Weve been here around ten times now. Weve seen rock, country, punk, ska, pop and more. Weve seen artists and weve seen many different tribute bands. Always a good time. The lighting and sound systems are top notch. We usually get dinner. It has slowly dwindled in value after COVID. But you still get a nice steak, chicken or fish. A healthy portion of mash and/or veggies. Though, now it lacks a dessert portion. Tip: ribeye is thin, but marbled, so get it one temp down or they over cook it. Filet is thicker so it comes out at the right temp. Basically, tell them raw if getting ribeye. You might get some pink.Bartenders are great and they work fast. It is rare that I have to wait longer than a minute or two to get a drink.Use the bathrooms at the back bar. They have multiple stalls. Once inside the door, Order a drink while you wait in line for the dinner selections.
An under the radar, intimate, friendly live music venue. Known mostly for quality cover / tribute bands, The Canyon also offers a steady stream of original artists. Pop music icons Dionne Warwick, Eileen Carey, Judy Collins, Poncho Sanchez, Peter Noone, and Yngwe Malmsteen all played in the last 12 months! Family friendly, children under 18 get in free. Fantastic entertainment value, cannot recommend highly enough!
What a great cozy venue for live concerts etc. We saw Oingo Boingo. It was an amazing show. We were so close to the stage. Its a dinner theatre for all seats at a table. There is a small section of seats not at a table so dinner is not required. They do a good job of getting the food to everybody. Do not order the salmon. Its very fishy. The steaks are good. The drink prices are quite reasonable. They free pour cocktails so drinks are super yummE! I will be back to this venue even tho food is not great but value for price was decent.
WORST !!! venue ever to see a show. Understaffed, extremely rude, unorganized. It was my anniversary wanted to surprise the hubby. Pepe Marquez was there with Tierra and Malo. Because of their greed to force everyone that had a seat at a table. They force you to pay before you enter. Imagine how long that took (see photos). Almost 2 hours in line after arriving an hour before the show. We Missed Pepe (who we went to see) half of Tierra. When we finally did get in the stage and show was blocked most of the night by security trying to remove people from the wrong seats they were in. The best part was that I paid $100 for dinner I NEVER RECEIVED. Thanks for a horrible anniversary surprise and ruining the evening Canyon
Nice venue, they have live cover bands. They charged each of us an additional $10.00 to sit at the dinner area tables, why charge us to buy dinner?? They sell food; however, they have a limited menu. The food was just OK, the steaks were not cooked as we ordered them. You should also know that they automatically add 18% gratuity to the bill, we did not know that till after we paid and three of us tipped, so they double tipped us. I thought the server should have mentioned this when taking our orders. I would suggest eating prior to going and just order drinks and enjoy the music.
The venue provides a good view of the bands, depending on how much you spend for tickets. The food is fair, nothing special, and is a little pricey for the quality. The service is decent, but not very attentive because people come and get seated at different times and the waiters get very busy, so make sure to tell them immediately if you need a refill on a drink or any condiments, otherwise you’ll be very disappointed at the wait.
I’ve been going for a while to the Canyon for line dancing. The girl that works as a DJ is great, Cameron is an excellent instructor, the staff at the bar are really nice too, but the rest, it’s “thumbs down”. The floor is FILTHY, one can hardly dance, the turns are almost impossible, spills and goey stuff all over the floor! All patrons attending shared the same concerns! We have asked several times to staff to please clean the floors before line dancing nights, but to no avail (orders have to come from management I guess). A couple of weeks ago a lady fell on the floor because her foot got stuck on a sticky part of the floor. I don’t know why management is not doing anything about it. It’s an accident waiting to happen… I think it would be much cheaper to keep the floors clean than having to face a possible lawsuit because a fall that could cause injury of a patron. Another concern is the back hallway where the restrooms are located. It’s pitch black, we have to turn the “flashlight” on our phones to walk through it. And the bathrooms are NOT always clean.
We saw Haley Reinhart. She was amazing. The venue was good. The meal was good. There was a comfortable crowd. The staff was courteous. I would definitely come back.
Ive watched several bands at The Canyon Montclair and have brought many friends here, recommending it to a lot of people. However, I have to say that the only good thing they offer is the bands. The customer service, food, drinks, and the entire ticketing and seating process are ridiculous. The worst part is that management doesnt seem to care about their clients—just look at the reviews. They charge for cover and seating, which I dont mind, but forcing people to pay for a horrible dinner is unacceptable. Id rather spend that money on drinks. Train your employees so everyone is on the same page. This place has a lot of potential, and it would be sad to see it close down.
I was in line since 3pm for an event they were hosting. They ran out of food & only had empanadas & chicken wings left. I wanted to leave to eat & come back but the bouncer at first denied me, then opened the door & told me if I wanted to leave then I could leave. It was 7pm by then & the food courts had already closed (it was Sunday). Of course they wouldnt allow me back in to be with my group. I felt manipulate and taken advantage of by the bouncer & I was frustrated & angry for three days. It was very hard to let go of this anger knowing I was in the right but being poorly treated. I will never go back to the Canyon. I tried to talk to the guy in charge of the Canyon, but he didnt want to listen to me & pointed me back to the event organizer. Dont worry, I dont want to attend any events from that organizer either now.
This is our favorite venue in SoCal for live music. Keisha who is The Canyons Promotion/Customer Service Manager is so accommodating and responsive. She is absolute BEST! A+A+A+A+ RATING ! We recently saw The Eagles tribute band The Long Run, TLR. The performance was incredible and the food was awesome! Highly recommend !
Honestly it is sad, because this venue has potential. However, last night a server dropped a salad then it splashed on our friends hair. He apologized but horrible experience. Food was good. But 3 people in our table did not get thier food. It is so unorganized. Service sucks. But the venue itself is nice. Wish they can get it together on food service.
Great venue to see concerts. Atmosphere is awesome. I think they should get rid of the dinner with concert deal. I feel it affects the whole experience for everyone. I did it once but it wasnt how I thought it would be. Ive been to 5 concerts here & ate here 3 times. Food is great. Ill be back for meals & Ill be back for concerts but not for both at the same time.
This was the first time I had been to The Canyon. First, let me say, the place is ok and a nice place to see a show. Its small enough you can see the stage from anywhere, so please, do not feel like you have to buy a front row seat. That being said, I wish someone would have told me this before I went. We attended the Eric Benet show, and I was really disappointed with the experience. They packed the chairs in so tight at the tables that we had no room to get in or out or eat. The food was too expensive and not good at all. I paid $39 for boxed mashed potatoes and a half a chicken breast, and it took over half an hour for our food to arrive. DO NOT ORDER DINNER. Now to my biggest complaint, the bar. The drinks were very good, my complaint is the pricing. I am used to paying $12 to $15 for a drink, so Im ok with that, but I am not ok with the prices changing every time I order the same drinks. I ordered 3 rounds of the same 2 drinks, and the price changed each time. $26, $23, then $27. When I asked the bartender about it, he blamed the management changing something in the computer. Whatever the problem, this is not ok. I will definitely think twice before returning.
I willl always support our music 🎶, this place is unorganized and the wait and process made me feel like Im just a $$$ for the venue. I am sharing this while Im siting here. This has got to be the most unpleasant experience dinner and a show. It is 8:30pm, we have yet to be served a dinner. This place is packed like sardines. I do not recommend this place for dinner or to stand. Meals and Drinks expensive for the slow service. I expect a 100% refund for this horrible experience!
Music is great but the worst Hamburger and fries I have ever had. Fries were cold and all stucked together. Hamburger meat was hard and over cooked. Disappointing beyond.
