First time on stage and as an audience member. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Dang, I think I know what Ive been missing. The comics were smart and witty. Every single one made me laugh and I think I have a couple favorites 🤔😊👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Definitely going back for more 🎤☝🏼
Incredibly tough here. The place over sold tickets, it was full with one seat left open and groups kept coming down looking for places to sit. People were sharing tables that werent in a group together. It smelt moldy, musky and stuffy. The headliner was amazing though! Had us laughing so much, he made it all worth it! Bartender we had was incredible! Went out of his way to make specialty drinks for me and i highly appreciated that! Great service by our waitress up stairs and the gentleman down stairs made us feel as though we were a burden to him at times.
Came here on my 37th birthday and I said something in the audience after the comedian had asked a question and people laughed. I then was called a heckler over the microphone by a red haired female that introduced the next comedian. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. My whole night was ruined. I have been to so many comedy shows and people in the audience participate. It was not an insult. I would never insult a comedian. I left in tears she was so rudeI will never come here again. I rarely go out and this place wad a big mistake!
Great venue with awesome entertainment. The food at the bar upstairs was delicious as well.Highly recommend for a night of drinks, dinner, and a show.
Get here early, especially if you plan to see a show. I recommend an hour early, and Im not even playing. Ive seen customers wait 30 minutes after a show has started so that customers can file out and they can take their seats. This place gets busy and for good reason. The comics, whether amateur or not, are so fly that youll be amazed by their acts and confidence and trash talks. Although these comedians try to be covert in their mockeries, its quite obvious who their pointing out and youll be marveling at your own cleverness for figuring it out.
Great show, some really funny comedians perform on the open mic and it’s a good time. Very few bad apples. Seating kind of sucks and it’s pretty tight.
First time visit to this comedy club. I was surprised at how small the area was, but it was ok. It made for a more intimate setting with some comedic crowd interactions.Yes, its in the basement, but it wasnt icky at all. It was clean, the tiny tables were all covered in black linen with a candle on each.We enjoyed the comedians. It was a fun date night.
Small space but cozy and fun. Comics were funny and the crowd was great.
HOT SPOT for late night comedy in the twin cities! 10PM Friday Night Open Mic is Legendary! People start lining up at 9:15pm!
The environment upstairs was nice, good vibes. Went to the comedy show and unfortunately all they talk about is weed and s*x so if your into that then great but not everyone’s cup of tea. Lacked a lot I had to leave I couldn’t take another weed joke. Maybe talk about many of the other popular things, health, relationships, singleness, food, life idk the list goes on.
Its a very small space. At first I thought it would be a little cramped, but it turned out to be a great venue for comedy. It was a little warm, but not too bad (and it was really hot outside when I went). The main bar upstairs is spacious and cool with big windows looking out onto the public square area.Theres no such thing as a bad seat in the comedy club area: If youre in the back, youre about 30 feet from the stage, and the small audience size gives you the feeling that youre out with friends. You actually get to know your fellow audience members as they interact with the comedians. Its really fun!The service was fantastic. Youre never left with an empty glass, the staff is super friendly, and they have a nice on-tap selection. Its also a nice location. Really easy to get to from the freeway and with several restaurants, pubs, and a brewery nearby (like within 100 feet).Highly recommended!
Im mainly writing this review to respond to JJ Brennans review.JJ Brennan showed up to the venue on their birthday. They were upset before the show because they didnt leave anything at their table in the front row so it was taken and they had to sit in the 2nd row. This was the first thing they were upset about.During the hosts set they were given a shout out for their birthday, a common thing done at shows if we know theres people celebrating anything.During my set JJ Brennen interrupted my jokes, causing me to improvise punchlines to keep the show on track (really funny ones). I light-heartedly said I feel like this is a conversation we could have after the show, hoping to sort of hint that it wasnt the appropriate time. Didnt really work as I heard her try to shout a couple other things during my set but I pushed through and didnt acknowledge them. Then at the end of my set I decided to do the rest of the comics a favor and simply asked the audience to remember to be quiet during the show for the other comics. The host came back up, and jokingly said raise your hand if you were heckling! like a disappointed parent. Birthday Girl yells I wasnt heckling I was talking! or something like that and the host goes Lady, you were textbook heckling. Meanwhile this is all pretty light hearted and the room is laughing.About a minute or so later during the next comics set I saw her storm out of the showroom to leave and stomp up the stairs while her friend followed behind (looking embarrassed). I asked the booth person if she got kicked out to which I was told nope, she just decided to leave I guess. The show went on great and everyone had an amazing time. I was glad she decided to leave, and if she had continued to interrupt the show she eventually would have been kicked out because this club is great at making sure the audience understands their role at the show and getting funny and great comics to perform.
