The general Manager Melissa is super nice, professional and helpful. I don’t really go out at all because I don’t like being around too many people. Melissa offered us a VIP table. The VIP section is very comfortable and spacious. The drinks were delicious especially their famous FishBowls. Their lemon drop Shots is what brought me back to Coglins. The Music is all 80s 90s which I love. All the employees are very welcoming, the bathrooms are very clean.I love how they have different events it brings me out of my shell and I’m being more comfortable going out and dancing.I give this nightclub 5 ⭐️ and I’ll definitely recommend this to anyone celebrating any kind of event.

This is by far one the best places to go in Wilmington! Fun atmosphere with great staff, music and drinks. If youre looking for a great time, this is the place. Never had any issues here, the security team does an amazing job. Have a blast from the past with a visit to Wilms best 80s 90s Hotspot

The 12 of us partied like it was 1999! The staff was friendly and fast, drinks were amazing, and the DJ took our requests. What more can u ask for?

Having spun in Wilmington clubs from 1977-1990 I was very disappointed in the music here. It wasnt even OK....it was terrible. Additionally, the DJ doesnt mix. We stayed for 1 drink, which was long enough to realize it sucked. Huge disappointment and theyre definitely missing a market!!!!!!

Did not have a good experience here. I accidentally spilled water over the balcony edge outside and a guy aggressively came over and told my friends and I to leave. He was very rude, and extremely unprofessional. We apologized but he said he was the “owners son” and he could do whatever he wanted. This is a nasty and ugly place to go if you want to experience any type of fun. The man that approached us got in our faces and seemed like he was going to hurt us. I’ll attach a photo of him below. He had a shirt on with rusty h&m chains. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Awesome dancing retro bar in Wilmington. They had a live DJ who was very interactive with the crowd. We ordered a punch bowl that was mostly sugar but it was still fun to get up and dance like a fool. Definitely recommend to anyone in town! Loved the vibes and the neon colors. $5 charge to get in.

I came here with a broken ankle and crutches. The bartenders gave me a stool behind the rope so I could sit down and be away from the dancers. They were truly amazing and super helpful! I greatly appreciate their consideration. My friends who aren’t crippled had a great time and I was able to enjoy sitting down. Great party environment.

I booked a booth here for my best friend’s bachelorette party. The general manager, Brad Hoffman, confirmed that he would process my payment the day I sent my card information. 18 days and multiple emails asking him to confirm later, my payment was finally processed. When we arrived at the bar, I told the bouncer we had a VIP booth and he said “are you sure?” And then had to go get the GM. It turned out that he had put our reservation on the incorrect date. Then we had to ask for multiple things we pre-paid for (second bottle of champagne, Jell-O shots, etc.). They were “out” of Jell-O shots, although we were the second group of people in the bar. Brad did nothing to comp for forgetting our reservation, second champagne bottle, or for switching our shots to a premade shot without asking. There was no “preferred bar service” as no server ever came into the VIP area except when Brad gave us our first bottle of champagne. To top it all off, we didn’t receive the 11 “swag bags” we paid for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PAYING FOR THE VIP BOOTH, there was nothing VIP about it.

2023 update: I no longer recommend Coglins.I went on a Saturday night when most businesses downtown were busy but this one was not (should have been a red flag right away). On the plus side, the bouncer did notify us of the $5 cover charge before we got upstairs so there were no surprises. The main negative was that the DJ did not read the crowd at all. The music was no longer 80s/90s retro pop and instead mid/late 00s hip-hop. There were only a handful of people dancing and at least 20-30 people in the club just standing around the bar not engaged at all. There was no variety at all, and after about 45 mins of standing around waiting for better music (or at least for more than a few people to dance), we left.--2022 original review:Such a fun spot to dance to throwback music! On a Saturday night, it was busy, but wasnt too full that you couldnt move around. Music/DJ was kind of strange - bad transitions between songs and they didnt seem to adapt to the crowd. We were there for about an hour and a half and heard at least one song twice. Would definitely go back though.

This place rips you off. They claimed i had 21 drinks in 90 minutes and charged me $200. I paid it but if i had 21 drinks in 90 minutes I’d me hammered. The owner did nothing and I’ll never go there again.If you’re gay your price will be less. I was there with a lot of my friends but i was charged and treated differently.

The setting was cool, the music was okay, the DJ transitioned the songs too quick. Everything the song was starting to play good, it was changed....purchased 1 beer on my card, checked my bank statement the next day and seen that I was charged $15 extra on my card!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU GO TO COGLINS..DO.NOT.USE.YOUR.CARD!

