Absolutely amazing tribute show to Elvis! Food was plentiful flavorful and reasonably priced. Spent approximately $50 for two complete meals. Security was at the door making sure that everyone was checked as they were coming in. Felt safe the entire time I was here watching the show and enjoying the meal. Was never bothered by any other guests for rowdiness or anything else. A very calm establishment. The air conditioning was amazing! Fans were also in use to help dissipate the cigarette smoke. The music was loud enough that nothing disturbed you enjoying the show. Great seating. I would call ahead and make reservations if there is an event or show taking place at the establishment. Did I feel safe Yes. Would I recommend it absolutely. I would go out of my way to eat there again and recommend it.
**Alfreds on Beale Street, Memphis - A Perfect Blend of Ambiance, Cuisine, and Music**My visit to Alfreds on Beale Street was a truly memorable experience, combining great food, captivating music, and a stunning setting. Sitting on the patio overlooking Beale Street at sunset was beautiful, offering a perfect vantage point to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of this iconic location.I decided to try the Cajun Catfish, which was an excellent choice. The catfish was perfectly seasoned with a delightful Cajun kick, and every bite was a testament to the chefs skill. Paired with well-crafted cocktails, the meal was thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the live blues band playing downstairs. Their fantastic performance provided the perfect soundtrack to our meal, enhancing the overall experience with soulful tunes that embody the spirit of Beale Street. In summary, Alfreds on Beale Street is a must-visit spot in Memphis. The combination of a beautiful patio view, delicious Cajun Catfish, refreshing cocktails, and outstanding live music creates an atmosphere that is both relaxing and entertaining. I highly recommend Alfreds for anyone looking to enjoy the best of what Beale Street has to offer.
I recently visited Alfreds on Beale Street and had an incredible experience, thanks to our amazing server, Ana. From the moment we arrived, Anas warm and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered excellent recommendations for both food and drinks. Despite the bustling atmosphere, Ana ensured our drinks were always full and checked in frequently without being intrusive. Their professionalism and genuine care for our enjoyment truly stood out. Ana made our night memorable, and we will definitely be returning thanks to their exceptional service. Highly recommend Alfreds and be sure to ask for Ana!
The food was great, the service was even better! I want to give a great thanks to Tisha for being an amazing waitress! I was there last Thursday and I had the most amazing time. I may not give that many reviews to restaurants, but once my waitress Tisha gave me the best experience, I knew that her name had to be known.
Amazing experience!!! If you go here be sure to ask for Laikyn!! She made us feel like royalty. Beautiful and amazing service. The food was on point and the drinks even better. I will be stopping by again when I come back to Memphis.Great job Alfreds
When I Tell You MARY was phenomenal. The best part of the experience was her service and knowledgeable about the menu. I had the ribs and the fried green tomatoes. Perfectly seasoned and great combo together. Will definitely be back when I visit again. Thank you Mary
STAY AWAY! We came in from out of town to attend a Grizzlies game and decided to dine here after the game. WRONG CHOICE! The food is horrible and lacks any type of taste. Our party of 6 ordered 6 different meals and none of us enjoyed our food. Our server was nowhere to be found and we had to wave her down anytime we needed her (when we could actually see her). The bathrooms are disgusting, the dining room floors dirty, tables sticky. I knew I should have stayed away when the doors had all of these “rules” listed of what people COULD NOT do in their establishment. The ONLY reason I gave this restaurant any stars is because of the music/live blues band which was good. Please find somewhere else to go if you’re looking for tasty food and a clean atmosphere!
I can’t say enough about our server Tisha and Alfred’s! Such a great personality and always attentive to our needs. Now the food was the next best part you can’t go wrong with the fried tomato’s or their ribs. Memphis is famous for its BBQ and a location right on Beale who knocks ribs out of the park is unheard of. I’ll be back for sure!
When I say we smelled this great food coming from this restaurant we had to find the smell and they didn’t disappoint at all the service was great the young lady was so happy I loved that we chose to sit outside it was a beautiful view the food was amazing the prices were great this is a place I’m visiting every time I’m in town
I attended Alfred’s with my man and we had the best service due to Laikyn!!!! I had the chicken tenders and he had the Cajun catfish!!! Both dishes were absolutely delicious on top of our beautiful server who hasn’t even been there long but obviously she knows her stuff!!!! We will be back!!!!!!!!!
Glen our server was efficient. The food was an awful experience. My trip to the ladies room was traumatic. Employees were in there and not one of them seemed concerned with the condition. With all of the restaurants and bars on Beale Street in Memphis, I foolishly thought that any choice would be good. Take my advice if you choose, anything but Alfred’s. I don’t know what other restaurants are offering, but I hope that Memphis, and Beale Street has got to have something better.Never ever order grilled catfish, (husband order) for $17 it comes with 1 small fillet & a small handful of fries. For $16 I got pulled pork, baked beans, and coleslaw. My food was just ok, really. Just don’t do it.
Great atmosphere! Food was pretty good but the service is horrible. We has to ask for everything. Our food came out before we had plates, forks or a napkin. When asked, we kept getting ok and. Noone brought it. I eventually went to the bar as I was sitting upstairs on outside patio and asked bartender for napkins and forks. Waitress acted as if asking for what we should have gotten was irritating her. The guy I was with usually tips about 30% many times leaving 10 to 15 dollar tips over 18%. I wouldnt allow him to this time. Management could do to train or hire servers with better attitudes or who like their jobs. This is a great spot on Beale. Many of my friends from around the country visit however Im skeptical about referring. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere and the food. However, service can make or break a place. Visit was 11/2/17
Food lacks flavor!!! No salt on anything. Not even the ketchup can save it. The fries are terrible. I’m guessing they’re beer battered but no salt! The ribs were SUPER dry. The only thing good was the rooftop view. I’ve always wanted to come sit upstairs and its awesome. But the food killed it. As local Memphian woman that works on Beale St, I will definitely not be recommending this place.
Didnt order food, only drinks. Super chill vibe, employees are very friendly. Quick service, cold drinks. Bathrooms were kept clean. Great job Alfreds!
Tisha was our server and she was so amazing and sweet. She made sure that our order was correct and she kept our drinks filled. I will visit again and hope she is working.
