Normally I get my massages in Chicago Illinois but was here to visit family! I have been a member of Massage Envy for almost 4 years. I had a 90 min massage with Ernest and it was AMAZING!! I have no idea HOW I was so lucky but am already planning to book him when I come back to the area!!First, the continuity of massage was great. He was able to find the areas that needed attention without me having to say anything. He was respectful with the sheets when he changed my positions.His pressure was sufficient for the areas that needed it.Now of course letting the secret out about how great Ernest is means he will be busier but if you have not had an experience with Ernest…. I would see if you can get on his books! He will not disappoint!
I paid for one hour service and they dint even complete the one hour.The staff asked me where i had pain and i mentioned it. They put the pressure there.For the rest of the massage it was like applying oil to the body.And after the massage, now i feel pain in the areas where it did not pain before the massage.Really bad service!!!
Absolutely horrendous location and customer service. Despite calling and cancelling an appointment, ME charged my card anyway. When I informed them of the cancellation they then wanted proof I called and asked for a copy of my call history; which I provided. They then said too bad, they have methods in place to avoid such situations and when I asked what they are, they refused to tell me and refused to credit my account or refund the charge.
Unreputable business. Do not use. I was given a gift card. When I redeemed, I was told I needed to sign a membership to use the remaining funds. After asking explicitly whether I would be charged - I was told no several times and that they didnt enter my credit card. A few months later charges started showing up on my credit card for a membership fee. Mangement refused to refund the full amount. Poor business practices.
Horrible business model!. At first, they are super nice to get your business. After I signed up for an annual membership, it became hard just to book a massage appointment to the extent that my $120 credit expired. In overall I was not happy about the services provided. Such a ripoff ! I would not recommend this business to anyone!.Especially don’t get trapped in their annual membership!
This is my second review, so they should get another 5 stars. Marina at the front desk worked very diligently to help me book several appointments over the next few months. She is so nice and patient, and if I still ran my businesses, I would try to steal her. :-D Nicole is one of the best massage therapists I have ever had, so Marina helped me to book her for the next few months. This Massage Envy is one of the best. Below is the review I gave a few months ago:I live in Waxhaw but travel a bit further for a massage here because the front desk staff and Nicole are FABULOUS! The front desk staff always has been extremely courteous, and today they were so accommodating to a special request I had: I need to use many massages from my membership, so after I told them what types of services and a time range, they booked for me and then emailed me a schedule. Nicole is one of the best massage therapist I ever have had in my MANY years of receiving massages. I sleep like a baby after one of her massages and understand why she stays booked! I wait for her. Thank you to this Massage Envy for being one of the best!
Worst experience! Besides the leaks in the waiting area and and horrible smell. The room was stiff cold. I get undressed and after laying there naked for 15 min the massage therapist came in with a tablet for me to complete demographic information, yes still naked… she came in 5 min after that. I couldn’t get past it starting 25 min late she made it a point to let me know that the session will be 25 min less. I was understanding until that point once she started her sand paper massage, I opted to leave mid session the whole experience was horrible. I have never felt this horrible, this was so bad that even with a monthly membership may husband will not return.
I recently purchased a gift card for a friend for what I thought would be a good experience. Ultimately being the WORST MISTAKE!When my friend arrived the masseuse made him feel very uncomfortable. She made a rude comment about his size and weight (“Which he is not a big guy!”). The masseuse said “she’s use to massaging someone 160lbs and under.” Also she rushed through the entire massage!. This only goes to show that she’s only use to a particular type of person which makes her bias and unfit to work for the company!Following the end of the massage my friend went to pay and the receptionist and the manager tried to make him pay more than what the quoted price was told to him previously. SO UNPROFESSIONAL!After my friend left he was very upset! I reached out to Management to resolve issue and kept getting a run around. The manager would have the receptionist call back instead or leave us on hold and then hang up.I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!
