Played here 2 times. Both times I had a great time. Course was in great shape. Couple quirky holes but fun. If you are looking to play I would highly recommend. Friendly staff and the food at the clubhouse which was lasagna was pretty good. All around 5 stars. I will play this course again.

This place is beautiful. The views are gorgeous. The food is fabulous (if a bit pricey, but its a resort, so thats to be expected). The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. The only thing keeping this resort from getting a five star rating from me is the toilet paper. Hear me out. Its cheap toilet paper that disintegrates when it comes into contact with fluids. It disintegrates while being used, if you get my drift. Obviously, a man handles this aspect of resort management. A woman would never choose this toilet paper, given how we use it.

Spent a long weekend at Alderbrook and had a blast! The property is beautiful, the rooms were clean, and we had a great time. Evenings were spent around the outdoor fire pit roasting smores, and mornings were out walking the beach during low tide. Highlight was definitely doing the 90min hood cannel boat cruise on Lady Alderbrook. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Beautiful resort with wonderful amenities located on the hood canal. We loved the pool/hot tub, the little events they had on site such as beer/wine tasting, resident cats, camp fire and more. One big challenge which was not resolved was the location of our cottage. It was never quiet or private as there were workers (staff as well as maintenance), neighbors partying late or who had dogs and then the parking lot which peered right into our rooms. If you have a baby or little one with you be prepared to have them awakened or startled. Particularly number 11. Hope to have a better stay next time.

Gorgeous spot on the Hood Canal with a fine-dining restaurant that is worth the splurge. Great getaway from Seattle for this family with a young child. The beautiful hiking trails, pool, beach, dock, and resident cats gave us plenty to do without needing to leave the property. I just wish that the Patio restaurant had healthier fare.

Alderwood is an older resort. It was built during a time when people were smaller. The nostalgic architecture is amazing! Natural and man-made sound is used to create privacy in every nook and cranny. From the Forrest to the dock are paths to explore. There are balconies with chairs or lounge chairs on the lawn to enjoy the fresh air any time of the day.The employees are full of smiles and go over the top to serve. They spend time to listen and are quick to resolve any inconsistencies. Then theres the resort style food, bar service, gift shop, lots of parking, and handicap accommodation! My goodness! So many nicely designed considerations for the guests. Just come, give up your everyday stresses, and restore your bones by the water!

Alderbrook is beautiful! Every staff member was helpful and attentive (especially in the restaurant). The amenities are great and the hiking trails across the street are such an amazing experience. We moved to Olympia 3 years ago to be closer to our Grandchildren and had heard about Alderbrook, so we made a day trip there. The resort is spectacular. It is located on the water and has a great view of the Olympic Mountains. The buildings are beautiful and there are a ton of activities for all ages. The lodging is expensive, but the food and drinks seemed reasonable. We have a significant wedding anniversary approaching in a few months and plan on staying there for it.

I was only there for one night, so I knew I wasnt going to be able to take advantage of most of the amenities. I just wanted a nice room and good service. The room was quite dirty - to the point I didnt want to walk around barefoot. It would be inexcusable at any price point, but at $325 I was particularly disappointed. I was prepared to be honest about my experience at checkout, but no one asked. I responded to the survey a few days later, but no one ever reached out. This felt consistent with the service I experienced - theyd give the spiel and go through the motions, but thats it.

Everything was great we came for the fireworks besides a black SUV that was driving through the lodge. I don’t understand why were there was so many people walking everywhere. He backed up and hit my son, and I tried to tell him that he hit my son he rolled up the window. I tried to talk to, the people at the front desk they were ignoring me. I found two blonde ladies walking that worked there. They ignored me and laughed at me. I think it’s horrible. What happened and nobody would help me we planned on staying, but we will never be back everyone was so rude to us and wouldn’t help us.

Great hikes right across the hiway. Clean and quiet. Terribly overpriced, especially the restaurant. We paid $5.00 PER oyster for a dozen! The menu was deceptive in quoting the price. Beware! Ive been coming to Alderbrook annually, off and on, for 20+ years. A work conference is held there without fail because of the quality of this resort. Weve really outgrown the facility but are willing to change things up to make our growing numbers work, here. Unlike many places, this resort is constantly maintaining and upgrading its facilities. The location is great with beautiful views, and a family friendly lodge atmosphere where you can relax and de-stress. Definitely worth consideration. I know Ill be back.

Normally, when I go to Alderbrook, they provide excellent service and comforts worthy of the high price. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was awful. A friend and I attended an event at the resort and decided to stay the night. The listed amenities were influential in our decision; a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and pool sound like a great ending to our evening to relax before bed. The hot tub was cold, and in repair, the steam room didnt work and smelled like mold. There was no improvement the next day.The event we attended, although it was nice, did not clearly state the FULL price up front, and was not a value at $150/per person. The wine pairing came from the bar and didnt help keep us warm while outside in February.I will not return to this place until they clean up their act AND their amenities. Too bad, Alderbrook, Ill miss the good times.

