A Disappointing and Unstructured MassageI recently booked a 2-hour massage for $140, expecting a relaxing and rejuvenating experience based on their impressive 4.8-star rating. Unfortunately, my session with therapist Nicole was the most uncomfortable and disjointed massage I’ve ever received.From the start, the massage lacked any sense of structure or consistency. Nicoles technique was all over the place: she would massage my head for 10 seconds, then abruptly switch to my shoulder for another 10 seconds, before moving to my glutes for a prolonged 10 minutes. This erratic pattern continued throughout the session. At one point, she lightly massaged my right foot, walked away, touched my back for a brief moment, and then pushed down on my calf for just 5 seconds. It felt like there was no rhythm or flow, making it impossible to relax.To make matters worse, Nicoles hands were often off me for extended periods, sometimes up to a minute. This left me wondering what she was doing and feeling increasingly anxious and uncomfortable. She seemed distracted and unattentive, and her frequent handling of the sheet—constantly flapping it for no apparent reason— and walk around the bed added to the overall awkwardness.I was drawn to Island Therapy by their glowing reviews, but this experience left me puzzled and dissatisfied. It appears that other clients might have been luckier with their therapists. Unfortunately, my session with Nicole was far from the calming and therapeutic experience I was hoping for.If youre considering a massage here, I strongly recommend ensuring you get a more structured and focused therapist. My experience was far from what I expected, and I left feeling more stressed than when I arrived. 2 stars is for parking and friendly greeting they had.

Thank you very much for the massage. My mother really enjoyed it and she said it really relaxed her body. I quote Ive never felt a massage quite like this before! My mom had a minor stroke on her left side and she was recommended to have a deep tissue massage and this is how i found Island Therapy Massage, because of the reviews on Google and Yelp, i thought we should check it out and we are here for the second time. Thats how good the massages are. Her massager, Sandi, did a thorough massage of her whole body.Island Therapy is located on the 2nd floor, there is no elevator, but a nice wide stairs. You will need to knock once youre at the door to inform the ladies that youre here. There are 3 rooms for the massage sessions. A bathroom is also available. If youre a first time client, you will need to fill out a form. Basic questions, and you can let them know of areas that you dont want them to massage.The rates are:$65/60 mins$90/90 mins$130/120 mins$40/30 mins(Plus taxes)Always good to arrive early so that way you can prepare yourself for the massage session. Filling paperwork, taking your clothes off (or leave it on), and getting yourself situated for the massage session.There is free parking in the front of the building. The buidling is like a hidden little gem, so you will need to actually be on the lookout when youre driving down Queen St. if youre not familiar with the area.I highly recommend Island Rherapy massage to anyone who needs a massage.

The absolute best massage I’ve had in a very long time. Location a bit odd, but was safe, and that massage/price could NOT be beat.

I wouldnt go expecting a ton of frills, but the staff are wonderful, the massage was fantastic. The location was a bit sketchy.

I requested an appointment online the night before and heard from someone around 8 a.m. the next day. Its located on Young Street which can be kind of rough but the building is secure with three free guest parking stalls. I was greeted by Mai, whos very sweet and friendly, and the best masseuse! I got a 90 minute massage for $105 (not including tip). I think it was the massage Ive ever had. It included hot stones, cupping, and I think a muscle scraper. It was 10/10. Cant wait to go back.

I’ve had Tim and Lama as well for massage. Both did an amazing job and were very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend! Both of them are also extremely nice. Maria, the owner, was really nice as well and very helpful. Zero complaints. :) if you have pain you need help manage with massage therapy, this is a very good option!

Lama was sooo awesome! Very friendly and professional. His massage was by far the best one I’ve ever gotten.I never had a male massage therapist work on and I have to say he was beyond professional and his techniques were so good. I left there floating.The place is very clean and cozy. If I could give 100 stars, I would. Definitely coming back!

Truly, the best massage Ive ever received. Maria was so concerned with pressure, air temperature, and trigger points. She focused on what my individual body needs (scapular muscles). She is extremely talented in healing your body if you feel tight in some areas. I cant recommend this place enough. And Ive gone to more than 7-8 different places all over SoCal. Island Therapy beats them all.

Maria was great! She was so relaxing to chat with and I enjoyed the massage very much. The whole place is clean and well kept. Free and easy parking.

I have never had a bad massage here. Always an easy experience making a reservation. They recently moved. The new place has slightly better parking.

My wife and I had a great experience, after we left, we both said it was by far the best massage we had ever had. I was suffering from neck pain and my wife had back pain from just having a baby. They were able to accommodate both of our needs and pinpoint what was causing our pain to help alleviate the pressure. They would occasionally ask how the pressure was and encouraged us to inform them on specific locations we wanted them to focus on. We will definitely be going back because of the great experience we had at an affordable price.

