If you want to have an absolute fun time, then go here!! These people were so incredibly great and the laughs just kept on rolling. The drinks were super fast, and the service was attentative! And when we went it was also my sisters bachelorette party and the staff went ABOVE & BEYOND to ensure it was an absolute amazing and memorable time for us, and so very very accommodating with Im telling you everything! Kelie or Kielee (Im probably spelling that incredibly wrong, and for that I apologize) was awesome and seriously the sweetest person and even got us up on the stage to take some pictures after the event! I could not thank her enough for her kindness and just overall true compassion. But the entire staff and performers were all amazing! I cant write enough words to show my appreciation and fondness of this place after last night, but I can ensure that I will be back! It was a BLAST! And everyone who was with us felt the same!!
Was a spur of the moment date night and we were pleased with all aspects! The acts were hilarious and on point. Service was fantastic. We also bought a pin for $5 which goes to cancer patients and families..... that was a laugh fest event. Im a sucker for a good pin, I collect them but especially when it goes for a good cause. We stayed for both acts. So, we got half off on the second one and met some of the cast at the bar. Had a blast. Bought two shirts from the comedy project as well. Super reasonably priced and helps a local bad as spot. Will be watching the site for upcoming events.
Joe and Kristin from the Comedy Project helped to pull off the most epic prank on one of our company partners, who is the ultimate jokester and asked for it frankly! They pretended to be prospective clients who stood to inherit a significant amount of money. With a plot twist and a ton of awkwardness during a second meeting in our office, the joke was finally revealed. The partner absolutely loved being the subject of this company wide plot and respected that we hired professionals! Joe and Kristin were a pleasure to work with, dodged every bullet that was thrown at them and stayed in character until the very end. EPIC experience!
I had a blast! Great show and good drinks. The seats arent super comfortable, but I had a lot of fun and want to go back
Our organizations leadership team came to The Comedy Project for a few hours of team building and development. We couldnt have been more happy or surprised with Joe, Kristin, and the entire place! Not only did we laugh til we cried, but we also learned valuable lessons and key takeaways that will influence our leadership for years to come. Thank you!! Highly recommend!
What an incredibly fun night out! The owners and staff were amazing, the show was hilarious, and they tailored it to our audience and mission. I absolutely recommend them for any event, or for just a fun date night out.
The comedy project is a great spot! The improv and sketch shows are really fun, comedy outlet Mondays and thirsty Thursdays are great value, and the classes are SO fun! There are great cocktails and lil snacks. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody!
My wife and I live on the East side of the state of Michigan. Anytime we find ourselves on the West side we make sure to stop and see an improv show at ‘The comedy Project’ - no one is funnier than the group of people that work here. Unfortunately we have no good comedy on our side of the state! If this was closer we’d be every weekend! Drinks, tickets, and snacks are all priced fairly, I cannot recommend this place enough.
Everytime we go we laugh until tears come. I recommend eating beforehand as their menu is all snack foods. The drinks are delicious cocktails!
In 2023 our mid-size non-profit Enriched Living was looking for a new way to fundraise for our residents and we wanted something that was fun, laid back and focused on our Grand Rapids community. When we decided to host our first Comedy for a Cause fundraiser at The Comedy Project we were not sure what to expect. In the end, we were blown away by the talent of the comedians and how easy Kristin and the team were to work with. Our organization brought in a lot of raffles, an emcee, videos, catering and they accomodated all of our wishes easily. After our first event we rebooked for a second year right away. The tickets for Comedy for a Cause 2024 for Enriched Living sold out in less than 24 hours and drew some media attention. We would love to believe it was the raffle baskets we assembled, but we know the comedy is the main draw! Comedy for a Cause 2024 was a great success raising funds as well. Our attendees, staff and sponsors had an amazing time. I would absolutely recommend this venue as a location for your fundraising event. The team is professional, talented and do an excellent job of keeping the event on track without making it feel stressful. Thank you Comedy Project!