I was a visitor twice on my stay in Memphis. My 1st visit on 8/8/23 was awesome the guy that was my bartender he was really nice, great conversation, funny, and attentive. I had some chicken wings & a Shivery Shake, a Bud Light Lime that was awesome. Now my 2nd visit on 8/9/23 I was there like 2 mins & left the bartender I had on 8/9 soon as he gave me my beer & I took a sip he was like that will be $6 in my head Im like damn it wasn’t like that yesterday. So then he asked did I want to order & do a tab. I told him I just paid for the beer & talked to the ladies outside about what just happened. I totally understand people try to run out on the bill especially when its crowded but around 5:30pm on 8/9 it wasn’t crowded at that bar at all, there was a guy by the front door, there was 2 ladies outside, & there was officers walking up & down Beale St.
First time on Beale street and didn’t know where to eat. Went into Alfred’s not expecting much. The food was really good. Gumbo had nice heat, Catfish was crisp and wings were flavorful.
I had so much fun on Beale Street because of stopping in Alfreds! My bartender Cat or Kat made me the most delicious drink! And her smile and wit made my day!!! She is hilarious and so helpful. We were so lost on where to go to eat, and she talked us in to trying out the food there too. She kept making us the best tasting cocktails!! And I had the fried pickles and the chicken sandwich later. OMG?!! Where has this been all my life?!?!?! Thank you cat!!!
Alfreds was great. Its the only place Ive eaten on Beale as an out of towner. The bbq pulled pork was delicious, and my daughter loved her grilled cheese! 👍 Most of all, our server Justin was welcoming and took great care of us. He also gave us recommendations for other things to do on Beale Street.
We were only people there on Friday night. The pulled pork platter was microwaved and dried out. The food was absolutely disgusting. The bathrooms are beyond disgusting. Total waste of money.
5/4/2024: The Hamburger and fries were great as well as the spinach dip. Service was fine also. However, the mens restroom needs alot of work...mildew around sinks and the floor needs tiling or cement finish. In fact throughout the resturant the floors have what appears to be old black glue left after tile removal which severely effect the atmosphere. Thus the 3 rating.
Wow. Horrible experience. We were ok at first but they served our food to someone else. We were only going to have one drink having to wait longer for our food we had a second drink. Food was okay at best. When we paid we were automatically charged a 20 percent gratuity. Unbelievable! We should have been given a drink or discounted something for the fact our food was screwed up. Also we did not know that there was a 20% gratuity until we paid. By the way apparently unbeknownst to us 2 or more our charged a 20 % gratuity..
Tish never misses a beat! She was amazing! Very attentive to all my needs & with a smile! The food was spectacular as well! Next time I’m in town, I will most definetly be going back!
I had a great experience at Alfreds. Was in town by myself and wandered down Beale Street. Sat at the bar and got their frozen whiskey lemonade - it was delicious. Got the pulled pork sandwich with the house chips. The pork had a good amount of flavor. Had no problem getting service. The food/drink was a little overpriced, but I anticipated that as it is a tourist area.
Ive ate here quite a few times, foods always been decent. I Recomend the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The music and decor match the beal street vibe.. memphis beers on tap.. all were good..Service was good.
Overall this was a very good place to drink and have typical bar-quality food. It would generally be a three-star location however the service and entertainment were exceptional. The only unexpected issue was the same as others have commented. They will add 20% regardless of party size. I did not mind as the service was worth the tip.
Me and my fiancé decided to try some place new and we decided to try Alfred’s and it was sooo amazing. Our food was made howve ordered it and Megan is an excellent server and helped out with everything we asked. Most definitely recommend for a nice night out!!!
FILTHY! Dirty silverware. FILTHY restroom. Terrible food. Im not picky, at all! And, Im a pretty big eater. Pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans. I couldnt finish any of it. Unbelievable! Servers and kitchen help were too busy getting high! Dont go!
A genuine robbery.Quality of the food is below average; burnt, luke warm. Salad seemed yesterdays.Bill came unsolicited and service of 25% was added. When I asked the waitress about this she pretended not to understand what I meant or she is very bad in maths. Id suggest to spend your money else.
To be fair, we ordered to go food to take back to our hotel. The staff were super friendly and they were playing great music! I ordered a rack of ribs and my partner had the pulled pork plate. Unfortunately my ribs were tough and not up to the Memphis bbq hype—however the pulled pork was tasty. The bbq sauce itself is good. Not a large selection for sides. We would go back only for the bar vibe and drinks at night—not the food.
Great experience. Jeremy is absolutely one of the best servers you could ever encounter. On the ball, polite, and professional. We were here twice today when it was packed and they did a great job.
Good food, good atmosphere, and the best service! Tisha was our server and we had the best time! Definitely will come again, and hopefully she’ll be there when we do! 🥳
Mitchell was an awesome waiter. The ribs are better than anything we’ve ever had. So much fun!
Warning Warning Warning!!!!!The lady at the front door attitude is very rude and nasty! But she looks nasty as well. The whole staff sucks…the food lacks luster. Pork platter was dry. Wings were not fried hard after being requested to and bland so was the fried green tomatoes. Fries were cold. Coleslaw horrible. Bbq sauce overly sweetened. NOT TO MENTION THE MICE That were running around .. It was only 2 of us with an automatic gratuity of 20%…which is fine if the overall experience was good… but I’m mortified by this establishment . No service with a smile… was told the owner was there but he never came out to us(paying customers)to resolve any issues we had!!
Very good food. He had chicken strips and I had a burger. Plenty of food. Service was good.
Ana is one of my favorite people who works at Alfred on Beale St., Memphis, TN and another one of my favorites is Anas sister Maci ,and they are amazing workers at Alfred and I love the food and it’s amazing and they always have a smile on their face and it’s always amazing and so helpful whenever I go. I hope that they get something for this because I love going to Alfred and ordering the food and they are always so nice and have amazing love for customers
Laikyn was our server. Great personality. Very attentive. Food was delicious ! Highly recommend
Visited first on a food tour (Tastin Round Town which I could give 10+ stars). Was not crowded at all around mid afternoon on a Friday. Tried the whisky slushy and got the best cup ever! Every drink we tried was great. Had pulled pork nachos on the tour, which is my favorite thing to eat. They were fantastic! Came back that night for dinner and managed to snag a table during Dinner rush. Covid procedures seemed to be followed, masks worn and tables spaced out. Did not feel overly crowded. I got the ribs and they were to die for! Musician playing that night was very talented and while it was loud, it wasnt unbearable (we sat literally in front of the stage). We will definitely be back for more!
