Massage Envy

Warning to non members!I purchased a gift card years ago for my bf as a graduation present. I asked at time of purchase if not being a member is an issue, was told no. 4 years later and he still can’t get an appointment because of how they manage appointments. I’m reviewing in hopes that someone from Massage Envy will reach out and offer to assist, but also to warn folks that this might not be the best place to purchase a gift card if the recipient is not a member.Also, since time of purchase the cost of service has increased. Now the 90 min hot stone massage including tip I purchased for him won’t even cover the service charge.

I saw Andrew for a massage and it was absolute perfect. It sounds dramatic but I woke up the next feeling more relaxed (especially in my upper back) than I have in months. I can’t recommend him enough! Next I had a facial with Sara- and it was everything I could have wanted and more: her expertise guided the process and my skin feels vastly more healthy and has a sweet glow to it. Booking my next appointments now….

Delee is wonderful. She has a firm touch and a gentle manner. She introduced me to the cupping technique and I love it! It really does help with muscle tension and just feels good and relaxing. I think I doze off every time now. Shes become my go-to therapist!

Jenelle was one of, if not the best, massage therapists I have had the pleasure of meeting. I would never have guessed that she was new to the art. Absolutely amazing and I left feeling so relaxed and stress free. I was super tight when I went in.

I had a great session with Dawson. I have seen him over the years but he is hard to book due to his limited schedule so when I saw a cancellation that needed to be filled, I jumped on it. He tapped into my needs and I left in much better shape than when I walked in.

Colby is GREAT!! I’ve seen him 3 times now and he really listens and is so good at getting rid of all the tightness in my lower back. He will continue to be my go every time I make an appointment!Also the girls at the front desk are really great! They were able to get me in for a massage in my birthday.

Mary is the best! Not just yesterday, but each and every time I have an appointment. I always leave feeling so much better than when I arrived.

I have been seeing Andrew for massages the last few years. He has awesome skills and is wonderful with clients. He adapts for each session for any changes and/or issues with me. I am very happy with the Massage Envy experience.

Carney was a great massage therapist. She was attentive to my concerns and the pressure was perfect.

Julia is great! She always takes the time to explain everything and puts me at ease. My skin has never looked better!

Very relaxing place to get a massage and they have lots of additional services to add to your experience. My favorite scent is the energize scented orange to add to the oil. You can also add foot services with warm wahcloths and rubs, and the new vibration tool gets deep into the muscle where some therapist just cant reach without this tool. It makes for a much more relaxing time and really relieves my tired sore achy muscles after a long day at work. Andrew is extremely detailed oriented and meticulous to make sure that he gets all your focus areas that are bothering you the most. Hes got a great personality and gives outstanding massages. You will not be disappointed and you will feel revived afterwards.

Mary is exceptional! She manages to work on my focus areas and still gets to everything else without feeling rushed. I always feel so much better after. She really is the best!

Marie was phenomenal. She is most knowledgable of the human body which translates into amazing expertise.

Molly is amazing! After a couple of stressful weeks (moving prep, work travel, etc.) I grabbed a 90 minute with Molly. Left feeling like I was floating on a cloud!

Odd experience. Therapist didnt introduce herself , only when I asked. Front of house didnt say anything when I went to leave. Very unusual.

Stretch sessions with Molly have been fantastic. I’m sleeping better and haven’t had a muscle or joint injury since starting sessions.

Jenelle was amazing! She paid attention to pressure, communicated with me and gave an amazing massage!

Andrew at massage envy in South Portland is incredible. I’ve been seeing him for at least 8 years and he is the only reason I continue coming back. I come every other week to see him. I would rate him 5 stars easily!!! The front office is a different story and I’m really upset with them. I wont be renewing my membership because of this situation. I had to cancel a same day appointment bc I was sick… like really sick and they charged me. I called back a few days later to speak with them and they stated they have a strict cancellation policy and it had been charged. So I would recommend you still going to your appointment even if you’re unwell. I wish they would have offered me to gift the massage to someone else but I didn’t think of that until later. Several years ago I had to cancel same day and they were super nice about it. When you attend appointments so frequently it’s bound to happen twice in a 8 year period. I’m just super disappointed in this company.