In June 1970, we wanted to stay here on our honeymoon; unfortunately, we could not get reservations. We tried several times since, but somehow, plans always fell through. 54 years later we finally made it as our friends included us in their wedding celebration. We had a beautiful room with a view of the grounds and waterfront. The room itself was wonderful, there was nothing lacking, the decor was quietly themed and accomodations and amenities satisfied our every need. One of our favorite spots was the lobby. I am hoping we dont have to wait 54 years to stay here again.

Absolutely wonderful experience at Alderbrook. The room was beautiful, with so many thoughtful touches and attention to detail. We brought our two dogs and found it to be the best place to stay with them. We had a door from our room that went out to an enchanting courtyard where we could walk them whenever we wanted to. The grounds and all the properties are so well kept and inviting. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. We ordered room service from the restaurant each night and the food was a highlight. Perfectly prepared and exquisitely plated, every dish was delicious and beyond our expectations. Food is incredibly underwhelming and over priced, service was slow and they werent busy, waited nearly 10 minutes for someone to greet us and fill up water glasses. Keep in mind patio service and patio food menu is only available on the weekends. There was no drink menu provided, so no beer and wine list or anything else, server seemed annoyed we even asked about drinks. Kids burger was overcooked and the adult burger was the exact same size as the kids burger, seriously we just had a better meal at Red Robin for half the price! Salad is not chopped or cut at all so you get giant pieces of lettuce and veggies that are really awkward to eat unless youre cutting everything with a knife, it was a lovely presentation but not practical.Server was quick to bring us a bill when she noticed a card on the table but didnt offer a box or anything else when we clearly had food left over. Gratuity is already built-in the check, which I understand but it is clearly a factor in why service is mediocre, there is no incentive to work for a tip when your establishment is already including it.We wont be back, theres plenty of other dining options in Shelton, Belfair, Hoodsport and the surrounding area with equal views, better service and food.

My previous review was deleted, but resubmitting as we had a rough experience here. My wife left a purse by their firepit, it was found and turned in to the front desk, they locked it in a safe, we asked if anybody had turned in a purse multiple times, they said no, we cancelled multiple credit cards, then two days after our trip, they opened the safe, found her purse, and charged us to ship it back. I love Alderbrook so much. They have held a special place in my heart for almost 15 years. The last few years things have changed. The rooms are not nearly as clean as they use to be, even though the head of housekeeping seems like she wants them to be- she’s nice and attentive, but the cleaning staff must be overworked, understaffed and very rushed. The bathroom smelled so bad last time. At the very least the toilets should be clean- ours still had urine and hair around the base and the shower curtain was so sour. The blankets and pillows (the ones on the window and on top of the bed) are not as clean and fresh. Disinfecting doesn’t seem a priority anymore- maybe as a society we’re simply over being cautious, but hotels should still be. We actually got strep throat after staying- which could’ve been from the room, or another guest in the lobby in passing….?The pool area didn’t receive any updates from the renovation, and the front desk staff and reception isn’t as warm and caring. Although the valet guys are always really welcoming. The restaurant service however was phenomenal. Although I have to say the prices are steep, the food quality is pretty good. And the awesome service and atmosphere are very lovely. We still love it here and return, I’m honestly just sad when we are so needing a break and want to come and relax, that I’m not as comfortable there (because of the rooms) or feel as excited to have an escape. Over 15 years we’ve probably stayed here around 15+ times and it’s been the last 3 stays consistently that have been downhill (2021-2023).

Great place to relax for the weekend, the Spa is amazing and the nearby hiking trails were beautiful. The only significant detractor from an otherwise upscale resort is the restaurant food is sub-par for high-end resort. Staying at the resort there are not many other food options available so we ate at the restaurant for every meal. Even simple dishes such as a Caesar salad with salmon tasted not quite right. I would have given the resort five stars if the restaurant quality was better.

