This location is not reliable at all. I scheduled an appointment and they called the day of to say my masseuse went to the dentist and now is in too much pain to give me a massage. They rescheduled me for the next day and told me the new masseuse was also medium to firm pressure. When I arrived the masseuse told me herself that she was light to medium and during the massage I could tell she was definitely on the light side and unable to do firm pressure at all. When I told the front desk at the end of my session, the manager, Erica, was extremely helpful and gave me a second time guest pass to try someone who was more firm pressured, which was super appreciated. I scheduled my second appointment and they called the day of to say they had to reschedule because my masseuse got sick. Then they rescheduled me for the next day, but called the next day to cancel and gave the same excuse that my new masseuse was sick and needed to reschedule. I can understand one time this happening and I can even be patient with twice, but THREE times??? Thats unacceptable. You would think they would present better service to someone they want to commit to being a member but clearly they must not value new members.UPDATE: They asked me to reach out to them directly, so I submitted my complaint through their system link that they mentioned below. They system said I should hear from someone within 48 hours, but its been a week and I havent heard from anyone.
I booked an appointment a month ago and when I showed up was told they have no record, could not access their global network (or read it apparently), and was offered no apology only attitude and an offer to reschedule. Left a message for a return call for corporate and the manager (if they get it) and will NOT be returning to this location. Note this was after setting up online account and purchasing gift card.UPDATE: I received a reply from corporate. Each location is owned by an individual franchisee. They escalated my email Saturday morning to the franchise owner and advised they have 24 hours to reach out. It is now Monday afternoon and to date, I have received no email and no phone call. The substandard copy and paste response below is unacceptable and posted on every poor Google review.UPDATE: They reached out via phone and offered my husband and I both comp appointments. We went to our appointment this evening and both the front desk staff and massage therapists were wonderful!Im still a little frustrated that the appointment was originally lost and that several reviews dating back had the same complaint, which had not been addressed and that we got such a runaround before the location reached out, but the person who reached out and the staff this evening definitely made extra effort to make sure we had a positive experience.
Avoid this business at all costs. DO NOT give them your credit card, or sign a contract.My wife cancelled her month to month contract in December, following the proper procedures for doing so.Massage Envy continued to bill our credit card and even added a tip to the last bill when my wife had paid the therapist her tip in cash.We disputed the charges, and they eventually were removed.Now, 4 months later, they bill us again ! ! ! We havent been near there since the first of the year.I had to sit on the phone for 20 minutes to dispute the charge, and now wait 15 days to see if it gets reversed.Their Therapists are great. Their office staff is rude. Their billing person rarely takes calls, and it is even rarer for her to return calls.STAY AWAY ! ! ! Take your business somewhere else.I was told the only way to keep them from billing our card is to close the account.What they are doing is akin to theft ! ! ! We didnt buy anything and they are charging us.NEVER AGAIN !

I came to the building to schedule an appointment 3 days ago. The operating hours are placed on the door but no one inside. I assumed due to COVID-19 they were working with a client and locked the doors for safety of the clients inside. WRONG I stood there for 15 minutes also while calling and no one answered the door nor phone. I left a voicemail and left the building. I get a call two days ago to say hey we got your message would you like to schedule an appointment I said yes a deep tissue for as early as I can get. The young lady booked me for today at 6pm. I am currently standing outside the building once again and the same thing happened no one answered the phone or door and I’ve been waiting for a scheduled appointment for the past 20 MINUTES!!! This is by far the WORST customer service and business establishment I have ever been to. Inconsiderate, unprofessional, poor communication, and false advertisement. DO NOT book or even consider booking with them you will be highly disappointed.I wish I could give it zero stars but they wouldn’t allow me to do that for the review.
This is the most unprofessional business I have had the displeasure of dealing with. The manager, Lisa, does not return any calls, will not speak to you on the phone if she happens to be in when you call, which is very rare. I have tied unsuccessfully for over a month to cancel my membership. I even went to another location and they called on my behalf, and still was of no use. My last appointment was cancelled, but I was not notified until I walked in for the appointment. I was told the therapist I was scheduled with no longer worked there. It seems as if they would have scheduled with another therapist instead of cancelling the appointment. I will be happy once I finally get my cancellation papers, my refund, use up all my visits and be free of this business. So very disappointed.