This massage envy location is a total scam , I did try to cancel my appointment yesterday and I thought it was a confirmed free of charge cancellation but their online portal was jammed up and I thought okay it might be an error. First thing in the morning I followed up to see what’s going on and they front desk explained that it happens often , the front desk did ask if she can call me back with an update and no there was no response. The next thing I hear after I made another call “ is that the manager did in fact cancel the appointment and went on by her day 😣This agenda of preying on people by using their same day cancellation policy excuse is their way to charge your card even though you didn’t consent to it. if you complain about their rudeness and unprofessionalism their racist manager threatens to call the police on you 🤧. After the front desk confirms that yes they were in the long , the manager tried to gaslit me talk about she does not care what the front desk does” deal with it .I highly don’t recommend this company at all , try it at your own risk ⚠️

Just had a microderm infusion facial with Julia and my skin was immediately aoft, smooth and glowing! ! She is so pleasant and has a very gentle touch. Highly recommend!

I have been coming to Mary for 3 yrs. now. Mary always asks how I feel and what I need work on. I let her know. She listens and works wonders ✨️ When I leave I always feel better than when I came. She is very caring and personal

Julia provides the most relaxing experience every time I have a facial. She is knowledgeable about skincare and makes you feel comfortable during your facial. I’m looking forward to scheduling my next appointment with her.

Mary is great! I highly recommend her. My complaint is scheduling is hard and always not available. I can’t get the person and time I want and I am sitting on high credits that can’t be used. Not worthy to keep the membership!

My wife and I enjoy our trips to Portland to get a massage or facial at Massage Envy. Amelia does a wonderful job at the facials and you leave with your face feeling smooth and refreshed.Margaret is great at tailoring the massage to exactly what you need. I prefer medium pressure but she is very capable of deep tissue if you need.The only issue I run into is that the location on Portland is quite busy and appointments are scheduled 2-3 months out. Unfortunately, on more than one occasion my appointment has been canceled due to an employee no longer working there. It seems its very hard to find and hold onto the massage therapists.It wouldnt be too big of a deal of it werent for the fact that I pay a monthly fee for their services. If the services arent used, it remains as a credit on my account. As a result of all the cancelations, I have many credits on my account that I cant even use before I get charged for another month. If I were to cancel my membership, Id then lose those built up credits.Contacting corporate for Massage Envy is pointless. They take absolutely no responsibility for their locations since they are a franchise and issues that arise are handled at the sole discretion of that local franchises owner, which to me, is unacceptable. After all, it is still all one company and lord knows they take my money all the same. To claim you cant help with membership issues at a store that would have had to have been approved by corporate to open in the first place is lazy and a disservice to their customers.My ending complaints are more directed at the corporate level massage Envy and not the local store in Portland where everyone has been very helpful and pleasant.

I’ve been coming to Massage Envy for almost 6 years.Andrew has always been my therapist and is outstanding. He’s friendly, professional and knowledgeable, always a great experience.

Julia is wonderful! I have been going to her for several years and would not go to anyone else for my facial. She’s knowledgeable and is very personable. You can assure you will have a great facial with Julia.

Andrew always makes sure to find out just how I’m feeling and where he should concentrate his attention during my time with him. He has a great personality and I always have a fantastic massage and always enjoy and appreciate all his care. He’s awesome!

Whoever answered thr phone had the most stuck up attitude Ive ever heard. Just because you SAY nice words doesnt mean youre being nice. And because im not a member i was immediately denied a weekend massage. No suggestions to become a member or anything. Pretty crummy customer service but whatever you dont need me or my money 🤷‍♀️

Everyone is super kind and attentive. Very relaxing place and massages are professional. I have 2 per month and it keeps me going !Mary is by far one of the best massage therapist I’ve ever had !She is highly skilled and knows how to get things moving especially in my damaged neck and spine.My recent massage was amazing as I had a pinched nerve and could not take a deep breath as it caused a lot of pain. By the time I left I could stand up easier and could take a deep breath.

All my experiences with Massage Envy have been very positive. Every single therapist I have worked with and staff member has been great!I especially enjoy my treatments with Caren. She has the right touch! She is kind and intuitive, as well as professional, knowledgeable and therapeutic.

I have had various levels of experience with massage envy. However, I must praise massage therapist Eben. He is top notch in all ways. He can do a full massage in an hour. Given an hour and a half with the freedom to choose what area needed the most work, he was spot on. In the past I had an excellent therapist that retired. I am looking to have someone that has a good method and instinct. Even fits the bill.

I love coming here for both massages and facials, I always have Julia for facials and she is the BEST! Friendly, great attitude and addresses any issues I have with my skin. She makes the environment very comfortable and relaxing.

