I had the smoked wings which I wouldn’t recommend. And I also think the wings are slightly overpriced. I do recommend the fried Mac and cheese bites though. I may come back and try the traditional wings next and may edit my review at that point but as of now, i think there are better wing spots in Chicago. Staff was excellent and service was great!
Alright, so Im not exactly what youd call a sports bar aficionado, but all my buddies are crazy about The Fifty/50. One night, feeling a bit adventurous (thanks to some green inspiration), I decided to tag along. And let me tell you, its not your typical sports bar vibe – more like a laid-back, updated neighborhood hangout. We strolled in on a quiet night, got seated right away, and then, jackpot – they were doing bottomless wings. Now, usually, the word bottomless raises an eyebrow, but these wings? Absolute game-changers. No kidding. And the waffle fries? Im convinced theyre sprinkled with some kind of magical seasoning and fried in oil from another dimension. Seriously, Im not easily impressed by fries, but these were next level. But, and theres always a but, the service was on the slower side. And I mean, it wasnt busy – Ill say it again, NOT busy. Our server acted like taking our orders was the most tedious task on the planet. Chicago service, its like playing the lottery – this time, we didnt win. Now, lets get back to the good stuff. The Fifty/50 is the kind of neighborhood bar you want in your life. The food? Explosively good. Those wings and waffle fries might just be worth dealing with a server whos moving at a glacial pace. Casual vibes all around, making it the perfect spot to kick back, enjoy some top-notch bar cuisine, and, if youre lucky, catch a game on the side. So, in a nutshell, if youre down for a chill atmosphere, stellar wings, and waffle fries thatll make your taste buds dance, The Fifty/50 is your spot. Just be prepared for the possibility of service thats a bit more tortoise than hare.
Service was quick and efficient. Good place to catch some games, plenty of screens everywhere. The wings were underwhelming. We ordered the Nashville Hot and they werent spicy at all. Also, a little bland. The Buffalo wings were better. The truffle fries, however, were perfect. Will probably go back to try other things on the menu. Grateful that they had some non-alcoholic beer options.
My husband is a transplanted Michigander! My daughter just moved to Wicker Park. We were looking for a place to stop to watch the game and we found this great place. The game was on. There was tons of Michigan fans and it was perfect. The food was great. We suggest the nachos with chicken. It was very clean lots of room three floors. We also had a bucket of beer and my daughter got to enjoy a great dessert. excellent establishment and even better Michigan clean the title!!!
$20 for 6 wings. That’s definitely premium, premium pricing for wings. That’s fine, if you live up to the name “best wings in Chicago”, but their buffalo wings definitely did not. Not crispy, little soggy, definitely not remotely spicy like buffalo should be. First and last time, I recommend going elsewhere- wing lover
Have been wanting to try fifty/50 after always walking by it and reading the different reviews. Our server was very helpful and honest. She helped us to not over order since the portions are big. The wings are not the small little ones so with the sides ordering 25 wings for 6 people was actually sufficient. I don’t have the picture but their nachos were killer! We ate that so fast I didn’t have time to take a picture 😉
So I read best wings in Chicago on the menu, and thought to myself that everyone says that. I was surprised and awed to find that these wings are seriously the best Ive tried in Chicago. They are MASSIVE and the flavors were just juicing at me. They had a great brew selection to pair them with, and my girlfriend was able to get a veggie burger which is usually a deal breaker option on whether or not we get to go someplace together to eat. The vibe was super cool too, very clean, modern, open air view leading out to their patio seating which they had a projector setup at. Very cool 😎, will definitely go back.
Well I had very high expectations for this restaurant as most of the reviews are 5stars. Unfortunately this was not the case for my dining experience. First of all it was my sons 16th birthday and we ordered 50 wings and few APPETIZERS. So this was obviously a lot of food. So they bring out the appetizers the same time as our wings and dinner plates ???? Obviously there was NO ROOM ON THE TABLE FOR ALL OF IT. When asked if we could place our food on the table next to us the manager looked at us like we were OUT OF OUR MINDS. As if there was something wrong with us for wanting to be able to eat comfortably.“NO GUYS THIS IS A RESTAURANT AND I HAVE MORE PEOPLE COMING IN!” So again I have to ask why were our appetizers not brought out FIRST??? The chicken wings were absolutely DISGUSTING. They were drenched in what tasted like PURE VINEGAR . No one wanted to even eat them, all these different sauces and they all tasted the same, like pure VINEGAR. Sorry but I’d never recommend this establishment to anyone. The only thing they should stick to are DRINKS. Ohhh and we all had diarrhea that night. Zero stars if I could.
Great spot to catch a game and hang out on a nice night. The wings are enormous, at least twice the size of anything youll find at BW3s, and gourmet. The open air feel really adds to the overall ambiance.
Their food was terrible, I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich ($17) and it was overly battered and extremely over cooked .. Very greasy.. wasn’t hot at all. My sister ordered the fish pub sandwich ($17) and she asked for cheese on her sandwich. There was no cheese on the sandwich and the waitress came back with a plate of 2 cold slices of cheese. They gave us dirty plastic cups and when we asked for glasses of water instead we were given attitude. Our waitress came off very racist she didn’t want to interact with us at all. Very disappointing.
Known for their jumbo wings, I ordered a 6-piece, bone-in, all flats. NOTE: there’s an additional charge if you prefer all flats as well. The wings were crispy and I was satisfied with the wing sauce I chose: Award-Winning Buffalo. Their waffle cheese fries are also good. Drinks are strong, I had the Naughty Lemonade, (Vodka & Lemonade).
Great bar atmosphere and amazing wings. Stopped in saturday for lunch (1/9/22) to grab some wings and bar food. This place has high quality versions of your every day bar food and also has other menu options for twists if you are feeling a little adventurous. I recommend the cauliflower-bites cheesy fried goodness. The homemade hot sauce is amazing as well as their vast selection of sauces. The service was fast reliable and very friendly. Kitchen staff and managers were super helpful and welcoming. Other things that we had were top notch cheese curds, wings and pub fish sandwich. If you are looking for a place to watch a game, drink a beer and eat some good food this is it. Place is clean lots of TVs and great vibes. Will be coming back soon.
We were looking forward to trying this place out as it was highly recommended. But the food was so greasy it was unenjoyable. Ate it bc we paid for it but it was really not good. We ordered wings, Nashville hot, and 50/50 burger and no one liked their food.
Chicken wings were old, you can tell its just frozen wings with sauce put on them. At these prices you would think they would at least give fresh wings. If you go there just get the 50/50 burger.
Possibly the worst service possible. Waited forever and a day to get drinks and forever and two days to get the food. We were given 3 plates for 5 people. The plates themselves were dirty af and seasoned with the sauces of the previous diner.Got the 25 piece with award winning buffalo , spicy garlic, and pineapple habanero. The award winning buffalo was basically drenched in acid. No flavor beyond being teeth meltingly sour. I have no idea what award they won beyond maybe the dissolving of corpses in barrels olympics. The spicy garlic was indiscernible from the buffalo and was not edible. But I have to say, the pineapple habanero was delicious.Cool place to watch the game. Horrible place to get food.
Hands down this is the best neighborhood spot in Wicker! Bartenders, staff, and managers are the most friendly people. Wings, curds, and quesadillas are some of the favorites. Can’t forget the fireball too! 11 out of 10 would recommend. Wish I could give it 6 stars
This place is a must go to place I loved every moment and the food was off the chain yum I recommend the waffle fries, awesome wings and nachos to die for omg oh and cant forget about the drinks yummers for the pink lemonade with vodka made to perfection will be going back soon and was told on certain nights they have trivia a must go to as well. Loved it 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Matchbox was our planned location for drinks and food to celebrate a birthday but upon visiting the location we found it difficult to get seated due to the booths being too small (we’re heavyset people), but this has never been a problem before. We were relocated to high top tables, but ask to move again because they had a large party coming in an hour and half. We finally got seated and order food and drinks, the appetizers were ok but small and nothing to write home about and the drinks were tiny. The price was what you would except for wicker park with mixed drinks in $15-20. We decided that other bars would better serve us especially after our frosty interaction with whom we assumed was the manager. The only redeeming quality was our waitress who was outstanding and very pleasant as well as the atmosphere of wicker park.