I absolutely love getting a massage here. All the therapists are fully licensed and do an amazing job. You can choose of you want male or female and also the type of massage you want, spa like to deep tissue. The location is good, off of Queens St. There is also free parking and bathroom on site

The massage I received by Maria was the best message I have personally experienced.My reason for going in was that my back had been hurting. After my session, my back felt so much better.I contacted Island Therapy through their website and received a quick response back from the owner of Island Therapy, Maria.Not only did I appreciate the quick response, but she was able to take me in the next day, which is what I had requested.Location: There’s a big sign outside that says “Island Therapy”, you can’t miss it! There are a couple parking stalls in the front that says “customer parking”. The business itself, is located on the 2nd floor. Just walk to the back of the building and you will see a staircase that leads up to it.It’s a cute place and the room where I received my massage was very calming and tranquil with nice soothing music. I also appreciated the artwork located on the walls and on the ceiling. It provided me with an extra relaxing experience.I absolutely loved Maria and my massage. She made me feel so comfortable. She checked on me a few times to make sure the pressure was good, which I really appreciated. She has very strong hands, which helped my back and neck a lot.I will definitely be returning for future massages. Thank you Maria for a great experience!

My first massage and I will definitely go back. The room was nice and dark, I loved the lavender smell, and the soothing music. I had an awesome experience. Maria did a great job it was a little sore on my arms and back, but a good sore. I left feeling relaxed and pain free...

The actual massage was great (deserves 5 stars), but the lady who gave the massage said some really hurtful things. This was my first massage and I was already nervous about it because of some side effects of a disease I have. I am really self conscious about my body because of it. But I was in a lot of pain and I convinced myself it wouldnt be an issue, that she was a professional. It was an issue. She thought she was being helpful when she told me that unless I get the problem fixed, I would never get married. That no man would want me the way I am. I did everything in my power to minimize the issue before my appointment and it still wasnt enough. Instead of being a relaxing experience I spent about 30 minutes trying not to cry as she went on and on about it. Ive spent years trying to convince myself that I am worth something despite the issues I have and this experience pretty much ruined all that work. She was brutally honest. Needless to say, after this experience, I wont ever be getting a massage again.Update: Maria called me and apologized for her employees words. She also offered to personally give me a free massage, which I declined because I am not comfortable being that exposed again. But I wanted to update my review to let people know that I still think this would be a great place for people to get a massage. My message therapist was not trying to be rude. It was kind of like when your grandma gives you unwanted advice or is a little too blunt. I dont want them losing any business because of my situation. My experience doesnt represent the normal one at this business.

I had a gift certificate to get a massage from Maria and it was the best massage I ever had. Maria was very professional yet she made me feel totally comfortable. The massage was so great that I scheduled another appointment for a week later. I will definitely be referring Maria to my friends and family.

This place is top notch for massages and the prices are very good. Very professional, wonderful at getting you in even on short notice and the massages are very good no matter who you get. I personally work with Maria most often and shes wonderful. This is not Spa Envy and that is why I love it. I did not want candles and fluff (although the atmosphere at Island Therapy is just as calm and welcoming) I wanted help with a chronic condition and massage is the ONLY way to ease my pains and make them vanish. Look no further than this company if you want true relief from injury or just a relaxing, professional massage. Highly recommended!!!

Went for a couples massage and it was AMAZING! After a long plane ride we were in need of a good massage. Only regret was not coming in sooner, because we’ll be headed back home tomorrow. Wonderful experience, you can feel immediate relief where pain was, and the therapists also demonstrated what to do at home to subside the pain. Super impressed!

Great massage experience! I received text and calls to verify my appointment the day prior and to make sure I found the location without issues. The business may be overlooked because it is on the top of a church but there are signs for it so you know you’re in the right spot! The facility was clean and and the staff was friendly and prompt! Debbie did my massage and I swear there was witchcraft involved because she picked up on the sources of pains I’ve had for a year and knew exactly what had caused them and how long they had been there just by feeling them! Debbie was extremely experienced and I felt great at the end! I can’t wait to go back and have her fix me some more! The price is also very fair, I could leave a good tip and not feel like I couldn’t afford to go back for awhile.