Good live music. Manager Kat was extremely helpful with a small food issue- but great drinks and most enjoyed their meal . Definitely recommend
Alfred’s has a fun atmosphere. The patio is a great place to sit and people watch. Tisha was great. She was super attentive and kind.
The Fried Green Tomatoes Were Fye!!! Shot Out To Justin! Justin was very Professional with Great Customer Service! The Food Was Great! Great Atmosphere! Great Service!
Had allot of good meals here for St Patricks Day this year! Service was outstanding! Gina is a great bartender and was a pleasure to meet!
Tish is an awesome staff member. She made sure me and my wife were very much taken care of and we will for sure be back because of her.
Tisha was an awesome waitress and made sure me and my daughter were well taken care of. Recommend her anytime you visit!
Had the rack of ribs and they were great! Laikyn was fantastic and her service was sxcellent. Goid experience all round
I was in here the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was great, drinks were on point, and the service from Tisha was amazing!
This restraunt has great food, and the atmosphere of the building is amazing with great service. The outside bartender kat is so sweet and always makes good time serving drinks.
What a night at Alfreds, all thanks to the fabulous Maci! From the get-go, Macis vibrant personality and infectious energy set the perfect tone for our evening. She greeted us with a big smile and made us feel like VIPs throughout our visit. Macis drink recommendations were on point! Even with the place buzzing, Maci managed to keep everything running smoothly, making sure we had everything we needed with a laugh and a joke. If you’re looking for an unforgettable night out, head to the bar on Beale Street and ask for Maci—you won’t be disappointed!
The food was delicious. The live music was great and our server Tisha was great!
Terrible service. Automatically took 20% gratuity, which in most cases is ok but the service was not worth 20%. We could not get ahold of servers and once we got one we couldn’t get ahold of them. The food was alright but not worth the amount they are asking. Don’t recommend at all.
Had dinner and great drinks ! Kathy was amazing and so friendly !! I would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a fun time !
Laikyn was an awesome waitress and my chicken Alfredo was good! Laikyn is one of the reasons I’ll be back to Alfred’s Downtown!
Tish is the absolute best. She really knows how to make customers feel welcome. We will be back to see her.
Stopped by here for a few drinks and apps. Tish really made our time amazing here. Very upbeat, positive, and definitely made our visit worth our while.
Everything was wonderful. Tisha took great care of us, always on top of everything! Great place will come back
Everything was great. Our server Tish was on point, food.. hot fresh and fast!
Visited on a Thursday night around 6pm. I was THE ONLY guest when I walked in. There was a big sign outside saying Alfreds was world famous !!! I thought, how lucky I was to have wandered into a world famous place and have it all to myself.I ordered the slowed cooked half chicken barbecue style. It came with a side of cole slaw and fries and Texas Toast with it. The cole slaw was decent. The fries were OK as well. The chicken was cooked but not enough barbecue sauce and I had to ask for more. Service was decent, well since I was the only one around, would have been pretty pathetic if it wasnt!!!I got a coke and they brought it out in a single use plastic cup. I asked for a refill and they brought out yet another single use plastic cup instead of refilling the one I already had. Lousy! I dont see any reason why they cannot give me a proper glass and have to pollute the environment for a drink.Overall, I would say... dont bother. Certainly not a world famous place. Apart from being on Beale Street, there is nothing remarkable about it.
Magnificent restaurant!! I love my entire experience there 😀👍🏻 My favorite worker is Tisha
Love the ribs 😋 mitch best bartender on the strip ...a must try if you havent 👍👍♥️
It’s a NO for me…visited from out of town. My daughter and I had wings, fries and bbq nachos and 2 drinks….$72.00 food was not good at all. Would not recommend.
We are sitting enjoying our drinks and the bartender, second floor outdoor patio, lights up and smokes his cigarette. Why can’t he do that in a break inside subjecting patrons to his smoke? Ridiculous!!!!!!!
We went for lunch/drinks and had such a good time during Elvis Week. Our waitress Rachel was hands down the absolute best, always making sure we were good! The ribs were mouth watering. They had Elvis impersonator who was awesome - everything was fantastic!
Where to start. Peggy, the hostess, super fun, sweet, and personable. Bartender, kind of rude and had to eat lunch while working, which was awkward. If you end up with Marcus as your waiter, ask for a different one. He was either drunk or high. Either way, downright clueless and irritating.Note, they automatically add gratuity! Not cool.Food was very mediocre and not authentic Memphis cooking.
This was probably one of the worst establishments Ive been to in years!!! My family and I should have taken a hint when we saw all of the notes on the door (i.e., gratuity added to parties of two or more. Once ordered, you can not change your mind [so if my food was nasty, oh well, just gotta eat that], take out food has to be eaten outside of the establishment). The food was flavorless, and there was no seasoning. The waitresses attitude was lackluster as well. I will never come back to this establishment when I visit again, nor will I recommend it to anyone!
Came here for a beer at lunch time and the bartender was nice and the beer was good. Came back later to try the nachos and was disappointed. They were very greasy and not good overall. The girl bartending wasnt friendly and she was on her phone and vaping which I find unprofessional.
Omg, where do I start. 1st of all I sat at the bar and ordered 2 beers. It was $16... I was charged for using my debit card and charged gratuity. Then we decided to eat. The food was disgusting only for the bartender to say no refund. Since the food was ordered after we paid for the beers, I was charged AGAIN for using my debit card and another gratuity. We didnt realize until after the 2nd transaction. No signs or verbal info about the charges... gratuity is mandatory 20%...Then the man that sat next to me ordered a beer and a pack of cigarettes. Only to chain smoke next to me... save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. They legally rip you off.