Great atmosphere and very fair in price, but staff are very unprofessional and disrespectful.

Check my knife at the door not a problem ...present from my best friend for Christmas, expensive knife. Forget to pick it up on the way out came back a week or so later to find they dont have it anymore in lost and found so an employee outright took it home. No interest in ever returning.

Super fun atmosphere!! All the bartenders are extremely nice and the fact that you can play Nintendo games on level one is a plus. Definitely a great place to come and have a great time!

Had a fun time visiting this place. The have a cool vibe and that bar like atmosphere. They have a decent outdoor balcony area that overlooks downtown. The drinks were good and staff was nice. I plan to go back and introduce the place to some more friends. I would recommend. Nice to have a different type of place in town.

First visit to Coglin’s and I’ll definitely be back! Clean place, reasonably priced drinks, & friendly staff. Loved the 90s vibe from the lights & music. And the upstairs made for a nice option to take a break without having to full on leave the bar.

Getting worse every time we go unfortunately. DJ is mostly to blame..and I’m speaking on behalf of a whole group I was with the other night cuz I don’t even like this whole Karen-like review thing. He repeated 3 different songs the other night once over each. Idk, maybe he’s struggling to keep material fresh because he’s limited to “retro” which is understandable but THEN he gets very sensitive when given song suggestions — to the point of stopping the music to call people out. That one sobered the crowd up pretty quick. *insert literal record scratch noise* ..I get he wants tips but he’s aughta humble himself a little sometimes and read the room. He switches songs so fast. Just honest criticism. Other than that the place is awesome.

Went for a Saturday night with some friends. Stood by the bar in front of this brunette bar tender with quad tats for 25 mins. Did not even acknowledge me. A dude who pulled up 15 mins after me got me a drink. Fun spot though. Pay attention though bartender. 🪦

Loved the setting, HATED the music! They played 90s hip hop that was either slow sounding or nobody would know! The music downstairs was great and I asked if the true 80/90s music could play upstairs in the club and was told that I had to wait for the DJ. When the DJ got there he played the lamest songs. Upgrade yall playlist please to some Britney, NSYNC, & Spice girls!

I was charged 50 dollars for 2 Red Bull vodkas. I was clearly not all there mentally and was taken advantage of by the bartender. When I voiced my concern to the bouncer who brought me to the manager; I was escorted out of the bar. Definitely not the place to go

It’s an 80’s bar. I request they play it’s tricky for my gf birthday at 12. They said they would. I understand they have a play list but I asked 3 times and every time I asked they said they would. We stayed until 1:30 and they never played it’s tricky. It’s a great party song and if you are not going to play it/or can’t for whatever reason don’t say you will.

Yes, yes yes!!! 😍 We had an amazing time and I’m glad this place exists in Wilmington!! It’s a new favorite. The staff were attentive and just awesome. We sang our hearts out and the whole vibe just screams fun. Can’t wait to go back.

DO NOT GET A “FISH BOWL”Prices are higher for standard beers and alcohol which is to be expected as this is a club but the fish bowls which are in fact handheld and not a big table one meant for multiple people as in most other places are $24! It’s 90% ice with limited alcohol and mostly juice/soda. I was gagged when I got my bar tab!

Love this place. We go every time we go out to dinner downtown. It’s the only place that We dance the whole night, lol. Great vibe and great music. All age groups having fun together .

Clearly the reason they don’t put their phone number online is because they scam you out of money. I was charged $155 for about $70 in drinks. Don’t use your credit card or they will scam you. Now I have the trouble of disputing all of the charges with my bank. Thanks Coglins!!

This is probably the coolest bar in this town the atmosphere is popping the dance floor is never stopping and they only play music from the 90s which is a time that we wish we could all at least visit once every now and then.your visit by going to Ibiza and coglins in the same night

Within 2 minutes of walking in and ordering a drink had a guy who was clearly over served try to start a fight and the bouncers with out any idea of what was going on wanted to throw us both out. They ended up only throwing him out after finding out he was clearly hammered. Still a trash experience I wouldn’t recommend. The one in Raleigh is ok.

Attempts to play 80s and 90s. Tends to play the 2000s and turns all 80s and 90s songs, if there is any, into club songs. If you want a club environment, then this is the place for you. Does not adhere to the clientle or music it is intended for.

I’m sure it’s fun inside but it is not 18+ like advertised on google. They will waste your time making you go all the way to the door just to turn you away

The only thing that was 80s in this club was the DJ. they played nothing from the 80s and 90s. There were other couples desperate to dance and there was a lot of modern music because that’s all he played. I was very disappointed. I hope my review will somehow reach out to the owner to stop the false advertising