The one time I did stand up here the set was 50/50 right down the middle. That has no bearing on anything however this place kicks butt regardless.Great everything. Drinks, food, the other comedians. Its nuts you cant go wrong
Went to the open night mic for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The acts were really entertaining.
Basement comedy is best comedy. They do a great job of giving opportunity to up-and-coming local comics and book touring comics at a reasonable ticket price. Its cozy spot and a great time.
We visited this place for a triple feature and had a blast. The place is cozy and the accompanying bar above is great.During the show, we had servers get our orders, the performers were very good, and even the food was actually very good.Once we were done we went upstairs for a couple of drinks and we couldnt have been more satisfied. Were definitely coming back!
A lively bar that boasts a FREE open mic night on Saturdays. Some comedians were good, some were so-so but who am I to complain, it was a free show (Donate a few bucks if you are able to, theyll appreciate it and itll keep them in business!) The food was standard bar food, the drinks were good and my waitress was phenomenal! As I was attending the show she came into the theatre and made sure my drink was refreshed multiple times. There is a paid parking lot which I reccomend if you are not familiar with the city otherwise there is plenty street parking nearby
A real contender for best wings in the city, get them Joey style. Come for the comedy shows in the basement, Friday and Saturday nights. It’s a classic little hole in the wall club. Good beers, good times. There’s pay per view sports too if you’re into that sort of thing
Really great spot for seeing a comedy show. The staff is really cool and they alwasy have great comics on the line up. MN scene is dope. 5/5 recommend
Its inside the Corner Bar, no obvious sign from the outside. Easy to order drinks from the table via QR code. Nice, intimate venue and no bad seats!
The bar upstairs seemed chill. The comedy club on the other hand didnt really seem like it was a comedy club. Here for an open mic night and any joke told, that the hosts found....in bad taste I guess?...immediately got the flashing red light. Equal time for everyone should be a thing. Good luck with your comedy club.
Bought tickets online in advance for an 8pm show. We arrived to the show a couple minutes after 8 because we had to park a few blocks away. When we arrived to pickup our tickets they had told us there was no longer any room. They had sold our tickets to seats because we didnt arrive early enough. The show had not even started yet and people were still grabbing drinking and getting situated. I understand that they want a full house, but the tickets were already paid for so they werent out any money. Then when we getting our refund I asked for some kind of receipt, but they gave me nothing. All they did was circle my name on a sheet of paper. Highly disappointed in the policy of this club.
My husband and I decided to try this place out for the first time yesterday. Our major complaint is that their reservation system for the comedy club is a complete fail. The website advises you that you can save money by just leaving them a voicemail that you are coming, and that you would receive a confirmation phone call 90 minutes before the show. Of course, in hindsight, the flaw in this system is obvious: what if they are sold out? Depending on where you are coming from, you will already be on your way. Anyway, we never received a phone call, but we ate dinner and had some beers in the bar upstairs. The only reason I am giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 is that the bartender provided good service, and the salad we had with our pizza was good. (The pizza itself was mediocre at best). Needless to say, by the time we had finished our dinner and went downstairs to the comedy club, the ticket-takers at the door had never heard of us, and the show was sold out. They informed us that we could wait around for 20 minutes to see if all of the other attendees showed up, so we did. Then the ticket-taker told us we needed to wait another 10 minutes before he could let us in, just to be sure that no one else was going to show up. At that point we gave up and left. Adding to our annoyance, we forgot to have our parking validated. So basically we drove downtown in order to pay to park and eat not-great pizza. Was the comedy funny? Who knows? We wont be back to find out. But if you do go here, be sure to pay whatever the extra cost is to purchase the tickets online, rather than trusting that their phone reservation system works.
