Great place! Easy booking site. Park on level 5 New York and walk right in. 2 item min inside so beware anything purchased at the bar doesn’t count. Great food options with vegan and gluten friendly items. Friendly staff and awesome comedians. Love having this place at the Mall. Great place to take a date or go with friends! Will be back.
My family and I purchased 12 tickets to take my sister out for her birthday. Upon arrival, we were told that if they did not sell 15 tickets that night, the show would not go on. We entered the bar portion and found many people who were told not to purchase a ticket (making a complete show). At that point, 5 minutes prior to the beginning of the show, the ticket window was closed, and the manager had a big attitude with everyone. She was yelling at our party of 12 to move out of the entrance. She yelled at me to shut up.I feel horrible for the comedians. Her negativity directly affected people’s ability to enjoy themselves. She did and does not deserve to be the end all of who gets to hear these hard working comedians jokes. She is a miserable human being who clearly did not want to work on July 3;, 2024. I hope you get better help in there!
You usually get to see a handful of good comedians but you have to sit through an uncomfortable comedy montage before any performers get up. Each attendee will be required to order their poorly priced food or drinks so have a $50 bill ready for that. The times I have been there for comedy shows, I remember the hosts being unreasonably uptight about being seated if you had a member of your party running late, and then after the show they blare the music to get everyone to leave asap. Not enjoyable, not worth the money.PS take me off your mailing list, not sure how many times I have hit unsubscribe.
Seems it would be simple enough to clearly note arrival information on the tickets or email confirmation. Seems it would be even easier to have 2 lines form for the second show: One for VIP and one for non-VIP. The reality? A mob of people crowding into the full bar/entrance standing around or jockeying for access. Staff members shouting from the double doors for VIP to make their way through the crowd. Non VIP didnt hear, of course, and just started moving ahead so those already in line get pushed to the back.A stupid way to start a night. Thankfully the show was great but as the people sitting at the table with us said, That entry process gives us something to batch about while we wait for our drinks!
You are sitting at lunchroom style tables that are pretty thin and across from strangers unless you go in groups of 4. Its one thing to be sat next to a stranger, but these seats have you looking at each other so it can be a little uncomfortable. They pack you in the front like sardines even though there is space in the back. Ultimately, its a decent place for a show with good appetizers. I definitely would go back, but only if I went with a group of 4.
The opener/MC was good and had potential (2 stars for his sake), but the other three comics were like they were trying to work out material from the 90s. The kind of stuff that would be edgy in a group of middle schoolers. Food and drink were over priced (or under quality), service charges were silly, and staff kept harassing us to order more in the middle of sets. I cant imagine wanting to go back and regret spending as much as I did.
First off wow, talk about stumbling across a really cool place by accident. Seen Kurt Metzger last night with a few friends. Service was great and laughs were loud. The only thing that was difficult was seating arrangements. I would have loved to turn my chair and sit foward to watch the show but i would have blocked the 2 young ladys next to me if I had. Other than that great atmosphere and good food. I definitely will be returning.
The show was great. You are going to pay Mall of America prices and you have a two drink minimum for the show. The show we saw was great. The venue however was weird to say the least. They set you at a random table to pack the entire party in so the wife and I got sat next to total strangers at a table for 8 people. There was minimal room to move. All of the menus are online and linked through QR codes. I wouldnt recommend the venue at all but the wait staff were polite and fast, the performers were spot on and had everyone rotfloling. $10 for fried pickles and soda is $4.25 per person. Glad I didnt order any cocktails which ranged from $13.00 to $27.00. The venue sucks, the staff was nice, the menu is overpriced but youre there for the comedians.
I would give this place lower stars if it was just based on the comedy. The bar and servers were top notch. They were amazing. I would drink there again. The show however was horrible.I love comedy shows and I felt like the main person Hormaz and the third guy from LA didn’t really read the room when most of the audience wasn’t laughing. They just made jokes about multiple minorities in the worst way possible. It wasn’t like even a good jokes it was just them kind of ranting. They were more racist, homophobic, sexist digs than jokes. It’s the most racist and ableist show I’ve ever been to and it was boring. You can make great jokes that everyone can enjoy without doing digs. The host and the Mark Zuckerberg lookalike were and funny. They should have their own show. They were the best parts of the night and made everyone laugh really hard. I wish they had longer sets.I would see those two again.
It was my first time at a comedy club. Our group had a buffet style dinner inside first, food was very good. Four comedians total, including the host. Seemed like a lot of people given it was a Wednesday evening. The only crash and burn was someone I believe they referred to as new guy. Its like they grabbed someone from the mall and said come on in and get on stage. The other comedians were good not great but remember this is a comedy club in the mall of america. I would like to go back and bring some friends on a weekend and check it out.
This place hosts great comedians no doubt. Ive been to a handful of shoes here. However, the wont even give our water, the require you to buy drinks with any ticket (even if you won it), and the wait staff are pushy about minimums. You cant just buy a ticket and go to the show, you have to spend another $20. Its ridiculous and I think Im done going here.
First off, I will say that the show was great! The atmosphere is very comedy club and feels intimate. My knock comes from the extended wait time in the lounge, even with preferred seating, and the fact that while the venue has a two drink minimum, we were not informed that our purchased drinks while waiting for the show to start, in the venue, did not count towards that limit.
My wife, 18 yr old son, and I had a great time last night - the two comics were great and pretty clean.I am docking a star due to very salty food - we had purchased the dinner and a show option. Both my steak and the wedge potatoes were so salty it burned 😀Servers are very attentive. Had been several years since we were there last, but looking forward to going back soon!
This is a hidden gem. For being a comedy club, the food was really good. I ordered the western burger with fries, and it was really good! Very large portions, too. The loaded fries were also very good. The drink selection is really large too. I would highly recommend Rick Bronsons House of Comedy for a great show and some really good food too.
BEWARE: if you go here with tickets, or were gifted tickets (in my case) there is a 2 drink minimum even if you dont want anything! My waitress did not inform us of this. My husband ordered 2 old fashions for himself (both made incorrectly) and also a water. So thats 3 drinks total. Well over the two item limit. I was not drinking anything therefore why should I be forced to order a drink? The waitress was pushy and demanding. Ending up with 2 overpriced water bottles i did not want. This is not a strip club remove this ridiculous 2 item drink requirement or no one is going to return to your comedy venue, not even comedy clubs in vegas have this stupid rule!
Josh Blue was amazing. Laughed my a.. off. $7 drink special was alright and glad I ordered 2 right away as a friend suggested because that was the only time the waitress came by during the show. Ordered loaded fries which were impossible to eat in the dark - how do you separate an invisible chuck of cheesy fries in the dark?? Great place, lots of laughs and definitely a great evening. Highly recommended
2nd time here, and Im still not sure when they will get a little more organized. Went to see Gary Owens, and the place was packed inside and outside. There was no real setup. With a crowd so large, it would seem like there would be procedures in place. The vip was nothing but early entry into the event space, which was pointless because they let us in late. The bar was so packed that you couldnt really order a drink without bumping into anyone. The staff werent the nicest (I get they could be frustrated by the size of the crowd). The bartender yelled to everyone entering the even space that we might want to get drinks before going in because the service would be slow. The event space is configured with a number of small tables to make large tables that resemble lunch tables, so your view from the back isnt the greatest (get there early to get a good seat). The bathrooms were very clean and let me tell you! Gary Ownes owes me NOTHING!!! We laughed until there were tears in our eyes, our stomachs hurt and we couldnt breath!!! He was awesome!! Id go through this again to see him!
Updated March 14, 2020We stopped in to see Paul Mecurio. He canceled, but Ruben Paul replaced him. He was hilarious, and our party of four really enjoyed ourselves. The staff did a great job of spreading people out for appropriate social distancing. Once again great drinks and friendly staff. We’ll be back!—————————————————I attended the Saturday night 7pm show with Big Jay Oakerson. He was great and his opening act was hilarious. My gut hurt from laughing so much! The place is really cool and bigger than I expected. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Good drinks and good food at reasonable prices. The bar area was nice while waiting for the doors to open. Seating for the show was good. I didn’t feel crowded and the show was sold out!Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back. I like the mall location because parking is easy.
