Experience started off great. My wife and i went for a Valentines day couple massage and loved it. I decided to sign up for their monthly $50 program for monthly massages, and was quickly turned off by their services. I scheduled my first massage for a month out, and they canceled it to reschedule. i tried rescheduling for 3 weeks, finally did and they canceled it again due to a sick massage therapist. They never called back to reschedule which they said they would, and continued to charge my account $50+ every month. I called to cancel and they said i had to submit an e-mail to their service center. So i did; no response for two weeks. So i call back, and they said i need to fill out the form online and someone will get back to me. So i did, and no one has gotten back to me. Terrible experience and really am still trying to get a response to them to get money back. never go there or sign up for their monthly program.
We were planning on having a couples massage on our anniversary today. I had called and setup the appointment on the Tuesday prior, received the text confirmation, and assumed everything was set.When we walked in to get our massage, they told us that the appointment was cancelled with no idea why or who cancelled it. The only suggestion they had was to reschedule, which doesnt really work well for an anniversary gift.This was completely unacceptable and we will never be using this chains services again.
A better receptionist would be nice. I reserved a 5pm on Saturday for a 60 minute massage for the wife. It was part of their $49, 10 year anniversary special. It says it clearly on their website. The receptionist tried charging my wife full price until my wife mentioned the $49 offer. She then says its actually $59 and said the special discount doesnt apply during peak hours. Really? No one mentioned this during my reservation request. After the unnecessary debate, the receptionist reluctantly honored the $49 special. Customer service here is lacking.
I went here today, read a lot of bad reviews but I still wanted to try it out myself to have my own personal opinion. I had a wonderful time. The asst manager Amy is amazing. She is very polite and took ownership for the previous bad online reviews when I brought it to her attention. I was sold and not to say Jill the massage therapist was really good. It was my first time and I am happy to say I will be back.
If I could give no stars, I would! I enrolled in their membership for 6 months. I reviewed the policy carefully prior to signing to make sure I could end it easily. I should mention, the membership is not a good deal; you end up spending about the same as you would going in to have a massage. My massages during that time were ok but never relaxing. When I asked one gal for a more firm massage, I felt she made it her point during the massage to make me cry with too much pressure. I asked her to lighten up, as this was NOT enjoyable, and she did slightly. When I wanted to end my membership, I followed the instructions that was given to me in my membership package. I sent 3 emails without reply. I went into the store, spoke to the receptionist, who had me fill out a online form ended my membership. I noticed that they were still taking out the monthly fee. When I called them, I was told that I didnt notify them in time (but was not given a reimbursement for this despite asking for a cancelation). Finally found the Plymouth stores email on a website, emailed them all my emails that I had been sending and requested ending the membership. Had to go into the store again to cancel with the receptionist. They asked me if I wanted to suspend my account until later before they would authorize the cancelation. Horrible experience. I would never go back! Horrible business!! Save your money!!!
Last night I treated myself to a spa package at the Plymouth location. I had a massage with Danielle. She is fantastic and I booked my next 2 appointments with her. I had a dermaplane facial with Ariel. If you havent tried this exfoliation procedure, I encourage you to treat yourself. My face is silky soft and looks incredible. I love the healthy savings plan. It is a great affordable way to make sure I treat myself to better health every month. Great job Plymouth Massage Retreat and Spa!!!
Went there for an hour massage my first time there and I would never go back. When you walk in it is not relaxing or welcoming. No one offers you a water and its very loud. The front desk lady was not welcoming and actually pretty rude. When my massage therapist came out she didn’t ask me why I was in or if I had an problematic areas I wanted to work on. During the massage I couldn’t wait for it to be over. The music was really loud, the bed was extremely hot and the massage was not good or professional. When I was leaving she didn’t suggest anything else to me besides signing up for package or yearly membership. Highly highly recommend saving your money and just go somewhere else.
