Enjoyed my first visit to this bar for the Disorder 80s night. Great venue, lovely staff and bouncers. Music was really fun. A few concerns I had though. I was under the impression (based on the advertising) that it was going to be really awesome dark wave and goth. The DJ was good but I think he was too young to really know what dark wave actually is. He didnt even play any of the standards like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Clan of Xymox, Nina Hagen, Gary Numan, etc. Some really deep B sides would have been great as well. Hopefully in the future the DJ can brainstorm with someone from that generation to really learn what Goth and dark wave are. It would also be cool if the bar would play some videos of the songs like the clubs did in the actual 80s. Only one video was playing in loop of 80s club kids dancing. Looking forward to come back for another visit when Im in Seattle.
Overall, Fun, inclusive, vibrant club. Security was ON TOP OF IT at all times, even helping us navigate out of the crowd when we wanted to exit the dance floor but were stuck by an aloof group. Bar tenders were quick, experienced, and friendly. Couldnt have had a better birthday club night out. The Candi Pop night was lovely, DJ absolutely slayed, and the eclectic/queer and diverse group made it a welcoming and fun environment.Negatives: The bathrooms were very bad. Its typical of other establishments. Could use more fans for dancers as only one was positioned stage right and a packed venue became very hot. Also, the fog machines were positioned where they blew at an angle over the crowd instead of up, and without much airflow it was harder to breath (even if it was beautful and fun to experience the fog/strobe). I wouldnt personally say the club is very accessible in its walkways/dance floor or bathrooms but that could be attributed to the packed night itself and not a reflection of the club in other circumstances or events.
Soooooo good dj for disco night 7/28, we’re bummed crowd isn’t fuller. Good, fast service and kind bouncers, got our group in at good price for all of us ;)
Amazing, friendly staff. Inviting atmosphere . I really think the space is spaced out pretty well with the stage and the bar having great focus. And the decor Is funky and weird in the best kind of way. Really adds to the fun vibe. And pricing is pretty decent.
Cool venue, I went on a Monday a couple months ago, super sick dj and vibe. Went this past Saturday night for their more heavily marketed “dance yourself clean show”, got there at 9 and they didn’t have a dj, they had it set up for one, but no dj after 50 minutes and $20 my friend and I left. Kinda seems like a place for people looking to drink and look cute for Instagram, maybe not as much of a “venue venue”. Very aesthetic though
This is a street level south Capital Hill night life spot for younger crowds looking to hear younger music from local bands. My wife and I went to listen to Emily Stranger, our daughter. Venue has 60s era decor with its lighting and wall art. Seating is limited in the main performance area but there is another more conversation condusive area in the front looking out to the street and sidewalk. Its a non-smoking facility with what appeared to be upgraded ventilation. No food that I saw, only drinks. Free parking in surrounding neighborhood or paid parking across the street.
Very fun and welcoming environment. Went for an event, and theres multiple rooms for you to go to depending on the vibe you want, including a dance floor! Theres also a hot dog vendor right outside in case you get hungry, and hes there very late.
I had a friend that had to go the bathroom like 2-3 because he had to pee. Security guy seemed to have mistaken him for a very drunk person, because he kept pushing very hard for him to not drink, and he was slightly yelling at us in front of our faces while his breath smelled like a sewer
Wonderfully small Seattle venue. Great place for a weekend meetup with friends online enjoy some local music. Two bars inside to ensure quick service. And even a kitchen in the back staffed periodically by food truck-businesses for weekend shows. Nice intimate seating area as well. Only drawback is it can get very hot, very fast once packed with other concertgoers.
Small venue but was generally great. Concert had some audio issues but other than that a great experience
The music was so bad. i requested party in the usa 5 times and the dj still didnt play it. he continued playing the worst edm known to man, and didnt play white girl beats. you can dance there but thats it.
Without any greeting, alert or warning, a blonde man with ex-convict tattoos on his face snatched a drink from me that I was having in line. Later, a fat ginger man, came out aggressively at me in line when I was complaining about the mistreatment explained above. This is not the way to receive clients. I will not return to this place nor do I recommend it.
The food is terrible. The music is worse! Drinks are way too expensive and the cover is outrageous compared to nearby venues. Save yourself the trouble and go to another cap hill bar!