I consider myself HIGHLY involved /up to date in the comedy world, electronically. But I FINALLY went to my first ever comedy show at Rick Bronsons House of Comedy, for my birthday... And it did NOT disappoint! Already planning my next visit. Cant wait to come again!
Caught Sam Hyde and the MDE crew here - absolutely hilarious show. Cool venue and space, great vibe - a bit expensive but its a comedy club at the MOA, what do you expect. The reason for the four stars is the 2 drink minimum - not sure what that means or if its a normal practice within comedy clubs, but it also seemed sporadically enforced. Not sure what thats all about.Other than that, cool time.EDIT: Thanks for the response from the venue below - didnt know it was standard practice (Im not a huge comedy guy so I didnt know). Moved to a five star review! Thanks!
Comedy was great. Nice set up in the auditorium. Food is ok. There is a minimum food and drink order. People seemed to enjoy their mixed drinks.
Good music and some funny comedians. They have a one drink minimum, so you’ll spend an additional $7+ once you’re inside. Food prices are $10+.They had some printer malfunction when we went, so the waiter never came back to our table to collect our drawing entries or run our card. We just left cash. Otherwise it was an enjoyable experience.
Giving this place 2 stars just because the comedians were great. Service was crappy and management wasnt friendly or understanding. Keep in mind if you purchase a ticket there, you wont get refunded if unexpected plans have changed.
We purchased tickets online and there are processing fees / service fees which adds up to the cost of a ticket. Upon arrival, we were rudely greeted by the General Manager informing us that there is a 2 item minimum per guest, and that drinks purchased at the bar does not count towards the table minimum. We were seated at 6:45PM and finally got to place our drink order at 7:15PM, which didn’t arrive until 7:30PM. Overall, the service was horrible, the food was mediocre, and the comedians were average.
Rick Bronsons House of Comedy was a fantastic experience. Rudy Pavich started the evening with a set that had everyone laughing from the get-go. Comrade Tripp kept the energy high with his hilarious observations and witty humor. K. Trevor Wilson closed the night with a performance that was both sharp and incredibly entertaining. Each comedian brought their own unique style, making it a night to remember. If youre looking for a great time and lots of laughs, this is the place to be!
Eddie Ifft was hilarious! I laughed until I cried! Food was great! Our server, Austin, was fantastic! Cant wait for our next visit!
First time at the house of comedy in the Mall of America. Excellent venue the staff was fantastic food and drinks were also very good. Make sure you plan when you go to the Mall of America to be sure that you find a great comedian thats coming in town. Step one my kids attended this venue for a famous YouTuber and really enjoyed the whole experience.
We had purchased VIP tickets. Arrived 45 minutes before showtime, plenty of seating available when we arrived. The person seating wouldnt allow us to sit in a certain area and insisted we sit off to the side even though we mentioned we had VIP tickets. We later mentioned this to the manager, Jasmine said she would comp us an appetizer as no VIP seating was left for us to sit in. We declined, asking to be refunded the difference of our tickets and general admission. She said she would come find us later but never did. We tried to find her after the show, she was nowhere to be found. We called on Sunday, the GM said it all depends on what time we arrive for the show and seats available. We explained the above situation. He agreed to refund the difference but not until a few days from now.The people seating is were not very professional and outright rude. I feel like they could do a better job of reserving the VIP seating in the future instead of just putting people wherever they want based on arrival time rather than the price you pay for your tickets, otherwise why charge more for VIP seating???The comics were hilarious, but the staff made for a not so great experience.
Do not waste your money on VIP! At the end they will seat you wherever! I purchase VIP tickets to see Rene Vaca, and it was my first time attending this place. They escort me to my “section” realize it was full and told me to seat wherever.?! I wish I would have known it was a waste of money! Just get there early to sit up front
Changed from 1 star to 3.5, the manager covered our tab and gave us free tickets. He said he would talk with the staff and let them know a few things. Steve Lunden was very professional and respectful. Our server flat out lied to us, she said we couldnt leave our seats, even though we were here an hour early! She sat a group of 6 next to us and they didnt like their seats and they just moved and she was like, okay fine. When we asked to move since they did, she told us NOPE. We will never be coming back to this place. And a heads up to people coming here for the first time, dont get seated first, they sit you right next to the stage, all the seats are literally on top of each other. Thankfully the people sitting on my lap (joke) are nice. A better place to go would be ACME comedy club. The seating is better. The drinks are WAY better and cheaper, and the servers are nice and dont lie 🤷
I usually like the comedians they bring in, the price is decent but the space is ridiculously small. Im not a fan of the closeness which makes it hard to eat but either way I have never not enjoyed myself. The food is ok and the drinks were good. I recommend ordering from the main menu as the dinner they give is very limited. The staff could be nicer but they are stressed. If you dont like tight spaces. I do not recommend.
We saw Doug Stanhope here. It was a great show. We ate before heading in for the show at Game Works, so no review for food here. Drinks are proceed high, but we knew that going in. Staff was all friendly. We went to the bar over using the waitress, that was faster. Would see more shows here for sure.
Went to see a comedy show our friend Jesse was hosting & it did not disappoint! Had a lot of good laughs. The wait staff was very attentive, so customer service was great. We grabbed a couple of pieces of cheesecake, which was delicious, and a couple of drinks/hard ciders. Prices are a bit high for my liking, but that is just my opinion as a lower income person. 😬 But...would not hesitate to go again to see our friend perform because he is FUNNY!
There for a work event, had a good time and the food was very good as well. The waiting area before the doors open is a little small and the bartender either needs to find a faster gear or be given help.
Terrific!! In addition to TJ Miller being awesome, the opening comedians were great, too. We really liked the facility and the service was top notch. We only had drinks and did not order food, but the food that others near us ordered looked and smelled wonderful. The next time we go, we will try the dinner option.
After arriving early enough to have time for dinner, as the weird requirement to order 2 items as well as your ticket price needed to be satisfied. When my food finally arrived it was incorrectly made, I was given no cutlery, and the chicken was dry and overcooked.I asked the woman who brought the food for some cutlery and was completely ignored. She said nothing at all and just walked away. After trying to get the servers attention for some time I got up and got my own damn utensils from the server station. Perhaps if you require patrons to order off the menu, you could not have it be such a miserable affair.Club was a mediocre environment, dinner was horrific, but the headline performer was wonderful. Two stars. I wont be back.
Great food! Great service! Great show! Will definitely make this my goto when I come down to the cities every month!
I had a wonderful experience! It was my first time coming to House of Comedy, and I had no idea what to expect. Got a beer inside and then a happy hour rum and coke, and I was decently surprised at how good the rum and coke was. They book wonderful comedians, and I was lucky to meet the headliner! They have a drink or food minimum, but let me be clear: most comedy clubs have minimums! Support your local comedy club and just enjoy your time!
Too many seats, so I spent my dinner show that we arrived an hour early for with my back to the performers. Or having to twist around uncomfortably in my ancient diner style table chair.
Quite possibly the worst venue I’ve ever been to. They pack you in like sardines at long tables where everyone is climbing over you just to get by. The food is subpar pre frozen bar food. If you’re going to force people to a two item minimum order then perhaps you should staff your bar and kitchen better. Because I’m sure slamming both areas with the entire club’s order is a brilliant idea, but being a 23 year restaurant vet I wouldn’t know would I? It took 45 minutes to get my good and almost an hour to get my drink. I will say the service staff is busting their butts trying to help everyone. The management staff is rude and didn’t appear to be super helpful. No there’s better places to see comedy shows and if it means I have to wait to see a certain comedian, then that’s what I’ll do. Best to skip this place.