Only thing good was the waitress, she was very friendly. We decided to eat here because they claimed to have been rated number one for their ribs, I can make better ribs at home in my Instant Pot, baked beans weren’t very good, fried green tomatoes were ok but a little greasy and not much flavor. One of our friends is allergic to onions and was told the baked beans didn’t have onions and they did, thank goodness he saw it and didn’t eat them, they then charged him to get fries instead, one of our friends asked for slaw instead of fries and then got charged extra because they said she couldn’t substitute slaw for fries even though she was told she could. At the door it says 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more, there were five of us and everyone got charged a 20% gratuity plus 2.5% to use a card. $125 for a rack and half of ribs and two beer. Definitely wasn’t worth it.
Tisha was good server friendly nice and polite asked us if we needed anything
Food is great, servers are great, and Kat the manager is the best employee there, she definitely deserves a raise .
I will NEVER go back! I ordered a fish plate that costs about $16-17, it came with 1 catfish fillet w/ 1 side, tarter sauce and toast. The fish was very bland, the fries werent fresh, and the toast was well lets just say it wasnt toast...bummer 😕. I asked for hot sauce and the waitress said it was $1 😳 I asked for plastic ware and again she said it was a $1🤦🏾♀️ everyone at our table had complaints about their food😕
This is an ok place. I ordered the award winning ribs but they were just average. Definitely overpriced.
Stoped to have a bite to eat before taking my city tour, and Im happy I did and would recommend it if you taking the Memphis Bus Tour to stick around and have a bite to eat here. Had the bbq chicken and wow was it good, had the pretzel as well, good, to me it was over salted but could brush it off so not a big deal breaker, and best of all its on beale st. The staff as well are great to interact with, they made me feel welcome. I highly recommend.
The service was rude. The food wasn’t that great and she ripped us off on the prices and automatic tip which was non-gross.
Way to pricey for mediocre food! How can you go wrong with a cheese and sausage plate? Its like they threw it on the plate, the sauce was everywhere, and the sausage were extremely bland and small. The chicken tenders w/ fries were huge with no seasoning but my daughter said she liked them. My other daughter got the Cajun pasta and she said it was cold which it was because I tasted it. Our server was ok and it was not crowded at all. This was our 1st and last time trying this place. I didnt even bother to complain im sure it wouldnt do any good. I just want be back. Oh, and the restroom could use some cleaning.
Well to start this restaurant doesn’t have an actual hostess so you have to figure it out in order to find a table etc. Once you sit they actually take forever to acknowledge you and bring a menu. I do have to admit that there was only like one or 2 waitresses and many tables to serve, but our server was not friendly we didn’t get not even a smile from her not even once well we only saw her coming to our table like 2 times. We waited for our food for more than 30 minutes. Food tasted good ordered a chicken sandwich with some saggy potato chips.
Absolutely horrible. We had BBQ ribs which were not worth the price at all, around $40 (it only says market price in the menu) and the fries were cold as if they were there sitting for 30 minutes. Not to mention the silverware that we had was completely dirty with sauces and food remains. The second plate we had was a pasta that literally had two types of pasta like if they had some leftovers and added to complete the plate. One was normal and the other was super soft and overcooked with a different color and everything. We didn’t eat it and told the server about it, he said he’d take it out but never happened (The menu also explicitly says they only charge the 18% service fee for parties 6+ and we were charged anyway even though we were 2).The service for how full the place was was rather quick, but if you are like us that were visiting Memphis for the first time, don’t ruin your afternoon and spend your money somewhere else.
Amber was was awesome!!Was a fun place the food was great and everybody was nice and polite
We didnt eat a full meal here... just apps to share. The fried green tomatoes hit the spot... love the cornmeal breading. The spinach artichoke dip was lukewarm at best and sorta bland flavor wise. The upstairs patio was nice, you get a great view of Beale St.
Visit Alfred’s during the day staff was hungry to serve you. Fast service. I had the pulled pork platter was very tasty I did ask for double beans instead of coleslaw bartender’s reply can’t do that they pretty much stick to the menu. I’m ok with that since I’m not a coleslaw fan so I ordered extra side of beans. Great choice I must say overall meal was good.
Kat was AMAZING! Great service! And I loved the atmosphere. I will be back!
The whole experience was great loved the food and the bartender kat was so kind.
Just the audacity of their place! I ordered the bbq nachos. The meat had a good global but was cold and the cheese sauce as well. We order the shrimp poboy the bread was cold like it was just taken out of the fridge. I order tenders for my kid and as soon as I started to cut into them there was a foul smell I took a bit it was sour! I gave it a good sniff and I gagged just to make sure I had my husband smell and he as well gagged I bible the smell hasn’t left out noses and it’s been a few hours now. We order water we were done with our one drink and the freaken water had a hair in it. I wish I could this up but over all I would recommend or go back beacuse on top of all that they still have the audacity to charge a 20% gratuity! And I know it’s not the waitress job because trust I worked the food industry but she did take a while to get back to use and I mean didn’t really try to compensate.
Just go!! You won’t regret it! Oh, and be sure to ask for Ana! Hands down best server!
Tisha was our server! We really enjoyed our visit! We will be back.
Everything was perfect in my experience, Tisha was Great as well!
The breeziest and best patio on Beale, ask for Justin upstairs and you won’t be disappointed!
Food prices were good. Drink prices were outrageous. Mandatory 20 percent tip added to bill is awful and then asking for additional tip is unbelievable. Also did not appreciate the 2.5 percent add on for using a credit card. Needless to say I will not patronize then again nor do I recommend them.
Restaurant was ok, but oh the bathrooms...Theyd be at least better if some took a hose to them from the chest down. Stuff on the wall, in the urinals... 😫 it was only lunch time.Food was good, 20% tip added automatically to the bill.
My friends and I went to Alfreds on Beale Street after the Memphis Tiger game today. Sadly the Tigers lost by 2 points but the food we had made us all feel better. We tried several appetizers and each of us had something off of the main menu. Everything we had was hot and delicious. I would highly recommend the southwestern egg rolls. The staff was friendly and stayed on top of our party of 6. We will definitely eat at Alfreds again.