Very good and attentive staff. I enjoyed my 2 hour session with a massage and facial. The massage therapist did seem a bit rushed, because she was late starting which I was just sitting in the lounge. So, I think my session was cut short because of that. The facial lady was amazing. My face looks and feels amazing! She talked through everything she was doing and made sure I was completely comfortable. She gave an awesome hand and arm massage. I would say that Massage Envy as a whole is a bit on the pricey side if you dont have a membership. Who wants to get stuck in a 12 month contract? That is why Im saying 3 stars, I dont like the 12 month membership contract concept. Other than that, it was a great experience, I am going back in a few weeks, but I will not get a membership.
Since I have been here, I have been dealing with a lot of customer issues, lack of communication, payment issues even during the shut down last year my card was still charged. I did not post a review about these issues last year, the manager Erica was able to find a solution to my issues. Today, I had a confirmed massage appointment, I end up going to the location because I was afraid if I didnt show up I will be charged the $50 fee. I rushed to the location to find it temporarily shut down. How? No one called about the place being closed. No emails about this, nothing! But my card was just charged yesteday. How nice of the owner. So, I emailed the owner today. We shall see..I will give him some time to respond. I also called the corporate number, left a message. We shall see. But, this is not normal and unacceptable. This place should be in the right operating hands of someone who cares about its customers.
It is incredibly difficult to get an appointment when using the online service. I’d recommend calling. They also cancel last minute and are very unprofessional when doing so. I had an appointment that I needed to reschedule because I was running late and when I called to do so she gave me an appointment with another therapist, not even asking if I wanted the same person. When I asked her if that person gave deep tissue massages, her response was, “I’m not really sure.” She didn’t take the time check or find someone who did. I dread calling and having to speak to anyone at the front desk, they just seemed uninformed and bothered.
The therapists are great, but the franchise owner is not honest. Even though they were closed during quarantine, they continued to charge my credit card. Then I had to move away and sell my house due to unemployment from Covid. Ive been trying to cancel my membership for 3 months. Ive called the Colonial Heights ME several times, left messages and nobody has ever called back and tried to make contact through corporate. Still no response from franchise owner, manager, nothing. In addition, they continued to pull from my account. Very disappointing. Do not get caught like I did.
I would give negative stars if I could. 6 months ago I called to cancel my membership because I was laid off from my job and needed the money more than massages. The woman I spoke with asked if I would like to pause my membership. I said yes, but I would need a call back before it got reinstated. She told me that was no problem and that was the end of that conversation. Cut to Friday (10/13/17) theyve taken money from my account without calling me as I requested. I called and spoke with the assistant manager and told her I wasnt in a financial situation where I could keep my membership and I wanted to go ahead and cancel and get a refund. She told me that to get my refund I would need to pay for all five months that my membership was paused. She gave me a spiel about how I made an agreement when I put my membership on pause that I would pay back those five months. I explained that I made no such agreement and that if I had been informed of this fact 5 months ago, I wouldve just cancelled my membership then. I told her how upset I was and that I wouldnt accept that answer and she told me there was nothing she could do. I could cancel my membership and there would be no refund. Then she HUNG UP ON ME! I called back to speak with the manager and the manager told me there was nothing she could do and even if I called corporate, they would just send me back to that branch and they would tell me the same thing. The rudeness of those people is astounding and Im out almost $60 when I desperately need that money. I will never go back to Massage Envy.As of today, 11/13/17, my account has been charged AGAIN and no one has responded to my emails or my phone messages from either corporate or the branch. This is absolutely ridiculous and I am livid!
This location in Colonial Heights is the worst. My husband gave me a gift card for our wedding anniversary. When I would call to check their availability they wouldn’t have anything for 4-6 weeks out. When I finally decided to go ahead and book, which was for about 4 weeks out, they had the nerve to call me the week before the scheduled day to tell me they had to cancel so they could close for training. My appointment was rescheduled for a couple of weeks after that. Then they called the day of that appointment about 4 hours before it was supposed to begin to tell me they again had to cancel because Lisa, my massage therapist, wasn’t coming in. I was so fed up I told them not to reschedule me and I booked an appointment for the next day at the Commonwealth Location in Midlothian. If I could give Colonial Height’s Massage Envy location negative stars, I would.
This particular location struggles with communication and organization. I completed paperwork over two months ago to cancel my membership. However, I still have been charged each month after. When I called the manager stated that my paperwork was not on file. Even after I emailed her my copy of the cancellation form my membership was never cancelled and I am still being charged each month. Management needs to be improved desperately.