Overall experience 8/10. Here are a couple tips...You will have to still get the 2 item minimum for the show even if you order the dinner. If you dont want to sit in the front come a little later. Dont come late but come later because they have their way of doing things which means they want to fill up seating. It was so sad seeing people arguing with the hosts about where to sit. Their club, their rules. And its a comedy club you should be in a lighter mood anyways. And come prepared to spend a little dough (cash/dinero). The dinner was good (I had the salmon and shrimp) but having to do the 2 item minimum in addition to dinner plus tip adds on to it as well.Next time I will just buy the ticket and order a la cart. This was my first time going and I would come back knowing better so I can do better.
The manager is so friendly and accommodating , I wish I got her name but we me and my bf were late to a show and she still let us in and helped us find our friends in the big crowd for the don donahue show - thank you again . The atmosphere was great and the servers are attentive . Would definitely go again .
My third time here. Have always had a good laugh. Its a fun night out.
We just returned from seeing Josh Blue at House Of Comedy. First time we ordered from I’d there, and it was unexpectedly very good. Sight lines are good from anywhere you’re seated. Looking through the lineup now for the next show we’ll attend.
The talent was great. I was cracking up all night. The restaurant itself, not so much. There is a 2 item requirement. Like you have to buy two things no if, ands, or butts. Its also a pretty spendy menu so all of a sudden it was a $20 add on per person I wasnt expecting. But the real kicker is when the staff DO NOT tell you about upcharges. So while I was trying to enjoy the show I got the bill which was way more than I anticipated. Completely ruined the end of the show for me.
Great place to watch a comedy show. Not a bad seat in the place! Always have great comedians. Been to many comedy shows here!
First time here and wasnt too bad; would be open to checking it out or giving it another chance. The space and viewpoints are good but the acoustics were really troubling. It was hard to hear or understand the comedians at times and you couldnt remotely understand the announcements. It was a packed house but was disappointing that we couldnt order a second drink.
The food is very good, but expect to pay twice the price of anywhere else. The comics are a bit hit and miss. About 20% are bad. About 60% are just Ok, but you will laugh and leave happy. About 20% are really good. Most likely you will leave happy and want to come back again soon. My first time was to see Asinio Hall and I have been back eight times.
The bartender was great. Service inside was OK. Opening comedian/MC was awful. She was racist and rude. I hope I dont have to sit through her torture ever again. The second comedian was OK but not great. Headliner was awesome. He was able to identify that the crowd was loving his stories about food, and he had us all laughing til the end of his set.
The space was excellent and the employees were wonderful. We saw Steve Byrne and from having watched him live and also his comedy specials the best compliment I can give him is that he must have hired excellent editors for the specials. The opener and the middle guy (I think he is called the feature) were super funny.5/5 would go again.
Traveled 4 hours to see a show. Entertainment was excellent, food was good , server was good. Hostess was Rude and unprofessional. After being seated next to the speaker we tried to move a few rows back. We’re told we couldn’t move in a very harsh tone. The place was 3/4 empty. Several times the hostess tried to take our food and wine glasses before it was obvious we were not finished. We had been to the club and recommended the club a number of times in the past, I can’t see ever returning.
I think the bartender is a thief. I was there with my wife having drinks after work, I paid and asked for a receipt. The bald battery got pissed and started to ring in our order after I had paid him. The amount on the receipt was less than I paid. I asked his name and he told us to leave.
Went with a bunch of family for my moms bday. We had a great time. We will go again sometime for sure.
That line ups they bring are always hilarious. Their bartenders are great for setting the vibe before the doors open, so go early to pre game at little. The management runs a tight ship. Its very obvious that its like conducting an orchestra once the show starts. They do a great job making sure audience members have minimal needed to miss a minute of the show. However, they cant stop your from laughing so hard that you pee a little. If youre a comedy fan, youre in for a treat. If youre are not yet a fan of comedy, youre in for a treat. Its the best nightlife in the mall.
I always enjoy myself when I come here. Food and drinks are decent. Weve seen quite a few comedians and always habe a good laugh when we go
This place was a great find for us after a long week of dreary! The host, intro act and headliner were all super fun, and the drinks were average price for being downtown. Some people complain about the 2 drink minimum (which I’m sure would include the cheaper non alcoholic drinks too) but that’s standard comedy show set-up, so just know before you go and have a great time!
Great place. Good drink and food options. Spectacular bathrooms. 10/10 would laugh here again.
We attended the K-VON 7:30 pm show on Fri. July 7th. The show was great, but we later discovered there were serious problems with the dinner charges. Our credit card was taken by the waitress when we first sat down and ordered our drinks. She explained that the card was to run a tab for the evening. A few minutes later she returned with someone else’s credit card. We let her know it was a mistake and handed that card back to her. She returned a few minutes later with our credit card. After the show when the lights came up, the waitress returned holding several dinner receipts in her hand looking stressed and confused. She eventually returned to our table with the correct receipt which we signed before leaving. We found her confusion disconcerting so my wife checked our bank statement that weekend which indicated there were two separate transactions for 1 cent each when there should have only been one transaction. On Monday we checked with our bank again and our card had been run through and charged twice on July 7th. Once for $148.92 and a second time for $139.96. Neither of the charges was correct. Our bill should have come to about $119.50. including the tip. We had one bottle of Storypoint Pinot Noir @ $38.50, plus one additional glass of wine @ $11.00 + 1 diet cola @$6.00 + 1 Loaded Fries @$10 + 1 Mandarin Salad @ $13.50 and 1 hamburger at $15.50 with about a $25 tip. We called their front office a total of 4 times to attempt to resolve the issue. We were told their general manager would locate our receipt and get back to us each time we called, but we never received a call back. It was just me and my wife that night. We never authorized the amounts charged. I eventually had to file a fraud dispute with Wells Fargo and get a new bank card issued. Mistakes happen, but the apathetic response and lack of follow-up from their management was horrible. It should not have been this difficult to resolve. We called four times over the last 4 weeks and no one from the business ever responded.
For what it is, its worth going to see a show here (although I recommend making sure the headliner is someone youre actually familiar with and willing to support, not just some impulsive thing cause youre in town and feel entitled to a laugh) Smaller capacity, more intimate shows, make for better sets but you gotta bring the energy, not just the comics. The acts are usually pretty solid, but I swear the crowds here are always tired tourists from trekking around the mall all day smh.The service here is great, drinks are pretty good, food looks good but Ive never ordered it.Im only knocking this a star because of the drink order minimum on the tickets--my wife, pregnant the last time we attended, couldnt drink & ordered water, so they forced two bottled waters onto us to markup the bill and makeup the difference Im assuming...pretty underhanded imo, but I sucked it up and just had a water also.
I come here every chance I get to see comedians. I love the smaller venue and still get a great experience and laughs with it!Will keep coming back...I also like to enjoy their food and drinks (always a 2 item minimum) which is completely reasonable. I do wish the service was a little better at times as sometimes we order and get forgotten.
Had a blast went with a bunch friends and we enjoyed both comedians and atmosphere. Service was attentive and reasonable for a full venue. Prices were not out of line and food was awesome. Only complaint is I wish I would have checked it out sooner, definitely planning on coming back and soon.
We had a blast! James the host was awesome! Ulysses and Vlad were.funny as hell! Sooo worth it
Went to see T.J. Miller and he didnt disappoint. He was so funny and interacted with the crowd. We did the dinner and show, the food and drinks were great. We will be back, especially to see T.J. Miller.
Overall the experience was good. I feel like there maybe should be some additional space between people and tables. I really enjoyed both comedians even though I wish their sets were longer. But that tells you how great they were. What I was really disappointed in was the quality of the food in which I spent a decent amount of money on which was overdone and dry. I will give grace where its due because there was a tech issue with the ticketing system which caused the Kitchen to have to scramble like crazy to figure out who ordered what for dinner and a show tickets. But I can say neither of us in my party were impressed.
Just left there after my first visit. It was a great experience. We did the dinner and show. The price was surprisingly low. The food was delicious. Great portions. The staff was awesome. The comedians were hilarious. Cant wait to go again soon.
Not a bad spot for local comedy. Not from around here, but cheap-ish drinks and decent food. Good service at the bar and inside.