Very intimate place, but a great experience. Workers were great; not overzealous but accommodating. It was a bit weird, though, having a frizzy-haired dude standing strategically so he could peer into portions if both mens and womens bathrooms. But, all in all, great experience for Max Frost concert.
Perfect amount of people for a Friday night. Big enough crowd to get lost in and dance yet quick and easy to get drinks. Love the slightly gritty yet intimate venue. We met some cool people there, which can be slightly difficult in this reserved city :D
Security is on top of their game! Had some jerk pretending to moshpit and wanting to fight me/other patrons and security kicked him out almost immediately!
Small and cozy venue. If you like to stand during a concert and see the whites of the entertainers eyes, which I do, then this is the place for you. If you want to sit down and enjoy a concert then you better get here early and secure one of the 4 or 5 spots (in the bar) that allow this. There was no food available during the concert that I attended. Parking can be found in the nearby underground garages, but the pay lot across the street is not available on Sundays.
Had a wonderful time! Great vibe! Great people 💖
A club that is on top of things and capable of giving you a good night no questions asked. 5/5 I would recommend!!
Our experience was amazing. Bartenders were pretty quick for a busy night, music was good. My only after-thought is I hardly knew any songs (Im 35 and theres lots of music I havent heard) but we still managed to dance the night away. DJ was great and atmosphere was next to perfect minus some creepy guys trying to hit on girls who didnt want it. Great place to people watch.
Great vibe, fabulous staff. Flammable Sundays feels at home here, is not to be missed!
Perfect divey bar vibe- be forewarned they do not have a coat check available every night, when I went on a Friday in August it wasnt available. Fridays they have a guest list if you arrive early, great way to pregame before anything later in the night.
This is an awesome venue for dance parties, with a diverse and fun clientele. The staff is observant and considerate for the well-being of the people there. Drinks are a bit on the spendy side, but considering the quality of the events (especially on Sundays) its well worth every penny. Flamm Fam, youre the best 💚💚💚
Disorder 80’s New Wave night was fun!!! Do it again soon!
Love coming here for Candipop! The venue is quite small, with two bars included in the space. Ive only been to one event (Candipop) and its always very busy and crowded. The staff are typically nice, good music, and its a fun time!
Has strict curfew rules, but the venue is nice.
Went there to see a buddy perform. Cool, chill spot.
This place is a blast. Saturday night DJ is terrific. Drinks are strong and service is quick. Love it.
I was cussed out by a bartender for not giving her a satisfactory tip. When I brought this up to another woman working security, she said “if you can’t afford to drink, don’t go out.” Never have been treated worse by a bar. Unfortunate because the general vibe of the place is fun and the hot dog cart outside the bar always hits after a night out.
Nice venue, friendly door staff and bartenders, and really just some solid weekly events throughout the week. The crowd is smaller than it used to be (as is the case everywhere post pandemic), but this is still one of my favorite venues.
This is the spot to have good time. Even the bouncer outside was nice. Drinks are reasonably priced and the crowed is cool and just Seattle awesome. Music is always great here. I highly recommend to go visit if you’re in town or a local.
One of my favorite clubs in Seattle. Its small but I really like the vibes. The bartenders are nice. The only drawback is that theres a cover fee and they only take cash. They have an ATM inside, but its not reliable.
Security was nice, bartenders were great, music and sound was good. The 21+ area is nice to get away from some of the crowd.
I went to an event advertised to start at 9pm. Its 9:36 and security is going in and out locking the door behind them with no one yet allowed to enter. At 9:12, I was told doors would open in 15 minutes. There are only a few people outside waiting. I see why hardly anyone is here, this venue probably does the same thing every week.
Super fun place if you can see its packed.Cost of cover is a recommendation for security. They charge what they want on top, so be as nice as possible
Love this venue. The staff is always really helpful, cool, and down to earth. The events done here are unlike any that youll find elsewhere in Seattle. No joke, theyre everything from throwback nights to new stuff and everything in between. GREAT sound system with chill lighting. The bar is pretty huge with a great selection and knowledgeable bartenders. Check out the lounges here as well!
Great selection of beer on tap.. didnt try any cocktails. The sound was better than expected considering its a small space. Clean bathrooms with friendly messages on the womens stall walls that made me extra happy to be there. Excited to go back and try the food next time.