Wings were good, but the Buffalo sauce has a super strong vinegar taste fyi.Also- dont park out front after midnight, they will tow your car 😬
Ill start off by saying that I want to give this place more stars. I think theyre very close to having the best wings in town if they make some minor adjustments. The size, tenderness, and crisp of the wings was pretty much perfect. Unfortunately the sauces left a little to be desired. I think they could offer a few more flavors as well as balance some of their current flavors a bit better. If they did that, Id be here every week.We ordered the 50 wings :p but they messed up our order and brought boneless instead of on the bone... They even brought out bowls for our bones. I understand that mistakes are made but they said they would rush the fixed order but it still took another 45 minutes :/
First time trying and was super excited, unfortunately not what I expected. Ordered online for pick up and specifically requested wings be tossed (they include sauce on the side when it’s to go). Wings were not tossed and no wing sauce was included. The worst part was my wings looked like pieces of charcoal, I had ordered Buffalo bone-in wings and they did not look edible. Manager who assisted with our refund could use some work in customer service.
Great food! I love the wings and fresh sides. The sweet potato fries are a must! I dont drink liquor, so Im not quite sure about the drinks. Staff is pleasant and will check in, but not every 5 minutes, which is great. If they see you looking for them, one of them will come by to help. You never have to wait for your waitor unless you want to. That is what I call, great service. We ate outside, and it was clean and nice. The patio chairs arent too comfy; maybe thats on purpose! You can spend a whole evening there just shooting the breeze with friends and munching away! Enjoy.
Hate to give a review like this but the wings were not very good, at least for $2.70 per wing, and the service was non existent. They were checking on other tables frequently and we didn’t get anything besides water brought to our table until 40 minutes after we sat down. The ranch fries were good but other than that, this ranks pretty low for my best wings of Chicago
Thursday night I dined in. Picked this place because it was open late night. A lot of the places around the area closed by 9:30pm or 10pm but this place closed at Midnight. We were seated by the front of the restaurant and the giant window was open. It was a bit warm in temperature and the AC was not on. The service was decent but our food was not impressive. The apple wood smoked buffalo wings were just okay and a tasted of lemon a bit. I dont think they are worth $27 for 10wings. The Cajun side of fries were a big portion although its under the sides on the menu. They are more like fries seasoned with rosemary, they were not Cajun but they did taste good. The options of craft beers all come in cans, I was not expecting that. I would think a place like this would have more craft options on draft. The Pepsi that we got was flat . I was offered to join their rewards program but I passed since I dont plan on going back.
We paid for our beers and left after waiting over an hour for appetizers. Whatever kitchen nightmare was happening- there was no attempt by a manager to get us to stay or explain their end. I’m sure they’ll find a GM that knows how to run a simple sports bar, but I won’t be back to find out.
Tonight we searched a restaurant in the area, seen the hours and stopped by, unfortunately there was no greeting, no service and no hospitality. We asked the male bartender Do we seat ourselves and He stated anywhere on the main floor not upstairs next we asked how can we order and her said to a waitress … and there was not on the way not was anything communicated… we had to leave, the vibes were reading weird.
Classic sports bar vibes on tap. When they’re on, they’re on — I’ve had some of the most perfectly cooked wings of my life here. Unfortunately, I’ve also had a few disappointments where they weren’t very fresh, but these were the exceptions, not the standards. The service is excellent and friendly no matter who’s behind the bar, even when it’s busy. The beer selections are fairly standard for the environs and everyone should come away with an option they like.Overall, if they improve the consistency in the kitchen, easy five stars. I’d recommend giving them a shot.
Got 24 Traditional wings, and the Nashville hot sauce, as well as Pineapple Habanero, both are awesome separate as well as together. And highly recommend trying the blue cheese, so good. Been going here since 2020 and highly recommend. I do miss all the wings being huge though, and the breading used to be a lil different. Might try changing the fryer oil more often, not sure if that’s it. But love it, highly recommend!
The chicken wings are great. We tried 3 different variants and all were delicious. The burgers were a bit too salty while the blue cheese fries were good. The live music (it was a Saturday) was a bit too loud making it hard to have a conversation at the table.
Id like to consider myself a wing aficionado. So Im always down to try new spots in search of the perfect wing. I found this place on an online list featuring some of the best wings around Chicago and gave them a try last night (10/16/2023) to watch Monday Night Football. I made a reservation for two for 8pm online using OpenTable. Upon entering; the place was poorly lit and exceptionally empty - both not great signs. I was seated at my table with my guest and the next noticeable issue was the stickiness of the table. The waitress was prompt in acknowledging us and bringing water to the table with these cute little pink cups with their logo on them that looked more appropriate for souvenirs. This is also where I noticed the next issue. The cups were deformed and looked like someone had chewed around the top brim of the cup. On the inside of the cup was evidence of pour washing with a white ring of ranch and water on the cups inner lip. I brought it the waitresss attention which she immediate rectified by bringing us glasses and pouring our water from the tap instead. However; she did place the water decanter (which the nasty cups were on top of) back on a table which seemed to be in cue for the next unsuspecting patron. As for ordering; my friend did their 6 wings for $17 and I did their all you can eat wing special. Its $35/person, only available on Sunday, Monday and Thursday and has an allotted 2 hour window. I ended up trying 4 flavors (buffalo, pineapple habanero, spicy garlic and smokey bbq) so I felt it was a fair deal. When you do the all you can eat you can only do their traditional wings (bone in and breaded). My first order was 6 wings of buffalo. The first thing you notice is the smells. Its like aromatherapy if youre a wing lover. Second thing you notice is that these arent small wings. I know everyone is different about that but it was perfect in my book. Last but not least is youll see they arent stingy with the sauce. The wings are coated perfectly and everything is brought hot and fresh to the table. I did like the sauce but unfortunately; this is where all my good remarks end.Actually eating the wings left a lot to be desired. For fresh wings they had no crunch. The breading has totally given out to the sauce. The wings themselves were poorly seasoned if at all. So there was nothing there to carry the experience. Next was the pineapple habanero which I found totally unappealing. There was absolutely no sign of heat - straight pineapple. After that was the spicy garlic. I enjoyed the first bite but every bite after all I could taste was pineapple. So I cant honestly say if that was the sauce or my blown out palette. Lastly I went the smokey bbq. It was really good I must say. Again the wing just couldnt hold up to the sauce. After your first order every order afterwards is brought in servings of 3. Initially I was turned off by this but later saw the practicality of this since I tried flavors I didnt like - so less food wasted. For drinks I didnt do any alcohol. I ordered a Ginger Beer and a Pepsi. Neither were canned but from their tap and both were flat.Regardless of the great deal; the experience overall makes this a place that I couldnt recommend. Fat Pour a few paces down the street is a better option.
Ordered 25 wings for delivery for a friends’ impromptu celebration. The only reason why I’m giving 4 stars is there were only 2 flats in the order (we did not order drums only) and without the sauce the wings are bland. My friends wanted the sauce on the side since some don’t like heat and/or sauce and they said the wings don’t really stand up on their own without sauce. Those who did have sauce however said the two sauces were good (garlic and buffalo). I don’t eat meat but I dipped my fries in the sauces and they definitely have a kick that stays on your tongue for a while lol but they were good. You get a great size container for the sauces on the side with the pan of wings (25 piece). Also wish there was an option for no ranch or blue cheese. None of us eat those sauces and it seemed such a waste to throw the huge container away.