Unfortunately, I am changing my previous review. Up until the last 6 months I had no issues at all. Loved my esthetician Caitlyn (until she left) and then Laura. I had much difficulty getting an appt and noticed Laura was no longer on the online scheduling. I booked an appt with an available esthetician. The day before my appt I was called and asked if I could move my appt which I was unable to so I cancelled. Finally got it rescheduled, the day of my appt it was cancelled due to esthetician being sick. Struggled again to find an available appt as the book only went out 30 days. I have a limited amount of days I am available. Showed up to my appt and did not receive my usual facial, was recommended that I get a chemical peel. It was not explained to me what this entailed. I assumed that would be in addition to my regular facial. I had not been there in 5 months and was in and out in 30 minutes. Was told Id get a follow up call which I did not. I called to cancel my March appt and to also cancel my membership as apparently Laura is no longer there. The girl that answered stated she was unable to cancel my membership but a manager would call me the next day. That was over a week ago. Theyve had no problem taking my money the last 6 months but have never once called to check why I have not been in. I never received a call or letter about my esthetician no longer being there. I found out through a mutual friend where Laura went and will take my business there. She was excellent!
I booked an appointment a month in advance and then when the week of my appointment came, I got called Tuesday late in the evening with an appointment reminder for a Wednesday appointment. I did not get this message until after this location was already closed for the day so I called first thing when they opened up to let them know my appointment is supposed to be for Thursday. I was told I did not cancel in accordance with the cancellation policy (even though my appointment was scheduled incorrectly). So I was told I will be charged for not cancelling in time even though it was a mistake in scheduling on their part. The staff was very unprofessional in speaking with them about this situation. I have been a member for more than 10 years and have never had such an unprofessional experience like this one.
Disappointed. I was a frequent customer at another location, but I will be canceling my membership after my first experience at this location this evening. After arriving, I was told that they had called me today (the day of the appointment) to cancel my appointment. The lady at the front desk then told me that they would not charge me for the evening. I didnt get a massage... Charge me? Are you kidding me? Do not go here! Try another location if you can. Massage Envy is a great business model, but this location is terrible.
Worse customer service ever. I would never ever go back to a message envy. I called to cancel my membership because of several different reasons. 1. Being a medical issue, 2 being every time I call I have to call several times to get a person on the phone, 3 the staff is very unprofessional, 4 being their schedule isn’t the same it changes every time I call in or they have to call to cancel my appointments. I have been told that there would be a manager in at a certain time so I call and there is no manager there to speak too. The managers are not very reliable and whoever is in charge of overseeing this location may want to take a good look at who they have working for them because they are going to run this location into the ground. If I could give a negative star I would definitely be doing so.If I were anyone I would run as fast as I could the other way.
I also had trouble with this location when I left. They charged me again weeks after I had submitted my cancellation. Mistakes are understandable but after numerous calls they did not fix the situation, and I had to resort to my bank fixing the problem.Some of the therapists there are really good, some are ok, and some are not so good. Its really hit or miss, so I suggest booking them by name after you find out which fit your needs. That is, if you cant find another place to get service, which is what I would recommend.
Once again they cancel our couples massage. They call to confirm, I ask about my husband. They say yes his is at 8:00 too. In a different room is that ok? No its not. Our apt. Was booked a month ago. And I have to pee every hour because I’m 5 months pregnant and there is a baby sitting on my bladder.”Not only was this the eloquent intro I was greeted with. But my 60 min Massage session, which i showed up 20 min early for, lasted from 5:11-5:59. All because she didn’t come into the relaxation room to get me until 5:06, which would have been Fine if she was tactful enough to go an hour.When I go for a massage, I go in ready to lay down and be put at such peace that I’m borderline asleep. I’m not assertive enough to ask someone to be quiet, so I was forced to hold a conversation during my massage that I did not want to have. There is no reason I should know what your lover looks like or that another guest left $50 for you and your baby.As much as I want to blame Marie, she is only 21. And has not established business etiquette or professionalism. I do think Massage Envy should do a better job at hiring employees that hold the same caliber they expect from clients. You want clients who tip? Clients to enroll in memberships? Clients to leave feeling better than they did when they walked in? This type of “massage” is not it. And it’s definitely not one anyone would envy.I used a gift card with a $125 limit to pay a $60 balance and was then told by the front desk that I have no more money on it. After calling the location where the gift card was purchased, $65 is still in fact on the card. While checking out, my massage therapist was standing a few feet away. This experience was not one I wanted to leave gratitude for. But being asked how much I wanted to tip with her standing right there, I felt undeservingly compelled to.I hate that I’m so nice. Because i should have got up and gracefully walked out when this young lady told me she’d indefinitely be dry heaving towards the middle of the massage.Terrible experience. All the way around. It has been over a year since anyone has been able to go here. Apparently they just shut down without notifying customers. No one will respond to emails, Facebook Messages, Phone calls. A total scam. We need to get 12 on our side. I am going to talk to my bank about how they can get away with this and continue charging our cards monthly. We are unable to get in touch to cancel subscriptions. ZERO stars would be given if it would allow. And dont tell me to call or click because it all just leads to nothing
I have been trying to book an appointment for couple months. No one answer my call. Left voicemail multiple time never got a call back. Book online never available. Got charge every month but barely get service cause they never pick up the phone. Last year they closed down due to Pandamic still got charge every month. I think last year for my 12 hours memberchip i only used half of it. Ans till now. If i still got charge every month i should be able to get better customer service. Getting appointment with this location is a mess.