Small and cool place for live music. I just saw a show there for the first time! Only thing was we waited outside 40mins past the doors open time and the place was completely closed. A sign or something saying what the holdup was for wouldve been nice, but Im just glad we got in eventually. Theres a section inside for 21+ only as the bar area with some chairs, tables, and booths, and separate from that is an open floor for watching the artists or dancing. The floor also had some booths against the walls for people who need a break or have impaired mobility. All in all, I had fun! I was also super grateful I thought to bring earplugs, the music was chest shakingly-loud (I loved it haha)
Small venue. Me and my friends went on DYC Saturday night. The music was cool wish there was more EDM with lyrics though. The crowd was interesting probably majority gay, so not much chance of picking up girls.I ordered the same drink twice, and got 2 different prices from bartenders, so one definitely upcharged. I got here an hour after opening and the floor was pretty sticky.
Not the chop suey that I remember.I went to chop suey having purchased a $15 ticket ahead of time for an event. The information on the website said free entry before 10:00 or guaranteed entry with the purchase of a $15 ticket. When I arrived I was greeted to a line that wrapped around the building.I walked to the front of the line thinking that those of us who had pre-purchased tickets and had them waiting at will call could just go in. I was told I could go in if I joined the end of the line and waited like everyone else. The bouncer told me that the $15 ticket meant guaranteed entry before 10: 00. I recheck the flyer, nowhere did it say that. Then I was told if I gave the bouncer a $20 I could walk straight in.So not only did I pay $15 plus tax on a Wednesday for a ticket that was essentially useless when I arrived at the venue on the Friday, then in order to enter the building I had to give the man a $20 bill.If this venue plans on pre-selling tickets and then having an a line for folks who need to buy tickets at the door there should be two separate lines.Cannot recommend attending this venue.
I really wanted to give this place more stars, but I went to an event at Chop Suey in Seattle and it was So. Dirty. We got there at the beginning of the event and almost couldn’t find a place to sit because there was sticky grossness all over everything. The bathrooms were disgusting, someone had thrown up on the ground in front of the toilet, it was dry like it had been there for hours. I later recounted my experience to a friend and they were absolutely not surprised, I was told that this bar is always like that, and this is post- COVID. It was very busy and there were only two bartenders, who were clearly overwhelmed. Do better, Chop Suey. At least wipe down surfaces.
This is the first negative review I’ve ever left. I’ve been sceptical about shows since the pandemic and I made it out to one here, and while they require vacation cards upon entry, they seem totally uninterested in indoor mask policies while indoors. At least 25% of people were not wearing one and another 10% were half wearing them. During this time, I don’t recommend this venue to anyone who is concerned about their health. Great venue, great band, but DO SOMETHING about your crowd.
My friends and I come here often, we all agree that this a great place to dance and have a drink.Super friendly staff that is quick and professional.Prices are on par or lower than the surrounding clubs and the stage/sound system kicks ass for a place this size.
I saw yellow cat here and she was incredible. This bar is amazing. The people are amazing. The service is amazing. The atmosphere was pretty epic and it’s a really really cool place in Capitol Hill.
Cover was $8. Crowd was pretty lively and fun. Music was good to dance to (mostly electronic with indie mixes) but could have used more popular current tracks. Overall its a nice place to go out, dance, and have fun.
Doors open at 8? Then why am I standing outside in line at 9:02? If the show starts at 9, cool, then tell me 9. Dont make me wait outside and waste my time.
1000th review, let’s goooo (5-Stars 🙂)
Most nights are themed, lines can be long before midnight. Its usually very very hot so expect to be sweating. The ground is usually very wet and slippery, dont wear nice shoes. Also dont wear white because youll likely be spilled on due to the crowding. Good energy and crowd, fairly small venue. 2 bars and a bathroom. Photo booth that never works and two couch lounges
This is a great place to go see local shows and events. Ive only been here a couple times for Dance Yourself Clean and Emo night, as well as just to chill at the bar. The alcohol is cheap, and I really dig the dive bar vibe aesthetic, which Cap Hill needs more of. I think service could be better, but I gotta give it to the small close-knit staff for trying working their asses off during busy nights. I know Im always going a fun night when I go to Chop Suey.
