Goulds Salon Spa - Downtown

I was in from out of town and walked in hoping for some fresh color.Chandra did a consultation and despite my original ideas, she suggested a shadow root and low lights for my level 8 blond hair. She said that it needed some contrast to give depth.The result was amazing. Between the low lights and purple shampoo my hair was shiny and much healthier looking and the contrast made it pop.I highly recommend Chandra. She was so kind and an excellent colorist.I will definitely go see her again when in Memphis!

Linda and Isaac were wonderful for our deep tissue massages but we wanted the couples massage and on the website it makes you think it’s a room where you and your spouse can be together and that is not the case at all. It’s just a regular massage room and they don’t open the connecting doors until you both are on the tables and undressed which defeated the whole purpose of being able to talk to each other or even see each other before we closed our eyes for the massage. We picked the downtown Memphis location just for the couples experience otherwise we would’ve went somewhere closer to home in Mississippi. Anyways again our massage therapists were wonderful and made sure we were as comfortable as we could be and they showed us the utmost amount of hospitality

Had free time before I flight out and decided to take my wife for a massage. She was pleased but stated the following day she was a little sore. They had a great seating area for me with WiFi where I could work and catch up while my wife was being pampered. This was our second visit and it was an amazing experience both times.

Connor is the power broker of stylist. You will leave his chair looking and feeling like a winner.

Ariel at the front desk is so professional and friendly! Amanda who did my hair in an up-do for a wedding was also professional and friendly! I enjoyed my time and felt welcomed! If I ever come back to Memphis and need my hair done, this will definitely be the place I go to!!

Was in town for an event and needed a haircut. Saw the good reviews and booked with Thomas online before my flight and when I arrived I had a great conversation and haircut. Thomas was easy to talk with and did exactly as I hoped when cutting my hair. I recommend him to visitors and locals alike looking for a solid cut at a solid price point or a new barber who knows his way around clippers. Clean facility and easy to access location. Emma Vail is a Queen! I have avoided getting my hair done in Memphis because of some of the attitudes I have found at local salons.I took a chance and am I so glad I did.From the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Emma treated me like I was the most important person in the room.She saw what I wanted and said Bet!She was careful and meticulous and gave me the exact look I was going for.If you get the chance book some time with Emma. You will not regret it!

I havent been back there for many years. But Ive never had a bad experience. Connie if your out there, ck in and lets catch up girl!) Plus I need so real hair help-lol. Top notch, real players in that business. I trust Goulds for me and my lady!) Edit: Emma was late and rude. Told me have a seat not indicative of my Goulds. Emma was not only rude but constantly affixed to her phone. To top it off, she did not listen, she walked off about 7 inches too much. My gf cried. End. Please have management call me.

Ive gotten massages with Goulds for years. Got one recently and pretty sure the male massage therapist was high as a kite or EXTREMELY hung over. Not a good experience, which is shoking bc its usually always great.

Lester is the only barber in Memphis that I will allow to touch my hair. He is professional and can carry on a conversation and cut hair at the same!! I’ve not got one bad word to say about this place or Lester!

I just had to hop on here to leave a review. I had my hair cut and colored by Emma this morning, and this is the first time in my ENTIRE life that I have been 100% happy with the results. She took her time with my color and listened to everything I had voiced. She gave me exacrly what I wanted and my hair looks fabulous. I will definitely be returning ! Thank you. Emma!

Lester is my all time barber. I saw someone that had a really nice haircut and I asked them who cut their hair. It was Lester and now he cuts mine. Everybody is super nice when I walk in to and they always remember who I am. Thank you guys!!!

Goulds Downtown is very Professional, Courteous, Knowledgeable and have a Friendly Atmosphere. The Receptionists are very nice and Dawn, Renee and Stacey are the best

Goulds Downtown is wonderful. Cheerful & inviting. Lina is a great stylist & colorist. Always a great result. My weird hair would not take the pink shades we were going for in Sept. The staff works well together as 2 other colorists jumped in to review & assist, & Lina made sure I left with beautifully colored hair. Highly recommend.