This place took $300 from me and when I go for my appointment they cant give me my massage that I paid for 4 months in advance then turn around and take $120 from my checking account. I call them I get no call back about this issue. They are so unprofessional even the manager is unprofessional. The owners of this branch also own the VA center branch. They closed the VA center branch ~April of 2020 due to COVID. Yet they continued to charge me monthly for the service. It is now January 2021 and they still keep charging it. Getting ahold of anyone is near impossible. When you do get ahold of them, they say they are canceling it. But Ive done that many times, and they still keep charging me.TOTAL SCAM!Update 2020/01/13:In response to the contact your local Massage Envy: Ive been trying since April. The branch closed, never answered emails, all calls went straight to a full voicemail. Now the phone line is disconnected. Ive even contacted a different branch (the 526-7777 one) then the one I normally work with, and finally talked to different people 4 times now. As of after the 3rd time, I was still being charged, despite them saying they would cancel it. We will have to wait until February to know if the 4th time finally got through to stop. Never have they sent me any proof of cancelation, or any documentation as I asked for.
I have loved this location untill the past two months. I missed a call (which I did not recieve) to confirm my appointment. I was charged an ADDITIONAL $40 AND $25 charge for missing this appointment. I never confirmed it, and I have called twice a week for an entire month so I could get in contact with a manager. NOT ONCE has somebody tried to contact me but to make a new appointment. I sent in my cancellation request TWO WEEKS ago, in which I was told a manager would call me back withen a 24-48hour timeframe. Nothing. I absolutely hate this run-around they are giving me and I would 100% not recommend anybody subscribing to their services.
I am a senior who has supported Massage Envy for years. Because of Covid19 and being high risk I could not do any massages, plus the facility was closed for a period of time. Now, I found out that the Colonial Heights location is closed from someone that I was casually talking to today. No one from Message Envy has reached out to its members to notify us of the closure and my account is steadily being billed for services that I am not receiving. I notified the corporate office and have not gotten a response yet. To me, this is a form of theft and fraudulent behavior. And after reading the other reviews, it makes me question Message Envys integrity and honesty. My membership was done in trust and good faith, but I can see that Message Envy doesnt have the same belief.
These people are life savers! I was in extreme pain from a car accident I was involved in. I walked in on a whim to see when I could possibly come in because Ive heard there was a long wait... It was my lucky day because they were able to get me in later that day due to a cancellation. I had a great session, my therapist really cared about what was bothering me and he gave me tips on how to manage pain at home as well. Everyone I came into contact with there has have been great. I signed up for the membership so I can continue to come work on this pain Ive been experiencing for so long. I just wish I would have had the courage to look sooner!
This is the worst company I have ever come in contact with. I recommend shopping local and not using a franchise like Massage Envy. Their staff is incompetent and unprofessional as well as untrained. I had an appointment the therapist I had my appointment with was out sick so they called and rescheduled my appointment. When I arrived to me rescheduled appointment I was told I was a no call no show so they took my whole gift card. I was not pleasedone to say the least. So here I am a year later and finally decided to give them another chance call to book an appointment they done have any available for this week so I call the midlothian store. They get an appointment but inform me that my points are not valid at there store bc each message envy is its OWN FRANCHISE!!!! what a joke is was a gift card not points to begin with, But they messed up. So disappointed in the company.