I loved the music here very much but what killed it for me was the groups of people. Ive never been to an establishment where people get violent on the dance floor when just scooting around people. Ive never been to a place that people get to stay in a place when clearly theyre really drunk and get up on the stage when they cant do that and they get to stay in that place. It became so overly crowded that we couldnt dance. We had to leave and I didnt want to cause I wanted to keep listening to that music but man if the place wasnt so overly crowded then I would probably go more. This was our first time going there and I was really excited about it but after seeing the type of crowd that goes there in which Im talking about overly drunk and violent people. I dont like the feeling of being out with my husband to go dance and Ive got other guys trying to dance on him and even when you ask them to stop or tell them that youre not interested. They keep doing it. Like thats so disrespectful. Or the feeling of dancing in one spot and you havent moved. Someone is out on the dance floor and theyre not dancing and they just happen to rub up against you by accident so they get mad and jab you really hard in your back with their elbow on purpose. I think security needs to do a better job on watching these people. I didnt feel safe in there and I probably wont be going back. Overall good music though.
Great place with vibe, music and crowd. The drinks are okay with reasonable price. It gets more crowded around 10:30pm.The bouncer could be unreasonable and aggressive at times. He mistakenly attacked my friend and didnt apologize. Hopefully management can do something about this.
Chop Suey is a fun, intimate bar with good drinks and great music. The space is small but its not that bad. Id like to give their bathrooms a shout out for being the nicest bar bathrooms I have ever seen. I appreciate the little things like that. Its a bummer the bar gets so crowded but its like that everywhere so not that big of a deal.
The place is a fun dance bar with a dance floor, bar at the dance floor, and bar tucked in the back for a quieter feel.Just remember its a cash only place for cover and for coat check but you can pay for drinks with your card???Otherwise its fun to throw down here. Its a little ratchet but that might be what youre looking
Fun atmosphere to be in every weekend. They have themed nights and the one we went to yesterday was 2010s music themed. The lineups could be extremely long -- we waited 45 minutes to get in.
One of the last real Seattle, old school Capitol Hill vibes (circa 04-07 vibes... Before, WELL,... EVERYTHING! ) anything you see here is a intimate vibe. The parade drag show and LA ganja estranga ATE IT UP. Stick to a nice human compared to other drag race starts who dont politely listen to fans. But this a Seattle staple and I even attended a show (08) for camp lo Luchini aka This Is It and best intimate audience vibes. Great shows and dj sets
I worked there didnt go inside but it looks fun and theres always a hot dog vendor outside the front door when I was working mates
Phenomenal Dance Yrslf Clean indie dance night every Saturday, Slay hip-hop/rap night on the last Friday of the month, and Candy Pop every first Friday. Great dance venue with nice bouncers. The lady who takes entry fees could be a bit friendlier, though
DYC at Chop Suey is always $5 if you arrive before 10 and $10 after 10.Huge group was there around 9:30 and they wouldn’t let people in for DYC yet.Made everyone wait outside until after 10 and then charged the $10 double price.Which also meant a lot of people had to pay to use the ATM since it was cash only. They even had a sign printed inside, making it obvious they were never letting anyone in before doubling the price. This place has too good of a reputation and history to be pulling this kind of thing for a recurring event.
The bar is kinda meh, but the dancing was pretty fun. Waited an hour and a half for the event to start, but the music was good. Very crowded dancefloor, but fun and chill vibes.
Sweet venue. The sound is unreal and the setup for all ages shows is efficient/well-marked. Fair warning if it is an all ages show if you are under 21 there are no in and outs so be wary/ask the door people when you come in. Otherwise a super rad spot with great bands coming through.
I love chop suey! it’s sofun
We went to Neon Jungle Party last weekend and checked in our jackets. When it was time to pick up our jackets at the end of the night, the coat check person said he already gave them away when we presented our numbers. We lost several jackets including Patagonia jacket and a bomber jacket. Please get coat check more organized to provide a better experience for your future customers. Thank you.
Fun place, usually the people are great and the staff is pretty good.Only two caveats are:1. It gets really really warm, sweaty and crowded. I wish they improved ventilation and increase cover charges.2. It can get really loud, they dont do sound checks or anything like that. Earplugs are recommended.
Ok. Not that great with ambience or sound. Found that its next to a gay bar once I got there but the club is not exclusively for same sex events. Theyre not that clear on which events are specifically for specific audiences. Spent money to buy tickets on a DJ night just to find out that it was a hairy bearded dude gay dance night. Although the people were nice, just felt a bit cheated and awkward. Not my cup of tea.