We purchased tickets a couple months ahead of time for dinner and a show. The night of the show we were eventually told there was a good delay. That then turned into being informed that there wasn’t enough. We had to choose our meal ahead of time so clearly this is very poor planning. We got a salad and dessert along with a coupon for a future show.
I frequent this spot with the lady. Always good. Great national headliners! Grab the State Fair platter if youre with a small group, some of the State Fair faves on one platter...
Show was just ok. Management and staff are rude. Food definitely is overpriced. Be aware- if you chose to pay cash they will ask for your card to hold but still take your cash AND charge your card. There was no signature on the receipt either. They will give you the run around when you ask them to rectify the situation. Its been 11 days and theyre still waiting for the person who does refunds to get back to me! Time and money wasted.
Steve Trevino was great! Had some good laughs.. Staff did a great job. It was a full house and they were running getting orders. Wait times for drinks were quick. Food order took a little longer but it was hot and tasty when we got it. Would highly recommend!
Food is good, staff... Well, most are really great about checking in making sure your drink is full, seeing if you need anything and others, you have to wave down multiple times.Comics are hilarious, great main headliners!I would recommend, such a great evening out.
Food was good. Show was great, funny. Only bad part was I had two large guys in front of me so I was straining to see the whole time. Especially the guy next to me turned his chair and took up his space and most of mine. If I go again I will be more ready for that kind of thing to happen. I was still facing the table so he backed his chair right up to me so I could not turn mine or have any leg room. Very rude! And I didnt want to make a big deal because I didnt want to ruin the evening for the rest of the group with me.
Went to see KVon and we loved him! Very funny and definitely worth it! Seating was a little weird, would have preferred small round tables than the long conference room tables but still had a great time!
Very comfortable atmosphere, had a great time...fun night! Get there when doors open, enjoy a drink at the bar before you go back to find your seat. Food is good as well. Opening acts before the main act were very funny, would definitely go again!
Comedy is fantastic seen many show there. Food is pricey so expect to pay alittle more than expected. It adds up fast.
2 menu item minimum is annoying when we already paid $30 each for a seat. Just charge an appropriate amount for the show and make food/drink optional, not a hidden cost.
I honestly laughed so hard that my cheeks and my side hurt at the end. It was great to meet the comedians after the show. The down side is that they were very under staffed there, it took awhile for our food and drinks to come. The man who seated us was rude and so was the woman taking tickets. I would still definitely go here again, although I would eat before hand. The food was super expensive and definitely not worth what I paid for it.
Sean will serve you for free if you tip him 20$. Thursdays to Sunday. He will also walk you in to the show. He is a thief!!! I paid 60$ for 15 drinks and four admissions. 100% see Sean
Great comedy! Service is awful! Ordered drinks and food right away. Drinks came in an okay amount of time, completely forgot about my food and never brought it out. Checked on us again maybe twice the rest of the 2.5 hours we were there. I watched sections getting taken care of, so it was just our server who wad the pits!
Great comedy show.. However!!!! beware of excessive charges on your credit card.... I purchased and signed for $46.00 worth of food and drinks at this place with my debit card.. when I checked my online checking account the following day, I noticed that they charged my card for nearly $100.00.... Also the food was terrible, the fried chicken wings came directly out of the fridge, the wings were ice cold..... This place is under staffed to the max .. do not give these people your credit or debit card, use cash only ..
I attended the 7pm New Years Eve show. The host was hilarious and both of the acts were hilarious. It was my first time ever in a comedy club period, and the experience was the best all around. The food was great!! My group enjoyed the State Fair platter. My husband and I had the loaded fries with the Chicken Strips. Not only was it very filling, it was all sooooo good and cooked perfectly. So thank you to the wonderful staff, it was our waitresses first night on the job and she was phenomenal!!!! She was polite a glasses never went empty and her service was superb. Couldnt have asked for a better experience or a better way to spend New Years Eve with the love of my life and good friends. I would Highly recommend The House of Comedy to anyone looking for a good laugh, great food or a great place to venture with family and friends. Thank you to the House of Comedy and staff. Happy New Year to all
Food was way better than expected, and it was a great experience for my first comedy show
We absolutely loved our first visit to the comedy club. Will definitely come back. Staff were very polite and professional, food was your usual bar food and the drinks were a bit on the pricy side but we knew that going in so no surprise there. I loved that we sat very close to the stage. Makes for a great first experience. After the show Steve Treviño offered pictures and autographs at no cost which was a very nice gesture.Thank you for an amazing date night. We laughed until our faces hurt!
It all depends on who you are seeing for an act. If its a sold-out show, be prepared for nuts to butts and slow service. Which is expected as no one wants to work anymore. The drink prices are ridiculous and seemed watered down for the price you pay. At the end of the day its just a venue that is there to make money with little to offer other than the person you paid to see.
Fun comedy club and they draw big name performers and the local performers are good too. Not a bad seat in the house. Food is decent. I like the shareable appetizer plater. I have not done the dinner and a show so I cannot comment on that.
Good place for shows. Service is just a little busy during shows.
One of THE worst experiences ever! Comedian line up brought more crickets and snores than a chess tournament. We bought 6 tickets and were given a table with 2 chairs. We ordered drinks and they never came after 30 minutes. I think the waiter drank them. We left because we couldnt take it anymore. Pure torture!
Love this comedy venue. I recommend the dinner and a show since the food is great and the price is a good deal. If you just get the show, they have some bar type appetizers and sandwiches for anyone to order. Its a great spot for anyone visiting the Twin Cities or the Mall of America. Its located on level 4 in the mall and its fairly easy to get to from the east parking ramp.
Open mic night Tuesday is only $5 to get in which is pretty good for the Mall of America. They happened to have a $5 cheese curd special but everything else was typical MOA pricing. I have not been here in 5 years and it was a Friday night. It was definitely better then.Tonight was an open mic on Tuesday night tho so of course different circumstances. The post-Covid effects are still affecting this place like other restaurants. Painfully slow service. 2 servers for 22 guests. I would have ordered more food or drink and they could have made more money off me. I was underwhelmed.Mike Brody was the best and he was a pro! They had a heckler and he handled them with comedic flair. The talent they had there was good but I had already seen them for free at other open mics.
First time at a comedy club. Definitely an older crowd, both performers and patrons. Liked the cheesecurds and the booze was gooood. Saw @itslahiru and Drew Dunn, liked both of them, the opener Kjell was funny with mn jokes but I feel he could have been less awkward
I have tried seeing at least half a dozen shows and every time its the worst service ever! We always try after awhile again to give the benefit of a doubt and regret it always! We went a couple years ago for a Special Valentines dinner and show package and we along with several other couples did not get our food or a drink! So, they gave us free tickets to come back and try again as an apology. Well, we tried to use thos last night for the 945pm show, even called early afternoon to be sure they were valid and was assured they were. Well, we waited in line for half an hour and then we make it up to the ticket lady and she denied us entry saying we would have to go to the end of the very long line and wait for the paying customers first. I couldnt believe it! We got those tickets for them treating us so bad before as an apology and then to be treated worse upon trying them out again!! Will NEVER go there again and will be sure to let EVERYONE know the type of establishment that it is!!
Paid for dinner and a show. Dinner was terrible, I couldnt even eat it it was so salty and gross. They never brought out the dessert which is fine considering how terrible the main course was. The comedy was good but the seating arrangement is horrible they wont even let you sit in the back of you want to.
We had tickets to see Jamie Lissow. It was the last show of 4 performances. We show up to find out that the show was canceled. We did not receive an email or text from the comedy club notifying us of the cancellation. They have known for at least 2 days that the show was canceled due to weather. We paid 140.00 for a hotel so we could see the show. This is no way to run a business!!!!! So disappointedThank you for the prompt reply. There is not an email in the junk file. It was never sent. I did receive an automated reminder yesterday to down load the tickets (for the canceled show). I shouldn’t have to look on your social media to see if a show was canceled. There is no post your Facebook or Instagram stating that the show was canceled. I understand that weather can impact a show. It is the lack of communication from house of comedy that is not acceptable. I could have cancelled the hotel reservation if I was notified.
