We went here to have fun and celebrate our anniversary. We reserved a nonsmokers game room with a king bed. We got a room with 2 queen beds that smelled like an ash tray. Went to the casino to have some fun but that was a bust. The machines seamed really tight couldnt play far very long and if you wanted a drink you had to go get your own cause there is never any staff around to bring you one. Over all a bad experience .
Ill start off by saying I dont usually gamble, I dont like losing money in like 10 min...so I wasnt into the gambling part. I do enjoy architecture, so thats what I gravitate towards with my pictures. It was a beautifully designed casino, lots of gambling tables, slots, games of chance. It was 2 stories of lights, noises and entertainment. They used to have an awesome buffet but Covid-19 killed that, there are other places to eat and drink inside the casino. There are also different restaurants 30 seconds from the Casino entrance, a night club and shops and a grand looking hotel attached. It was a nice day out, even for those that dont gamble. Lots to do and see.
So far, this is my favorite casino. I’ve visited four times in the past two years and have won a significant amount of money each time. If youre a big bettor, you can easily win thousands. This speaks volumes because at other casinos I’ve been to, winning anything substantial is rare. In January 2024, I hit a progressive jackpot for over $60,000. My host, Korey Johnson, is the best I’ve encountered at any casino. Besides the winnings, the atmosphere is fantastic, the rooms are very nice, and the pool and spa are amazing. I cant praise this casino and my host enough! If youre in St. Louis, this is definitely the best casino to visit.
Ameristar casino in St Charles is my favorite casino. I often will go here for my birthday or with friends just randomly throughout the month. Mississippi state is a fun game and they also cant have a game called I love suits. I wish those games are open more than just on the weekend. Amerisports bar has some really good food be sure to stop in there when you are there and try their burger and onion rings. You will not be disappointed.

72 years old and my daughter and a small group of us decided to visit a casino. My first time ever in a casino. Id seen them many times in movies, and heard good and bad about them from friends and family. My daughter suggested this one. Boy was I disappointed, cigarette butter crushed out on the machines and on the floors and stairways. Very dimly lit rooms, upstairs and downstairs. No one seemed happy or excited, very somber atmosphere like a funeral parlor. Didnt seem like anyone was winning. We all agreed that wed only spend twenty dollars, unless you were winning. My daughter and I slowly lost our twenty each in about an hour. The rest of our group werent impressed either so we all left. A shame really, such a disappointment.
I went to the. Ameristar yesterday with my son July Third, it wasnt the best experience. We have been there several times over the years and Ive never, ever won.We dump so much money into this place. Its ridiculous. I personally like to play the slots. My son plays the card games. But I was.Blatantly harassed yesterday by an elderly man. I went to play a machine and it had 40 cents on it.Short time afterwards, this man came up to me and said I was on His machine, started yelling and hollering. Trying to cash out my money intimidating me standing over me. I pressed the service button. He continued to act irate yelling for security which yes, I did need some. A couple of attendants came and we waited yet longer for security. I cant tell you how threatened.I felt and he was standing over me all up on me. Security finally did come and tell him if he leaves the machine.Someone else can play it. I do not win any jackpot. I did not.Win anything. I wasnt aware I could go back to a machine.I played previously in claim it as mine. I will never ever ever come back.
Everything about this place is decent, unless they have construction going on. Apparently 6:30 am is an acceptable time to start construction above a room. Nothing posted about construction in the lobby, or on the website. They’re more than happy to take your money, just don’t expect to get to sleep during the construction.
Im not quite sure why they decided to have the non-smoking section on the second floor... I almost wonder if its because more people smoke??You end up getting all the smoke and smell from the first floor. You might as well just stay on the first floor.
I reserved our room from wedding block- at rate of $256.00; already charged to my card. My husband and I stayed one night; Saturday, 3/30/24. After a 4.5 hour drive, we pulled into driveway at 2:30 pm, & no one greeted us for our luggage or giving directions to front desk or parking directions. We unloaded our bags onto luggage cart & I parked our car in free, self-park 4th floor of ramp. We attempted to check in a little early, but were informed that we could not - until 4pm- unless, of course, we wanted to pay “Early Check in Fee” - yes; we had to be at wedding at 4:30- so incurred extra charges on card: $85 “Early Check In Fee”, $11 “Resort Fee” + Room taxes at 16.9%= $110.00 additionally charged to card. Our room was large, 2 Q beds- clean and comfortable. We definitely missed the motorized blinds we had in our room at St. Peter’s Holiday Inn Express! TV room was very nice & in step down/sunken living room & would not be accessible for someone with physical limitations. The bathroom was large, the toilet was in its own room with a door; which I like. The wood vanity was scraped up at bottoms & had seen better days & shower was nice but not clean; large amount of hair/ debris in drain. The price of 2 plain black coffees at Styx restaurant in lobby- $16. The hotel was 20 minutes from wedding venue; & we discovered there were closer hotels that we wished we would have booked but didn’t know better. This hotel was not for our taste & we won’t be staying again.
If you are looking for slots that pay out money then this is not the place for you..The casino play here is so tight and it will cost you a fortune. They have zero giveaways for food or dining for casual players. The managers walk around greeting no body, the soda machines need replacing, the place is always a mess. The average employees seem to be very nice and hard working.Zero creativity from management on rewarding players who show up daily or weekly. In my opinion this place stinks..In addition they never have any giveaways or special promotion night that includes everyone.. they never have any comedians or live music.. they simply are not creating any experiences except for taking your money.. when was the last time you had a comic, magic act, a great music artist or anything extra for your daily customers.
Great place! We had a great time. It wasnt over crowded. Got our drinks quickly, and we even won a couple grand! Will definitely go back and totally recommend
Stayed for a 3 day anniversary trip. All 3 days we were awakened at 6:30 am to hotel construction noise. Hotel was unapologetic, moved rooms to no avail. Told construction would continue to Dec. If you want to sleep past 6:30 am DO NOT stay at this hotel. Most restaurants & bars not open Mon-Wed which also was a detriment to our stay
Nice casino. Didnt leave rich but never really expected to hit it big. Only take in what Im willing to lose. Like that they have truck parking and dont have to go into a tight parking garage. Drive a 3500 Chevy 4x4 and they have special spots for larger vehicles.
Everything was great about the stay, but there idea of a handicapped accessible room was quite lacking. Getting them out of bed daily was very difficult, and they would not have been able to do it without significant aid. The accessible shower, was not, as there was little chance they could have gotten in, but zero chance of them getting out without ending up on the floor.Other than that, the food, general feel and experience and staff were all top notch. I would recommend next remodel they put in some low threshhold walkin showers with higher seats. and some kind of textured surface on the bathroom floor.
I stayed here recently and the room was beautiful, as well as the casino! I was given room 2320 (double queen) and it was very spacious with a great view and a huge bathroom. I also won several dollars at the casino on the property which was a nice bonus. This resort is located just off of I-70 so it’s very convenient.
Jayne at the front desk went absolutely above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of during my stay. She is truly the definition of someone who puts the guest experience first. I am so appreciative of everything she has done!! If there is somewhere I can fill out a survey I would love to do that for her!
Hote was very nice and had all of the amenities you could want. Great restaurants. The spa was great. However there were more fees than I expected and added about 30% to our total for the spa. Wish that would have been more transparent.
The only room available with a new premium room, so the total is about $292. We got there at about 7:00 p.m. and right at 7:00 p.m. I guess the pool closes and hot tubs, which we thought was kind of early considering the money we just spent on our room. We asked about check out time which the lady said it was 11:00 a.m. we asked if they did late checkouts and she said the latest they could do would be a noon checkout. So we went ahead and requested the noon check out and she said she would make note of it in our file. The casino is fun the room was really clean and really nice. The only thing that was weird was the none of the rooms had microwaves but you could rent one from the front desk for $30 extra a night. The next morning I woke up at 11:00 a.m. and as I proceeded to get up and around to get my things and do our noon checkout, a housekeeper not three times announced housekeeping and walked right in my room and walked right back out. 20 minutes later another housekeeper came in. And finally at about 11:50 a.m. I heard another knock and proceeded to yell who is it and nobody answered me. But I was confronted by a manager as soon as I open my door to go proceed down to the lobby and check out. Extremely irritated at this point I asked the manager why I was being bothered when we clearly had a note in our file to not bother and we had a noon checkout?! His only response was I dont know Im just doing my rounds. No apology, no offer to make it better, no anything... it just made me feel like they wanted me out of there. I felt rushed out of the hotel and we just spent $300 for a night to stay there! I also told the lady at the front desk as I was checking out about the incident and she said she would have a manager reach out to us and we never heard anything. Still hasnt. Makes for an unpleasant experience to feel so unwanted somewhere and especially when spending so much money there!
