The grounds and location of Solair are incredibly beautiful. However, it does feel more like a 65+ retirement community, which I’m sure is great for some visitors. But, as someone much younger, this wasn’t the vibe I was expecting or looking for.The one thing I do have a complaint about and I encourage new visitors to considers is the “first time visitors tour”. This mandatory tour is thrust upon you when you first walk in and feels more jarring like a hazing or fraternity initiation where you are paraded nude in front of members in order for them to scrutinize you.My partner and I were forced to do this in the freezing rain and I was told to take my rain coat off, despite the weather conditions. We asked to postpone until the weather let up, and were told absolutely not.It was so inappropriate that several members later came over to apologize. Neither of us felt like we had agency over our own bodies or had the ability to decline, we were there for consumption. This objectifying practice is completely inexcusable and needs to stop. We won’t be returning.
This resort’s board kicked my friends out for being visibly transgender. Gave no justification. Terrible behavior that goes all the way to the top.
Most room rentals dont have toilets. Only other complaint would be the fee structure. Singles pay the same as couple and families.
While other resorts flounder, Solair flourishes. Pool, beach, pond, hot tub, camping, and rooms are all exceptional.
Great family friendly place to visit. Lots of options for things to do while there. Definitely everyone nearby should at least try it once and be sure to bring the whole family along.Back at full operational status.Unfortunately the cafe has changed again, Delish Bistro is a downgrade from the Naked Turtle. Prices are ridiculous, $20 for a burger and Coke. The upgraded/renovated cabins are nice, looking forward to them getting to all of the cabins.
Great place to enjoy sans clothes. Learned Pickle ball here and love to play weekends with the group. The people are so friendly. Great New England place. We loved it so much we became associate members. One drawback when staying over, most cabins don’t have a bathroom. Need to use common bathrooms which are nice but I like to have it in my room. The restaurant has good food, but only open weekends and holidays. Cabins do have grills, refrigerators, and pots and pans.
I visited for the day last summer to check it out with a friend. Her and I both loved it. Great amenities. People were friendly for the most part. The food at The Naked Turtle Cafe was really good and reasonably priced. The hot tub was relaxing. I am already a member/lease holder at Dyer Woods Nudist Campground in Foster, RI but still look forward to visiting Solair a time or two again this summer. It was a really great time.
I really enjoyed going here it was really lovely I was the guest of a couple of members and I really enjoyed myself and the people were really friendly.
This is a nudist resort, the people here are great, helpful and easy to socialize with. The heated pool is super clean and clear. The hot tub and sauna rock. There was a bonfire on the beach. Its a swimmable lake. Our cabin was perfect, including the bed.The roads are very well maintained and the bathrooms ARE clean. The activities / amenities are well planned, well looked after so people use them.We had a great time, met some fantastic people, Solairs squad as well as the other guests. When you first arrive they golf cart you off on a tour of the property and rules. The tour is fun. So many here volunteer to help out the park looks beautiful. so much more... We love it here...p.s. photos arent really polite to take here...
This resort has become the favorite of my family! My daughter, now 9, had been visiting since she was 18 months and she loves all the different activities that are available. Its a great place to unwind and enjoy life!
We had a great weekend here! Staff was all welcoming and warm, guests and members all seemed friendly and inviting and the grounds were very nice and clean. We had our kids with us and felt safe around everyone. Good mix of ages from kids to adults. Thanks for a great weekend. We will be back!
I was there for a day trip on September 5th. This was the first time Ive been to a resort like this and I had a great time. The hiking trails not labeled as rugged were easy to follow, and I didnt even have to use bug spray. The pond has a decent sized beach, with equipment like paddleboards and kayaks to use. Swimming in the pond is also fun, and there is a small platform to jump off of too. I never even bothered to go to the pool, but it looked nice when I went by. At 4pm a band played for the people at the pond beach and I couldnt have wished for a better ending to a very eventful day.Everyone I talked to was really nice, and I definitely plan on coming back. If you enjoy being naked as much as you can at home, youll have a great time here. I wont forget how awesome it felt to swim completely naked, and walk back to my chair and no one batting an eye.
Excellent all encompassing resort/ campground. Our visit was on the coldest day of the summer. Super fun and relaxed atmosphere. Rules and safety are of the utmost importance. There is a zero tolerance policy for anything inappropriate. Great location with plenty of amenities. Extremely freeing and positive environment.