Great place for comedy! Saw Steve Byrne and he was hilarious. Had the mini donut sundae and it was decadent and delicious. Flatbread was very good as well.
The staff was great, drinks were alright, comedy was hilarious! Especially the local comedian, he had us rolling! Couldve done without the obscenely drunk lady that kept interrupting the comedians (she honestly shouldve probably been escorted out), but the comedians had fun with her so it added to the hilariousness, and she eventually half passed out anyway. Fun all around. Will be going again!
Was in last night for the Big Jay show. It was my first time coming to the House of Comedy. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The seating arrangements werent overly crowded. I felt comfortable and well taken care of. It was a blast! We will definitely be coming back soon!!
They have comedians that find it funny to make jokes about disabled people. I wrote them an email trying to explain my disappointment about their show and nobody has responded.. . It is not a safe place to go if you have special needs. They dont care they think its funny.
Went and saw a comedy show last night the comedian was not good at ALL the host was way better the show was also supposed to end at 9:15 and by almost 9:30 it still had not let out like the guy was just dragging on..... And then there was some woman and her daughter in the audience who had to be told to be quiet several times its clear that the two of them were highly intoxicated legitimately getting up and asking the comedian in the middle of the show to take pictures with them these people should have been removed from the audience immediately but they were allowed to stay thats okay I left instead. I have seen some good shows here in the past but its clear that its going downhill fast
If i could rate 0 stars, my mom won free tickets for her birthday, and the staff like our server Sara will be very very and claim in the ticket stubs you need to order 2 items per person! No where in there was there anything written in there . We left when the main act came on
We had a great night. Ive never been to a live comedy show. This one was great. I would definitely go back. Having the dinner option was nice. Our server was great. Well worth the visit.
Good comedy, terrible staff. First they give us the wrong menu. Then they got our order wrong. They served gluten food to someone with a gluten allergy. They forgot my wifes order and when my wife complained, they threatened to kick her out. They took my sandwich before I was finished eating it.Evidently this all happened because our server was new. We ended up leaving and going to Hooters where we were treated very well. Thanks to Hooters for showing my wife a great time on her birthday!
Fiance and I happened to be walking passed yesterday and decided catching a show might be a good way to spend our evening. We were not disappointed! The comedians were hilarious, the staff was courteous, venue was clean. Our only complaint was that it took a while to get beverages and we had to pay $4 for me to have WATER. Will definitely be back the next time we make it to the area.
Great show and host. The drinks were high-priced as you might expect and the service was very curt, but it met expectations and we had a great time! The ticket prices for our shoe also included fees not advertised so beware of that. It costed an extra $10 per person based on fees.
We went to a show on Wednesday night and all four comedians that performed were hilarious! We arrived early (not knowing what to expect with a sold out show) and had great seats. I like the way the floor is setup so that you sit at tables instead of theater style seating. The show moved quickly without downtime between acts. Our waiter was very friendly and had great recommendations. We would definitely go back!
Been here twice with my wife and both times are great. We have been to some other places and have spotty laughs. I would do 5 stars if price was a bit cheaper. However, then again I have been to cheaper and felt like it could have been way better.I have seen some of the reviews. Our experience was similar in ways that service was normal for packed show. The wait staff and servers we doing a great job making sure we all got served. It is like this at many comedy places. Since this serves more people than others, I expect some wait.I plan on returning as my wife and I always go to comedy shows. This is accessible too I should add as Acme is not really accessible. All in all I would definitely recommend this to people. I even recommended to coworkers.
I’ve been here twice. They have reasonable ticket prices and great standup comedians. Food and drinks are a bit pricey, but that’s expected. Not a huge fan of the seating layout, it get sort of awkward if you’re facing away from the stage and you have to turn your seat all the around (they have table seating). Service could be improved a bit, seems like it takes 20 min to get a can of beer, plus I’ve had waitresses forget my order. But overall the servers do a good job of getting around and making sure everyone has multiple chances to order. Definitely recommend
My wife & I went this past Wednesday night & was not disappointed. The club wasnt packed considering it was mid work week and we still got a full show of entertainment. All 3 comics were great and worked with the crowd. It was nice to see the comics still give us every bit worth of what we paid for and more based on the crowd size. My wife who just started dipping her feet into watching stand-up said right after the show that she cant wait to get back. The ONLY downfall was that there werent more people to appreciate what we saw tonight. That was some of the best stand-up Ive seen & it made for a grade A date night. I personally prefer small crowds because they seem more personal. The vibe was still hype and I can imagine a weekend show is insanely fun and energetic. Cant wait to go back!
This comedy was great! I thought that having them seat you next to talk strangers at the same table while you are trying to enjoy dinner was absolutely ridiculous. Like you are literally rubbing elbows with strangers that are breathing on your food and it is awkward to attempt to talk about anything when you are so uncomfortable. I mean we are still dealing with Covid and although I wasnt wearing a mask, I wouldnt think Id need to when Im eating. The waiter was absolutely awesome. He was so nice and very eager to do his job.The food was good. The prices were insane. You have to pay for water, as they do not allow you to order a glass of free water from the faucet.
Went and saw Pauly Shore at the club and it was absolutely hilarious. The seats that we got for general admission were great. The service was awesome and the drinks were good. The host of the show was great and kept the shown going in orderly fashion while at the same time making it funny. I would recommend this club to anyone to go see a show.
We really enjoyed the comedy show! The buffet was a little cold once we got to it but Id absolutely visit again. Just be aware that the drinks are spendy but well crafted!
The comedy was better than usual, due to a special comedian, (Josh Wolf) but its always a bit expensive for so-so service and bar food. Two tickets, four drinks, two appetizers, $155.00. One waitress serving a huge section meant we didnt get drinks for about 40 minutes after being seated. Id recommend getting drinks at bar in front and carry them in. Or order two drinks at once, as you wont see waitress for a long time. Still, its a fun place. And the wait staff would quit if they hired more waitresses and had to spread out the tips. Even the ticket seller at front wanted a tip just for scanning our card, and he wasnt joking. Said management doesnt pay him enough to even make the drive in. I understand unemployment is low, but management needs to get enough of the right staff and pay what theyre worth so the customer experience is reasonable. Comedy today was 5/5. Usually 4/5. Service always a low 2/5 stars.
Would give zero if I could. Comedy is okay - sometimes good, sometimes bad. What really ticked me off was I spent over 100$ for 2 people (because you have a two food or drink item minimum per person ) which I didn’t get ruffled about because I knew this looking at their website. However what I’m upset about is after spending 100+ dollars they refused to give me a glass of water. It would be 6$. If I hadn’t been required to purchase 2 full price items (per person) I’d be ok with paying for the water.
Im giving a 2 star because Ive been here twice now. First time I went about 2 years ago and had great experience. Now the second experience didnt go the same. The manager was extremely rude on multiple occasions. I will say it was my birthday and I wasnt the quietest person but this manager was so inappropriately rude to me. I will 100% take accountability if I was being to loud, but him coming over to me and making a scene so all of the guest looked at me while the show was going on to tell me that I needed to shut up or I was getting kicked out. My friend was so embarrassed she left. Ruined our night thats for sure.
Ive been coming here for several years and as someone who travels for and attend comedy shows regularly, I highly recommend this establishment. They do have a 1 item minimum which isnt bad considering most comedy clubs require a two drink minimum.Even on busier or sold out shows, the staff are very attentive and do their best to make sure you get your food and drinks in a timely manner. The one rare time I did have an issue, the manager was super cool and rectified the situation right away.Whether youre there to see your favorite comedian or just passing by or want some other entertainment, be sure to stop at the House of Comedy!
I accidentally bought tickets for the wrong night(Thurs instead of Fri)! The staff was quick to help me out by letting me exchange my tickets. They were extremely friendly to my 16yr old daughter who was definitely the youngest person in the room. They joked around with her and made her feel extra welcome. Our server Steven was also pretty entertaining and quick witted. Even though we didnt eat, the food that people were eating around us looked and smelled amazing!