Went to the Casino. It looked clean, and the machines seemed to all be in working order. Staff were incredibly friendly. I had to interact with a few of them and they all were friendly, informative, and seemed to genuinely be happy to be there. Staff also wiped slot machines after people used them. Unfortunately, there are a lot of smokers, so even though we didnt sit near anyone smoking, we still left with the smell of smoke on our clothes. The whole casino reeked of cigarette. That was probably the biggest detriment against them. Had to shower and change when I got home. Also the only casino Ive been to where I was not offered drinks while at the slots even though I sat at the same machine over an hour. Its a very nice looking building with a lot of shops and amenities as well.If you dont mind smelling like an ashtray this is definitely a great place to spend a few hours.
**Edit: We went back for our 2nd stay and the room they gave us was not acceptable. Bathroom was worn and not nice, fridge wouldnt get cold, door knob was stuck and we couldnt shut the door, the side table looked dirty(like they cleaned the glass but not under it, the sofa was gross and the arms of it looks filthy and the carpeting had a bubble in it that I tripped over. We called down to tell them and felt some push back. We mentioned the remodeled rooms and asked if we could be moved. They came up to the room so we could show them our concerns and I felt a bit like we were annoying them. They certainly were not that happy to be up there. Then they handed us new keys to an updated room which was very nice.Original post--- We enjoyed the hotel over Valentines Day 2024. The room was tastefully decorated, clean, and modern. Online check-in was convenient,or at least thats what I thought at the time. Until our phone key wouldnt scan in the elevator. In order to engage the elevator, you need to scan your room key. We ended up needing to go to the foyer to the front desk for help. Once we were up and running, we headed to the room. We had a suite for our 2 night stay. The interiors looked fairly new. It was clean and modern. It looked like they did not do a full update of the suite when done. The bathroom area had more of a face-lift done. The plumbing, tops, wood molding, and doors all looked newer. However, the marble tile dated the bathroom and makes it look looked older. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I could have slept for days. We enjoyed our stay and will be back!!!
African-Americans casino players if youre looking to have a good time out be aware of Ameristar casino St Charles Missouri because they want our money but they do not treat us equally, there is downright blatant racism there and if you ever have a problem there and if youre African American they dont want to hear it they consider it not important and I have complained multiple times at this casino about these concerns and each time they play like its the first time that theyve heard about it and Pit Boss big belly Greg who works table games there yelled in my face and had me put off the boat for voicing my concerns to him, and the other pit Boss that was there Chris said he could do nothing about it, now I have written my concerns in an incident report and gave it to security as instructed and it has been a week ago now and no one from Ameristar casino Saint Louis has reached out to me, 🤔 I wonder why, Ameristar Casino St Louis you need to treat your black American customers equally and with respect because our money is as good as anyone elses, and last time I checked we do have freedom of speech, well being the person that I am and I believe Im just as good as anyone else I gave Ameristar Casino St Charles another chance last night because I figured maybe they were just having a bad day at the table games so I was sitting at the table that I had been playing at for the last couple of hours and waiting for the next shoe to begin one of the pit bosses came over to me at the table and told me I needed to get up from the table because I wasnt playing well I told him I was waiting for the shoe to end and I was going to get more money but that wasnt good enough for him he said you need to get up now or put some money on the table because theres other people waiting to play LOL it was a slow Sunday night and there was no one else waiting to play but he continued to insist that I get up so I did because I know this was so wrong and not their practice and I was going to buy back in on the next play so I called for the house manager and they did come down and speak to me but this particular pit Boss lied and said he never said that to me but the other players at the table said he did, really is this the way you run your business because you dont treat the Caucasian players like that, but you have a problem with me wanting to be treated equally, okay Ameristar you see your players are going to other casinos and a lot of times you have more workers on the floor in the table game area then players, a blind man can see that this is a problem.
Ill start by saying my husband made a mistake when booking our room, and scheduled the wrong date. But this hotels customer service could not have been worse. They refused to refund the money, even when we called within 5 minutes of booking. They also wouldnt let us change our date. So, were just out $202. Ill never go to Ameristar again.Edit: since this review, the hotel has contacted me and claimed the reason I could not get a refund was because of the 3rd party used to make the reservation. However, I was on the call when my 3rd party asked to move the date, and the hotel said no.
The upgraded rooms are ok. They are falling apart quite fast and the drapes let in alot of light from the outsideThe showers are hit or miss and the new flooring is falling apart. Cleanliness is hit or miss depending on the floor you are onThe staff are normally pretty good and I hope they eventually make the pool hours a little later on the weekends
We just recently got married inside Ryse Nightclub at Ameristar. We used the hotel to get ready at and stayed the weekend there. I cannot even begin to say how amazing this team & venue was. Susan inside the spa helped us set up on Friday the most relaxing spa day heading into our wedding weekend. The service was amazing. From Samantha & Emily helping plan every detail of the reception, to the service from the moment we were greeted before walking into the reception. Jim’s service throughout the night was more than we could have ever asked for and Paul went out of his way to make the night extra special. All of the bartenders, wait staff, & hotel staff were so accommodating. We ended the night inside the casino at the glow bar and it was truly just the best night ever. We are so grateful we chose Ameristar.
This place is absolutely beautiful, only ate once at the bbq restaurant. My husband ordered chicken wings. It was easy to order by the app. And my husband couldnt stop sucking his fingers.
I can’t rate the rooms because I was there for a business event. I didn’t stay inside the hotel. The atmosphere when you walked through the door is instantly inviting and the food at several of the restaurants are good quality. We were served brunch at one of our events upstairs and the Food had great presentation, was fresh and the staff was very prompt and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re thinking about any event there.
Roomy & very fancy & friendly staff👍👏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ we had a awesome time staying & my kids had a blast the Arcade is cool & the Copper Whisk for breakfast with our server the Robot so cool & my kids was really impressed by it🥰 the only down was we were not able to swim since no kids allowed on the swimming pool on the weekend that we stayed so my 2 teenagers 15 & 13 I have to take them somewhere else to swim we did not like that😔
Much nicer than I was expecting. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and location was very convenient.
The steak house is very nice; atmosphere and quality of food rate high. They know the difference between good and bad service lies in the details and they fared well
My husband and I were at the casino. The service at the Glo-Bar was initially terrible and the first drink was also made incorrectly. The other bar tender was very nice and efficient. My husband and I both won a little playing slots, so overall, it was a good night!
I can only speak for the casino. Everything looked great. The entry in was filled with restaurants, bars, and a few shops. Went during the week, late in the day but not evening. I didnt have much luck but the staff was nice. The casino looks good, with lots of slot machines, tables, and different denominations. The slots seemed tight, more like a racino than a casino. If I was going to try it again, it would be later at night or on a weekend.
This is the place to go very nice casino. Would highly recommend. Very clean, no smoking, at least not much.. Its a casino, what do you expect? I recommend the new mexican place. Nice that everything is inside. Of the local casinos, its the only one I would highly recommend. If you need a stay cation, the rooms are great. Close to everything. If you have time get a steak.
I am not a gambler of casino goer at all, but as a destination and out of curiosity I wanted to see what it was about.Couldnt believe the size of the place and all the venues on site. The casino floor was packed every seat filled, a site to behold.I grabbed a drink and walked around mainly. Not my thing personally but impressive regardless
Years of going here in the past, Ive never won over probably $5 inside of the casino. The restaurant had amazing food.I went there for brunch at the buffet, but they were closed.
Biggest issue is we booked a non smoking room that reeked of cigarette smoke. I suppose its probably not a solvable issue with smoking allowed in much of the building, but it should not be advertised as a non smoking room. Without that issue I would rate it 5 stars, but a room that cost $250 a night and advertised as non smoking shouldnt smell like smoke. Shame too, because it is a very nice room otherwise. Great if youre a smoker, stay far away if not. Would not recommend or return. After talking to management I would rate this place a one star. They didnt seem to care about the issue at all.
Booked a non smoking room that still smelt like smoke. Staff is nice and check in was easy. The room is decently clean but could use a deeper clean. The casino itself is clean and the overall ambiance is decent.
Theyve went WAY downhill in the past 5 years. The buffet and most restaurants are gone.Dont waste your time tbh.
I enjoy going to Ameristar Casino. Its a lot of fun playing a variety of machines and the people who work there are very accommodating. They make you feel welcome. Not only do they have good service they have great incentives such as double down. Here you receive free slot play and when you come back the next day you get double the amount you had the day before! I would recommend Ameristar to friends.