Caren was really good! I’ve been a member for 10 years, well I had been. Things have really changed. The turnover of therapists is high and it has really impacted my satisfaction. I don’t like using my credits to take a chance on someone new on a regular basis. They were booking three months out yet my card was charged monthly. I was able to use all my credits due to the cancellation list and lucked out with 2/3 therapists that suited my taste. Ultimately I cancelled my membership.

My massage therapist Andrew is great!! Unfortunately we had and have a lot of issues with Massage Envy. It is so bad that no one in the front office wants to call us for unavailability. We pay a monthly service fee for an hour discounted massage. I need a massage once a week to be able to handle my pain. Andrew knows this and helps correct my body. But with all the calls. Massage Envy is NOT what it was almost 10 years ago. We are currently looking for a better establishment. Instead of going weekly we cut down to once or twice max. The front personnel are rude and have no clue what they are doing. Like last night we arrive at 7:20 at 7:25 we got out of the car because I had pee so bad. We live 1/2 hour away. No one came out at 7:30 we knocked and the girl said I’ll check you in I’m not ready and we didn’t call or text you. Hello our massage was scheduled for 7:30. Yes 7:30. She went back to her computer and then had to be talking about us because the other 4 people were looking at us. So my boyfriend knocks because I can’t hold it any longer. Someone comes and said you have to wait. He finally just says your running late and that is not professional but she needs to use the bather. Now she huffs like a 2 year and let’s me in. I look at my watch after drying my hands and it is 7:45pm and our massage was suppose to begin 15 minutes ago. I did call her out in it when I came out of the bathroom. I didn’t even get a 40 minute massage!!!!! We are leaving as customers as soon as we decide where to go. We had the best lady in the universe but she is finishing up another cranial certification. I would NOT recommend Massage Envy to anyone.

This review is not a reflection of the staff, but to share my terrible and frankly bad business experience. I signed up with a monthly membership with massage envy. After signing up and not having high quality massage experiences, I wanted to cancel my membership. I was told by management that I could not cancel this membership, but that I could pay out IN FULL the membership and then cancel. This is just preposterous to me. This last year I have had so much difficulty scheduling an appointment, that I have pretty much given up. It has come up in conversation with my own clients that they were members as well and couldn’t get an appointment for months. You would think given the change in businesses due to the pandemic, that these memberships wouldn’t be so rigid. I was told that I signed a contract and that I could not get out of the contract. This just seems like really bad business. Especially considering that businesses are failing, people are making less money, and a self-care practice like bodywork just shouldn’t be this much of a hassle. I would say buyer beware in regards to signing up for a monthly membership here.

They con you into a cheap rate initially,but then they keep raising the rate. Suzzette, one of the managers there made me feel uncomfortable. They were rude and started yelling at me when I questioned why they texted me a rate of $70 but then charged me $84. She was very unprofessional, considering I had been going to this place for years. Then she lied and said she worked there for over 10 yrs.. Which is not true. I canceled my membership. The mall does better massages.

The one and only bad thing I can say about Massage Envy is their turn around rate for their masseuses. Every time I feel like I’ve found “the one”, their gone a few weeks later….then it’s back to square one. If they could manage to keep a steady solid crew, they’d have 5 stars from me.

I have a monthly membership and love coming here for self care. The therapists are always so nice and great at what they do. Yesterday I had a male therapist for my first time. I had a always booked female therapists thinking that as a woman I’d be more comfortable with them but Eben was absolutely wonderful! I couldn’t have felt more comfortable or had a better experience. I had a great conversation and great massage. I absolutely recommend Eben and look forward to booking more appointments with him.

Had a wonderful time getting facials with my grandmother and mom! Made appointments for mothers day for the bogo, had to reschedule twice and still was able to get the sale. Maryanne was so gentle, atmosphere was very welcoming and calming but bright! Thank you!!

Would give zero stars if possible. This Massage Envy is managed poorly and should be investigated by corporate. Scheduled an appointment online and received a phone call 20 min later claiming someone took my time slot, “sorry.” I wasn’t even offered another appointment as their online booking system doesn’t coordinate with their phone bookings. Absolutely unacceptable. Do no go to this Massage Envy!

Good communication thru text appointment reminders. Massage by Margaret yesterday was awesome as usual. She is personable and professional and always uses the right pressure to get the tough knots out yet very relaxing! Always enjoyable!