Really fun place. Stand up had some great personalities. One part was dumb was when there was a bad comedian they would just pick on an audience member baiting them to response. If the audience member did reply, theyd spend the rest of their act trying to get the audience member kick out and the club would try to comply. If the comedians were good or at least respectful, it was a ball.
Let me start by saying I NEVER rate or review businesses, but I cant let this one go. Dont waste your time or money at this club. The environment was dirty, the staff was extremely rude and the comedians were NOT funny. Dont go here expecting to laugh and have a good time. We were told to shut the f*** up. Weve been to several comedy clubs and weve never experienced anything like this. Dont waste your money.. try somewhere else.
Great place to a great comedy show. The atmosphere is cozy and I feel connected with the preformers every time I see a show here. The open mic is a riot and I love seeing such a wide variety of performs. From first timers, to Comedy veterans. The only downside is the milque toast bro bar you have to walk through to get to the club.
Terrible, bad service, rude employees! Was asked to not laugh so loud, server forgot one of our drinks, and they didnt even take the drink off the bill. Place is falling apart and at the end of the show one of the comics came out with a bucket and asked for donations to help fix the place up. Tacky! Instead of apologizing for our experience, they kept trying to cover their asses. Been to Acme and Rick Bronsons Comedy clubs many times and always a wonderful show with professional employees. Should of known better then to go to a place Ive never heard of.
Rude staff who said they would save our seats while we went upstairs to get a drink before the shoe, only to come down to our seats are taken. Absolutely ridiculous. We came to the venue an hour early
We sat down and were told not to interact with comedian. But he interacted with us first. Not a friendly environment. Second comedian came on and totally cut down Wisconsin. To me cold and very unfriendly. I would give it no stars but not an option. Save your money and stay away.
My wife and I had tater-tots here at a comedy show; the total were standard tots and there were plenty. No complaints there. My wife asked for blue cheese, and they obliged, but charged us 75 cents for a rather meager amount (with no prior mention of the charge, either on the menu or by the waiter).
Good quality acts in a very small venue. They bring in local comedians as well, so it’s great to hear their styles.
I went to see MO Alexander and was not disappointed. I had some difficulty finding the main entrance but the bar staff were very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. I also really liked the buffalo wings.
They had some slayers. I liked my time there and the food and drinks were great. Litty night definitely. Watching repeat jokes later the same evening was different and interesting, but I dont care for that.
I used to love going to the comedy show but last night the warm up comedian were horrible. Making fun of christian people praying and abortion isn’t funny at all! The emcee was terrible her voice hurt my ears! Bummed because I love to laugh but I won’t be back...
It was fun. Not much people for a Monday night. Located in the basement of the pub. We got to hear from several comedians for a few minutes each. The last comedian was there for about half an hour.
Good atmosphere and big upstairs! They just allow some rather unwelcome jokes to be made on Open Mic, maybe some rules would be better to keep it from being so abrasive
Not funny. I felt like the comedians werent as real or raw as I wanted and they were kind of being politically correct trying not to offend anyone in the crowd. It wouldve helped if the google maps listing made it easier to find the place. By the time I got in there, I was 10 minutes late so that didnt warm me up for comedy.
Great place to relax and listen to upcoming comedians while you enjoy good food. Price wise is not to bad, $40 lasted me the whole night, unless your looking to take it further.
Great small, inexpensive venue with super-friendly staff and a relaxed vibe. Visit this club for a fun night out seeing the best of the Twin Cities up-and-coming comedic talent.
Basement comedy was ok, vibe for the college crew for sure. Staff was very friendly and buffalo wings did not disappoint.
Attended their Friday night open mic. Really high quality 5-min stand up sets. Overall, seems like a really committed and well run establishment.
Lots of free shows, cool sports bar upstairs, always affordable. I like the 5 minute open mic shows the best
Super fun comedy show every Friday at 10pm that is donation only. Good mix of first timers and some established comics. Definitely would come back.
Popular for beginner comics they can be hit or miss, but if theyre bad enough its still funny because you can laugh at them instead of at their jokes. Its a good night.
Went to the monthly comedy club show. Place was nice, atmosphere was good. Headliner wasnt the best, but the students killed it.