Worse service I’ve ever had at any spot in Memphis and we visit about twice a year…they told us we couldn’t split our ticket (party of 13) and it’s a $9 charge to use your card!!! We had $20 drinks but no buzz at all…fries were cold & chicken tenders were over cooked. our waitress, Gi-Gi, was great but the overall quality of food and drinks were poor
The drinks are what saves this place. Fun drinks, food is below par. Ive had much better BBQ at chains in the north. Worse still, they only list market price for ribs and when our check came we found that half a rack of ribs was $27! Definitely not worth the price at all
Okay atmosphere. The chicken strips had no seasoning. They charge gratuity automatically, despite the party size. The live music wasnt playing any longer but we still paid a cover charge. Ridiculous.
Food was terrible! No hogue buns for my Philly cheese steak, restroom out of order(employee in the restroom drunk and vomiting everywhere), knats flying around, chips dried out and bland, waiter rude as hell!! Gratuity added for 5 people 3 which was kids and the sign clearly says 6….credit card processing fee of 2.5%…. Will never return!!!
We walk in and it’s not that busy, there’s no sign telling us what to do and after 5 minutes we ask somebody where do we sit and they rudely responded, “Anywhere.” We sit down and it takes 20 minutes for somebody to acknowledge us and order our drinks, and it wasn’t even that crowded, and we still didn’t even get our drinks until 40 minutes in. The food took forever, barely anything on the menu, and when we finally got our food after 1 hour 20 minutes being there (we were only a party of 5), we got our food which was mediocre at best. Literally seemed like store bought food. At the end, we got our check and they added a 20% tip into it, even though it said on the menu that it would only be added with parties of 6 or above. This place is terrible and I do not recommend this poor establishment.
Top patio bar has a good view. I got the Shrimp Po Boy which was good and husband got whole wings that were mediocre. Wings were overpriced for the quality. Cocktails were fun but expensive.
Bartender was AWESOME! We will go back for wings!
Great food and kathy is the best manager ever loved working for her
Kat is a great bartender!!! Love going there and getting drinks from her!
Laikyn was an amazing server. We willBe back.
The only good thing about our visit here was the Spirit of our waitress. I ordered a Long Island Ice Tea and was served a yellow beverage with salt around the rim with a lime. The tortillas for the spinach dip was cold and burnt. My shredded pork nachos was cold. The Alfredo was cold. I’ve never experienced a dining experience such as this.
I’m from Memphis and have came to Alfred’s several times. It has been 7 months since I’ve been there. I was so DISAPPOINTED in my visit today. I was expecting really good bbq but it wasn’t good at all. Don’t try the bbq. Typically the drinks are good. I didn’t like they slapped a 20% gratuity on the ticket. The waitress wasn’t giving the best service. Also you can’t take food back or exchange if you don’t like it. I don’t agree with that. I always recommend Alfred’s but this time I will stop telling people to go there as a first choice.
The service was great until we noticed unusual charges on our corporate card. We only used it here. Jonathan was our server I would recommend getting a different server or paying with cash.
We sat upstairs on the patio. The view of Beale street was great. We had ribs which had great flavor. However, our waitress was one of the worst we have ever had. She was more interested in her friends at the next table than serving us. While our hands were full of barbecue sauce, she asked if we would pay our bill because she was leaving. When we received this credit card slip to sign, there was a 2.5% service charge included for using our credit card. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the great flavor of the food.
Kris was an amazing server! He was extremely personable, courteous and made us feel very welcome! He made my entire night! Thank you Kris for being so amazing! He deserves a raise!! For sure an asset to your business!!
This restaurant was a backup option. We wanted to go to another restaurant but it was closed. It was about to rain. So we decided to go to this restaurant even though we knew it was a 3 star. It was definitely less than a 3 star. We had to wait on the person to sit us as she was not in the restaurant. She then sat us in front of the stage when someone was starting to sing. We only figured that out when he got on stage and started singing. It was so loud we could not hear each other. Ordered an appetizer chips and spinach dip. Chips were burnt, dip had too many large pieces in it. Ordered cajun salmon. It was bland. The only thing that was good was the french fries. Ordered peach cobbler. It was doughy and not great! We also ordered ribs that looked great but it was tough and hard in several areas. We spent over $100 for food not worth it.
This place and management is the worst ever. Dont even think about ordering a Margarita or Lemon Drop here. The Lemon drop tasted like cough syrup and I cant even describe the rock gut margarita, which was supposedly made with top shelf alcohol...pure nasty! I discussed the issue with management and all he said was there was nothing he can do. I had no problem with paying the tab, however allow me to exchange the drinks out for something else. Management wouldnt allow..what has happened to customer service these days. Needless to say, it was poor mgmt communication and I will never return!
Tisha was just wonderful we stopped in for drinks and had a fantastic time
Starting with the good. The atmosphere was great. Good band, good environment. Their beer selection was good. A bit pricey. Our two 5$ beers came in plastic cups. My wifes burger and fries was good. Nothing special. I got a cup of gumbo which came with a plastic spoon.. it tasted like dog food and the chicken was tough. It had obviously been reheated several times. The service sucked. The management is also lacking as no one tried to correct this food grievance.
To start, we had to pay $5 per person for cover for a guy that played 20 minutes of our hour there. We were there for around 10 minutes before I finally got up to ask the bartender if I could put in an order. She somewhat rudely told me I had a server. 10 minutes later the server finally came over. We put our order in right away. The bbq nachos were pretty decent, but we were given no silverware and had to snag some ourselves. Our server didnt come back to us until we were almost done and we asked for the bill. Of the 4 people we interacted with, only one was polite and personable. He was a busboy that apologized for the dirty dining room. We wont go back.
This place must not want to make any money. Was turned away for no reason and told not to come back. Party of 5 left and went to Club Handy to spend our $$ instead. Club handy had a much better atmosphere.
Although the drinks are good at 4pm we were charged $5 to enter the restaurant and drink. The menu states 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more and my party of 4 had $40 on automatic gratuity. We asked the waitress why is the gratuity on our bill and she said parties of two or more are required to have 20% gratuity added to the bill. The manager then disrespectfully came to us with his cockeyed behind and said there’s signs posted. The sign was posted on the back door by the bathroom and people were only able to enter through the front door. We then said well that sign should be were people are entering and exiting because why would you have a major change like that on one piece of paper on the BACK DOOR. He said because the front door is open. The drinks are small for almost $20, the fried pickles are sweet pickles, and the fried green tomatoes are a disgrace to Memphis.