Great performance totally outstanding! However, they have mayor issues with organizing seating. It took over 1 hour to get us to the front door then you have to pay for food and get your drinks yourself. Nowhere do they have signs or staff directing where to go, youre left to figure it out on your own. The food was good but served cold. They also need better service from waiters/ waitresses, we were served our salads and were not given any utensils until 30 minutes later, food then was served cold after 1 hour.
I first started going to the Canyon when it opened several years ago. I’ve always loved the bands, food, and ambiance. Tonight, however, I was very disappointed. They advertise that you must buy dinner. The dinner was fantastic, yet when the band started, 20-30 people who did not have seats or buy dinner were allowed to stand right in front of us for the duration of the show. I’ve been going to concerts for 40+ years and I respect that people want to see the stage, dance, and socialize. But it was really a bummer to have the view blocked and to realize that there was no point in purchasing those particular seats if we weren’t going to actually “see” the band.On another note, they advertise that you have to be 18 to enter the place. There were at least three kids under the age of 14 tonight. When I asked the security guard about the age restriction as I was leaving, he said kids could go as long as they were with parents. That’s fine but if that’s the case, they shouldn’t advertise as 18 and over. I could add more but those were my two main complaints for tonight.
Finally a place nearby, no longer have to drive out to LA. Glad this place opened up. So far the concerts Ive been to have been great. The acoustics are great, any seat is a great seat. You can even continue watching the band when you go to the bar. They have screens showing the stage all around the bar. The have beer in tall cans at a reasonable price. The show ticket prices vary by show but if you get general admission you cant go wrong.
I have been to other Canyon locations and I have always had a good experience. This was no different. The one in Montclair just opened so they are still fine tuning things. The good: they have good artists that come through. I saw The Tubes and they put on a great show. The staff was really nice and helpful. The food is good. The stage is easy to see from most spots in the house. Parking is really convenient and free. It saves me from driving to L.A. to see a good show. The not so good: they only have 2 bathrooms. I was hoping to by earplugs, but they didnt have any. The tables are set up really close together and makes it difficult to get in and out. They are also positioned sideways, which gets uncomfortable on the neck. The sound near the front of the stage isnt that good, the instruments sound good, but couldnt hear the vocals well.
We bought dinner to sit at tables in front.Nice menu. Cost an arm + leg, and tip included.I ordered ribeye medium rare.Could have been the worst ribeye that I ever had in my life. Besides that, it was well-done.Laws of economics, supply and demand. People gotta buy a dinner to sit in the front. If the food is bad, sales will not go down.
First the bad: All it takes is one very rude employee to mess up an otherwise great experience. Employee re-training ??Now, the good: Entered easily and seated right away. Server arrived within 5 mins. Main courses of ribeye and beef lasagna were terrific. Drinks were strong but fairly expensive. Total tab for 2: $260. The headliner was the legendary Danny Seraphine and the CTA. He Is a true showman and the band put on a phenomenal show playing many of Chicago classics. We danced and had a great time, save the rude employee. I spoke to the manager and I truly hope this was corrected. I appreciated the drink comp but to truly keep a good thing going, the company must promptly and sincerely address problem employees. I do plan to return for another show.
The service is a little slow in the beginning but then it picks up once your server stops by. The food is actually pretty good, despite some of the not-so-favorable reviews. We have been here twice and its been good. Two bars and service is pretty quick. You can get in for no charge then wait in line to get a table for $12 per person and then buy dinner. The tables are yours throughout the night. As far as acoustics go, its decent but could use some sound deadening because of the flat surfaces on the ceilings. If you spend $50, you can sit up close (dinner is on top of that) but you are a little too close to the stage for balanced sound; you may have a tough time hearing vocals and you will only hear the amps in front of you. But you get to see all the bass/guitar work up close. Thats kinda cool. Best to get a table further back ($12 per person + dinner) for the full effect.Pretty good crowd. No riffraff. Pretty diverse crowd. All ages above 21 to people with canes. Bring your adult kids and your parents. Ear plugs warranted for wimps.
The Poncho Sanchez show was amazing! The one star goes to The Canyon since they had the crowd packed in there like sardines. Our waiter sat us down, we asked for drinks and he said we had to go to the bar, yet every other waiter was providing table service. Our food was okay. Dry chicken and flavorless lasagna. Chocolate cake was included for dessert, yet when we asked for our cake it never arrived. Our entire section never received dessert, but others did. Unfortunately, when you purchase a ticket at a table you must order dinner. Several people who sat next us were exempt from having to buy meals.
The Music (The Pat Benatar Experience) was Great, but when I spend $39.99 for a dinner, I would expect the food and table service to be Much better. The menu only has 4 items to choose from. The only dessert, which is included, was (Very Dry) Chocolate Cake. You have to walk over to the Bar to get any drink! After waiting for quite some time for our dishes to be cleared, We ended up moving our plates to an empty table. On the positive side, Parking and Access is not a problem. Also, do to a misunderstanding, there is a very nice young lady (Sunny) working there; who was very helpful in getting out Seats reassigned!
Pick up the them phone, people needs information.i want to know about the salsa classes and nobody answers the phone and I wasted my time and went in person from riverside and couldnt find any open entrance to the stupid mall.
- Seating was off for the Jon B show I attended. We bought 2 tickets for seats 5 and 6 (next to each other just off the front stage) and were placed around row 7 and having to sit facing each other across a table.- As shown in my attached video, employees walked right in front of us, approx. 4 TIMES (and stood there for 10-15 seconds) -- blocking our view of the artist during the BEST songs -- while showing others their assigned seats.- $29 salad was dry, plain, and boring.- $34 lasagna was great.- Nice atmosphere.
On 01/20/2024, for the second time in three visits to The Canyon Montclair, my wife and I failed to receive our dessert from the mandated purchase of dinner. Now, in the big scope of things, is not getting what is probably a .98 cent piece of cake a big deal? Absolutely not. Is not getting a portion of the dinner you were forced to buy for sitting at a table, which you were charged for, taxed on, and made to pay an 18% gratuity a big deal? Yes, it is. It really is. The concerts we’ve seen there have been good, but at what point does management stop charging you for services they obviously can’t deliver? The venue couldn’t have been at more than about 60% full. What would they do if the show sold out? As a customer, at some point you have to ask yourself are the issues circumstancial, or by design? If you think Im just a singular disgruntled customer, I suggest you do a little research and read reviews over different platforms. Youll see this is a recurring theme. I mean, this apparently has happened frequently enough that I ask myself, “Is this a scam? Does this warrant a class action lawsuit?”. So from now on, The Canyon Montclair is a no go for my wife and I. The other Canyon venues? Maybe. The Canyon Montclair? Forget it.
Had so much fun ! People were welcoming, drinks were good and the sound of the venue was great !
I love Montclair Plaza, I used to live very close! I think it has good stores and I like going to the movie theater, its not so crowded.
This place has really gone down hill since the pandemic and has never recovered. The service was terrible. They can’t get quality music acts like use to have. My son’s band has opened for multiple acts here and this will be the last time they ever come back. They were treated like garbage by the staff. Not cool when you bring 100 people every time they play.
This place is amazing 👏 first time there and never knew Montclair had a hidden stadium for events 😀 love it ..
The music was the highlight for sure! Tom Keifer rocked it! However The Canyon restaurant and servers were an epic disappointment! The seating arrangements are not desirable, defintely be aware of the VIP seating! We were stuck with the $25 per person food or drink obligation, That left us very hungry at the end of the evening due too over cooked prime rib and very bland tasting food. Our server was there to take our order and then to collect our tab, other than that we didnt see him at all. Having to flag someone down for horseradish, salt and pepper took 15 mins. Then the look on the servers face was as if you were inconveniencing them! Bar drinks, we had to get them from the bar! It wasnt as though our seats were tucked in the center, in front of the stage. We were positioned at the back on the end of the aisle. Which should have been very manageable for servers! I will not spend my money here again! It is a shame when a business is in the customer service business, and they fail to EARN your business!!!!