Love Dance Yourself Clean (every Saturday) and Candi Pop (first Friday of each month), great dance parties with great DJs. The drinks are typical prices for Seattle, and the sound quality has been great at the couple concerts Ive seen here. Really intimate venue, so if a band you like is playing here, absolutely get a ticket!
Literally one of the safest and most fun clubs in Seattle! Have done Candi Pop and Emo Nite here and met a ton of great people and it never felt sketchy. Will continue to come back and will reccomend it for clubbers!
Great place for smaller names, nightmare for soldout shows.Extremely small music venue with average venue drink prices at the bar. The bar is my biggest disappointment with the space. Access to it becomes difficult at all ages shows. There is a lack of good seating anywhere in the bar, there are a few tables with strange cushion seats set around the tables. There is one raised bench with two tables. This is the only viable place to have a drink, sit, and be able to see the stage from above all the people in the crowd.
Great, casual spot for live music on Capitol Hill. The location is really central and not very expensive. Came here for a free concert and the sound was fantastic and service really solid. Havent been on a typical night but Ive heard mostly good things!
Pretty good venue, small which I personally prefer and the bartender was great!
Chop Suey is one of those places that mostly everyone in Cap Hill knows about. Saturday nights is an event called Dance Yourself Clean, where a DJ would just play and the place gets packed and people just dance. They have two bars inside which is nice, one inside near the dance floor and one in the back away from the dance floor in a more private room. They have some food there, but the kitchen closes kind of early. Try to get there early to miss out on cover charges if possible too.
The sound guys are not good at all. They turned the rhythm guitar way up and the lead guitar and vocals all the way down. Other than that the venue is pretty good. The backroom is weirdly awesome and has a minifridge.
Place is clean and crowed with a great vibe. Not my type of music (they play more local/hipster), but have good DJs there. Service was fast, beer selections are nice. Overall, a really fun time.
This bartender with an unpatizing hair cut approximately 28-32 years old was unexplained disrespectful disrespectful and aggressive would love for the company to reply to me so I could figure out his name and stop this class of brutal employment this company is employing I have honestly never experienced someone as bad as this terrible staff member and do not know how this person could be employed by a company who actually cares about themselves as a company
This is always a fun time for us. My wife and I love checking out live bands, and Chop Suey is a favorite venue. At 59 and 66, we are always the oldest in the room, a badge of honor. The kids always seem surprised to see us and we are always getting high fives.
Awesome tunes for Slay with dynamic DJs! Drinks are a little weak and pricey. Funky atmosphere. Friendly bartenders. Pay parking lot right across the street for those (like me) who dont want to hassle with finding street parking and dont live in-city.
Although I dont venture to Chop Suey for more than the occasional concert, I have to recommend it as the best place to party on a Monday night - even if it means tackling Tuesday with a hangover. The atmosphere is pretty average for your Capitol Hill dive bar, but the bartenders are fast and they do not overcharge on drinks (which is all a gal can really ask for these days). The atmosphere gets a rating of 3 here, thanks in large part to Mondays host DJ, TigerBeat. He spins an eclectic mix of old and new, and sometimes rocknroll, that gets the entire bar dancing. Go check it out for yourself.
There is not a better place to go to & dance on a Saturday night. When I lived in Seattle Chop Suey was my go-to spot to feel alive again — and in a city full of gentrification, it’s nice to see a thriving scene at a low key spot that still feels authentic
Highly recommend for drunken dancing. Floor gets gross on Fridays/Saturdays but to be expected. I left my card their once and found out their hours on Google aren’t correctly listed for Sunday and no one will answer the phone.
I like going here on indie nights(Saturday nights) . Music is usually good, I like the DJs they have. Bartenders are always nice. Security knows how to handle this crowd. Good place to go with friends.
Great place to dance usually. The themed Beyoncé and Rihanna night was too much of the same thing and many of the songs were hard to dance to so we left. The 5 stars is for previous great times
Watched Why Dont We perform here. The venue had a chance to impress but fell short when there was NO air conditioning on the day of the event. People should remember a show because of the music performance not because it was smoldering hot!
The staff and bouncers are young and immature. They feel entitled to enforce the law, yet are only employees of an establishment. The bar and music is awesome but the staff is pretentious, discriminatory, and biased. They even banned a patron because he had a sip of alcohol that wansnt from them establishment. You aren’t police officers, and you wouldn’t dare call the cops on your place, there is enough illegal smoking weed, doing drugs, to gain that attention. If you were a sober and compliant bar the cops would show up when you called. But you ain’t calling the cops.