We saw Chloe Radcliffe as the headliner - - great show!!!You should ask for her at your favorite comedy club....
A good location in Minneapolis for comedy. An okay selection of beer. They need to update the food menu from 80s bar food.
Get there early for the comedy shows, the basement stage area fills up fast! On the upside, if you cant find a seat you can always head back upstairs for a drinks and some cheese curds
This place is great on a Friday night. Free amateur night. Get there a little early so you dont have to sit in the front row
A great show and relaxing environment. Went here on a mini get away with my boyfriend and will definitely plan on returning on our next trip up here!
First time was a great experience. Friendly staff, drinks were cheap for downtown Minneapolis.
Drinks were fine, if not a bit pricey, service was really great, but the comedy was sadly awful. Hopefully just picked a bad night, cool place.
Great place. So excited for their return from fire damage! So many open mic opportunities here!
The staff was very friendly and the drinks were good. The comedy cellar was fun. Ill be back!
We were pleasantly surprised at the Tuesday (I think) open mic night. The comics handled a TERRIBLE heckler really well.
Nice place, great people and ambiance. They host open mic(stand up comedy) every week, pretty cool
Its cool
The place is hard to find. I went to open mic night, so its pretty much a hit or miss and that was definitely what it was the night I went. The service was nice, though.
Fun place
Very fun night. Attended the show then stayed for open mic night. Had an amazing time.
Great comedians. Wonderful place for a date night. Loved the aesthetic of a basement inside a bar!
Pretty great spot for open mic nights. Might be slightly packed, so good come early for good seats
Fun place to listen to some up and coming comedians
Usually I feel like basements are dark and scary, this one though is friendly and full of laughter! My perception has been changed, the totchos upstairs probably helped too.
Great inexpensive little hole in the wall comedy club. Sometimes super funny, sometimes just OK but good to support up coming comedians.
I usually go for the Friday night open mic comedy show in the basement. The comedy is hit or miss, but the event is always a good time.
This place is legit. Makes you feel like your truly underground at a secret place. Great drink prices.
Wouldnt recommend unless you like being personally harassed with the jokes, which were not even funny. We were hit with nationalistic hatred jokes, which were not funny. Bad impression.
Me and my husband had such a great time and we will be going back and the food was great and the service was awesome
Had a blast!! The comedians were so so funny and I love how they interact with the audience!!
I saw Pssy Cntrl here and loved it. Ill definitely be returning to see their show again.
This place is operated by a cooperative of comedians. If you want raw underground comedy, this is the place!
Great experience. Fun set. Good atmosphere.
Always a good time.
Best comedy in Minneapolis! I plan to do my own set at some point :)
Get there early!!!!Convenient locationCool vibeNice bar upstairsBusySmallLack of seating
Hilarious comedians for only $12.50. Service was pretty slow because only one waiter though
Great place to get a drink and watch comedy. Open mic Friday nights.
Made our way and have to have your vaccine card in order to get in. Should update on site.
Good show with reasonable price. Will go back.
Cozy comedy club atmosphere, friendly bartenders and waitresses, ~$6 drinks.
Awesome comedy and solid sports bar. Very impressed.
The bar was forgettable but a nice comedy venue in the basement. Sits about 30 people.
Woulda given 6 stars if they coulda made me laugh
Comedians were super funny. Service was great and food was good.
Great spot to see some new comics, works in progress and some straight bombs. Tommy Bayer slays
Great show. That Todd Skoda was ferry funny
Great atmosphere, good drinks; perfect comedy environment.
Went to Fresh Bleats on Thursday, some jokes were funny some jokes were not, but it was all fresh content.
Interesting area... Cool bar and popcorn.. Need better comedians
Cool room. Friendly server! Laughs! What more do you need?
The show was great! Greg Coleman did his thing!
Fun improv, great setting!
Awesome comedy club with free open mic on Friday.
Cozy and comedy club with good acts and fun open mic
They have these spicy wings fantastic.
Small intimate space where comedians can test their materials.
Really fun venue, very intimate
Great experience I highly recommend!!!
It was great but needs to be a lot bigger
Weekend amature comedy shows are hilarious!
For the price you can not go wrong.
Small, Fun, good time.!