Been here a few times, the wings are a hit or miss if they are good. The bartenders here also can be helpful or rude when you interact with them. Bad experience with a hostess when I asked to be put on the list for a table for 4 and that I will be waiting at the bar for a table to open. The hostess said that is fine and will notify me when a table is available in 20 min. I asked her if she wanted my name to put down, and she insisted she will remember. Not surprised she did not remember and I was never given a table or even acknowledged again. Overall decent place, will be returning, but will keep these interactions in mind.
Ok bar with ok wings that are terribly over priced. Not the best wings in Chicago at all. I would rate BWW over these. Yeah they are big and they give you a health portion of ranch, but theyre so expensive! $28 for 10 wings... They upset my stomach too after, so not sure they were cooked properly.
I’m really not one to complain, but I feel compelled to write a review here. We wanted to try the wings, since they were advertised as the best wings in Chicago. The chicken was very gummy, tough, and still had feathers in it. We couldn’t eat more than 1 or 2. Obviously we were pretty disappointed based on the price of the wings.I will say that the appetizer we ordered and the sauce was on the wings was very good, just very disappointed by the quality of the chicken.
Went to lunch with a couple co-workers. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with ghost pepper jack cheese, lettuce and honey mustard. It was delicious!!😋😋 Both my co-workers had the chicken wrap and they had no complaints. The server was great as well. Very attentive. The owner stop by our table and thanked us for coming in. Its always a great when the owner thanks you for your patronage. I hadnt been here since before the pandemic so glad to know the food is still great. Really enjoyed my sandwich and definitely will go back again.
First off this place has AMAZING wings and fries. Anything negative is almost outweighed by how incredible their sauces were. That being said this place does have a few cons. We went on a rainy Friday night so there weren’t too many other people but it was steady. The service was crazy slow considering that. It took about an hour to get our food, no one ever checked up on us after we did and then it probably took an additional 30-45 minutes after we were done eating to get our check. The music was also way too loud for me. I know it’s a bar but we struggled to have any conversation because you simply couldn’t hear anything over the music. The final drawback to this place is the price. It’s $23 for 10 boneless wings and while they are really good, that’s just a bit too pricey in my opinion. All said and done I think I would go back again to see if I could have a better experience.
We used to love this place. The wings were worth the high price because they were enormous.Tonight, we ordered 18 wings and onion rings for pickup and it was $69, which was a fair deal with the old wings. They failed to tell us on the phone that their wings are now average to small, making this a huge ripoff. No change in price for less than half the food. Unbelievable. We will not be back, what an incredible ripoff.
Burger was not good. Smash burgers ought to be thin, but these were thick and way overcooked. The TVs in the booths are too big to have right next to your head. The service was good and people were friendly, so that was nice.
Decent spot - but the price is crazy for Chicago. Nice place to go for a beer, wings, and football game, but 33+ for 10 wings is ridiculous. The extra spicy wings arent particularly spicy, the ranch spilled in the bag on the takeout order, but otherwise the staff was super pleasant and the food was good for a bar, but not good enough to warrant the price. Edit : I also just had the BBQ sauce which is basically jus. Im not complaining but theres no way this would ever be considered BBQ.
Service was great, but the atmosphere was lacking along with the food. Its a sports bar, which apparently means they will play the sounds of whatever game is on as loud as possible (and the commercials!!). My wife and I got cheese curds and wings, both traditional and boneless. The oil was fresh, and the cheese curds were good. The buffalo sauce and spicy garlic were the only edible sauces. The others we tried were gross. Overall the place is over hyped.
This. Is. The. Spot. The service/staff ranks at the top of what Id hope for - and yes, this is Wicker Park. The bartender, Chad, ran down all the specialty cocktails I could imagine, and did not disappoint my high expectations. Service staff was very attentive and helpful. A simple beer mistake (my fault) was immediately corrected by the man who was obviously in charge, Joe. Joe made me feel like a VIP, the king of kings, and, Im not sure how to say this, but kind of a big deal. I now go here for dinner regularly, and make sure its a stop for my friends in from out of town. Tons of TVs, great food, drinks, and atmosphere.
They poured our margaritas light, food took forever, the waitress was very rude to me for asking about coffee, charges $2 for side salads and sauces also includes gratuity and a %3 additional charge for using a credit card. Seems like a failing business that pinches pennies. Would not recommend spending $20+ for ONLY a burger with hidden charges.
Stopped in for drinks but heard about a recent menu update. Tried a few dishes and everything was flavorful, fresh and filling! Offered great variety and easy to find new favorites at this low key spot!
We had wings and beer on their patio and enjoyed our experience here. Service is great and the wings are big and really nicely prepared (even though they could be crispier). The main issue I had was the spicy garlic sauce. It’s a bit too vinegar forward to the point where that becomes the main flavor. I would ease up on the vinegar and make it a bit spicier and add more garlic. The blue cheese sauce was really nice!
Fifty/50 on division is a nice bar. Clean and friendly service. Beer was cold. I ordered the boneless buffalo wings. Amazing flavor tender and juicy. Will definitely go again. Highly recommend.
Ordered the boneless wings and parts of them were ice cold. seems like they take them out of the fridge and pop them in the microwave and then add the sauce. the loaded fries and Mac burger was good though
Food was actually really good. Neighborhood bar feeling.
If you are looking for wings, this is the place. We tried different dishes all tasty. Some were not to par, but Noone is 100 perfect. A little slow on times and being serviced. But overall, acceptable in todays environment. Enjoy.
Excellent food, drinks and service. Great for lunch, dinner and late night. Great dog-friendly patio. Love the rewards program too. Menu changes seasonally and everything is good.
I didnt eat, I went for drinks and to listen to thy Dj. It wasnt very busy, but it was definitely hard to get the bartenders attention. She didnt seem that interested and somewhat dismissive. Eye contact for acknowledging your guests presence, a hello, Ill be right with you... ZERO ! So you want me to pay $18 for my tequila, Casa Amigos reposado, to be exact, on the rocks and for your annoyed attitude? No, thank you! I did but wont again!
Top notch !Stopped here, because we were in the area & previous reviews/responses just had to see 😃Everyone from door to service super friendly. The place has a perfectly designed decor. TV at every booth !!! 4 more behind barThe wings are well worth it, a must try. Not a generic hot sauce dumped on chicken, but rather a very flavorful thick sauce with just the fight amount of tingly heat.We didnt get the full experience ( went midday afternoon ) but well have to go back during game time !Definitely worth checking out
My experience here was fine, nothing too much to say! Classic sports bar, big portions and the food is pretty solid. 3 stars just because I don’t feel any strong affinity in either way.
If the service was better, this would be a 5. You want wings here. You got wings! Lets start off with what was good. The food was delicious. The Caesar salad was large and delicious. The wings were fabulous. The fries were good. Now, lets talk about these wings. They only have five flavors. Thats a disappointment. I love lemon pepper. That option doesnt exist. However, the hot wings are hot. The spicy garlic wings are hot. The sweet chili wings are unbelievably good and the BBQ wings are good. They have a teryaki flavor as well which we didnt try. However, these wings are HUGE. When I say huge, I mean, they are size of your palm. They are massive. These are wings on steroids. Ive never seen wings this large - EVER. Now that is a great thing if you know it in advance. The pictures dont do it justice for what I saw. I wish the server would have said, these wings are huge. For two people, 25 wings is just way too much. We could have done 10 wings and been full since thats basically what we ate. Getting water was a bit of a pain. Very slow. The bartender was handling our table as well which made her response time very slow. Took a while to get our salad. But the presentation of the wings was excellent. Goes a long way. When I go back to Chicago, I will definitely go there again, but only get the 10 piece wing for two people. Again, excellent wings. Lots of TVs. I look forward to when they can open again fully cause that place must be popping when its in full effect.
Very nice establishment. Great setup for watching the games. The food is good but the chicken wings are overpriced. $3 per wing?! Come on now…Lemonade needs sugar. Nacho plate is fire. The 50 burger is good but it needs to be seasoned. Chill vibes. Definitely a place for the grown and sexy.
