I never write bad reviews but today was sadly over the line for me. My massage therapist Melinda is incredible and books out months in advance. I was excited to come in for a 90min massage because it had been a while since I’d been in. I walk in and the girl at the front desk checks me in and sends me back. I sit in the back room for 10 minutes (5 past the time my service should’ve started) before I walk back to the front confused- Melinda is never late. I ask the people at the front desk (a boy has since joined) if my appointment time was correct and the boy tells me that Melinda wasn’t working that day and “they probably should’ve called me.” He asks if another day works for me but I know Melinda books out so I asked when her next available was and it’s not until a month and half from now. I took off a morning of work for this appointment and the front desk basically said “oops” and offered no way to alleviate the situation. Would leave no stars because of how infuriating the front desk staff is but Melinda is so amazing I’ll still leave 2.

The therapists are wonderful, especially Jasmine. The owner is condescending, rude, untruthful, and completely unhelpful. Only cares about your money and will talk to you like an idiot if they overcharge you without your consent and offer ZERO help. The office manager was more helpful and way more pleasant.They overcharged me for 3 months and the owner said it was my fault for not finding it sooner (I was recovering from a high risk pregnancy that ended in c-section), not reading my contract (which had nothing to do with this matter), and tell me his hands were tied with corporate and could do nothing to help me. When I said I found that hard to believe, he hung up on me! Wow! Im furious I gave this man any of my money.

1st I have messaged massage envys contact us to address this privately and they havent bothered to respond. The girls at the front desk were very polite and professional. Adam has absolutely known massage therapy training at all! Hes going to physically hurt someone. He was all over the place No technique he was literally pinching my shoulder muscles and shaking them as hard as he could. My shoulders are in worse shape than they were when I came in they are swollen and sore now. I had 3 previous massages before this one and the knots were almost gone now they are 100% back. I told him to massage my scalp he rubbed the same spot at the crown of my head for a few minutes and thats it. I was lying there praying for that hour to hurry up and be done. I actually think he fell asleep a few times. He is a huge man and he was using one hand to rub my back not massage and the other hand on my hip leaning on me as for him to rest for him to rest. Im doing this review for other peoples safety not to be a mean person! The website said they would contact me within 24 to 48 hours Its been over a week Ill never return!!!!

Massage envy is very professional but I did not have a good experience with jasmine at all.Jasmine is quite rude and gave me a painful massage. She informed me that she “cannot go lighter on pressure” and that I needed to get another therapist.I’m not one that’s hard to please and I like a good firm relaxing massage but my back is purple now. No part of this was relaxing.

Horrible customer service! Had my charge card on file from a previous appointment, months ago, and charged me 63$ for a cancellation fee? That I did not approve of.

My experience with her was very wonderful and I feel great after seeing her!Original: I’ve never written a poor review online before but my experience was genuinely upsetting in how poor it was. My massage therapist was incredibly rude and abrasive. Her pressure was so intense I was biting back tears as she pressed and dragged against bone with minimal to sometimes no lotion or oil—all friction. She squeezed and rubbed my arms so roughly her own arms were shaking from the amount of pressure she was exerting. She scolded me for being “severely dehydrated,” which is why I was “too tense”. I am well-hydrated; I was tense because the appointment was so painful. At one point she asked me if the pressure was ok and I asked for lighter, but she did not change a thing. I have bruises and burst capillaries on my back and shoulders (this was not a deep tissue massage; this experience is not normal for a full body). Even when being handed her tip she was STILL being abrasive and short. I went with my mother and she had a wonderful facial, but unfortunately I can’t say the same for my experience. As mentioned by other reviewers, please do not see Jasmine at this location.

The place was nice and the massage was decent, but jasmine was super rude and only massaged for 50 minutes instead of an hour. Definitely do not have jasmine. Looking through the other reviews, there seems to be a common theme between Jasmine.

I have a membership. Everytime I make a appointment even 2 months in advance they cancel for one reason or another. Main excuse is the therapist has quit. Then there is no more appointment available for another month or so. I have paid almost $500 in membership fees and havent got to use. The massages are great when your able to get them

The environment is great and relaxing, but I did not have a god experience. I asked for light-medium when booking my apt. When I went for my apt my therapist asked what pressure I preferred and I told her light to medium. Her response, in a very rude manner was “I am not a light therapist”. She proceeded to tell me get ready and lay down and she would be back. Today I am very sore to touch. I feel like I was beaten. I have literal bruises on my body. My therapist tone was extremely uninviting. She even sighed during the session multiple times. It was a very uncomfortable experience and I will likely never return. I do understand that every therapist is different and I try to appreciate that. I even tried to tell myself that maybe she was having a hard day, but I just cannot move past how that 90 mins made me feel. I hope someone reads this who will prevent this in the future.