I love going to the casino but for whatever reason I always tend to lose all my money here. I feel like its a bit harder to win at Ameristar than other places. But besides that its a cool place. The hotel is also really nice.
Me and 3 of my friends went to their spa for the first time . The staff were very nice and helpful . Stephanie gave me the best massage ! I will be back.I also had a suite which was very clean as well !
Its the gambling that sucks. I mean, anyone who gambles knows when youre in a place that has their slot machines so tight they squeel, and only give out wins in 1% increments, so when you lose $99 you actually feel like you won a dollar, well here you wont have that problem because you always lose 100% and it feels like you never win, thats this place. Ething else is cool though...
We came for our anniversary. Come to find out we were hit with extra fees. I did not know there was going to be an extra $100 fee when checking in. We budgeted this trip and that took money we wanted to spend at the dining establishments and casino. We booked a smoking room and it was so dusty we couldnt even lean back on the couch. The rooms need a deep clean (walls wiped down and curtains washed. The curtains were so gross). I expected more for the money we paid. Do better Ameristar. Best thing was the view!
Well normally I have no problems and me and my whole family regularly visit but I guess they Hired a new security manager who walked up and aggressively told me I was not allowed to be in the area of the casino floor because they had money out and when I said no problem and continued to walk away he proceeded to follow with his childish intimidation tactic pointing as I was walking and proceeding to keep telling me to leave the area .When I asked to speak to his boss I was told there is nobody higher than him there ,I spoke to a very helpful gentleman who gave me his supervisors number and treated me with all the respect and dignity a guest deserves. The supervisor has never returned any of my calls or messages at this time. I hope they make the necessary change . No body should be bullied or harassed because of someone bringing their personal issues to work and also at the time they were multiple people who watched me walk up to the ticket dispenser and didnt say anything and there were no barriers or ropes blocking access to the area.I hope they can learn from this because if he drives business away now, he will later as well. 👎
No one seems happy in this place. Working or Playing. Tables have 25 minimum, not very many open. Bar only has one bar tender, cocktail waitress have to large of a space to serve customers at a decent wait. Place use to be fun!!
Only visited the casino. Nice, calm atmosphere. If you cant stand smoke or the smell of smoke, there is a non-smoking section in there.
I dont know what is up with this casino, but like others have mentioned there seems to be some serious disconnect between service members and the staff being unprofessional. Given that this state is home to Fort Leonardwood, this is disappointing.
Save yourself time and let a homeless person mug you in the parking lot, your not going to win any money. But if you have to gamble, go in and enjoy the sensory overload of lights and noise while you piss away your hard earned money.
This is a poorly run property that was once much better. (Weve stayed at this resort in the past.) We wont be staying at Ameristar again. Period.Positives:- great location by a major freeway and lovely, historic St. Charles- large and pretty in a broad, architectural sense: feels like a big casino resort overlooking the Missouri River- the rooms remain architecturally interesting and were shaped and built with generally nice, thoughtful materials and design details- easy parkingNegatives:- the vast pool area is only open seasonally now, and its noted in a subtle manner on the resorts website; this is in spite of it having been 80+ degrees every day, there being an indoor pool portion, and there being hot tubs; in most of the world, outdoor hot tubs remain open year-round or almost year-round: think of ski resorts, for example; why in the world would indoor portions of the complex be closed also? this is just lazy and terrible cost-cutting, not to mention terrible service- the resort is still charging its resort fee daily; clearly a money-grab even though the pool areas arent open- they try to claim the spa is a replacement in some sense; but the spa is a paid service (by a lot), so this is just another money-grab- check-in was terrible: they dont really care on any level if youre arriving early, wont try to have your room ready early, and instead try to sell you on an $85 early-check-in option; then they tell you theyll call or text when your room is ready, but they dont; yet another snippy front-desk person acted like she was doing me a favor by having a room ready at 3:45 when the official check-in time is 4:00; her attitude was that it was great they had a room ready 15 minutes early(?!); meanwhile, my family and I had been there since 10 a.m., wed called ahead about it and also told the front desk at that time, theyd said theyd contact us when a room was ready, etc.; terrible- the front-desk people were generally snippy, self-involved, and clearly were accustomed to lots of complaining guests; as a result, I avoided the front desk at all costs and didnt even look over at them when I passed through the lobby- before my trip, I couldnt even reach the front desk on the phone; I tried twice, got put on call-center holds for 5-10 minutes each, and was eventually told by the social-media team online that this is typical- bottlenecks were created at the front desk and the elevators by the forced, self-involved 4:00 check-in magic moment (or whatever): all of the new guests then had to try to check in at the same time, use the elevators at the same time, etc.; terrible- the resort tried to get you not to interact with them as much as is possible; mind you, I barely go to front desks about anything, yet the resort still/clearly wanted me to just keep my mouth shut and do everything over text message, if possible: presumably, they can just collect your money that way and not have to hear about anything from you; plus they can staff WAY too leanly and tell themselves its okay- the elevators werent all working- the city or whomever issued a tornado warning, and the resort didnt know what to do about it; ~10 guests found their way eventually (after 10-20 minutes) to a proper evacuation area that had been painted by planning/architectural folks as being for evacuations; other guests, however, told me they had no idea where to go, had just gone out into the casino and promenade areas and tried to find corners to squat down in, etc.; terrible- the lobby was a dull and useless place: no water, coffee, etc.; instead, they (of course) have a PAID little sundries area: thats the modus operandi at this resort: cheap out anywhere you can, then try to charge everyone for everything, close the pool area most of the year but keep charging the resort fee, hire rude but cheap front-desk people, etc.- I have more but am out of space [hahahahahaha]
Years ago this casino was my favorite casino. But I was so disappointed when I visited a couple weeks ago. I dont know if the pandemic ruined the casino or if it happened over time (I have been living in Florida for the last 14 years). Many slots have been removed and the ones that are left are so tight. Maybe I am just spoiled by the Tampa Hard Rock Casino. I doubt I will ever visit this casino again unless it changes ownership. I wonder of the other area casinos are disappointing?
Decided to choose the Ameristar for our sons 21st birthday. This way, he could drink on the premises without leaving. We also have younger children that would be with us 1 of the 2 nights. Had a few unfortunate events happen that would have been nice to know ahead of time. The nightclub was closed both Friday and Saturday. The only spot that was a bar with music was closed. The heated indoor pool was closed. Almost all the reasons we chose the Ameristar which isnt a cheap place to stay but would let 2 parents sleep at night knowing your child will be safe and not getting into a car didnt exactly come through. Another funny thing is they dont have microwaves in the rooms. They would like to charge you an additional 30 dollars to rent one for the night. Then after you checkout of course they add a few more dollars on for a resort fee. Resort that more than half of was closed. I love going to the Ameristar for the casino but the hotel side was a huge bust for our weekend vacation. Make sure you call ahead and ask questions before booking. Lesson learned.
**Slot Players Beware***Notice the constant Complaints about how Tight the slots are? It’s 100% true and they will always reply with a SPIN Selling question by saying they have the “Highest Payouts” in area. Although that can be true with only 4 massive jackpot payouts per year they won’t state their average payout %. It’s one thing to claim you have highest payouts in area, but frequency % is what customers want. You could have same “Highest Payout Amount” in area if is was distributed across 10,000 wins versus 4 in a year. You would have more returning business but that’s clearly not the objective. **Slot players Beware!!**
Disgustingly dirty rooms, casino bathroom in the hotel lobbie has piss all over the floor and no paper towels. No cribs available if you have young children. No bags in the trash cans. Dark stains on the carpet. No room service, no remotes for the TV in the room.horrible cigarette smell in the room. Do not waste 69ur money staying here. They obviously do not care about their hotel.
Lots of fun and a quick trip from Hamel, Illinois. Friendly staff and lots of complimentary beverages. The restaurant scene looked great!
After a while we realized cigarette smoke is coming through the vent somehow!!! The pool and the spa are closed. They eliminated all of the services and amenities during COVID and never brought them back. Chicken bones and trash on the elevator floors.
I would like it to be clear that you dont have to stand in line for entry unless there is some question you need answered or if they are questioning your age or sobriety. When you walk into the casino you go directly thru the smoking section and have to find the non-smoking area. It should be the other way around. Also, most of the tables are in the smoking area. Maybe theyve done the research and found that is what most of their customers want but I certainly didnt like leaving with my clothes smelling of cigarettes.
Didnt stay in any room, so it cant rate them. While I was at the casino, I never got approached by a team member on anything. After checking in at the front desk to get a card, I never saw or heard from anyone else. The front desk and guard at the front was extremely nice.
