Do NOT spend your money here!!!!!!!!!!After canceling my appointments due to lack of staff I decided I wanted to cancel my membership. (I was a member for 2 years)Easy right?!………. NOPE! 🫨The new manager was combative, disrespectful, and RUDE. I have the entire encounter on film.After canceling my membership the OWNER as well as the manager stole 3 months worth of massages from me by continuing to charge me. I was only able to get $95 back from my bank. This means I am out of $300 plus 6 unused massages that I am unable to use.I called daily for weeks and I was told the manager/owner would call to resolve the matter. It’s been months now and still I’ve heard nothing from anyone.Also, if you have a dispute with this location NO other location will assist because it’s franchised.I even called the previous owners who said the cancellation process takes less than 5 minutes…. If they have stolen from me how many others are they doing this to?In order to save yourself a headache…….RUN like Sha’Carri as fast as you can away from this location! ! ! !*I’ve attached photos of the manager as a reference so you don’t get taken advantage like I did!
A friendly, personal, and clean environment. I enjoyed my 60 min massage with Ruth. A transformative and healing experience… Stress relief and much love… I will visit again soon!
So unprofessional. I worked here for 5 months, and I cannot even get into contact with the manager in order to receive anything in regards to being a former employee. Keep in mind that the decision to leave was because I graduated, not because I had any problems or was fired. I left on an extremely good note. I have been requesting my W2/ADP login for WEEKS, and have not received any information in regards to this. I’m getting increasingly frustrated and did not want to take this to a public forum, but she has left me with no choice. I have sent emails, I have called, I have sent her emails personally, and have not received any communication. Beware.
I can only speak to my experience and so can not confirm or deny some of the experiences of others who have given low ratings. Ive been a ME customer for years but my usual location is Laurel. This was my first time at the Silver Spring location. I received multiple confirmations prior to my appointment. I arrived early and was taken early. I had an awesome massage from Alex. Probably one of the best Ive had at a ME. I noticed one other commenter viewed paid parking as a downside. Perhaps it is but frankly going to any place in a downtown area literally adjacent to DC paying for parking I think is expected but the benefit is the public garage (right next to the ME location) is cheap. I paid $2.50 for parking. The only odd thing to me was it looked to be a rather large location yet I didnt see any other customers. That did make me a little nervous when I first arrived (like is there something wrong with this location?) But at the end I had a great and relaxing experience. I wound up going to this location because my usual location and others nearby are always booked and its impossible to get massage appointments. Based on this one visit, I give the experience 5 stars.
Cancelled membership due to lack of availability of staff who have my preferences (deep tissue, female). I have remaining credits to be used in one month and made two appointments, received confirmation of them, upon arrival, then was told twice (two separate occasions) there was no reservation in system and they had to cancel my reservation.Theft of money at this location.
Horrible customer service. Management is very rude and does not listen to customers or make them feel valued. On top of that, I called 3 months before my one year subscription ended and asked to cancel at the end of term. The person I spoke with allegedly took care of it but in three months I received a call asking for a payment after the term ended. They said I had to fill out a cancellation form and threatened to send my case to collections. Do not trust this company.
DO NOT EVER GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH MASSAGE ENVY. They will not allow you to end that membership under ANY circumstances. Made the mistake of starting a membership with them several years ago, and it was fine. Now trying to get them to stop charging $80/month is impossible. My family needs this money now dealing with cancer treatments while raising four children.I tried doing so at the location the membership was started, even contacted their corporate offices, and the Franchisee is apparently the only person that has the ability to end a membership and neither the local store nor corporate will give me their information to contact them directly. I have to wait for them to contact me, which is ridiculous. I am going to have to resort to legal action, which is do not have the time, energy, or money to do.But this is their business model presumably. Dont make the same mistake I did.
I was gifted a 60 minute massage for my birthday. I called to make the appointment, but I never received an email confirmation or a confirmation via my online account, so I ended up missing the appointment since it wasnt in my email on my calendar. They said they tried to reach me via phone, but apparently they had the wrong number on file. Im not sure how they had the wrong number since I called to make the appointment. They also said I didnt have email notifications turned on via my account. Why is this something I need to opt into, and why isnt it automatic? I was charged the full $130 for missing the appointment since I never received a confirmation or reminder either via phone or email. They also didnt apply the points I was supposed to have from the gift I received. They said I couldnt use them retroactively, and I could only use them for another appointment. So I was charged $130 for my own birthday present that I wasnt even able to use. Beyond frustrating. They will not be receiving my business anymore. Do yourself a favor and spend extra money for a small business massage place. Massage Envy is not worth the hassle, and youll end up spending more with their ridiculous fees and policies anyway.