Tisha was the BEST OF THE BEST. Fun, professional and efficient. Great service😍❤️
Place was close to empty and still had to wait for a table to be cleaned. We stood at an empty table and waited as it was the least dirty. Waitress cleaned it and took our drink orders. When we ordered the “World famous Ribs” we were told they were out of them. Wait, this place opens at 11 it’s now 4 and you don’t have your signature dish? There were 10 other customers inside. We paid the drink tab and left. I would say zero stars but the waitress was nice.
The bouncer was friendly and attentive. Bartenders were fast and friendly! The drinks were good and made correctly too. The space is nice and the experience was nice. The live music... was incredible!! I was memorized by the gal singing Aretha Franklin songs! She had a beautiful voice and was truly an entertainer! Band was awesome and they even take requests! I will always visit when I am in town!
Love this place! We came on a Monday night, around 9p.m. There was live music playing, which we really enjoyed. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. And the food... so delicious!!! We came back the next day for more :)There are tasty vegetarian options, some of them can be made vegan. The deep fried green tomatoes & pickles are just too good!Between 12-2p.m. theres deep fried okra as well, which is delicious. They also serve excellent local beer, brewed in Memphis. We will definitely come here again on our next trip to Memphis!
Giving them a 1 star is way too much. My friend an I ordered barbecue nachos and Cajun chicken pasta. The nachos had NO MEAT ON THEM. And were okay. Omg we got to the pasta when I say nothing was Cajun about it I mean NOTHING. It was absolutely nothing. We ask to speak to a manager no the waitress told us she would go get the manager. For her to come back with NO MANAGER. The only thing he told her to do was take the food off the table. I had to ask what do mean. She repeated herself. I couldn’t believe it. He didn’t even have the audacity to even come out to see what was the problem as a manager. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Nobody! The manager handled it so poorly. We still had to pay and was still hungry. Very unsatisfying! Don’t RECOMMEND
Tisha was amazing while I was there on a layover, enjoying the city.
Sat on the patio to watch the parade. Our server was awesome. However, the server next to us “Curt” was rude. A table closer to the edge left and we wanted to move tables and Curt told us we couldn’t move tables. But proceeded to have his table move over. When we were trying to pay out, Curt helped several others that were after us pay out and left us there. We told our server about Curt and she didn’t seem surprised. Apparently Curt is always like this. Management needs to look into this particular server.
We were seated quickly, but was given a horrible waitress. When she finally came to take our drinks order, we went ahead and order our food also because we knew what we wanted and was on a schedule. It was taking so long, that we told them to change our orders to go. She pass our table a few times without saying anything, then with a nasty attitude she said, Im getting yall stuff together so you can get out of here. Her attitude was not warranted, we had said nothing to her. She put everyone meal on the same ticket and then refused to separate them. I will not visit this place again.
Thank you Laikyn for your friendly service. Great place!
I had a good time despite the fact I don’t like the smell of cigarettes in the air. The duo playing was decent that night but I guess I was expecting more of blues and jazz. Not their fault, there are plenty options of music on Beale. My waitress made a great effort to correct my dinner order when she noticed there was no chicken on it when the plate arrived (which I did not realize until I asked what was wrong), but the food was warm and not as hot as I would expect.
I didn’t have high hopes for this place when we first walked in due to some of the reviews I read online and a bad experience I had with another restaurant down the street a few minutes prior... but boy did this place catch me by surprise! The food was really good and tasty - and it came out pretty fast too; we ordered the BBQ nachos and shrimp po boy. The service was friendly and the server was really attentive. And to my surprise, the restaurant and bathrooms were actually clean, unlike some other places on Beale St. I’m glad we stopped here and would come back again!
Johnathan is an amazing server. He takes care of his customers no matter what. Whether it be a holiday or day to day visit. He takes care of every customer as if it’s their first time being here. Best experience on Beale street I’ve encountered. If I could give him a million stars I would!
Stopped in for lunch yesterday. Woefully understaffed- no reflection on the current waitstaff. Lots of people waiting for servers to cash them out or to get waited on at all. Several people left while we waited for our food. My daughter beverage had a roach in it. waitress took the drink to the bartender who seemed completely unconcerned. We decided to leave before our food came because .... if a roach is in the ice/beverage, they are everywhere. We took care of our waitress. And bathrooms were awful and gross.
Food was good. Not over the top. Roof top dining was awesome! Drinks were over priced. Service was terrible. Or waitress, Stacy, never checked on us but once, never brought napkins, silverware, or check on us for refills on drinks. She started off nice, but was downhill from there. Do not recommend this place except for the roof top experience.
Service was incredibly slow...but that’s not my complaint. Our waiter consistently overlooked our table. There was a table on the roof that my party wanted but it was not cleaned yet so we took another table. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us, we realized that a party had been seated at the table that we initially wanted and already had alcoholic beverages and water while we still had not be greeted by a server. When I asked the server why, he said in a very snooty way “because they were here first” when I pointed out that I knew they were not here first because we initially wanted that table, he blamed it on the bartender (I only ordered a draft beer). This behavior continued for the rest of our experience . I do not recommend coming to this establishment. More to say about this but don’t want to be political and start accusing people of things but I will say this about my party compared to the rest ...one of these things are not like the others...
The WORST place on Beale hands down! Bad, cold food….terrible drinks….and HORRIBLE manager, “Kat”. From the minute we sat down I felt like we had made a mistake. Should have gone with my gut. And to top it all off… The manager was screaming in our faces by the time we were ready to pay the bill. I really hope the owner sees this….message me if you’d like details. “Kat” should be fired, and Amber was great, right until she stood up for the screaming manager. (And this was all over flat seltzer water and extra charges on the bill)
BBQ pulled pork nachos were amazing! We go the chicken wings seasoned without sauce and those were really good too. We added a side of fries and they came out hot and fresh. My cousin enjoyed her salad, but said although the gumbo was good it reminded her more of rice and gravy and not the traditional Louisiana gumbo we are used to.
Laikyn was amazing, very sweet and welcoming ♥️♥️
They had one waiter trying to cover 20 tables. Had seat yourself signs, but then asked that same waiter to tell anyone off who sat in the (indistinguishable from other tables, no signs) off limits tables. We waited a half hour for waters, left a tip for the poor waiter, and left. The owners clearly are willing to leave this as a zero effort tourist trap.