Went to gamble. Lots to choose from. Typical casino environment with smoky smelling atmosphere. Nice staff.
I didnt stay at the hotel. I just gambled there. Had a good time. Won some money. I just wish the smoking was upstairs and the non-smoking was downstairs cuz all the smoke just rises up. Otherwise it was a good experience.
I had planned to come spend a bit of money here this weekend, but after reading all the reviews of people having their vehicles towed, I think Ill pass. A bit petty for me. Reviews matter. Ill spend my money elsewhere.
Credit Control LLC Christmas party was great!!!! The food was awesome and the waiters and waitresses were great! My cousin even won Collector of the Year for his department!!!!!!
My daughters and I use the Ameristar as our little getaway spot and have had great experiences at the property however that was not the case this time. The experience was so bad it seemed like a prank. When we arrived for a 4 oclock checkin we were informed that alot of staff called off so room was not ready and they had no idea when it would be. The lobby was full of customers dealing with same problem. We were told that they could not give us a late check out as well. We received a call that we could get in the room at 715. We were in 2202. The room is in desperate need of rehab. The couch was kind of crusty. We refused to sit on it. Carpets are old and worn out and some channels on television wouldnt come in. The beds were very comfortable but there were stains on the ceiling above one of the beds. There was a bloodstain on the sheets. Call the front desk you say sure if the phone worked. We left the room and went to casino for a while and when we came back our door was open. It never fully closed when we left however we didnt notice. Called the desk on our cell phone to address issues. Someone brought me sheets for bed and said she couldnt change them I had to. I didnt want to touch it either not my blood. They sent maintenance to look at the door and the screws had come out of hinges causing it not to close. We were told that we could not use the indoor pool because it was out of season. When we checked out we were given 50 dollar credit at one of the eateries on the property because we paid through a third party they xould not take anything off our bill. I dont know if they under new management or what changes need to be made. You pay 300 dollars for a room you expect to be safe and at ease and this is not the case anymore. Tragic!
We came for an overnight to have a little fun for our anniversary. Room was nice and large but needed updating. Bed was comfy, view of the river was nice. Service was just ok. We requested a river view room and were told we got one, but when we went to our room it was not a river view room. So we had to go down and argue with the front desk staff to get another room. We had fun playing slots. Won some, lost some but overall had a good time.
This was always a favorite of mine!! Then 2 yrs ago the ever popular year around indoor/outdoor started closing for maintenance. ( 6 months) The pool is what set this resort apart from every other.
Didnt stay in the hotel but had a good time at the casino. I love the fountain at the front entrance and the food is ok too. Will be returning for a hotel visit soon.
Stayed here one night the hotel front desk staff is awesome housekeepers are very friendly but my room had a few cleaning issues. There looked as if blood splatter was on the ceiling, when I pulled back the comforter it had the same type of stains and lots of length balls. Dry poop on the upper base of the toilet. I moved the chair closer to the tv area the dust and hot chips looked as if they’re been there for quit sometime. Overall the room weren’t bad. It reminds me of someone not taking a shower for months then puts on a fancy suit & Cologne You won’t know they’re dirty until they start to sweat. So I sanitized everything. We stayed there overnight to enjoy the day after our New Year’s party, eat good food and gamble. I drove so my son/traveling buddy forgot to get his license out of his vehicle glove compartment which was parked hours away. We showed the blond older female security and the manager a copy of his drivers license that was in his email which he sent to his previous job, his social security card, credit cards with his name and they still wouldn’t let him in. He’s 38yrs old with a touch of grey mustache, 5”10 tall, muscular, and they still said wouldnt let him in. They were so hard hearted. Meanwhile, the manager says “we do let some ppl in without a license to put in the scanner, if we can tell their over 30 but you must be over 21 to go in the casino. He looks very young. I always say black Asian and Hispanic don’t crack.” I think he meant it as a compliment so we laughed. I’m 58 and showed my license & I agreed that he looks young but clearly over 21. It makes no sense to say you must look over 30 but be over 21 to gamble. I did speak with a guy in security that said the security lady, “she’s a-stickler. she will never let him in. I’m quitting soon to start a new job.” Then we learned that he talked about us to her. When we walked by, we saw him relieve her, as she gave us the evil eye. He started acting cold, towards us so we realized he’s a stickler too. Lol, at this point we’ve wasted an hr or more of our time, and the casino hotel restaurants were closed. We ordered door dash watched moves and made the best of our overnight stay. What a way to start the new yr. Happy New Year !😊
Hotel is ungoing renovation, so construction crews were hammering very early. Not enough wait staff in casino, if you wanted a drink you had to get it yourself. Restaurants are fair good, if they are open.
The casino it’s very clean, especially the washrooms. I hate the wall of cigarette smoke that hits you when you walk in! Wish the whole place was non smoking not just upstairs. Would like to see more blackjack tables. Dealers and bar staff are friendly, do a great job. It is almost impossible to get a waitress at a table but the bar staff are fast. Took all my kids for 21st birthdays, everyone there celebrated with us, staff included, it was a great time, fun atmosphere! Have only stayed over once for a wedding, which was in the ballroom and sensational. We had a hard time booking the hotel room with the wedding block of discounted rooms, but once we got there the room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated with all the usual amenities. Didn’t like that you couldn’t open the fridge to chill your own soda etc without paying.
Had a great time and didnt need the room or service.
Close to the St Louis airport hotels. Slot machines didnt budge. Table games minimum was $15. Spacious and didnt feel crowded.
It is a wonderful place to go to get away and forget about the stress of life. I recommend Ameristar casino resort and spa for everyone.
Easy access from highway..Bugattis and Asia restaurant are go to favs on weekends . Pool on roof is nice as well as the nightclub
Casino review only. Pros: Clean, nice staff, lots of games to choose from.Cons: These machines are TIGHT. Its no fun to lose all of your money in 15 min. Cant even finish a drink before your money is gone. I understand that the odds are not in the players favor....BUT, you should get a little return and a little play time on your money. You can pour money into a slot or poker machine, and when you do hit the special feature....you will get 55 cents! People are so disgusted they dont even clear the machine after getting a feature. Its almost like they want to warn you to stay away!!! Absolutely ridiculous. I take some older family members there every week and its getting to the point we will switch casinos. Its a shame because we love it there, just not fun anymore.
We visited on New Years! Me and my sister had a good time. The choices in restaurants and casino games were great. They have active security insight which made us feel safe during our visit.
Great place to relax with friends or alone.Good vibes!
We stayed at Ameristar on 11/16 in order to attend a business equipment trade show in the afternoon and a company anniversary party in the facility that evening. We arrived at 2:30 and although our room was ready, we could not check in until 4 unless we paid a $60 fee for early arrival. This is an outrageous amount. My fiancee needed to be at the trade show so he paid the fee, we got the room keys, he changed clothes as we had been driving for 5 hours, and attended the show.Every hotel we have ever stayed at will release an assigned room if it is ready even if its an early arrival. We talked to a manager the next day and he explained that this is corporate policy and a credit could not be issued. We will not return to Ameristar due to this type of unwelcome treatment and policy. We will return to hotels that are welcoming and upfront about large extra charges. This extra charge is not listed in their brochures or online.
I go to the spa to get my pedicure once a month. I love the accommodation and atmosphere. I love Sherry she do a wonderful job on my feet. Also she is a true professional, caring and good at her job. She believe in educating you on treatment of and how and what to do in between visits.
Spouses work rented out the Bottleneck Blues Bar for a work event. Great food, great service and walking distance to the casino. Hotel rooms were very luxurious and clean.
I dont think Ive ever had so much judgement or accusations or disrespect anywhere else the way I receive here each and every time Im here. And Im here a lot. One day I was shoved into a slot machine ad a newly pregnant young woman still recovering a twin miscarriage not even a year before that and being cautious and worried to go through another, and they proceeded in pushing down my s/o and putting him in a seizure bashing his skull into the ground claiming he was beginning to resist instead of having seizure for a dumb warrant and ban he shouldnt have in first plan that I had been getting lifted and thought it was, on top of cuffing him and whisking him away before I could get to say goodbye or anything and every day its one thing after another with them. Constantly carded when they know my age, have been called liar and just a list of things I could go on and on for. Its still fun regardless but it took a lot of time for me to face coming in here and not start crying or get a trigger response
I dont typically write reviews, but I feel people should understand what they are getting into when they stay here. First off, do not show up before 4pm unless you want to pay $89 to access a room. I understand early check in is not guaranteed anywhere, but I have never stayed anywhere that would not check you in at 3:15pm when they have an abundance of rooms available. Prior to arrival I had checked in online and notified the property of my arrival time. Never was I informed of this check-in policy and could have easily adapted my plans for a later arrival. Beyond this, house keep and room condition is extremely lacking at the property. There were multiple stains on the living area furniture. There were only two pillows for a king sized bed, I requested extra pillows be delivered multiple times during my two night stay, but they never showed up. There were also no fitted sheets on the king bed. The bathroom was lacking in maintenance and upkeep. Water pressure in the shower was non existent, and the water temp was barely warm. Found this odd as the tub and sink both had extremely hot water. Overall the experience could be compared to a Red Roof Inn at the price of a Marriott Grand. On the positive side of the property, the sports bar and steakhouse both had good food, and exceptional service. The pool area was nice, although the hot tubs were lacking some general maintenance. The casino floor was also very nice, plenty of slot machine options and lots of table game space.