I love TCP! I’ve visited a couple of times now and have always had a blast. The shows are engaging and funny, drinks are reasonably priced, and everyone is very friendly. I recently visited for my bachelorette party and we had such a great time at the early show that we decided to stay for the late show! The folks at TCP were so kind and fun, and even let us get some great pictures on stage after! I highly recommend this spot for a date night or girls night out!
I threw a bachelorette party at the comedy project. It was PERFECT for us. We rented the space for a couple hours prior to the show. We got to eat dinner, open gifts, and play games. There was so much space for activity. The staff at the CP was amazing. Very accommodating to our needs. Helped get us things when needed, even helped clean up our catered food when they didnt need to. Communication beforehand was simple and they were super responsive and answered all my questions. It truly was an awesome night. Thank you CP team for making this so enjoyable for us!!
The comedy was great and we all had an awesome time. The issue was with tickets/drinks/cash/cards. The gentleman at the front door was unable to provide change for cash ($30 on two $12 tickets). 10-15min before the show, we were then unable to order drinks at an empty bar. Had to go to the table and fill out a slip. Drinks didnt arrive until after the show started due to one swamped server covering the entire floor. She was kind and apologized for the long wait, unsure who got what, whisper/yelling the different names on her ticket.I had to pee halfway through the show and stopped at the bar on my way back. Despite having my name and card, they needed to know my table number. 6? 7? 9? I dont know, man.Trying to close out at the end of the night was the kicker. Again, one server going from table to table cashing people out from her single point of sale handheld. Not possible to cash out at the empty bar. Just had to stand and wait. The show was fun. It was funny. Well be back. But their ticketing and payment processing was like trying to reinvent the wheel. Why make it so hard for people to give you money?
Went to the comedy project to see a friend perform. It was a lot of fun. Saw some clever performers who knew how to get a laugh. The evening was a hoot.
Aways have a great time here. Shows are fun and entertaining. Excellent selection of beverages at Grand Rapids prices (aka reasonable).
The staff was great and gave their best effort We had some laughs but the improv comedy was not my thing, I prefer stand up.
This was a fun experience. We went for a friends 40th birthday. They have different drink options and my only issue was there were no napkins for the drinks. The comedy was good though and I would go back again.
Great small venue for local improv comedy. The drink selection is decent, food is typical bar/club snacks that can tide one over, but dont expect a meal. Shows vary from performance to performance but the house cast has a great energy, and always entertains
Here is what I wish I could say directly to this place, needless to say I do NOT recommend, and don’t believe this place is safe for queers and other marginalized groups!Hey @ComedyProjectGR maybe don’t just read the names off someone’s credit card loudly, dead naming them as soon as they walk in (or ever). Just an idea!:3Also vet ur comedians for half a second and don’t let some transphobic hack take the stage! Disgusting and disappointed! Should have known u hadn’t changed Since you’ve opened! Also the lack of any love for marginalized groups was duly noted, Extremely white cishet space!! I’d boo you but not worth the effort!0/5 ✨
The check-in system isnt very efficient, and they take your credit/debit card for the duration of the show. The acts were pretty good. I really enjoyed 2 of the 4 comics. Improve is really hard to do, and it isnt for everyone. I enjoyed it but wont be back. Stand-up is what I prefer.
I went to the Battle Bots show this past weekend, and had a blast! The drinks are delicious and reasonably priced and the show was creative and funny. The whole crew is hilarious, but the tall curly haired gal had me absolutely dying! I cant wait to come back for more laughs!
The comedy project helped me to host a party for my husbands birthday. Kristin made this process super easy. The staff was super friendly and set everything up perfectly! The bar was great and we brought in catering. I highly recommend them for your event!
Having seen some big city improv before, which was admittedly great, I wasnt sure what to expect from a local improv troupe here in Grand Rapids. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed. We had a blast. Laughed until my face hurt and enjoyed some tasty cocktails for a remarkably affordable evening. Definitely returning.
Cool local place that I think everyone should at least attend once. They have different showings throughout the week. I went to the Monday one which is a bit more experimental and has new stuff but I loved it. The drinks were also pretty good and really well priced.Considering the price of attendance is really cheap, the drinks are cheap but really good, and you get some quality, original entertainment, Id say your money would be well spent by attending a showing. Ill definitely be trying to go again (for a weekend showing this time).
