it was a warm day. Although our waiter was very friendly, he did mess up our tables order (he didnt write anything down but to be fair he only messed up 1 thing out of our table of 9 people). We waited a long time just to get water and order our food. Taking into consideration the day, time, and staffing, food was still good and it was a pretty good experience overall, a 4/5 rating is fair. (Picture below is the Paella Cubana)
The Cuban is a great place to see live Latin music entertainment while enjoying the fantastic Cuban food. The service is excellent. The place is unique, and the ambiance and decor transport you to Cuba. Great for dates, going dancing, kids, and groups. The restaurant has an area with a bar with great music (18th and up).The cars outside add a special touch to the Havana nights experience. My favorite dishes are Ropa vieja, Cuban puding, corquetas cubanas, bacalaitos, mariquitas. For drinks - passion fruit margaritas are excellent!!! Overall a great place to go to and have a great time if you have a small group.I wish this restaurant took reservations at this location. I stopped going because the wait was just crazy. Last time we waited for 2.5 almost 3 hours to get a seat, and it was nearly 11 pm when they finally were able to take us. The kitchen closes at 11 pm. Thanks to Miguel, who took care of us, the food was terrific! After being frustrated, we had a great time.
Yo guys this place is banging!! I have come Here so many times for good food, service and music!! All the bartenders are amazing and very knowledgeable about any drink you ask them yo make!! fun place!! I co.e here Thursdays.....the girls Tatiana, JC, and Paola are amazing and very good looking!! I recommend this place 100%!
We went there to see how it was going to be and we was really surprised food was great the service was great. Atmosphere was great also everyone was great I would definitely. We had brunch next time we go will be for dinner. Cant wait. See you soon CUBANTHANK YOU
One of the top Cuban restaurant in Long Island.Exceptional selection of appetizers but to me, the Camaron Ceviche is an absolute must have.In regards with entrees, their Seafood Paella is a no brainer. I’ve tried many Paella’s across various restaurants and this is by far the best. If you like seafood and you like rice, trust me you will not be disappointed.Overall this is a very good restaurant not too deep in Long Island if you’re coming from the boroughs. Definitely worth a visit.
I was there for lunch. The service was great as usual and the food was delicious. The exciting thing about going to The Cuban is seeing the improvements that they make to the restaurant. The private dining room has been recently renovated. They have changed the bar and dinning room table and chairs.
What an amazing place. We visited for Sunday brunch and we enjoyed every minute of it. They have a very extensive menu of food and drinks. While enjoying our food there they had a duster that was playing live music.Atmosphere: From the outside to the inside this place is live and vibrant. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and is set and ready for any occasion.Staff: I cant remember our servers name but he was very polite. All of the staff was attentive and very live. Service was quick and great.Food: We went with what seemed to be a popular dish (steak & eggs). It was served fresh and hot and even had a nice sauce with it.Drinks: This place has a very nice drink menu with all different types to try. Youre sure to find something youll like without a doubt.Overall: I would love to give this place another try. And I would recommend this place to any and everyone. Go for brunch or go during the weekend for dinner. This place is sure to not disappoint.
I drove out to Long Island from New Jersey to have lunch with my Bestie. I arrived thirty minutes before the Brunch menu was to end, so the two of us opted to have the dinner menu instead. I ordered the Ribeye Steak and my Bestie ordered the Churrasco Cubano. The waitress brought my steak out well done when I asked for medium. The steak was still tender so I didn’t bother to complain. My Bestie’s steak was medium but she ordered her steak well done. When it comes to meat, it is important for the restaurant’s staff to get this right. Aside from that mix up, we enjoyed our drinks and the festive ambiance.
As you arrive to the parking lot you are greeted by some vintage 🚘 autos that set the ambiance for this restaurant, entering the local it felt like I would imagine what a restaurant on the island would look like, we were seated promptly and our server Yaser introduced himself, he was great, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, the guacamole was awesome, the sangria was ok but the stuffed snapper was great, a little pricey but worth it, I thought that the chicken and pork in the Plato Ilegal were overdone but the taste was ok, the Famous Cubano was ok but the tostones were nothing to talk about. Overall I had a very good experience and will return
We visited this restaurant to celebrate my brother-in-laws graduation, but unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. My husband and mother-in-law were each given a measly 1/4 of a plantain with their meal, despite the menu advertising maduros. To make matters worse, Grandmas rice was raw, and I didnt receive everything that was supposed to be on my plate. The wait time between visits from the waitress was obnoxiously long despite there only being three other tables, and our waitress couldnt remember our orders. We had planned to order dessert, but after waiting over 20 minutes, we gave up. My meal consisted of just one small chicken breast, and my family even commented on the lack of food on my plate.Overall, it was disappointing. I’ve been to all the Cuban locations and I have not had this kind of an experience before. I will not be returning to this location.