Food makes Dennys a 5 star restaurantI ordered a Dr.pepper and the guy brought me a diet Pepsi when I complained I was told the guy couldnt read and they didnt even have Dr. pepper
A venue at the mall definitely threw me off going there! Great surprise! We purchased table seats and were required to by dinner.
We arrived at 6:55pm there was a long line to get in. Finally got in at 8:30pm. Went to see Pepe Marquez,Tierra,Malo by the time we got in Pepe Marquez had already sang and Tierra was already performing. Waitress walks us to our table and a couple is sitting in our seats and refuses to move. We were served dinner at 9:20. First-time here and will never go back what a waste of money.
Other than the entertainment, the entire experience sucked. I read the reviews and chose to form my own opinion. The reviews are true 100%. Nobody seemed to know what was going on to get into the club for one. Then we waited 21/2 hours for our 90.00 dinner and that was after 3 separate complaints. Finally when we were given our food 1 plate of lasagna was cold to the touch as if they had just pulled it out of the refrigerator. The chicken plate had sat so long the creamy sauce had cooled so much it formed a skin on it. Again a bunch of 20-30 something’s with no experience, will or enthusiasm about them had no clue. 10 people to a table is ridiculous practically sitting on each others laps if they weren’t breaking any fire codes they were remarkably close. After a fourth complaint we were refunded the money for our dinner so we never got anything to eat and as they refunded the dinner money we ordered 1 drink and not even so much as an apology or a comp on the drink for their foul up next thing out of the girls mouth was 16.25 for the drink. Never again, not there anyways. I even emailed the general manager from my seat. Any response or apology? Not in this lifetime. Patron beware, don’t take my word for it just beware.
A great place to go if your a local ..lots of events and concerts are held in this building .. spacious area ..food to be served and a full bar....always something going on ..come check it out
The host does a great job. The food was good (ribeye steak). The bands were excellent. Great time.
It was ok . Environment was good. Too much chairs for one table. Our food was delicious, but we have to wait for more than ONE hour. My sister had to claim to the waitress and then to the managers. Wine in a plastic simple cup ? No Bueno!!!
Took the family there for a concert was not told before hand that we had to buy dinner with the seat we had, so paid $80.00 for two meals. I was not very happy with that. Then someone was in out seats and refused to move so worker there said we can seat you elsewhere which I refused after the 15 min standoff we got our seats. Got our food halfway through the concert with no silverware they said they ran out of silverware.so we had yo take our food togo.the concert was great, but the overall service was horrible. I well never go back again and will let everyone I know not to go there
Our first visit toThe Canyon. Nice Venue, good size inside the Montclair shopping center. Ours was a dinner which we had Rib Eye steak and veggies, surprisingly good. Ottmar Liebert scheduled to offer his flamenco infused acoustic guitar. Very nice evening for us. We highly recommend The Canyon and definetly Ottmar...
The groups were amazing the food was not the best I had the, Salmon? Didn’t get our salad or our dessert which was very disappointing
Great venue! Amazing job to whoever was doing the light work for Which Ones Pink last night!
2nd time at this venue & this time paid for Handicap seating because we had someone in wheelchair. This table was NOT handicap accessible once concert started all general admission people piled in at our table & surrounding we blocked in we could not get out. Tried to get security to help but they stated too many people they cant do anything, asked for manager (Mia)& she never came to see us. We also never had a server come to our table after requesting one 5 different times as we were supposed to order dinner but our biggest issue was that we paid for HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE table & it was definitely NOT!!! This venue was over capacity for sure!! We left 10 minutes into the concert after we had to ask security ourselves to be helped out as we couldnt get to the wheelchair people blocked it in and put their drinks on it & we couldnt get out on our own with wheelchair there was too many people in the exit route, definitely a fire hazard! We asked for a refund but did not get it. I feel we were discriminated against & will be filing a complaint! Do not go to this venue if you have someone who is handicap!!! They need more security for certain types of events & to ensure people who pay for handicap seating are accommodated appropriately! People who pay for general admission should have to stay in that area & not get same privileges as those who paid for table!
Best time ever! Every single staff member treated us like royalty, from the gal up front to the bartenders, there was a mix up with our seats and they comped our drinks for the inconvenience! Our dinner was excellent and the band was amazing! Thank you, Canyon staff!!
Nice big place, two bars, plenty of seating areas, mostly mature crowd, me and my wife went on Saturday when the dj plays Latin music, I think for a place like this, they could have a much better dj, he doesnt know how to mix music, sometimes he leaves same song till the end, other times he cuts off way too soon, salsa, cumbia, merengue, bachata, reggaeton and some rock en español was played, cover is 10.00 before 10pm, after that it goes to 15.00.They have different concerts and themed nights.Check their website for more info.
My wife and I came out to visit family from New York. Came on a Sunday night for Latin Night. We were told about this place by our nephew. We were impressed by the music selection by the DJ and the crowd the places attracted. The crowd was fun loving, not rowdy, and full of great dancers. It was a diverse multi ethnic crowd, Latino, African American, European America, And Asian American. I wish there was a venue like this back on Long Island, NY. Next time I am out this way I plan to come back.
Came here on a Sunday night for Salsa Bachata night with a live Salsa band Son Mayor. They were fantastic! They packed the house! Great venue with a huge dance floor, plenty of seating, fully air conditioned, dance lessons at 6pm, food served till 10pm, great bartenders and drinks, and really friendly crowd. This has become a regular spot for me and my friends. Go check it out.
1st time there, dinner was surprisingly good, rib eye and wife had the lasagna. Seating is a bit tight both on the floor and booths. Recommend Seating directly front of stage at wall, much more comfortable. Saw Poncho Sanchez. Good audio. 18% gratuity on all transactions. So I over tipped before realizing this. Would go back
Wow, its amazing how just a few little things can bring down a show. An intimate setting with any artist should be great, with food and drink even better. But not at the Montclair! The first thing Al did when he sat to play was to ask for the buzzing noise to be stopped, coming from the mechanical bull. That was stopped. But there was another frequent buzzing from the rotating light that they could not figure out. It was loud enough for Al to ask for them to turn it off, hearing it on stage!! Also, the tables are arranged poorly without risers, so even if your close your view is obstructed. Over all, I will travel twice as far next time to see artist in a different venue.
The Ace Frehley show was amazing! Great sound. The one star goes to The Canyon since they had the crowd packed in there like sardines. Our waiter sat us down, at the seats that we booked. Then suddenly another group showed up with tickets for the same seats. So my friend who had bought our tickets had to spend 30 minutes discussing this issue to be finally be told we were in the right seats. During that time 2 other waiters came over and argued with the rest of us. This was extremely annoying and was not a good experience. The venue is great but they gotta sort out their seating we were not the only ones with this issue and I could easily see this escalating into to more than discussions if the wrong people are involved. On top our food was flavorless lasagna. Chocolate cake was included for dessert, yet when we asked for our cake it never arrived. Our entire section never received dessert, but others did. Unfortunately, when you purchase a ticket at a table you must order dinner. Several people who sat next us were exempt from having to buy meals. They have to do much better all around.
Extremely dishonest business. Please beware of included gratuity! When it was time to pay, the waitress brought the card reader and ran the cards without giving us an itemized list of the things i was signing to. At the end i ended up adding a 20% tip without knowing there was gratuity already added to the bill. The food and drinks were very overpriced: $34 for dry chicken and mashed potatoes. One modelo was 15 dollars(which im not complaining since it was a 24oz can) $30 dollars for mixed drinks. The worst offense was when we discovered that our table didnt reflect the final layout of the venue. During the purchase of the tickets we tried to get a table as close to the stage as we could. When we arrived we discovered that more tables had been added between us and the stage.Theres not a chance I will ever patronize this venue again.