The Comedy Project came to our meeting location for a team building/communication workshop for about 40 participants. They were just what we needed! Had everyone laughing and gave us great techniques to try in all our interactions with humans! Every single participant raved!
AMAZING EXPERIENCEI can’t not even put into words how amazing the vibe, people and community that I saw after just my first time visiting! Amazing service and beautiful place. I went to the open mic Monday and it was such a great variety of comedy/improv. And I stuck around for the improv jam after !! Which was a blast. I will definitely be spending my Monday nights there and recommending the comedy project to ALLof my friends and family-Christian/lilmilkcarton
Such a fun time, like SNL on stage! Plus a bunch of improv and some stand-up now and then, a full bar and snacks! Its located right by Long Road Distillers and Mitten Brewing if you wanna make an evening out of it with dinner and drinks. One of my favorite spots in the city!
Biggest downside to this place its is sighnage and that the Google maps area takes it to the main street. They should of adjusted the secondary sign instead to show straight and then another for a right turn.Other then directions the place was a blast. My first time seeing improv and the performers were amazing and we had a blast. Easy to get drinks and food too with their order sheets.
Let me start by saying my wife and I are much older then the normal crowd there. The show was at 10:00pm at night so I guessing it was formatted for the younger crowd. For the price it was a great value and the crowd does direct the program I just do not understand why every conversation has to contain words not appropriate in society. (The reason for the 4 stars). Also the music prior to the show was so loud my my wife and I could not talk. The actors were great and witty with the ability to have a come back in sort order. We were greeted with a friendly person who took us directly to our seats.Parking is free and close by in a parking lot.Maybe next time we will try a earlier show.Improv is not our thing but this was a great opportunity to go out for a cheap date night.Hats off to the actors who really did a great job to perform to the crowds direction. The people running the place were great as well, very friendly.
Always a fun time at The Comedy Project! The sketch and improv shows are fantastic. Seating is comfortable. I love the table service. The moonshine cocktails are super tasty. Friendly staff, I highly recommend going to a show or two. 😉👍
The Comedy Project hosted our wedding reception, and it was absolute perfection. Kristin is a superstar, and made our planning process a breeze. It might seem like a small thing, but having her email us three days before the event with a full rundown of the itinerary exactly as it had been discussed calmed any nerves we had. Joe also went above and beyond making sure that we and all our guests had the time of our lives. The staff were all incredible hosts, and while its probably not for everyone, the mid-reception improv show was a wedding experience we and our guests will never forget. And to those looking for reviews of the actual comedy: I havent laughed that hard in years, probably since the last time I checked out a show at TCP. The only shame is that I cant give more than five stars.
Comedy project improv was the most funny comedy show I have been to. It is much better than more well known comedy establishments in Michigan. The interaction with the crowd made for an enjoyable evening worth not taking a bathroom break for. Would recommend highly.
Fun place with an amazing offering of flavored whiskeys & cocktails
I have come here multiple different times and every time I do, I always leave happy. Its a fun, sarcastic, energetic and social theater that never ceases to surprise me.Keep it up guys! 😁Note: Parking can be a bit of a bite when you get there close to show time so get there a little early.Alcohol is now being serviced too. (Personally havent tried it but yeah)
Was a great first experience watching live non scripted acts. People were very friendly and amazing. Highly recommended.
I was looking for a fun date night and was blown away by how much fun we had. Performers were great, the vibe on the inside was excellent, and staff was amazing. Highly recommend looking forward to coming back soon to see another show.
My husband and I came to Grand Rapids for a weekend getaway, were looking for fun things to do and see. If you are looking for some fun entertainment that is full of laughs, this is it! The comedians have a great talent for improv, and we fully enjoyed the hour of fun! We will definitely be back!We saw the music themed one, GREAT show!! “Stab stab stab 😂”
What an amazing, unique place with wonderful people! I attended a brunch which featured tiny breakfast and the review and my cheeks hurt from laughing! They were absolutely fantastic and from the sounds of it, they have plans to do more with the space. Looking forward to going back!