I was really disappointed with the amount food given for the price . Rice is not expensive and for them to give me literally three spoon full of white rice , It’s ridiculous . Chicharrón de pollo three little pieces . I will never order from them again. And I will make sure to use different platforms to give them a bad rate , because for 169.00 you give portion for a little toddler.
This place has a great vibe and good drinks, the food is good, but realize that youre going to pay way more than your average Latino Restaurant for the ambiance and music. The staff is welcoming and quick.
The Cuban has a great ambience and the food was great! We were a party of five and we all enjoyed our food - I had the Cuban Paella, which had a whole lobster tail with shrimps, mussels, clams and chorizo. The paella is big enough for two people. My husband had the ribeye with tostones, which he enjoyed as well. The music was great and varied. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return❗️
Hey, its your boy again, finally made it to The Cuban and had a great time. If you looking for Latin Food, this is the spot for you flavor leaves your mouth looking for the next bite. Drinks many to choose from and then there is music and also live music with music come dancing but thats later in the evening. Very clean and great vibe check it out for those who look to book ahead they dont do reservations and wait times might vary. Enjoy
I made a reservation for tonight at 9 pm 2/24 for 10 people the day before. The man on the phone took my name and number and even told me that they have to make it for 9 because the kitchen would be closing at 11pm so everyone can get their food in. We all get there and they tell us they don’t take reservations and that it would be a 2 hour wait. Completely not fair! It was for my birthday and I canceled the one for patchogue I had a reservation for because we THOUGHT we had one for the garden city location so disappointing.Update my mom called this morning to tell them what happened and the manager didn’t give any care about the situation. All she could say is “I’m sorry but we don’t take reservations on the weekend”. No accommodation to try to make the situation better or anything, according to her EVERYONE there knows they don’t take reservations on the weekend but clearly they do NOT if the man on the phone took my name and phone number. Also if they don’t take them how come the guy at the front when we got there tried to look up my name before he proceeded to say “we don’t take reservations”? Clearly they are all trying to cover up their mistake instead of trying to fix it. Very disappointing because the place looked very nice but management couldn’t care less about treating their costumers well. If we were aware they didn’t take reservations someone would have went earlier to the restaurant to get a table.
Went to the Cuban for a date with a smoking hot chick. The atmosphere was electric during the day, I can only imagine what its like at night. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious too. We had the coconut shrimp, ropa vieja, and a salad. Will def be back.P.S - Valet parking is a must
Me and my mom and step dad had an absolute blast!! loved the experience food was amazing everyone was so friendly. Our server Yasel was truly truly an example of what customer service should be. he was phenomenal made our experience 10 times better!
I did not care for the food. Service was Amazing will go back for Brian and the drinks. Appetizers were ok. The vibe is great.
Tried The Cuban in garden city today for dinner. Food was delicious, portions were big. they were able to accommodate my husbands allergies (dairy and egg) the kids wanted to play the drums, staff let them play, then regretted 4 kids playing drums 😂😂 we agreed to 2 mins. Kids had a blast dancing by the stage. Overall great vibe and happy staff! 💃🏽
The Cuban such a vibe. The food is great, the drinks are well and the music gives you that Latin feel to bring the ambiance all together. When we went they had a band playing that did a mix of multiple diff genres. Over had a great experience. So much decal to look at for photo ups especially in front of the restaurant with all the cool vintage cars. (My little one loved in) the staff were very nice and attentive. I would recommend this place.
Took my bf here for his birthday and everything was perfect. I reserved a table using opentable app, requested a high top and was seated at a more private area since it was just the two of us. The interior design of this place is so rich in color it automatically gives you a rush of endorphins. We had 3 appetizers and couldnt finish them before our main meal. The waiting team, yes!your serviced by multiple wait staff not just your waiter, kindly put our remaining apps in a togo box.You also get a bread basket while waiting for your food the BUTTER looks like its hand crafted and delish!!! My bf doesnt like butter (athlete) but this butter spoke to him, lol. All the food was amazing the DRINKS Were made with perfection, its not like other places that skimp the alcohol. This was different in all the best ways down to the birthday song.THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR A GREAT NIGHT.