I have been a member of the Healthy Savings program for 2+ years and love it! I havent experienced any of the cancellation issues because I had all intentions of taking advantage of the program when I signed up and have not had a single regret. I get a facial with Bailey every 4 weeks. With the program, I dont have to pay the regular price for the facial and any additional service is discounted. All products are also discounted. Since starting the regimen, my skin has drastically improved.Spa services are a luxury, so if you dont want to make the investment or are unsure if you can keep up with the program, dont sign up... simple as that.
Def not a walk in place for a one time massage as they only offer a membership to get a “deal” which ended up being very expensive for what amounts to a 50 min massage. Did not ask me if i minded having a male therapist. However, He was very respectful and it was relaxing. I was not prepared for the expense is my main reason for 2 stars
Even the fact that they dont respond to negative reviews on here, only good ones, should tell you something. I booked a package for facial and massage, and, while those were really great, the service was a complete disaster. I was totally humiliated when I was asked to pay full price for both services, when I specifically requested the package. I was then told it is only for during certain times, even though it does not say so on the website, nor did the person I talked to give me that information when I had to make 2 phone calls to get the appointment scheduled. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this scam to make customers pay full price, I just cannot believe the treatment I received here.
I have been here a couple times, and one of my favorites was the couples message. Very professional and friendly. Although, they do try and push their savings packages and other deals on to you, without really telling you theres a commitment to save a certain amount of money (I learned this before I went in as I read a lot of past reviews, so I was prepared). I will keep going here though, as it is close to home and they do a great job - especially with someone who has many medical issues with their neck and spine, like myself.
I bought a couples massage for some friends at this location. The issues started right away. They said everything would be setup and I gave my card information over the phone to pay for the massage during scheduling. They tried charging my friends saying that I never paid; I spoke with them on the phone and gave them my card number again so my friends could leave the establishment. That was April 2nd.Without my permission I was signed up for a monthly membership. I called after the first charge and they apologized and stated it would not happen again and my refund would be credited back within 2 weeks. Instead of a credit I received another charge a month later. At first I called on a weekly basis requesting an update as I did not receive my credits. Then after being told it will be there within 5 business days numerous times I started calling daily. I received second hand information that was being passed along to me. I was then told that I could go into the establishment and pick up a physical check that was never cut nor delivered to the location.I did receive a credit on June 1st for the 2 unauthorized charges. That credit was $10 short of the charges. At this point the frustration and inconvenience had been building up that I was not willing to let the $10 go. I changed my debit card information just to stop the charges from being able to be processed on my card after I received the credit. I was told they would mail me a physical check for the additional $10 and a gift card for all the troubles....today is July 10th and I have not received anything. Im really not that surprised and I have officially given up.To be 100% honest I never would have written a negative review had I received my credits because I normally do not like to take my negative experiences and complain about them since I could have been a unique circumstance. After reading the reviews it looks like I was not a unique circumstance and this happens quite often.I would never recommend this establishment or any other Massage Retreat and Spa due to this long drawn out issue. (Also was told the massage was ehh...okay)
If you get on their monthly program it is pretty affordable and they have deals going on often. It is always clean at the plymouth and maple grove location and they are very friendly, professional and accommodating. I get what i ask for (deep tissue, etc...) and have never felt uncomfortable at either location. Great place!
Extremely Shady! Bought my wife a spa day here for her birthday and they actually signed her up for their membership for $60 per month without her permission or signature on anything, when she called to inquire about it they were extremely rude and said that she signed up and they were going to hang up on her! They called back later when they realized they had no signature or nothing in writing and refunded the money. Signature or not theyre obviously not being clear or up front about what theyre signing people up for based on other reviews, this is really nothing but a scam which Im sure is being pushed by upper management, try being decent human beings with integrity first then maybe the money will follow, all youre doing is slowly driving away customers.