This place is at a shopping mall. They have pretty good food and their sound system is solid. The concert I saw there had pretty reasonable ticket prices. Defo recommend if theres a band playing there that you want to see. Cool venue
I enjoy this venue. Its an intimate place to see a concert . I havent been disappointed yet. Dinners and drinks are pricey like anywhere else. The place is clean and the atmosphere is fantastic. Enjoy
Just now writing my review. Only because I am going back in November. We went to a too $hort concert in February. That was absolutely one of the best nights of my life. Cant wait to return in November. We travel from Ohio to come here.Bartender was amazing. Everything was perfect 🥰
Terrible staff. Too many people allowed into seating area. Wait staff lacking. Took forever to order. Weed smoking was out of control. No proper ventilation. I got a contact high. I sure hope no one had to have a random test. Staff too friendly with guest allowing them to go into restricted areas.
Very good food. Sound system is perfect. We will continue to travel (5 hrs) to this classy venue. Concerts are totally awesome and affordable. Manager did a Great job getting our steaks (after they forgot) at the Lisa Lisa concert. Love this place ❤️
Tommy Castro and The Painkillers. My second time at this venue. It was a clusterf*** at the door. Even the second band apologized for it. We didn’t get to see the first band because staff would not let us in. Even people who had prepaid tickets. Staff was not even wearing anything to identify them as staff members. Absolute chaos at the door , doors opened at 6:00. We arrived at 6:30 and there were two lines. Nobody knew where to stand or check in. Different answers from staff depending on who you asked. Tickets were suppose to be $20 and up. We were charged $25 each and were told we had to STAND for the concert. The next ticket was for a tiny table with a three drink minimum purchase. Each. I don’t drink - worlds most expensive water! Only two bartenders. This whole setup was ridiculous and with zero structure. Fat chance that I’ll ever go to The Canyon again. A grilled cheese sandwich is $12.00. No fries, just a grilled cheese. If you buy the highest paid ticket you are REQUIRED to buy an overpriced meal. Huge ripoff, very disappointed.
Nice venue, great parking affordable tickets...except food & liquor which we found pricey.
Very pricey and the dinner they force you to buy is mediocre at best. If it wasn’t for the musical talent this place is terrible.
The bands, and the sound.mix was excellent. The service was rude and openly hostile. Not sure why they r n business with the public, they obviously hate their customers. I have been to the one in Westlake and it was fabulous. Montclair is mosterous. Do not spend money with these people. They are awful.
Fast Times Band put on an awesome 80s show, with amazing guitar and drum solos. The Journey cover band was a perfect match for the original Journey. I have always been a huge Journey fan, but Fast Times played a lot of music that bought back my love of 80s music and memories. Would definitely see them again. The venue was a great place to have a personal experience with the bands.
Had a great time! I didnt sit at a table so this has nothing to do regarding food or service. The staff was cool sound was great. Be careful where you buy tickets I didnt catch the warning on the website and got hosed
Excellent venue for an intimate concert setting. The sound engineers have it down to a science for Excellent quality of highs, lows, and mids for the ear-piercing sound levels at times. Also, the food here is abundant for the pricing. As a matter of fact you need to starve yourself all day to eat a complete meal there. Thats how much food they serve. The bartenders are on point with the drinks. The staff is friendly and has a cool calm demeanor about them. It is a different experience I will say when you get to the front of the club. The door staff is friendly and pretty funny at times. Almost gut-busting with his quick answers and quips on whatever questions the patrons standing in line may have. Makes the time standing there seem worthwhile for the long wait while people order their food at the counter with the hostess. That too is very different but interestingly enough somewhat effective to not have to talk over the loudness of the show or the music being played to place an order. They do have a 15% gratuity implementation when you order which is cool because there is no real math involved with trying to figure out a tip. Plus 15% is now the standard for those of you not used to going out and splurging on yourself. Seems like it may be a lot but in reality, its a small sum to take care of the staff. They clean up all of your mess so you can continue to have a good time. At that the bands are live and so far Ive seen some pretty good and cool cover bands along with actual original member bands from the recent Era to 60s, 70s, and 80s Era styles of music. At the end of the live show, there is a DJ (Disc Jockey) playing an unsurmountable amount of different generational music. So come one bring all and support live music and comedy at The Canyon Montclair. Thats my take on this place only being here a few times to be able to experience all of the above.
The shows are good. However, it was super unorganized Saturday. Very young staff that stood around with no direction. It took all of us 45 min just to get our tickets from will call and wrist bands. We were in line, then then had up stand in another line, then moved to another line, then finally all huddle in another area. The food is over priced. I used to love going to The Rose in Pasadena who was affiliated with the The Canyon. The Rose never made it back after the pandemic.
It is a friendly relaxing place with great music and delicious food.
The venue meh. The seating is not good at all. The seats are compacted right next to each other , its almost as your eating on top of someone else. The only ones that fit well are small children, everyone else, good luck. If you are fluffy, i would consider the GA seating a little more away from the stage but for the basic room ,its definitely worth it. The meal is decent. It has flavor for sure. The meat lasagna has a spicy kick. This is your only warning :). The club opens at 6 pm. The only place you find this out is on the website at the very bottom in font size 8 . Not even joking its that hidden. Even the tickets dont tell you what time the doors open. Tbh it may be the last time Ill see Berlin here.
The venue was very nice the way they arranged the seating around the dance floor was also very smart. I met the promoter guy and he was also very hospitable and welcoming. The reason I gave this place three stars is because of the service. We waited for 1 hour ( not exaggerating ) and had to get up and ask for a server three times and at the end, the hostess ended up taking our order. The food was a fixed menu and it was more like buffet food not bad but certainly not worth $40.I had to go to the bar to get my own drinks and I had to say the ladies at the bar were very nice and understanding and accommodating.
Customer Service: Good. Greeted at the door, helped me with the the ordering and was helped mid eatingFood Quality: Good. Asked for medium well and delivered. Hot and DeliciousSad when the food was not as expected.Asked for French dip sandwich. Got three bite size sandwiches and the plate to be more fries than sandwichDidnt realize I was a fast food place. The drinks at the countertable, honestly buy the bottle/beer somewhere else. Save some money
I was really excited to try out this new venue. We love the format of getting dinner and a show. Overall venue had nice atmosphere, decor, space and sound. However, we waited 1 hour at our table before a server came over to help us...despite the fact that we asked the hostess three times to please send someone over, not acceptable. Also the food was not restaurant quality, to put it simply it is banquet food, so in my opinion not worth the 30to 60 dollars it costs
This is a really great concert venue. The atmosphere is classy and spacious with plenty of seating, 2 bars and a dance floor. There are long tables for groups to sit together and there are some cool 2 person tables up on a tier facing the stage. We had a great time watching the Blue Henrys and then the Box Masters (Billy Bob Thorntons band).
Nice place for a large gathering. My job reserved the venue for our Staff Recognition party. The space was perfect for more than 100 colleagues. The food served was good including dessert. The waitress did an amazing 👏 job considering she worked the floor all alone. We applause 👏 her. Service was amazing...should I go on??? I give the Canyon Club in Montclair Ca.👍🏼👍🏼
I went on October 12th to see the Spinners. The show was excellent however, I didn’t want to eat I was FORCED to pay $48.86 for 3 drinks, even though I was only going to drink 2 at the most!! The bar was basically beer. I tried a margarita which was poured straight from the bottle, NO ALCOHOL You had to get your own drinks!! From the looks of plates I seen the food probably wasn’t thatgreat either!I WILL NEVER GO BACK
The place was very tight, the drinks and the food was junk. But the singers was excellent, thanks God
Great atmosphere. Excellent music. Superb staff. Really enjoyed SocialQueue and the Pink Floyd tribute band. Awesome vibes all around. Excellent setting for hanging out and for the entire family. You can just go for the concert or have dinner while enjoying the concert. Recommend to everyone. Just pick a night they have your music preference and enjoy!
