Hole in the wall is a place that’s weathered time and space. You might even like in the interior decoration to almost a tiki bar, but with the eclectic gay erotic motorcycle bar style persona it has this place has been solid for multiple decades if anything go into see a little nostalgia, and enjoy the good vibes.
Unique atmosphere, really cool and chill gay biker bar where everyone is welcome. Great spot to have a drink, hang out, and chat without having to scream over ridiculously loud music.
Nice atmosphere with its music. the bar is run by the owner and he’s pretty nice and talkative. i didn’t try the food since i arrived late
Fun bar but whoever they have playing music has little to no taste in music.
It was really unnerving for the older bartender with the goatee to throw out two young people for trying to get away from an attacker twice their age.
The island of misfit toys meets vintage grunge with a motocycle club built in. Not the place to break in your new white tennis sneakers. No judgements otherwise. Stays within the parameters of decency, but just barely and not during festival-time. Great artistic application to the myriad lights and mobiles above in the high ceiling. Rarely dull.
The best bar in SF. Great music, great people and the best bartenders in the SOMA. Probably the closest thing you will find where men can hang out exclusively with men - well about 90% of the time but these days thats saying a lot. Its awesome!
Amazing bar with the super charmingly professional bartender-Warren! Fantastic atmosphere and super handsome guys
The best old school gay dive bar around! Bartenders are awesome, music is great, and love the atmosphere.
Great little friendly bar. Worth a stop by.
Been here pre and now post plandemic. Nothing changed, this place is back. Was here tonight for Wrestle Mania, pizza and booze. $5 well rum and cokes for 3 hours. There are no pickup bars in SF anymore, but met some old friends and enjoyed my time. Its a dark dive bar, but the decor is original art. The dragon on the ceiling been for the for 20 years, not sure how far it goes back. I bet the decor is older than I am. The bar tender is nice and the clientele are older men, look rough but nice once you get conversing with them.
Really cool and easy going spot. Id make it my regular spot if I was living in SF. Beer price is very reasonable.
I was visiting from out of town and stopped in to have a beer. I felt out of place from the moment i walked in.The bartender working Tuesday night was kinda rude unless youre a regular at the bar. Im not a bear, doesnt mean I should be treated differently.
The best, bar none!! Unless there is a fundraiser or party somewhere, it is the only bar I go to. Some of my best old friends are there. They stream their music on their website as well - its mostly great! I feel welcome and at home there. I do not understand James Cottles post, there are no pricey drinks, no cover charge, and most of the people are over 40.
Once upon a time in Santa Clara County on a warm hot eveni went to the city cool off and stumbled over the hole in the wall and it was lots of of naked men running around in the back and chewing all kinds of wild things and it was a very interesting bar so come on by and take a chance on the wild side of life The whole the wall the wildest bar Ive seen in San Francisco in years Local man makes a good
Im a little pacific islander boy with a smooth chest and little body odor, but this SOMA bear staple is my favorite bar in the city. Stiff pours, a chill vibe, and the gaudiest decorations youve ever seen. Its somehow over-the-top and understated at the same time. No matter the night of the week, I know Ill have a good time here.
The best bar in San Francisco, maybe the world. Even the gay capitol of the world [perhaps or maybe Amsterdam], Berlin, has some bars that are similar, but not quite up to this snuff. Best music, friendliest crowd and bartenders that are all different and yet share a wonderful human quality.
This is such a great bar. Cash only but fair pricing. Bartenders are friendly and so is the vibe. As someone that doesnt normally even go to bars, Id definitely be a regular if I was here any longer.
My vehicle was being repaired next door. I just wanted a cup of coffee. This place was right next door! Place is a bar, but they accommodated me with a fresh batch of coffee. It was good too! Staff & patrons were cordial as well!
Hung out at the hole in the wall last night had a good time always friendly music is always banging and now Ive just found out that one of my favorite bartenders is back in town and serving drinks at the hole Ill be hanging out more there in the future
This has become my favorite bar in the city to drop by , play pool, be completely yourself and meet an eclectic mix of friendly people with no attitude & very fun atmosphere with cool lights , an artists creation of the universe and so much more. In small package . Sort of a “gay man cave on Folsom”
I walked in here Wednesday 3/22/23 to buy a soda ginger ale and the you white bartender told me where is your ID HE was very rude I just walked out this gay bar.
Was recommended to check this place out by a bartender of another bar. Hole in the wall had a cheap $2 drink special. Great service and loved the vibe of the place.
The decor, the people, and the music made this a wonderful spot to end my night!!! Great energy!!
This is a great bar. Friendly staff, cool normal sexy men, good drinks. I love their Thursday shirtless night.
The antithesis of the current mean girls gay scene in WEHo and Castro. Real people getting real drunk and stoned. A breath of fresh air after living in the Seattle freeze so long.
Well, we thought this was a hole in the wall, but not literally!! We were the only 2 chicks in there, lol. Had a great beer, love to people watch!!
A San Francisco staple not a sexy bar but it is a cool one. Welcoming crowd with a pool table!
I spoke to the owner on the phone and he was very rude towards. He also has a very smart mouth to be in the hospitality business. I will never come there again!!!!
I say this with all affection. The place is full of freaks. I feel almost normal there. Muggles/Mundanes/Etc, beware. Hardcore druged out wingnut? Also beware.
Best gay bar in SF if you dont feel a fit with twinks, bears, or the leather crowd.
Great bartenders, fun atmosphere. Really dark, but cool
Best music in any bar anywhere.
My hangout every time Im back in the city.A true original!
Its nice to drink a wine looking the old fashioned pictures and movies around.
Almost last place in gay SF not taken over by techies and developers.
Please dont bring your girl friends
A total dump. Dark. Smokey. Two bottles of water are $8.00. AVOID!!!
Good people, strong drinks, and a pool table. What else ds can you say?
Classic alternative SF. Great vibes and music.
I love miguel....friend of his mother
This is one of my favorite bars in Soma!
This is the only blue collared gay bar that plays rock music.
More thanmore thanmore than nice…😜
Rude staff, felt harassed.
Its t&e Absolute BEST!!!
Dark bar, good music
Lots of crazy fun!!!
Great ambiance