The wings were big and lukewarm, the host was rude nasty attitude the waitress was nice the table was sticky even after she cleaned it the drink terrible barely no liquor all syrup and juice heavy ice. Tv was on in certain areas couldn’t watch the games the upstairs was closed place going down hill
Im a big fan of wings, and this place has become one of my top spots for quality wings. The wings themselves are quite large and meaty, and cooked perfectly. The sauces are also great, but the wings are breaded so they end up a little soggy. Im someone who prefers more a crisp wing, so that was my only disappointment. The service was great!
Autumn and Jason were our bartenders. They took amazing care of us. The food was amazing. I tried their hangover burrito and it was delicioussss. Underrated brunch spot!P.S. the wings are still the best.
Great service. Very friendly. Food was really great. Hot and fresh. Sorry I didn’t find sooner. Loved the blackened chicken sandwich. Family loved the Philly Cheesesteak Fake and Ceaser Salads.
Disappointed in the wings today. I love Buffalo wings when prepared well and these didnt meet the standard. They were described as HUGE on the menu and they were average at best. The sauce wasnt Buffalo either. I know its common to describe a half of a wing as a whole wing, but at these prices ... I am going to continue looking for the real thing. BTW, if you want to see real HUGE Buffalo wings, try the Peanut in KC.
Fantastic place. Stopped to eat before a concert. Great food and phenomenal service. The bartender/waiter Chad was amazing, attentive, and very friendly. Awesome atmosphere.
Nice place to have some wings. Flavors seem to taste like they were out of a bottle from a supermarket. Wing were nice size and meaty. Drinks well made but overpriced. Hopefully they wont go out of business. Prices need to drop if items are not handmade on site. Outdoor seating nice homeless people might bother for money...🤷♂️
The wings are really good. They came out fresh, Hot, and extra sauceyy as requested. The environment and vibes were great. The drinks are standard. The service was great as well. This place is definitely now in my top 10 best wing places in Chicago.
This bar has tons of potential but I feel like it’s going through a modern day gender identity crisis. Are you a sports bar? Are you a nightclub? What are we doing here!?I came in on college game day for the evening game and the place was nearly empty. There was a private party upstairs and a few tables occupied. We were told that the open tables had reservation but we opted for a small table in the corner that was, “all we had left…”At no time did this self proclaimed “sports bar” play any game sound. They had a DJ spinning a mix of Lil Wayne, Miley Cyrus, Def Leppard. Good on a Friday night - but - during the games?O those reservations, I almost forgot - no one ever came for them. Like, not a single person, and they turned away large parties for these “reservations.”Another thing that really annoyed me - was the beer selection. Every sports bar that I have been to across the country has some domestic beer offerings on tap. You had none, only craft. Huh? A Sports bar!?On the other hand - the wait staff was really nice. Very helpful and attentive. All in all - the place has potential. Under new management they could really “be” a good sports bar. But right now, it seems like they are allergic to making money and having a crowd in the building.Good luck though. I will continue to walk past on my way to other bars. Maybe one day I will stop in when you turn it around.
Super cute! Its clean and has an open floor plan, the food was great. The music is early 2000s pop punk and there are like 4 different ways they cook fries lol
For all the hype, this was pathetic. My group had to seat ourselves, as the bartender to send over a waitress, who in turn has an attitude the whole time. Poor customer service, theres just better places in the city that will give you a better experience with better food and service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Finally ventured to this place after hearing rave reviews about the chicken wings. They definitely did not disappoint! The cheddar & bacon waffle fries are ridiculously tasty as well.Lots of great food options - salads, sandwiches, wings, burgers, and more.Definitely come to catch your favorite sports, a cold one, and some great pub grub.
Honestly, I do not know how this place is still around, but I was thankful for the outdoor seating. I was able to bring my dog, and social distance date with friends. There are more televisions here than I have ever seen, so if that is something you are into- YOU WILL LOVE IT. If not, then, you might want to check out one of the various bars nearby. I miss when this place was a tapas restaurant. They used to have a dance club or sorts in the basement, and pretty decent food. I also loved the second floor seating- which still exists- but dont eat indoors- there is a pandemic.
The remodel is extremely nice. They did a great job making it brighter and much more inviting. The food is still delicious. Wings were amazing and the burger was great. Only downside was they got rid of their awesome deals (such as the 1/2 price burgers on Wednesday) and the service was slow to begin with.Overall still a great place to grab some delicious food and watch sports
The food was great, we had the nachos and the wings and we really liked it , The only complain for us would be that they didnt have chilled glasses. My beer was served on a plastic cup and the ones served in the glass were warm other than that everything was great. I like a cold one not a warm one.I understand your point and I did ask the server the guy with the funny hat that day and he said not available my 1st beer was on a bottle Stella and it was warm and I change to a tap beers and that was much better.
This place is ok. Overpriced wings for sure. I had a table of 4 (with one more coming) and we were seated outside. During our meal, we were asked to remove one of our tables because more reservations were coming. However, I seen no one else being asked. After kindly rejecting, our service became much SLOWER. As if they were trying to push my party out.On a brighter side, this place has good scenery, and good place to watch games. Just wanted service to be better.
Wow 0/5Never coming back!Worst service ever - Brisket sandwich advertised as smoked brisket and they give you nasty shaved burnt brisket when you complain the waitress Angie just walked away as if nothing is wrong! On top of everything they charged gratuity automatically for a party of 3!This is why people are sick of the tipping culture and how its getting out of hand. They get 2 stars for their buffalo sauce. That was really good!!
This is our favorite bar in all of Chicago! We love the spicy garlic wings and fireball shots. The service is wonderful! We love all the bartenders, servers, and managers. I would give it 6 stars if I could
We held my friends bachelor party here and it was fantastic! We ordered the fifty/50 eating challenge in advanced and it came as advertised! With all the food that came with it, it was definitely worth the value! The atmosphere was great, there was hockey and basketball on the TVs and everyone was having a great time.We all agreed they had some of the best wings weve ever had in our lives. We still talk about them!Cant wait to come back!
Pretty pricey when you add the beer. Ordered a 10 piece wings with the award winning buffalo sauce, which were amazing, and sweat potato fries. Then ordered another 6 wings, with 2 buckets of beer the total ended up being $80. I can go to a few other places and get the same thing and spend about $60. The environment was good and the service was great. So I guess you get what you pay for. Ill definitely go back.
Worst buffalo sauce ive ever had, no spice at all and top notes of just vinegar with water. Wings were cooked fine but man that sauce is bad.
Wings were just awful, dry, no flavor, no crisp, sauces weren’t great and way too over priced for what you’re paying for.
Food is good and I enjoyed the service too
Wings are big and crispy. Not sure if it’s just bc it was takeout, but sauces were nothing special (Buffalo and Nashville Hot). Especially the Nashville, was very watery and not that thick, missing the heat and something else. Want to come in and see if flavors are different when eating inside.
MRS.BONNIE IS TOTALLY COOL SHES VERY HANDS ON & THE STAFF IS ABSOLUTELY WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE ABOUT THE MENU & THE FOOD IS OF GREAT QUANTITY, TASTE & QUALITY.
I try not to do this sort of thing because life’s short but I wasn’t that happy with this restaurant. We ordered the pork belly and it was pretty rubbery, as if it’d been flash smoked. My burger had an off flavor and was over cooked. My friend got wings, and they were okay but severely under sauced. His side celery included an entire celery stalk base, the part that’s supposed to be trimmed off. We had somewhere to be so we just ate a couple bites of our food and left. Our waitress was great and very understanding, and management discounted our meal somewhat. It’s saturday, kitchens have off days, I totally get it, but at this price point, patrons shouldn’t be disappointed.
Best wings in the city in my opinion. They are huge and their regular buffalo is the best. Docked stars for the poor service. Came in to order to go and had a beer at the bar. 45 minutes later I had to inquire about my order and the guy seemed surprised I was waiting. The food was cold and clearly had been sitting there for some time. He asked who took my order but did nothing else.