I have been seeing Julia for facials and chemical peels for the last 8 months and it has truly been life changing for my skin.Julia is amazing and always gives me top quality service! Shes always so nice and willing to answer any and all questions I have about my skin. And as an esthetician she has helped me build an amazing at home system that has made a world of difference for me.Because of Julia the acne from wearing my mask at work has all disappeared! I would highly recommend Julia to anyone, whether just a one time facial or to help with larger issues.

Julia was fantastic. She explained everything about each process of my microderm facial so that I was aware of what was happening. Had absolutely no issues/reactions with the products she used.

Massage Envy is in a great location. Wonderful, relaxing atmosphere with friendly, qualified staff! Michael and Eben listen to what I need worked on and adapt their plans for our sessions accordingly. Suzette and her staff respond to any concerns quickly and efficiently! The membership makes frequent massages very affordable!

I cannot wait to see Julia. She is a gift!

Marianne is a wonderful esthetician! I have received two chemical peels from her so far. She is so knowledgeable and professional. As a product junkie, I have so many questions about products and she really knows her stuff. If you’re looking for any facial service, you will be thrilled with her.

While it’s difficult to get an appointment recently (labor shortage I assume), I try to book my sessions far in advance. I usually try to see Margaret who is a miracle worker. She’s fantastic and very intuitive to where my trigger spots are. The team at the So Portland location is friendly and very helpful.

Margaret is, as always, phenomenal at knowing the right pressure and the right spots to work. I always leave more relaxed with my knots having been worked out. She is intuitive in her method but consistently asks for feedback to ensure you are getting the best experience.

Victor is one of the best massage therapists Ive ever experienced. Too bad hes leaving Massage Envy, but happy for him that hes pursuing his college degree. They are professional here and its very clean. I like going here- very relaxing..I look forward to my monthly massage!

Mary was not overly chatty but very helpful with my foot issues. Glad she had the experience to help me out with it. Nice lady and probably listened to more of me than she wanted to. Lol.

2023: Margaret always has the room and table expertly prepared for my preferences - helps me fully relax and get the most out of each session. She uses firm but not excessive pressure, so I feel a lot better at the end but don’t have to ‘survive’ a too firm massage, which I don’t enjoy. Definitely recommend Margaret!2021: Ryan, my therapist, noted that my left scapula, trapezoid and related muscles were pulled more than 1 out of their normal location. He discovered effects of my recently dislocated shoulder which the orthopedic surgeon and therapists had not diagnosed. At my next appt., my physical therapist commended Ryan for his thorough knowledge of physiology, ability to reduce my pain and increase my range of motion. Im truly grateful to him!!

I’ve been going to Massage Envy for almost two years now. It took me a few tries to find the therapist I wanted, but I finally found them. Kerry has been so amazing over the past few years in creating a plan specific to my needs. I always walk away feeling relaxed, loose, and generally awesome. 10/10 would recommend.

I have been a Massage Envy customer for more than 6 months. The entire operation from support staff to providers is wonderful and professional. I had multiple massage therapist and all were really good; however, Dawson is exceptional.

Such a sparkling clean environment! Great care with covid precautions, social distancing, pre-screening, large air purifiers in all the treatment rooms. Wonderfully friendly and professional front desk staff! All of the therapists I have seen are very therapeutic and relive all tension and pain. I saw Eben yesterday, I have greatly improved range of motion and today I’m pain free. I’m thankful for such knowledge therapists that care. It’s a very busy location and I attribute that to the top notch care and professionalism.

Caren is the best. She really knows how to target all my problem areas for maximum relaxation and long lasting relief. I felt like a happy puddle all evening afterward, and the intense muscle tension and pain Ive been carrying around for weeks has been dramatically reduced. A great experience all around. I appreciate the office precautions and the high quality air filtration units in the room too.

I usually go for pretty hard core, deep tissue massages. Margaret does not do deep tissue, but her massage was amazing. She zeroed in on all my hot spots and really worked out the kinks. Her technique is top notch. I will definitely be using her services again.

Julia is such a vibrant human being. She cares deeply and you connect on a soul level when receiving services from her. This is far more than a standard service.

Its always a great experience here. I highly recommend Theresa & Solanlly. Both women are extremely attentive to my requests and needs. I ask for a firmer pressure with certain spots to go lighter for a relaxing aspect (face/head), and they both are amazing at providing a great massage. Thank you!

I am a member with Massage Envy and have been for 2+ years. A friend of mine encouraged me to get the membership and it was hands down the best decision. I enjoy 60 minutes of a personalized massage every month. If I miss I month, I get two the next month.Warm atmosphere, quiet and relaxing. I have fallen asleep many times! All the therapists are welcoming and encourage you to give feedback. I often book with less than 24 hours notice and am always able to get an appointment!

