Shamrock Bar & Grille

The bartender was super nice and made us these delicious mimosas that he described as Like a mimosa long island, very good and refreshing. Everyone we encountered was friendly and conversational.

A great bar to meet friends at, enjoy good food, or play some fun bar games and trivia. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff is helpful. Its clean, the bar is well stocked and the food is good quality bar food.

Decent gay bar in town. Not much activities and understandably it was a Sunday night.

Oftentimes it smells horrible, but after one of their strong drinks or two you get used to it. Natasha is great. I only want to be served by her!

Not a good first experience. That bartender with beard is not friendly. I am the one who paid and gave tip and yet he said thanks to my partner but not me. He’s snoopy. I ordered old fashioned and he asked me what kind. Oh well I just looked at him. Clearly I didn’t know so don’t assume that everyone is from Wisconsin. Instead of looking at me with a disappointed look, just explain the varieties. That’s your job. But the place is nice and the old fashioned (brandy) tasted good.

Under new ownership, this place no longer has annual problems with its liquor license. The mixed drinks are strong, but up cocktails are pricy, and not always good. Really good bar food, though... They make their own corned beef, and do a wonderful brunch on the weekends. Flirting with the wait staff has never been more fun!

The food was beautifully plated and quite tasty. Its not sophisticated food, but sometimes thats exactly what you want. I came for brunch and I plan to return. I also love the interior of the bar. Its very classic and comfortable. I came here for drinks once, and it was quite busy, and loud, but still very pleasant.

Best day ever at the Shamrock!!!! Aaron from Mankato and sweet Jake were amazing to us! Wonderful drinks..... Great friendly atmosphere... But the best part was the people who work there! We regretted having to leave to go to our prior engagement.... Will be back for more!!!!

This bar sucks, this one guy that came up to me, Julio César started touching his balls WHILE SERVING A DRINK! What type of nasty person does that?! I understand that this bar is that type but this is beyond nasty, you never know if you’ll be drinking this guys STD’s, 1/10

The food here is wonderful for brunch and the grill is open late. They do a good bar burger. The drinks are always well-made and never light on the alcohol. Ive never gone and left unsatisfied.

Great atmosphere and good prices on drinks, however the bartender in a Pink tank top, facial piercings and banana print hat not giving me all my change back when I ordered a drink in cash/ him trying to turn his back from me while counting REALLY ruined my mood here and I left immediately after because of it. Hope the extra dollar was worth it.

Our gay version of Cheers. Longtime anchor in Madison. Welcoming staff. Good food, brunch on the weekend, bar food evenings, fish fry on Fridays. Comfy place. Two crowds. Early happy hour. Then around 10 pm kids arrive. Former is quieter (unless RuPaul is on), latter had a DJ and can be fairly loud. Both are fun!

Over priced drinks. Had to go to bar to get menus. Had to go to bar to place order. Food took a while to get to us then we were never checked on during or after our meal. Good food though. My favorite thing about this place is their Geek Trivia Night on Tuesdays. I just wish the Quiz Master was a little louder. Its hard to hear her over the crowd of people

Staff is great, drinks are good and fairly priced. Brunch and dinner service is phenomenal - Eric and Bob tremendous cooks. The Shamrock is a small bar, but often acts like its a dance club.

I love their food and service ! Cook is awesome , bartender rocks and owner is attentive and quick to response right away to catering to any complaint! He takes care of his customers ! Prices are fair! Love their shamosas! Sunday breakfast!

Shamrock Bar and Grille is a local treasure with friendly staff and is an incredibly active institution within the LGBTQIA community. Happy Hour is as good as it gets with many locals and visitors stopping in to catch up, grab a bite, watch Jeopardy or play trivia or Euchre. In the evenings Thursday through Saturday it becomes much more of a gay club and is almost always packed with a decent mix but mostly young professionals and students and local DJ’s setting a youthful mood.

Poor service, guy in red shirt on 10-16-15 is a complete jerk. I spend money here every night of the week and he refused to fix a mistake when the bartender dumped our drinks. This is ridiculous considering he instantly assumed I wanted a free drink. I make plenty of money to pay for our drinks. Think of somewhere else when drinking. This place is bullshit.

Always a reliable stop for a good drink and crowd watching. Bartender Wes is still adorable! Bob has done a great job keeping this Madison staple alive and kicking!!

Long time staple of the Madison gay community. Immense improvement since Bob took over. Not always busy or packed with cute guys, but an excellent starting point and reliable good time.

I was banned from this bar not by the owner, but by a power tripping bartender, Tynan. He threatened me one night and after I told him to be careful what he said to me, he had me banned. This guy is dangerous and people should beware.

The Shamrock is a local treasure. AllTheir employees are wonderful and friendly. Gay brunch on Sunday is the best.

Very welcoming and progressive. But come on guys, whats with the 1990s box TVs? Maybe it adds charm and encourages people to actually interact.

My go to for a friendly beer, cocktail and a great burger. If you get a chance, try their fish fry on Fridays. AMAZING!

Bartenders are snobbish, and only pay attention to their friends, or who ever they are doing shots with. It reeks of piss and vomit, not sure how anyone can eat here. So disappointing.