I had not been here in a while but it is still a very good spot with great food(get the California chicken wrap). We came during happy hour and the service was great and everything well spaces out just, just wish they had some happy hour specials as well since many other spots in the close vicinity do as well. Will be back once sports come on since they turned the TV to face outdoors!
On my first visit there I ordered wings to go on my way home from work to enjoy watching sports on a Friday evening with my wife, who is a chicken wings lover. I must admit, had I not lived in the southern suburbs, I would‘be returned them. The wings were huge, but lacked any flavor without sauce. They were under cooked inside and over cooked outside and battered in what tasted like burnt cornmeal. Overall, not pleased. OVERSIZED, OVERPRICED and DEFINITELY OVERRATED. If you can’t cook chicken that only tastes decent when drenched in sauce, why bother.😠😠Wanted so much to like them. Tried leftovers 2 days later and threw them away. $30.00 dollars later.... NOT HAPPY!!
Amazing wings, if you havent tried their wings you are missing out. Winner of best wings in Chicago thats awesome! Great drink specialsEDIT: Place isnt what it used to be. I used to love coming to this venue but now the vibe is horrible. Management really ruined this gem on Division street. Wouldnt be surprised if it closes within the year.
Wings were just alright—breading was meh, but the biggest disappointment was the inside meat was pretty flavorless. Feel like if you’re doing large wings, they would at least be brined better (or at all?). I ordered pick up so can’t speak much for the service but everyone seemed pretty nice and my order was done quickly.
I ordered the philly fold over. It was like eating a sloppy over priced grilled cheese sandwich with a little meat on it. I was not a fan at all. I ate about half the sandwich and tossed the rest. I also ordered the sweet potato fries to go with it. The fries were really good. I can’t say I would visit this place again. It was a waste of my money and time.
Some of the best wings I’ve had in Chicago. They’re breaded, so a little different than most but very good. They’re also the size of your face. Cheap light beer which isn’t as common as you would think in wicker park. Nachos were pretty good too. Wife commented there isn’t much dark beer on the menu. Mostly hoppy stuff and lights.
This was my first time here and I was there with a big group. (18-20) Our food came out 6 people at a time every 30-40 mins. Keeping in mind everyone basically ordered the same thing (wings). I ended up taking most of my food to go because I was the last group to get my food. If you are looking for a sports bar you might enjoy place but stick with just the waffle fries. I was thinking of revisiting the restaurant to give them a fair chance because it was St. Patricks weekend and March Madness going on at the same time. Thinking maybe it was just a lot going on that day. Well see!
Theyre known for their wings. BUT, they should be known for their burgers. They are really good and big. Havent tried their other food but it must be delicious. Id go again to give it another try on their other selections. I was disappointed on their beer selection. At the time I went they didnt have much or anything on draft. I settled for a Miller High Life, the TRUE champagne of beers!!!
Ordered for pickup. Not only was our order wrong but the wings had no buffalo sauce on them nor were we given sauce on the side. We found multiple hairs and overall the wings were subpar and expensive.
Wings tasted good but they weren’t crispy (actually quite soggy). Ordered them for delivery. Maybe they got soggy on the drive over. Also they’re expensive at close to $2 per wing. They’re big but definitely not that big.
The food was decent but the service was AWFUL. We had a blue haired waitress that was super rude, took forever to come to our table (even though they werent very busy), and then needed to be asked several times to bring us what we asked for. Definitely wont be back - some of the worst service in a long time. They need to do a better job of training their staff in customer service!
I ordered 16 Applewood smoked wings, i think 1/4 of them were leftovers from yesterday that were reheated! If you claim to have award winning wings then every batch you sell should taste as good as they were when you presented them to the judges. The waitress was nice. She even tried to replace my over-smoked wings but the cook sent the same thing out.For 30 bucks = YUCK!!
Overpriced and overrated. I was NOT impressed. Not only do you pay a ridiculous amount of money but how do you order Buffalo wings and not mix them in the Buffalo sauce? They gave me dry wings and put the sauce on the side. Not to mention the cheese fries and onion rings were soggy.
Good wings and burgers. Decent happy hour specials too. Ive been going on random wednesdays with my daughter and mom and the bar tender whos there is super sweet and always takes care of us great...even tho shes by her self.
We are not from Chicago so we looked up a place with good chicken wings. This was one of them with good reviews. So we checked it out we ordered the battered califlower, sweet potatoe fries, and smoked chicken wings. Everything was good expect the wings! They were over cooked and horrible dry. The first wing I went to eat was hard as a rock. They forgot our sauce for the wings as well and there was only one waitress serving food so it wasnt easy to get her attention. When I complained she copped an attitude and stormed off to get a box for the wings ! Smh I had to argue that we werent paying 25$ for a 16 piece hard as a rock wings !!!! Never again
I want to start off with saying our waitress was great. She checked in frequently enough and was super nice.-1 star because they have a fake Philly cheesesteak on the menu, but dont have an actual cheesesteak. I asked to make sure, and she told me that thry can substitute the mushrooms with chicken or steak, but it wouldnt be cooked like a traditional Philly cheesesteak.-1 star because the burgers (Fifty Burger) were super dry, the wings were so large the meat wasnt cooked thoroughly, and the breading on the wings didnt stick to the meat whatsoever.
Awesome cheeseburger! Service was super quick and the restaurant wasnt crowded at all on a weekday. Beers were large and they had a good selection. I will definitely be coming back here for a weekday lunch.
Great place, amazing wings and a super friendly staff. Chad and Matt were awesome. Highly recommend if youre in the area. Also one of the only sit down places in the neighborhood open for lunch. UPDATE: still excellent service and running good specials
Have been coming here for the longest food is always great i cant complain especially their wings! but recently the staff has been really rude, from being ignored by the server from even getting an attitude from the host. Will definitely come back but for cary out
Delicious! Great service! Polite staff! Clean and beautiful environment! Quality for what I paid was great! I just wish I would have been able to bring home the red plastic fifty50 cup my beer came in. I didnt ask but it would have been nice.
I hosted a get together of 10 ladies (at two separate tables) on the Fifty/50 patio and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service. Matt and Courtney went above and beyond to be sure we had everything that we needed and even made off menu accommodations for dietary restrictions. The burgers were wonderful and drinks were great. Can’t wait to come back!
The wings here were honestly very below average. They were soggy, chewy, not tender at all. The sauce was also subpar and left something to be desired. I bought a cookie at the end and Im not sure how old it was -- definitely made me ill. Service was very friendly though. I would not return for the food, but maybe just for a beer.
We had a 7 pm reservation but finished our day early--I called to see if we could come early & was told they would hold a table for us. We had aps, cocktails & the 4 Courser sandwich--it was Fabulous! Wish I could have finished it--must try! Our son ordered 2 sliders (they have PB&J!). Super friendly service. Will definitely come back.
Wow! This place has really gone down hill. You could tell they really need a manager. Empty beer coolers, out of product, long waits for basic food orders when there wasnt anyone else in the restaurant.
Our waitress was so nice and friendly. We ordered 2 beers and a dessert and she let us sit there to watch the ND vs. Michigan game for all night. We had already eaten dinner so we were super stuffed. But the outside bar is excellent for a cool summer night or fall night. The place is crowded and popular but not suffocating. Its a great neighborhood bar with friendly staff :)
Clean sports bar with below average service. Reasonable prices on their drink offerings (though few draft beers), but the food is quite pricey. The buffalo and tangy bbq sauces on the wings are the best anywhere though with unique and rich flavors. In regards to space they cram a lot of seats and TVs in a tight space and there is just one toilet.
Update : Not sure whats going on? This is an update for sep 2022 and I think 50/50 is going through a bit of a rough time. The prices for food is really High and kind of ridiculous and the quality has definitely changed not sure what vendor theyre using but definitely Lower quality but yet A Higher Price and the music was way too loud than usual and not only could I not hear the game but I couldnt even hear my friends talking across from me at my table. Most of my friends and other many large groups that have been coming to 50/50 for years since high school all agreed that well wait after the holidays to see if the quality and service has gotten better, but I wish you the best of luck hopefully next time it not a disappointment.