The wait time is a bit long for Sunday Brunch. Almost 3 hours but it is worth the wait if youre in a big group. The mimosas and champagne punch are amazing, unlimited and definitely bottomless! The waiters were always ready to fill my glass. The customer service was great and the food was delicious. I got the french toast and home fries!
Food is great, service great, atmosphere great. But food portions are ridiculous, small for the price tag they have.
I came here for my daughters 25th Birthday and we had an amazing time. The food was very good.singer RAFFI CABALLERO was amazing his music had us dancing for hours. I will definitely recommend this place. The staff was very pleasant and inviting. I had absolutely no complaints. Thank you for your wonderful service
VERY DISAPPOINTED! So different from their Patchogue counterpart. Ordered takeout today. With tip came out to close to $57 bucks! Tostones I got 5; Cuban Sandwich-a little smaller than the typical sandwich you get in Miami but you get a WHOPPING THREE YUCCA FRIES!! Wow!!! Then there were the 2 orders or Moros - thank God I ordered 2! Each one barely filled one take out tin! Come on folks — it’s basically rice with a few black beans — costs pennies to make! Then there’s the Fried Pork Chunks.. masitas de puerco frita… cut so small that they were so dried out from being fried… HORRIBLE… Patchogue gives you nice sized actual Chunks! These things were half the size of dice and it also was barely half a container! What a LET DOWN. Not coming here anymore.
Food taste good. Wait time could improve. Very nice atmosphere. Better than ok 👍
Highly overrated and over priced on everything! They charge you for a coke refill (from a fountain!), there is 3% charge for using credit card that is already added to your bill, 20% tip is also added ahead of time without any consideration of the service provided and then the final bill has a line for adding more gratuity! Come on!!! Anyone that isnt drunk knows what you are doing!Servers other than the girl that was filling water in your glass werent interested in the guest and just dumped the food on your table, manager at the door didnt care and the food was at the most mediocre. Live music was the only saving grace.I am not into giving these types of 1-star reviews to a business but this I felt compelled and totally cheated by the practices of this place.
I went with my husband and daughter to the Cuban for a night out together because we usually don’t get to have time to go out all together. The experience the Cuban had for us was truly amazing! Shout out to our server Yasel he was truly a blessing! So fun so full of energy wonderful person even helped us take photos and cleaned the table so well! Anything we asked it was done with love by him! Thank you so much to Yasel. Overall experience was 10/10
This was an impromptu Brunch amongst friends, celebrating the 75th Birthday of a very special person. Our server, Miguel was friendly, attentive & very patient with us, which we appreciated. We ordered off the brunch and main menu, all meals were presented well, temperature was good and everything was tasty! Drinks were enjoyed coffee and dessert was good too.Value was great for what we ordered. The only issue is we were charged a 3% free for credit card use, but paid cash for the tip and 85% of our meal one person didnt bring cash. which made no sense, but its all good. We werent going to argue over that -$8-$12 could have been another drink, a dessert or side....just be aware, as its already added to the main Bill.
My family and I have been looking for a good restaurant that serves Latinx food so we tried The Cuban and unfortunately were disappointed. The food isn’t fresh; and we found most of our plates we’re either under/over cooked and bland for our taste.Pros:-waiter was friendly- great music which made for a lively ambiance- the churrasco I ordered had a good flavorCon: the food was not fresh at all ,Bacalaitos: didn’t taste like cod fish at all, they were super breaded and had no flavorRopa vieja: the tomatoe sauce was undercooked and tasted a lot like raw adoboPalomilla: no flavorTostones: super dry, you can tell they had been sitting out and refried multiple times.
I went for brunch but didnt order off the brunch menu..ordered of the regular menu and the food was flavorful and the portion size was very nice. I will be back to try the brunch menu.
Love the decor and the inviting atmosphere. The staff was super warm inviting and the service was phenomenal. Went for lunch with a colleague and we were both super satisfied. The Ropa Vieja, Churrasco the stuffed plantains, the bread and seasoned butter were all very good and would definitely recommend going back the sauces to accompany the meals were very flavorful as well. Now down to the real talk. I absolutely love dessert and flan, creme de caramel, is my go to love and this restaurant did not fail the flan was creamy the added touch of a shredded coconut bottom was just the right amount of added flavor and texture to this fabulous dish. Even my colleague who hates flan absolutely dove in. So do I recommend absolutely even if its just to sit hang out have a coffee and flan with great service and an inviting layout. Looking forward to my next dish soon.