Great Security System In The Hotel Accommodations You Can Go Up YobThe Rms Unless You Have A Card Key, The Restaurants Was OK, I Ran Into Some Slots Not Working Property Other Than That The Ameristar Was Cool.
I booked a room one night to treat my boyfriend to a cute little stay-cation. The staff was very lovely. Check in was easy. The rooms were cleanly. I had a beautiful river view. The general set up is very nice. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I slept like a baby. It was very quiet, I couldn’t hear any neighbors,I gotta say though I was disappointed. We tried to take a bath and the water wouldn’t even get warm. We tried to stick it out but it was too cold. So that was disappointing. I was really looking forward to having access to a bathtub that we can both fit in.It was dusty I noticed but there were signs posted where they apologized. I’m fine with that, stuff happens and it sounded like they were addressing it.We went to make coffee the next morning and there was only one package but…two of us.The bathroom TV’s don’t work but that’s not that big of a deal since the bath didn’t work out anyway. The carpet was not in the best of shape and neither was the furniture, the blinds were hard to move. Personally don’t care much about those things but it’s worth noting. The elevators had me livid. I got stuck a couple different times where I thought I was gonna have to call for help. In hind sight I probably should have notified someone but we were only there for one night and we had an agenda.I actually really love the casino and I’ve stayed in the hotel before with friends and had a great time. I just don’t see myself going back for a cute romantic night away from the house.
Only visited casino but that was a waste of time and a whole lot of wasted money on the slot machines. The machines were so tight and not even enjoyable!
I didnt win this time, but I had a lot of fun playing my favorite slots.
I went to Ameristar hotel in Saint Charles Mo to rent a room for my mother. The employee at the check in counter was on phone with a friend. I waited 15 minutes standing right in front of them the entire time. Finally I turned around and left!! I give you NO STARS
Love this place just wish they had better promotions
Only went here for the arcade. The prices for the games were decent but there wasnt any service if needed and a few games were out of service and the prizes were bad and selective.
Awful and disappointing. I had not played with them ever since 2004, but they did not let me have fun in the least. Just sad, I did not even have fun because they had the machines I played rigged to take money very quickly .I was on vacation, so that wasnt a pleasant experience to lose a lot of money in less than two hours.
Absolutely the worst casino hotel ever. From the nasty, outdated rooms and facilities to the extortion pulled at check in to extract even more money from customers before they even make it to the cheesiest casino floor in MO. Hotel was basically dead, staff admitted rooms were ready but because of some greedy, money mongering, idiot’s “golden idea” the few people trying to check in were told to pay up or shut up. The chances of this place getting my money in the future were just flushed down the toilet. A little decent hospitality would have netted them way more cash than the $85 dollar room ransom they are demanding. Idiot level management decision to say the least.
It is a casino. Looks pretty nice. I have only won there one time. I dont like where it is located.
Entering the large facility with all the lights outside, made you feel like you were in a little Vegas. Easy to park in the parking deck you’re not in the weather easy to get right into the building. Lots of really neat little shops along the way as you work your way into the restaurant areas and then into the casino. There’s lots of detail in the casino, amazing two stories full of machines that look all brand new and lots of nice comfortable chairs places to get drinks and everything was very very very clean. Definitely a very cool place.
Bottleneck blues bar is absolutely absurd with their first come first serve policy. They tell you first come first serve but allow folk to hold tables for folk not there. Doesnt follow the first come first serve rule when 2 people can save 12 seats for people not there. Especially bad during events.
This is the worst casino on the planet, odds of winning are very very low i don’t recommend it to any one be away from that place it’s really the worst in saint louis. They also so cheap about giving offers .
Stayed at a neighboring hotelsuper big place with plenty of optionswould love to come back
Greatest casino in St. Louis, only issue is hardly any promotions for free play nor rooms.
Amazing all the way around!! The staff is super nice!! The bathrooms in the rooms are fabulous!! Took a bubble bath, and OMG I was so relaxed, I didnt want to get out. Water pressure in the stand up shower was perfect! Beds are super comfortable, even the pillows were comfortable as ever! There was even a safe in the room, only downside was no microwave, but it was a perfect room!! The view of the river was nice 🙂. Dont get me started on how dark the room gets with the curtains closed, perfect for dark room sleepers 😴 😴!!
HORRIBLE. We were woken up at 6 am on a Saturday to obnoxious hammering and banging. Management never called us back. Front desk only offered $50 off a meal. The construction continued the entire day. This was supposed to be our weekend away to catch up on sleep. They wouldnt move us or comp us. If they are doing renovations, they should have informed us before we ever checked in so we could make the decision if we wanted to stay or not.
Its a classic casino. Some old machines but the atmosphere is good. The staff is polite and funny. They make you feel welcomed.
Fun to play. Wish the machines werent so tight. Also wish they still had the buffet
Just a walk through the casino to get to and from the poker room, but was impressed with what I saw. Floor looked clean and well kept. Staff I spoke to getting directions to the room were all very friendly and helpful. There were a lot of machines, but only saw a very few number of tables. Poker room is on the smaller side. Two tables going when I got there. Went down to one shortly after. Floor said it is busier on the weekend. Decent action. Some were there playing bingo and shoving with anything, but a fun and friendly table.
They still have my favorite reel slots! A rare find these days ✨️ 😌
I went to the front of the casino to receive money off my husbands debit card. When I handed my drivers license, Boyd card and my husbands debit card to the manager. She refused to return the card. Because the card was in my husbands. My husband had to go to Ameristar casino security to pick the card up. This is unacceptable. There is no sign indicating that they would hi-jack a card that doesn’t have your name on it. I will never return to Ameristar Casino again. Shame on them. No stars!!!!!!!!!
It was pretty clean and good service but I just couldnt hit a darn thing.
Beautiful to look at, full of smoke, even the non-SMOKING area... spent a lot of money 4 of and didnt hit anything the whole night.
Ridiculous issues. Parked in a lot specially designated for large vehicles. Drive a large truck. And because it was apparently a couple of inches shorter than they liked…. They towed the vehicle. $400 bill plus taxi fees and several hours lost time. The lot wasn’t full. Many opens spaces. Made an honest mistake believing those spaces were for trucks like mine. Yet. They towed it. No one asked me to move it. No one put a note on it. It was there only a few hours. Unhelpful staff. Will never stay here again. And will ensure anyone that asks knows how terrible this place is to its customers.
Truckers casino does have truck parking if you want to get to it easiest way is to get off I 70 on 5th St.,then turn right on Ameristar Boulevard continue to the first light. (Ignore the no trucks on gps) then turn right on S. Main St., and you will see a sign to your left saying oversize parking take that immediate left and go all the way around the corner down under the bridge and there is parking. If you’re wanting to play walk toward the Ameristar under the bridge, there should be an elevator down that will take you to the main floor. Safe travels.
We had booked a room in may for my Wife’s birthday. Three days before our date we received an email stating our room was no longer available due to a “water pipe broken”. We were able to secure a room somewhere else thankfully on short notice. In September my wife booked a Spa Suite room for two nights for our anniversary. Upon arrival our room was clean and ready with no visible issues. We realized the one Tv in our bedroom area was not working but not the end of the world. We noticed our jet hot tub in our room was not draining and took forever only after we had to fight the drain. The last day we were not able to use it as the drain was stuck and not connected to the release. We called down to get this fixed asap so we could enjoy the tub one last time. The maintenance guy was great, polite etc. I asked if he could just drain it so we could use it before checkout. Unfortunately he said no and it took roughly an hour and half to fix it. My wife called down to ask about pushing our checkout time back 2 hours due to the tub issue. Unfortunately we were informed by Mason that was not happening and we were offered a $25 dollar meal voucher. Mind you this room is $500+ a night. We were not looking for a handout but a 2 hour credit was not too much to ask. Unfortunately Masons attitude and negative tone was not appreciated. I would suggest he takes some courses in customer service and problem resolution. I will say the director reached out after we ended discussions with Mason and he responded with a positive, and a professional attitude and solution. I do not recall his name but thank you.We have been staying at this location for over twenty years for gambling , birthdays, New Years, work etc. we will give it another try as things change.