I booked the appointment two weeks ago, nothing was said about not being able to do 90 minutes. They called to confirm yesterday. They said I had to wear a face mask. Today they call 30 minutes before the appointment to let me know I will only be able to do the 60 minute massage. They “gave me a foot scrub” for my inconvenience. I get in the store and they charge me for a face mask. The massage was not great, and the “foot scrub” was literally 3 minutes. The woman stopped 4/5 minutes before the 50 minutes was up (they take 10 off for you to get undressed and you talk to them). I will not come back to this location EVER. Then I tried to tip the woman and they said I would have to call back with a card..... ??? What? This site has issues. Not happy. 2 stars for the massage lady being nice.
I have a membership with massage envy, I’ve gone enough to tell y’all the front desk staff has horrible customer service. They are great when it’s your first experience so they try their best to get you to be a member. I haven’t been to any other location, I might try and see if it’s all of them. But today I got done a facial and had a great experience with the esthetician. She was great! But they really need to change the front staff members. Just because of them I won’t be extending my membership for another year.
Very poor customer service! I woke up with a migraine this morning and completely forgot that I had an appointment with Massage Envy. They called 10 mins into the hour to ask if I was still coming in. I asked if I could reschedule and they said that because I was already into my 1 hour service that they were still going to charge me for this appointment and they would charge for any rescheduled appointment. I didnt agree that they would charge for a service that they did not perform, but I decided to go ahead and go in since I was going to be charged anyway. When I got there the massage therapist said that she was only going to do a 30 min massage (the remainder of the time I had into the one hour) because she was going on her lunch break soon. I was very upset that they would charge me for a 60 min massage and only perform a 30 min massage! This is absolutely not customer service at all. Sometimes life happens and a customer needs to reschedule. You can not charge for a service you did not perform or perform half a service for what was actually paid for!
I’ve been coming to this location for about a year. For the most part, it’s been ok… However, I had the worst massage of my life today. At one point, she CHOKED ME “massaging” my neck. I’ve never been so uncomfortable and I was counting the minutes until it was over. I regret not leaving halfway through.
Usually I have good experiences at the Massage Envy chain, however I recently had such a subpar experience that I felt compelled to leave a review. I had the worst massage experience at the Ballantyne location, to the point where I dont know how it could of gone more wrong. The therapist, whose name was Bree just seemed to have poor attitude. The main issue was that she would not not try to change her style to what I asked.The end result was a poor massage without much relief. Furthermore, the entire session was awkwardly quiet, which made the hour that much more uncomfortable. I explained the situation to the people at the front desk, however my feedback just seemed unwanted. Even the manager would not do anything to rectify the situation.To conclude: since Massage Envy is the most expensive place in town, and has the worst customer service, I obviously will not be visiting this location again.
DO NOT sign up at the Ballantyne location! I never would have signed a 12 month contract had I known that you cant get an appointment! Ive been trying to get an appointment for weeks and theyre totally booked. I just logged in and figured I would try to just book each month until the end of my contract (that they wont let me out of) so I could book them far in advance. The calendar (as of today) only goes out through September 6...so there goes that idea! HIRE MORE PEOPLE! Im very unpleased!The staff is great, the location is clean...at least the one time Ive been able to go.
I saw a lot of bad reviews but I made sure I went online to book so I could lay out my preferences and get a great massage. I like a deep tissue and that’s hard to find sometimes. On the day of they called and said the person I booked with was out sick but they had another similar massage at about the same time. I booked it and best massage!!! Tim was amazing and talked about what he was doing and the benefits of stretching the muscles and how tense I was lol... while also letting me just relax. Ask for tim, he’s great! Also front desk staff was very friendly! I forgot my gift card so they let me keep a card on file and figure it out later. Very relaxing experience.
The sentiments regarding the difficulty of getting an appointment are correct. However, once you finally are able to go, this location is wonderful! The front desk lady is so welcoming and cheerful, immediately helping to relax you and offer that “spa feeling”. The microderm infusion facial was outstanding, Anna did a great job!