I was very pleased with the service. I got what I asked for, Natalie understood what I wanted, and focused on only me, so I think that’s why it turned out so well. I asked for balayage with a trim, and we agreed upon the price before she began. Very nice stylist, clean salon, and she let me be silent (not talk/chit chat) when I wanted to be quiet. The color is beautiful, too. I’ll go back.

This place is so refreshing. Renee the hair stylist is always so sweet and professional. She is so prompt and doesnt take forever to complete your hair. The nail tech Rachell Patterson is amazing! She has your feet and hands looking good and feeling good. Her professionalism and happy spirit is so contagious! I love this location the best!

While our visit in Memphis we treated ourselves to some pampering. First of all Nathan did some magic manipulating it so my husband and I were both getting treatments at the same time. Mia gave us a fabulous massage. My husband had the deep tissue and I had the traditional massage both of us were so pleased and relaxed. She has magic hands and was fantastic! Rhianna who was the sweetest, gave me the best pedicure. Plus I really just enjoyed chatting with her, she was adorable. I cant forget to mention Tatiana and Maryanne working at the front desk. They were both so kind and Maryanne suggested the best restaurant for dinner. Pamper yourself at Goulds, they really treat you great! Thank you!

30 m neck and shoulder massage was good. But overall, I was very disappointed in the spa experience. Front desk was perfunctory. Granddaughter’s hair appointment was a total sham. William showed up 30 min late, spent 10 minutes curling her hair and walked off. For this she was charged the full amount. I was told they were totally booked for nail appointments. Turns out there were none because they don’t even have nail technicians. Front desk said, “Oh, we’re inderstaffed.”Facials were a tad rough, but okay. I think this location is dying a slow death.

Normally I visit the Cordova location and I’ve always had great experiences at Gould’s. However on my first visit to the downtown location, the massage therapist I saw, Nik, left a bad taste in my mouth about ever coming to this location again. I booked a relaxation massage but there was nothing relaxing about it. It was much too rough and when I got off the table, my entire body felt very stiff. In addition to that, he seemed to have an attitude which gave me the impression he did not want to perform my massage. The redeeming aspect of this experience was that the salon manager made some accommodations to compensate for my poor experience. If I do patronize this location again, I’ll certainly never book another service with Nik.

We went here for a mini spa day. My facial was great but my massage stood out even more. Barbara was awesome. Great energy and gave possibly the best massage Ive ever had. Highly recommend.

The salon is on the main floor with the outside looking in. I do love being able to see outside but it is also weird. The floors also kinda feel like they’re weak in places. But I love the salon being in an old historic building downtown!!!I love the downstairs spa area!!! It’s so nice to have the spacious area for the massage rooms and quiet area to retreat to. Was very nice.

It was the most lovely experience. When I arrived the guy on recepction was so gentle, invite to stay there and take all the services! Five minutes later I was with Ashley Pleasant, when she saw my son with the mask, she invited my son to be close to me, and pull a chair for him. She started to have the most funny conversation with my son and he started to laugh for first time in days. She took time to play with him, all the salon was soooo lovely. Great service, big heart in Gould’s Downtown Salon!

Welcoming and friendly staff! Had a 1 oclock appointment that I got there early for and Natalie, my stylist, got started with me early! All I wanted was a some highlights and thats all she did. There was no pressuring me to get any other services or buy product. I will definitely go back.

I enjoyed my experience from the time I walked through the door and I was greeted by Mrs. Jan.. the hospitality was great and my massage from Mr.Kevin was amazing.. I have one complaint and that’s the parking arrangements. Customers shouldnt have to pay 12.00 to park in a garage. I think Gould’s should waive all parking fees. On another note my experience was wonderful I will definitely return.

100% unprofessional. We were late (10 min, which we called them and let them know we were late— they did not inform us we would need to cancel) but the fact of us needing to reschedule or cancel once we got there was a big deal. I get the fact that there are other people behind us with appointments and it would put them behind, which we understood. It was the aftermath of the attitudes that was unacceptable. A woman in particular, Aleta Taylor, who was behind the counter was not friendly at all. Customer service is a big part of an experience, not just the service provided, and she needs to improve on those skills. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I went in just to have my dip powder removed. Even though the service was small, Angela paid so much attention to my nails and took so much care to make sure I was happy and comfortable. I really appreciate her attentiveness to me and care for my nails!