Had a wonderful experience on a girls trip this past weekend! Alderbrook is a hidden gem! So many things about the experience made it great! I love animals so we were delighted to see adorable Alder and Brook (the cats) resting peacefully in the hotel lobby or cruising around. I love how they are apart of the hotels personality. The cute alder and brook coasters in the room! A beautiful keep sake! I love this place is pet friendly although I wasn’t able to bring my dog. David at the front desk was so helpful to us and so accommodating! We asked him a few times for things we needed and he was most helpful! Shout out to David! The rooms were beautiful, spacious and SO comfortable! I love the gorgeous greenery and the beautiful waterfall/fountain that’s central to all the rooms. There is also a comfy swing by it as well. I found so many nice touches on the property that made it so special!! We really enjoyed the pool during adult swim in the evening. It’s so well maintained and warm! So beautiful that it’s in a green house with greenery growing. The sauna was super nice too as well as the hot tub! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained! Had a nice time strolling around. Also nice hike right across the road in a gorgeous forest! We’d of loved to stay longer if we could have! We went for dinner and drinks at the restaurant. The food was quite good. I had the salmon. I did find the portion quite small for being over $30. It was a piece of fish and some veggies. The cocktails were tasty but lacked finishing touches like a garnish or something to make it look nice. The server we had was great tho!We had breakfast and coffee at the cafe of the lobby in the morning. Great service there and great breakfast and drinks options! We had warmed up pull apart cheesy bread and a berry pie type thing. Also a side note, the gift shop was nice and had some good quality items rather than cheap stuff like you might usually find.Overall a great experience at the Alderbrook resort! Unfortunately we were not impressed, at all. We stayed in a cabin which was only decently maintained. Attic access was open, light bulbs were out, fridge was very old and noisy, it was musty/dusty. Once we got by the dirtiness, the lounge area was great, nice people good service. The restaurant was horrible, poor service, cold food and even poorer attitudes. We were tempted to leave without ordering, and wish we had. When approached by the manager he was condescending and quite rude. We actually felt very uncomfortable and the others in our group were insulted. The cabin rotunda was loud into the night with party goers. Overall a poor experience and we wont return or refer others. If you like overpaying for bad food, service and accommodations then this is the place for you. Most everyone was super welcoming and helpful as well as accommodating. We did have a few interactions that left us disappointed. Being told that the chef “is on one today” after waiting over an hour and a half for a chicken wrap, sliders and fish tacos was unfortunate. Having to still pay over $50 after a 20% discount on such simple food that took so long to get to us was frustrating. Hearing the chef and the server talk about us after the fact was the final nail in the coffin. For such a high class and highly expensive resort, we expected a higher level of service and professionalism. Our wedding services were good but were missing on a few basic details that stood out for the night. Things like missing bread and butter but having bread and butter knives on the table, being told that they were out of ingredients for a signature drink when they weren’t out, and lack of water service/pitchers of water on the table just as a few. We were also told we were not allowed to stake anything into the grounds (hoping to anchor an arch) as there is an intricate irrigation system in the lawn, which was fine, but then we watched the team set up croquet. Which included them shoving the arches into the ground for the game. If they knew where the irrigation system was located, we wished they would have helped us anchor the arch instead of telling us NOTHING can be pushed into the ground.Wedding was beautiful and everyone on the staff was super kind and gracious. Would return here happily.

My room was dirty and I might even describe it as gross. There was trash near my nightstand, garbage under the couch and the coffee pot as some sort of food chunks in the place where you add the coffee pod.It was also a bit frustrating to find the light switch under the breakfast counter. After spending 30 minutes in the dark looking for a light switch, I called the front desk who did not know. After finding the switch, I turned around to find the trash under the couch and then noticed the substance in the coffee machine. it was REALLY gross. After being completely grossed out, I started looking around and noticed the knives in the knife block were dirty and the silverware in the drawer looked like it had been used and put away dirty.I also didnt appreciate being checked in and them not offering me a bellman. When they gave me the map to find my room, I asked if there were any rooms closer to the parking lot because I had a sprained ankle that made it hard to walk. They told me there were no closer rooms and also failed to ask if I wanted a bellman to help me with my bags. (I actually didnt know there was a bellman until the next day when I was at the coffee shop). And I also find in sad that they never responded when I shared all of this in the survey they sent me two weeks ago. They must know there place is dirty or they simply dont care. Regardless, Im confident you can find a cleaner place to stay - somewhere else.

Alderbrook was the location of our daughters wedding weekend! We truly were SO impressed by not only the facility, but the staff that was unbelievably committed to making our guests experience amazing. Alderbrook is the best! Let me first say getting a reservation during the summer is very hard to get. This place is always booked but, if you’re looking for some adventure, just drive there and check out the grounds! It’s amazing! The are not shy at all for people just walking the grounds, eating at the resort and sitting on the lawn. Don’t be fearful like at some other places. The owner and staff are really friendly! The have a small patio for things like salads and fish tacos. They have a full dining room for sit down patrons and a bar for getting drinks. It’s not cheap here but check them out online and you’ll see why! It’s paradise. It’s actually beautiful anytime of year, the grounds are immaculate!