Only thing that was good was the rooftop view on a sunny day. The food was mediocre, drinks were watered down and the service was slow and poor. Waitress had an attitude over an public altercation (that occured in front of all of the customers) with another staff member and even commented on it when she came to our table. Very unprofessional. I lost interest in my food after I asked TWO waitresses for hot sauce for my fried catfish fillet and NEVER received it from either of them. Wouldnt come back here ever again.
Came here to get some dinner and a few beers. Bartender was very knowledgeable and when my chicken sandwich came out she was embarrassed at how small it was. Took care of me and turned a 3 into a 5. Definitely come by and check it out. The egg rolls are amazing!
The food is way overpriced and extremely overrated. The Cajun pasta had no flavor, catfish was ok fries were trifling lol. The wings were good but $20 for 5 wings??? The Grizz Freeze is $20 and it’s basically a tall slushy with a small drop of liquor 🤨 we will not be returning!
Good service. The pulled pork nachos and the sausage and cheese plate were great that my wife and I shared. Cold beer. Awesome terrace seating over Beale Street. Had a great time while we were there. The waitress was hilarious.
Waited way too long for our food, as a waitress i know that sometimes there is a struggle. but not once did our server come and even check on us or get us more drinks. the chicken tenders were hard. and when we had something wrong she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. manager was not very friendly either. wouldn’t recommend.
We loved the option on eating upstairs on the outside patio !! They were very punctual and very nice. The drinks were good and the food! They also were trying to separate the groups of people which we liked. Best place to view the strip while you eat ❤️
This place is Highly underrated!!Bar Staff is skillful. Friendly environment. ALL customers we had interaction with were nice. 4 different people around us had the wings...Everyone LOVED the taste and quantity of the order. I had the Egg rolls with spicy ranchsauce. ..Hands down the best Ive had. Also I had the Parmesan Chicken. It had a very Good flavor and a generous portion.I regret not taking pictures of ANY of these!!!Go.. I Guarentee You will agree with 100% of my experience here.
Came at a slow time of the day went to the roof and they only had 2 servers upstairs ordered water had to wait almost 15 min till I got up to go get them myself. Me and my girlfriend ordered at the same time her food came pretty usual speed but was cold and I didn’t receive my food which was the same thing she got pulled pork sandwich for another 25 mins after I was hopeful that at least I would get a hot meal. Wrong again food was cold and I don’t even want to order again because the rest of my day would’ve been taken just for the meal.
Tisha was awesome and so was the food and atmosphere.
Stopped for lunch and got to hear a great band doing sound check. Food was excellent (3 baked spuds and a chicken fingers) and service good. We had to ask to see the lunch menu, gave us the dinner one at first. Only reason for 3 stars was kind of a smoky atmosphere from people hanging around to talk to the band. We prefer our air clean and cancer free. Definitely worth a stop if you are on Beale St. BTW, the spuds are HUGE and you should share with someone else.
Ticket was $80 for 2 mixed drinks 2 egg rolls and a chicken pasta. We had a $1.60 added for credit card processing fee and we paid cash. Food was ok. Service was ok. But prices for drinks weren’t posted. I feel scammed.
Friday night, My husband and I visited the establishment wanting to grab dinner, we paid $5 each for entry, we seated ourselves up too to have a view of Beale, we waited 10 minutes, went to bar to get napkins to clean table, I was told in a nice nasty way, shes busy and only 1 person up here, we will clean your table, just give us a minute, so we stood for a few, he came over rushed not cleaning table good, took our drink order, said he would tell the lady, 30 minutes later nothing, no one in site, so we go downstairs and no one to help so we spotted someone at bar, asked to see menus, then I said thats ok, we know what we want, he said nice nasty, why did you ask for a menu if you knew what you wanted. But at the 45 minutes mark, I asked if we could get our money back due to very poor service..we were told no..at least he did say Im sorry.NEVER AGAIN IF THEY WERE THE ONLY PLACE OPEN AND IM STARVING
I see why they have a rating of 2.9.... the food just really leaves alot to be desired. When we got ours it was lukewarm at best and this place was not crowded at all so not really sure why we couldnt get hot food. We just ended up taking it to go because by the time the waitress got back to us we just wanted the check so we could go.This place may be due for a revamping to improve the food quality.
We visited this restaurant with high hopes of having a great experience. There were ONLY 2 things that went well. 1. The bartender turned the TV to the NBA playoff game for our party and the ribs were good for those of us who ordered ribs. Now, for the ones who ordered chicken, lets just say RAW. . . . When my sister brought it to the attention of our waitress, she looked at us like we were speaking a foreign language, but she took the plate and NEVER came back. We had to get the Manager to the table who then informed us that our waitress had a mini emergency. First, we were baffled at the term mini emergency but at this point can we get a to go box for the ribs and the check. The bill for $102 was not the issue and was paid but the EXPERIENCE WAS AWFUL. . .AND NO ONE SEEMED TO CARE.
Food was lousy, beer was over priced and slow service. 10 min after food arrived I had to obtain flatware myself for our table. PLASTIC 10oz cup of beer was 6.00. Ive had better microwaveable entrees at home.On the good side our waitress was friendly and personable.
Dont come here... my child had a hair in his food and my food was cold. They took my plate and came back 10 minutes later with the same plate but my food was extremely dry because they microwaved the hell out of it. But my waitress was really nice.
The whole experience was bad. We asked for seasoned Chicken wings (no seasoning) chicken wasnt done then they charge us for stuff we didn’t receive
The service was good, with friendly servers and they were also quick. The food was mediocre, and the prices were a little higher than I would have liked, but understandable given the location. My only complaint was the server asking if we wanted fries or chips, without telling us there is a $3.00 up charge for fries. I was shocked to see $9.00 extra on my check for fries with our burgers. We were too early for music, so didnt experience it.
My family and I went to alfreds 6/15/19. The waitress was nice but the food wasnt that good. I ordered the pulled pork platter, and recieved it with the bread twist tie inside my pulled pork. The waitress took it back but when she brought it back it was the same plate. They just took the twist tie out. How do I know because it was the same slice of bread in the same spot on my plate. Then my youngest son burger was burnt. He didnt eat it at all. So thats 2 meals that werent good. So I asked to have them removed from my ticket. Manager told the waitress to tell me I ordered them I have to pay for them. So I requested he come to see me. He came 15 minutes later. He stated that he had to see it for himself. Long story short he removed just my sons food, but it shouldnt have taken all that. Just know that the kitchen staff dont really care about what you put in your mouth.