Such a wonderful venue!! The actual sound of the place is great and its very easy to navigate, as well as disability accessible! They took so many precautions with opening back up, and it really paid off
Kickin dive bar with a pretty good sound system, strong pours, and a variety of programming. The kitschy Asian theme doesnt seem to extend very far beyond some paper lanterns and other window dressing, but its still a comfortable place to kick back -- especially if the lounge area near the front is open. It makes a nice chillout room, or just a place to enjoy your drink -- which, as mentioned, is likely to be strong. If mixed drinks arent your thing, they usually have a few decent beers on tap as well.If youre in it for the music, there should be something up your alley: punk shows, Bootie mash-up, Bollywood jams, and pretty much anything else is fair game. They manage to keep the place (even the bathrooms) surprisingly clean for a club, and the staff remains friendly. Getting there a bit early guarantees you a table and unfettered access to the photobooth near the bar. Score!
The events organized at chop Suey are really nice. The last one I went to was Candi Pop and it was real fun. However the dancing area can get a bit packed and really hot.
Website said small purses were allowed into the venue. When I got to the door I was told by a bouncer that my 8x4 inch crossbody purse could not come inside. When I asked him what I was supposed to do with it, he pointed to a pile of purses on the sidewalk near the door and suggested I put the important things in my pockets. Eventually enough women were standing outside demanding a refund that a manager was called outside in which he reluctantly allowed purses inside the venue just for tonight.
Chop Suey is the best bar in capitol hill because they have a dancefloor and the best music. Every Saturday is Dance Yourself Clean, which is all indie-pop music. Only downside is theres cover ($5).
I had an incident where a guy grabbed a chunk of my hair to catch himself as he fell off a stool. The same guy told me to chill as he climbed back up on a stool to get a better view of the band. I told the guy bartender who told me to grab security. A female bartender interrupted to take care of the situation. She got the drunk fool to stop climbing on furniture and was very solicitous. I wish I caught names because she was awesome but Im really disappointed the male bartender was so dismissive. Really not cool and it was tough to enjoy the show with how much leeway they gave the drunk and disorderly who were spilling drinks on people and trying to start fights.
Security inside venue was obnoxious with his incessant flashing and ridiculous behavior regarding masks when they are all maskless within the venue. Couldnt get into any dance groove as music was horribly choppy and inconsistent. There wasnt a seamless transition with the music.
Had a great time here. Drinks were not the greatest but entertainment and atmosphere were great!
I got to the bar at 12:30 for a Kylie Minogue party. The cover was 25 bucks which is quite a lot when the artist isn’t there. I had 23 dollars on me and the lady at the front was extremely rude because I was only Going to be there for an hour. 2 dollars would have saved 2 stars here. On top of that they weren’t even playing Kylie is was just house music disguised as Kylie. Pretty sad and I won’t be going back based on how I was treated, the product given and the cost
The entrance fee ($12) is a little steep but the music was fantastic and the drink prices are reasonable. The fog machine on the stage is overkill and had us choking in the front row.
No apparent coat check and there were only white people dancing, who on separate occasions told me I looked like the rock. I am neither muscular nor bald. Just light skinned and wore a turtleneck. The only reason this deserves more than one star was the wonderful bartender Miss Faye who remembered me the second time I went there.
Small live venue in Capital Hill with good sound and a nice beer selection. Every once in a while you can catch a nice act here that would play in much larger venues elsewhere in the world.
Venue is complete garage LOL. Kicked me out before show started off accusations and didn’t give me one chance to explain myself. Glad the artist was 30 mins late so I didn’t even have to worry about getting a little taste just got nothing at all! Won’t be back! 1 STAR. Would do - Stars if possible.. SAVE UR MONEY!
Cool small venue, decent prices on drinks and nice staff. Pretty close to all of the bars in cap hill so its nice and central to the action.
I sold 7 tickets for $8 bucks each if not $10. And this place gave me $6I may never play here again. Nor will I suggest any of you do the same. The staff obviously skims money from each band. And they have no proofs for payments.