The service was over the top amazing from every employee there. The location and landscaping cant be beat. The food and craft cocktails -- all around outstanding. The only downsides are: please dont have a stand-alone loud A/C unit in the corner of the room. There really really needs to be central A/C and heating for $400 nightly rooms. And the toilet paper could be slightly upgraded - theirs was the paper-thin kind used by cheap janitorial companies. And the 18 percent required surcharge (passed along to dining customers) needs to disappear - Just raise the item prices. (?) Other than those issues, I may return to this resort for because of the location and food ... ?

We love Alderbrook Resort, and we return every year. We always rent a cabin because they have two rooms. Rooms are great, but even after all these years, I still have to get used to emptying the dishwasher myself upon arrival. The food at the restaurant is average, the service is great! Front Desk staff is definitely switched on and very informative, and so are the baristas! Hint: buy smores ahead of time and settle at one of the firepits while enjoying sunset. Amazing stay at the Alderbrook! Felt luxurious without being in your face about it. The grounds are stunning and it was so much fun being so close to the water and having access to water sports/equipment rental (kayak, paddleboard, etc). We even got to spot several seals with their pups early in the morning. We stayed at Alderbrook when it was supper sunny and hot, which was great for taking advantage of the beach (it was during a heatwave, but our room was equipped with a portable a/c unit which worked fine). I think they do a great job of catering to all - families, couples, and even business travelers (they have meeting rooms and I saw one taking place during my stay). They have fun activities planned throughout the day for all. The bed was a tad bit small but comfortable. The restaurant was really good, we had dinner there and really liked it. We only stayed one night and wish we could’ve stayed more but hotel was fully booked so make sure to book early! There are two resident cats in the lobby area, and surprisingly a bird nest in the hallway to our room too. There were so many areas to hang out across the resort that I really do wish we had more time.

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and available at every turn. The welcoming entrance, accentuated by a lovely fire place and warm furnishings, offered a wonderful start to the weekend. The well-stocked bar with unique liquors and local wines, the fabulous and efficient wait staff, and delicious menu items (suiting a variety of palates) added so much enjoyment to our stay. Unfortunately for us, Alderbrook was a disappointment at best. We love places “like” this, but did not love this place. Check in was lovely, and that’s where the positive experience ended.Lack of proper dishes (no bowls, 2 plates for the 5 of us to share). The shower ran out of hot water within minutes, and the handle was broken. Bent key that got stuck in the lock, room service tray that stayed next to our door for 2 days, dog smell on the blankets. Couldn’t open the bathroom door without moving the stools away from the countertop. Tv in the bedroom didn’t work at all, the one in the living room was spotty, and the guide did not match the channels. The layout of the cottage made no practical sense.Sunday brunch in the restaurant was awful. Coffee was disgusting, worst we’ve had in recent memory. None of the food was good. We had to wait to be seated despite having reservations, and even then were seated in the middle of the restaurant without the proper place settings. The vegetable scramble was a leathery slab of eggs with inconsistently cut raw vegetables on top, nothing seasoned except for the cup of ketchup on the plate.Listen. We really tried to like it here. I can look past the loud people after 10 pm, the uncomfortable furniture, even the wait to be seated while the host comes back from break. What I cannot get past is the poor overall experience of a place which wants the hype but lacks good care and comes with a super high unforgiving price tag.Instead of investing in gift shop tchotchkes, a focus on actual customer experience and care would serve them well. Customers should not have to check into an unvacuumed cottage with watery dishes in the dishwasher that we need to dry and unload. We should not have to put our toiletries on the floor of the showers, or bring our own washcloths or bowls or decent coffee. Alderbrook is clearly sitting on its laurels of a past decent reputation. For the price they need to reinvest in the property refinement and stop cutting corners.

This is the first time I have had less than a great experience at Alderbrook and gave the resort 3 stars. And, we have been coming here for over 30 years by boat or land. But then something amazing happened and I upgraded my review to 5 stars. Here is the story. I ordered fried oysters at the outdoor patio and they did not meet my expectations. I mentioned this to the lead person and he escalated the issue to the manager at the main restaurant. So the next day, we had lunch at the bar and not only was the food excellent but the service was very friendly and professional. We mentioned the oyster issue to our server. Later that evening we re-visited the bar for dinner (off the restaurant menu) and was greeted by the same server and she seated us at the same table. Then unexpectedly, the assistant restaurant manager visited our table and asked for me by name. He apologized for our issue and offered an array of fried and baked oysters. We accepted and they were awesome. There was a lot of activity going on behind the scenes to to right a wrong. Alderbrook no doubt deserves 5 stars. BTW, they did a complete remodel of the bar and restaurant and it is architecturally stunning. One final word! Nick at the marina, Brian at the outdoor food deck, Melissa our waitress at the bar and Brad the restaurant manager that evening were all beyond exceptional both for their technical skills but also their exceptional people skills. They are the best.