I haven’t yet had my massage, so I can’t speak to the quality of the visit yet. But what I can say is that Sydney, the woman I spoke with at the front desk, is wonderful at her job. She was able to build a casual conversation with me without losing track of setting up the appointment, didn’t oversell the product or memberships, effectively walked me through the process and gave me all the information I needed: exactly how the membership works, including the rollover massage if you don’t come in on a month, how cancelations worked; how she would schedule my massage and who with and why. Very friendly without seeming forced. Definitely recommend speaking to her if you’re a newcomer and want some information about the process. Looking forward to my first visit later this month!

In the past i have had amazing therapist here and i never complain but yesterdays experience was not good at all. My therapist never checked in i had to ask for more pressure, i get deep tissue, and i was lightly fluffed the entire time. I am a massage therapist as well so the entire session was a disappointment.

Andrew is great as he always is! He is professional and easy to talk to. I have been seeing him for about 4 years now! And have been a member for 11 years.On my 9/6 appt I called to indicate I was running a few minutes behind. The diva that answered the phone (I didn’t catch his name) was slightly rude. He asked how late I would be, and I said I am very close, just a few minutes. “Well if you’re too late we can’t see you”, he said to me. When I said, “oh, okay - but it’s a 90 minute appt.” He said “I realize that”. I didn’t appreciate the condescending tone, and when I walked in (4 minutes late) for my appt, he presented himself equally as rude. From what I understand, Massage Envy doesn’t have an actual policy in place that if you are late you can’t be seen. I had never heard that before. If I were even 45 minutes late for a 90 minute session that has already been paid for, that’s on me. But I would still expect an abbreviated session. Please correct me if I am wrong. All that being said, attitudes as such do not belong in a place where you go to relax and de-stress. It needs to be addressed.I will also add, that when I checked out after my session, the poor girl at the desk was alone, and overwhelmed by call after call, and took her a few minutes to even get to me. She had to keep putting calls on hold. Then after I was all checked out, I started asking a question about a product as the phone rang again. She was clearly way too busy for my question, so I left.

I have never had a bad experience at the South Portland location. Whether Im in for a facial service or a massage Sean is always knowledgeable, friendly, and makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. The staff out front are always helpful and kind, even when appointments are hard to get, they work with you to find an alternate provider if needed.

Delee is amazing. Very professional and listened closely to my needs prior to the massage. I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep! 10/10 would recommend booking with her!!

I always have such a relaxing and nourishing experience at Massage Envy with Julia. Her attentiveness to the experience being all that I need it to be is superb!

Wonderful two hours in Julie was terrific.

I’ve worked with Shawn twice and both times he’s been able to provide relief of the chronic pain I experience in my low back and hips. Definitely an intuitive therapist. I would highly recommend him!

I have been coming here for over almost two years and I will continue to stay loyal. I was hesitant at first because I am not too fond of chains but the staff here has been more than accommodating and extremely friendly. They know me by name and they never let me forget it. They are always asking me how I am doing or mention if it has been awhile since they have seen me. Also, I have a handful of employees that I continue to come back and see who provide exceptional service. I am beyond grateful for this establishment.

Julia is so knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. She talks if you want to talk and stays quiet when you just want to enjoy pampering yourself. My 2nd facial with her. Thank you Julia. The facial with the light is awesome.

Went in for a therapeutic massage, by the end of it I had no more pain in my shoulder at all. Dawson made sure to check in with me threw out the session, all in all no complaints. Was a good session.

They r very thorough and they take thier time explaining what they will do. I had a 90 minute session and they worked on me the whole time. I am 67 and when they was done I felt like 40 again. The place is very cleanThey go strictly by the CDC protocols. The lady that gave me the message was excellent and her name is Margaret.

Wonderful experience at the south portland ME, as a recent transplant from the Boston area, I was thrilled with the treatment I received. Mary is a wonderful provider and I left feeling much better than when I went in! Looking forward to many future visits!

This review is not a 1 because the staff really are excellent. Ive always enjoyed my massage and counter service, though the corporation has a lot of turn over in workers. However, I have been very frustrated by how often there have been mistakes, in my account since Ive ended my membership. I have been charged twice for two months after I cancelled. Each time I had to contest it and insist it got corrected. Not relaxing! Much better to have a relationship with an individual therapist.

