Weve never had Nicaraguan food before, but wow, were glad we tried it!!! Everything was amazing-- so flavorful and large portions. We thought for sure wed have leftovers, but we cleaned our plates :) The restaurant is a bit out-of-the-way, but you wont regret making the trip. The margaritas were also fantastic and 1/2 the price of a typical drink in Madison. Well definitely be back!!
Highly recommend if your looking for a great spot to come and have a good time with your friends featuring local DJs and entertainment Wednesday-Sunday!They have a great food selection during the day until 8PM too!-I usually go on Thursdays for Latin Night that caters to all crowds & Fridays they have various themes every week - love the atmosphere and full bar service they have available. Customer service is also 5 stars!
Despite what the restaurant advertises they DO NOT serve papusas, which was literally the only reason we came here. Ordered the carne asado instead, and it was mediocre at best. Meat tough, rice bland and the plantain chips pretty awful. Dont recommend. Atmosphere is also kind of depressing to be honest.
An amazing new addition to Madison. You must go here to order their delicious Mexican food. I had the chili Quiles my husband had a steak burrito and they were amazingly authentic. Let’s help make this place work. We’re coming back for taco Tuesday nights .. The owner Patricia was extremely helpful and friendly. This will be our go to for Mexican food
CLOSES AT 8P!I was sad the first couple times before I found that out and thought I might never get to try Patricias. Finally had the pleasure to check it out today. Renovations are ongoing but the food was on point. Anything pollo seems to be the specialty but everything was really good. Enjoyed the nachos asada, taco pollo, and tripe taco, horchata. Everything was good. Thanks for the fast service. Will eat here often.
Management changed. There was a mixed crowd. There was a salsa band, but the woman singing was very off-key. It was extremely hot!!! Fans were unplugged. I believe they turned up the heat to make people buy more alcohol. However, I noticed that people were buying more water instead (like me) to stay hydrated. I will have alcohol drinks if I feel comfortable. We left around 12:30 am instead of staying until 02:00 am (like usual) because it was way too hot!!!!!
New place, just opened not even two weeks ago. Staff is absolutely adorable; everyone is so kind. If you’re like me and have little no Spanish speaking ability then this is a good place to go! Authentic FRESH tasty food. Staff speaks English very well so it’s easy for anyone to order. The building is very clean. Grocery selection is a little small right now but will probably grow over time as business picks up but the vegetables they had were all healthy and gorgeous.I’ve only had a few thing a from them. The tamales have excellent flavor and come in a variety of fillings. They have a little heat but not too much. They were also made fresh! The outside of the building still looks the old Farm restaurant but don’t be fooled, there’s a hidden treasure right here!
Fantastic tacos and beans! The people were very friendly and the palace was super clean. The produce seemed extremely high quality too. I only picked up a few snacks from the store side, but cant wait to go back!My only suggestion is that the rice could use a little more seasoning or flavor somehow. Otherwise, 5/5!
It was a Saturday evening and the place was empty. I should have known better, but decided to go against my gut feeling and trust people’s reviews of this place. We came to try out a new Honduran Restaurant and we’re excited to try it. Unfortunately it seemed like the cook was not in cause the server and Bar tender were the ones to make our food. The baleadas looked like they made it in the fly. The flour tortillas did not taste good. The Popusas had no taste, and were not properly cooked and used the wrong ingredients, the only thing I kind of enjoyed were the tajadas de pollo, but the fried chicken tasted like they used last week’s cooking oil. To topIt off, when I went to pay, I was in shock to find out they charged me $2 per cup for tap water. Although I left a 20% tip to the waiter and bar tender for their effort, my family and friends will not be returning. There is a reason why the place was empty.
We had a great time! Tacos are legit served with homemade salsa. Had refreshing pico de gallo, such a great in the middle of winter. It’s become a new regular spot for us!
Tacos & tamales are *fantastic.* Plus really good chorizo & great selection of Mexican groceries. Patricia & the crew are great. Butcher sometimes has their hands full when you come to order, so try to leave a little extra time & be polite.
Great food. seriously very great food. However the staff is a little under developed mentally and may need further education on basic social and work skills. Excellent food, seriously if you are looking for a good eat try here. But don’t order online or over the phone because if they don’t have one ingredient for one of your dish’s they’ll cancel your whole order without letting yk.
AWESOME food. Great drinks. AMAZING prices. Will be coming back again and again. If you’re looking for a great seafood Mexican food you will be highly impressed. There is so many great options.
Patricias has amazing Mexican Food. I love getting meat from their deli case and have yet to be disappointed. The cecina is phenomenal... the chicken fajitas are so flavorful and juicy, and the carne asada taco meat is like none Ive ever had. They even have rice and beans prepared for you to grab and heat up later.I go here 2x a week as I head out ice fishing and cant get enough!