Very poor organization. The place is completely mismanaged. The food is mediocre at best. It is also overpriced and includes tip for the waitstaff who seemed lost and overwhelmed. Even with reserved seats and prepaid tickets, a long admission line greeted my party upon arrival. As if that wasnt enough disappointment, you had to buy your drinks separately from the bar without any indication that the venue did not offer table-side service. We waited an hour for our food to be served. The only saving grace was the bands performance. Even then, it was a bit too loud and the hard 10 PM curfew was a disappointment that prevented the performers from playing several of their biggest hits. Who runs this place?!
It was a fantastic evening with Bruno Mars tribute band. My birthday with 20 guest. Dinner was really good. My rib eye was delishous and everyone enjoyed it. A little mishap with our table set up that we reserved but al and all a great evening and we will definitely go back.
The bands and entertainment was great. The bathrooms were not kept clean and without toilet paper. When I brought it up with the older lady (staff) she said to go to the other one around the corner. Instead of honoring the Thursday food special was given a dinner special for $39 which no one really bought. You would of sold more off your menu..my opinion.
We saw a Prince Tribute band. The performance was great, but the service was lacking. No waitress came around to take drink orders. Had to go up to the bar. Its also very pricey. Dinner and a show two drinks each $250!
Im a type 1 diabetic and had hypoglycemia waiting in line for the concert last night. We bought 2nd row table seats but had a 2 min drink order and had to order dinner which is a comfort for me. My pump was alerting me and I was starting to get shaky/light headed, I was holding on to the wall because with hypoglycemia you can pass out at any point, if my pump detects I’m not responsive it’ll have EMT called. I asked my husband to go ask if we can be seated Im ADA qualified and need to sit and eat or I could pass out. The manager offered a soda and left then never came back. It took 45 mins to be seated in our paid seats. We ordered the quinoa salad and our food never showed up. I had to drink soda pop to control my levels. Worst experience ever but I yelped them, husband will report to ADA and he’ll consider filling a law suit due to not complying the ADA requirements. It appears they’d rather have a medical emergency then sit us at our two empty seats. Worst experience and venue. Don’t go here if you like toDance to your favorite band, don’t come here as a type 1 diabetic or with any special requirements and don’t let them rob you of your prepaid dining seats, ordered food that was never received or if you want good management/ customer service.
4 stars to allow the venue for continuous improvement. This is an awesome concert venue! The $1M sound system provides crisp sound. There is not a bad seat in the house. No seat is further than 75 feet from the stage making for an excellent intimate setting. I will definitely be coming back as there are some great bands booked. Very pleased with the venue.
The organization of this place was the worst. There was over an hour wait to get a table. I paid extra to get center stage and then when I finally got to the check in there were no tables left in center stage. None of the staff could tell me who was in charge. The food was really good but it took forever to get food. I had to order and pay at the bar on a limited menu and was told Id have to wait in another long line to get a mixed drink. They forgot mine and my dates salad and I couldnt get a fork. Totally frustrating and I missed a good portion of the concert to get basic things having to track down someone who didnt really want to help me. The only reason it got any stars is the food was really tasty and the band was amazing. The venue, however, needs to figure out better organization and management.
This venue is ridiculous they squeeze you in like sardines. The setup for tables are a joke. You have to squeeze between people with no walking room. There are no servers only runners dropping off food. You have to go to the bar and order drinks. The band is fabulous they are the best cover band for Chicago, I give them ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐...Lenoid and Friends! ❤️ 💕
The dance floor is large and nice to dance on. The food and service is lacking. The food is not good, takes forever to get out to the table after being ordered and is overpriced for what you get. The staff is always busy so ordering anything even a drink at the bar takes forever and everything there is too pricey including the cover charges.
Dj’s and event promoters are just great, very attentive and on point with the music and ambiance , however the nonesense that goes on at the bar, not only with the lack of personal for speedy service, but with the abusive pricing is just robbery at it’s finest. Incredible. Never again.
For the most part a great place to see a show. The place is in the second floor and when bodies started moving it felt like the place was going to fall down. Also the food was a really expensive and the tip was mandatory and there really was no table service other than dropping the food off. The food with tip was about $50/person and it didnt include even soda and I had to get up and get water myself.
The show and venue was very enjoyable. The requirement of a dinner purchase of $25+ per person was the first and last time we select that option. There was 4 meals to choose from (lasagna, chicken, ribeye steak, and I think a veggie lasagna). Every option was $40 which included a side salad and chocolate cake. This price only included water that you must fill yourself at the bar. Total cost for the food was $96 for two which included a mandatory tip. The food was delivered fast, the steak and potatoes tasted ok - but probably something similar to what you could get at dennys. The salad was typical, and our cake was never delivered. All drinks were ordered separately at the bar and priced ok at $12-13 each. Don’t expect top shelf options. Bar tender said that bulliet was the best whiskey, but then proceeded to make my super sweet old fashioned with the house whiskey. Overall the drinks made due.I would prefer to have my own dinner elsewhere and then go see a show. Next time I will opt for the bar seats even though those are farther from the stage. Maybe a $20 burger option without the cake would have been better if anything. My fiancé and I are huge Doors fans, so seeing Robby Kreiger with special guest Dennis Quaid was badass and made everything worth it in The End.
Well, to sum up my experience, I will try to make it as brief as possible.. It was terrible. I went to see one of my favorite bands (which the band was completely awesome ) but this venue is shady and terribly ran. I have to admit that every single employee was rude or unprofessional. I bought tickets and though my seats were excellent, I was railroaded into paying for 4 meals and there nothing plant based offered at all and again I was railroaded into purchasing food that I am allergic to. To top it off, the taste of the food was gross. My husband and myself ordered the vegetarian lasagna, it was bland and neither of us could really eat it due to being lactose intolerant, my sister in law ordered chicken capers.. No capers and the 3 slices of chicken was cold and covered in ranch dressing with steamed veggies that were raw. My daughter ordered a steak, and I looked at it, she ordered medium rare, it was over cooked and looked like flank that we were charged $49 for. Not only were my tickets nearly $300, I was forced to pay an additional $150+ for 4 meals that was seriously gross. We only recieved 2 of the deserts and neither of them even looked appealing to eat. We paid for a table and was forced to move to specific chairs and had to share the table with another couple. Luckily, they were super nice and friendly, but they complained about the same issues. The bathroom wasnt cleaned and it made me question the sanitation in this place. Had I known about all of the hidden fees and agendas, I would have never bought these tickets. The band was never the issue, the venue is just terrible. We questioned if it is the entire franchise that runs this bad or if it is just this specific location, but I wont ever come back to this place. Over priced, terrible customer service, awful food and disorganized like crazy. Thank goodness Oingo Boingo was super rad because I would have been more depressed.
Paid a lot of money to have a fun experience at Micro Wrestling and had anything but. Horribly organized, and the show (I know they’re small) could not be seen from our seats! Too many people standing in GA. Might as well have come in GA and ate somewhere else before the show. You can’t even demand a refund, because there are none.