I absolutely enjoyed my facial with Amanda, I appreciate all the knowledge she provided about my skincare… you can definitely tell that she is very passionate about her field of work. My face was so soft and it was glowing when I left. I also loved the new GM!!! I used to hate this establishment due to a bad experience at another location. But after meeting the new GM and Amanda I signed up for the membership!!! I have to say that the GM knows how to provide a great customer experience and he was so good at making the membership sound so enticing. He even hooked me up with some freebies which absolutely sold me! I will definitely go back again! Thank you Massage Envy at Silver Spring!!!
Ive never been to a massage envy before and Ive of my dearest friends gifted me a session. Kenneth was extremely professional, kind, and knowledgeable. It was a great season where I learned a little more about stretching and enjoyed a nice conversation.This establishment is very clean! They have a cute waiting room where theres a faux fire on the wall, a tea station, and some comfortable seats in a dark, low music space. It was very calming.
I got a 90 minute deep tissue massage by Alex and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Alex did exactly what I asked which was perfect!! The staff in general were pleasant and I see myself revisiting this location. Thank you Massage Envy!
The only good thing about this location is the therapist Tom. Go to him if you come here. He works hard and uses firm pressure if that is important to you and fits your style.Here are the cons of this location:1. Inconsistent hours without warning2. Shortage on therapists availability3. Higher fees than other locations like Germantown is only $50 or $55 for a 50 min massage session but this location wants $70 per 50 min session. The Gaithersburg location is worse since they make up their own fees all together so it depends on who you talk to and what day of the week and mood they are in.4. You have to pay for garage or street parking as this location is downtown and there is no free parking space available.5. Front desk is polite but never helpful. They can come off curt at times and do not care.6. They don’t return calls if you need to cancel even if you are within the 24 hour cancellation window.You decide if you’ve want to come to this location. If you do ask for Tom;)
Please stay far away from this place! I had a 90 minute facial that left me with bleeding marks on my forehead and extractions so painful on my nose that I thought it would break. $260 later with tip and a face that looked worse going out then when first going in and an aesthetician that talked throughout and pushed products, I felt miserable. After issuing my concerns, they ignored me until I persisted. They never addressed my issues and offered a complimentary enhancement (worth around $15 only) for my next facial. Next facial? I’m never frequenting this place again. There are other negative reviews on Yelp. Disregard any comeback attempt by the business to discredit my review. Poor customer service and pricey ineffective treatments that leave you worse off as when compared to your arrival. My face has not changed one bit and I feel as if I flushed $260 down the toilet. Spread the word...stay far away from this location!
I had been experiencing a lot of pain recently and decided to book a last minute massage. That’s when I stumbled upon Massage Envy in Silver Spring. Despite some negative Nancy’s, I decided to give it a go. I was greeted at the door with a smile (behind a mask) and immediately felt at ease with all safety protocols. Passing the questions and temperature check I was escorted to the front desk for check-in. From there I was led to a clean and sanitized room where I filled out a few questions regarding my goals for the visit. My massage therapist Chenwei was excellent and really listened to the reason for my visit.After suffering some health problems in the beginning of the year and stresses from work I went in feeling very unbalanced. By the end of my 90 minute session, my shoulder pain was gone. When I left, I ended up signing up for the year membership.Ember at the front desk went above and beyond answering my 10,000 questions. It’s that extra level of customer service that truly makes a difference these days. If you’re contemplating giving this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed. Great experience!
I had Amanda do a chemical peel for exfoliation and dark spots. She was very professional and gave good tips on how to take care of my skin type. Also she gave me some products to use after the procedure which came with the service. Great first time experience.
I called to book same day appointment. I was told that the only way I can get appointment was to secure it with my credit card. I told them that I didnt feel comfortable doing that based on the reviews that I read. So I walked in. They still insisted on getting my credit card prior to performing service. At first they said only 90 minutes was available but they finally gave me 1hr slot. The deep tissue massage was great but I felt rushed so didnt get to relax. I wanted to sit for few minutes before I went in because I walked 30 minutes to get there (didnt want to deal with parking headache). They told me that Ill get less massage time. One hour is actually 40 minutes. I already paid and out the door by 4:34 and that included dressing up and chatting on the phone. Theres a basket in the room to put your belongings so you really cant relax unless you turn your phone off. They told me that massage will be $110 for 50 minutes next time. They didnt try to sell me anything else since I mentioned the reviews on Google. Wouldnt be going back.