Decent enough venue if not on the lousy side of things; rating one star because the name is blatantly racist. the hand stamp i got at a show last thursday was straight up in poor taste... not sure why seattle still puts up with things like this honestly time for a rebrand
One of the best venues I have ever been to. I love small venues so this place was perfect. Loved the couch with the living room feel in the back. Will definitely be back.
I went there to go see Paris she is amazing as an amazing amazing voice and because the sound guy there didnt want to do his job we could barely hear her the place was very weird structured the drinks were way overpriced and there was only one security guard there that seem like you actually enjoyed his job I had a great time with my people and seeing her but its not somewhere that I would actually want to go again
Nice intimate stage with a variety of angles and places to stand as well as surprisingly some to sit. Was a great venue
Local, fun and grimey (in a good way). So much good live music.
It was a good vibe but they are not open until 2am and will push everyone out at 1:45am during a snowstorm. Will be back under different circumstances.
I saw a concert here and it was great. The sound was good and there was plenty of staff for getting drinks. Not much seating but what do you expect.
I like this place and i’ve been like 5-10 times and great crowd, BUT MAJOR PROBLEM is they always play the same wack music.. need to hear some edm or hip hop
First Friday is Candy pop night but you dont need to wait. If you are up for a dance and some light hearted fun this is the place for you. Remember to grab a hotdog to round off the night!
Nice night club but the best part is the hotdog stand that is out there every weekend best cream cheese dogs out tere plus great people thatare out there every weekend
Great indie dance scene! Try the cream cheese hotdog after. The pairing I didn’t know I always wanted
Dance yourself clean on Saturday nights is a good time if your looking for a good place to dance in the cap hill area. Cheap drinks, a little dirty.
Pleased with my first time here for a small show. Great space and great bartender.
Came there on a Saturday. Wasnt packed and left after shortly. The bouncer even told us to come on a Friday and not Saturday. Cool venue, but music was off...
The venue was fun, but the music wasnt anything to be bragging out. No smooth transitions and very questionable songs.
Great venue for intimate concerts. Just a side note you are only allowed to drink your alcoholic drinks near the bar and it can get pretty crowded.
The event started an hour late, and they didnt play any music relevant to the theme for 45 min after opening. It was so crowded you couldnt even get to the bathroom or to the bar (definitely breaking fire code). Additionally, I had 3 drinks spilled on me.
Fun atmosphere for a show. The drinks we priced good. The security staff was polite. All in all a good place.
Im really glad I didnt ripped my pants this time from dancing. 🤭😅😅. Good music and drinks. If you are in town visiting or whatever your reason might be, come check out here.
It gets the job done haha. Never seen really high end artists here but its a venue and you get to be up close with them so overall its a good time.
I went to a dope concert and this place had she decent space, areas for drinking and non-drinking for an all ages venue and more seating than expected!
Drinks were great and custom made. Love the dj vibes.
What a great venue. Small enough to be inviting and big enough to go sit down somewhere. I like it
Great sound!! Comfortable place to enjoy great music. Chill vibes, looking forward to going back
Chop Suey is legendary! Came all the way from Philadelphia for the Eagles v. Seattle with a group of my finest pals. We went to chop suey to have a night we wont remember with the people well never forget. We were in chop suey SHREDDING that dance floor. I highly recommend chop suey and I might move to Seattle just so I can go to chop suey every day
Party rock event was soooo dope. Most definitely plan on coming back again.
I love everything about chop suey. The employees, the atmosphere, and most importantly the live music. A stellar and underrated place to catch a show!
Nice atmosphere, great new rock bands playing. Only thing that would have been nice is if they had a 2nd bartender for when they got busy.
Good music, cheap prices, intimate venue. Id highly recommend it to anyone looking for a less rowdy and more respectful place to dance.
I went here for emo nite. I had so much fun. Environment was good. Drink prices are good. I will come back again for another event.
Well, theyve made a golden idol of a girl you used to beHangin bangles on your branches like a lonely Christmas treeYeah, theyve dressed you fit for killin in your thrillin new disguiseNailin artificial spangles to the diamonds in your eyes.In the golden coach that turns into a bedYou better make it girl before you wake up deadCause theyll paint your burning beauty with a coat of shiny liesAnd theyll blind you with their wine so you wont even realize.Till you watch the face youre washin disappearin down the drainAnd youre staring in your mirror going privately insaneIn that golden crown theyve pushed down on your headYou better make it girl before you wake up dead.Look around them golden sidewalks that youre walking on todayAnd youll see that lonely gutter just a careless step awayAnd the altar that theyre building you dont even understandCause theyre dazzled by the flashing of the daggers in their hands.Well be dancing in the darkness when their music disappearsAnd the jangle of your chains will be the only sound you hearTill your broken bodys bleedin on an altar made of stoneAnd youve sacrificed your soul to please a world thats sick and wrong.Cause you never heard a single word I saidOh, make it girl before you wake up dead...