We went to see Flock of Seagulls last night. The service was horrible and the drinks were way over priced. I mean way over priced. Our friend ordered food and she only received her salad. We waited for an hour and half for the food order and still nothing. She had to go to the bar on 3 separate occasions to see what her order status was. Finally after the show was over! She got her money back. This to me was just plain unacceptable. We will probably never go to this place again after our experience. The reason I am giving 2 stars is that the bartender Linda, while being slammed with customers kept her composure, took my order and just simply smiled at me and said thank you! That’s professionalism at its finest. Thank you Linda with all my respect.
Went to war concert 1/21 /23 war was great as usual but to get in with tickets was horrible waiting in line in cool weather for 1 1/2 to get in with tickets they were taking dinner order in line prior to get in and when got in table was taken by someone else waited for food for about 1 hr got food when concert started it was a total mess who ever in charge need to be fired!!! This place could be a good place to see bands like war but the way it manage forget it never going back 👎Horrible!!!totally unorganized.
Great venue for music, but laid out poorly with dinner tables next to the stage when they should be surrounding a dance floor. Dont bother ordering dinner, theres plenty of room to sit or stand and the food is horrible. Not worth it.
Odd venue, ticketing and seating very vague, unisex bathrooms are gross with NO mirrors and the line(s) get mixed up with the equally confusing bar lines and in the way of the box office/hostess desk line area too. Servers try hard and some do an amazing job despite the poorly organized system and terrible product they have to work with, others, not so much. Food was awful, poor quality steak was cold, tough and gristly. I feel bad for the acts which have to deal with the way their fans are treated by these venues. Way overpriced but the only game in town for a lot of acts.
Came on a 80s night girls night out, music was great all the classics and plenty of space to move around the dance floor. Place is huge and good service. However at the beginning of the night it seemed secured bc they had security in the front entrance of the mall asking for ID but when we left a man approached us while waiting for our ride which was coming into the parking lot already, but he began to verbally attack us (he was upset I did not want to dance with him while inside) and we looked around for help there was no security coming to help. Luckily there was a group of girls that witness his actions and came to the rescue. So be careful when leaving this place, it is somewhat of a distance to the parking lot or where you wait for your ride to pick you up. If the girls that helped us that night read this, thank you so much! 💓
READ THE BAD REVIEWS AND TRUST THEM!! We had a horrible experience on Sunday night! Came here to see Vintage music and the Rat pack. They told us over the phone there was a 5 dollar upgrade and 25 dollar food minimum per person, we get there it’s now 10 dollars and the “ manager” was rude! Party of 24 the service was terrible the food was worse! Our waiter was in way over his head and apologized said his manager wasn’t helping just playing on her phone all night! Each of us spent an additional 40-70 dollars plus the cost of tickets. We find out they didn’t pay the opening act! They sold 660 in tickets and by my calculation their crowd spent another 1500 plus that night and they refused to pay them said they didn’t sell enough tickets! DO NOT go there to see local bands! Go to local bars where the bands get paid what they deserve! This place sucks!!
I REALLY want to support this place. Im just losing faith. The talent has been hit and miss as far as giving a performance where it really seemed like they wanted to be there. Brand new venue with horrible, screeching sound. Bad sound board mixing after minimal or absent sound checks. Food and drink was passable but overpriced. Staff and servers were nice but overwhelmed. Bathrooms abhorrent. Wasnt much better previous to covid. Ill be back but Im losing patience and then I wont be back.
Great venue! Spent a lot of time at this mall when I was younger and never expected to see concerts here. FYI to anyone wondering; its in the old upstairs food court area.Impressed with everything except the expensiveness. $14.99 for tall cans.I suppose this is basically concert normal as I think its on the same level as what I have paid at an local amphitheater. Just surprised tbh. Food is pretty spendy too. I thought I could order sandwiches for us but theres apparently a different menu for shows and its all entrees and starts at $29.Good to know for future reference, which is also why I am sharing this review here for those of you who have yet to visit.... that said, I LOVE THIS PLACE. I am looking forward to seeing more shows here in the future.
Went here to see the Eagles Tribute Band play as I was given tickets for my birthday and I wish I can give all 5 stars as the Band was AWESOME !But since the rating is for the venue we will not be eating here again because the food was too pricey & their service was not very good. The food..which we ordered chicken was good but again to pricey for what we got. We had issues like long and I mean long wait time for table service and our order. My wife “spoke” with management and was able to rectify some issues for us so they are very apologetic & helpful. We will be back again just to see other bands play only because it is a nice venue inside but wIll not be ordering food here again.
Such a beautiful venue! What a shame there dinner is absolutely horrible experience!!! We waited 1 and halfhours to get a lousy dinner salad. 2 hours to get our dinner which both plates were cold and tasteless! Chicken dinner and the Lasagna dinner! What a disappointment especially when you are over charged....you cant even get a glass of water! You have to go stand in line at the bar and pay for it! After 3 hours and the show almost over here comes dessert, a thin slice of stale chocolate cake! Dinner is a total rip off! Everyone at our table felt the same way! Never Again!
The venue itself is really nice. They have tables you can reserve and sit and have dinner, but you dont want to eat here. The 4 stars is for the venue but the food is horrible! Very very bland no flavor at all and the menu is only 4 items and expensive for poor food quality. I recommend eating beforehand.
Came here for a Reggae performance 10/9Pros;Nice venue, Easy parking, Lots of restroom stalls, good seating no matter where u areCons; No beer on tap, Food was trash, Ordered my veggies lasagna (it came out cold) Re ordered and they sent out a meat lasagna. My husbands steak was over cooked and both the chocolate cake and cream Brule were trash. Wish we would have ate before going. The servers were all over the place and clearly confused with weak communicationBottom line. Eat before you go or just go to enjoy live bands and dancing.
I don’t recommend this place at all . All the employees are rude . To top it all off, you must buy food and tip on top of your concern ticket
The band was great. Service was terrible! Entrees came before salads. They ran out of the desert that came with the meal but the servers hid in the kitchen so they wouldnt have to face the customers. There were many customers waiting for boxes for leftovers. Some just gave up.Terrible.
I just stopped here for lunch not for live music so I can only critique the meal. The food was so-so. I got a pizza which may have been ok but it was just kind of warm. I was going to get a beer but the cheapest they had was $12 for some junk lite beer. The drinks are cans and priced like a stadium concession stand not the mall. The only reason for 2 stars not one is the server was nice and the food I saw on other tables looked like it might be good. This is a nice looking place but I just dont see any reason to go back.
The venue is great, but the service was Lousy, the place was packed, and they didnt have enough servers. The first order of drinks took about 20 mins. My husband had to go to the bar twice to get our drinks cuz we never received them after. The food was good but we got our salad after we were done with the main course and never received our dessert. I hope the owners/managers correct this, it could be a great place overall.
Went to Buddy Guy March 10th.We had to wait in line for almost an hour and missed the opening act Ally Venable, who we really wanted to see. Ticket said 8:00pm and it started at 7:00. Service was bad. No wait staff for drinks and had to wait in line for drinks 40 minutes. We took our dinner to go because tables were very tight and didnt get all the food that was promised. The manager said they were short on help and are hiring. $200.00 for tickets, $95.00 for dinner and $50.00 for drinks. Not a good experience for the cost. Get it together. Buddy Guy was great ! If not for that the night would have been a total loss.
PLEASE DONT TRUST THIS PLACE.!!I wanted to go here for the first time. Upon walking in no one greets you I had to make someone help me because the hostess was sitting down with her friend.Once I got my drink I ordered food. My food was cold and you could tell the meat had been sitting out for a while. After I got by check and left the waitress altered my check by adding 36.00 extra dollars. When I tried to call the number it took me to a different location because they have no phone inside. When I explained what happend he immediately said well maybe she hit the wrong amount. No I dont believe that. How could any one turn an even check amount to an odd check amount. Then he quickly hung up! This place is not cracked up to be what people say and I will NEVER come back no matter who is there or what is there !!