Kerry did an excellent job. I hadn’t seen her before so she asked as she went along to be sure I was getting the massage I needed. My muscles get tight and it takes a lot to loosen them. I left feeling looser and relaxed. Thanks Kerry.

Ive seen Ryan twice now and I would highly recommend! He is pretty heavy-handed with his pressure but thats what I was looking for, also hes not a monster and can ease up when asked. The facility itself is very calming and clean. Alex at the front desk is friendly and chipper, and Sydney has always been pleasant over the phone. I would love to become a member but Im fairly broke, although I dont think their member price is outrageous by any means. Ill probably be back... sooner than later.

I love Massage Envy, kind helpful massage therapists, managers and owners, healing one person at a time through technique and care.I have a better life because of my mobility and fitness and a lot of it had to do with the assistance of these wonderful people.I am so grateful.

Deanna gave one of the best massages Ive ever had. I splurged for a 90 minute and it was worth it!! My shoulders are a mess but she really focused on all the areas that needed work and I left feeling amazing.

See also the recent review from reviewer Ford Focus. The manager, Suzette Harvey, has been rude, belligerent, and abusive. I brought her behavior up to the franchise owner as I believed he ought to know. But it appears poor customer service apparently flows from him—he as well is belligerent, rude, and unaccommodating. I am uncomfortable going there to use the $840 in credits I have; I am constructively prevented from using them by the horrible customer service. I ask anyone who had similar experiences—especially with regard to management—to reach out to me. I’d like to get your statement for court.

Josh is amazing! He is an absolute professional who treats you like family. He puts you at ease immediately with his jovial nature. He manages to find that one spot that is bothering and work it out. He treats you as a whole person with kindness and compassion. What a gem!

Friendly staff. Plenty of information provided, but was a little disorganized in that presentation. Victor was awesome; very professional and personable. Did exactly what I needed and accommodated an injury without any trouble. Highly recommend. I signed up for a membership, so there you go.

July 23 2021, the fingers in my left hand went numb. Went to sleep and never really woke up. I had been to the Dr about it a couple of time with no answers. During my massage with Mary she maniplate my shoulders to loosen up some tension. One of the moves she did caused something to snap in the back of my upper arm. The feeling returned to my fingers! Mary was great.The reason for the 4 star rating and not 5 is because of the membership program. Due to covid we built up a bunch of services and they are very hard to use.

Im sometimes mystified at how horrible a chain biz can be run where Mgmt positions are filled with staff members that possess such poor professional skills and resolution. Before Covid began I shut down my mos auto-charged mbsp because the Therapist I was using moved on. This location has a horrible time keeping Therapists employed. Unfortunately for me I use my cc for ample spending ea year so dont always catch everything. Many mos later I noticed they were continuing to bill. Once I got Suzette on the phone to discuss I informed her which staff member I spoke with to cancel. I had recollected her b/c I had dealt with her so often and she was in fact professional. That staff member was no longer employed there. It got me nowhere and they took zero responsibility. Covid effected business financials and cash flow. From that point on no matter how hard I tried I could not get in front of Suzette or get her to return a call. Once this location opened back up I called to get Suzettes schedule so I was sure to stop by in person during said shift. Suzette would not come out from the back office to see me face-to-face. She did put Petra on the phone with me to discuss the fact that they would not reverse any of the charges. Petra stammered through explanation but could never once tell me why Suzette would not talk to me. You could easily tell she was not equipped with any sort of justifiable claim as to why this nonsense was occurring. It became obvious it was amateur hour at Massage Envy. I was at approximately $700 charged up. Whats even worse is that they said I had to use them by the end of the year. After ample drama and contention I was told they could be pushed forward another year. What a pain. At this point the last thing I wanted to do was continue going to them to use the amount on file. Experiences like this can be very frustrating. Finally I realized I better use up the services so I qualified my expectations at the front desk and was given a Therapist who was very good. I scheduled with her 3-4 times in hopes of using my balance vs losing it. I tipped her well and she was very pleasant. My last visit there resulted in a front desk clerk who would not open the door. Covid has restrictions and I was standing outside for 10 min. before shed opened the door. She was curt and rude so I reminded her of my issue pertaining to the above and that I wouldnt even be using this establishment if it wasnt for the balance which Massage Envy evidently cannot afford to refund. Heres the final rub. When I returned from FL, where I spend most of my Winter, I proceeded to schedule another appt. with the Therapist I had used those 3-4 times. Suzette called me back to tell me that Therapist was no longer comfortable working with me. My jaw dropped. I couldnt recollect a single exchange what would put a female Therapist in that position. ZERO substantiation was offered. I then said, well how about the Therapist who the desk told me has returned to your staff - the one whos departure led to me canceling my mbsp which you would never refund? Suzette told me she wasnt comfortable working with me either. I find this VERY hard to believe because I hadnt seen her in about 18 mos. If that was the case why wouldnt she have said that over a year prior. Something smells dirty here. During my tenure at Massage Envy I had used many Therapists and none of them said they were uncomfortable working with me. Then it hit me. There was more going on here than being said incl how poorly I was handled at the front door at the last appt a month prior. This returning Therapist who *suddenly* is hoping on this uncomfortable bandwagon was surely positioned there by other influences. I had seen her MANY times and I had never once received any sort of reception like that from her comfort of myself as a client. I would never in a 5 lifetimes EVER use this shady, unprofessional, non-communicative, unable to take responsibility, amateur hour of a business. This experience was almost hard to fathom having ever happened...