As customer service has noticeably declined at so many places the last few years, that is not the case here at Alderbrook Resort. Each time Ive been here, their service boasts consistent, on-point attendance to my experience, whether its my room stay, the spa, or the dining. During yesterdays brunch, the beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned smoked salmon Benedict with breakfast potatoes came quickly and hot. The Americano I ordered also came hot and tasted clean-I could tell their espresso machines are clean. They checked back several times during my meal and the pace between checking in and bringing/ clearing away dishes was perfect, to where I felt neither like I had to wait for anything nor rushed. Delightfully, without my asking, they turned on several outdoor heaters to make sure I was warm and comfortable at my outdoor dining table. Even the maintenance gentleman who passed through and attended to the heaters was pleasantly conversational. I absolutely will return soon. Again. For the ambience, tranquility of the location, and the excellence.

My wife and I try to visit Alderbrook Resort at least once a quarter, sometimes just for lunchtime or brunch, others for holiday events and overnight stays. The hiking trails are lovely, and there are always fruits/coffee/teas in the lobby, sometimes soft Jazz or Folk music performers, Anda scattering if fires for evenings or smores. Just 2 minutes away is a Mexican restaurant in Union; 20 minutes brings you to the eclectic shopping of Belfair where there are always things of interest and joy ...wine tasting, brewery, a mega-ACE McClendon hybrid hardware store with a variety of Hood Canal clothing, White Barn has floral, garden, and country store gifts with delicious frybread for sale outside. But the staff at Alderbrook Resort are just the best in caring for guests and visitors. Pup-friendly spaces, lots of Hood Canal water fun too.

A lovely little resort with beautiful walking trails in the rainforest, and view of the water. I’d rate it higher, but for a couple small things: the heating and cooling in the rooms is pretty antiquated, the elevator was messed up, the carts they use are very loud and can be heard in the rooms starting very early each day. Finally, they give you liquid body wash, but do not provide wash cloths, which I find weird.Again, a very enjoyable and lovely resort, but a little updating and thought could keep it very relevant.

Also there isn’t a enough seating in the garden area and in the high summer heat there should be more areas in shade …The food at the golf course is much better and half the price. The valet will drive you up.That said the surroundings and the trip down here via boat were highlights. The trip down passes Olympic National Forest / Mountains. From the water it reminded me of Jurassic Park as the forest and mountains rise dramatically from it and it’s wilderness from Emerald watersThe trip via boat was worth it. Earned the opportunity to go here to assist with recovery from surgery. Definitely a get away. Recently reopened from the pandemic, I could see some of the toll that has taken - but that is virtually every where, and Alderbrook is definitely rebounding quickly. Dining was good, with very attentive staff. The more front line the staff, the more attentive they appeared, showing the high standards Alderbrook strives to uphold. I highly recommend taking a stroll upon the grounds after enjoying a meal, whether just down the dock, around the courtyard, or even a trail. I dont think there is a bad view from any of the rooms. Highly enjoyed the saltwater pool facility. The pool is large enough and deep enough for those that are strong swimmers and enjoy not touching the bottom. The temperature was just right - not too cold and not chilly, which is amazing for salt water swimming. The hot tub was in working order and great for soaking or looking out onyo Hood Canal. Unfortunately, the steam room I was looking forward to was undergoing maintenance so I missed out on that. I did the sauna instead, which looks like guests before me have used it quite hard. The graffiti that people etched in with probably finger nails had been sanded, but my attentive eye caught it. All I could think was the saying Fools names and fools faces appear in public spaces.. Be sure to wear swimwear shoes of flip flop sandals for showering in the mens shower area because the fiberglass shower pan is cracked in three places, which makes avoiding that near impossible with my size 14 feet. So glad I had the shower shoes on my visit else I would have to fight my allergy to fiberglass contact. All soaps and lotions were the same across the facility, and it is quite concentrated, so half a pump is all I would need. I couldnt understand why people seemed to be so hard on these; from trying to take the pump apart to trying to get multiple full pumps with vigor or anger - just wasteful people I assume. A little goes a long, long ways. I also appreciated the hard work in keeping the rooms clean, and public areas, using high technology gear for sanitizing to tried and true low tech methods. My room did have a mini fridge, and I put my water bottle in it, but the fridge being in the cabinet, my water was warmer than when I put it in. This may have been a setting too, but fridges in built in cabinets is problematic. All in all, these are extremely minor things which surely they are aware and working on because this is a very well planned and thought out destination. I wish I had been able to save this trip for later in the year, such as the off season, and stayed multiple days instead of just one night. There is quite a bit to explore, lots to do, and definitely an unforgettable experience that has the charm and beauty of the Pacific Northwest. When I do get to go again, I will want to take an excursion on the Lady Alderbrook, and have time to unwind, enjoying the scenery no matter what time of year.