Just left this facility for good. Ive had a membership for over a year 1/2 and literally been rescheduled over a dozen times the same day of my appt! The front office assistant Victoria is extremely rude and nasty over the phone. Ive even shown up to an appt that they said someone forgot to call me and cancel. Sad to say the one therapist I was seeing was good but the company service and the front staff can be terrible. Yes I had a few choice words for my time being wasted as I was paying for service taking off work and still being charges but not compensated for my time as if it didnt matter. Very inconsiderate. Please whatever you do, do not get the membership you will get many calls about .cancelations.

The massage itself was good but when you pay these prices you expect politeness, professionalism, and good “bedside manner”. Based on the tone of her voice, she seemed very inconvenienced from the second she first got me from the waiting room. I especially noticed it in the way she asked me to turn over. The final straw was after the massage, I asked her a question and she answered in what I believed to be a rude tone telling me I was wrong about what side of my neck was affecting me more, as she rushed out the door mid-sentence before I could even follow up. It’s also better if you look people in the eye when you’re talking to them. If that’s too hard for you, then expect your tip to reflect that (I normally tip 20).I won’t be going back.

Prices are incredibly steep. I came in for 60 minute appointment with two add-ons and ended up only having a 30 minute appointment. I was charged $195 because I was not a member. which was never explained to me during my appointment booking. I feel like I was swindled and they overcharge me five more dollars and didn’t even tell me - I was quoted -$120 ended up paying $195. Walking out the door for 30 minutes of service completely Ridiculous. I will never go back. Too bad, per the woman who did my service was very sweet. But if you’re going to spend this money, you might as well go to Château élan or the natural body spa and get a full body service for over an hour.

Went in for my first facial with Abby. It was AMAZING! She was so kind and explained everything she was going to be doing in our appointment which I really appreciate. Because I visited on my birthday the additional service was complimentary. Abby then suggested some products that would help with my concerns, but wasn’t pushy when it comes to selling them. Her professionalism and kind personality really made an impression. I will be back, and will book with Abby again!

I booked a 90 minute prenatal massage and was quite nervous at first since this would be my first one. When I arrived the front desk were all very nice and explained what I needed to do to get signed in. Once signed in, one of the front desk ladies took me back and gave me a small tour since it was my first time. She was great! As for the service... It was FANTASTIC, my masseuse was Chris and he was very nice, considerate, and did a wonderful job. I have not felt this relaxed in quite sometime even before I was pregnant. I suggest everyone try Massage Envy and ask for Chris! You will not regret it.

My Daughter and I had a wonderful girls day at the spa. We were greeted by smiling faces and the front office team were so helpful to us. Amy and Tallon did a wonderful job with facials and massages. We both wanted to take a nap after. Thank you so much for making our day special