Twice I have shown up only to tell me the person doing my massage was running more than 10 minutes late. I called to cancel my membership and was told that I would have to come in to cancel. I kept pushing to be able to put in my cancellation request in writing and the lady on the phone hung up on me. :(
The poor reviews posted are well deserved. The massages are great, but the red tape working with the manager is a nightmare. She could use a lesson or two in customer service. It would certainly go a long way getting new clients and retaining existing clients. Avoid this place. Enough said
Beware! You can get a massage anywhere in town. The important thing is the Customer Service you receive and Message Envy has the worse Customer Service. They are thieves and will steel your money. Their tactic is to lock you into contracts of 6 months or longer. If you cancel the contract that you rightfully fulfilled by paying ever month, paying in full, but dont use your message every month to save it for future months, they then give you a time limit of something like 30-60 days after you end your contract to use them or you lose them. This is a bad way of doing business and just tells you that they dont retain clients. They basically are okay with taking your money without providing a service you are paying for in return. I lost 2 of the 6 massages paying around $65 per month after ending my contract because i couldnt use them in that 60 day window. It makes no sense to me why a massage place would do this, I cancelled because I still planned on going, just not every month. I will never go back there and you shouldnt either. All my friends in ballantyne will also know about this as I will let them know the practices of this parlor. I suggest going to hand and stone message instead, which is only a mile or two away down Johnston. Dont give massage envy your business.
Tim is the best masseuse I have ever worked with. You can tell how much experience he has from the first moment of the session. Extremely knowledgable about the human body and how to keep it working at its full potential. I stopped going to the chiropractor after I started working with him--he does everything they did and more!
I had a great deep tissue massage at this location by Jordan. Brianna, at the front desk, was both welcoming when I first arrived and also very helpful at checkout. I’m always nervous to try a new place because massages are either a hit or miss- this place was definitely a hit.
The day before a job interview a girl massaged a trouble spot on my upper arm and said it was supposed to hurt to get the spot gone. It was excruciating. She wouldnt stop. I had a 6 black bruise for my interview. No repercussions for her and I was offered $10 off aroma therapy on my next service. ?!?!?!?A different therapist, Tom, told me his sister in law was a rug muncher.... While I was nude, being supposedly pampered. He got sensitivity training.Never, ever again.
BEWARE!!!!! This institution will have you sign a contract for 12 months (automatic bill) and then it will take 4 months to get out while they are still charging you. They dont disclose that you MUST come in and sign a cancelation notice after the 12 months.(mine should have been over in Feb) Once I noticed they billed me for March, (March 25th) I called to dispute the charge. They told me to come in and sign a cancellation notice. Until that is turned in they will CONTINUE TO CHARGE!!! REALLY, that was never disclosed.....Traveling for work I could not get over for a week. Which put me beginning of April. I signed cancellation and took a lost of $49.99 for March. Then I see there is another charge to my credit card for April!! This time for $65.00!! What?? So I called back and they proceed to tell me that I missed the cut off in April so it would be billed for April and May and WAIT it gets better.. They went up from $49.99 to $65.00 conveniently. Does is ever end??? No they then tell me that I only have 60 days to use my credits of 7 massages that they billed me for!!! Please DO NOT GET SWINDLED BY THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate I did!! Lost out on hundreds of $$$$$$$$$$
I wouldn’t recommend. It’s one thing to not be able to get in for an appointment doing Covid times but this issue was a severe problem WAYYYYYY before Covid. I have been a member since 2013 or 14 and I currently sit with 15 credits which mean that a whole year worth of credits bc you can never get in. Not to mention to couple the issue, the staff always has to worst “I don’t give a damn” attitude around. And one of the questioned they always ask when they pickup the phone is are you a member... ummmm WHY bc members get treated like trash also and even members can’t get in unless you book a month in advance like people don’t work
Came as a first time guest and got the worst massage of my life. I was in such pain I had to take off from work the next day and couldn’t even lay down on my back. I asked for lighter pressure and it did not change. LaVida massage in Ballantyne is much better, I wish I never left there.
I will start with the end of my session and work my way back. While checking out I felt pressured to become a member. The person at the front desk asked what is your hesitation and continue to try to sell me funky smelling stuff. So my hesitation.... 1. I was stuck with cold oil during my session. It was so cold I jumped a few times. 2. The room was cold. 3. The therapistss hands didnt do any magic 4. I felt like I was not at Ruth Chris instead I was at Taco Bell. 5. The massage did not focus on my problem areas. After waiting so long to redeem my gift certificate, I was dissapointed.