Honestly, they have the best wings in Chicago. Im a huge fan of their buffalo boneless chicken wings. If youre not in the mood for wings, they have a great selection of burgers or a delicious California chicken wrap. I suggest you upgrade to the waffle fries or sweet potato fries.Great for watching sports! The atmosphere, food, and drinks make it the best all-around sports bar in Chicago. Another thing I really love - youll notice the Manager, Justin, always walking around making sure people are happy!
A bit pricey for what is offered. With that being said, the food is outstanding especially compared to the crazy amount of competition on the street. Fast service and you do not have to fight a crowd that is often at the other local spots in the area. Highly recommend their burgers which I have ate over 20 times!!!
Dare I say... Best wings in Chicago? There, I said it. They have a great selection of sauces and there is always a good chunk of meat on every traditional style wing!Even when Ive ordered from here Im given the sauces and wings separately so the wings arent soggy upon arrival. My mouth is watering just writing this review!I highly recommend this place to watch any Chicago sporting event too as they have a second floor and a basement - this place is huge!
Everyone here is lovely and they always remember us! The custom burger is fantastic and the soft pretzel is a myst
Very bland food . And terribly slow service . They may have only had two people working . I wanted to love this place but probably won’t return .
Went to this establishment a week ago before a concert at Subterranean. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, enough that i tipped EVERYONE. If youre a wing lover, as i am the hotter the better, definitely try the Nashville hot dry rub....i will definitely be returning. (Oh, and i gave 4 stars because who wants 5 really?, only down from there)
Wings!! If you love wings, these are huge and very tasty. Tons of great flavors to try with them. Great place on the outskirts of downtown Chicago.
This is a nice place with pretty good food. Sports bar vibe, and I know they try to keep it classy. But the place always feels a little too small and cramped, the prices a bit steep, and the service a bit lacking. I was once sitting at the bar when the bartender spilled my beer in my lap. She apologized and refilled my drink, but my clothes were soaked. Whats worse is the manager seemed to be sitting nearby and saw it all go down, I was kind of expecting at least a discount on my dinner, if not another drink on the house cosidering the inconvenience of being soaked in beer. Aside from that one bad experience, I still like this place!
It has great food. GREAT upscale sports bar. I was friends with the Executive Chef there. The (acting)GM came to our table and made small talk. Later myself and the chefs husband step outside for a moment and when we came back in the(acting) GM started grill us with questions as if we walked into the wrong place and did not belong. Because he forgot he met us and ignored us as we step out but he sure did notice the two black guys when we came back in. Just Saying
Fifty/50 is a good spot on a weekday, especially during lunch hours. But weekends and certain nights, you can almost forget finding a table unless you have reservations. And given Ive been here numerous times with a reservation, sometimes even that falls through. Ive been told twice that they did not have a table ready to accommodate my reservation and had to wait. Its a bunch of spots on this stretch of Division but this seems to be the spot thats always the most crowded. So if you are single and looking for a meeting spot, this is your spot. The pros of this place is the food and drinks. Everything here is reasonably priced and the quality of the food is pretty good. Its also a pretty good pour drink-wise (though I mostly order beer). The cons of this place is definitely the service. Nothing is more frustrating going to a place with a hr long wait, just to walk around the place and see tables reserved for hours on end. And its hardly any area to move around on the main floor and upstairs. So if you have a large group, I wouldnt recommend it unless again you are going during this off peak hours.
The service could use some work. We were seated and told our waitress would come, but she never came. The bar tender finally took our order. Wed been here before so we knew the food was yummy. However, we had to flag someone down for assistance to get our bill and a box to go. I literally had my hand in the air and at least two waitresses looked at me and kept walking. My husband made the comment that it seemed like the staff was intentionally ignoring me. We might order to go in the future, bit we likely wont sit down to eat, although the last time we ordered to go, they got the order wrong.
Hands down, the best wings in Chicago! But dont take my word for it, it has already received this recognition from publications and such. The chicken itself is awesome, and the sauce is simply top-notch. There are a few good wing spots in Chicagoland, but here and there I will specifically crave the Fifty/50 wings. And of course, they must be paired with one of their mac-and-cheese dishes. So good! They have also received high praise for their burgers, although I have not tried one for myself yet.I have never gone here and received bad service. Last time I visited, we had a large group, that all arrived a different times, and our server was patient and attentive. Every time I have visited, the servers have been knowledgeable, but laid back, which adds to the sporty, comfortable atmosphere. Its a great place to watch a game. In fact, now that i think about it: every time I have been here was to eat wings and watch the Bears, Hawks, or Sox! I will say that I prefer the downstairs to the upstairs, as I feel a little secluded when I have been upstairs.Overall, check this place out if youre looking for great bar food, and a place to catch a game!
Worst experience I had at a bar in a while. Great food but the service we had was absolutely horrible. My brother and I went to go sit at a table and was asked to move cause the table was reserved. Okay no problem, so they found us a table in a little corner stuck between two big groups that were there. Manger said the hostess will take care of us shortly, 15 minutes later we are just watching the hostess just continue to talk to the bouncer, and ignore us while we watch the same manger and other waitresses continue to just pass us up. So after a while I continued to try to get the mangers attention, I literally had to get off my seat and chase him across the bar. I finally caught his attention and told him we have been there for over 15minutes after moving us and not one person had attended to us or at least gave us a glass of water. The manger responded by saying well thats fair Ill try to take care of that. In what world is that fair ? We like the food and drinks but the service from some of the staff was horrible. I personally work at a restaurant myself and there was definitely a better way to take care of that situation. Really makes me reconsider going there ever again.
The staff is efficient, friendly and nice. The service is fast and attentive. The food is delicious and sizeable. My favorite portion of the menu is the Whats your name again? It is a great way to start any Saturday or Sunday. The wings are some of the best in the city.
This place is on Division so you should expect it to be loud even when it is not full of people. I have been here a few times and I remember the wings were amazing a few years ago. Now I have come back 2 more times this past few months and the wings have no flavor. Maybe it is the lack of sauce they put on them. All I tasted is breading. The smoked wings do have a ton of flavor but they are small. The bacon bites did not live up to the expectation of something called bacon bites. The worst part was the servers were eating off the plates that came up from the kitchen and there were ants crawling on our table.
If you can’t be live at a sports game, may as well go to a sports bar to watch them and the Fifty/50 is just that. Where else can you go for huge wings and to see our Sox play ball? They also have a great beer list and many great food options including vegan and vegetarian.
Love this place. I dont go all the time but I make it my personal place, when its just my special day to myself. They have a Turkey burger with sweet potato fries that comes with two sauces that is.....O!!!! so good. Also they have good drinks.
This is a good place to watch some games three levels of bar, the food is good but dont short yourself and get the smoked wings by themselves definitely just get the battered ones. Id rate it with five stars but the wings are so overpriced that its a little cost prohibitive.
First the good: Food is great, especially the giant sized wings. Drink specials. Lots of TVs. Three levels. Good wait staff. Now the bad: Parking is tight. Cell coverage is terrible inside for whatever reason. They do have free Wi-Fi though. It does get crowded and tight inside. Still highly recommended.
I usually go here for TNF because the vibe is always good and those garlic wings are the best wing in town. They have a really good happy hour and watching any important game there is always fun!
Food was great, however the service was horrible. Waitress forgot to put my order in, after waiting an extra 20 minutes for the food, we realized that they had cheated us in the amount of wings ordered. When we brought this up to the managers attention, he was very rude and all he said was what do you want me to do, bring you the other wings? Umm yes! Jerk! I think these type of bars forget that customer service is very important, especially in such a competitive market!