Fast and easy checkin. Eliza gives an amazing microdermabrasion facial. She takes her time and makes sure her client is comfortable and relaxed. My face felt smooth and looked bright. I love the products she recommended.

. Caren is my regular therapist and my husband and I usually see her. However we have had difficulty booking her in advance recently. When we try to book ahead we are told she is either not available or massage envy is not book that far ahead yet. This is disturbing as I have been a regular of her for many years. Is there a way I can book her on a regular basis each month in the future. I was unable to get her for November and December when I was in on august 12 and was told I couldn’t book for January. This is unacceptable

I visited Massage Envy in South Portland last night with my mom to get massages and it was such a relaxing experience!! Margaret did my massage and it was extremely relaxing and exactly what I needed!! Communication was really good and I felt amazing afterwards! Would get another massage from her at Massage Envy again!

Julia did a great job and made me feel very comfortable. She also offered some helpful skincare suggestions. I’ll definitely be back.

Julia kept to her promise, she gave me my confidence back . My face was in a deplorable condition after stress pimples and change of climate messed my face up, she worked with me and told me the steps to take, I followed them , now I am in awe with my beautiful face. Thanks to Julia, I give her a 5 across the board.

I have been several times to the South Portland location and have been happy with every visit. I prefer the deep tissue massages and every masseuse has been able to do that. I have found a favorite from my most recent visit and will continue to request him.

I would rate higher if the policies weren’t so negative for members because there are some great therapists but if you make an error they charge you regardless if it’s the first in years of being loyal customers! However if they just forget to save 5 months worth of appts and you call to verify, they say oh no it must not have saved, then change policy that you can’t have the 90 min service you already had made appts for because they have too many members! Very poooor policy. No, hey lets make this up and give you the hour we took when you messed up just sorry we can’t do anything! I even kept going back after a customer caused most of the sp police to show up after having a break in the room next to me!

Sara is an incredibly detailed and effective massage therapist. Im usually done by the end of a 90 minute session but I could easily have done another hour with her. A strong asset to the team.

I am in a great deal of pain due to muscle tension from a severe panic attack that I had a day before booking my appointment. I was nearly at the parking lot when they called me and said they double booked and had to cancel. my appointment. This was less than 15 minutes before the appointment was supposed to begin

The massage was very relaxing and the therapist was very good. With enough pressure but not too much.

I did intend to write a longer review, but was posted out somehow. (?)Anyways, I recently had my first 2021 massage at the spa in South Portland, Maine and it was wonderful! My therapist this time was Gerilee, whom I had never met before. (Often when available, Mary Lemure is my person.) Being a snowbird, half the year I am in Maine; the other in Florida. I have been a M E member for 8 years. Gerilee was a true professional, who administered the massage I needed. She listened to my needs. She moved every muscle/tendon in my hands and feet, where so many spend little time. The massage was for 90 minutes and I left a new woman! Now to mention the stores cleanliness and the protocol-following of COVID: Upon entering, ALL had to mask and stay masked; each client had a temperature check; clients had to wait outside until allowed in to keep social distancing; the spa was IMMACULATE! Thus,Massage Envy in South Portland is the best in all respects.

Bought a membership because my occupation kills my body! I came to learn how to maintaining healthy muscles. If you decide to go for relaxation or like me to relive muscle tension it’s perfect! I saw Jessica or when I called they said “Jessie” she told me exactly where my problem areas are and gave me some at home stretches to do! She also put meOn a scheduled plan to feel better and a plan to maintain!I do wish I was offered a card for reminder or a call or text to remind me of my appointments. I showedUp one day was apparently a “day” late. Other than booking I’m. Wet happy 😊

Maryann is the best! I’ve been seeing her for a few months for facials. My post-holiday skins was red, broken out, and just a mess. In one hour she worked magic on me.