I needed a massage so badly. I filled out the online request and they contacted immediately and were able to fit me in on same day. First visit here and I scheduled a 2hr massage . DEBBIE was my masseuse and OMG was she 👏 A-MA-ZING ! The room was inviting, clean and music was tranquil. She asked what areas I wanted to work on and she did JUST THAT... she truly listened to my request (most massage therapist dont listen they follow their own routine) Debbie LISTENED . She was able to locate my trouble areas and truly get deep into my back for trigger point issues I suffer with. She was determined to make my time on her table WORTH IT and I truly appreciate that. She was able to schedule me the day I called, which was greatly appreciated because I was suffering from back pains and the usual wear and tear body ailments. It was the BEST massage Ive experienced. My husband and I just moved to the area. We like having regular massages so I looked on YELP and found Island Therapy close by with many 5 stars reviews. Their prices were very reasonable. We booked a couples massage. Derilyn was my husbands massage therapist and Debbie was my therapist. All the therapists including the owner, Maria, were very welcoming and friendly. The room was small for two massage tables, but comfortable for us. I was disappointed that the tables did not have a heat option though. My husband really enjoyed his massage with Derilyn. He told me his massage was very relaxing and that Derilyn did a wonderful job on his neck. He would like to go back. My massage with Debbie was not as relaxing as my husbands. Debbie felt I needed deeper pressure to release the tightness in my back and shoulders. I had asked for 3 out of 5 pressure level, but she said my back was so tight. She asked if she can apply more pressure. I said yes, but next time I go, I will stick with a level 3 pressure. Her handling of my body when positioning me was rougher than Im used. The massage was painful overall. I didnt stop her because I figured maybe the deep pressure is what I needed like she said. I could tell her genuine intention was to help open up my back muscles. I dont think a deep massage is for me. Two days later and my back is still a little sore from the massage, so I honestly cant say if my back muscles loosened up. Debbie has strong hands, so if you like a really deep massage, she will get the job done. I would go back to Island Therapy because the therapists are nice and my husband enjoyed his massage, but next time, I would stick with a level 3 out of 5 pressure.

My wife and I received a gift of a massage from our son and daughter-in-law. We both had a wonderful, relaxing experience. The massage therapists paid attention to our requests and tailored their treatments accordingly. We highly recommend Island Therapy and would happily return on our next trip to Honolulu.

Maria at Island Therapy is an excellent masseuse, as well as its owner-operator. Every few months I allow myself the lavish luxury of treatment by her expert hands. She knows the power of her touch and asks first before applying its full measure. Sometimes I glimpse the stress shes under: focusing on her clients care, while ensuring future appointment requests and staffing needs are met deftly. I always feel like an honored guest at her salon and healed when I leave.

I have been talking about getting a massage for over 2 years. I was free one afternoon and I just decided to pull the trigger and do it. I called and the owner Maria was kind enough to squeeze me in within an hour. I only had time for a 30 minute massage, but it was seriously life changing. I have knots and crunchiness that I had just accepted were never going away in my shoulders and neck.... like MAGIC they are almost all gone. I have had trouble with my thumbs, forearms and back and seen many surgeons, physical therapists and occupational therapists, yet Darylynn at Island Therapy has helped me the most. She is an amazing massage therapist and has taught me skills I can use myself to help me decrease my pain significantly. She really understands the body and her massages are a little piece of heaven. She listens to her clients requests and integrates it into her practice! Best investment ever!

I wanted to make a last minute appt for a massage on a Friday. Maria was very responsive and accomodating of my schedule. Inwas scheduled to see Debbie. She gave me a massage which I 100% enjoyed. She checked in to make sure the preasure was okay. Debbie was such a pleasant person to be around! I usually get massages once a year,but I may now make an effort to go more often!

Maria is great...she returns calls promptly if she is unable to answer the phone. I love that the hours of operation work with my hectic schedule and I also appreciate the appointment confirmation via text. I had so much tension in my upper back as well as shoulder pain that I didnt realize just how sore the rest of my body was. Ali is absolutely amazing...she worked out all of the tension and knots. I needed a few appointments to tackle all of my problem areas and am now to the point of going in for monthly maintenance. I used to go to spas for massages but the pain never really went away until Ali worked her magic. I highly recommend that you contact Maria for an appointment. You will not regret it.

Im not one to write reviews however this was hands down the best massage Ive ever had. Being a massage therapist myself, I can be a bit needy when it comes to receiving massages but Debbie blew any expectations out of the park. The office was clean, quite and friendly. Highly recommended, and definitely will only be coming here for future massages!

This was hands down the best massage I have ever received and will definitely visit Maria again on my next trip, I highly recommend her massage services.

Just experienced an amazing massage with Lama at Island Therapy. My massage focused on tight muscles and he did a fantastic job working out the knots and also gave me valuable daily suggestions for stretching when I got home. Lama checked in with me periodically concerning the pressure he was using. He is definitely someone you want to visit over and over again. Lama is a master. Overall, I found the session to be both tranquil and spiritual, especially with the soft Hawaiian music in the background.