I received a great welcome gift as well.I do feel for the premium there are some major updates that should be made. I had a king suite with a water view and was surprised to see the tub and toilet were about 5 inches apart. Totally turned off by that. Also the furniture within common areas are a bit out of date and could be touched up (painting the walls and trim.)The restaurant food was ok. I feel the quality has gone down over the years. There is also a spa(which is currently under renovation) but offers almost all services. I got the Swedish massage done and it was one of the best Ive experienced so far. Ask for Paula! The pet friendly rooms are on the lowest floor and have direct access to the courtyard which is super convenient. There was a pet bed and two bowls ready for my dog which was super cute. There is plenty of outdoor seating, a restaurant and a cafe onsite. The best part of the property is a boardwalk out to Spencer Lake. Hood canal is super close as well. However, the only thing that was disappointing were the food options. There are roughly 3 options for vegans/vegetarians in that huge menu of theirs, one of which is a Caesar salad without the anchovy sauce. Doesnt feel great to check in to a place after a long day and not have enough food options to choose from. Also, I wouldnt want to eat a salad on vacation, would I :)? Grateful for the dessert options though! For their not-so-inexpensive price per night, this definitely should be something they reform.

The staff is nice and the resort itself is nice but there are much needed improvements that will make it a destination to be remembered. The Grand fireplace as you walk in entrance is a gas fireplace that doesnt give any heat no matter how close you sit. The room was nice other than the moldy grout in the bath/shower which needed to be a separate shower and bath( with spa jets in the tub). Our Christmas Eve dinner was very disappointing. The Clam Chowder was barely hot and came with a stale crouton on top. The bread for the table should be warm as well. The Oyster Rockefeller was tasty but the one was probably the smallest oyster in the sea. The Seared black Cod was burned on the skin side and not cooked through the filet and was cold. We had to send it back and taken off the check. The Chicken dish had no mushrooms as stated and no flavor. The gnocchi was obviously made with old potatoes I suppose but were dark brown and didnt taste very good at all.Brunch was OK with the Eggs Benedict that had flavorful hollandaise and yummy potatoes. The service was good compared to the server the night before. The dining room was not clean from the night before as I pulled my chair out there were lots of crumbs and all around the floor. The pool and hot tub look great and a nice exercise room is available too.Pet are welcome which is a plus.

After driving past this place several times, I finally stopped in for lunch. They were only open on the back lawn, but the view was pretty, so I thought it would be nice. I was a little put off at first because they require...and heavily enforce...mask wearing outside, even if nowhere close to other people. But ok, although it made no sense, we just went with it and tried to enjoy the view and lunch. To order, we had to go to the bar area and order from the counter. Our order was 2 burgers and 2 drinks. I was shocked, considering the burgers were $12 and $18, to be handed a bill for $70. The worst part was, they did not provide an itemized bill....just the copy to sign. Actually, no, that wasnt the worst part. The worst part was, they tried to hide the fact a high tip was included in the price. Nowhere was that advertised and at no time did the young lady inform me it was included. Im pretty sure that part is illegal. To further confuse, they had a cash tip jar sitting in front of the cash register. In afterthought, Im certain they were purposely trying to rip people off.It gets worse. We go find a table and get comfortable. About 10 minutes later we hear our name shouted from the bar. Now; explain to me why, after being forced to pay such an exorbitant tip, we had to go get our food from the bar? There was zero service. Not only could they not deliver the food to the table, they also had no one walking around offering drink refills or bussing the dirty plasticware. Did I mention it was all served in to-go containers? After seeing how chintzy this place was run, I decided Ill never return to this property. Too bad the service is so bad (thats actually very typical of the region), because the grounds are beautiful.

Review based mostly on their charter boat. The boat captain was very knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of cool history. And boat was very well maintained and beautiful. My wife and I had an amazing time and would definitely go again. We did walk through the resort to get to the boat and it is a gorgeous place.

We had a lovely time here. Staff and service were excellent. The outdoor space had several fires and heated areas. The restaurant was good, not the best food ever and overpriced, but consistent with what one might expect at a resort. Only complaint was the mattress was not great and there were no room darkening shades. With the outdoor lighting, our room was quite bright.

Stayed here in a corner suite for 4 nights during a wedding. Very nice rooms with good views of the water and docking area. Resort has a spa, indoor pool restaurant and bar also many areas with outdoor tables and chairs. Across the road are many trails for hiking and views of the area. Definitely a place to revisit.