So nice! Very sweet owners, great food, good prices, feels like being in Mexico. Full food menu to dine in or take out, breakfast to dinners. We ate here 2 days in a row!Great Mexican and beyond grocery selection. Feels like being in Mexico when shopping and eating here!
I read a good review on the newspaper and we decided to go for dinner.Amazing dinner. Place is immaculate clean and customer service by the owners is/was exceptional. We will go back many more times as long they keep it the same way which I think they will. You definitely should try.FYI there is also a Mexican grocery store inside which could be very dangerous buying the goodies :)
Ive had both tacos and the burrito here. Both are excellent. Tortillas are fresh and tasty. Get your tacos onion and cilantro style. If cilantro tastes like soap to you, blame your parents for passing you the wrong gene.
My favorite chorizo tacos in Madison—flavorful and moist, not the greasy kind that instantly soaks the tortilla and ruins your pants. The inside is still a little weird, but they’re working on it. So many TVs tho.
I’m from San Diego and have been looking for a favorite authentic Mexican food spot in town for years. Happened upon this spot and was very impressed, I think this may be my new go-to in town!Had long been a staunch supporter of Taqueria Guadalajara but love the space here as half restaurant half mercado. My wife and I bought chips and some of their homemade salsas and the salsas were fantastic! Finally, a spicy local salsa in town - the roja has some great heat! The verde has awesome flavor. Can’t wait to come back and try out their full menu (pic attached). The mercado was one of the cleanest, most well organized and stocked markets I’ve seen. Everything from fresh bread and veggies to canned goods and authentic seasonings. They also had carnicería options for take home and cook meals. Will absolutely be back for my Mexican food needs!
Went in tonight to pick up dinner. I got a steak burrito dinner, my husband got steak tacos and our son ordered chicken taco dinner. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back.We also bought some grocery items and different things to try. I’m glad there is a local small business close by to pick up staples for cooking dinners.
Patricia’s Taqueria has the best selection of mexican groceries and has everything you need! I love coming here and the food is SO GOOD! The chicken tamales are amazing and so is there selection of salsas. 10/10!!
Went to Patricias last night for the first time. Wanted to try out the new taqueria. I got the taco dinner (3 tacos + rice & beans). The tacos are like street tacos on crack--they had a VERY generous serving of meat. I got steak and chicken tacos. Steak was amazing. Chicken was also amazing although Im personally not a huge fan of shredded chicken. My small group ate in the little dining area, which was clean and tidy, as is the rest of the store. Service was outstanding. All the workers were so damn friendly to our little group. They also have a rewards program (punch card) for both a dinner and 3 tacos plate wherein if you purchase 9 of those things, the 10th is free. I finished my visit by picking up some Mexican sweets (principes and triki trakes). Note a $5 credit card minimum. Overall, this place was outstanding and I will certainly be back.
Had dinner tacos dinner and steak burrito. The taco dinner is 3 tacos with your choice of meats. The best one was chicken. Pork and steak were the next best. The steak burrito was equally good. The hot sauce complimented both of these dishes. The restaurant has grocery store as well. Nice little mom-pop shop. Would visit again.
Best new place- great location. I wish I knew Spanish and am trying to learn- but still even with my limited skills, there is always someone around able to help me and so kind and ready to answer questions. So you have the grocer side, and then the little restaurant side- if you havent tried one or the other sides of the business- you gotta! You can get either a full dinner to go on the restaurant side- or things to take home and prepare yourself from the case or grocer. People are so cool there -and it is all a good selection and quality and price...I go here once a week now. I get the fajita peppers n meat from the case by the pound- and turn it into tacos/fajitas/etc. Always fresh and perfectly pre-seasoned and delicious!! Fresh little produce section is perfect too -even a giant aloe leaf you can use for home-made face masks/hair masks etc or for sunburns in the summer I will be sure to grab one... this place is doing it RIGHT
Best mexican food Ive had in Madison let alone anywhere in Wisconsin. We got personally served by Patricia herself and the cook brought out our classic asada tacos with cilantro and onions. The steak was Soo flavorful, the beans were authentic, the sauces had a kick and was majorly on point! The shredded chicken in the burrito was flavorful and cooked to perfection... soo juicy and moist! Im soo happy to of found this place and will be back again, to try all thier dishes!Another great note: I got all this around 9am which is normally breakfast time. So its great to get off third shift and not be stuck with breakfast foods.
Great food and attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff
Really disappointed. The tacos were mediocre; very dry.The margarita tasted like soap. Not drinkable. I don’t even think there was tequila in it.Would not go back.
Three reasons why this small market and restaurant is one of the best places Ive ever eaten in Madison.1. Service - the folks who work there are genuinely kind and seem to enjoy what theyre doing2. Quality - best tacos in Madison. Period. Also, they have the ingredients to make your own authentic hispanic foods.3. Location - very close to home. Need milk? just a walk away. Couldnt ask for a better situation than this neighborhood market.Give them your business. Its what this community needs.