Do NOT join the monthly club. Its $60/month for a YEAR and they will not let you out of it once youre in unless you move out of state. I think its strange to have to lock into such a strict contract at a massage place. I feel like its a scam to just get my money every month and frankly, I felt pressured to join after my first appt.I called later to try and get out of being in the monthly club, but was told to email member services. In my email, I asked for a call back and never got one. In almost any other case I can think of, I can just call a place of business and talk to someone about the issue and they are more than happy to take care of me as a valued customer. In the case of Massage Retreat, I was basically told to F off and too late, you signed the contract. The whole experience has just soured me completely, but now I am stuck going there for a year. UGGGGH.
I HATE THIS PLACE! My husband went in for a massage. He got conned into a stupid contract without being told it was a contract. Now he is fighting to buy out his contract so he can be done with this place. No one is returning his calls and when he does get in touch with someone they tell him there isnt anything that can be done. He has reported them to the better business bureau but they are responding with the same canned he signed a contract response. Even though he didnt know at the time he was signing this. I hope this place ends up shutting down.
The services provided are just like every where else. Nothing special. However if you need to cancel or RESCHEDULE they want to charge you $35 penalty fee. (FYI that’s more than my services add up to.) I really don’t care what bougie “spa” I go to, but cancellations or reschedules are a part of life and business and they need to quit stealing people’s money. My last time going here.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. First, they advertise an hour waxing for the cost of one of their sessions (over $65 plus tax) so I book an hour waxing and an hour facial. They provided a 30 minute facial and a 30 minute waxing and wanted me to pay with TWO sessions- over $130! I questioned the receptionist about how they could charge me for 2 one hour sessions but only provide one hour of service, and she couldnt answer but insisted I pay. I brought this to the attention to their regional manager via 3 unanswered emails. Completely unprofessional and deceptive. I will be reporting this to the BBB and AGs office. Dont waste our money.
If I could give a zero stars I would! I had a facial done not even 2 days ago, and now I have a giant stye in my eye. This establishment clearly does not train their employees on cleanliness. There are much better places to receive spa services-look elsewhere!
I absolutely loved my treatment, I wanted a full body but Carl suggeated I get my problem areas done first, I am so happy I listened. I feel absolutely amazing right now. He relieved my pain, I cannot be happier with my service. I will become a regular for sure!!

We consider ourselves massage conassieurs and have gone down to Northfield and up to Hastings, Saint Paul, Minneapolis and White Bear trying all kinds of places to get consistent pressure, real relief peaceful ambiance and easy to get in to last minute due to our hectic schedule (we prefer couples massages) this is the first place we have ever joined as members and are VERY HAPPY! We go to Sara and Alexa who are both JUST AMAZING, working out every knot and making it so relaxing yet theraputic! and massage retreat has such nice high end heated beds! Five 🌟
I joined their Healthy Savings Program in February 2010 and have been very happy since then. The massage therapists are wonderful and the facials are soothing, relaxing, and very beneficial to the skin. The Dermalogica skincare line is really good and I have incorporated several products into my daily routine. The aesteticians have even given me recommendations for my teenage sons skin. I have been to both the Plymouth and Edina locations and they have quality staff, quality customer servies, and quality services and products. The retret spa package is especially nice if you want two hours of pampering.
I have gone here for facials occasionally. It is pretty good, the staff and estheticians are great. However, every single time I have gone they have tried to sell me some really expensive product or service that they claim I need, which is really annoying.
Purchased a one year membership for my wife and paid in full. After the membership ended, they began withdrawing money from my account on a monthly basis.I gave them notice in writing to cancel the recurring payments in January 2016 and to this day Aug 2016 they are still charging me $60/month.
Services are great, and the management seems to have improved. Had some bad prior experiences, but that was mostly due to receptionists who are most likely no longer there. Always have great massages and facials!

I love this place. I have a membership and I have even brought my husband. I have a great individual I go to and she is amazing. They are always very gracious and they keep the place very clean.