What a terrible experience. I will urge everyone to NOT stay at this hotel. The hotel does allow parking up front for large vehicles. We checked our specs and it showed that our height IS beyond the height requirement per the hotel policy. We had been in the parking lot for three days and had no issues. Saturday rolls around, we leave to attend the wedding we are here for, our truck is nowhere to be found. The hotel towed the truck. No one attempted to reach out to have us move our truck prior to towing. It was there for 3 day and no issues. Here is where it gets worse. The hotel does NOT take responsibility for their security and would not help us with retrieving our vehicle. Security Supervisors came to talk to us about how we retrieve our truck and we asked why no on notified us prior to towing. The absolute worst human beings you will encounter are the security staff over parking. They basically laughed in our faces and told us it was our problem and not theirs. The towing company closes on Saturday and Sunday and refused to let us get our truck back. The only reason we got our truck back that night is because the BRIDE for the wedding we attended had to get involved and get her contacts involved to inform directors about what was happening. $450 in cash later, we got our truck back. So, if you want to encourage the scam that is taking place at Ameristar, then go ahead and stay here. After some research, this has happened to many individuals who have stayed here and overall extremely bad business.
If I could leave a negative stars I would. My niece was getting married and I wanted to get her a room at Ameristar for her wedding night as a gift. I tried to call the reservation desk but couldnt get through so decided to book online. I entered my credit card information and completed the reservation. My credit card was charged. I entered my nieces name as the person who would be staying in the room. Never at any point in this process was it mentioned that the card needed to match my nieces ID at check in. Or that the exact same card had to be provided at check in. No flag in the process at all. My niece arrives with her new husband on their wedding day today. I had sent her the reservation confirmation. She had all the information. She was told that I needed to be present with her and present my credit card. I am a state away! She called me....I offered to call Ameristar, I offered to send them a picture of my credit card. Nothing would suffice. My niece was on the phone with me and talking with the front desk personnel. The only thing that will help is for me to drive a state away and give them my credit card which i even offered to do but my poor niece was so embarrassed by this point. Im mortified because this lovely gift that Im trying to provide my niece and her new husband (no, they are not teenagers, they are in their 40s so, that wasnt the issue) is now going to be canceled! And of course, it will take 5 to 7 days to refund my credit card! Im livid....Theres a few points that need to be made1. They had already charged my credit card and the room was paid for. They could have retained my nieces credit card to keep on file for incidentals.2. Their system, and yes I booked directly on Ameristars website, could have a pop up that notifies the person booking that this specific credit card used for booking has to be presented at check in. Problem solved!I can buy pretty much any gift online and send it to the recipient of my choice. As long as its paid for, why would this even be a concern?Im a manager for a company and have booked rooms for many employees. Sometimes they have required additional steps but I am notified, made aware or able to get it resolved quickly without having to go to each property.Instead, weve had a terrible experience that publicly embarrassed my niece on her wedding day. Thank you, Ameristar!I will be contacting the BBB to share my concerns with them as well. This is ridiculous!
Hotel reservation was not helpful. we wanted to go swimming and we had my 8month grandson and we were denied for entry
Stayed here for a work conference. Rooms where clean, check in was easy. Massive bath tub was a plus. Ate at some of the restaurants. On the pricey end but was pretty good. Room was more than enough space for one person. Staff were all friendly.
Would have been better rating but since Boyd owns it not the best direction. Lot less games inside the older ones are there but difficult to find have to go upstairs. The rewards system sucks the comps no where near as good as they were and free rooms are a once in a blue moon maybe. Still the rooms are amazing the staff is great just no valet or buffet anymore. All in all worth going.
Had lots of fun went on my birthday and one around $800 within the first 20 minutes of being there. When I tried to cash in my ticket one of their machines gave me some troubles but they were quick and really friendly and helpful to resolve the issue. I would definitely recommend this to anyone had a great time
I am not one to typically leave a review, Ameristar in St. Charles has always been our go to place for special occasions for my husband and I, this weekend was no different as we were celebrating a birthday/anniversary weekend.Upon arrival we were disappointed in the atmosphere from being here last year and even more disappointed in our room!We were assigned a “smoking” room, as non smokers the room was horribly odorous of stale smoke but we looked past this, the air conditioning in the room we were told was “broke” and was being looked into and would get fixed soon as possible. The carpet in the room is dirty, bunched up and rolled up in places and the furniture has stains and honestly was afraid to sit on it.This trip has been an extreme disappointment from the moment we arrived at the location. The hotel was a $850/charge for 2 nights and again such a disappointment! We spent the day Saturday touring the city to come back to the room which hadn’t been touched by housekeeping, dirty towels remained and room untouched after requesting housekeeping- what does my $850 get me? Not even fresh towels! There was not a blow dryer in room, had to be requested and waited an hour for service.During our weekend trip here we researched and toured another casino/resort and we will absolutely move our business there for all future stays- I apologize Ameristar we will not be returning and you should think twice about staying at this location unless you expect low-mid quality service and experiences!Michael & Lisa Harker
A Saturday night of fun took a turn when I went to play Blackjack in the fun entertainment area. There was nothing fun or exciting, no one appeared to even want to be at work. I played on one of the tables for a bit and it wasnt going well, so I moved to one of the other tables that had an open spot. I noticed the area where I would keep my drink and hands was wet and nasty, so I asked the dealer if someone could clean it up. She turned to her supervisor and told her. The supervisor then wet a towel with spray from a bottle and threw it down on the table in front of me. After I played my hand, I again asked if the table could be wiped down. The dealer told her supervisor once again and she and the request was ignored. The supervisor stood there with an attitude and did not make a move to do her job. I grabbed my chips (since my drink was already in hand-I didnt want to sit it in someone elses filth) and walked away.It was a very rude and off-putting experience and a blatant disregard of hospitality. Its the equivalent of going to a restaurant and being seated at a dirty table... and upon telling your server the table is dirty, they just give you a towel to clean it off yourself.Definitely not a good look.
We had a wonderful time at Ameristar St. Charles. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a great view of the river. The pool was fabulous (note: no children allowed in the pool Friday through Sunday, as alcohol is served poolside, so be aware.) The location could not have been more convenient for exploring historic St. Charles and it was also convenient to the airport and for exploring St. Louis by car. And the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Cassie the pool attendant and Jennifer and Kiki at the desk for going above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Highly recommend!
We never have a bad time when staying here. Win or lose, it is always fun. Do yourself a favor and get the Philly flatbread from the sports bar. Asia is also good. Little spensive for what you get tho. The hotel is great. Aint got a lot of dining open M-W anymore. But we survived!
Poker room dealer I had at 1-2 no limit does not know the rules of the table ...dealt a dead seat in the middle of the blinds allowing dead seat to buy the hand? Really... Flow for new table started with rules not followed ... Hands not correct for the whole table beginning until the end of that table .....
Fun place to visit everyones in awhile but the location Is far too close to all the riff wrath in the city
Nice if you dont mind loosing $$$$$ all you have to do is look at the place when drive up!!! They win so dont go there if you cant afford to lose money. But if you can its great
We used to love coming here but some things seem to have changed for the worse for families. My kid was excited to swim this weekend only to find out the pool is only 21+ now on weekends. Then tried to let him enjoy the bath with the TV on to make up for it only to hear “we’re phasing that out”.We frequently stayed here over the years while in St. Louis, but we’ll likely stay somewhere else next time.If you don’t have or like kids I suppose it would be great. Just not for us anymore.
Stopped by here to gamble a bit and specifically to have a nice cocktail at the fancy bar in the casino. Staff ignored us. Straw wrappers and other detritus on the bar. Saw that other patrons drinks were in plastic cups. No need to visit this smokey place again.
Nice property but I live in a casino area, we were struck that the machines were not as loose as we would expect.Cocktail server? Didnt see one.Cashier cage? Didnt use- no personal touch here at all.Next time, Ill just mail them a $50 and call it a day..
Customer service not good. They acted like we were going to steal the cart, they would not allow us to use it. the room smelled like pure bleach as if covering something up. (Too strong, gave me headache) shower and bathroom need some remodeling, and toilet area is too small, need to change that entire area. Bring the toilet out of that Itty bitty space. There is nowhere to move around, and Im a small person. Furniture look old and worn out, especially the couch. You all have some work to do, especially with these ridiculous prices.