Patricias has amazing tacos! Service is fast and no frills, but very good traditional tacos with huge servings. My favorites are the steak and chorizo.
What a great place.Authentic and delicious!Looks like just a bar from the exterior, dont let this fool you. Family friendly.Truly enjoyed.
This place is a big NO NO. Baleadas and pupusas are disgusting!! if you are looking a place to try baleadas or honduran food don’t even bother trying this place. Service is no that great and what make me more upset is that they even charge you for tap water!! What a joke!! eakwww!
Some of the best tacos in Madison, and right off the Capital City Trail. Take a ride to Patricias and eat some great food on the lawn or bike a bit farther and picnic at Lake Farm or Capital Springs Park. YUM.
When they first opened they had good customer service but now it is HORRIBLE! I had a coupon from the newspaper for 2 free tacos and the cashier said they were no longer valid, despite it not having any expiration date. Also she said it is only valid for certain types of tacos, which the coupon does not mention either. The menu shows that all tacos are $2.95, but the tacos I ordered rang up at $3.49 and the cashier said certain tacos are more expensive. If the menu stated that it would be fine, but it doesnt say anything about that. They were poorly stocked and out of things that I went there for. After dealing with such a rude cashier and poor quality of the food I will not be doing business here ever again.
MY GOD. THAT BURRITO WAS BIGGER THAN MY HEAD!! Incredible food at great prices, and the attached grocery store is an added bonus! You really owe it to yourself to come check this place out! 😍
First decent burrito Ive had in Madison! Plus a great space inside. Will be coming back a lot.
Hands down the best tacos in Madison. The grocery side has a good selection of items you wont find at big grocery stores and everything at a very fair price
I love this place. Incredible food for reasonable prices and the grocery is small but curated really well. What a great addition to our community! Well done.
Amazing meal my family had and the staff was superior, even telling us where to find Tamales elsewhere in Madison.
Oooof this place is delicious. I’m in town from Denver CO and went here with my dad , and I can’t say enough about this place. So goooood. Top notch eats.
Bought x3 tacos. Delicious. Quick service, very friendly, fair price. Will go back.
Stopped by Patricia’s a second time returning from a trip. This time we had the opportunity to try some tacos. I read the reviews and was excited to try some. I tried the asada, cecina and chicharron. My son tackled some tacos Al Pastor … none disappointed but the cecina and asada stole the show. They were fantastic! Simple authentic Mexican food at its best! This will be a mandatory stop on any trip near Madison. I only wish we could get there more often.
Superb food! Weve stop by a couple times. We got some tamales this weekend and they are so good!
I made a stop here after a bike ride. Very yummy food at great prices. The store a great selection of Mexican spicea, candies and items including a tortilla maker.
Seems to be a new management, wasnt crowded as past weeks, dont really know why, but music was good 👍🏻 😊

Outstanding tacos and tamales! I cant wait to try other menu items.
We stopped by and the food was very good! Great food at a great price. There is also a variety of items in store which is a plus as well 😊
I love Mexican food and this place is in my top little hidden gems for Mexican food in Madison. I love this place.
Tacos were amazing!! Tamales….to much masa vs filling. Flavor is good… but have had better tamales!!!
Not as good as some of the other Taquerias in the area, but still incredibly solid and worth a try!
Best steak tacos I’ve had in Madison!! It’s a cool environment with great service.
Then I go to this place it looks like its pretty decent used to be a tavern there my storage units right next door so thats why it thinks I went there
The pico de gallo is absolutely delicious! Everyone i have met has been very friendly.

Best place!
What Nicaraguan and Nicaraguan food, it doesnt even have a taste, the roasted meat is burnt and salty and also the tip is demanding, very bad place to feel good 🤮🤮
They rushed me to leave the place quickly because they wanted the table for more people and the chairs were very uncomfortable, the people were very despotic. They dont have anything on the menu 😡
Excellent food with authentic Nicaraguan flavor and very good service, I recommend it!
The food is very BAD and not worth what they charge you!The papusas taste like pure fried dough. The seafood is just tomato with onion and garlic. The tacos are served with the minimum of meat! They pass! And then we had to ask the waiter for things several times because he forgot to bring everything, the worst thing is that we were the only table in the whole place. This place is only worth it to go dancing!
Food truly sucked. We ordered baleadas, pupusas and tajadas with chicken and were super disappointed. The quality of the food and the taste was the worst.
Very clean and excellent treatment by the staff!!The food is very delicious, the tamales and Menudo have a very good flavor.
Very good
Excellent place to find what you need for a good meal and the typical sweets of Mexico, excellent place