Great place! Show was sold out and was super good! It was our first time. Definitely will be back. Highly recommend! Drinks were mixed nice! Prices were right. Snacks are great to!
This place is amazing! Great space, great drinks and the cast does a great job engaging with the audience!
My husband and I went here for our anniversary and had an absolute blast at the Domo Arigato show. Such a great idea for an improv show. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. All the snacks were good and well priced (we’d know we missed dinner and then ordered almost the entire snack menu from here). The actors did a great job incorporating the audience. All were very clever, quick witted and entertaining! We wished the show was longer because we were having such a good time! Although we know an hour is a long time for the actors to improv haha. You can tell that this entire place has such a supportive, positive feel good vibe. We can not wait to come back for another show and we drove over an hour to come. Well worth the drive and the perfect night out! Keep up the great work guys the world needs more smiles and laughs :)
I took my wife here as a surprise date, and it was AMAZING!! We went to the improv later showing and everything was fun. Some of our suggestions we taken too! I’m telling all my friends about it and I can’t wait to go back again.
Booked the whole place for a 13 year olds party, it was AMAZING. My kids were still talking days later about how nice everyone was to them and the show was perfectly done for the age group.Cannot recommend this place enough for a party venue, adults and kids all had an amazing time! Will be back again.
Pretty cool experience, Bartender was great. The show was interesting, and funny, ive been to alot of comedy clubs and this ones deff worth checking out, completely different vibe. Also they dont hustle you over food and drinks like other clubs, huge plus
Excellent place, all around. They have all sorts of different themed comedy shows. We go to the Comedy Outlet Mondays gig. Best way to burn off steam on a Monday night.
First time coming to a show. It will not be the last! Funny from start to finish, with a welcoming environment. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The comedy project is a little project that plays a few days every week, and I love their comedy there. They have a genius dining system, where you write down your order, like chips and a water, and clip it on top of the stand on your sitting table, then they get the order for you. Theyre humor there is hilarious, and a cool thing happens every monday, where they take other comedians and let them on stage to do something funny, and I recommend you go there to get a good laugh, cause I guarantee youll get one.
Brought my daughter and we saw the early sketch show. It was a solid 80 minutes or more, so the cost of the ticket ($15 each) was worth it. Anything less and I dont know it would be worth that price. Many comedy clubs are about $10. But theyre trying to get their location remodeled and off the ground, so I get it.The talent was solid. The comedy was a mix of a few pre-taped video segments and sketch. For a city the size of GR, I was surprised at the talent. I think most people will enjoy the show. I was glad they didnt do too much toying with the audience, I am not a real fan of that, and its usually just filler for when a troupe doesnt have enough written material.I will be back, I want to see their improv.
Im so glad live performance is coming back, and Im especially glad The Comedy Project is up and running. Its a home away from home and a great place to learn improv. Everyone is respectful and knowledgeable about improv, and you are guaranteed to have a fantastic experience whether watching or performing
First time here and it was amazing. I will be coming back with more friends! I love that you can order food and drinks from your table too.
Fun show with good laughs. Good parking (although in back so hard to find initially). Good fun and worth the price. Eager to see the planned improvements of bar and food. Will definitely go back. Great alternative fun to do with friends rather just going to a bar.
What a super fun experience! Great cocktails and some good snacks with some very entertaining improv and performances! Super easy to order and all of the staff were so friendly! Highly recommend!
Comedy Outlet Monday was a blast (and a bargain). My fiancé and I stayed for the optional participation hour after the performance and got to perform with some of the comics we had just watched. Will definitely check out one of the house teams on a Friday or Saturday date night soon.Hope this new venue gets the attention (and attendance!) it deserves in the months and years to come.
Such a cool place! Went there with my work for improv training and we all had such a great time. Joe and his team are amazing and they truly care about your experience here. I now plan on going back to see some shows!
It was great! My mom works there and I have been to a few shows/rehearsals. U would recommend going there.