She is so professional and so sweet! Very experienced and no awkwardness. Even after the appointment was finished she spent a few minutes giving us tips for stretches to do at home and looked at pictures of our baby! If we lived here, we would definitely go back!

Debbie is awesome!! So sweet. Massage was one of the best I had ever. My back was feeling so exhausted from work, but this was just what I needed. I am here for work and found Island Therapy via google search for a place to get a massage near my hotel. I booked an apt because of the great reviews the place already had, and the prices being extremely reasonable. My massage was excellent and I still felt so good the next day as well. I will mention, the building is easy to miss, at least I did a few times but I am so happy to have found it and will be going back before the end of my trip.

I had the worst stressed muscles ever and just flew in. They took me as a walk in and I’m so grateful. The experience was amazing! I did a 90min massage and OMG it was SO super affordable and easy it was one of the best massage experiences I’ve ever had! Thank you!

I had thrown out my lower back and was in a lot of pain. I went to the chiropractor but would need several additional adjustments. I called Island Therapy praying they would have an appointment the next day, to my surprise and relief, they fit me in immediately. Darilyn was my therapist and she is a miracle worker. Keep in mind this isn’t a spa, it’s intense therapeutic massage. Darilyn is very experienced and I left with almost no pain. She’s my new best friend! I will be going back soon.

I have a ton of back problems and therefore have some extra scar tissue and built up muscle around my spine. My chiropractor recommended a deep tissue massage to help break all that down. Island therapy did exactly what I needed. It hurt but I could tell she really got in there and broke some things down. The next day my adjustment at my chiropractor was one of the best I had! Highly recommend!!

I recently had a 90 minute swedish massage. The massage was great. This was my first time trying this company. My massage therapist talked me through it and made sure i was comfortable with everything. She greeted me very happily and answered all my questions prior to getting started. Heres a Tip- come at least 15 minutes early to get settled in. I.e, use restroom, turn off your phone, ask any questions. Because If they are busy, thatll cut into your massage time.The office and room settings was great too. Very clean and professional. I have a hard time getting comfortable if the setting isnt right . At Island therapy the windows were all closed, the lights were dim and there was soothing music playing throughout the massage. Also you are covered with a sheet or blanket and the therapist only exposes what they need to work on . Ive been to some other places where its the opposite of that and thats kinda weird for me. I really like how they do things at island therapy. My therapist also gave me some stretches I can do at home to help with my back issues. My mom surprised me with a massage because my shoulders and neck was in a lot of pain. Darilyn gave me the massage and i absolutely loved her. shes very sweet and makes you very comfortable. She always reassures you and asks how youre feeling and if shes hurting you or being too rough. i would highly recommend island therapy!

This was my first visit. The studio is small but welcoming and relaxed. Maria was wonderful. During the massage I could feel my tight muscles letting go. I will definitely be back.

I asked for a 90 minute session and what areas to concentrate on. I was fried from snorkeling and she suggested against a massage lol. Who turns down business? But I told her Id sign a waiver and she did a very firm but light session. Thank you for being honest about the sunburn. Yes iv would highly recommend them. If youre lucky you can jamm out to the Russian Church connected to the business 😂. Great service and price I hope youre still around the next time I visit.~Roy B

The lady that worked on me was STRONG! She made sure to pay extra attentIon to my shoulder blades and all the knots in my neck and arms. The older korean lady is amazing ( no idea of her age ) but her hands are strong as pliers . She cracks me up . Told her you got very strong hands her come back “ no you got very weak body lol. I’m prety fit ( still can do over 25 push up with one hand ) . Anyway not only you get a massage of your life time but you get a lots of wisdom from a lady that seen a lot on her life . She will work you though lol, but its worth every agonizing second to be able walk out of there feeling 100x better than when you walked in. I was injured at work and needed relief by means of a deep tissue massage. I called on a Sunday morning and was later seen that afternoon. Stephanie was very knowledgeable about the type of injury i sustained therefore was able to treat my condition. Clean, professional, and highly-skilled. The next day the pain and limited range of motion improved greatly.

I was able to get an appointment for the same day that I called, which was great because I was in pain!Maria was very accommodating, the room & music was very nice, & the massage was awesome!

Had very tight muscles in my neck and shoulders, which made it difficult and painful to turn my head. Went to Island Therapy and came out feeling much better. Over the next two days, I felt even better.

Price was reasonable $90 for 90 minutes. Have a frozen shoulder and Sandy did great job of loosening up.