It was a nice bar great food it was busy st. Pattys Day so I will have to say they should of had more servers on board for sure tables were not being turned properly. Food was good and when we finally did get out server he was very cool and on point so that made things better .
Sometimes we got some errors in our orders, but I think they have the best burgers and chicken wings that I tried in Chicago so far! Sometimes it gets too loud with music and it could be difficult to talk with your party.
Went here for brunch on Sunday, food and service was great-we sat outside. Their skillets are pretty awesome and big portions. Waitress was a really nice and attentive. Definitely will be back.
Theres a sandwich here called the Salisbury fake I believe. A vegetarian sandwich but SO delicious!!!! I absolutely would recommend you patron this establishment and try that sandwich. You will not be disappointed.
Love this place! Best wings in the city by a landslide! I come here fairly often and always receive good service by the staff. Check out their weekly specials and be sure to join the loyalty program for perks!
High quality service and a delicious meal in a fun vibe for all ages. There is something on the menu for everyone. No doubt, a great deal of care goes into every plate. We will definitely return to Fifty/50.
Very very generous staff. We waited just a bit longer than we should have for our food (but really not even that long) and they apologized and said it was on the house and even gave us a free round of drinks as well. So not necessary but it was very nice of them. Will definitely return!
Stopped in here before Riot Fest for some food. I opted for the Four-Courser, which was a sandwich featured by Adam Richman. It was a ridiculous amalgamation of pulled pork, fried jalapenos, mac-and-cheese waffles and more. Some of the elements tasted OK on their own, but as a sandwich it was about halfway in that I realized maybe it wasnt the best idea to combine all of these things. The beer selection was just OK. The service was somewhat slow, despite it being super quiet when we were in there. Its OK. No major complaints, but nothing special, either.
Wings were not good, buffalo sauce tasted watered down and vinegar flavor stood out the most - perhaps one of the worst buffalo sauces Ive ever had.
Famous award winning wings were not great, either the chef added too much butter milk or the chicken was old, but my wings were sour. In addition because of the huge size the skin was burnt and left a bad texture in my mouth.
Not many options and especially nothing that is spicy. Things here were only pricy and not really worth it. The place wasnt really clean and the service was just alright at best. The fries were good tho.
Eddie is the man, this place was awesome. Good food good drinks good people. Highly recommend!
Solid place to watch a game. plenty of tvs on both floors. food was better then expected a refined version of typical bar food. staff was great. could have more local beers on draft but overall solid sports bar.
From the management to the wait staff the hospitality and service are excellent. Be prepared for active time socializing while enjoying the great food. I especially love the bread that I understand is created by the restaurant groups bakery. In any case the food is great and the atmoshpere is fun to be around.
Came here to watch the hawks game and it is definitely the place to be. There were tons of people here. It is very noisy but the good thing is they play the sound from the TV so you can hear what the announcers are saying. The food is just ok. They were very accommodating as we had a large group of 6 and we had no problem getting a table even though the hawks game was playing.
Came all the way from Iowa to have lunch with friends and requested a hot wing spot. Both flavors hit the spot, Spicy Garlic and classic Buffalo. Good amount of meat with the right amount of crisp. Will be back.
Okay, this review is strictly based on my opinion (which should really be considered a fact) on the buffalo wings. Theyre supposed to be some of the best in the city but boy was I wrong. Now mind you, I have not tired their traditional bone in so this is only based off of their boneless wings. The boneless wings were probably one of the worst tasting chicken wings Ive had not just in Chicago, but in my life. Dull in flavor, the breading was flat and felt like cardboard. I mean, if I owned the place, I would be embarassed to even sell those things to the public. Now I can USALLY get passed the chicken (This time I couldnt) as long as an amazing sauce makes up for it. Here where the real disappointment came from....the sauce tasted ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like buffalo. It was like a tomato based sauce. I couldnt even imagine what something like that would taste good with but definitely not those wings. Shameful. The tomato paste (Lets not even call it buffalo sauce because it really isnt) did not even absorb through the breading (Or cardboard texture, if you will) and just hit the bottom of the plate. I literally almost laughed because I could not believe my eyes after reading such positive reviews. I ALMOST feel like whoever tried those boneless things should be entitled to a 100% refund. Do yourself a favor and just avoid the boneless. Im still in shock and probably wont even give the rest of the place a try since I am that disappointed but its alright. We all make mistakes sometimes. Those buffalo things were their mistake.
Sat outside at night on their patio and a giant extremely bright screen played advertisements the entire time. When asked if we could turn it off or reduce the brightness, the waitress was very nice and politely apologized explaining that we weren’t the only ones to complain but that she didn’t have any control.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!You have a choice between airy indoor as well as sidewalk seating. Daily specials are a big hit!! The food is good! The service is great!! The drinks get you where you need to be!!
This might have been the worst place Ive ever eaten at. We were sat upstairs which was fine but then ignored for the next 20 mins, my water cup was left empty for atleast 40 mins while there was other staff upstairs not doing anything. It is a very frat boy place, we came to watch the game and eat wings and were very disappointed with the service. I ordered a cocktail and it was the worst drink Id ever been served. And also the toilet did not flush. Never going back.
Talked my wife and son out of going somewhere else so we could go here because I liked it when we went in the morning once. This time it was a Sunday late afternoon and it was busy. So the street level was packed and the hostess sat us up stairs which was fine other than a big fan blowin on us on a cold day. We waited...and we waited...and we waited...and we even waited some more and no one waited on us. Not even a glass of water. There were other people up there eating and we saw a girl on the other side of the room come and grab some plates but we were invisible. I finally went downstairs and spoke to a bartender who assured me hed have someone come up and take care of us. So we waited and waited....well you get it. finally I said screw it lets go somewhere else. I mentioned to the blonde hostess what happened and it was like a oh well response. We went a few doors down to The Big Pour where the food and drinks were great and the service was top notch. Totally disappointed in this place. I tweeted them before doing a public review but no response.
I came here to watch some college football, eat some good food and that is exactly what I got. Sometime ago I noted The Fifty/50 as being a college football supporting sports bar which led me to bookmarking it, but really didnt expect on visiting it this evening after contemplating another visit to Macs Wood Grilled. I stepped in hesitant, but got comfortable once I sat at the bar to get a feel. You can also give the assist to the server Dan, and a couple of drunk middle-aged men who entertained me as I got a feel of the bar while looking around. The Fifty/50 is a fancy looking sports bar with sort of a club feel. It has that open window style and patio seating with a television actually pointing outside the bar towards the patio as well as many other televisions inside for your enjoyment.Even though the Illinois Fighting Illini vs Nebraska Cornhuskers game was not the primary game being showcased I was happy they atleast had it on one of the televisions. It kept me excited as I watched the Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Georgia Bulldogs game which was the primary game being showcased on majority of the televisions. Both were actually games I preferred to see.As for the menu, it actually took me a while to get a feel of it because I wanted a reason to return for something other than what I would choose, plus I didnt want to leave and go elsewhere. I bounced between looking at several options noted in the prime burgers, sandwiches and wraps, and soups + salads sections with my eye on the fried chicken sandwich which was listed in the sandwiches and wraps section. Outside of the fried chicken sandwich, the mother earth (vegan), sliders, and the turkey burger caught my eye on their menu. All three definitely sounded tasty! As for the fried chicken sandwich, it was huge and delicious! I literally had to open my mouth wide during every bite. I ended up finishing it unexpectedly, but prior to receiving it from the server Dan, I gave him that look as though I would be needing a to-go container. After eating I ended up ordering a Roots root beer which was recommended by Dan, as well as Roots Handmade Pizza. Roots Handmade Pizza is owned by Greg Mohr and Scott Weiner, who are actually the owners of The Fifty/50. Of course me being a pizza lover I instantly bookmarked Roots Handmade Pizza for a future visit. My cell phone signal was terrible inside of this bar; most of the time I had one-to-two bars which quickly drained my battery as I used it mostly to Yelp. Some advice! If you are an avid Yelper like myself I recommend using their wifi access which all you would need is their guest access code.Like many of the other bars along this strip your only option for parking is neighborhood parking which can seem like a witch hunt, depending on what time of the day it is. Where you park at may set you a few blocks from the bar, but nothing too excruciating. And be sure to note any signs in the neighborhood because certain spots require you to have a certain residential parking permit to park between displayed hours. I say that because I recieved a ticket for $75.00, but you know what? Atleast it was that instead of my vehicle being towed. And lastly, other than the Fighting Illini losing to the Cornhuskers I enjoyed my visit overall (vibes, interaction with staff, and food ordered). Do I recommend The Fifty/50? Yes indeed I do! And on another note I am not a drinker, but I did note on the menu that drinks are cheaper during happy hour. Enjoy!Thomas G
Best burger in town. Tried The Heaven and it was delicious. Sweet potato fries were the best. They were served with the sweet potato ketchup and it was to die for. Drink specials were plenty. Definitely recommended!