Last week I had an appointment for a 1.5 hour massage. I made it clear in the notes that this was for relaxation and I was having neck and back pain from lifting babies 24/7. I chose a therapist named Adam since he was one of the only therapist who does deep tissue massages at this location and I needed deep therapy.The front office was wonderful. Their covid precautions made me feel super safe and that’s a big deal for me. I met with my therapist and explained my lifestyle so that he knew what I was looking to gain from my massage. When my massage started it was wonderful. About 30 minutes into my massage I noticed the pressure significantly lessening. I thought it odd but he was the professional so I figured he knew what he was doing. Thinking “boy this is the most awkward foot/leg massage I have ever received” suddenly the massage stopped. The therapist was still holding my foot but wasn’t massaging anymore. Since I was face down my nose was running so I sniffed it and it jolted my theripiat back in to action. It was then that I realized he had dozed off during my massage. At first it was kinda funny and I chuckled. He did it several more times for about 15 minutes before asking me to turn over so I was face up.I have sever anxiety so speaking up takes an extreme amount of time for me to build up the courage to say something is making me uncomfortable. This went on for a total of 40 Him dozing off and me sniffing or moving to startle him awake. The last straw was the final time he fell asleep. The final time he dozed off his forehead landed on mine and I was done. I sat straight up and asked if we could be done at least 20 minutes before my massage should have been over. I was shaking and my heart was beating out of my chest. He asked if I was sure because the time was not done I asked him to get out of the room. I got dressed and walked to the front trying my hardest to fight back the tears I knew were inevitable. I asked the front staff to speak to a manager and they pointed to her office. I said I understand that a quiet 1.5 hour massage was a lot to ask for but I needed this and it was ruined for me. She was extremely apologetic and very kind and went straight to work to schedule me for another “1.5 hour massage with a 1 hour facial immediately after completely complimentary since that should never have happened” (her exact words). I left there feeling a little better but still very upset because I had inconvenienced other peoples day over this whole disappointment of a day. My appointment was reschedule for today Wednesday May 5th, 2021 at 4pm. (This was confirmed yesterday evening) today at 10am I had a missed call and voicemail from massage envy that they were canceling my appointment. I called them back to of course ask why and all I was told was the therapist was unable to do today and that I could reschedule. I asked to speak to a manager and the person in the phone informed me that they were the manager. I explained to her my frustrations and the multitude of reasons I needed this appointment today and why I am extremely frustrated and very time limited for things like this. Her response was “well your still scheduled for your facial today at 6pm”. REALLY?! I don’t care about the facial. I want the massage that I desperately needed last week to correct the issues that the sleeping therapist caused me to have today on top of the issues I had prior! Her solution was “well the therapist you had last week has an appointment available at 8pm today” ARE👏🏼YOU👏🏼KIDDING👏🏼ME?! In a furry I asked her to reschedule me for an appointment next month because at this point I can’t do another day this month and to be quite honest I never want to go back to this place again. To me this is absurd. This whole situation is no fault of my own yet I’m the one let down in pain and constantly disappointed. I’m angry and hurt and no longer trust a place of business that treats customers this way and feel that everyone should hear what happened to me so they can make a better location selection for massages in the future.

Had my first massage today at massage envy with Sarah. I came in nervous. Everyone from walking in to leaving were all so welcoming and comforting. Sarah was absolutely amazing and really got out some knots I’ve been battling with for months. I feel like I’m floating she did so well! I will definitely be back and definitely recommend this location as well as Sarah.

If I could leave no stars I would! Not once but two times I have tried to schedule massages with the Athens location and both times my massages have been cancelled the day of ... The first time it was 30 mins before I was supposed to be there.... I would not recommend this location. I have used other Massage Envys and have never ever had problems such as this. I will not be going to this one ever again and I wouldnt recommend it to others.

Had a great massage here while visiting Athens. My masseuse was Patricia I think and it was great. She was really accommodating and professional. Really nice setup and rooms. Had the intro massage price at $50, but its like $90 after the first visit so I doubt ill be going back.

My masseuse, Tiahna, is AMAZING! The others are good too, but once you find someone you like, its great to be able to stay with them! The aromatherapy add on is great, really helps me relax and unwind and fully enjoy the massage. Becoming a member has definitely paid off! I book in advance when I can to make sure I have a spot. The entire staff is very friendly. Very clean.

I use to come here but i definitely wont be returning. I havent been here in a couple Of years crazy they charge a $165 for an hour and a 1/2 massage where the guy takes a cat naps through out the whole freaking massage so I really got maybe a 45 min massage. Then I swear he was dropping sweat on me but when I inquired he said oil...not to sure about that unfortunately it was definitely a waist of time and money, this was a gift to me. Now I need to go and lie and pretend like it was great so they dont feel like they waisted their money like I know they did!!!

Went in for my appointment to learn that my masseuse was sick that day and wasnt able to come in. Understandable, but frustrating. However, the staff at the front desk was so helpful and accommodating. They rescheduled me for my next earliest available day (only two days later!) and gave me multiple time options to chose from. I also received a voucher for a free massage for my inconvenience. A business can not control when an employee will be sick and I would much rather just reschedule than have a sick masseuse, but the way ME handled the situation was the epitome of customer service. They also tried to call me before my appointment to let me know so I wouldnt have to drive over, but my phone was on airplane mode so the call didnt go through. If the massage is as good as how they handled this situation, then I will gladly come again and again!

Scheduled a massage for my girlfriends birthday earlier last week. Got a call today telling me they cancelled the appointment because one of there therapists would be out of town. First front desk woman who called was incredibly rude.

My daughter gave me a gift card for Massage Envy for my birthday. I was so happy and excited, but it didnt turn out so good. Due to the fact that the guy giving the massage was constantly cat napping all the way through the massage. I had better experiences with getting a massage. This one was disappointing.