Beware: If you have special needs do not expect accommodation. They will charge 60 $ for early check-in (in my case 2 pm instead of their 4 pm)although access to dialysis was needed. I was on hold on the phone for more than 1 hour trying to find out if early check-in was possible for medical reasons, Nobody answered, Then the front desk LIED aboout me to their boss. Incredible
Nice atmosphere and layout. Huge selection of games and lots of fun playing. They have very clean games and restrooms all day and night. The soda and coffee is free for you while you play. The staff has always been super friendly and helpful. I have stayed in hotel a few years ago. And it seems not a lot has changed in the standard rooms. But they are still clean and nice. The location is really great as well. Not not there is anything they can change about it now. It’s a city inside of itself lol. They are pretty stuck with the layout. Which is great. The only thing I would change is the glass on the front doors. It always looks like it’s raining outside when I walk out. And rain makes me blue and sleepy. And then I realize it’s only the glass. Games pay out pretty well it seems but like every place they have a dry spell when it’s just time for the house to win and make money. We can’t win every-time. Although it would be nice. But it is always fun and comfortable there.
I just needed to get a break and it was peaceful
Expect to spend an extra 30 min. At chip exchange. Never fails
Great casino, friendly staff, amazing brownies, and a great arcade for our autistic 8 year old son..
The rooms are very spacious, clean and very comfortable. The view on the river side is amazingly beautiful. The pool is inside and out, its clean, cool and spacious. Towels provided. They also, have a hot pool, and in the winter, its heated. The food at any of the restaurants are fantastic. The casino is so beautiful and exciting! I will be booking my next stay there!
Expressing my deep disappointment with my recent stay at Ameristar. Despite being an Emerald member, the decision to commence construction at 4 am and persist throughout the day was astonishing. Spending significant money on accommodations and gambling should come with a reasonable expectation of enjoying the rooms, which was unfortunately not the case.During my stay last week, I was upgraded to a suite but couldnt relish it due to incessant drilling and hammering waking me up at 5 am. After voicing my concern, CJ Chris, the hotel manager, offered to move me to another room as a courtesy. However, the alternative turned out to be a musty handicapped room on the 24th floor, where the construction noise was even more disruptive. Frustrated, I checked out a day early. This experience has left me feeling dissatisfied, and CJs response, suggesting I stay on weekends to avoid disturbances, was far from reassuring. For a purported 4-star diamond resort, such inconveniences and the lack of a suitable resolution are unacceptable. Its disheartening that my stay was marred by these issues, and I hope Ameristar addresses these concerns promptly to uphold the standard expected by its guests. As it stands, Im reluctant to return unless these issues are effectively resolved.
The police patrol this area and inside the parking garage too much for me I was pulled over three times in one day and I am completely legal ones in the parking garage coming in once in the parking garage leaving out and once just outside of the parking garage
Beautiful room, great slots, lots of wonderful restaurants and all the staff are awesome
They feel the need to tell women whats appropriate to wear on the CASINO... theres usually a MAN standing next to the counter where you present your ID, and once you try to walk through the casino, he will stop you to ask you if you have anything you can cover up with. Examples Ive seen Brides with strapless form-fitting dresses that had to put on their husbands tuxedo jackets. This lady had a see-through shirt on with the appropriate undergarments, and they asked her as well. Ive also heard them tell someone the outfit might be appropriate for the club thats on Ameristar, not the casino! All of this is happening late at night. Long story short, if you are going to Ameristar, where church clothes. If youre out for a night of fun and have party clothes on, dont go!
Love this place. The views are amazing! Fun things to do with in.
I have an oversized vehicle and they now dedicated the front entrance for vans/trucks like mine. They even tow cars that are parked in those spots. Us oversized vehicle guys like to see that they are looking out for us.Love to see the tow truck pulling up to tow the lazy people who can’t park on the garage.
Won big at the casino. Room was clean spacious. Customer service outstanding.
Good things - 1. I got great sleep in a big room!2. Great location as my family is in O’Fallon.3. The staff is doing their bestBad-1. no room service2. Sketchy people at night . I had one try to get me to use my hotel card to go up to my floor. Yeah I’m good3.. again never seeing a jackpot! The gambling is notoriously bad but I really don’t know who would go to St Charles to gamble 😂
Althought we stayed for only one night, it was fun! We really did have fun!
Nice place, looks like union station with a casino in it.
Great room,felt like a spa.Neat clean &roomy.5+☆s
The hotel was filthy. Our shower had mold in the corners. The couch had something disgusting on the side of it. The halls had small pieces of trash everywhere like it hadn’t been vacuumed. Some of the outlets didn’t work. We were really looking forward to our stay but we were very disappointed especially for how much we paid for the room. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Not as cool as the one in Kansas City but it has a really mesmerizing fountain when you first walk in. I recommend sitting on it and just enjoying the fountain for a bit. Some math and hard work went into it. Arcade had ice cold AC. We were there during a heat wave so it was really nice
My boyfriend brought me here for a weekday date night. Our first stop was the buffet. For as long of a line as it was, it went fairly quick and the food was delicious. We then went the pool. I love how the indoor and outdoor pools are connected and you can swim through the building. The hot tubs were nice and extremely relaxing. But the most memorable part was our room. We got a spa suite on the 25th floor. This room was absolutely breath taking. If I could live here, I would. The pictures do not even do this room justice.I cannot wait for our next date night!!2024 UPDATE: Unfortunately my review has to change. The room quality has gone down HORRIBLY. The bathtubs clog, the tvs don’t work, and one of beds even had blood in during one stay. The pool hours and age restrictions are ridiculous and pointless. This casino DOES NOT PAY. My fiancé was VIP for years and now has not one in YEARS. It used to at least be fun getting to play because you could play bonus rounds even if they weren’t big jackpots, that is the fun part of the slots. Now they don’t even do that. I will never spend another dime here. We will be taking our business to a better casino.
If you expect housekeeping to straighten your room, make the beds, and bring fresh towels daily then you will be disappointed. You have to call the desk for fresh towels. The indoor pool and hot tub are closed even though in years past, the hotel hosted a NYE pool party. Very disappointed with the amenities.
Really run down and dirty. No housekeeping while we were out today. Has a musty odor. The falcon diner has been closed and a hot breakfast with table service has been replaced with a limited breakfast menu and counter service with paper plates. Sports bar food service was slow and food mediocre. Management is cutting corners and has ruined a good weekend getaway. Check-in staff was rude and tried to charge an $85 early chech-in fee an hour before 4pm. Fire alarm went off in my room and it took staff 15 minutes to respond. Glad it was not a real fire. Should be given a refund.
LOVED the rooms, and the location. How can you beat when you are in the middle of EVERYTHING!!
Great place to stay! Has everything you need inside without having to leave. Beautiful room and wonderful restaurants! Will definitely be coming back!
Machines are super tight. Im an Emerald and they dont give any real Freeplay. Most of the rooms are outdated. The service is good. Poker dealers and floor staff are great.
Its a large ash tray. It used to be a great place to play. Just to nasty.
Beautiful place. It was very slow yet the smoke smell was overwhelming too and bottom.
I just want to say thank you to all of Boyd gaming staff. . 💯💯😊
Things at the hotel and casino shut down early even for weekends. The bars and restaurants are all closed later in the evening. Its clear this venue is more just to get people in to gamble in the casino. The casino has an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke.
They had 3 machines of one of my favorite games and now they’re all gone. They’ve added a lot of new games that either don’t pay out right or just never hit. I’m a sapphire member and I never received any good comps yet all my other sapphire buddies get a ridiculous amount of free nights even though I spend more money than any of them.It is by far aesthetically the nicest casino around. It is the biggest around. Most of the security guys who check your ID are real awesome and friendly.
I didnt spend the nite, or really very much time here, so cant rate what I didnt see. Its a casino. Lots of places to eat and choices of machines or table games. I will say I didnt smell a bunch of cigarettes, tho I think smoking is OK in limited places.
Hard ro get a drink and too many of the buffalo games they need something different
Fantastic venue! Lots of slots and table games.
The pool was closed and that was not disclosed upon booking nor was it on the website. A big part of the reason I booked was for the water area so I was very disappointed!
First time staying here and it was a beautiful hotel and beautiful rooms. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5....the beds and pillows are THE most uncomfortable. I hardly slept the 4 days we were there. Next time I will bring my own pillow for sure! The other reason and this is happening in a lot of places but for all the restaurants there they werent open on the days we were there. The good news is we had a couple event nights so we didnt have to worry about it, otherwise we only had the bar and grill to choose from until our last night when the steakhouse opened and that was delicious!