A nice spot for comedy shows. However drink prices are a bit on the high side. I ended up paying $9.04 for a single can of White Claw at the bar. During the beginning of the show, I tried to order a pop but it never came. It seems like they could not care less about you if you dont order an alcoholic drink. Again, nice venue, but poor service from my experience there
GOLD!!!!! PURE GOLD!!!!! I got my first ever real life REDDIT GOLD at this Comedy Club!!!!! Everyone here was a KIND STRANGEREDIT: MORE GOLD!!!!
This was a horrible experience once again. Time after time this place continues to just not get it right and I have given them soooooo many chances. The staff is just so unprofessional time after time. They gave free tickets from a previous disaster and we tried to utilize them only to stand in line forever and finally get to the front and then told we need to wait till the end and let all the paying customers go first. We even called them before arrival and were told, yep the tickets are usable and just show up. Hello lady...I was a paying customer the previous visit where you all failed and then felt the need to give out free tickets for another show.....but then rudely would not accept them properly. TRY TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE CUSTOMERS....just a suggestion 🙂
Had a fun time at the show. Only issue was the staff didnt say a word to anyone else about not taking pictures or videos the entire show, despite the staff clearly seeing other people doing so, but I took literally one picture and was immediately asked to put my phone away or be asked to leave. Pretty frustrating but the comedy was good.
First time there on 10/2/19 and the only thing good about this place were two of the four comedians. The first guy on stage was good, the second guy was absolutely horrible, I think they found him on the street corner an hour before the show. The third guy was okay. The head liner was out standing and would pay to see him again as long as it’s not there. Drinks were overpriced and the service was terrible. The server took our order before the show and then never came back around until 30 minutes before then end of the show. To top off the night. My wife went to the bathroom before we left and as I was waiting for her, I was told by an extremely rude female worker that I needed to leave the room now. I told her that I was waiting for my wife, her response back was “I don’t care you need to leave now”. I told her I would leave as soon as my wife comes out of the bathroom and that’s when the employee got loud and started making a scene and saying she will call mall security. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE. Go to Acme Comedy Club. They know how to run a club. I have always had a great experience at Acme.
I’M glad that my wife and I came to The House of Comedy! The staff is great!JUST when I didn’t think it could get any better they brought our drink and food in a timely manner!DOING this well as an establishment will guarantee my future patronage!THIS place is awesome!!!FOR a reasonable price you get some great food!FREE chances at winning tickets is awesome too!!!TICKETS were very reasonable considering the amount of entertainment you get for the price!
Weve been to the House of Comedy several times and have had a great time! Not only were the headliners funny, the warm up comedians were funny too! We have had appetizers there which were good but weve never had a meal. If its a popular comedian, be sure to get there early and get in line as seats are first come ... but its a small enough venue that any seat would be fine. :D
2 people, 3 drinks each and a flat bread pizza that tasted horrible spent over $200 then were rushed out the door the second it ended. He yelled at me to drink my $15 drink faster or leave it and exit. There were 3 comedians only 1 was good, typically Im in tears laughing so much at these things but they didnt interact with the audience or relate to minnesotans because they were from the UK. We unfortunately wont be coming back to this one.
The comedians were pretty good. The food was very good. I was not overly impressed with the price of admission. When you factor in the mandatory service charges for a box office purchase, it is significantly more expensive than acme downtown.
Club was expansive but had us all sit in the same very small area on top of each other. Electronic check in didnt work so well at the front office. Drinks were crazy expensive at $13 a piece (Surly beer was $6 a can)I cannot blame the club for the comics, but they were pretty underwhelming and we were disappointed in the acts.
Overall a good experience. Opening act was very good, headliner was great. Food was good. The cover and 2 item minimum made for an expensive evening.
My wife and I went to our first comedy show here and the place was fantastic, the warm up comedians were hilarious and the headliner was even funnier. The waiters were polite and took the time to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of.Definitely will be coming back.
The food and beverage menu was pricey, but a variety of food options available. Fine on quality. Ordered another beverage mid-performance and when the server came back to get a last call order I could only then inform her it never came. The exterior bar and doors opened right when the website said they would. Might want to consider opening the exterior bar at the time the box office opens, could draw more attention to people walking by and attract more walk-ins.The house packs you in front-and-center and fans out from there to make sure everyone gets as close to the stage as possible. Which makes sense from a performers perspective to not feel like they are preaching in church. If you dont like staring up the emcee/performers noses and dont enjoy being picked on, arrive a little closer to show time or move yourself away from the stage.Went on a Sunday, which I highly advise to NOT attend a Sunday show... the crowd was small, which everyone on the mic commented on. It was the end of a run of shows, so each performer was either bored or burnt out. The headliner(s) seemed uninterested and even mentioned they were paid regardless so they were happy to simply fill time. My wife and I were excited to see Leonard Ouzts from what we had seen of his past performances, but it was more of him and his entourage bantering instead of a comedy set. Hugely disappointed, and most of the other people in the crowd appeared to agree it was a bizarre show. What an overall unique experience... The show itself brings the rating down.
Oh god if I could give it negativesss I would trust and believe. The manager brain was so rude to me and my friend bc we had outside food, there wasn’t a sign that said no outside food allowed yet he came to my table so abruptly and yelled “no outside food allowed here” with so much hatred and attitude. like no excuse me or better tone. I was really thrown by that act and I felt targeted as minority looking how that space was white dominate. Plus the food that the place was serving wasn’t accommodating to all food and dietary restrictions. On and all service was terrible.
The comedian was great, how we were seated was very odd and didnt make sense. We had People come in after us that were give much better seats. My server was flippiant with the questions I asked. She never came back after one drink. I would usually have two or three in a course of a show. I literally never had worse service in my life.
I paid $70 to see a person from the office and I was told that I need to purchase alcoholic drinks or waterI told them that I would address this after the show and they kicked me out of the show because I would not order in that momentIm livid that I spent so much money to be kicked out of the show not even halfway through**UpdateI told management I would be happy to pay when I leave! I did not want to be interrupted during the show! I told them that!
I went here yesterday evening to see Jack Jr for date night. We couldnt have been more impressed with our experience! The wait staff was very professional, and we laughed profusely. We will definitely be coming back! The drinks and food were superb as well. Id recommend their cheese curds! They had a great liquor selection and menu. I cant wait to come back!
Interesting variety of acts go through here, always worth watching the calendar to see if someone is coming who you want to see. They often have locals doing warm-up as well, resulting in a mix of big-name and local acts. The food is pretty good, with prices that are reasonable for table service. Our wait staff has always been attentive with refills on our soda as well - much appreciated when Im doing designated driver duty!
This was my first time at a comedy club. The host and opening act made me and the crowd laugh more then the main act. The service and prices is what I expected. I just wished the crowd and myself had a better experience.
It doesn’t look like there’s a bad seat in the house. This was our first time here. I wish I had checked it out before arriving. We ate in the mall and could have arrived a little earlier and got food on site. I saw a couple huge burgers go by that looked awesome. And now a giant cone of fries and sliders. Well, now I have something to look forward to. Staff has been friendly. With a sold out show, I hope they can keep the beer flowing!
First time at the House of Comedy and it was excellent. Steve-o was amazing. The staff was friendly, the waitress was attentive. My only recommendation would be a different table set up for more of a date night feel rather than the long table with several people. But overall it was a great night :)
Atmosphere was nice. Stage was small. Seats were somewhat crowded. The comedian we saw was good. The most upsetting part about this experience, deserving of the 2 star rating was being told we HAD to buy drinks once we were seated.