Service is great, friendly, and pretty fast. I appreciated the staff there so much because they really take the time to answer your questions. Definitely want to come back to try some of their other menu items.
Menu says “Award winning buffalo sauce” that’s false advertising. Sauce and wings were Mid. Plus they took forever to come out.
Great Pub Grub place. Friendly staff. The wings and sliders are very tasty. Excellent beer selection. Parking is tricky North side of Division street has neighborhood parking til 6p. South side neighborhood is all permit only. Some limited parking on Division. Why not play it safe and is Lyft or Uber. Across street.from. Paisanos if you like Italian its great for dinner then stop by 50/50 for a nightcap.
My go-to sports bar when I’m in Wicker Park. Great place to catch a Bulls game, there are TVs everywhere. Check out their wings, they are amazing.
Had a great time, as usual, with my bartender/server Jon! Unfortunately, he was ‘flying solo’ LITERALLY! Full admiration for the way he handled the bar AND tables to insure the customers were taken care of. Wow! Saw a manager come out for a few minutes and then disappear. Brought a friend for the first time and she even noticed the lack of leadership. Fingers crossed it’ll be better next time.-Tosh
Server was awesome, and super accommodating. Our family came to visit from Columbus, Ohio so the Michigan thing was a bit of a turn off though! 😂😂😂 In all seriousness, we enjoyed the service, the food, and the atmosphere and would definitely recommend. Thx.
My roommate and I were killing time before her family landed at Ohare, and stopped in for a quick bite to go. It was 1pm on a Thursday and most of the other bars on Division stopped serving food at that point, and were very rude about letting us know. We walked into Fifty/50, and ordered without a problem, and they even had us take a seat and gave us some water. We felt very welcome, and were happy with our food.
Yesterday I had visited Fifty/50. Overall I thought the place was great. We had a great time until it was time for our checks to be given back after we paid. At the end of dinner we decided that we were ready for our checks our server gave them to us, we paid and he took them to charge everyone. I was expecting our original waiter to come and hand checks back I guess he was busy or something because he sent a woman named Jessica who we hadnt met She called everyone except me by first names and gave everyone except me their checks back. I was the only person to payed in cash and I was expecting some change back. After I didnt receive my change back I went downstairs and found my waiter and asked him what happened to my check/ change he told me that he didnt know what happened to my check and also told me that he didnt have change he attempted to hand me a $1 and I told him that that wasnt enough that he owed me more he said again that he didnt have change. I didnt noticed that the woman Jessica who bought the checks to us after they were paid was sitting right there she told me that she gave my check to one of my co-workers she claimed that she asked everyone if they paid with cash and he told her yes and so she handed him my check. That was untrue because she called Everyone by their first name except me. I never heard my name called thats how I was able to recognize that she didnt have my change so she told a bold-faced lie. As we walked back downstairs she told me that she gave it to one of my co-workers. The co-worker who she claimed she gave the check to was gone. She was so nonchalant about the whole deal. I told Jessica that I was still need my change back because its not my fault that she could not locate my check or change. Me and her walked back to the bar where she was sitting and my waiter was working she reached in her purse grabbed $3 threw it at me and said its only $3. So now I realize that she took my change and pocketed it. Why else would she give me $3 out of her purse? Why would she conveniently have $3 and thats the exact change that I was missing? Why would she give me $3 when she wasnt our waitress? Why would she give me $3 of her own money? Brought me to the realization that this lady pocketed my money and was upset because I asked for my change. It wasnt her place to take my money she thought I wasnt going to ask for it because to her it was only $3. I had already tipped the waiter because their gratuity was tacked on to the bill. She took it upon herself to keep my money and thought that I wasnt supposed to ask for it back how insane is that?I noticed that this restaurant has a lot of great reviews and theyre supposed to have the best chicken in Chicago how can a place with such great reviews have such poor staff?I felt very disrespected that she reached in her purse threw my money which she stole from me in my face as if I was wrong for asking for it back. I was very hurt and offended by her actions. She never apologized and she was very nasty and rude. Ive never seen anything like this in my life. I visit Division Street all the time and Ive never been treated like this before at a bar. I did speak to one of the managers and he was nice he explained that if I were to come back he would take care of me. After I left I felt even worse I felt like she got away with stealing and disrespecting me I feel absolutely terrible about the whole ordeal. Something needs to be done about this young woman she should lose her job. I should have got my money back for the meal. I was so frustrated I didnt think of this at the time. How would they feel if I would have just pulled a dine and dash? Well the waitress basically did that to me she took my money put it in her purse. How many other people has she done this to? This is totally unethical and unacceptable. Make sure you get your change back after dining at this place because apparently they will pocket your change. Is not about the money its about the principal.
Wings were amazing! Came for MNF and it was perfect- not too busy at all.
Great spot to watch a game. In the summer the patio is hoppin and theres plenty to keep you entertain outside of whats on the tv.Wings are good, sometimes a little fatty. The burgers are better. Highly recommend the Big Herd burger.
Awesome staff and great specials. One of the few old local hangouts still thriving on Division! Winner of best wings in the city for years for a reason!
Food is good and great selection of beer. Wings are huge and flavors are unique. Cocktail menu is a little basic.
Hands down the best wings I have had. Their burgers are delicious and the sweet potato fries are just right. Definitely recommend.
This is really annoying. I had their food once, and it was good. With my schedule, I was planning to go on Easter. I called 2 days in advance to ask what their hours were. The person who answered didn’t know what day Easter was, so I told her. She then said they were open normal hours, but they weren’t. Really annoying. They got a second star because the one time I went they were good, but this seems like managerial incompetence to me.
Best wings in Chicago! We love this place. Always phenomenal service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend the smoked wings.
Had a great time. Half price appetizers during happy hour and $5 kettle one drinks. Have been here before and will continue to do so. Bartenders and staff were pleasant and courteous.
So loud we had to leave. Couldnt have a discussion and it got so loud my kids complained their ears hurt. Asked if they could turn down the games and music, and our server told us they wont. She commented people ask her to stop yelling.Like the burgers, but there are many other places to go which wont cause hearing damage.Your ears shouldnt ring after leaving a restaurant. Its a place for eating and socializing, not a rock concert.
Great wings !!!!! Great flavor !!!! Crispy. Bartender was super friendly to a new out of town customer. Definitely worth it. Hope to be back !!!
Skirt steak marinade was great but paid $7.00 to add 1/4 cup to nachos making them a total of $20.00. Over priced and rude female staffer
I heard this place was really good for burgers and bar food, etc. Finally went and tried it and unfortunately wasnt that thrilled. I expected to be a little more wowed. Dont remember what I had (thats how okay it was) and my boyfriend ordered some weird burger against my better judgement lol smh. I will say thats his fault because hes kind of picky in the first place. Maybe Ill give this place another try in hopes of being proved wrong...Suggestions for next time???
Decent food, decent sized beer list. Unfortunately, music is too loud and the beer list is basically all pale ale and cider. Out of the 30 beers, 21 were one of those two types. Mix it up, please!