This is a great Salon in a really cool area. Its well-kept and clean, and The Stylist do a very good job. I enjoyed my haircut and the prices are very reasonable. Goulds always does a very good job at all of their locations.

Ariana did a great job on my hair and makeup! Reasonable prices, they accommodated my schedule request, and I was in and out in only an hour an a half! Also, love the new location.

I have seen a massage therapist for years but today I decided to try Goulds new downtown spa. Matt was my therapist and he did a wonderful job. It was my first time using a male massage therapist. If you are a female worried about being uncomfortable with a male therapist, dont be worried. Matt did a great job.

From out of state, made appointment before traveling. They followed up with text before appointment. Salon is very clean and all staff is super friendly. My hair stylist Elena, worked wonders. I highly recommend this salon.

I was a little intense about going to this place with all the mixed reviews online about various different things, but overall this place was a home run from the Mens Cut side. The feel was great with big over-sized chairs and the conversation were good too. Overall Great Price to. The only one tip i would have would be prepared to pay for parking if you dont live in the area.

Tried to get a haircut. Got there about 10min before my appointment and was told that the lady was almost done, but 45min later, she was still finishing up her previous client. The hours sound convenient if you live downtown, but wasting 30min of your evening past your appointment time isnt very convenient. Not waiting 30min past my appointment to try out someone new. Also, the other staff just hanging out didnt say anything to me nor offer water etc. Given that its not necessarily cheap, you can do way better for your $$$$.Update 4.17.18: The owner called me himself to investigate my one star review above, and he was very nice and worked to resolve the situation. Open to giving them another shot sometime, although I do have an appointment today elsewhere, so it may be a little bit. Updating to 2 stars for now. Open to further revision after giving them another chance.

A week ago, Jamia gave me the BEST relaxation massage! She was so kind before, during, and after. I booked the massage to get relaxed before a big exam. My only regret is that I didn’t book a few more massages during my trip! Now I know where and who to go to for a relaxing massage when I’m in Memphis. Thanks Jamia!

As a regular client, I was very displeased to have an anniversary day with my husband and have pedicures together relaxing. Rachelle and Fannie were superb! They are 2 professional employees who always make the day complete with their service! Unfortunately, as I am a regular, I have been listening to clients complain about message chairs not working while getting a pedicure for over a month! Really??? As I was on vacation for 10 days and scheduled a pedicure with my husband, thinking for sure that Goulds would be on top of things and have their message chairs working properly was NOT the case. There was no sit back, deep-kneading and rolling back message! Very disappointed that Goulds does not repair their equipment which should be top notched in a Spa at the Peabody Hotel!!

I go to this Spa & Salon for regular massages and hair cuts, and I truly enjoy every experience. Matt is the ultimate massage therapist and Nicole is a hair pro. The whole team is friendly and professional. I intend to keep going back, again and again.

Recently I was able to make a hair color change in this place, I really liked the attention. However, my hair was not completely fine, I had strands a little lighter, but the hairdresser informed me that I can go in a few weeks to retouch my color!

Had a good time at Goulds. This is the only location I have been to. I got body massage abd a murad facial. Only negative was that my masseuse was real stingy on the oil which made my massage a little frustrating.

Bikini waxer needs more training. Ive been getting Brazilian waxes for years and this was the absolute most painful and awful experience Ive ever had. Im new to Memphis from Atlanta where the person I used to go to is Brazilian and holds several licenses. The aesthetician here, though friendly and professional, it was clear that she could use more training- the strips were not pulled in an effective manner leaving some still applied to the skin which required multiple additional pulls, she missed spots, the placement of strips was awkward and against the flow of hair (horizontal), extremely painful during and entirely too much sensitivity even 24 hours after. On top of it being a horrible experience, the Brazilian at Goulds costs $100. I will not go back to this Goulds location. Ive had a Brazilian wax at the Houston Levee Goulds which was a good experience.

Son came home from Poland and treated his mom to a 2 hours treatment I love the way they made sure I understand all my pressure point where my tension was I left there feeling light as a feather no tension no stress cant wait to get back

Definitely unhappy with my brow wax. The brows way too thin and uneven, no communication about the procedure beforehand. Not coming back!