Visited this place for the first time today with my partner and we had a great experience. All of the members we encountered who were there to show us around for the first time were very approachable and kind. We also stopped by the restaurant they have on-site and we both really enjoyed the food. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Overall we felt very comfortable, welcomed, and very happy with our experience. We will definitely be back!
I had an amazing experience here. This was my first visit to area. I had tried another resort in past and was very disappointed. Solair made me feel comfortable right away. Being a single female I felt safe and never sexualized. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Hiking was amazing with many trails to explore. Amenities despite pool not open yet all were clean and enjoyable. I look forward to visiting again. Top Notch.
Solair was my first, and now is my go-to, nudist resort. I use resort lightly as it is more of a campground, but it more upscale than what you think of when you hear the word campground. The place is clean and very natural. It boasts a nice pond, a beautifully warm swimming pool, and a lot of activities to keep you busy. It is very family-friendly.
Solair is a magical place. Ive gone there as a guest and as a solo visitor. Each time Ive visited Ive been struck by the natural beauty of the place as well as the clean and well maintained facilities. The greatest part of Solair, however, is the group of warm, welcoming and friendly people I always encounter there. I recommend Solair to singles, couples and families.
Solair Recreation League is another one of the great nudist resorts and campgrounds that date back to the early days of the nudist movement in the United States. Located in Connecticut, it is fairly accessible for most of the folks residing in New England and even has the added benefit (for us personally) of being easily accessible by ferry from Long Island, making it roughly the same distance to get to and from as many of our other closest resorts in NY, NJ, and PA—without the hassle of dealing with the NYC traffic! While Solair operates year-round for its many residents and members, it is generally closed to non-members during the winter months. Outside of that, Solair does accommodate day visitors during the spring and summer seasons, and does have a membership process for aspiring members or would-be residents that requires four visits with references from existing members. Whether you are interested in this or not largely would depend on how often you plan to visit, but their team of staff and volunteers do a great job at explaining the benefits and giving you a thorough tour of the property during your first time at Solair.Located on more than 360 acres, Solair has plenty of room for residents and campers alike, as well as specific rental accommodations that are available and differ greatly in their offerings. It would be best to inquire at the office depending on what you are looking for, but we would absolutely recommend one of their rentals if you arent set on bringing your camping gear or RV. There are also a number of homes and other permanent accommodations available for sale for those who are interested, but as mentioned above you would need to complete the membership process prior to entertaining buying into Solair. As part of the acreage, there are some really great (and semi-challenging; at least enough to get a good workout going!) hiking trails, including perhaps the most well-known Bare Trail that leads to an extremely scenic overlook of the rest of the resort. In terms of amenities, as with most nudist resorts and campgrounds there is a centralized area where most of the socializing takes place. This is usually centered around either the large elevated pool and expansive pool deck (with canopy for shade in some areas), or the beachfront area that makes for a more tranquil sunbathing experience. Both are great options! The pool is adjacent to an indoor hot tub, excellent bathroom and shower facilities, and clubhouse. On the lower level you will find the Delish Bistro that serves some truly incredible dishes (save room for dessert)! Be sure to check on the offerings during your visit, as the menu will change from time to time and some days there will be breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner served, but not necessarily three meals a day every day (unless perhaps there is an event going on over the weekend). Around the corner, youll find the quiet beachfront area with plenty of lounge chairs, side tables, picnic tables, and boat rentals on an honor system that you can enjoy using on the lake. You can also swim in the lake and there is a dock in the middle that you can climb up on to rest and sunbathe, similar to what Rock Lodge offers, though perhaps the lake is smaller in size (or at least narrower for that matter). There is also a recreation hall near this area that will frequently be home to live music entertainment and dancing, especially during events or on summer weekends. All-in-all, Solair has everything that you could want from a nudist resort and campground in the northeastern U.S. and we would absolutely recommend a visit! The professional staff at the front office (which also serves as a gift shop) and the delightful member volunteers make the experience all that much better (thank you, Julie!)
I have been a visitor to Solair for many years; usually visiting a couple of times each summer. Recently, I have had the opportunity to visit more often. This summer and last summer, Solair became a staycation site for me. And, I have enjoyed these visits even more than I have the once or twice visits from the past. The entire facility is well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. The pool, showers, hot tub and all of the other facilities are of the highest quality. This summer, I noticed some improvements to the pool and pool area that have increased the comfort of the space. The atmosphere, the people, the amenities continue to impress me and draw me back to the facility. In order for me to visit, I must drive over 75 miles from the other side of Connecticut and I have come to realize that the drive is part of the mental relaxation that I experience when I spend time at Solair. If you are looking for this type of summer experience, I would highly recommend that you investigate Solair.