Kathy is an amazing bartender who always knows exactly what I like!!!!!!
Came in for the weekend with my husband and this place was great. Service was a bit off but all of the food was delicious. Loved the atmosphere and our server was great just looked like they could use a hand. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
Toya! Toya! Toya! By far is the best in the city of Memphis. Her customer service was excellent, she provided great suggestions to satisfy my tastebuds and service with the biggest smile! She’s amazing
Food and drinks were really good and affordable.
Ate here while giving the kids a Beale St. experience. Ribs and gumbo were serviceable- better than expected. Kids chicken strips looked really good.Wait staff was very polite and accommodating. Band was good. Overall good experience.
Thank goodness the incredibly slow service leaves me time to write a bad review while Im sitting here. All of the other things mentioned by people like taking forever to get a table clean so they can sit down, taking forever to get food, never getting drinks refilled theyre all true. Read the reviews before you go to this place. Oh yeah, that also charge you extra to use a credit card. EVERYONE uses credit cards. This place is just a money grab, plain and simple.Oh yeah, I forgot the 18 percent mandatory tip for the complete lack of service.
This restaurant was horrible. My spouse and I came in for the weekend to enjoy Beale street and came across Alfred’s. We decided to give it a try. At 6:00 pm there was a $5 dollar cover charge and a gratuity charge of 18% for parties of two or more. We sat for 40 min waiting on the “fried Wickle pickles.” We were unsatisfied with the pickles which cost $15. It took an additional 30 minutes before we were able to obtain the bill from the waitress. The bill end up being $44.67 for two alcoholic drinks and fried pickles. They charge a credit card processing fee and they had the audacity to suggest an additional tip. I would suggest you find somewhere else to purchase food and drinks on Beale Street.
Alfreds doesnt look like much from the outside, or the inside, for that matter. The location couldnt be better at right on Beale. The food, though, is great! We had ribs and barbecue and didnt leave anything behind. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our waiter answered questions on the menu without pause. Service was really quick.
Does not deserve a full star. Went to patio dining, not full by any covid standard. 2 people working, young lady takes our drink order...15 min later a young man approaches and tries to take our order, we informed him about the previous encounter with the young lady and he leaves to continue to service other guests. No drinks yet and another 15 min later the young man approaches again and tries to take our order, we informed him of our 30 min wait on our first order and were leaving. He apologized, we did see the younger lady servicing other guest throughout this visit.Wont be back.
My husband and I wanted to go in and enjoy a meal but a guy at the door literally was charging a cover just to come in and eat! All while the NO COVER sign was illuminated behind him. I left a message for the management, we went and enjoyed a meal at Silky’s.
Our waitress was top of the line. Personable and friendly. The drinks were pricy, but not unusual for that type of place. The ribs were some of the best that I have ever had. Just left Central BBQ, not even close!
Came here today for lunch with my sister from out of town. The eating was going great until I found a hair in my food. I let the waitress know and she was foing to get the manager. Took 20 minutes for her to come back, and when she did, there was no manager. Said the manager said that she would just take half off of our ticket. We didnt get an apology or anything. Probably wont eat here again.
Place was not that busy for a saturday afternoon. The service and the taste of food was horrible. Had a philly cheesesteak and the potato chips were awful that came with it. The prices do not match the quality and service here. Also they charge you 2.5% for using a credit card. Meanwhile they will charge you $15 for a mixed drink. Please avoid this place. Total ripoff.
Our server was good enough, not the most efficient, I had to ask for refills, box, check. The restaurant is SUPER hot, sit near a fan. The band is EXTREMELY too loud, while the music was fine, there was absolutely no way to talk to those around you. The fried pickles were yummy, pulled pork was HORRIBLE, ribs mediocre at best, chicken alfredo pasta average, the chips that came with the burger were ok. Mixed drinks, while cute, were weak and watered down. Fairly pricey overall for what I seem to think came frozen and got microwaved. Save youre money and go somewhere else on Beale street. It wasnt the worst place but definitely not a place Id ever recommend. 2 stars bc its was cute and has an outdoor patio.
Horrible service. My friends found a foreign object in her food. They couldn’t even tell us what it was. The bouncers at the door was extremely disrespectful! We had a simple question about wristbands and this man starts snapping. Waste of $5 to get in.
No atmosphere. Food was served quickly. We had ribs. Not impressed. Place is grungy. Mens bathroom is filthy.
Good honestly tasted really good but we were very disappointed with the service. From walking in to a hostess who doesnt bother looking up from their phone to greet you, to waiting until your meal was nearly finished to get your second beer. I dont think its the fault of the server but maybe they just didnt have enough staff to cover things.
The atmosphere at Alfreds is absolutely beautiful, and thats what drew us in. We were a big group, nine people, and we loved the view from the roof top, but the service is where it goes down hill. Our waiter was very nice, but his service was terrible. Someone in our group had asked what beer was on tap, and he listed off three beers and said the bar downstairs has more, but the bar on the roof top only has those three on tap, so this person ordered one of the beers from the roof top bar. After everyone had ordered drinks, we waited for close to 20 minutes for our drinks. In that time, we looked over at the bartender multiple times and he was watching the football game on the tv behind him and was not making any drinks for anyone. Our waiter came back upstairs with our drinks that were actually made from the downstairs bar, after he had said they would be made at the upstairs bar, so this person in our group settled with a beer that he was told to pick from a small list, when in fact they came from the bar that had more options. We ordered our food, three people had ordered Caesar salad, and when our food came only one person got their Caesar salad. Luckily only one person was charged for the salad, but it was the wrong person. A couple people ordered appitizers, they came just before our main meals, and we didnt have any cutlery. Someone from our group had to go over to our waiter and ask for cutlery. A waitress came to help our waiter distribute our food and she was not very pleasant. She just handed us our plates and when we said thank you she didnt say anything. We finished our meals and paid. The food was good, but the service was terrible.