First visit to Alderbrook resort. Me and a friend arrived at 7 pm for Thunder on the Canal. It was a breeze to get in at the gate and the layout of the event was well planned. The food and cocktails were excellent. We absolutely loved the band Oncre kept us dancing with good vibes. Our walk on the dock was fantastic, plenty of friendly folks moored and the views are stunning. The fireworks were well planned and the length of the show was perfect. I met so many new folks and a special person too. Overall it was a blast! I will be back to visit again.

Everything is done for the comfort of the guests using the resort. The person that I was staying with burned herself using the curling iron and the front desk did everything possible to help. The prices were a bit steep but the setting is worth the price.

Alderbrook is special. I know it only as a place where I had lunch with my aunt when visiting her in Tacoma. I imagine that staying there must be very enjoyable. Great architecture in a wonderful location. It was always worth the drive because there are not many places like this anywhere on the peninsula. Good food in a wonderful surrounding.

Id heard great things about Alderbrook but perhaps it was just getting over COVID. . .Our room was dated and both my husband and I had back aches from the bed. The SPA was the best feature. - could use more people. The food was amazing. -- so delicious. However, it was also very, very rich and plentiful.. On a stay over 2 nights, I would be looking for something else. How much rich food can you eat? The staff was universally friendly. Housekeeping was a bust. We had to ask 3 times to get our room done -- and it wasnt done well. A four star resort.

The magic that once was Awe-der-brook is definitely fading away! The staff is now sub par along with the food that once was our favorite guilty pleasure. The resort is in need of some TLC to bring her back to her old self! Its just not was it once was. I genuinely hope the figure it out soon as this is such a convenient and easy to get to place to stay in the area. Ironically they are still charging quite a premium price for everything. Just a suggestion....take some of that huge profit and reinvest!

The old growth trees, the water, and the frogs chirruping at night purifies ones soul to shed the cares of daily living. We love Alderbrook Resort! My husband and I started going here back in 2008, and my company now hosts our retreats here as well. Upscale, clean, beautiful, peaceful. What more could one want?A personal favorite is sitting on the deck, listening to the waterfall and the chirruping frogs below. Alderbrook is romantic and peaceful, and the staff are unobtrusive yet so helpful.

Service was non existent. Had to eat on deck because they were too busy inside ..Except that the bar dining was completely empty and Dining room only a 1/3.Ok to eat on deck. Menu severely limited there but food was good.18% Service Charge but no SERVICE. Had to order at cashier, get our own utensils, drinks & condiments while staff chatted amongst themselves. Would be understandable if they were busy at 4pm. but alas only 3 of 12 tables in use.Paying a Required 18% SEVICE Charge for very minimal service is Ridiculous.Suggest you go down the road for a better experience.Wont return as Mgmt was unconcerned.

Absolutely the best place to take your kids for a little get away. So much to do. The only complaint I have is how sweltering it is in the building that houses the indoor pool, its very uncomfortable if you are just going to go to watch the kids swim and not want to get into water. I ended up getting in water many times and then back out in order to be able to stand being in there, they do have sliders that open along the back ( water side) but they give very little to no relief on 75 plus degrees summer day.

Love love love this pet friendly resort! We are lucky enough to cruise here on our boat & Nick (Harbor Master) & his crew on the docks are outstanding & so friendly! Free showers for moorage guests & keys to the pool (Olympic sized & saline) which is open until midnight. Towels are even provided! Dinner at the restaurant is a must & the steak frites is not to be missed, along with the prawn appetizer. We love to sit by the outdoor fire with the dogs or enjoy the peaceful view from the adirondacks on the grass. Only bummer here is that the dogs arent welcome to the outdoor dining area. :( Other than that practically perfect! Check out the waterfall & notice the abundant varieties of plant life in the beautiful landscaping (great job gardners!) and dont forget to say hi! to Alder & Brook the house cats in the main lodge.

The Alderbrook has been a favorite family friendly getaway for many years for us. The food, restaurant, and views are amazing, and generally the accommodations are quite nice. I am sad to post that based on our most recent stay this year they have really gone downhill and housekeeping efforts are lacking. We checked in and the bathrooms in our room wreaked of urine among other low quality, rushed cleaning effort and accumulated fingerprints, hair, and such from others who’d stayed in the unit before us. We, of course, informed the staff and they came to give it another more thorough clean (while we waited in the lobby) which one would expect - but still, unacceptable to begin with. They were apologetic and comped us for the inconvenience. But, it was not just limited to our space - these are photos of the pool area with mounds of dirty towels on the floors, overloaded hampers, dirty floors, and not one clean towel available. I have never seen a hotel’s common areas in such condition.