They dont care about customers communication preferences - refuse to send email/calendar confirmation. This isnt hard to do and many other locations do it without a problem. The massage was below average, not worth it. Masks are enforced.
The worst massage envy Ive known. The massage and therapists were fine. The staff who run this location are an unprofessional pain. They dont honor the terms of packages they sell you and the costumer service response makes it clear that this is a pattern and not a one-off occurrence. 0/10 do not recommend.
Davaska, a lady in the front desk, is extremely rude and condescending. They tried to charge me for a massage that was already paid for and she said that my husband would have to bring the gift card to the store. Honestly, it was the second time I was going in for a massage and they had my information already. In the end, I had my husband send me a picture of the gift card and it was settled but she made the whole procedure more difficult than it should have been. Her attitude wasn’t the best and instead of coming out relaxed, I left rather disturbed by her attitude.
Between Ember and Tom, they took the time to really listen to my constructive feedback and accommodate me. That took time and effort. I left feeling like they cared, were patient, sensitive, professional, and mature. They took the time to prioritize long term clientele goodwill and I appreciate it. Good job.
Unfortunately I was not able to experience facial or massage at this place.I made an appointment and somehow they book me on completely different day.I found out about it at front desk.The lady at front desk did not apologized,no even simple sorry, no any sympathy. She make me feel like it was my fall and gave me an attitude.By the way I brought my mother to massage with me and she was very disappointed of course.Thats it. Will go to other place,dont want to see any rudeness at the end of working week instead of relaxing experience!
I’ve been coming here for about a year now. From the second you walk through the door, you know you’re gonna have a high quality experience. The ladies at the front desk are so pleasant and cheerful. It smells wonderful in the reception area, too.Since I deal with a lot of chronic muscle pain, I prefer deep tissue massages. If you need/want a deep tissue massage, Tom is your guy. He is an absolute pro! I always feel so much better after our sessions. He’s the best.
Avoid this location. They are happy to take your money and they will lean on you hard to up sell you their monthly package. Thats no big deal, however, this location is terribly unresponsive of you want to submit to your insurance provider. They ignored multiple requests from my insurance company, multiple emails from me, and assistant manager and manager coukd care less. Massages are average, but the level of care is horrible.
I went to this location yesterday, because I couldnt get an appointment at my regular location. I called on Sunday and spoke with Daveka and she made me an appointment for following day. She said there would be an additional charge of $10.00 because the service is more than @ my home location. However, after my service (chemical peel) was performed I was charged $20 additional. I told the cashier of what I was told the day before and she kept saying things that made no sense. I asked for manager but instead she brings out Daveka (the person who lied to me). Daveka states she told me that it would be $20 more but that was not true. It was not the money for me but the outright denial of what she had told me. IF she had said I apologize for giving you incorrect info. that would have been ok with me. She looked me in my face and said its in my notes. Wow o Wow..... IF THEY PULL THE PHONE CONVERSATION THEY WILL SEE SHE LIED TO ME. Daveka is not an asset to Massage Envy.
Do you know that the owner pays therapists only $20 an hour? Do you know that they sell you memebership that is really difficult to get out of? Think about these things before you go to Massage Envy. You will feel more relaxed knowing your money has gone to the therapists instead of the owner, the manager, and the franchize. You wouldn’t want to buy clothing made from a sweatshop, would you?As someone who worked there, front desk steal cash tips.
Massage Envy Downtown Silver Spring is a great place to work. The manager creates a positive, supportive work culture and is a tremendous model of best practice in every area of the business. The salary is competitive, and the massage staff and front desk associates are well-trained and professional. It is a very pleasant work environment.
What a wonderful spa. It’s so much bigger and cleaner than any other massage envy I’ve been to. Christopher was so professional and made me feel like a new woman. I found out the offer spa services like facials. I booked an appt with Nia. Parked next door at the big garage. Very easy. I will be back.
Scheduled an appt for a 60min facial but was booked for a 90min facial and told there was nothing they could do other than just cancel and still be charged(large price diff for facials).it was not my fault for their mistake and there was zero sympathy or compassion either take it or leave it.The facial was amazing and other customers were coming and going happily but I will never return because when they make mistakes customer service is non existent!!

Posted hours of operation (online & on door) do not match actual hours of service on weekend. Tried to come in at 8pm Saturday to find the location closed for the night.This issue needs to be addressed immediately.
Massage Envy was a great first experience for me. From the time you walk thru the doors until the time I left, I felt relaxed and tranquil. I highly recommend visiting Massage Envy.