House of Comedy fails in almost every way possible.Minnesota State Statute 340A.502 states that no person may sell, give, furnish, or in any way procure foranother alcoholic beverages for the use of an obviously intoxicated person. Violation of this statute is a grossmisdemeanor. City Ordinance 360.60 states that no person shall sell or serve any beer or liquor to anyintoxicated person, nor permit any intoxicated person to remain on the licensed premises. Violation of thisordinance is a misdemeanor.Lets keep this in mind as I explain what I experienced at my first, and last, visit to this establishment.I decided to do something different with a friend of mine. We booked VIP tickets online early in the morning. After arriving a half-hour early to the show, as they asked, they couldnt find our names on the list. One of the attendants, asked us to simply find a table in the VIP area. After sitting for 20 min. a waitress finally showed up to take our drink order. 15 min into the set, the other VIP guests arrived. They were obviously drunk and made a huge deal about all sitting together. The host then proceeded to knock chairs around, run into my friend and I, and then finally tell us to move to a different table. Nice guy, real nice.Even though the entire party was beyond wasted, making noise and just being rude they were served more drinks, until one of them started breaking glassware and were finally kicked out. In the middle of the set, which was a huge disturbance to the show. All of this could have been avoided if they had been refused service to begin with. The room itself is tiny, dirty and sad. The set up is horrible, as people are constantly walking around and provides a huge distraction. Felt honestly bad for the comedians who were doing their best to keep the set together. Better luck at State Theater.
Went to the house of comedy last Friday and had a great night! We were sat right next to the stage and the waitress didnt see us for the longest time, but once my boyfriend approached her she was super apologetic and available for us to order food and drinks. Nice staff and venue overall! Will definitely return!!!
Always fun, good drinks. I always tip over 20% and the comics are always good. The only issue is the serve making the comment I’m not giving you water unless you buy something. Really rubbed me the wrong way. I always order a drink her but for him to go out of his way to say that. Rubbed me the wrong way.
Went to see Samuel J Conroe during last nights late show (9:30). This was my first time here and I had an amazing experience. Other comedians were interacting to us as we were waiting to get in and then again when leaving. We felt welcomed. I absolutely loved this venue. Posters inside were fun to look at.Definitely will be coming back. This venue gained a new regular customer!!
Horrible service . Come to find out there is a two drink minimum. No biggie I had ordered two. But my friend had not. The waitress keep harassing her. She must have stopped 10 times . Totally interrupted the show. Then the rude manager came out. Bottom line, don’t go if you want to watch the show . They are to busy making sure you buy your second drink . I’ll never go back
Theyve been sending out free tickets for several weeks so myself and a couple friends have been going regularly and we usually end up getting food and drinks and its a good time. This last time what bothered me was that I stuck to soda which are customarily free refills so I would expect the wait staff to mention that theyre not here when offering another so as not to cause confusion.I was more bothered that two of my refills had been done when the glass was still 30% full which is typical in a free refill situation. I wasnt expecting such a high bill at the end of the night. Managements offer, not that I was really expecting much, was four free tickets to a show even though theyve been sending out free tickets for weeks already.
I went here for my birthday- horrible idea. We got there early and ordered our drinks- they took 30 min to arrive while everyone around us was receiving their orders. A very intoxicated group came and sat in front of us which security had to talk to multiple times as well as the comic calling them out to sit down and let everyone enjoy the show. We left early and were treated poorly throughout the entire experience. I would not recommend wasting any money on this place.
This place is amazing! Ever time I have been there whether a date, small group or large group thru have been accommodating and professional. Ive also never seen a bad comic. They are all hilarious. The bartenders are awesome too. Always good pours, and good conversation and classy attitude and demeanor. Reggie always takes care of us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great time and laugh!
Saw K Trevor Wilson, with a couple of opening fellas…. Good show, clean but plain room- polite staff that was a little thin in the ability or willingness area (a couple next to us ordered a pop and a water; and I overheard the server tell them the water would be served after all the other drinks like it was some kind of burden….The food…F sakes. I liken the food to what you’d expect at a strip club buffet. Enough Mrs. Dash on everything to let us know that someone’s teenage kid was cooking, my meal was “edible” by legal standards; my fiancé went home feeling off….. neither of us finished a single course.Come for the Artists and Comedians,Skip the dinner.
Pregame before you head over, or wait until the show is done to go somewhere more affordable for drinks. I paid $55 for 3 basic drinks. Was never once offered any type of menu, and pricing was never explained.
Show was great, our sever was horrible. Ill go again, but Ill eat before the show as we werent provided the food menu. The other group at are table was served food, but had a different server. Drinks are outrageously expensive, 2 people, 4 drinks each, bill was $110.
The show I saw was amazing- but the service and food/drinks was subpar. $4 for a bottle of Kirkland water is ridiculous. No napkins, no silverware, no condiments. There is so room for improvement- I do not anticipating returning.
Saw Sean Donnelly tonight. Absolutely hilarious. The waitresses and staff were amazing, food was delicious, the club was clean and we got front row seats just by being a little early. The openers were also great. Perfect date night!
Great venue. Seen a couple of shows here . I really think this is my favorite joint to see comedy. Cozy , not crowded , great food. We were not able to make a dinner and show because of a blizzard,. They were super cool and we here were able to reschedule for the next days show. The staff is awesome! Thanks Rick !
The comics/talent were great! Absolutely did not like the seating arrangement in this place. You sit sideways to the table. Very hard to see the stage when everyone is sitting in a straight line. I saw more of the head in front of me. Dumb set up. Then, general manager disrupted the whole show to make sure a table that was too loud to his liking knew he was the general manager and he would personally escort them all out of the comedy club if they kept it up. Totally uncalled for to raise his voice and yell at that table in the middle of a show. There are other ways to handle that situation, very unprofessional!! Overall, a so-so experience. Id rather spend money elsewhere in the countrys largest mall.
Saw Pauly Shore. Place was clean, front end staff were absolutely amazing. Wait for food and drinks were less then ok, but the food was hot when it reached the tables. Pop was extremely slow. It was very well set up for a any seat to have a great view.
Love live comedy, however this venue needs work. Ive been several times and its never been packed in there, so why cram everyone so close together? Went to the early show and A host wouldnt allow another couple to sit next to each other, insisting it would mess all the seating up...there were about 50 open seats....so, really. Asked waitress for a water and got a look (like what else u ordering?) I just had two drinks at the bar. Not surprised she never got me one until I asked for a bottle of water... more than once. Girl, you were going to get a tip. Also 2 Jameson and gingers cost $22. Bring a flask and your own water.
For a comedy club the energy is quite low, regardless of how great the comedian is. I think that is why most of the best clubs are in a basement, it contains the energy. The food is decent but priced high and the drinks are ok but priced high. I only come here when I already know of the comedian performing. I wouldnt come here out of the blue for a good time on a random Friday or Saturday. Its just a tough room.
Two purchase minimum on top of ticket price was really silly…
I wouldn’t recommend the dinner & show package. We (the wife & I) went for the sold out Josh Blue show & understandably the service was very slow, but what was supposed to be a 3 course meal ended up only being 1 since we never got our salads or dessert, & the food we did get wasn’t good at all. My steak was wayyy overcooked & the cauliflower manicotti had a weird cream sauce that had both of us scratching our heads. The sides with dinner were mush frozen vegetables & potato wedges (the wedges were at least edible.). Had we not ordered a side app of fried pickles, we would have been left with empty stomached throughout the show. The MOA Manhattan drink was fortunately made well, and Josh Blue was unsurprisingly hilarious as heck, but we’ll definitely be making sure to have dinner elsewhere before attending any future shows at this venue.
We visited the house of comedy for a couples date night. The hosts were very fun and friendly. We saw Big Jay Oakerson, and really enjoyed the crowd involvement he brought into his set. The wait staff was very busy and struggled at times to get drinks out to the correct people. But overall the host and hostess were great, the venue was great, the comic was great, we will be coming back.
We went for the $5 night on Tuesday. The cashier charged my card and I saw that it was $9.40. I asked why it was not $5? She said it was a service charge. So we sit down and look over the menu. I was with 2 friends that wanted to order. We literally did not see a server all night. I paid a service fee and received no service. It is a scam. The comedy was decent. Definitely some good acts, but definitely some that need a new hobby.