While we have enjoyed a few trips to Alderbrook Resort over the years, this trip was special, as it was the first time I was able to receive a massage in over a year (after a really unfortunate experience at another high end spa in Snoqualmie a month prior). From the moment I arrived at Alderbrook, I felt safe and seen. The staff were caring, engaged, and fully committed to ensuring guests had the experience they were hoping for upon coming to the resort.Walking into the spa, I felt immediately at ease. Safety protocols were clear and politely presented. While all staff at Alderbrook spa are vaccinated, they were still wearing masks to remove any barriers that might negatively interfere with their clients experience. It was a great welcome. Then, the massage. It was perfection. Relaxing music, dim lights, expert massage strokes, and special extras, like aromatherapy and a glorious foot ritual. It was exactly what I wanted and so desperately needed after this last year of uncertainty and stress. In fact, it was so enjoyable, I did not want to leave :) But, I am so happy to already be planning a return visit soon, as this will definitely be my spa go to for the foreseeable future.Thank you, Alderbrook Spa, for the restful, reassuring, and rejuvenating experience.

Had a terrible experience here. Came for an event. First the room keys didnt work and had to go back to the front desk a couple of times to have it fixed. When I finally got into the room, it was so dark (no natural light) and smelled damp. The bathtub faucet was leaking, there was left over trash in the room ( an old bottle of beer) and a dead bug on the bathroom curtain. So I asked to have the room changed. They said they didnt have any rooms available without even bothering to check their computer as there were other people checking in. I did see other rooms being cleaned and prepared so I mentioned I am willing to wait if those would be available later but again they said no without even bothering themselves to check. The cherry on top was when the manager suggested that I go ask the other guests/strangers and see if they would switch their room with me!!!The manager and the team at the front desk clearly need to be educated on the basics of hospitality.Terrible experience overall and would not recommend staying in this place.

I honestly wished we listened to the other reviews. Drinks were best part of the dinner unfortunately. It was pretty much the only place open near our stay but we should have definitely traveled further for something else. Waiter was nice enough but unfortunately could not hear him at all, very soft spoken and muffled by his mask.My biggest issue is my food was not what the menu described. I understand it stated menu items can change but a heads up when its actually ordered would have been nice so I could have just got something else. Not saying to avoid entirely, just maybe dont get hopes up. $100 for 2 mediocre dinners and 2 drinks, it was underwhelming at best.

First and foremost I don’t work for Alderbrook but I can say, there are some fantastic people who do! Let me just say that some of the reviews on here really show your ENTITLEMENT. Your lack of planning does not equate to the resorts emergency. Like PLAN ahead. Can’t stay over after check out… here’s probably why when you checked in if they would have said sorry your room is still occupied you would have loss your mind and blew a gasket. So now you want to stay over and inconvenience the next person because your stay is more important than theirs? Stop it! That’s ridiculous! Also show some love to these folks who work hard daily to ensure they give you the best service possible! Everyone is not perfect as I am sure you are not. Things will go wrong from time to time, plan ahead.

We love Alderbrook and are staying here for my wifes birthday. A wonderful day and this evening ordered clam chowder and fish and chips to eat in our room. In the restaurant business you are only as good as your last meal and ours was not good. I ran across the courtyard to pick it up and was assured everything was in the bag. No catchup, no tartar sauce and the malt vinegar was just plain vinegar. Ran back to get the missing stuff and now the food is cold! Chowder had bread crusts in it - very odd. Fish breading was too thick and gooey. You get the idea. We cancelled our dinner the next night when we were going to have salmon and lamb chops. My wife is very disappointed...

Booked 2 nights in their dog friendly room. We only stayed one night due to terrible customer service, overpriced inedible food and a dirty room. The room had mold growing in the mini fridge and on the window looking out. The room also had paper thin walls; We could hear everyone and everything outside our room. It snowed while we were there, and they did nothing to prepare for it. Walkways were not shoveled making it difficult to walk anywhere. We were unable to make an appointment with the spa. I called the spa when we checked-in and had to leave a voicemail. They called back an hour later and told me they could not schedule us and hung up. We were told there was going to be a special Valentine’s day menu but lo and behold, there was nothing. They had nothing special for Valentine’s on that matter. We ordered the most expensive things on the dinner menu (NY strip steak and beef short ribs) and were left incredibly disappointed. No flavor, tough and chewy. They automatically add 20% to your bill for a service charge that is counted towards the tip. They make sure not to tell you this when you are signing the receipt with an empty spot for a tip. The staff were rude, lacked a level of customer service you would expect at a resort and spa, and we were given the run around anytime we asked a question. I would expect this from a Best Western, not a “resort”.