Came here for a friend’s birthday dinner party. There were about 10 of us, service was slow & food not being so memorable. But we still had a good time since it wasn’t anything crazy.Figure I give them another try so I ordered lunch via ubereats. Chicken saffron rice $29 good portion size, flavor is passable but not the best. I ordered a side of sweet plantains ($8) this has to be the lowest quantity I’ve ever got for a side order of plantains that cost me $8. C’mon DO BETTER!!!
Outside and inside decorated very nice and different. Live DJ/singers and music were very loud but festive. Food was ethnic and very well done. Portions were moderate and a little pricey ($20+). Drinks were good and very strong. Only complaint i had was service was horrible. Never checked on us and seemed to be forgotten. Waited forever for check and then actually had to ask bar for check. Would still reccomend
My! Oh! My!! I loved the place, the ambiance, very kid friendly. I felt welcomed, great customer service and lets not forget about the food, everything that I had starting from the appetizers to the entrées were well seasoned and packed with a delightful punch of different flavors... I wished I took a picture of my entrée but in the meantime, enjoy the ones down below
This place was highly recommended by a few of my friends and Im sad to say how disappointed I was. To be celebrating my sisters birthday and do more waiting than actual dining was frustrating to say the least. Our waiter took our appetizer order and disappeared; only to reappear TWO HOURS LATER to ask if everything was okay. I had to flag down any waiter -and even a manager who at one point joked the waiter quit- if I even wanted my glass of water refilled. At no point did anyone communicate to us what happened with our waiter. While the music was distracting us at first, it began to be clear how much my table was being ignored compared to others. Just because my party of three wasnt as large as other tables, shouldnt mean wed be less attended to and almost invisible. While the food was good, overall the customer service was just not it, save yourself the trip.
Food is ok Brian is Amazing will definitely return for Drinks, Appetizers and Brians Amazing Customer Service he gave us such a great experience.
The NASTIEST MOJITO I HAVE EVER TASTED, lit tasted like gasoline and an splash of lime juice for 12.50$. EXTREMELY unprofessional approach for costumer service. The food took long time and I understood it because they were busy but when it was put on the table all 3 dishes were cold. I asked my steak medium and got a little piece of rubber. Never again.
The first time I went to the cuban was in Patchogue and I gave them 5 stars across the board. My second cuban experience was the restaurant in Garden City, the service from both locations is day and night, the hosted was texting when we approached the counter and he made sure he finished his text., it was just this energy of not a warm person at all, then here comes the girl to serve the water not friendly either I was in Shocked because I received top of the line service in Patchogue and I was expecting the same in Garden city, our waiter Oscar was Ok he was probably the friendlier out of every person I talked to. Now let me just say that the food is fantastic! Spot on. Authentic hispanic flavors and served beautifully, I cant get over how delicious the food is at both restaurants, amazing. The garden city one just needs a friendlier staff. Friendliness goes alone way.
Great service. Went there for a private party. Food was top tier. Highly recommended.
I was dying to go here after I saw my friend went. I was excited to go but I ordered Takeout. The restaurant looked nice and lively and it wasnt very busy at first. I went around 1pm on a Sunday (last month). I ordered when I got there but I didnt expect a very long wait time (it took 35+ mins to get my food). The ambiance was nice, cultural and designed just like Cuba. I enjoyed the scenery but the food was average. I wish I wasnt charged so much for some quesadillas (they werent that big) and it was cold by the time I got it and I didnt get any extra anything to compensate for the wait time. 😫 Maybe if I go back again Id eat inside and have a higher rating.
Cute Cuban spot in Long Island. The food was GREAT. The service was not the best. They left us for a long time. It was a night they had music which was nice but it was way too loud. The food was delicious though. Go to eat. Not to talk.
My 2nd time here and I thought it would be better. The service is great. The food could be alot better. Its to overpriced. We ordered a platter that was for 6 people, food was only enough for 2 people, we wanted to split between 3 people and it was not enough and it was not great. The food is overprived for what it is.
With high expectations comes great responsibility ! I have heard about this place for a long time , I finally had the pleasure to visit “the Cuban “ and I have to say so far very disappointed. I order the fried octopus or “pulpo a lá parrilla “ it was very disappointing ,the octopus was literally fried with no flavor whatsoever, I cannot understand how this is supposed to be one of the highlights! It was blank no flavor it actually looked like a fried snake in a plate , no flavor and trust me I have had good octopus! For example @kimarestaurant have the best octopus I ever had in Long Island! And this is not to bash “the Cuban “ I’m about to have the skirt stake ! I’ll tell you how this go in a second . Ok I had half of my skirt steak and is decent not bad but is not great, life changing. Be prepared to have decent Spanish food , but the elephant in the room is the atmosphere. I really enjoy the atmosphere live music multiple TVs to watch sports and decent drinks not bad. If you ever visit @Thecubanny come in with an open mind. Great atmosphere decent drinks and food.