Band was great. Venue not so much. It started with the required $30 and up 3 course meal. You order and pay for it at the door. 15% tip is qietly and automatically added. Service is food brought to the table (at, or near, your assigned seat). Dont espect to get anything gluten free, unless you want the $70 meal. If you want water or anything else, you need to go to the bar. When I was there, 4 employees were behind the bar, 1 was working, the others were talking and drinking. That explains the line at the bar, when few customers were in attendance. The sound system is ok, not great. If I go back, I will likely get general admission and avoid the food service.
Been there twice, 1st time went in afternoon to buy tics... I stayed for a beer & lunch. I ordered the Monday special, the burger+fries for $4.99, which was big & delicious ! While I was eating the new cook came out & asked if I would test out his new hot sauce he would debut for Taco Tuesday. I poured it onto my burger, loved it & let him know. He appreciated my feedback & left me with the dish full of this fantastic freshly roasted green Chile salsa! 2nd time I got a near stage table seat for Blue Oyster Cult. My dinner was: rib eye steak, herb mashed potatoes, asparagus & cherry cheesecake. My steak was delicious & cooked to perfection, as was everything else. My server Josh was excellent & quick bringing our stuff. My only complaint was that his section stopped table service after dinner & our section had to walk to the bars for drinks during the concert. I had a great time there!!!
We came to see Tribute to the Doors Electro a tribute to Jimmy Hendricks we had a Blast Great place Rib eye was excellent I Truely will be going back a little bit $$$$ since they add another $15.00 service charge for each ticket
Dope venue!!! Small place, tons of seating and standing space. I really loved it here. 2 full bars but tall cans given for beers, $13.50 for 1. We sat at paid seating which requires dinner purchase. Food was okay. Over cooked prime rib and salmon and I was still hungry after eating. Id definitely go back for the spot and music.
Really nice venue. Dj Jordan does a great job. Id like to see more of him in the future.
Greet show tonight for Raul Malo! We had a medical emergency and the venue handled it amazingly. The food was good, the service staff was gracious and kind. Up close and personal view! Looking forward to the next show here!
The band Bonfire was great. Unfortunately the acoustics at the Canyon Club are not good. The place definitely needs an upgrade for sound. The place itself is nice inside. However, the tables are sticky. Try cleaning them before you open, PLEASE! Also, it is poorly managed. The staff is unorganized and a couple were rude and not corteous, to put it nicely. Mr or Ms manager, organize your staff. Get everyone on the same page. Half of them dont seem to be aware of whats going on. Teach them the table layout. You have a bartender that doesnt know how to make simple drinks like a Mai Tai. Maybe when checking in the next staff member should either assign a table and or take the mandatory dinner order. Assign tables to staff members and when serving food please make sure to give utensils. Just a few helpful hints. If you need help feel free to reach out to me or call bar rescue. Again, the band was great and this place has so much potential.
Bought Freddie Jackson tickets and the concert was postponed so they say... But its been a year and some months know and me and my wife still havent received are money back or nothing about the concert smfh.. was going to buy Adina Howard and Michella tickets but nah Im good cant trust it.. because if the concert is not selling like the promoters want it to.. they will cancel it 😡 tried calling you and theres no answer.. # doesnt work..
First time going. Went to see Berlin. The place it’s self was very nice .But , unfortunately the food and drinks were horrible!!!!Wait awhile for a sever, the Bar didn’t have the items for simple drinks, the drinks I did get were very very nasty!!!!The server was very nice.. he even bought me glass a wine, but that was bad,So we paid a high price for our table, and with that you had a $25.00 min..it would’ve been so bad but they only give. 3 choices for the dinner menu. Start at $29.00 -$49.00. Our food was so wimpy.. it was not worth what we had to pay...Next time I go ,General Admission is the way to go..
First time at this Canyon location. Excellent Santana tribute band tonight. Great service and strong drinks. Also enjoyed the diverse Latin music the DJ played. Good male dancers too! Ill be back.
We loved The Canyon! It was our first time here. We got drinks and tacos for Taco Tuesday, everything was delicious. They had line dancing with lessons. Very cool place. Well be back.
This place is such a scam I highly recommend DON’T BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE 2x time I’ve tried to go to a concert here the 1st time they said the artist canceled but the same artist said they were never scheduled to perform there then the 2nd performance was “postponed/reschedule” last minute & if you buy table tickets you have to buy dinner which is almost $40 each person they don’t tell you when buying tickets & it doesn’t say on the tickets & it’s a hassle to get a refund not worth the stress the canyon needs to be SHUT DOWN ASAP!!!!!
The tickets I ordered were supposed to be end seats, but that wasnt the case. They squeezed to many on one tables that made it so uncomfortable to get up or move around. We were required to order dinner and it included dessert. Dinner arrived quick but dessert took forever and then they ran out of certain choices. They also werent stacking the bar because we tried to get another can beer but they didnt have any that were cold, plus they only had two bartenders who werent able to handle the amount of customers attending the concert! The way they crowded the dinner tables, it seemed they didnt care if we got Covid or not! If theres a next time, Ill order general admission tickets since its a small venue. Also, was disappointed that both Malo and Tierra only performed for 40 minutes, plus Tierra wasted about 15 minutes doing a sound check, which none of the other groups did prior to coming onto the stage.
Id love to see Frank Simes play here!
Ok if your going to see Malo and the other group that was there tonight go to another venue, they packed us like sardines the show started at 7 when it said on the tickets 8 so we missed the first show, the food was bad you Custmer service at the Bar was not good at all. The promoter did not acknowledge what was going when trying to talk to him.our first time there and our last .
We went for lunch. Its dark, cold, the tacos were too chewy, and the meat over salted. I told the bartender the bathroom TP was out and it didnt get replaced after 20 plus minutes when a friend went to use the bathroom. The only good part was our waitress was awesome, as well as the garlic fries.
Went to the outdoor concerts. It was just great to hear live music and stay in your bubble safety. They have a yummy menu with delicious pizza. They even bring it to your car. Thanks for letting us hear live music it truly lifts the spirits during the see hard times.
Wish I could put lower than 1 star. We started by having to pay $10 to enter at 4pm. I paid without a fuss thinking the food might be worth it. I ended up spending $80 on two shrimp tacos and a beef dip sandwich including the entry fee. It took them 50 minutes to get the food out to us. Mind you that there were only 2 other couples in the whole restaurant.Lets start with the shrimp tacos. They were soggy, cold, tortillas drenched in oil and had black residue from a filthy grill they cooked on. Had no taste and simply horrible. The beef dip was no better. It had 2 slivers of dry beef on it and the bead was mushy like pudding from sitting out so long under a heat lamp. Also the au jus was not au jus. It was instant gravy.I never review but I was so grossed out I had to let people know
Went to the Herman’s Hermits concert. The show was great. But, the facility was probably a covid super spreader. Almost no one was wearing a mask. No one was asked to show proof of vaccination or negative covid test. The tables were so close together that it was extremely difficult to safely escape in the event of a fire. One of the persons in our party has a prosthetic leg. So dangerous for him in the even of a fire. It took an hour just to enter the facility, and another hour just to get our dinners. And we got there more than an hour early. The food was ridiculously expensive and was not prepared properly.. Had to send the meals back and they still were not prepared properly.
Loved the venue! The setup, was spacious and overall a good looking place. I had 2 issues that can easily be solved: open the back bar and hire more/better bar help. They where overwhelmed which is probably why they looked miserable. Oh yeah, tall cans are $15!!!!!! Yikes!