Several years member with terrible treatment by new staff. Said they wont cancel my membership so Im cancelling my credit card so they cant keep charging with out providing the service I paid for. This is the McDonalds of massage lol

The entire staff was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I went in for the introductory special which is an hour massage for only $39.99, which is about half what one would typically pay at a day spa. Most day spas hours are very inconvenient for a working professional (a lot close by 7pm.) I usually spend over $80 at various hotels and spas but my first experience with Chelsea as my therapist at ME in S. Portland was the best by far. The staff did explain the process to me before meeting my therapist and offered me water or tea and a warm neck wrap (which was great on the cold night.) The membership program was explained to me as well but I did not feel bombarded or pressured to join, just informed. Massage Envy in S. Portland provided a professional, comfortable atmosphere, a skilled therapist and helpful staff all around. I highly recommend giving ME a try.

I booked a massage about a month ago and I called today to confirm the appointment but they never even booked it in the first place. I would highly recommend going to any other place because they do not know how to train their employees to actually input the appointment on their schedule. On top of that they are booking out a more than a month so I cannot even get in to see anyone and they will not make it right.

I’ve seen Deanna (Delie) a few times now and she is fantastic, she communicates well, does exactly what I need as far as pressure, and focusing on my upper body problems. I continue to see her every time I go!

Pretty disappointed with my 90 minute massage. My massage therapist let me know that my back was likely “too inflamed” to massage and proceeded to lightly stroke my legs and arms for 90 minutes instead. I appreciate her not wanting to further injure me but looking back, I should have probably just asked to stop the massage. I left just as sore and unrelaxed as when I first walked in.

Discriminated against mental health disability my severe social anxiety and panic disorder. I was already nervous to go so I was stuttering and making awkward but pretty average small talk with everyone who talked to me. After I was undressed waiting for the massage therapist I think Rebecca which she seemed nice i thought. But the Manger opened the door and demanded me to leave immediately because I was under the influence of something. I was shocked and was so confused I thought it was a joke but she said a second time for me to leave. I was completely sober no drugs no alcohol at all . Iwas asking why they were making this accusation and kicking me out. They said that I was scrambling with my words and was walking weird ( my leg muscles were in pain from exercise) I was already nervous and filled with anxiety and they made everything worse the Manger talked or I guess talked down to me and embarrassed Me outside in front of people I asked just because the massage therapist made a judgment on me theyre kicking me out and she said yes. And continued with her explaining how its unsafe for employees to be around somebody on under the influence and talked about how they truly believed i was messed up and I believe she just wanted to justify in front of people who where by sanders outside, that she was right and to embarrassed Me by making it look like I was some drugee. I cried historically even shaking and hyperventilating so I ran to my car. The Manger was blonde middle-aged sue or Susan or something still in shock till this day and wonder why or what I did to make them think that

I had a facial with Eliza and it was fantastic! She listened to my skin concerns and goals, using products that would work the best for my skin type. 10/10!

I wish I could give negative reviews. This is the 3rd time this year they have cancelled my appointment. This time they cancelled it 12 minutes before the appointment because “they decided to close early.” It takes 6 weeks to get into the masseuse I like. I will be cancelling my membership even though I have 3 credits left and will lose them when I do. Think twice before joining this location.

Went in with tight shoulders and limited range of motion in my neck. Left relaxed and able to turn my neck to look over my shoulder. Mary did an unbelievable job!

Margaret listened to what my issues were and addressed them! Perfect combination of deep tissue to help my problems as well as lighter work for relaxation!

I have not have a bad experience at Massage Envy in South Portland. Had a great experience with Julia. She was professional.

Unhappy with response to concerns about pandemic. Freeze your account for a maximum of 6 months or terminate and you get limited time to use your remaining passes or lose them. Had 12 months of prepaid sessions and they would not waiver on their policy. Wont do business here again and wouldnt recommend them to anyone else.

I come in with tender spots that I’m aware of that need attention and ultimately discovered there were more areas needing attention. Andrew was wonderful in finding these “soft spots”.

Just had a 90 minute massage from a massage therapist named Michael and it was amazing, he’s such a good listener, very considerate and respectful.

High quality. All you’d want in a professional massage but you have to be sure to communicate what you want and let your provider know during the massage.