Awesome music, great location. Ample seating, the dance floor is a smidge small but I love that
Decent venue, stage on the small side. Good atmosphere.
Affordable drinks, fun shows, good crowd. I most often go on Saturday nights for alternative/electronic dance music.
Great sound system and live music venue. Just grungy enough.
Reeeeally cool venue! Awesome layout!
It was Wednesday early afternoon When I walked in, was greeted with a less than friendly staff. Went to the bar area and was refused my order. Definitely not going back
One of my new favorite venues. Great vibe and friendly staff. Will definitely go again.
I like this place! Friendly staff, cool bar with nice seating, a small venue that lets you get up close, and its smack in Capitol Hill.
A good event venue, friendly bar staff, however, the woman at the door was much less than welcoming.
Saturday night they do an event called dance yourself clean with some fun alternative dance music. Great place to party on the weekend.
Went for Louden Swain concert. That was fun. Unfortunately, started smelling cigarette smoke near the end, (probably from outside?). That part was not fun.
Meh. I went for live music my first night in Seattle. Everything about the experience was just okay. Drinks were meh, food was kind of gross, the staff was meh....
The bouncers here are absolutely terrible. They are power tripping and rude. The music isnt great to dance to and their uneven floor is unsafe. Ill never go back here.
Just excellent food and fast friendly service in a comfortable dining space. Everything we ordered was very good, and we ordered a lot!
Awesome place and the employees are amazing!! but im never coming back. seattle yuppies are trash and will complain if you dance lmaaaooo
Saw a live show here. They had water for the crowd and the sound was mixed well. Great venue.
Chop Suey is a quintessentially Seattle venues: divey, intimate, accessible, and incessantly host to cross-the-board events. Ive seen vulgar, nationally best-selling authors speak here; comedians, spotlight speakers from The Stranger, artshows, and everything from local 90s revivalist garagebands to nationally popular groups.Im going to a Kitten concert on Tuesday, and I cannot wait....and Im going nextdoor to try that illusive new Chinese place 8 afterward.
A venue dedicated to supporting live local original music. Great sound, albeit smallish. A really great atmosphere.
Great ambiance. Friendly staff and great music scene
Great music and friendly, helpful staff make this place a treat. Be sure to arrive early to find the best parking.
Super cool small / intimate venue, with a full bar offering.
The place is fun but be careful because the employees there will change your receipt and add extra tip. They dont understand its the same as stealing.
Lots of dancing. Not a big fan of the music normally played here, its to rock heavy, not enough pop or hip hop, which I think Id kind of necessary for a real night club.
Home to my favorite show, the Player Haters Ball. Nasty Nate was winner last time. I asked for his autograph, then he smacked me. Always kiss the ring!
The only good thing about this bar was the girl in the front taking the cover drinks were gross for how much money you spend I couldnt figure out who was more rude the door guy or the two bar tenders that just stood there on their phones and ignored you horrible horrible horrible place to go to if youre visiting just go to desiel or pony
Expensive drinks and weak drinks. Staff is nice for the post part. Good venue for small bands and acts.
Awesome venue, low cover charge, good music, good vibes. Drinks are appropriately priced for the area.
Doorman was friendly and attentive, bartender was quick and could understand my orders over the music. Well done, yall!
Great place to see up & coming national talent for not too bad of a cover and grab some cheap drinks! The Dragon Lounge is killer!
Security guide was unreasonably rude
Had a great time with Fu Manchu and Mos Generator!Freindly staff and quick bartender.Shots could be a lil larger : )Peace
Great venue but bring some earplugs bc the front of house mix is wayyyy too loud for that small of a space.
Way to hot... no moving air what so ever garbage sound equipment couldnt even understand the artist most of the time least favorite venue ever wont go back.
A wonderful club to dance in with a quiet bar away from the busiest parts of the club.