Great atmosphere. Great staff! Food was great. Tables are a little to close together though but Im sure thats an easy fix. Will be attending more shows here! Had a great time at a great show for the first time!
Being respectful to the bartenders doesnt work at this place if you want drinks. From what I learned waiving your hands at them and just yelling out your order will increase your chances.I guess this younger generation of bartenders only understands when you talk to them like a P.O.S.Ok... I can play like that next time.Other than that nice place. We had a good time.
The show and venue was great, but if you get a table, the food service was horrible... the food was pretty good when you would actually get it.. but the service was too much of a hassle... the bar was pretty swamped too... I didnt get a drink because the lines were way too long. Not sure if they had enough bar tenders working..
The concert was incredible. I would see the Little River Band again and again. That being said, the service at the Canyon was horrible - slow and not concerned about the customer. I spent $39 a plate for dinner.... (1) No salad, as advertised and promised (2) the steak was over 50% fat and gristle (3) the vegetables were under cooked and cold (4) dessert must have been kept with my salad - it never showed, even after repeated requests from the entire table. If I ever go to the Canyon again, it will not include buying food.
This place gets crowded way past capacity to the point that it’s a tragedy waiting to happen. They are understaffed and overwhelmed by the volume of people they allow in which severely effects the customer service. Security guards don’t even wear uniforms so nobody takes them seriously when they try to enforce the rules. I paid extra to watch the show sitting down from a table only to have a bunch of clown face looking cholas block my view because they took advantage of the fact that security was overwhelmed.
Very nice environment and friendly and helpful staff . We had excellent seating in front of dance floor level & stage; however, it was raised and very difficult to get onto the seat, especially if you have knee or back problems. Paded bench seat was uncomfortable. Of u have any medical type problems, stay away from the 701-710 seating. Also tabletop only about 18 inches round. With center pole right up against seat. All-in-all, an excellent venue, being a first-timer, Ill choose my seating better do to our medical situation. Don
This venue is amazing, Been coming to concerts here since then opened and Friday nights here are fun! They have 2 bars and the restrooms have lots of stalls. Staff is amazing and always helpful. Love this place!
My new local watering hole . I’m trying to learn salsa dancing, so I usually just go and eat dinner, which they have great food, service from the girls behind the bar is on point. Stephanie is friendly and great smile. Until I learn to dance , I’ll hang out and eat, drink and watch.
Saw McMagic & Baby Bash last night. First time at this venue, was surprised its inside a mall Lol. We sat at the table, meal is $40; got the chicken plate it came with a salad/veggies/mashed potatoes, it was very delicious! I take off two stars because we never received our desert & the table seats are cramped in line sardines, hardly any room to move.
My daughter and I just got home from seeing Buckcherry. It was super cramped at the dining tables in front of the stage and was difficult to get in and out to use the restroom. We both got the Thai BBQ salmon and creme brulee both of which tasted good but the fish was quite dry, any dryer and it would have been salmon jerkey. The waiters seemed nice but busy. I had no problems getting drinks at the bar. The two people that were seated next to us were really nice.
Five stars to Led Zepagain who I saw at The Canyon 01 APR 2023! ;-)If I could grade The Canyon separately I would give them between one (1) and two (2) stars. No organization at the entry point. IT WAS A CLUSTER YOU KNOW WHAT! :-(((Bought our tickets online and was told to pickup the tickets at will call. THE CANYON DOES NOT HAVE A WILL CALL WINDOW! :-(((Workers at the entrance didnt know what to do with us, 30 minute wait to get to our seats! :-(((I DID NOT GET THE SEATS I PAID FOR! ;-). I paid for nice seats where we would have been able to see the whole band. Instead, we got shoved into the corner where we couldnt see have of the band! :-(((LED ZEPAGAIN DID NOT START ON TIME! :-((( The bands website said they would start at 8 PM. The Canyons website said 9 PM. I called The Canyon before the show and was told the bands contract called for a 9 PM start and that would be honored. NOT TRUE, NONE OF THEM WERE CORRECT, THE BAND STARTED AT 8:30 PM! :-((( We were fortunate to only miss the first few moments of a great performance by Led Zepagain.LOVED LED ZEPAGAIN, FIVE STARS! ;-)The Canyon has the potential to be a great venue, but the staff needs to be organized. NO EXCUSE FOR THIS TYPE OF MISMANAGEMENT!:-(((STAFF NEEDS TO GET ORGANIZED FAST! ;-)
I like the music the food was great the service by Linda was fantastic she kept checking on us if we needed anything and how we were doing. The only problem the chairs seating very cramp. Couldnt eat comfortable. Especially seating at the tables.
We saw Tierra and Malo, great concert. Food was good as well. If you get a table seat you must buy a meal. No big deal, dinner and concert!! The only problem was it took a very long time to order drinks from the bar. At least 30-45 minutes in line. Big problem.
Loved this venue! Music was awesome, and future lineup makes me want to come back multiple weekends. Food and drinks were great. Recommend this place for everyone!
Wow what a difference the lockdown made. We first went the the Montclair Canyon in October 2019 and it was a fantastic experience. Bought tickets with a reserved table and ordered dinner all on line. The show was incredible and the sound was AMAZING.Now, last night we went back post lockdown and the experience was not so great. Still bought tickets on line. But that was all. The on line menu was not available and was now all al a carte. No reserved seating just pretty much 1st come 1st serve. Bottles of alcohol seemed watered down and food was tasteless and not even hot when served. As an Audio Engineer myself, we sat near the audio mix board and the sound was awful. Sorry to say the house engineer was not on top of his game and the mix was terrible. I walked around and it never got better. I hope he was just having an off night but he really seemed to be lost. That’s all for now. I’ll come back for a different artist soon and hopefully it will be a better experience. Please go back to all on line purchases with reserved seats and prefixe meals.
First time at venue and couldn’t expect more. From the moment we checked in to the moment we left. We saw Raul Malo and it was amazing! The bar was reasonably priced and the host was excellent. Will definitely be back and highly recommend! Thanks so much Canyon!
Great concert venue. They have a lot of good acts coming on their roster. Acoustics are great ... not a bad seat in the house. Wont be eating when I go back. Takes a while to get your food and for what you get, it is way over priced (i.e. $28.00 for a 1.5 x 4 piece of Salmon with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli) they should be ashamed of themselves.
Nice new venue! Its inside Montclair Plaza but upstairs so best to park in upper level parking because thats the way you will have to leave after a concert. Dining and drinking is expensive just like the other Canyon venues in the chain. ($20 veggie lasagna, $9 wedge salad, etc.) *Do not sit center stage, up close!* The speaker system is off to the sides, with no speakers, high or low, for those sitting in front so lyrics and harmonies are extremely hard to hear. Theyve only been open a few months, hopefully theyll fix it. The guests to the sides and back had it much better.
We had a fantastic waitress/server named Adrianna. She had a large section to take care of, but she gave us the best service!! You are the bomb Adrianna! The food was very good also. Had a great time. We will return in the future.
Band was great. Restaurant manager awful. Our table for dinner of 4 barely fit 2 and we were told too bad. The manager said he didnt design it and we should check better next time. Nobody was going to do anything to fix it or make it right. It is what it is, next time reserve a table for 6 to fit 4. We had to beg to 2 more chairs. I would give 0 stars if I could!
Bartenders need make better drinks and give back the change when given a 20...look like roid boys...perhaps inbreds ..also be nice if they had more Rock n Roll n Prince cover bands ...schedule looks like a nursing homes activity schedule
Chairs at the table are too close to each other. Have a $75 gift card given to me as a gift, I was told I couldnt use it, since it was purchased during covid!! Paid over $80 for 2 dinners! Who can I talk to about this??