There is always a cover up as to what is going on at this location. At least be honest with the hard working or retired patrons that frequent this business. I have 4 or 5 visits that I cannot make appointments for. To me you could have notified us with some type of warning other than we are closed for remodeling. Not true! I dont see any remodeling going on at this site
I tried canceling my monthly payments with them back in April and no one would call me back. The voicemail said they were out of the office due to COVID so to email them at this address. So I emailed AGAIN no answer. So I have been paying for something that I couldnt even use because it was closed due to COVID and also losing money that I needed during hard time because of COVID because no one can respond back. So I finally got a hold of someone in JUNE and they said the manager would call me back....AGAIN NO CALL BACK. FINALLY called and I guess the manager answered sent me an email to cancel and I filled the form back and emailed it back to the manager, even called back asking if she received the form and she stated she did. Massage Envy uses specials to draw you in and lock you into a contract under the guise that paying a monthly fee for a subpar massage that you won’t even be tempted to use on a regular basis is an ideal situation. Once the contract is up they will continuously ignore your emails for a cancellation, calling is a joke as the person that handles accounts will never be there to address your concerns. Once you reach the point of involving lawyers she’ll magically appear with a cryptic response about needed to verbally speak to you about your cancellation, once you do have he conversation they will assure you that your account is cancelled in hopes that you will not catch them continuously pulling money from your account. They do not answer the phones after 8 even though the store closes at 10pm and do not expect an emailed response until your 4th or 5th follow up. I’m sure this is an overall company practice because the internet is loaded with various reviews and videos from other “members” that they are holding hostage under expired contracts. Whatever you do do not let this place get ahold of your bank information!!!! Groupon has amazing ‘I just got my life changed’ massage parlors that you can get certificates for at a fraction of the price on a need to use basis.
Lisa is a fantastic therapist!!! She is attentive, intuitive, and knowledgable. After a shoulder injury and two doctors visits that were unhelpful, Lisa was able to relieve 6 knots in my shoulder that allowed the muscles to heal.Im also very pleased with the ladies that work at the front desk. They know me by name and even have possible future appointments waiting for me to chose from when I leave my session. Thank you all for everything you do!
Horrible service... Just like everyone else said. Scheduled a mother/daughter massage as a gift for my daughter and I a month ahead. Got the call toniggt that THEY had to cancel and wouldnt have another appointment for another month! Dont bother scheduling here. Take your business elsewhere. I am.
Therapists are good, but administration is horrible. Every one of my 12 appointments was rescheduled by their office, and some were not able to be rescheduled due to high turnover of therapists. They complain that they were not paid in a timely fashion.
Scheduling anything here is a joke. A month out I scheduled a couples massage, showed up and the room was taken. I scheduled another massage over a month out and we found out today that they double booked the room and they cant fit us in until next month. What?! How is this my fault? Dont go here, its a miserable experience.
I came in for a facial and my esthetician’s name was jasmine. She was amazing, very knowledgeable about the products and gave me a ton of information about skincare. I will definitely be back for another facial. If you are thinking about a facial here make sure you request jasmine, you won’t regret it.
I scheduled a massage with them. Two hours prior to the scheduled time, they told me the time is no longer available and tried to get me to come in with 15 minutes notice for a completely different service. I would not recommend booking with them. Try any place else.
Customer service was wonderful here! The entire experience was very relaxing. Merie is a wonderful masseuse, I highly recommend booking with her if you can. She is professional but casual. I plan on returning.
Its always a treat to go here, the staff is all very friendly, the facility very clean and just to be pampered is wonderful. Would suggest the 2 hour massage and 1 hour facial for everyone. And everyone should try the cye me foot treatment to take home to clean up those feet from the abuse we put them through.
Finally, an Esthetician who is knowledgeable about all skin types! Jasmine is amazing at what she does, and Im so happy to have found her. I will definitely be coming in monthly for my skincare services!
I would love to give them more stars but i can never get an appointment. The online appt doesnt have anything available ever, no matter what time of the day, and they never answer the phone lol i would like to get in there though because i hear great things about them but im guessing Ill have to try a different location
Had a stretch and massage service from Kim at the colonial heights location. Had many massages there and this was my first stretch. The service was definitely beneficial especially since I work out alot.
Beware of this place! They will try to STEAL YOUR MONEY!!!! This is the 3rd month theyve taken a membership fee from my account that they were NOT suppose to do, and Ive had to get the manager to put it back. I understand if it happens once, but 3 times! AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

I got a 60 minute session with my therapist Kim and he used a percussion tool and I highly recommend booking a session. I went in with pain and I walked out feeling great!

This is a horrible location. The managers torment the employees and today there a fight that the police had to break up between manger Lisa Burnett and an employee. This is a very unprofessional location. She needs to be demoted or fired.