Very disappointing. High pressure sales to buy into the “corporation “. I was looking forward to a quiet relaxing afternoon, but I was not allowed to enjoy after paying $130.00.I would not recommend visiting this resort. In addition, the hot tub was not operational, had a brown film in the hot tub, yet it was not closed for repairs.
Huge fan of this resort. Great judgement free zone. Clean facilities. Lots of great activities.campsites ans rustic cabins for rent. Pool amd hot tub are awesome. Pond has free kayaks and canoes.
A beautiful property with varied hiking trails, a pool and swimming pond among its many well maintained facilities. All members and visitors are meticulously screened to ensure it remains family friendly and weed out any potential inappropriate behaviour.
Outstanding facilitys for All, regardless of age or gender. Also an excellent place to chill or socialize.
From start to finish we felt welcomed by everyone. Staff, ambassadors, members, and residents. This is a must do naturist/nudist resort with great people, facilities and hiking.
Friendly people. Helpful to newcomers. Beautiful facilities. Great place to relax and refresh.
I went to Solair for the first time the other day, for the day visit. Its quite a big resort and I am not used to seeing a naturist resort of that size, having previously gone to smaller neighboring Dyerwwods . If I was to guess there must have been 300 people there, and that was only in the common area by the pool and lake, I did not venture off onto the trails and other parts of the resort. It was great to see so many naturist/nudist out of all ages (from young families to retirees), races, genders shapes and sizes out despite the overcast weather. I keep on reading online about attracting younger people and minorities to naturist resorts and clubs,I dont know where these critics go, but Solair does not fit that bill, and I was told many young people canceled that day because of the weather. I am in my 30s and had no problem fitting in and finding people my age and those in their 20s to converse with, and like with all naturist environments (at least for the ones I attend) I was naturally talking to older generations too, and got invited to play a pickup game of volleyball.Yes, as others have stated (and as laid out on their website) if it is your first time there you do have to take a tour, have an interview and are given a packet about membership, but I did not feel pressured to become a member. My tour guide was Bob, he was really friendly, he’s been a member since the 80s and you could tell is passionate about the place. I later met his wife at the tie dying event going on, who was also quite friendly.I had lunch at the Naked Turtle Cafe; a chicken wrap with fries, the fries are delicious. Lunch there closes at 2pm, which for me is a bit early. I wish that they served lunch until 3pm, but I am nitpicking here and they do open up for dinner again at 5pm. And they have a large common kitchen you can use if you bring your own food. The pool is nice and heated, I was able to find a spot on the deck to put my stuff down while I went for a swim or used the hot tube, without feeling as if anything would be taken. Because of the weather I did not go into the lake, but they have paddle boats, canoes, and even a dragon boat you can borrow. One cool thing on the beach they also have is some old school playground equipment from like the 70s, which I hope they never get rid of.Now for the negatives, and why I have to go down a star. I did not like how many dressed people I saw around, I understand the weather was not the best, but I also saw people who had shorts on but no shorts and that does not really keep you warm, this was the volleyball court. There was also one guy walking around fully dressed, t-shirt and shorts, and for me a preferred nudity required places vs optional so I wouldn’t feel gawked at and it puts everyone at an even playing feel if you wish to converse with one another, there is no clothing dividing people based on status or occupation, etc. I also think the check in staff should be nude too, I think that is a bit odd. As mentioned above, this was not my first time at a naturist establishment but I can imagine that if this was someones first experience with social nudity having the reception desk people being nude can help ease first timers hegistations.Besides that, I think this would be a great place for families or those who want to do a lot of activities with modern facilities.
Cant wait to get back. The people are very pleasant and make you feel at home. The grounds and the trails are amazing.
Me and my wife have enjoyed this place for the last 3 yrs everyone there is great the place is so relaxing and fun so much to do this yr we spent all our stays at the beach cabin we cant wait for next yr to enjoy the summer there...

Beautiful setting, large heated pool, special events, fantastic people - this place is a slice of heaven. I only wish I lived closer.
Great place to be, live music, lake to swim, pool... ☺️
Great club for the AANR convention. SUPER staff and volunteers.
Horrible. Discriminated. Make up false accusations from anonymous people. Kick you out. Take your money. I got sick here no ambulance. Dictator like rules. Guys are not welcome.
This is a nice place to visit and be free with yourself and the Earth and take in all its beauty within yourself.
People are very nice. Property is well maintained. Will visit again!