I have been to several different massage therapist and this was the worst! I was not relaxed at all due to the therapist talking throughout the massage. I was repeatedly asked if the pressure was ok and I told her no at which she went back to the same pressure. I have had deep tissue massages, but none like this one. At one point during the massage while she was working on my shoulders my hands had a numbness in them which I assume is not supposed to happen. When I got home I noticed a rash on my legs where she had massaged vigorously. Im not sure if it was a reaction to the pain or the oil that was used. Also I felt rushed the entire time. The massage was supposed to begin at 3:00 and it was 7 minutes after before she began. She left the room twice during the massage to get hot towels and sugar scrub and did not make up for the time. She finished at 3:58. The day after I am bruised in between my shoulders and feel worse than when I went in. I will not be going back!

Massage Envy in Athens Ga is second to none... From the time you walk in the door, you are feeling more relaxed just being in the building. The staff and massage therapists are great. This was the first time I have had a massage and it made me want to go back for more. Their membership is the lowest I have ever seen and look forward to going back before the month ends.

The front desk staff was very nice and easy to schedule with. My check in process was easy and they went over all the different services they offer. My massage therapist was great and very respectful.

Do not sign up for the year membership, they steal $60 a month from you. Have tried numerous times to get an appointment, and they say they are always booked up. They were shutdown for COVID and still charged my card. Would not recommend this place to anybody.

Pulled my back out on a Friday. Suffered through the weekend. Monday morning at 5am I couldnt sleep from back pain. Got online right then and booked online for a massage first thing in the morning. Sandra was friendly and professional. I walked out cured. Seriously. No pain since my massage!

The staff at Massage Envy Spa, Athens is awesome. The front desk is very helpful. Ive seen 4 of the massage therapists and they are all amazing. I have really tight hamstrings and all of the therapists were able to help ease my pain. I signed up for a membership and am looking forward to geting as many massages as possible at $39! This is the best value in Athens - hands down! :)

My son is in the army. He was home on leave for Christmas and received a gift certificate to Massage Envy. At first he was skeptical and didnt want to use it, stating he had never had a massage before. He was convinced to try it and absolutely loved it! He said he would return!

I have been a fan of therapeutic massage since 1980. I had always used independent therapist but earlier this year I decided to treat myself to a weekly massage and found the convenience of MASSAGE ENVY was wonderful and made it much easier to work with a team. I have used Adam and Sarah. I have RA (RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS) AND Spinal Stenosis. I have had 4 joint replacements. I need spinal surgery NOW by Dr Walpert. Adam and Sarah have changed my life... My pain is 90% better. I walk erect not humped over. I feel better. Happy ! What a gift Massage Envy is number 1 in my book. All the staff greet with a cheerful hello and they know my name. The facility is clean, comfortable.. In my book they get an A+. HD -Hank Davis

I love this place. Always greeted with a smile and Talon does the best deep tissue massages. Clean and friendly. Only complaint is that sometimes its to cold in the rooms even with the heated tables.

I usually have a massage once a year, as I get given a gift card for my birthday. This yr was my second year receiving a gift card at this massage salon. On line it states an introduction price of $50, and no other price (because I went a yr ago, I apparently have to pay the unadvertised price Of $95!!!!!!) Which is very expensive for a total massage time of 45 mins.Left feeling very disappointed 😔

DO NOT get ADAM for a massage. My wife went in there recently for a 90 minute massage and he fell asleep repeatedly while giving her a massage. She almost got up and walked out. And she should have.

Although I have gotten massages here previously, I will not go back because they are choosing to reopen in the middle of a pandemic and endangering the lives of their workers and other folks in the community. Very unprofessional.

They totally misrepresented the membership. I was never told I couldnt cancel the membership (though it was in the papers I signed, I shouldve read them better). But now Im stuck with this stupid membership to an awful place where the upfront staff is rude and I never want to step foot in there again. FML.

RUDE front desk people. If you hate your job so much find something else!!! Hate that this is the only ME near here. I hope management or the owner reads this because I’ve wanted to write a review the past 3 encounters with your front desk employees but I’ve always held back.

You can tell that the Massage Envy in Athens Georgia is professionally run and the staff genuinely cares about the clients!

Please do not reopen while this global pandemic is still happening! Put public health before profit! Wait until we hear from more global health experts before making this critical decision.

Their membership is an excellent deal. All their therapists and office staff are very nice too.

I would definitely recommend Massage Envy Athens. Very well thought out new safety procedures and cleaning protocols