The food is nothing like what its name indicates, although the description says what the dish has, it does not live up to its name, due to its high prices, the portions are very small, they are not good portions, Im sorry but I dont think Ill order again.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Cuban restaurant, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was transported to the vibrant streets of Havana, immersed in a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable evening. The service at this Cuban gem was exceptional. The staff were friendly and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure my dining experience was top-notch. They provided insightful recommendations from the menu, and their genuine care for customer satisfaction was evident throughout. The service truly elevated my overall experience. Now, lets talk about the food. The menu boasted a mouthwatering selection of traditional Cuban dishes that were crafted with impeccable skill and bursting with flavors. From the succulent Ropa Vieja to the heavenly taste explosion of the Lechon Asado, each dish was a celebration of authenticity. The portions were generous, and the presentation showcased the chefs attention to detail. The entertainment added a vibrant touch to the evening. Live Cuban music filled the air, creating an electric atmosphere. Talented musicians and dancers took the stage, inviting guests to join in on the dance floor. The fusion of authentic Cuban cuisine with live entertainment made for an immersive experience. In conclusion, my visit to this Cuban restaurant was a captivating delight. The exceptional service, mouthwatering cuisine, and lively entertainment created a memorable experience. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an enchanting journey through the flavors and culture of Cuba. Prepare to be transported to the heart of Havana as you embark on a culinary adventure!Kudos to the entire team at the Cuban restaurant for their dedication to creating an unforgettable experience. I cant wait to return for another evening of Cuban delights!
The Cuban is what a Cuban aficionado would frequent! On Stewart avenue in Garden City next to the bowling alley is The Cuban, a tastefully decorated eatery that will have you wanting more.We stopped in for lunch during their opening week. The drinks were large and the dance floor and bandstand ready for a happening Friday night. We tried the croquetas and mariquitas as appetizers. The croquetas were a bit pricy for two pieces but delicious. The dipping sauce for the mariquitas was devine. The main course was paella. Fresh seafood well cooked. Rice was delicious. My daughter ordered the Arroz con Pollo. The chicken was perfect. The service was very attentive and for a opening week lunch..the guests were stopping in.Overall we are very pleased, a new favorite Cuban place!
My friends and I had an enjoyable long late lunch. It was a most enjoyable afternoon. A number of birthday and other celebrations gave it an almost friendly community atmosphere. Service, food i& sangria alls excellent. We will be back perhaps for the music & dancing at the dinner hour
I was disappointed. I went in there specifically for a Cuban sandwich. When it came out I was immediately put off by its size. It was a tiny thin Panni that came with three fried Yuka sticks. For $21 this was very disappointing. It was so small each half took literally three bites to finish. To make matters worse it wasnt even a real Cuban sandwich as it didnt have pickles, although they are listed on the menu. For a place that calls itself The Cuban you would think they would know how to make and/or feature a top notch Cuban sandwich.
This place looks nice and gives off the right feeling. The food here is decent but nothing special. The table service was good. They came around to make sure everything was good. That had me surprised because I went to their other location in Suffolk and the waiter was never anywhere to be found. The bartenders take forever to take your order. Drinks are regular price which is a plus. On the weekend there is a DJ with a small dance floor. This is a place that you have to try for yourself to really see if you like it or not.
Atmosphere music service was amazing but order seabass and ceviche shrimp fish was no good unfortunately got sick immediately after vomiting sadly
The food 🥘has no taste. It is very oily. They give small portions for the rice. This place is very pricey. It is not worth it.
Food is absolutely delicious. We had an issue with a large party where they couldnt split the check so they randomly charged one persons card for the whole meal. Very odd. Also the service took much longer than expected.
I attended an engagement party here. The location is very aesthetically pleasing inside and out. The staff are pleasant to interact with. Their bread is like nothing Ive tried before (sort of like a biscuit, but not). The food was great. Their celebration tradition (like other restaurants singing the happy birthday song) was nice and involved actual instruments. Would definitely return.
What a wonderful place. Good food and excellent service. The prices are reasonable, especially the linch menu. They arranged a special celebration for my granddaughterss birthday, and she was thrilled. The music in the background was authentic and not too loud. They also have a vintage car collection out front. We cant wait to go back for happy hour.