All rooms are suites and spacious. Our first room smelled like smoke even though it was non smoking. We asked to switch rooms due to traveling with an infant and they made use feel like a nuisance. The bell hop was the most friendly and helpful employee. The restaurants were good but overpriced. The casino was big. I woke up both nights with bedbug bites and when I notified the staff they didn’t seem to care and simply said “sorry about that.”
Just stopped in for a night, and seeing as it was a casino, I figured it would be luxurious. That said, the hotel experience was lacking, especially for the price. With a healthy price tag of roughly $280.00 for the evening, I was a tad more than underwhelmed when I made it to the room. The rooms are dated, and in need of repair/repainting on much of the furniture. I typically pop into Live! by Loews and find a room for around $250.00 and am usually blown away by the hotel, itself. The shower was a tad cramped, and the room itself didn’t offer much. The absence of a mini bar and lobby shop were noted. There were restaurants and the gaming floor, which stay open until around 3:00 a.m., which is nice. However, I had no intention of visiting the gaming floors. My primary complaint was the ridiculous price tag for a room, compared to what I can get at other luxury hotels. Had I known, I’d have made my way to Loews, where i could feel a comparable price would be justifiable for the amenities offered.
My family and I attended a Rehearsal wedding dinner and also the actual wedding on the upper terrace outside dwelling..Absolutely Beautiful area ! The area thats visual, over looks the Missouri River. This area is surrounded by beautiful plants, nice concrete walk ways and also padded turf and the service we received was excellent..Thank you for a great atmosphere too celebrate !
When we first started starting here it was great. Now not so much. The gym equipment doesnt work and children arent allowed in the pool on the weekends but they dont tell you that when you book your reservation. My room wasnt cleaned the entire stay they only cleaned on request or after checkout had to track down housekeeping for TP and towels. Not a fan. Will be booking elsewhere for my next visit.
Great rooms phenomenal view of the river on one side and a view of downtown St Charles. The house keeping crew are a great group of people and are very professional and quick with whatever you need
It was early Friday morning. Light crowd. Could play any slot I wanted.I left with more money than I started with. A good thing. And realized, its sometimes better to try some slots you dont normally play. And my tip of the day. When a machine rejects you money slip. And you try another machine. Same thing. You get a new slip from cash out. Slot man opens, repairs, does something. You go back again to reject machine. Rejected. And you already won. Maybe something is telling you that its time to cash out and go. Have fun.
This is a good casino. They have a great new member offer, they will reimburse you up to $300 of losses, during your first visit to the casino. There were a few drawbacks during my visit. There are numerous seats missing at the slot machines, so a lot of machines didn’t have a place to sit, also a lot of the slot machines were broken, as well as a lot of the player card kiosks were broken. Overall, it’s a decent place to gamble.
I have stayed here a few times and it has always been great!
It is an okay casino. If you dont like smoking this is not the place for you. It is fierce even in the non smoking area.Poker room was nice. The machines are a bit outdated.Overall, I will not be replacing Vegas with St.Louis.But they did do a cool entrance.
Worst experience with their staff if I wasnt being hosted here for the Shamrock FC fights I would never pay them for their service Ive stayed and worked at hotels, casinos, resorts all over the world and the staff was so hand tied by policies or general know how that it caused me a bunch of stress and head aches and $600 extra because no one knows how their businesses work spa staff included. Unless they comp your stay dont stay here the rooms are nice but our dated same for the amenities. Better places for cheaper close by, choose them Everytime. The only cool person I met was the gym and spa guard give him a raise he did more from me in a wheelchair than any other staff would. God bless him.
My first ever visit and I was very impressed. I thought I was in one of the huge Las Vegas Casinos.I did not stay at the Resort. I visited Dallas, TX for business & vacation. My niece drove me an hour away to get to this Casino. We has a great time.
Ive stayed many times in the hotel portion of the casino and all the rooms are setup as suites so you get a little living room the bathrooms have showers and tubs and are always clean. The casino is by far the best one in the st.louis area in my opinion, its the only one I frequent. If you go on the weekends it can be a bit difficult to find a spot at a table game as well as slot machines unless you go upstairs to the older machines.
Advertisements were vague and very persuasively misleading to say the very least. As for location and cleanliness I give it 2 thumbs up. Probably the reason I played over $400 without a decent win. Lost every single try. Never been to casino and lost like that. Promotions say lose $300 berefunded $300!!! Although it didnt say you might get an email in about a week to tell you you had $300 in free play that were gonna be divided into 4 payments of $75. So they want you to only come once a week anytime during the week bc some people get paid on Monday some get paid on Thursday, etc. Customer service was very overworked, snobby as f, they were very over populated.. took at least 15 mins to get a card made. I wont go back..
We have stayed here several times, but there are differences that might make us choose elsewhere in the future....The hotel has construction /remodel signs at least on our 16th floor, we heard construction noises the first morning. Our room was pretty good except for the mold stained shower tiles so I wore flip flops.. but not something you really want to see.(slight smell - gross) The volume on the TV opposite our King bed would barely go high enough to hear. There are ice machines on each floor, but you have to walk all the way to the end of each floor making it a chore to go fetch ice. Overall, its ok, but I really dislike the elevator from the hotel garage then having to disembark & walk around to another set of elevators to get to the room floors. Just a hassle. Guess it is a safety feature, but annoying...If you are tired & just want a pizza after 9pm...you cannot do ANY Carry Out orders from the Sports Bar after 5pm! They dont do! I cannot imagine how much revenue they lose. ALL minor stuff... but inconvenient for Guests. And last, but not least on our previous Aug 31, 2023 visit, our SUV was towed even w/ handicapped plates. My fault... as I was picking him up & he couldnt answer his phone at a gaming table, so I left my car in the designated high height area to just run in and it got towed! Two cabs later & $400 to get my Suburban out in Florrisant the next morning. (See other guests reviews!)Overall, might give this one one more try, but for now I feel indifferent about staying here again. Its lost its appeal for me....it used to be much more accomodating....
Attended a wedding. It was beautiful place. Service was great !
Never have anything bad to say about the ameristar after coming there for 10 years.
This is my favorite casino as well as the best casino hotel rooms in the St. Louis area.
Slots are too tight. Spent quite a bit of money without winning enough to even stay very long. It was a long drive to have to leave so quickly. Its been a waste of my time and money the past few times I went. Its not fun anymore.
Was out and had to easte some time. Went in with 100.00 left with 175.00 was a good day .
Its a good 45 minutes coming from SCOTT AFB, on this day it was a smooth sail. I was excited upon arrive as the theme music from Long Kiss Goodnight played in my head, but this was not that! The parking was too easy to corner up for my exotic means of mobile express. Walk toward the entrance New Year Eves wind and cold air occupied the major of the space. In a hurry to get in, I took a minute to consume the environment. Well...let skip that part and get to the main event. If you do not like second hand smoke..save yourself the trip as there is no escaping it here, it will be the first, second and last thing to surround you. I am not a gambler by no means, I just like to hang out and watch the action happen. On this day, people must have been in the giving mood, but spirits were still in good standing. I did not eat at any of the restaurant...so nah there. Hotel! where?...I must have missed it. Restroom inside the Casino clean, but there was one outside the entrance area that need much attention. Staff was very helpful and polite. Make sure you get cash from your ATM bank, as the ATM fees are review all by themselves. Good to place to go and chill with a friend or party. I will attempt to explore more on my next visit. 7/11
They are always so accommodating when needing a place to stay
We have had rooms here many times it is a nice close to home getaway. The casino itself as a whole is fine you win some you lose some thats game. The smoking I could do without because the whole place smells anyway from downstairs raising to the second floor
Im going to preface this by saying that maybe Im spoiled by the spotless Vegas casinos with their great airflow system, but, even though it wasnt that crowded, this place REEKED of smoke. We walked in and realized that we couldnt take it. We saw the no smoking area which was upstairs. The upstairs is just an open balcony above the main floor and the smoke from the main floor just floats upstairs - - you cant tell the difference. We realized that we couldnt take it, and walked right out the door. So much for visiting that local casino . . . might have to stick with Vegas. It was very disappointing. In this age of smoking consciousness, Im shocked that local casinos havent banned it, or limited the smoking areas to a smaller enclosed area.
The building is not very well kept up. Looks dirty. Hand sanitizer empty. Smells terrible. No smoking is on the second floor. So all the smoke rises from the 1st floor. Plus you have to walk through the smoke to get to the second floor. What moron came up with that idea?????