The headliner was awesome but the comedian from Minnesota, a girl, was not. I felt super sorry for her and it became very uncomfortable watching as no one thought she was funny. The drinks were very expensive. I think we spent $100 for 2 ppl on drinks and they were pretty small for the price. Acme comedy has better drinks and sizes.
We had a great time! Worth every penny! Lara Beitz is my super hero -- I already knew that much! I was pleasantly surprised by their good food. Our waiter, Mariah was a attentive, very personable and genuinely kind. Rick Bronsons House of Comedy is a small, intimate venue and quite charming despite being located in a mall.
First time and it was a ton of fun. Service was good and the talent had us laughing all night. Great value for an evening of fun. Looking forward to stopping in again next time I am in town.
The comics were greatThe service, not so much. Weve come here several times and tonight I was disappointed. 20 minutes to get a waiter. Not prompt service on refills. Appetizer took 30 minutes and was disappointing. This used to be a good date night, not sure when Ill be back: (
First off my our bartender Marrissa was AMAZING!!!!!!!Secondly. The rest of the staff and the venue were fantastic and I really enjoyed my time here. I was clean and while the service was a bit slow, I still commend them in how well they did with such a packed show. I cant wait to come back for my next shoe here!!!
Just saw Josh Blue tonight. Acoustics were horrible. Unless you get there early and sit in the middle towards the front, you won’t hear anything. The only audience laughing were the 40% that could hear it. Complete waste of money. They have 2 speakers for the entire space. They should be embarrassed. Our entire group wasn’t able to hear 95% of the show. This is basic acoustics. I’ll never visit this place again. Josh Blue is amazing, very upset none of us were able to enjoy his comedy.
This place was great!! It was our first time so we didnt eat but the comedians were hilarious. The host was great and josh wolf was awsome!! Took my husband there for his birthday. Intimate setting makes it great as well .We will return for sure!! Hoping to do dinner next time, food looked great
Had never been here before. Was surprised that you had to sit elbow to elbow at tables with 8 other people you didnt know. Just hope you dont have some obnoxious loud laugher next to you. A little surprised at the high drink prices but I suppose they have to pay the bills. I am friends with Jay Mohr and went just for that show. I didnt know till last minute he was in town so I grabbed a general admission ticket. I asked the manager to tell Jay I was there after he got done and they refused to do so. I guess some pompous better then you manager thought there power trip was kewl so Jay didnt get a chance to say hi to me despite the fact he told everyone on the KQRS morning show on his call in interview he was looking forward to coming to MN and maybe being able to see me.
This was our first time here amd we had a blast! Our waitress was great and the food was delicious. We had the steak but will probably try the meatballs next time because they look awesome too. The hostess was super funny and the headliner Ruben Paul was friggen hilarious!! We were both crying with laughter the whole time. My wife and I cant wait to come back for another show.
Love coming here! Been here several times! We also love coming for the 5 dollar Tuesdays! Perfect place if your looking for somthing different to do instead of the typical dinner and a movie. This is 100 times better! They also serve food and drinks!
Third time going here. Waitress ruined the experience. I explained from the start that the QR code and URL link wasnt working, so I asked for a menu. She slammed the QR menu in front of me and walked off. Waitress came back and asked what we wanted, again explaining the QR and link werent working, and asking what kind of liquors they had, she said oh sorry and walked off. Third time she comes back and says if we dont order something she is going to kick us out. You can begin to understand our agitation, not only are we trying to enjoy the current performer (with $36 tickets in advance) which was one of the better performers, but she has yet to offer any explanation as to what alcohols she has, other than a full bar. Stop using covid as an excuse to not do your job. My husband finally dealt with her, and she told him what Tequilas and Vodkas she had. Why were you obnoxious and why did it take you 4 times to tell us what liquors you have? He ordered for me. I have no tolerance for obnoxious and incompetent staff. She could have left there with a $10+ tip but instead she received $2. Theres absolutely no reason to be obnoxious or other lesser terms.
Got to see Kristina Kuzmic here. She puts on a great show. Bathrooms were clean. Just annoyed that they didnt get to our order even though we made it during the first 10 minutes of the show and it was only fries. 🙄
We have seen 2 shows at Rick Bronsons House of Comedy at MOA (TJ Miller & Carlos Mencia). We had a great experience with both! The room is small enough to have a great view no matter where you sit! The servers are attentive. The hosts always are welcoming! I got a margarita and it was fantastic! The value for your ticket price is unbeatable! I will consistently be coming back as much as I can!
The Comics were great. The service of the wait staff was Horrible! We ordered Flatbread pizza and had to flag down a waitress for napkins. When we asked for some she had a serious attitude like we were supposed to wipe our hands on our clothing! Had to get napkins out my purse
I always wanted to go to the house of Comedy. I finally got to go and you guys did not disappoint. The staff was attentive. I saw people being served quickly and efficiently. I order the chicken Caeser wrap. It was the best I had anywhere and reasonably priced. Oh yeah they happen to have very funny Comedians. It is well worth your time people. A must see experience.
The food was actually pretty damn good. The waitresses were on top of everything without disturbing the show. The show itself was definitely hilarious. Some comics from Comedy Central tore it up for us easily. We enjoyed our time.
Giving it 3 stars only because the food was less than mediocre. The shows were great, the staff was very friendly and the service was good. I would definitely recommend coming here for comedy and drinks but Id eat somewhere else first.
This is strictly a review of the establishment itself, not the comedians that performed there- they were great! It’s EXPENSIVE. I paid 4 dollars for a WATER. Plus you are required to purchase a drink or food item once you are in the venue after you have bought your ticketThe opening video sequence to tell people not to use their phones is loud and obnoxious, not a big deal, just something I remember being put off by.The “host” of the show is not funny, and makes for a really awkward environment, not sure if they always use the same host or not, but the host at my show was painfully awkward and I wish all the time he spent talking was given to the comedians we paid to watch.Overall things seemed very unorganized
Went to see Godfrey with my fiance. It was great we loved the comedians that performed. The steak was slightly burned when my fiance ordered it medium. We waited 40 minutes for a new steak but it was still overcooked and the potatoes were cold the second time. Wed come back but probably wouldnt order the food again.
The show was fun and Piff was great; however, the performance was overshadowed by the lack of professionalism, rude attitudes and disregard of customers by the wait staff. Our waitress failed to bring us our drinks on time throughout the entire show (including the time prior to the show starting). She asked me three times what I had to drink even though she appeared to write it down the first time. Our food was given away to other tables and it took over an hour for me to even get my salad. The food started arriving right after the show began which actually disrupted the performance. Only one persons meal made it out in the first round. The rest of us had to wait another 30-45 minutes before getting our food. One individual NEVER received her food. During the show a completely new waitress came around and asked what we ordered. At the very end of the show another new waiter came over to distribute bills. All of the bills were wrong. The manager came over and took a few bills and corrected them. I told the manager I thought he should discount all our bills since the service was beyond horrible, but he just asked what was wrong with my bill. I repeated myself that the service was awful and ruined the show. He kept repeating whats wrong with your bill. I finally had my fiance deal with the manager because I couldnt believe how he was treating me. I am so shocked and disturbed by the service and treatment of the staff and will not be returning to this establishment. All that would have fixed this experience was the manager showing me some respect and understanding...instead he was aggressive and rude.
The main act was highly entertaining but the comedy club itself was rundown. No paper towels in both female and male bathrooms, along with no toilet paper in the stall I used. Our drink order was completely wrong and they double billed us for our drink order. So, I loved the comedian but I will never go back to this club.
Very good entertainment (though some acts were better than others) with some great quality food (I was expecting typical bar food). The caveat with the latter, though, was expensive. For example, the appetizer platter was good, but not $22 good. If youre planning to catch a show and a drink, thats fine, but stay away from the menu unless you have money to burn. If it werent for that, Id be giving this place my highest recommendation.
Date night default with great line ups and great food! After 12 years of marriage we started monthly date night to make it a priority and laughing is key. Great food and drinks help too;)