Very well laid out and smooth entry and flow. Love the ordering process. Great set looking forward to going back.
Started an improv class here a few weeks ago. Its been a lot of fun! Or teacher does a great job of creating a safe space to learn improv and Ryu practice it. Im glad I finally decided to sign up for a class.
Great comedy theater! They do a seasonal themed show that is excellent. Theres also comedy classes open to the public. Lovely improv comedy community. Check it out!
Sat front row and enjoyed every minute. Literally a laugh a minute. Fans of whose line will be right at home with the fast paced laughs that just keep coming.
The wife, myself, and two friends came out to see their Friday night Battle Bots improv show. The show was professional and very well balanced. Brought me to tears a few times. Beautiful venue, and just overall a lovely time to be had.
Ha! This place is laughable! I thought they outlawed comedy in Grand Rapids. With the forcible dismantling of Dr. Grins and its death trap staircase I thought we were close to being a drunken staircase death free town. But then these guys roll in like they are just here to take over right where the Gilmore group left off. God help us if they build a second floor. 5 stars.
Had an awesome time at the Comedy Project. The show was hilarious, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food and drinks were great. We will be back!
My wife and I came to see the Comedy Projects Laughfest show. It was extremely fun and intellectually clever. The cast performed an amazing improv performance that lasted about and hour and a half. If you are looking for entertainment in the Grand Rapids area I would highly recommend checking out a show.
My boyfriend and i were just visiting from out of town and we found this gem. 11/10 would recommend i laughed so hard my face hurt. one of the funniest improv shows i’ve ever been to. great drinks, great food, great people!!
I was very excited to visit a new comedy club in town that I ASSUMED (my first mistake) would be entirely run by robots. To my dismay, I have since discovered that this venue is staffed by actual, caring, fleshy humans with real feelings and ambitions.I ASSUMED (my second mistake) that parking would be sparse due to the popular area and ended up spending $11 on a Lyft, only to discover that there is a bountiful parking lot behind the venue. I expect reimbursement from the owners. The location is conveniently set near the perfect intersection of Leonard Street’s greatest hits: Long Road Distillers, Mitten Brewing, 2 Scotts Barbecue, and a Taco Bell.I adhere to a rigid schedule and love consistency. I usually enjoy taking in syndicated reruns and eating the same flavor of Lean Cuisine after a long day at the office. Unfortunately, this venue seems to be putting out an enormous variety of shows that seem to appeal to an enormous variety of people. No thank you!I’d like to finish this review by remarking on how the rewards for the Kickstarter campaign were exactly what I expected. When I first contributed I selected an XXL size for the shirt but have since moved into XL territory (my third and final mistake). I really wish the owners had anticipated that. I bet robots would have!
Wife and I went not knowing what to expect. The cast did short skits like SNL does but 1000% funnier than anything I’ve seen on SNL in many years. The show was absolutely hilarious! haven’t laughed that hard in a long time!!!! We’re definitely going back!!
Awesome skit show! Hilarious cast and fun setup. Last time was more skit, this time is more improv. Love both and cant wait until the next show!
This was our first experience at the Comedy Project and it was a ton of fun. Highly recommended. The interaction with the audience was fantastic.
Top notch performances every time I go! Good drinks and snacks, hilarious improv and sketch shows, and run by passionate and kind people. Cant wait to go back!
Haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time! Was a GREAT way to start a much needed vacation!!! Thanks for the laughs! Will definitely be back sometime!
This was a blast! My fiancé was bombed and kept suggesting the worst things she could think of, but the actors rolled with it and gave a great show! I will definitely be back
The comedy sketch was the same vibe as a minion meme on Facebook/bandkid humor. Although, if you like that sort of humor then this place is for you, for me it was hard to sit through. Decent acting from the stage crew, but the jokes could use some constructive criticism and refinement.
Everyone was inviting and nice, service was great, drinks were weak. Comedy was too on a Monday night when I rolled through from Detroit, I give all comedians that night many props for getting on stage.
We didnt know what to expect but we didnt stop laughing the whole show. Not to mention the staff was extremely friendly and a bonus they have adult drinks. Cant wait to come back!