I have been a customer for a while and enjoy Massage Envy but what I really like now is doing a facial, my first ever earlier this year and it felt incredible. Im going to try the Sugar Foot Scrub because my girlfriend says I need to get rid of the dead skin. If it feels like the facial then Ill be doing that once a quarter. I wish they served a glass of wine/beer before each session...that would be awesome!
After arriving early I was given paperwork to complete 10 minutes after my session was to begin. We began over 20 minutes late and ended only 5 minutes late. This was not the 1st time I had a session end early which started late. Thank goodness I am almost out of prepaids and have ended my membership. I would never recommend this location. Perhaps others are more in top of it, but not the Ballantyne location.
I frequent Massage Envy at Ballentyne. I didnt decide to sign up for a package until I talked with my therapist Daviah. She was concerned about my over all well being and what I wanted from the massage. She made sure my massage experience was enjoyable throughout. Amy H.
The massage was ok, however I got conned into signing up for a membership. When I tried to cancel the membership they would not do it. I had to call my bank to stop payment. There memberships appear to be just a way to con people into a recurring payment that they may or may not need or want.
No same day availability. So whats the point of a massage if it needs to be scheduled for the future? Is this medicine or a pamper session? Need vs luxury service.
I really like the people that work there but the parking is difficult and my last 2 appointments were canceled by them. I am a member and pay monthly so this is extra frustrating. I joined because of an ongoing muscle issue.
The absolute WORST customer service ever. The manager is aggressive, argumentative and has the worst attitude I have ever experienced anywhere. She is also a very poor communicator. The irony of someone like her working in a place that is supposed to promote wellness and relaxation is absurd. Stay away unless you are looking for more stress.

A little pricey but worth it. The accept cash, card, and NCFLEX-FSA. Clean. Nice area, staff, and massage areas. Clean sheets and bed. Heated bed option. Free infused and regular water. Magazines in the waiting area. Several packages to choose from. Pressure area specific. 60min and 90min and 120min sessions available. There may be more but these are the ones I get the most. Foot scrub is ok. Essential oils package is soothing and relaxing. Hot stones is wonderful. The have facials as well. The only knock is the massage is only 45-50mins due to dressing and undressing counting as time lapse. Bree is amazing. Nicole is good. Abeeba is superb(I just butchered that name. Haha) Atmosphere is relaxing overall...
Rating for massage therapist, Jessica, is actually 5 stars.( I just couldn’t give 5 which Jessica deserved because of the initial experience I had at the front desk - Heather 1 star. If you can get past the defensive and rude assistant manager, Heather (who should be required to take customer service training to be in her position), you will have a marvelous experience. The other staff members at the front desk smile, are very nice ....and even offered me a drink of water while waiting. Heather never once smiled or greeted me - or anyone - cordially. She gave off the feeling as if she would rather be anywhere, but there. For my first time at a Massage Envy in Charlotte, I would have left and went to another location, but I desperately needed a massage - my neck and shoulders were hurting. I am glad that I waited because Jessica really took her time and worked out the knots doing a great deep massage. I would recommend her highly - 5 stars for her massage!
I have been in twice to see Sam at the the Ballentyne location in South Charlotte. I have cronic lower back issues that seem to stem from very tight hips. Sam has been able to use his Deep Muscle Message to releave some of the tension. My experience at Message Envy has been outstanding. I would recommend anyone who has not been in to give this location a try. Thanks to Sam for his hard work! Dick

I am very very surprised to see some of these reviews I was a member there and I was always very very happy I probably saw 4/5 different therapist all of them were excellent and I miss this place so I just made it back and I had the pleasure to see Glenda again I am so happy February 12 18 nothing has changed but a few faces up front the owner must be awesome because everything was great cant wait to see you all again

Britney is the only reason I keep my membership. The staff is friendly and welcoming but without Britney Id be choosing somewhere much closer to my home.