Being a bit of a country bumpkin, I had just run into town with my inorganic companions to pick up some power converters. See, I was done with all my chores so I thought a bit of time wasting was in order. Well we got to Tosche Station, it’s kind of hidden back behind Long Road Distillery, and the three of us went into Tosche Station, and the proprietor scowled at us and said, “We don’t serve their type in here!”.So I said, “Dude. It’s 2019. Come on.”The guy waves me off and says, “Try The Comedy Project across the street. They’ve got a weird robot fetish…or something. I don’t get it.”Well say no more! A wink’s as good as a nudge to a blind bat. And the four of us, plus my little dog, K9, started down the side walk toward The Comedy Project. It was easy enough to find, and my stress level was instantly lowered as I walked through the parking lot. See. I have no problem parking on the street. I really think it’s quite easy, but some of the people, well the only people, or person, that I shared a home with for the last 28 years, can’t parallel park. So usually if I try to go somewhere in town, well, that means parallel parking, but not here! The Comedy Project has a lot. So, screw you BOB. I’m going somewhere that has a robot fetish, serves my inorganic companions’ type, and I don’t have to parallel park the car for my wife! So, we walk inside and all I want to say is, “My God. It’s full of stars.” It really isn’t, but I’ve just been thinking about great Kubrick films lately. Then I see it. Lot’s of flashing lights, buttons, and gizmos. Yes, the box office has gizmos and gadgets a plenty, but no mermaids. I’m looking at this contraption and ask, “What is it?”The nice box office attendant informs me that it’s a historical artifact from Egypt and if you align the glyphs properly it opens a portal to a desert world where you can get the spice Melange, or a desert world were you and James Spader can eat something that tastes just like chicken. I’m a little disappointed because it doesn’t open a portal to a dessert world, but then the attendant tells me that they were only kidding and it’s a railroad simulator. Sweet. Then I see it. Well I see something better than it, because I already saw it with the railroad simulator. And what’s better than a railroad simulator? That’s right a mother F-ing bar.So, I’m going to put this stream of consciousness vomit spew to bed and summarize. The Comedy Project has it all. Parking, Trains, and Alcohol…and sketch comedy…and improv…but most importantly, they have a robot fetish…but no portals to dessert worlds. So I guess they don’t really have it all, but almost all.Epilogue: The unknown future rolls toward us. I face it for the first time with a sense of hope, because if a machine, a robot, can learn the value of laughter, maybe we can too.
The improv was pretty darn good. Most of not all of the actors were very quick with good comedy skits. Not to mention baked pretzels and beer. Had fun evening.
Loved this!!! Great date night. Lots of laughs and fun people.
Enjoyed the 7:00 show on a Saturday night. Fast-paced sketch & improv show with dynamic cast. Laughed so hard & talked about it all night. Easy parking and within one block there are bars & restaurants.
Excellent sketch and Improv shows. Now featuring a bar with snacks. They also host classes for Improv, comedic acting, and sketch writing. A great addition to the growing culture of West Grand Rapids.
Enjoyable venture for an evening out. They have a fully stocked beverage bar and lounge. We left feeling well entertained for the small price.
First time ever being here. Didnt realize this place even exsisted and its close to my house. Clean, and good service. The act tonight was pretty funny. Def will be commin back.
Great shows, awesome songs, great host. We will definitely return! We recommend this to anyone looking for great comedy at a reasonable price.
Cool place. Attended a comedy show with a small group. Show was funny, drink service was pretty good.
My wife and it went to the Christmas show they had. It was mildly funny. Performances were pretty good, but the humor was just not gut busting hilarious like Ive had at comedy shows in the past.
Amazing show and what a wonderful staff. Cant wait to go again!!
So much funThe crew was hilarious and witty.
Majorly talented people running this, opening soon in Grand Rapids. A great new venue, can’t wait to have a super fun night out.
What a hoot. We saw their holiday comedy project and it was hilarious. I dont live in the state but I would recommend it and I will be back for more of their shows.
